thinking about risotto hugging your anger away. you’re upset about a mission not going as planned, you’re upset because you’re in pain, you’re upset because you hate some of the things you have to do to stay afloat. no matter the cause, risotto’s arms are ready to block out the world pissing you off so much right now. risotto is a wall of a man, and when he’s wrapped his arms around you he’s a house. within the abode of his body you feel safe and your anger is replaced with a sort of stillness no one else has been able to provide you. he’s likely much taller than you, so he’ll rest his chin on your head, enjoying your body heat as he engulfs you in his rich cologne and strong arms. risotto may be a big muscly man, but he’s got the right idea with those hugs

I was thinking "Man, I bet a lot of Locked Tomb fans would go nuts for Die," and then I realized I knew a bunch of comics I think fellow Muir fans would like. So here, have some of my personal faves.
Tumblr media
Bitch Planet, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Valentine De Landro
This one will probably never be completed, but the two existing volumes are absurdly good. It's about an off-world penal colony for non-compliant women. Brutal, angry, pulpy--and full of love and admiration for women who rebel.
Tumblr media
Die, Kieron Gillen, Stephanie Hans
Goth as hell, lovely, and extremely gender. All about the power of story, but story here is not inspirational. It is eldritch: amoral, all-powerful, and hungry.
Tumblr media
Love and Rockets, Jaime Hernandez, Gilbert Hernandez, Mario Hernandez
I'm particularly thinking of the Jaime stuff here--queer punks on bizarre adventures, loving and surviving in a shit-ass world.
Tumblr media
Monstress, Marjorie Liu, Sana Takeda
A terrifying and powerful lesbian on a quest for revenge has an elder god come out of her arm stump occasionally to kill people. Also, there is a cat who is a nekomancer. (Get it?)
Tumblr media
Once and Future, Kieron Gillen, Dan Mora, Tamra Bonvillain
There's a lot going on here thematically, but whatever. Just take a look at Bridgette, 80-something monster hunter with just the worst attitude you've ever heard of. See that old woman? You will absolutely want to fuck that old woman.
Tumblr media
Pretty Deadly, Kelly Sue DeConnick, Emma Rios
Ungh. The art. The deathiness. The art. Imagine if the Locked Tomb took its aesthetic cues from westerns, swap out necromancers for reapers, and you're pretty much there. Just a gorgeous series.
Tumblr media
The Sandman, Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth, Mike Dringenberg
You have heard of Sandman. It is as good as you have heard. Shares with TLT an unflinching--but warm--look into the darkness.
Tumblr media
Tigress Queen, Allison Shaw
Buff warrior queen must enter the opulent city of the enemy empire to seek peace. Palace intrigue, diplomatic tensions, occasional fights. Everyone is very sexy.
Obligatory mention for the five of you who never put on gray bodypaint: Homestuck is interesting, but I do not recommend it because I do not think the comic itself is very good. Homestuck is a several-thousand page joke at the expense of the reader. It did not deserve the passionate, creative fandom it attracted.
It gets mentioned a lot as a TLT influence because Muir co-wrote a beloved fic (Promstuck), but she herself has said it's not any bigger an influence than a million other things she's read or played. There are some interesting overlaps, but many of those are because she's influenced by the same material Hussie is (notably parser games and jrpgs).
If you really want to read Homestuck, I recommend listening to Homestuck Made This World as you go.

RE: Gambit's body type. I thought he was meant to be sort of a middle size, Kurt at the lean end and Piotr at the muscular end.
Among super heros maybe but have you seen the average man?
Most men do not have a 6 pack...
Tumblr media
And here he is with an 8 pack....which for most men isn't even physically possible due to genetics.
Gambit is not a middle ground. He's not even farmboy buff. He, like lot of super heros, is very ripped. He's no where near Piotr but Piotr is literally a bronze statue when powered up. He just seems lean based on who he's standing next to, as we've got mini bara bait wolverine on one side of him and the boyscout to rival cap scott summers on the other, and the fact he doesn't literally have super strength but he's still unrealistically buff most depictions. Not even considering his sense of style he would not look out of place in a JoJo's bizarre adventure line up, and that should say something about how buff he is.
Tumblr media
Srsly does he look out of place here?
If I were to be generous, and ignore the superhero excess of muscles drawn onto him, he's built like a hockey player just based on how his bone structure is compared to his height. (Even has the flow tbh...)
He's physically not built to be scrawny like a twink unless he's starving to death, and thats ok.
Buff guys should be allowed to be effeminate at times and dress as cat maids too. That's kind of why I like him. By all means he's not the kind of guy you expect to be in touch with his femininity based on stereotypes but he very much is. He's the guy you expect to see at a frat party based on how he looks but instead hed rather be curled up with rogue and his cats and is thinking about being a stay at home dad.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer #16
We are the professionals! ~ Kendra Young.
This issue feels pivotal, setting up the drama but also further differentiating the reboot from the classic continuity.
