chapter three
biker!bucky barnes x stark!reader (turf war au)
tony's mad, bucky's curious, you're questioning where you belong
warnings: violence, language, small age gap (6~ years), angst, arguing, drinking, overall crime and gang stuff, sort of enemies to lovers
series masterlist
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Are you fucking kidding me?" Tony spat as he angrily paced around the room. "Some moron paid off Quill and his gang to not fuck up The Avengers!"
"I knew we should've gone Hydra," Rhodey clicked his tongue as he looked up from scrolling on his phone.
Tony shook his head, "When I find the person who did this, I'll fuck them up myself."
Your brother's words made you increasingly nervous. It was you who paid off Quill. At least he didn't snitch that it was you. It still didn't help your nerves to see how upset Tony was.
"It was a bad idea anyways," Clint interrupted. He quickly retracted his words as Tony grabbed his collar, "Only because we should've done it ourselves!"
Bruce sighed, "We can't do anything too rash, otherwise The Asgardians won't help us."
"He's right," Vision confirmed, "They like peace until they're the ones to disrupt it. The minute we cross any lines, they're out of the picure. Bye-bye, Brooklyn."
"Kiddo, what're you thinking?" Tony called to you. You just noticed how you were picking at your skin.
With a shrug, you answered. "I'm just not a fan of all of this."
"Well they're all lying, pompous, pieces of shit." Tony scoffed. "They deserve all of this."
"But why?" You asked. The silence in the room was so much, you could've heard the dust flying around.
Tony pointed to the door, "Get out. Go home."
"But-"
"No! Go the fuck home," Tony yelled as you grabbed your bag and left the small HQ to head back to your apartment, wondering what you's said to make him that angry.
Tumblr media
"What's on your mind, Buck?" Steve asked his friend as the two of them sat in the bar. It was always pretty empty during the day. It was the two of them, a couple in the cafe, and Coulson cleaning up.
Bucky shrugged, "Nothin',"
"I know that look, it's not nothing. Come on, I won't judge you." Steve pushed. "Is it about the Stark girl?"
"I just.. don't know how to place her," Bucky admitted. "Stark's such an ass, but she's just-"
"Sweet?" Steve offered.
Bucky nodded, "Yeah, real fuckin' sweet. I mean, she could've got her ass kicked for us last night. I just don't get why she's bein' so nice when Tony's over there brainwashing her."
"I highly doubt he's doing that," Steve mused. "She wasn't around during the fallout. There's a good chance she doesn't even know what all of this is about, or you." Bucky felt his heart drop just a little when Steve added that last part. Truly, he'd never meant for Howard and Maria to get killed. He didn't know it was them transporting millions of dollars in art, otherwise he would've kept his mouth shut. "She really does seem to have a good brain in that head of hers."
"What are you thinking?" Bucky asked, watching as Steve's face twisted into that look he got when he got some brilliant idea.
Steve shrugged, "Maybe we invite her for drinks as a thank you."
"You think Stark-"
"I don't give a damn what he thinks," Steve cut Bucky off abruptly. "She's not his property. Let's give her a choice."
Bucky gave a soft sigh knowing Steve wasn't going to back off his idea. "Ask the others, let's see what they think."
"Already on it, Buck."
Tumblr media
How could Tony just kick you out like that?
What could you have said that was so bad that your own brother would kick you out?
The thoughts spiraled in your mind as you sprawled out on your couch, a long, deep sigh pouring from your lips. It was only six and it felt like the longest day in the world. Not to mention your sub-group chat without Tony was blowing up your phone. You had to mute it to shut them up. All they were rambling about was if The Guardians idea was really the right one.
Clint had texted you as well. He asked if you knew who called off Quill. It was clear by his tone he already knew it was you. Clint always knew the sneaky things you did without Tony knowing. He kept things quiet. You liked Clint the most.
A strong knock shook you from your thoughts. You weren't expecting anyone, unless maybe Clint came over to question you further since you didn't respond to his texts.
You walked up to the door and opened it, shock filling your body when you saw Steve standing there.
"Steve," You breathed, unsure of what else to say.
"Hey, Stark." Steve gave a soft smile. He looked behind you and into your apartment, reminding you to let him in. You opened the door further and scooted out of his way so he could walk in. "Small place," He commented as he looked around.
"Big enough for one person," You countered, a smile playing at your lips. Steve wasn't here for trouble. "I would ask how you know where I live, but.."
Steve chuckled, "Yeah, we've all got our connections." He took a seat at the small bar-stool you had at your counter. "Pretty early to be sitting around at home."
You looked at your clothes, glancing down to realize you were in full sweats. "Yeah, Tony and I got in a disagreement today. Kinda spoiled the mood."
"What about?" Steve asked, genuine curiosity on his face.
"It's always something, I don't even know what this one's about." You sighed as you leaned against your wall. "You here to just chat?"
Steve shook his head, "Go get dressed, you're coming out with us tonight."
"Am I?" You asked curiously. "What for?"
"A thank you," Steve explained, "For the other night with Quill and his buddies."
If it was anyone else, you'd think you were getting played. Steve was different, though. He was genuine, he didn't bullshit with his kindness. Maybe your actions had bought you a one-way ticket to Steve's friendship. If that was even what you wanted. Tony would kill you.
"I'll go get dressed." Fuck what Tony thinks.
Steve waited on the stool as you changed in your room. "Where are we going?" You called out to Steve.
"The Grove," Steve replied, his voice loud so you could hear. "It's where we always go." Second time at The Grove, how exciting. "What do you want to drink? I can let Coulson know ahead of time."
You thought for a moment, "I'll do a cosmopolitan!"
You quickly touched up your makeup and walked out of your room, back to Steve who was waiting patiently. "A cosmopolitan, good choice." Steve smiled. "You all ready?"
"Yeah, let me grab a jacket." You said, looking at the muted news on your tv. "Never mind, it's going to be eighty. I won't need that."
"Especially with alcohol in you," Steve joked, opening your door for you. "My bike's outside, you can just ride with me."
You'd actually only ridden on a bike a small amount. Clint had one, but everyone else in the Syndicates had nice cars. It felt thrilling to be on a bike again. It made you feel even better when Steve handed you a helmet to wear. Thrilling but safe!
Tumblr media
The Avengers and yourself were definitely a little bit tipsy at this point.
You were sat right in between Wanda and Natasha, who's head was currently on your shoulder to keep her upright as she laughed so hard she was shaking.
"And then he screamed louder than anyone," Natasha paused to wheeze in a breath. "I've ever heard!"
The table erupted in laugher, all besides Sam, who's face was heated while he scoffed. "It isn't that funny."
"No, it really is." Wanda waved him off as she hiccuped in laughter.
The only person not laughing besides Sam was Bucky. He was just oddly smiling to himself, unable to look up from his lap. Clearly the story had made him amused, but he couldn't look up at you.
"I would give all the money in the world to hear that." You admitted as you sipped your drink.
Natasha sat up quickly, "Here, let me try and replicate it for you." She falsettoed her voice and gave the most feminine, soft screech you'd ever heard, causing everyone to laugh once more.
"It did not sound like that," Sam muttered. "I'm too sober for this shit." He waved down Coulson for another one of his drinks.
"Okay, Stark. Give us something, you basically are surrounded by half-men all day. You have to have some funny story." Wanda asked as she set her attention on you.
