I am constantly hurt by the callousness with which people dismiss the harm of restricting adult content and porn, only concerned about the knock-on effects for queer people and radical political groups. Sex workers ourselves matter just as much as non sex working queer people and leftists.
We are not canaries in the coal mine whose deaths you can dismiss while you frame groups you actually care about as the sole human casualties of these policies. I need you to care that laws like the Online Safety Act lead sex workers to have to return to abusive third parties to find clients or to work in brothels we hate or to such poverty that we starve. I need you to care about payment processors refusing to pay out for adult content because it means sex workers cannot rely on online work when selling sex in-person becomes too much for our bodies or too risky.
Please care about sex workers' suffering, rather than only the fact your favourite queer game was de-listed from itch.io and that you have to use a VPN to access adult subreddits without giving your ID now.

somehow instead of saying "as a treat", I've started using the phrase "for morale", as if my body is a ship and its crew, and I (the captain) have to keep us in high spirits, lest we suffer a mutiny in the coming days.
and so I will eat this small block of fancy cheese, for morale. I will take a break and drink some tea, for morale. I will pick up that weird bug, for morale.
I'm not sure if it helps, but it does entertain me

Make sure you don't accidentally punish people for communicating their needs and boundaries. When someone cares enough to have the uncomfortable conversation, that's a compliment and a clear sign that they are invested in the relationship. Yes of course it's uncomfortable to hear that something you've been doing has been upsetting someone you care about when that was never your intention, but people generally only bother to have these conversations with the people they want to keep around - the people they trust to care. If they just didn't like you, they'd probably just try to avoid you. So make sure you don't make it into a more punishing experience than it has to be. Try to see the care and the trust behind the criticism, even when it triggers uncomfortable emotions. It's a good sign that they're there telling you.

My most anticipated movie of the year, and I've seen it twice so far in three days. ❤️💙💛
I liked it even better the second time. The first time was good, but the second time was great. I FELT it so much more the second time. Teared up four times, cried twice.
There are few things I like more than a truly GOOD man, and Superman is the embodiment of that idea.
I am not a superhero movie person. Being so excited about this movie was really unexpected. But from the moment I happened to watch the teaser trailer back in December, I was hooked.
Literally watched dozens of trailer reaction videos, even though I couldn't really explain why. I was feeling something and loving it.
What I felt today in the theater was explanation enough. This movie FEELS GOOD. If you need something to feel good about, if you need to see a bright, hopeful reflection of humanity, even if just for two hours... Look Up.

Seeing as how the Big Beautiful Bill just passed, here's are some websites that offer discounts on medications:
- GoodRx
- SingleCare
- Pharmacy Checker
- WellRx - this one compares prices across different pharmacies
- Cost Plus - thanks to @thedamnqueenofhell for suggesting!
-NeedyMeds - a nonprofit that helps pay for prescriptions. Thank you to @allitdoesispause for the suggestion! They also suggested checking the manufacturers website for a paitent assistance program, which can give you a coupon for free or cheaper meds.
-Ask for a discount card - thank you to @cccshutdown for the reminder!
Stay safe, everyone. Things are about to get much, much worse in the US.
EDIT: if you're worried about doctor/therapy appointments, see if there's a sliding scale clinic near you (and ask your therapist if they offer sliding scale prices)

a common misconception is that a revolution is built by years of painstakingly raising class consciousness among the masses while at the same time building up a party capable of taking leadership during a revolutionary crisis. nothing could be further from the truth. a revolution is built by making social media posts calling for a general strike over and over until one day it just happens

CALL YOUR CONGRESSPERSON and tell them to VOTE NO on the budget bill. The cuts to Medicaid mean that 1 in 4 nursing homes and rural hospitals are at imminent risk of being forced to close, meaning it's not just the 17-20 million on Medicaid who would lose their insurance but EVERY PERSON who relies on these hospitals and nursing homes will lose access to that care. THIS IS LITERALLY A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH. CALL NOW! The Congressional Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121.
If you're reading this on Tuesday, July 1st, there's still time! Call now!

Congressional Switchboard:
(202) 224-3121
"My name is [name]. I live in [city, state], zip code #####. I'm calling because I'm very concerned that no baby formula has entered Gaza in months, and thousands of babies are being starved to death. I'm calling to ask the Congressman to do whatever he can, speak to someone, the media, whoever he has to in Washington to at least try to save these babies. They don't have the time to wait."