Kendra and Giles came to visit Rose, still unconscious in the hospital. Giles tries to cheer Kendra up, telling her that she cannot blame herself for what happened. Kendra decides to end Giles' entire career. She doesn't blame herself, she doesn't even blame Buffy - I blame you, she tells Rupert, Buffy may wield the sword but you taught her how to swing it. Giles defends his methods he is convincing but still, there is some truth to what Kendra says. Anyway, Buffy's about to enter the hospital room as well but she overhears Kendra and Giles arguing about her so she just leaves the flowers and a note for Rose. Poor Buff.
Tumblr media
Later at night Buffy's riding Zeppo. No, not like that. In a bizarre dream Xander and Buffy are riding through Sunnydale on a giant talking dinosaur, obliterating everything in their path. Like her previous Xander dream this one is also very suggestive and sexually charged but outside of the rather straightforward foreshadowing I can't really decipher its meaning and neither can Buffy. She decides to use google - talking dinosaur...dream...best friend...dead...meaning - looks like Buffy's google-fu remains as advanced as it was twenty years ago. Suddenly Buffy receives a massage that makes her jump out of her bed. The message is from Xander. Meanwhile, Jenny's enjoying her evening, drinking wine and reading tarot to her cat. She pulls the fool card before she's interrupted by somebody knocking on her door. It's Xander, looking horrible, begging for help. Jenny invites him in....
Tumblr media
Buffy makes it to Giles' place. It appears that Kendra lives with Giles, sleeping on his couch - or, maybe, it's Giles who is sleeping on the couch. Oh look, the reboot effortlessly solves yet another issue of the classic vampire slayer. Giles assumes that the message is a work of a tasteless prankster but Buffy's not so sure about it. Kendra points out the obvious. Xander's not dead. The discussion is cut short after Giles receives a message from Jenny. I'm so fire emoji right now, come over. Rupert and the slayers head to Jenny's place and find her house on fire. Buffy and Kendra rush inside, looking for the teacher. Buffy falls from the crumbling stairs but Kendra pulls her up and gets on top. That's where Xander's waiting. He grabs Kendra by the neck and throws her through the window. The confrontation between Xander and Buffy is interesting. There's the classic Angelus and Spike brand of malicious lust with an undercurrent of misogyny but there's also sincerity. Xander's offer seems to come from a place of genuine feelings. Buffy is having none of it. She dropkicks Xander and falls onto the floor of the burning house, Jenny's tarot card landing on her face. Buffy's ready to fight but Xander is gone, she menages to save Jenny's cat though.
Back at Giles' place Buffy hands the cat to Rupert as well as the tarot card and assures him the Jenny will be found. Giles takes Dolly to the garden and the slayers get a chance to finally bond over their battle experience and their feelings towards, respectively, Rose and Xander. The final scene depicts Willow, back from her adventures in Abhainn holding Rose's hand in the hospital.
Go big or gourd home.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, according to someone who hasn't watched it
theres these things called “stands”
Theyre like, the “stand users” soul, but they all look like aliens????
Also whenever someone uses their stand, music plays. But its always the same song. Must suck after a while
Anyone can be a stand user, even animals???
Theres vampires. No, not those vampires. Not those ones either. These ones shoot lasers out of their eyes.
Sunlight doesnt effect them, i think
I don't even think they drink blood, or have fangs, not even a lil turning into a bat
Theyre not even vampires, why are they called vampires if theyre not??
Only one guy has a family, jojo joestar. Hes got a grandpa. Fuck everyone else they dont get families.
Every stand user has a unique power. Grandpa joestar’s is gun
Some kids power is they can control bullets. They refuse to help someone dying from bullet wounds
I hope theres grandpa joestar gun vs rando kid bullet control fight
Grandpa ”almost threw hands w a 13 yr old” joestar
Theres a guy w pink hair, and a pink sweater w a tit window, he thinks everything is a phone
Hes also evil?? I think
Hes not a stand user and that makes him mad, but hes cute so his crimes are ok
Some guy has a gun in his pants, i think his name is mista, he never uses it
Jojo says “ora” a lot
Why is everyone dressed like pokemon trainers but blind
Stands cant be seen by non stand users, good
Theres one stand that looks like a buff pink man with cat ears
Stands cant talk?
Theres a lady, jolyne, she has green hair and is gay
Jojo isnt used to having friends, this is sad
Jojo has a weird thing going on w his hair and hat, not even the characters can figure it out
Theres a joke about hat hair in there somewhere
Ppl say you have to match yer stands aesthetic, but no one in the show even wears the same colors as their stands, let alone aesthetic! its horrible
Stands arent puppets to their users but are in fact, conscious, they are very loyal and do as their user says, like dogs
Thats ok for some reason
I cant get over how horny the outfits are
Jojo is the only one without a horny outfit, ppl wanna kill him cuz of that

Queen’s Favor (Mysme Jumin/MC AU 9/?)
Summary: Being a maid would be much easier if the cat would just let her do her job.
AU - Instead of joining the RFA via random text, MC is hired on as one of the maids assigned to Jumin Han’s penthouse. Nothing else about the setting has changed, the messenger and the RFA still exist, only the MC’s position has been altered.