You felt uneasy with the spotlight now on you. "Uhm," You hesitated. Honestly, you couldn't remember a time that was really funny. You were never invited to those sorts of hangouts. "I don't know."
"What?" Natasha was still smiling, but it was slightly falling as she shook her head. "You have to have something."
"I actually want to circle back to when Sam tried to flirt with that stripper who immediately tried to make him her toddler's daddy." You hoped the reference would side-track the table, which it immediately did as Wanda and Natasha cackled.
The look on Steve's face was telling; he knew exactly what was going on inside your head, and that was scary. You were quick to notice that was the first time Bucky had laid eyes on you, too. You turned your head to Wanda as she told the story, Sam trying his best to shut her up as she spoke.
Steve's face turned to stone, but inside, he was going over a thousand different thoughts. The first step to his new plan was getting Bucky and yourself acquainted.
"Bucky, do you think you could take Stark home for me?"

I'm From Brooklyn, Too ~ 162
OUT OF TIME MASTERLIST
I'M FROM BROOKLYN, TOO MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
< previous chapter
Word Count: 2,060ish
Summary: Y/N and Bucky begin talking again. The bracelets Y/N wears aren't her friends. (warning: seizure)
Notes: Make sure you read Out Of Time to fully understand this!
Tumblr media
Previously on I’m From Brooklyn, Too…
The bracelets felt heavy on Y/N’s wrists, despite knowing they were lighter than most. Everyone had left after Y/N recorded an apology video. She hated that she had to do that, especially since she meant the threats she made to the false Captain America. Currently, it was dark outside. Morgan was asleep in bed, and Y/N sat on the porch, staring at the water. The peace was interrupted by her phone buzzing. She answered it before even looking at who was calling.
“Hello?” She answered.
“Hey, Y/N,” Bucky’s voice rang out through the phone. “How are you?”
“Bucky?”
“Yeah, it’s me.”
“You…”
“I know, I should have answered your calls months ago… I’m sorry.”
“Why now?”
“I, uh, I saw the interview… and the apology video.”
“You did? And?”
“And I’m on your side. Sam should be wielding the shield. Steve chose Sam.”
“Is that all?”
“No… I saw you… I saw your portal a few weeks ago.”
“I don’t know—“
“Don’t try to lie. I know what I saw… why were you there, Y/N?”
“Why do you think, Bucky?” Her tone was harsh and emotional.
“Y/N—“
“No. You don’t get to do this. You don’t have the right to call and ask me questions. You left. I needed you, and you left.”
Bucky scoffed. “Yeah, kissing Tony was really needing me.”
“He was fake, Bucky! A figment of my imagination! I escaped Wanda’s false reality only for to have left! I find out my brother is dying, and you still weren’t there. You didn’t answer calls. You didn’t show up to the funeral… you left…”
“Y/N… I’m so sorry…”
“Honestly, Buck, I’m sorry too… For you and for me.” Y/N took a deep breath and looked up. “What the hell have our lives become?”
“Something neither of us could have ever imagined.”
“Never,” she shook her head.
“I’m going to talk to Sam tomorrow. I’m going to fix this.”
“I wish I could go with you, Buck. I’ve left Morgan too much and I’m basically on house arrest after what I did.”
“I know. I’ll keep you updated.”
“You will? You’re not going to disappear on me again?”
“No, I’m not.”
“You’re going to have to prove it.”
“I know.”
Y/N sighed, her thoughts racing. “We need to sit down and have an actual conversation.”
“I know… once this is all over.”
“Promise?”
“Doll…” Y/N sucked in a breath at the nickname. “I promise.”
“Good night, Bucky.”
“Good night, Y/N.”
~~~
“So, he called,” Natasha stated as she sat at the kitchen island, coffee in hand.
“He did,” Y/N replied as she did the breakfast dishes.
“And?”
“And I don’t know, Nat. It went well… I guess.” Y/N sighed, turning around as she dried her hands. “It definitely could have gone worse.” She came and sat beside Natasha. “He’s going to talk to Sam today.”
“I hope those two can figure something out without being complete idiots.” Nat took a sip of her coffee. “How are the bracelets?”
“Fine… I’ve worn bracelets similar to this, you know? Way back when I was working on Coulson’s secret team, and my powers were just appearing.”
“What a lifetime ago.”
Y/N let out a light chuckle. “You’ve got that right… I’d forgotten how quiet is it when I don’t have my powers in here.” She tapped her head. “I haven’t even had them back for a year yet and I’ve already forgotten what it’s like without them.”
“That can be scary.”
“What’s scary is that I think everyone is right… I think they are controlling me.”
“You’ll get through this, Y/N, you always do.”
“But do I? Or does the next bad thing happen before I can fully get my mind around the last one?”
~~~
“Mommy, watch this!” Morgan shouted before doing a summersault.
“I’m watching!” Y/N smiled as she paused her exercises to watch her daughter.
The two of them were down in the training room. Y/N decided that picking up training again would help her get her mind off of things. Morgan asked to join and now it was a daily thing. Morgan completed her summersault through her giggles. Y/N smiled and clapped.
“Way to go, sweetheart!” Y/N cheered. Morgan ran over, and the duo gave each other double high-fives. “You’re getting so good at that, Morgan.”
“Auntie Nat has helped me practice!”
“I’m sure she has.”
“She said she was a spy.”
“She was.”
“She said that you were too.” Flashes of memory played before Y/N’s eyes. Morgan came over and tugged on Y/N’s arm. “Is that true, Mommy? Were you a spy?”
“Uh, well, I—“
“Y/N,” Natasha’s voice rang through the room. “We have a situation up here.”
“Morgan, why don’t you go play in your room while Mom tries to figure out what Aunt Natasha wants?”
“Okay!” Morgan nodded and quickly ran up the stairs.
Y/N followed behind her, but instead of heading up the next set of stairs, she met Natasha in the office.
“What’s going on?” Y/N asked.
“Zemo has escaped prison,” Natasha stated.
“What? Why?”
“No idea.”
“Who would have—“ Y/N stopped herself. “I need to make a phone call.” She pulled out her phone and called the most recent number.
“Hello?” Bucky answered.
“What the hell did you do?”
“For the record, it was Sam as well.”
“That doesn’t make it any better! What could you possibly need with Zemo?”
“Sam found out that other super soldiers were being made, and we’re stopping it.”
“Super soldiers? There’s a serum out there?”
“It appears so.”
“Do you need help?”
“Not at the moment. I’ll let you know, though.”
“No, you won’t.”
Bucky ignored the jab. “I met John Walker.”
“Really? Did you take the shield from him?”
“Unfortunately, I didn’t get to… I hate him, Y/N.”
“Join the club.”
“Sam and I are handling this, okay? You have to trust us.”
“I was more trusting until Zemo became involved… At least let me send Natasha.”
“Not a chance. Someone has to stay with you.”
“He has a point,” Nat muttered.
“Fine. But any more stupid decisions, I need to hear straight from you. Got it?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Bucky responded. “Got to go. Call you later.”
“This man is going to kill me,” Y/N mumbled as Bucky hung up.
“How many super soldiers do you think are out there?” Natasha asked.
“Who knows,” Y/N sighed. Her right hand went to her left bracelet. “I should be helping them.”
“You need to be here. Security is tight, but there’s basically an army out there wanting you kill you. It’s safer to be here. Bucky and Sam can handle themselves and whatever mess they’ve gotten themselves into. For Morgan’s stake, you need to stay here.”