It'd gotten to the point where she'd opened the bag and just...looked directly inside it. Just one step shy of trying to stick her head and body in there, as if she could go on a purse-adventure to find her wallet.
The GPS worked.
See. She might have gotten hotheaded and chased after a stranger in the middle of the night all the way until she got the lost in some shady district, but nothing actually bad happened. Except she lost some time to have dinner and relax.
But that was fine, because it was her weekend anyway. She had all day to sleep in and do other things!
Like get that haircut. And maybe shop for mattresses. A little.
But not apartment shop. She wasn't making enough to have saved up for that yet. There wasn't that many places in her range to move into in the city, in the first place, which is part of the reason she ended up in the closet-apartment she now lived. Given the short time since moving there, she couldn't really expect that to change radically when her price range...really wasn't that different. Yet.
When she'd looked up the location that she'd ended up in last night, all she'd been able to find out about it was that it had been built ten years back and was residential. She hadn't found any advertisements renting the apartments in it, which was strange, given that it sure didn't look full.
Well. Maybe some business mogul bought the place thinking they could turn it into some kind of office-space, then went under because they had no idea what they were doing?
Regardless, aside from a few comments from others who had asked questions about the building and gotten nothing of substance in return, there wasn't much about the place on the internet. Maybe that jerk who'd run into her was actually the person who owned the place. It's that, or he really was a drug dealer.
Hey, maybe he split the difference. Gotta pay for an apartment complex you don't rent out somehow, right?
She frowned, rustling through her purse. She obviously traveled without it most of the time when she was working, as there really wasn't a reason to weigh herself down with something she might forget somewhere (or the cat would get into), but still...she was sure she'd put her wallet in the purse when she'd gotten home.
Where is it...?
She wasn't about to stand there rustling through the purse, digging through her stuff to find her money after she needed to pay something. She'd do it now. When no one was staring expectantly at her and she didn't feel judged. Obviously. Like any upstanding not-broke citizen who felt vaguely judged every time she went into work by the sheer gulf between herself and her employer's wealth levels.
Which was a good choice, because it'd gotten to the point where she'd opened the bag and just...looked directly inside it. Just one step shy of trying to stick her head and body in there, as if she could go on a purse-adventure to find her wallet. Her hand failed to find it, so maybe if she just looked...
"Hey, look out-!"
She did, but only in time to see a black-and-white blur slam into her.
Ah, so that's how it felt to be tackled to the ground. But worse, because she'd only tackled the intruder to wooden floors, not cement. That hardly seemed fair, considering she didn't do anything to deserve it, unlike the one who got slammed to the floor.
She didn't complain, though, as her attention was arrested pretty completely by the literal truck that zoomed right by where she'd been standing before something else - someone else - slammed into her and knocked her out of the way. Along with her purse, which was knocked completely off of her arm by the impact of the ground, and slid a foot or two away from her on the sidewalk.
Hey, was that her walle-nope, just her phone.
"Are you alright?"
The ground, the truck, and then her purse all took their turns with her attention, she supposed it was only reasonable the person who saved her life would eventually expect to it, too. Once the shock and potential trauma passed, anyway.
She blinked a few times, but the person above her neither disappeared, nor melted like a midday mirage caused by standing in the sun. The beautiful face just inches away from hers remained. And didn't get any less pretty even when she focused on it. Smooth, flawless skin she could scream in jealousy over, platinum hair that fell in an artful curtain around both of their faces despite being tied back, and surprisingly pretty red eyes.
Ah, yes.
She still hadn't spoken. Just gawked.
Nice.
"U-uh." Granted, she'd gotten used to seeing attractive men in person, compared to maybe a year before. But this was an exceptionally pretty man, exceptionally close to her face. That, and she'd just been slammed into the ground and narrowly avoided death.
Actually, that's what she's going with. Near death avoidance. Really robs someone of their speech.
He spoke again, and by some totally unfair twist, he sounded as attractive as he looked. "Are you okay? You didn't hit your head or anything?"
Despite herself, she lifted a hand from where it'd splayed out on the ground and waved it vaguely in the air. "Oh, no, no. I quit concussions cold turkey last month." Mmm, nope. She knew the reference and even for her...that just wasn't clever. She'd chalk that up to near death, too. She'd go down fighting and die with dignity before she admitted to social awkwardness just because someone pretty happened to be up in her face.
Unfortunately, she couldn't take back what was already said.
He squinted down at her a moment, one side of his mouth quirking up into a smile that was frankly more amused than her comment deserved. "...I feel even more concerned for you now than I did before."
"...You know what, I really can't blame you. It was pretty bad by my standards, and I fully blame the near-miss of that truck."
His expression remained amused - and seemed rather like he was holding back saying something else. Mercifully, probably. Eventually, he pushed himself up and away, shifting instead to kneel over her, rather than stay like some kind of cliche accidental romance moment. A hand reached out to help her up, and she really couldn't help but notice how the sun caught in his silver hair, how his features looked perfectly chiseled like from someone's personal design of perfection, and how ridiculous it was to have someone as pretty as him randomly wandering the street.
For one reason or another, it felt stranger just to see someone so attractive on the street around the peasants like her than to see them rubbing elbows with the ludicrously rich. Well, that and he had the feel of some kind of a star. Maybe that was pretty-bias, though.
After a moment or two of perfectly discreet gawking, she did ultimately take the offered hand, at least upgrading from 'sprawled on the sidewalk' to 'sitting on the sidewalk'.
"If I could offer a bit of advice, I'd quit standing in the middle of busy streets cold turkey, too." The man gave a wink, and for a moment she considered punching herself in the face just to give an excuse for the way her cheeks felt hot immediately after. At this point, she really doubted even that could make her look any worse to this random stranger anyway. "Even though I'm a hero, I can't promise I'll always be nearby to rescue you if you do."
"Are you sure? You've got the face to make a career out of it." ...Ah, yes. Well, eventually she just had to say something about his looks. They were just...there. Right up in her face and startlingly pretty.
He even wore a bashful smile in a way she could almost believe was sincere. "It's never sounded so appealing as when a natural born princess suggested it."
"Hm, I've never heard of a princess that has to hire her own hero. Can't say I can afford the paycheck, but I'll give you a five star review for my free trial."
He winked again, and she was pretty sure that someone ought to classify that as a deadly weapon. "For such a fair maiden, I'd do it for free."
...Honestly.
If she was going to flirt with a startlingly handsome stranger she met on the street, the least she could have done for herself was not make it so lame. This was what happened when the majority of her social interaction for an entire season was with a cat and its bizarre owner.
"I...uh. You think we can still chalk up my poor social skills to the near death experience?" She wrinkled her nose. "I don't want to think about the alternative."
His response was, apparently, to just flex on her by standing up and pulling her to her feet with one hand. Of course he was handsome, charismatic and fit. Why not go for the triple threat? The man apparently just waltzed right off of the nearest movie screen before rescuing her from the most embarrassing death she could have come up with outside of the penthouse. It'd be weirder at this point if he weren't also buff.
"Don't be so hard on yourself." He grinned. It sparkled, and she almost rolled her eyes. "I, for one, am thoroughly charmed."
Alright. He could keep being unreasonably good at everything as long as he also kept flattering her. Seemed reasonable to her.
"Smooth." A little scoff she liked to think wasn't vulgar compared to the person in front of her escaped her throat, and she turned to gather up her purse before anyone else could trample her things. Surprisingly, once she was done, the man still stood in place, watching her with that vaguely amused expression he'd had the whole time. She could almost buy he was actually charmed by her if he weren't a dolled up model on a movie poster jumped off the wall and come to life.
"If you're worried about me running back out into traffic again or something, you don't have to. There's a cat that would come and kill me if I got myself killed."'
For just a moment, he looked absolutely horrified. And then he went into a sneezing fit. Never before had she seen dignity and grace evaporate so quickly and thoroughly. The silver figure of a beautiful adonis quickly turned into a man nearly sneezing off of his feet, with tears and snot and...why?
"A-are you okay?!"
"No-I...I'm just...!" He sniffled, expression transformed to something petulant and miserable as he withdrew a handkerchief to clean up his face. "I'm very allergic! Just talking about cats makes me sneeze!"
"That's..."
 That is not a thing.
"That is not how allergies work."
He huffed, pursing his lips, and pocketed his handkerchief. "It's true."
She was sure it wasn't.
Still, she couldn't help a small smile anyway, awkward as it may have been. "I guess it might be hard to be your princess then. It'd be embarrassing to have you keel over when you showed up to rescue me."
He dabbed at his eye with one knuckle, so delicate. "Every hero faces his own dangers."
"You're really dedicated to the hero and princess thing, huh? Even ca-..." The pitiful look on his face was enough to make her correct herself. "Even your mortal enemy can't stop you, huh?"
This time, his smile was self depreciating. "Beggars can't be choosers. A hero without a princess is just a lonely guy."
...She wouldn't lie, it was at least half as much because he was so handsome as because he was amusingly charming and saved her life, but...eh. She shrugged. "If you put it that way...I could go for the company of a hero prince for lunch."
He chuckled and brushed hair out of his face...that instantly fell artfully right back into his face. "Well, now I just feel like I'm committing extortion..."
"Consider it a princess' favo-"
Wait.
"Dammit, my wallet!"

I want this emotion on the Sims 4 where fear as a brand new mood. Not just more tension or uncomfortable, just fear!
The Discussion About Fear
The Fear Poll
Please Let SimGuruFrost, SimGuruNinja, SimGuruGrant and EA Games know about petition.
It's divided into four stages:
Scared - In this first stage your sims act as if they were worried about something. from here, they can share their insecurities or ask to sims if they heard a certain noise.
They also unlock some special interactions to calm themselves, though I'm gonna talk about those later.
Very Scared - In this second stage, sims tend to be more paranoid than before.