~~~
Peter and Harley showed up the next day, saying that they were missing Morgan. Y/N knew that Pepper and Rhodey were behind the boys’ appearance, probably hoping that it would distract you from your current situation. Morgan was happy to see them, which in turn helped Y/N.
“Uh, Mrs. Stark?” Peter said, coming up to her one morning.
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh. “How many times must I ask you to call me Y/N?”
“Sorry, uh, Y/N.”
“What’s up, Pete?”
“Could you—uh—could you train with me this morning? I’m trying to work on my strength and technique and I figured—“
“I’d love to Peter. Meet me down in the training rooms in 15.”
Peter hurried off and Natasha smiled at Y/N. “That will be good for the two of you,” she commented. “You need to work on your technique without your powers away.”
“I’ll pretend that wasn’t a jab at me.” Y/N stood up from the dining table. “When Morgan wakes, let me know. I promised that we’d paint this morning.”
“Will do.”
~~~
Peter was right on time and the two quickly began sparring. Y/N began to feel like something was off with herself but pushed it aside. She believed that it was just her body getting used to pushing itself without her powers. Y/N and Peter continued, with her giving tips throughout the spar. Slowly, Y/N began to feel tingly in some areas of her body and numb in others. She swayed slightly, causing Peter to stop his movements.
“Mrs—Y/N?” Peter called, but it sounded so far away. “Are you alright?”
“Pete…” She breathed out. “Get help…”
Suddenly, Y/N collapsed on the floor and begun seizing. Peter was quick to move next to her and make sure her airway could be cleared.
“FRIDAY!” Peter shouted. “Get Natasha!”
“I’m right here!” Natasha said as she appeared beside the two. “Harley has Morgan and FRIDAY has called for an ambulance.”
“What can we do?”
“We have to wait it out, make sure she can still breathe.”
“That’s it?”
“For now.”
~~~
Y/N could smell where she was before she even opened her eyes. It smelt too clean, like bleach. There was also a soft beep of nearby monitors and the feeling of a needle in her arm that led Y/N to know where she was. Opening her eyes, she had to blink a few times before she was able to focus. The hospital room was big, probably because they knew who she was, and Natasha was the only other person there, sitting on a chair beside her.
“The seizure had to have been bad if I’m at the hospital,” Y/N rasped, pulling Natasha’s attention from her tablet.
Natasha reached over and grabbed a cup of water, handing it to Y/N. “The worst I’ve seen you have for a few years now,” she responded.
"Where are the kids?”
“Pepper and Happy have Morgan. May came and grabbed Peter and Harley.”
“Did Pete see everything?”
“He did, but he did good. Stayed by your side the whole ride to the hospital while I took care of Morgan and Harley.”
Y/N stared at the ceiling. “He shouldn’t have to see me like that.”
Natasha sighed. “I know… Rhodey is on his way.”
“The President shouldn’t be bothered by a simple seizure.”
“It’s not that simple, Y/N.”
“Natasha is right,” Rhodey said, entering the room. “It’s not that simple.”
“Sorry to pull you from your duties, Mr. President,” Y/N smiled, trying to joke.
“Y/N,” he sighed, “you’re family. You, Morgan, Natasha, the whole Team, are my duty to care for.”
“Now you’re sounding like Tony.”
“Maybe because someone needs to be right now.”
“What’s going on?”
“The reason for your seizure.”
“I know the reason for my seizure and I’m honestly surprised I didn’t have one the moment these bracelets were put on me.”
“The doctor told me that if your seizures continue to be like this and if they come on more frequently, you could have severe consequences,” Natasha stated.
“We need to decide if the seizures are worth keeping the bracelets on you,” Rhodey said. “I think that we need to consider keeping them on you and Nat—“
“I think they come off today. Powers can be controlled. We can’t afford Morgan losing another parent when she doesn’t have to.”
“Y/N’s powers are different, we all know that. That’s why the bracelets were made and why we brought them up.”
“They are just as dangerous as her powers! Do you really want Morgan to lose her mother too?”
“Of course I don’t! But we have to think about—“
“Enough!” Y/N shouted. Rhodey and Natasha quickly quieted down and looked over at Y/N. “This is not your choice. It is mine and mine alone.”
“You know it’s not that simple.”
“As do you, Rhodey… I need some time alone. I need to think.”
“We can give you that time,” Natasha said. She reached over and squeezed Y/N’s hand before standing up and guiding Rhodey out of the room.
With a sigh, Y/N reached over and took her phone from the side table. She quickly pressed a recent number and waited for a response.
“Y/N, I know that I promised to call. I’m sorry. But right now—“
“Bucky,” tears were collecting in her eyes, “I need you.”
Chapter 15
Tumblr media
Warnings: None. (Will however be a 18+ reader book)
Copyright: I do not own any Marvel characters or locations. However, I do own a few OCs like Elizabeth, Katherine, Stacy, and Jessie. I do not condone any copying of this.
The next few minutes seemed to pass in a blur. Maybe that was because of the adrenaline of trying to outrun these military-type men. Maybe it was because the Bahaman sun was glaring off all the water and sand. Or maybe it was because of all the tears that were dropping down your face in streams.
You felt terrible for so many reasons. You felt like there was something you should've been able to do. What? No idea. But something. For another, you felt guilty for having misjudged him and so harshly. It was hard for parents to love other children of different soulmate parentage, unless you were already blood related or soul related. Like if Maria had Fury's kid, Coulson would still love the kid.
It was why adoption was so rare in this world. It was just to hard.
So now, your feet pounded down the sidewalk, aware that the men behind you were shouting for you to stop with heavy accents. So they probably wanted you alive. That was both comforting and terrifying.
You turned the corner and found half of the Avengers running up towards you. Of course, with tears in your eyes, you misjudged the distance and ran flat into Steve's chest.
"Y/N, are you hurt?" Steve and Bucky were the only ones that stopped running to make sure you were alright while the others descended upon the soldiers that had just come around the corner.
"T-they killed my d-dad." You hiccupped.
"Oh doll." Bucky said softly, pulling you into a hug before shooting his gun over your shoulder. "I'm sorry."
Steve flung his shield out, "Take her back to the hotel Buck."
Bucky nodded, scooping you up with his metal arm, shooting at anyone that came at the two of you with his flesh hand. You hiked it back to the hotel where Loki and Thor were just about to head out, apparently only just now hearing about the fight. Nat was also there, loading up on guns and knives while Bruce was slowly, but surely turning green.
"Y/N?" Loki asked carefully as Thor flew out the hotel with his flying hammer to join the fight.
"She's physically fine." Bucky told Loki, "But she watched her father die."
"Poor thing." Loki murmured, pulling you into his arms, "I'll take her back up to her room and run her a hot bath."
"Good idea." Bucky murmured, kissing the top of your head, "Are you going to be okay, doll?"
You nodded, feeling a bit dazed. "I'm o-okay."
Bucky smiled a bit sympathetically, running his thumb over your cheek tenderly before running back out of the hotel again.
Loki teleported up to your bedroom, laying you down on the bed, going into the bathroom. You could hear him running the bath in the other room, the steady rushing of pounding water against ceramic echoing through your ears.
Finally, you heard the tap being slammed off. Loki came back. "You okay about taking it by yourself?"