Their Walkstyle will change, and they be able to run.
Frightened - In this third stage, Sims will be so crazy they'll even start to run panicked!
Terrified - In this final stage, They will begin to freak out! Run Faster in a Terrified Motion. They become even crazier than ever before. They will bite their nails constantly.
If you don't succeed to calm your sim down, consider it dead.
This death method is a comeback from TS2, where you could die from fright if they were scared too much.
They will be able to "freak out!" and "debunk their fears" (Self-Interactions).
These interactions are user directed and will kinda calm them down.
Be warned though! If a sim remains Terrified for too long there will be serious consequences...
There are various ways to calm your sims down. They can:
Calm down using a mirror or a vanity mirror. Cry in the closet. Freak out! (Only terrified sims) Debunk their fears. (Only Terrified sims) Share their insecurities. (Sometimes it doesn't) If you don't succeed to calm your sim down, consider it dead.
This death method is a comeback from TS2, where you could die from fright if they were scared too much.
This death will have a unique ghost type called "Death by fright"
The Sim as a ghost is able to unleash a Banshee Scream to scare a sim and it's not pretty, they can also Wail though out the night scaring you sim out of bed.
There are numerous way your sim can be scared! Some include
the use of expansions and others not:
BASE GAME
If a ghost possesses an object and alive sims are near. If a sim cheats on their spouse and they get caught. When there's a fire on the lot, or a sim is on fire. If a sim uses a voodoo doll for evil purposes and then gets backfired. When a child gets scared of the monster under the bed. When sims witness a dead body. * When a ghost, died by drowning, gets near a pool or swims in it. Using a cheating buff that can either lead to the "Troubled" or the "Terrified" emotion. **
GET TO WORK
If an alien gets caught wearing a disguise. If a sim discovers an alien and the outcome is negative. If a sim gets abducted and they don't come back dizzy. When a sim gets panicked because of a SimRay. When an alien scares a sim with a probe and the outcome is negative.
CITY LIVING
When there's an earthquake. When a house has the haunted trait (And receive the occasional buff that would normally appear).
CATS AND DOGS
When a sim hears a ghostly yowl from a ghost pet.
SEASONS
When there's a storm or a blizzard and the sim is outside. When a sim is inside and there's a storm outside When a sim almost gets struck by a lightning. When they react negatively to a Scarecrow.
GET FAMOUS
When a sim gets trapped in a vault. When a famous sim receives a text from an obsessed fan.
GAME PACKS
Strangerville: After a sim has tried to talk with a possessed sim. *
- When bizarre roots come out of a sink/toilet/shower/bath.
- After a Paranoid sim has looked up for conspiracy theories.
Jungle Adventures: When a sim is near a service skeleton and the buff is negative.
Vampires: After a human sim has slept in a coffin and the outcome is negative.
- When a vampire bites a sim, the victim will be scared of the bite at first.
Parenthood: When a sim breaks the rules while being grounded.
STUFFS
Spooky Stuff: When a sim picks up a candy from the candy bowl, and the outcome is negative.
Movie Hangout Stuff: When a sim has finished to watch a horror movie. *
This mod also needs a trait called "Cowardly" and "Brave"
Cowardly: These kind of sims get a "+1 Troubled" buff whenever they are worried, and will be scared during the bump in the night. When they are scared they occasionally "faint". Cowardly Sims will faint when they encounter the Grim Reaper, a ghost, a burglar, or fire, and will get the "Scared" moodlet. When Cowardly Sims stay in a dark room or outside at night, they will get "Afraid of the dark" moodlet instead of "It's dark" moodlet. Cowards will, in panic, initiate fights with Vampires or even run away from vampires. They might faint after getting pranked with the scary computer. Cowardly sim have a scared reaction when misfortune strikes nearby Sims.
Brave: These Sims are never scared and if there's a fire, they will put it out. They also deal with burglars. With a Sim or vampire, it can be useful when exploring tombs or caves as they won't be scared by bugs and never get the "Fear" moodlet. They won't be scared by ghosts and vampires (Which vampires cause the "Hunted" moodlet). They are also tended to be more confident when they are in a haunted lot
I also want a Horror Channel call Shiver.
It shows
A vampire movie but in the end Vampire lord gets attacked by aliens
A stalker film (with a twist ending) with victim was stalking have a horrible ugly face that making the stalker scared and run away.
A story about Hooper a pug is left behind in the break of an Zombie apocalypse. All he wants to do is get back to his owner a little boy that he loves dearly. This movie is similar to Lost Dog's Journey Home movie.

The long, long character breakdown of my super self-indulgent Toy Story-style Star Wars AU, “Destiny Dollhouse.” (Some doodles are here) My apologies if the cut doesn’t work.
Other than perhaps a brief moment of Buzz-style confusion for Jyn (“Oh my god I died, the planet blew up, is this purgatory?!” “Oh Honey no that was just a movie and you’re just a doll.”), everyone is aware of their situation. And while dolls of the same character are usually similar in personality, they also each lean on different traits and end up distinctive. For the most part, they address each other with surname initials to avoid confusion.