You kind've just stared at him. You couldn't remember if you'd ever seen anyone die before.
Loki decided to take your silence for 'no'. He picked you up in his slender, yet muscular arms, carrying you into the bathroom. He settled you into the bubble bath, which smelt like mint and chamomile. Two very calming scents.
After a few moments, you came back down to Earth, realizing that you were still in your bathing suit.
You looked at Loki, "I'm still dressed?"
Loki smiled a little, "Well, I wasn't going to undress you without your consent pet."
You smiled a little and then it dropped off your face, "He. . . he told me the truth. About the prophesy surrounding me and how after I get married, I can't be used to end the soulmate bond. And he told me that he isn't my biological father, he is an FBI agent. And that my adopted mother died taking a bullet for me without me even knowing."
Loki's face was sympathetic and sweet as he rubbed your arms softly with the bar of soap. "I'm sorry My Queen."
"Did you know about the prophesy?"
"I'm sure I've read about it somewhere." Loki said nonchalantly. "Especially now that you've brought it up. But it wasn't something that popped in my mind upon meeting you or spending time with you."
You just nodded. "Did any of them know?"
Loki thought about it for a moment, "Perhaps the wizard? He reads just as much as I do. I'm not really sure about any of the others. Thor definitely does not, he isn't a big reader."
"I don't understand. Why would the ones who want soulmate bonds to stay try to kill me? Why wouldn't they just push me to get married faster?"
Loki shrugged, "Midgardians- and most species out there- don't ever make any sense when it comes to things that scare them. In three days this is all over pet. You don't have to worry. Although, we would all understand if you wanted to postpone the wedding for a funeral for your father."
Postponing the wedding sounded good. You weren't sure how you were supposed to act like you were happy when your father wasn't going to be there. It was so strange how quickly your attitude towards him had changed. Or maybe. . . maybe you'd just loved him all along.
On the other hand, postponing would give those on both sides more time to either attempt to kidnap you to use you, or attempt to kill you. What if it wasn't your father next time? What if it was one of your soulmates instead? Or your sister?
"No, I want to go through with the wedding. If we could speed it up, I would." You answered.
Loki dipped his head slightly.
"Loki?"
"Yes my Queen?"
"Can you untie the back of the bathing suit top?"
"Of course."
You leaned forward a little bit so that he could untie the stretchy strings that were holding the bathing suit top up. His fingers were nimble, deftly pulling out the knot that would probably have taken you a solid five minutes to get out. He pulled the strings free, letting them fall against your back when he was done.
You slid off the top and then pulled the bottoms off, soaking more fully in the tub. Your body didn't show as the bubbles from the bath covered most of your body up.
"Are you feeling better?" He asked as he clipped your wet swimsuit to hangers, hanging them up so that they could dry. How was he so good at home chores?
Loki summoned that book of poetry that he had read to you in the library. He read lots of different poems. The last one, he liked so much, that he tried to explain why he loved it so much. It went something like this:
One fine morning in the middle of the night,
two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back they faced each other
draw out the swords and shot each other.
A deaf policemen heard this noise
and shot the two dead boys.
If you don't believe my lies to be true,
ask the blind man, he saw it too!
"I mean, the entire thing is a paradox." Loki said with absolute delight. "I mean, cause morning in the middle of the night, and back to back they faced each other! I mean, they're complete opposites in the same sentence."
You giggled, feeling a little lighter. "Loki, I heard the poem too."
"Sorry, it's just such good writing. And humorous as well." Loki said, delight in his eyes. You watched how passionately he spoke about writing that he liked.
After you finally felt a little better, you drained the bathtub. Loki put the book away, fetching you a fluffy towel that he wrapped around your bodice, helping you out of the tub so you didn't slip.
He let you dry off and get dressed while he kept his back to you. "Hey Loki, do you think we can have the second soulmate dinner up here? I don't know, just some random food or something. . . I don't really want to leave tonight."
"Of course, I'll let Tony know." Loki said softly. You could hear his fingers tapping on the phone.
After a half hour, the others came up with a lot of Chinese food. You all sat on the floor in the living room section, a few of them on the one couch. You leaned against Bucky's legs, sitting with Clint on one side of you and Thor on the other.
Dinner started with the heavy conversation. All of the soldiers were either dead, or they had been taken into custody to be questioned. Then you had provided with what your father had told you. You knew your sister was the one who needed to hear this, but you were still torn about whether or not you should tell her.
Most of them had heard about the prophesy, but the only one that had really connected me to it was Fury. Even Stephen hadn't, something he looked rather embarrassed to admit.
I was also made aware that my father's body was on ice until after the wedding. Now that they all knew exactly why people were coming after me, they all adamantly agreed on having the wedding as it was planned. Steve and Bucky even wanted to know if it was possible to speed up the process.
It was decided that there would always be at least one of them at all times. Which was fine with me. It was decided that I would be hanging out with Tony, Stephen, Wong, and Rhodey tomorrow.
Things came to a close quickly before everyone started to file out after wishing you a good night with some sort of affectionate hug or kiss on the forehead, cheek, or even lips.
Bucky was the last one and you suddenly felt the urge to grab his arm and say, "Bucky."
Bucky looked down at you, Steve and Sam pausing. You wanted to ask him to stay with you tonight. You didn't want to be left alone in this room, although Fury had promised that no one would be able to get in.
Then you realized that it might look like favoritism to the others and you let go of his arm and said, "Good night."
"Night Doll." Bucky said, kissing your cheek before walking down the hallway with Steve and Sam, throwing his arm over either of their shoulders.
Even though they were your soulmates, in that moment, it felt like they were something you could never be a part of.
----------------
You tossed and turned, unable to get to sleep. Suddenly, there was a ding on your phone.
🪣🦾❤️: You still awake?
Y/N 🍸: Yes
🪣🦾❤️: One second
Three minutes later there was a knock on your door. You slid out of bed, peeping through the hole to see Bucky standing there. You opened up the door, "What are you doing here Buck?"
He held out his hand, "Come on. Let's go see some wild cats."
You smiled, taking his hand. The two of you walked through the semi empty hallways before going downstairs. Though it was past midnight and all the stores and shops were closed, there were still couples milling about.
Bucky led the two of you outside, and you guys walked for a bit. You could see lots of different cats that just looked like normal house cats walking around, drinking water from puddles or little bowls of milk that had been left outside of certain shops.
Bucky and you sat down on some steps by one of the pools. He put his arm around you and after a while, a white cat approached the two of you. It put its' paws on Bucky's knee, pushing up on its back legs to get closer to his face.
Bucky smiled before revealing a bunch of fish that he had in a little baggy. They were dead, but still in water to keep them fresh. He must've gone fishing at one point.
He held one of the fish out to the cat. The cat picked it up daintily, before promptly deciding to eat it right there. You looked away, staring up at the galaxy instead while you listened to Bucky absolutely adore the cat.
"Aww, you're so adorable. Yes, eat the fishy like a good little kitty. There you go, that's it. Awww~"
You smiled a bit. Yes, you should definitely get a cat when you guys went back.
Eventually, a few other cats wandered over, either because you were the most interesting thing around, or because they could smell the fish on Bucky. He gave all of them away and the cats were immediately curling up around us.
You scratched one behind the ears, loving how smooth, though slightly coarse the fur of the cat was. "We should get a cat or two when we get back home. Loki wants one too."
"Really?" Bucky sounded both surprised and excited.
"Yep. Black cats especially." You said with a slight smirk.
"Ah yes. A witches cat." Bucky said with a grin.
You laughed again and then yawned. The hot air was suddenly making you rather tired and you laid your head down on his shoulder. "That's alright doll, you can fall asleep. I'll carry you back up to your room."
"Don't wanna be alone." You mumbled.
"Okay. You don't have to be." Bucky whispered. You could hear him saying sad good-byes to the cats, before there was a sweeping motion and you snuggled into his arms.
"I love you Buckaroo." You mumbled, "So much."
"I love you too Y/N." He said and you could feel his lips lightly press to the temple of your head. "Gonna take care of you forever, I promise."
You smiled, feeling one tear slip down your cheek, though you weren't entirely sure why. All you knew, was that you were happy, content, and loved.
You fell asleep before you even reached the hotel.
TV’s number one crime-solving nun is back in action—and will be celebrating the holidays this winter.
Filming has started, in and around the Cotswolds, on the fourth series of the BBC Studios drama Sister Boniface Mysteries, created by Jude Tindall. It will air next year on BritBox International and on UKTV’s U&Drama in the UK. It has also been announced that the show will return for another feature-length Christmas special this December, written by Tindall and directed by Paul Gibson. See photos of Lorna Watson, who plays Sister Boniface, on the set and in the Christmas special above and below.
“It’s brilliant to be back with the gang for series four,” said Watson in a statement. “I feel very lucky to be part of such a lovely show and can’t wait to get cracking, solving crime in the Cotswolds sunshine.”
In addition to Watson as the Vespa driving, crime-solving, Catholic nun, also returning are Max Brown as DI Sam Gillespie, Jerry Iwu as DS Felix Livingstone, and Ami Metcalf as WPC Peggy Button. The Series 4 guest cast includes Les Dennis, Katherine Kingsley, Martyn Ellis, Mina Anwar, Ed Birch, and Daniel Laurie.
The Christmas special features the Great Slaughter Amateur Dramatics Society (GSADS) pantomime. This year it’s Cinderella and with the appointment of a celebrity director the pressure is on to deliver their biggest and best performance yet. Rehearsals begin, but soon cast members start dropping like flies. Can Sister Boniface catch the killer before they strike again? Will GSADS give the public the festive theatrical treat they deserve? And, most importantly, can Sam and Felix pull off a polka in a pantomime horse?
Also coming up in the series, a bucking bronco goes haywire on the set of a game show, a killer scarecrow stalks the streets of Great Slaughter, the Scottish invade, a femme fatale drops to her death in a stunt gone wrong, and CC Lowsley (Robert Dawes) has arranged some team building. Meanwhile, Reverend Mother Adrian (Carolyn Pickles) is keeping a secret, and it could tear the Sisters lives apart.
“I’m thrilled that TV’s favourite forensic nun is returning for a fourth series. The alchemy created by Jude, Lorna and our wonderful cast and Midlands crew continues to delight viewers worldwide,” Neil Irvine, Executive Producer at BBC Studios said. “This series sees a serial killer on the loose at the Christmas Pantomime and a threat to the convent itself. I can’t wait for the audience to find out if this is the end for St Vincent’s…”
Sister Boniface Mysteries is made by BBC Studios Drama Productions as a co-production for BritBox International and UKTV. The script producer is Dawn Coulson-Beckett. Executive producers are Neil Irvine for BBC Studios, Stephen Nye and Robert Schildhouse for BritBox International, and Claire Hookway for UKTV.
FINDING YOU Chapter 7
Tumblr media
Summary: You're in a relationship with Steve Rogers, but his best friend just always seems to be around!
Word Count: 5.6K
Warnings: angst, self doubt
MASTERLIST
CHAPTER 7
“You didn't love her, you just met her!” Bucky laughed.
It was the most relaxed you’d seen him in a public setting and it warmed your heart. Bucky had become your best friend in the months following your trip to the mountains. You were awkwardly watching Bucky, Steve and Peggy having a conversation from a distance feeling afraid to approach, despite your conversation with Peggy, you still felt apprehensive. Your partially concealed attention may have been considered eavesdropping.
“I thought you said she wasn't real.” Steve said with bravado, but you could tell he was trying not to blush.
“My pal here was sure this ‘woman’ was the only one who would love him,” Bucky teased.
“Who was she?” Peggy asked. Did she have a hint of apprehension in her voice? Was there more he had kept from her?
“Her name was Dottie. She was from somewhere over the rainbow. I thought I was saving her, but she ended up saving me.”
“I think he got caught in the rain after seeing the Wizard of Oz and was delirious from the pneumonia he developed.” Bucky interjected.
“I guess in the end she made me feel like there was hope for me. And there was.” Steve took Peggy’s hand. “I still believe it happened. But I know it wasn’t real, it wasn’t love.”
You had wished you hadn't stuck around to listen to this story. Your curiosity for the man you loved had taken over but wanted to scrub his words from your brain. The words Steve had spoken had no malice, but his firm simple matter of fact denial of his feelings, or lack thereof was devastating.
You wandered away from the crowd that surrounded Steve and Peggy lost in a haze of your thoughts. He had never cared for you. It was Peggy, it had always been her and always would be. Had he cared about you at all? Had you imagined the connection you’d felt with him. The whole year you’d spent in each other's arms, it had all been a lie.
It wasn’t long before you found yourself at the bar, nursing a large glass of chardonnay. Oh how tempting it was to drink down to the bottom of the bottle, but instead you stared at the smudged fingerprints of your hand on the glass, lost in a storm of negativity. Every criticism you’d heard, every derogatory thought you’d had about yourself came crashing over you, every insult, every taunt pulled you under, deeper and deeper into despair.
All the years you’d spent at medical school amounted to nothing, the years with S.H.I.E.L.D. hadn’t borne any fruit. You hadn’t made a difference to the world, not like her. You’d been living in her shadow ever since you’d made the decision to join Coulson’s team. What were you even doing with your life now? Deep down, you knew that you had made a difference in the lives of many, but what was a few individuals compared to the legacy created by Peggy Carter. Of course he hadn’t chosen you.
There was a tightness in your chest, a black cloud which descended on you. The darkness spread through you, creeping into every corner of your being, poisoning your soul and corrupting your thoughts. You were so lost in your despondency that you didn’t notice Bucky sitting down beside you.
It wasn’t until he snapped his metal fingers in front of your face that you were able to acknowledge his presence.
“Oh hey Buck.”
“Don’t ‘hey Buck’ me. What’s wrong?”
You opened your mouth with the intention of speaking, but your throat felt thick with emotion and you couldn’t find the words to describe how you felt without tears falling. So you stayed silent, shrugging slightly in response.
Bucky studied your features intensely as you took a mouthful of wine to avoid further conversation. In the end, he decided not to press the issue. He ordered a bourbon and sat with you in silence. Bucky’s presence always seemed to give you comfort, his solid non invasive nature made him the perfect companion when you didn’t want to talk. You were about to order your third glass of wine, but he stopped you.
“Are you sure?”
“Pretty sure.”
“It’s just going to make you feel worse.”
“I don’t care.”
“Why don’t I take you home?”
“That’s fine, I have wine there.”