The Leias:
Leia C (Ceremonial) - The most regal/calm/mature of the Leias, she tends to act as their de facto leader. She has somewhat limited articulation and moves like Toy Story’s Barbie. From the 1999 Portrait Series, Leia C spent something like 15 years in storage as a collector’s item. She’s glad to now be out of her box, but is still very cautious about keeping her hair and clothing neat.
Leia O (Original, or Organa I suppose) - AKA Buff Leia. From the 1996 Hasbro line, she is the oldest in the dollhouse. But in the “cool biker aunt” sort of way. She sometimes doffs her dress and just hangs out in the bodysuit she wears underneath. She’s strong and can be jovial, but also has zero time for anyone’s bullshit.
Leia H (Hoth) - Youngest of the Leias along with her identical twin Leia E. They’re sometimes referred to as “The Destiny Twins.” Leia H is a great mission leader, but also the most hot-tempered doll in the house. She enjoys swapping clothes and weapons with her roommates, but Do Not touch her hair.
Leia E (Endor) - The looser of the Destiny Twins. She had most of her original braids undone so that she could actually use her helmet, a move that scandalized many of the other dolls. Adventurous and personable, she often goes on recon missions with the 3D Fireteam and is one of the few to have become close friends with Rey J. For a while, Leia E was the only doll to wear colors other than white, black, brown, red, and gold. She’s always enthusiastic about meeting dolls with new colors, and (like her twin sister) loves swapping clothes. She also has a little Ewok friend, Wicket.
The Amidalas:
The Queen (Red Senate dress) - Democratically elected leader of the dollhouse, she lives on the top level with her second-in-command, Sabe B. Like Leia C, she was in storage for years and tends to be careful about her appearance. She’s not particularly active, due to limited articulation and many heavy clothes. She’s not lazy, it’s just a hassle you know?
Amidala (Red palace dress) - AKA Gay Padme, she’s entirely disinterested in any talk of Anakin Skywalker (“I’m from TPM anyway, he’s just a little kid??”) and is instead dating Sabe R.  Amidala is somewhat sassy compared to her sisters, and very experimental in her fashion. She tries to be mindful of her carefully styled curls, but is often too enthusiastic about trying on new outfits and then needs her girlfriend to fix them up after they get caught in velcro or squished under accessories.
Padme (Pilot outfit) - [I don’t actually own her yet, but she’s next on my “to buy” list.] The most impulsive of all the Amidalas, and the most smitten with Anakin. She often goes on missions with the Destiny Twins and the 3D Fireteam, but just as often needs to be rescued by them when she starts off on some investigation on her own and then gets into trouble.
Sabe B (Black dress) - Marketed as Amidala, but is actually Sabe playing decoy. She and Queen are close (though not as close as Amidala and Sabe R), and spend most of their time discussing the running of the dollhouse and managing each other’s physical upkeep. Sabe B is the most fastidious of all the dolls, and the most protective of everyone’s appearances (most especially of the feathers on her own headdress). She’s the house seamstress, though due to limited mobility she delegates the collecting of tools and supplies.
Sabe R (Red dress) - Also marketed as Amidala, but actually Sabe playing decoy. Sabe R is dating Amidala, is a bit of a gossip, and is by far the most experimental with her own hair. Where Sabe B is the expert on mending clothes, Sabe R is the expert on hair. For most of the dolls her work is limited to fixing squished updos and taming flyaways, but Sabine and Leia E let her brush and braid to her heart’s content.
The Reys:
Rey J (Jakku) - The most adventurous loose canon of all the dolls, she often wanders off on her own to scavenge for things around the apartment at large. She’s socially awkward and slow to trust, but very enthusiastic about showing off her treasure once she’s sure you won’t steal it. Her twin sister Rey R knows her the best, but she’s also managed to befriend Leia E and Ahsoka. Leia H has banned Rey J from official dollhouse missions because she never sticks to the plan. Rey J’s favorite thing in the whole apartment is the spider plant.
Rey R (Resistance) - Still a little rough around the edges socially, but more clued-in than her sister. Rey R tends to act as the “big sister” of the pair, despite them being twins. BB-8 (who hops rather than rolls) is most loyal to Rey R, acting more or less like her pet dog. Rey R and Ahsoka became fast friends (especially after Ahsoka managed to befriend Rey J), and do lightsaber training together.
Ahsoka - The most acrobatic of the dolls, despite not being able to raise her arms at the shoulder due to some bizarre design decision by FoD doll creators (seriously wtf??). Extremely chipper and gregarious, Ahsoka makes friends with everyone she meets, even if sometimes it takes prolonged and dogged determination. She hates being left out of things. She also considers herself a good luck charm, as she arrived on the day that the Star Wars Celebration 2019 hotel blocks opened and was standing watch over the computer when I managed to defy the odds and actually snag a room in the chaos of thousands of people all trying to get on the same website at the exact same moment o_e Oh also she has a pet lothcat for some reason.