Bucky rolled his eyes, but dismounted the barstool. He offered you a hand but you pushed him away. It was only to your detriment, as you’d consumed two large glasses of wine on an empty stomach and you weren’t as stable as you’d have liked.
“Come on.”
You followed him, teetering along until you reached his bike. He handed you his helmet which you accepted reluctantly.
“What about you?”
“I’ll be fine,” he smiled at your concern for him. “Come on.”
You put the helmet on and climbed onto the motorcycle behind him. You wrapped your arms around his waist as Bucky sped down the street. The protective helmet was snug around your head and the warmth of Bucky’s back against your front made you feel safer than you had all evening. You felt yourself letting out the grief you’d been fighting to keep buried all evening. Tears slipped down your face in the confines of the safety helmet as you wept.
The ride home was taking a little longer than expected, not that you objected to the scenic detour that Bucky had taken. You were glad that you were able to stop crying before you reached your apartment.
“Thanks Bucky,” you mumbled, not making any moves to remove the helmet.
“Any chance I can get my helmet back?”
“Unlikely.” You didn’t want him to see your red puffy eyes.
You were locked in a stalemate. Bucky wasn’t volunteering to leave and you made no further moves to dismiss him or invite him in.
In the end it was Bucky who made a lateral move and swung his leg back over his bike.
"Get on."
You decided not to challenge him and hopped back on behind him. He made a few swift turns and pulled up in front of an iHOP.
You smiled at the thought of pancakes and your stomach rumbled loudly in anticipation. Bucky twisted round to look at you. It was almost like he could see through the reflective visor surface.
"Pancakes won't work if you keep that thing on."
"Fine."
You pulled off the protective headgear, grateful that Bucky made no mention of your tear stained face. You followed him inside where you found a table in a shadowy corner. Wordlessly, he handed you a napkin giving you a chance to wipe your face. You were surprised at how he had taken control of the situation, normally Bucky was very docile with your interactions, preferring to comply with your every demand. Before you knew what was happening, he had placed an order for both of you and you were silently tucking into strawberry covered pancakes. It was only when you'd finished that Bucky turned on you.
"What happened?"
It wasn't a question, it was a command.
You sighed. "Bucky…"
"Tell me."
The look in his eyes almost frightened you, giving you a momentary glimpse of the last thing his enemies might have seen before their encounter with The Winter Soldier. You blinked and that look was gone. It was almost as though he was angry. It wasn’t that you were afraid of Bucky, you knew you could trust him, but you were glad that those days were behind him. The wildness and fury in his eyes, his dilated pupils a midnight blue, the icy fire you caught, that wasn’t something you’d have wanted to encounter in a dark alley.
Just as suddenly as it had appeared, the look was gone and your friend with his gentle easy going manner was back in front of you. It was so short lived that you wondered if you’d imagined it.
“Ace?”
"I thought he loved me," you admitted dismally. You felt foolish for hoping that Steve might still harbor feelings for you even though he'd made his choice clear.
"I don't understand."
"He said it didn't mean anything. What we had was nothing."
You didn't need to tell Bucky who he was.
"When?"
"Just now," you waved your fork in the direction you thought the party was continuing. "You were there."
"Steve wasn't talking about you."
"Yes, he was," you said quietly. “Okay, I’m not sure how to even start explaining this. But I’ll try. You’ll have to be patient with this crazy story. Okay?”
“Alright.” Bucky looked at you quizzically, but nodded in agreement.
“So a few years ago, my team and I ended up getting involved in a war against the Chronicoms.”
“Chronicoms?”
“They’re an extremely advanced and ancient race of synthetic, semi-robotic beings that operate in the galaxy as observers. They have a strict code of not interfering with the natural course of life on a planet. With one exception: to prevent an extinction-level event.”
“Extinction?”
“Extinction,” you confirmed.
“Thanos didn’t count?”
“Thanos didn’t,” you shook your head.
“Wow. So what extinction level event were you involved in?”
“Cliff notes version, because that's a whole other story. The Chronicoms planet came under siege and they wanted to establish Earth as their new home. They harnessed the powers of the Time Di’Allas to go back in time to change-”
“Woah, woah, I’m sorry, Time Di’Allas?”
“It’s a giant monolith artifact which has time travel properties. Understand?”
“No, but I’m not sure I’m going to understand more than half your story.”
“May I continue then?”
Bucky held out his hands, as if to say ‘the floor is all yours’.
“So they went back in time to try and destroy S.H.I.E.L.D. And we followed them. Anyway, I got stuck in early 1939. It was barely over twenty four hours but the Chronicom Hunters spent the whole time trying to kill me.”
Images flashed through your mind as you told Bucky the story as you remembered it.
Your heart was pounding as you ran through the streets of New York City. The hunters were on your tail and they were vicious, showing no mercy to anyone who crossed their path. Your throat burned as every breath stretched your lungs to the max. At any second, your body was going to give out. Lactic acid was scorching the insides of your veins, your legs were feeling heavy and you were losing speed.
To make things worse, it started to rain. Dark clouds loomed overhead, reducing visibility and the wet cobblestones made your feet slip and slide as you pushed one drenched shoe in front of the other.
You knew your luck was about to run out, as you rounded a corner, a last minute decision to zig rather than zag. It was a fatal error in your calculations as your feet went sliding in different directions and you landed face down in a puddle. A groan escaped your lips as you pushed yourself up and small pebbles pierced the skin of your palms and ripped your pants. You stood up, brushing your palms off when you came face to face with a brick wall. You sighed, turning to face the opening of the alley, ready to fight for your life.
“Hey!” A voice hissed at you from behind you.
You turned but didn’t see anything.
“Over here!” The voice called again.
This time you caught sight of a slender built blonde haired man behind a fence.  He was beckoning to you. You looked back and forth between the alley entrance and the stranger behind the fence. It didn’t take much time to calculate that you would more likely stand your own defending yourself against a single rather scrawny looking man versus three Chronicom Hunters with sophisticated weapons of destruction. You decided to take your chances with the man.
He held the fence open and you slipped through the gap.
“Come on, this way.”
You followed him silently, stalking through small back alleys until you reached a movie theater.
“We can duck in here.” Steve smiled at you.
“Thank you.”
“Two please.” Steve pulled out his wallet and bought two tickets.
“What movie are we seeing?” you asked.
“It’s something new, just released yesterday. It’s called The Wizard of Oz.”
A grin spread across your face. “I’m sure it will be incredible.”
The two of you hurried into the screening room and claimed two seats in the back just as the room darkened and trailers started up.
“Thanks for helping me out back there,” you whispered.
“No problem.”
“Why did you?”
The blonde shrugged. “I don’t like bullies.”
It was such a simple answer, an honest one. Something you hadn’t heard in a while and you appreciated the sentiment. You settled back and tried to enjoy the movie, every once in a while you glanced towards the door, but no one appeared and your heart rate settled back into a normal range.
The movie came to a close with Dorothy telling Aunt Em that she had been in Oz. "I’m so glad to be at home again!”
The lights came up and people began to file out.
“So-”
“So! Thanks again for helping me.” You smiled at him gratefully.
Now that the lights were brighter, you could see his face more clearly along with the blush which had spread across his delicate features. He didn’t quite meet your eyes when you spoke to him.
“I don’t think we’ve been properly introduced. I’m-”
He stopped as you pressed two fingers to his lips to silence him. He stared at you in surprise and it was your turn to blush as you pulled your hand away.
“Sorry. I just don’t think we should learn too much about each other. Those people that are looking for me are incredibly clever at getting information from people. The less we know about each other the better it is.”
“Alright.” Steve didn’t look surprised that a girl didn’t want to know who he was.
“I do need something to call you though. How about Daniel?”
“That’s fine,” he stammered back at you. “You’re not leaving?”
“I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind helping me out a little more?”
“Of course,” Steve replied eagerly.
“My friends will be back to get me soon. I was wondering if you knew somewhere I could lay low for a while?”
“I think I have an idea.”
You smiled.
“So if I’m going to help you out, what do I call you?”
You thought for a moment, before a smirk crept across your face. “I’m Dorothy.”
“Nice to meet you, Dottie.” Steve smiled. “Come on, before they throw us out.”
You followed his lead. Steve shoved his hands in his pockets as he strolled down the street. You matched his stride as he walked, slipping your arm through his as you noticed that there were few unaccompanied women out and about. It wouldn’t be wise to draw attention to yourself.
“Sorry,” you said as you noticed Steve blushing. “I just didn’t want to get questioned about being out unchaperoned.
“We don’t live in the 1800s anymore,” Steve grinned at you. But he didn’t make any move to untangle himself from you. “That said, I’m curious about where you purchased your clothes. I’ve never seen a dame wear anything like that around here.”
You looked down at your fitted black top and dark jeans. “Maybe we need to make a stop for clothes.”
Steve stopped outside the first store that sold women’s clothes.
“Guess this is as good a place as any.”
You shrugged. “What if I have standards?”
“Then you wouldn’t be here with me.”
“Why would you say that?”
“Look at me. It’s not as though women are lining up to cut a rug.”
You didn't understand what he said, but you knew you didn't like his tone. “Don’t do that.”
“Do what?”
“Sell yourself short.”
“Are you really going to bring up my height?” Steve kipped.
You swatted his arm. “Come on,” you pulled him into the store. “Help me find something to wear.”
After a few moments of perusing the aisles, you picked up something that caught your eye.
“So Daniel, what do you think?” You held a green swing dress up in front of you and shook your hips from side to side.
“Looks real swell.”
You laughed and threw it across his arms.
“What brings you to this neck of the woods?” he asked, trying his luck at getting information from you.
“Where else could I find a dress like this?”
Steve chuckled at your evasive answer.
“Come on, I’m going to try them on.” You lead the way to the fitting rooms.
You spent the next hour parading outfits in front of Steve, trying to get his opinion. Unfortunately he didn’t give you much guidance, he said you looked beautiful in every single one. Eventually you found a winner, a scarlet below knee ruched puff sleeve A-line dress. You knew you’d found the one because his jaw quite literally dropped as you emerged from the curtained cubicle.
“You like it?”
“It’s perfect,” he whispered. He was almost afraid to make noise and wake himself from the dream. “Now that you’re all decked out, I can show you a place where you can stay.”
“Thank you.” You squeezed his arm gently, grateful for his generosity.
You felt lucky to have come across this kind stranger, knowing that you’d not survive if you were stuck on the streets of the city. The hunters after you were ruthless and you definitely needed rest if you were to make it until Zephyr One jumped to the next point in time. You needed to be ready.
You paid for the dress with the little money you’d left the Zephyr One with and the two of you left the store with your clothes folded in a bag. You had decided to keep your own boots on, luckily they didn’t look too out of place and you needed to be practical. The man beside you kept glancing in your direction, blushing profusely when you caught his eye.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be. You made a great choice.” You grinned at him.
Your expression changed slightly as you caught a glimpse of a familiar looking figure. It made your heart rate shoot up and you slipped your arm through his in panic. You gave a quick glance backwards but there was nothing there. You’d always been a rather jumpy person, it was shocking you’d survived for so long with Coulson’s team. Facing an enemy face to face was so much easier than waiting for someone to jump out at you from the shadows.
“It’s alright,” Steve said softly. “I won’t let anyone hurt you.”
You felt a pang in your heart. This poor man had no idea what he was up against, yet here he was, offering to protect you. The Chronicom hunters would squash him like a bug. Maybe letting him help you wasn’t such a good idea after all. You were about to pull away from him when he spoke again.
“So you’re really not going to tell me anything about yourself?”
There was something about his eyes, the beautiful blue made you feel like you were falling into the sky. Your heart contracted with his offer of chivalry.
“You don’t think a little mystery is exciting?” you flirted.
“I’ve had enough mystery to last me a lifetime. I prefer getting to know people.”
The earnestness in his eyes made you feel guilty. “I wish I could tell you something more.”
“Do you think something terrible would happen if you did?”
You bit your lip, thinking about the butterfly effect, the ever diverging multiverse, the implications on the future. “Maybe.”
“Who are you? Mata Hari?”
“I’m not much of a dancer,” you quipped. “Look, Daniel. Or whatever your name is. I’m not sure that this is a good idea.”
“Why?” His face fell and you hated it.
“I don’t want to put you in any danger. You’ve already done enough for me.”
“I can’t stand around and leave a beautiful dame in danger.”
“Wait? Are you just helping me because you think I’m ‘beautiful’?”
Steve looked incredibly flustered by your sudden outrage.
“No, I wanted to help you. And you just happen to be incredibly beautiful.”
“Nice save, Danny boy.”
“Are you interested in somewhere safe to stay?”
“It’s not your apartment, is it?”
“I think we’d have to be going steady before I’m ready to take you home.”
You chuckled at the phrase. “Good to know where I stand.”
“Come on,” he took your hand and led you down a side street. The boldness of his action surprised you. He had been so reserved until now, this move was unexpected and you loved it. Despite the sweatiness of his palm, you were happy to follow him.
“Where are we going?” you asked.
You didn’t hear his answer as a Chronicom rifle blast missed your face by mere millimeters and hit the side of a building.
Everything after this point happened very quickly. Steve, or Daniel pulled you behind him. His arms raised for a fight. One second he was standing in front of you, the next he was on the floor, out cold having been hit with a stun blast.
“Daniel!” you screamed, your emotions getting the better of you for a moment.
It was suddenly as though your brain had switched to fight mode, it was just you against hunters. May’s training had been grueling but your body now moved flawlessly as you dodged blasts from the rifles, deflecting the energy pulses with your powers until you were close enough to engage in hand to hand combat.  You were able to disarm the hunters and incapacitate them with their own weapons.
You stood in the middle of the street, breathing hard from exertion, rifle in each hand, as it started to rain. The drops struck the street with force, drenching your clothes within minutes
“Daniel!” you patted the unconscious man’s cheek and whispered his name in his ear. “Daniel, wake up!”
The hunters were definitely down for the count, but they traveled in packs and you weren’t sure if the two on the floor had sent out a signal before they shut down. Either way, you didn’t need to be found surrounded by two electronic bodies by the authorities.
Steve groaned, regaining consciousness.
“Hey, can you get up?”
“Yeah, I’m fine.” Steve jumped up to his feet. His clothes were already drenched and hair plastered across his face. “Get behind me.” He grabbed your wrist, trying to push you to the side, looking around for the threat. His eyes widened as he spotted the bodies sprawled on the ground.
“We have to go!” You tugged at his sleeve.
“Dottie, what happened?”
“Not now, let’s go!” you urged him to lead the way. “Come on!”