Sabine - One of the newest arrivals. I don’t actually know super much about her canon personality yet beyond that she’s artistic and probably pretty badass. So the doll version loves to play with the chalkboard and whiteboards in the kitchen, and is the least intimidated of the cat that shares the apartment with them. She immediately develops a crush on Ahsoka.
Jyn - Another of the newest arrivals. Might have slight Buzz Lightyear Syndrome to start out with. She tends to be the straight man, comedicaly speaking. Tired, angsty, and somewhat insecure, she can be abrasive at first and butts heads with authority figures. She eventually becomes good buddies with Leia O, and likes to join Ahsoka and Rey R for sparring practice and Rey J for climbing excursions.
3D Fireteam - Four 3D-printed action figures of Padme, Sabe, and Eirtae from the battle of Naboo. Two are Padmes technically, but one is nearly twice the height of the other three figures. They behave rather like the green soldiers from Toy Story, complete with the feet-stuck-to-base waddle. I’m not sure what their exact chain of command is, but in general they take orders from Leia H. I’m also not sure how they refer to each other; maybe just by military ranks?
LEGO TFA Trio - Rey, Finn, and Poe. They’re dating. Goofy, fun-loving, and a bit mischievous. They love the winter holidays because they are technically keychains, and therefore get to be Xmas tree ornaments.
Obi-Wan Kenobi - A little crochet doll who can’t speak, as he has no mouth. Somehow he manages to be extremely sarcastic anyway.

Friendly and Neutral Monsters
In Mythika there are mostly evil creatures you find on the battlefield, but sometimes (at random) there are also good-natured and neutral creatures in the battles.
Good-Natured creatures have a green glow around them and they help the heroes with beating the evil monsters (which have a red glow), but if you by accident attack these good natured creatures their green glow becomes red and they start to attack you. Most of these good creatures will boost the stats of the heroes or just attack and de-buff the stats of enemies for you, others may give you gold if they survive through the battle (like the Leprechaun) or increase your luck, strength, hp or defense. Some will heal you, others will heal diseases.
Neutral Creatures have a yellow glow around them, they won’t help the heroes and they won’t attack them, but if the hero attacks them they will fight back. Some neutral creatures will also attack evil creatures, or are being attacked by the evil red glow creatures, this is handy as this means the heroes won’t be attacked. Of course some of the neutral creatures drop good items, so you may want to attack them just for their items, or if you find that an evil deed you may let them in peace.
The battle always ends when the last red-glow evil enemies are defeated, any neutral yellow or good green creature still on the battlefield will be ignored.
Spells and Magic which hit entire rows of creatures (like blizzard, meteor storm and such spells) will also damage the yellow and green creatures, and then they will also turn red and aggressive against you, so while these creatures are mostly a good blessing, it means you can’t use some spells if you don’t want to hurt them during the battle.
This is the list of creatures that are either Yellow or Green.

Astral Chain Review - Anime Police Academy

Astral Chain Review - Anime Police Academy
Tumblr media
Seeing Astral Chain in motion may be what catches your eye, but the graceful execution of attacks is something you have to experience for yourself. Astral Chain delivers gratifying, kinetic, and inventive combat that goes beyond genre conventions–and it retains that excitement from start to finish. Couple that with an attractive art style brought to life through fluid animation and cinematic-style cuts in battle and you have yet another standout action experience from developer Platinum Games.
As an elite cop on the Neuron special task force, it’s your job to investigate the ever-growing presence of the otherworldly Chimera that threaten the world. Catastrophic incidents are abound as Chimera spill in from an alternate dimension, the astral plane, but of course there’s more to the phenomenon than meets the eye. To get to the bottom of it all, you simultaneously control both your player-character and a Legion, a separate entity with its own attacks and abilities–think of it as a Stand from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. This dynamic is at the heart of Astral Chain’s combat.
Tumblr media
Astral Chain’s sense of style bursts at the seams with each battle.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It takes time to get the hang of it, but once you do, working in tandem with a roster of Legions feels seamless. You earn Legions over time, accruing a total of five, and each one offers their own set of skills and cooldown attacks to upgrade via a skill tree. While they can be sent into the fray to perform auto-attacks, swapping between them effectively to juggle specific abilities creates the satisfaction of tearing down the monstrous Chimeras.
Initially, there are so many variables at play that it can be daunting. You have chain binds to lock enemies down for a few seconds, timing-based sync attacks that unleash devastating blows, and showstopping sync finishers that top off the wild spectacle (and replenish your health to boot). You can even get creative with combos, like utilizing the AOE stun, gravity pull, and crash bomb–all from different Legions–to concentrate a ton of damage on. Even an unchained combo lets you briefly unleash two Legions at once. And if that already seems like a lot to handle, you’ll also have to consider executing special attacks from directional inputs when it’s best to use them.
When you dig deeper into Astral Chain’s systems, you see some of its lineage–particularly the chip system of Nier: Automata, the game which Astral Chain director Takahisa Taura was lead designer on. That system manifests as Ability Codes that you equip on each of your Legions to grant them specific buffs and perks, which can significantly change how they function.
Astral Chain isn’t about running head-first into fights against monsters that seek to destroy you, though. You have to be smart about positioning, dodging, and the limited energy of your Legion. Enemies are more than just fodder; they can overwhelm you with sheer numbers, size, or speed. Some may require you to meet certain conditions to defeat them, forcing you to use non-combat abilities in the midst of the chaos. And bosses come at you with unforgiving attacks that’ll test your skill as much as your patience.

You have options for creating your own cool anime cop, it’s too bad they never really talk.

With a multitude of factors and challenges at play, combat places much more emphasis on devising the right tactics for the right situation. Astral Chain provides a tremendous box of tools that are effective in their own right and an absolute joy to use.
If there’s a fault gameplay-wise, it’s that movement can sometimes feel imprecise–don’t expect the same buttery smoothness of Bayonetta. For example, the Beast Legion’s mount mode winds up in an unpredictable direction, and the pistol combo forces you to flip backward. It may result in falling off ledges or unintentionally getting in harm’s way. Thankfully, it’s an occasional frustration that doesn’t detract from the core experience.
Astral Chain delivers gratifying, kinetic, and inventive combat that goes beyond genre conventions–and it retains that excitement from start to finish.
If you watch gameplay carefully, you quickly see how slow-motion, camera cuts, and subtle audio-visual cues in combat serve to signify opportune times to make your move. These flourishes are also how the game cements its bold sense of style. Popular manga artist Masakazu Katsura lent his hand to lead the character designs, resulting in some of the best-looking anime cops around. And when your bombastic actions in battle are matched by visually-striking momentum and tenacity, it delivers a unique thrill that makes Astral Chain special to see in motion.
Further complementing the game’s grand spectacle is its soundtrack. The groovy house tune heard in the police headquarters is infectious and the somber guitar melody at the stray cat safehouse hits like a reprieve from the chaos that envelops the world. Tense instrumentals and hard-hitting rock remixes of songs seamlessly bounce between one another during some combat missions. Unrelenting metal tracks propel boss battles and an ethereal Nier-like theme plays in the astral plane. Sprinkle in some J-rock worthy of an anime OP and Astral Chain rounds out the musical spectrum to great effect.
Astral Chain isn’t just about flashiness and stylish action, though. You’re given room to breathe between combat scenarios that comprise its chapters (or Files, as they’re called). Structurally, it’s somewhere between the traditional open world of Nier: Automata and segmented stages of Bayonetta–chapters funnel you through hub areas where you’re free to take part in side missions or explore for optional activities. Not everything is laid out on your map, so it takes some detective work to unveil all the hidden content.
Astral Chain’s shortcomings don’t overshadow what it does best. It’s an incredible execution of a fresh take on Platinum Games’ foundation, standing among the stylish-action greats.
Investigation scenarios are peppered within the main missions, where you analyze the environment and talk to locals to solve the mysteries at hand. Piecing the clues together properly awards you with a top rank, and it’s no sweat if you get things wrong. You’ll often jump into segments of the astral plane, which feature the more intense fights, and these areas incorporate light puzzle/platforming elements that ask you to use Legion powers in different ways.
The activities you undertake outside of combat aren’t exactly groundbreaking, but they provide enjoyable ways to engage with Astral Chain’s vivid world. It’s a welcome variety that also helps the pacing from chapter to chapter. Astral Chain never sits on one particular element for too long; it knows when to move on.
Tumblr media

Now, style doesn’t always equal substance. The overarching plot touches on the conventions of evil authority figures who abuse the power of science for their own agendas, and it also relates to the nature of how you’re able to wield the power of Legions, which are tamed Chimera. However, these themes are hardly explored. Rather, Astral Chain relies on cliches within its story and exposition. As a result, the more pivotal moments feel a bit less consequential. While some anime-esque tropes are just plain fun to see play out, others are borderline nonsensical even in context.
While you choose to play as a customized male or female cop on a special task force, your sibling–who’s on the same team–becomes the narrative focal point with fully voiced dialogue. Your own character is relegated to being an awkward silent protagonist. It’s disappointing because Astral Chain has so much stylistic potential to build from in order to give its lead character a distinct attitude. I can’t help but see it as a missed opportunity, especially when both characters are voiced when they’re your partner. In the end, the narrative presents stakes that are just high enough that you’ll want to see it to the end, and, thankfully, every other part of the game remains outstanding.
Astral Chain’s shortcomings don’t overshadow what it does best. It’s an incredible execution of a fresh take on Platinum Games’ foundation, standing among the stylish-action greats. And its own anime-inspired swagger makes fights all the more exhilarating. You’ll come to appreciate the calmer moments in between that add variety and offer a second to relax before jumping back into the superb combat. After 40 hours with Astral Chain, I’m still eager to take on the tougher challenges, and I’ll be grinning from ear to ear as I hit all the right moves, one after the other, while watching it all unfold.

Astral Chain Review - The Platinum Rush

Astral Chain’s sense of style bursts at the seams with each battle.