Steve started marching down the alley, away from the Chronicoms with you in tow. Your fast walk turned into a jog, then a full run until you arrived at a large warehouse-like building. Steve stopped in front of a large iron studded door and started fumbling with some keys. You glanced around checking for anyone who might be pursuing you before you and Steve slammed the heavy door closed behind you.
You and Steve both collapsed against the door, panting with exhaustion and relief. As soon as you caught your breath you lay your head on his shoulder.
“Thanks Daniel.”
He didn’t answer. But you noticed a whistling noise coming from his chest. You looked up at Steve’s ashen face and realized that he was still breathing hard. The whistling was actually wheezing.
“Do you have asthma?”
He nodded.
“Got your-” Did they have inhalers in the 1940s? “Got any meds with you?”
He gave you a shake.
You looked around, your heart picked up the pace a little again. Asthma attacks could kill, this was potentially more dangerous than the Chronicoms. You spotted a little kitchenette and armchair with blankets draped across it.
“Come on, get up.”
Steve whined, although it came out as a loud wheeze.
“I know, we’re just going to go over there.” You nodded your head towards the hardback chair and tiny table.
He took the hand you offered him and you supported him across the space. You searched your brain for all the ways to help ease an asthma attack without using inhalers and steroids. As Steve sat down, you noticed that his teeth had started chattering slightly. He must be freezing in this wet clothes, you thought.
“I think you should take off the wet clothes. There are some blankets,” you grabbed one from the sofa a few feet away. “The cold must be triggering your symptoms.”
Steve complied reluctantly, removing his coat and shirt, but kept his undershirt and pants on. You draped a blanket over his shoulders and rubbed his upper arms to try and make him feel warmer.
“Sit up straight. And take deeper breaths. Nice and slow. Like this.” You inhaled slowly and blew out slowly through slightly pursed lips, holding tightly to his shaking hands.
Steve copied you. Once his breathing was a bit more controlled, you told him you were going to make him some coffee. If you remembered correctly, caffeinate was a bronchodilator and a warm drink would really help him warm up.
It wasn’t long before the wheeze had quietened and Steve was looking less gray. His grip on the mug didn’t loosen and he was staring at the steam coming out of the cup but he looked more stable and you felt less anxious about leaving his side.
“Daniel, I’m just going to go and change back into my clothes, they’re still dry. Okay?”
He didn’t answer. He didn’t even look up. So you started walking away.
“Who were those people?"
You didn't answer.
"Did you kill them?” Your silence didn't deter him from asking another question.
“No.” That wasn’t strictly untrue. They’d never been flesh and blood to start with, not alive.
“Who are you?”
“Daniel, please.”
“My name’s not Daniel.”
“I know,” you replied sadly. “But the more I explain, the more I have to tell you and it risks so much. Please, I need you to trust me. I'm not a bad person.”
“What happened to those men?”
“I fought them.”
“If you know how to fight, why were you running away?”
“Because I was scared. I am scared. Of messing things up. I'm not supposed to be here. I've already put you in so much danger. I'm so sorry.”
“You could go to the authorities.”
“The authorities wouldn’t know what to do with these people.”
“Why are you here?”
“Ummm-”
“I mean why are you here in New York? You said your friends were coming to get you. What happens when you leave? Will those people go around hurting anyone else?”
You smiled about the fact that he cared.
“They’ll leave too.”
Steve continued to look at you, trying to analyze your intentions. His piercing blue eyes felt like they were boring into your soul. It sent a chill down your spine and you shivered.
“You should put on your dry clothes. Or you’ll catch a chill.”
You did as you were told. It was a relief to be out of the wet clothes and you instantly felt better. You went back over to where Steve was still nursing his coffee, glancing around the room as you walked.
“I’m sorry, you don’t like it?” you pointed at his mug.
“Too much gives me palpitations.”
You chuckled. “I feel that.”
“Has anyone ever told you that you say the oddest things?”
“Yeah, I’ve déjà’ed that vu.”
Steve stood up, slightly unsteady and wobbled over to the sofa and pulled another blanket over himself.
“Are you still cold?” you asked, going over to sit beside him.
“It’s fine.”
“It’s not fine.”
You pulled the blanket tighter around his slim torso, shuffling closer, trying to warm him with your own body heat.
“So what happens here?” you asked, waving your arm towards the rest of the room. You were suddenly feeling nervous about how close you were to this man you’d only met earlier that day.
“Art.”
“Art?”
“Yeah, I sometimes do sketches, illustrations for work purposes.”
“You’re an artist?” you smiled.
“It pays the bills.”
“You’ll have to show me some of your work some time! Maybe?”
“I’d like that.”
And he smiled. Damp strands of his blonde hair flopped over his eyes. You reached out and brushed them away from his forehead.
“Still cold?”
You leaned in towards him so your shoulder touched his.
“A little.”
His eyes were mesmerizing. His lips looked so soft. You felt an invisible pull towards this stranger who had dropped everything in his life just to help you. Your noses were almost touching and you tilted your head. Steve closed his eyes, you did the same. Just as you thought he would close the space that was left, you heard him gasp and you opened your eyes in time to see him turn his head and sneeze loudly.
He flinched, not wanting to see your reaction. “Sorry.”
“Bless you,” you whispered in his ear.
He turned back to face you, surprised that you hadn’t moved. You were just as close as you had been. He watched intently as your eyes flicked down to his lips, it made you blush. It wasn’t often that you had to make the first move, you didn’t have the nerve. There was always a first time for everything.
“May I kiss you?” you asked.
He nodded nervously and you smiled, giving in to the pull he had on you. It was slow, he was unsure, but you could taste the coffee on his lips. You took the lead, his lips were soft and his breath felt hot on yours. His eyes remained closed the entire time. It was short, you didn’t want him to feel pressured or overwhelmed. As you moved away, your nose brushed his gently and he opened his eyes to look at you and it was your turn to feel flustered. This time it was Steve who reached out and took your hand.
“Thank you.”
You grinned back at him bashfully, not wanting him to let go of your hand. Both of you sat in a comfortable silence until Steve’s head started sagging on your shoulder.
“Hey sleepyhead, you should get some sleep. It’s late.”
Steve jumped up, the blanket across his lap falling to the floor.
“You can take the davenport.”
You assumed he meant the sofa. “We can take it in turns. I think you should go first. I’m not in the mood to sleep yet.”
You were lying. You were tired, but he looked exhausted.
“Are you sure, Dottie?”
You smiled, he finally used your pseudonym. Steve was definitely feeling the weariness. Even though you’d known him for less than a day, you could tell he wasn’t the unchivalrous type. He would give up the sofa in a heartbeat had you asked.
“I’m sure. Thanks Daniel.”
He handed you a blanket. “I’ll take this one. You need to stay warm too.” Steve kicked off his shoes and curled up on one corner.
“Do you mind if I sit here?” You pointed at the other end.
“Of course not.”
You made yourself comfortable, wrapped in the blanket which now smelt distinctly of the man beside you. It made you feel calm and relaxed. Your mind told you sleep wasn’t wise, but your body had other ideas and you fell into a light slumber.
You woke up with a start, groggy from your sleep. Your phone buzzed again and you silently thanked Fitz for having upgraded your battery giving it a week’s lifespan. It was time to leave. You could tell it was still dark outside, and Steve was still out cold beside you.
You picked up your phone and texted the team. “Send me the location. I’m on my way.”
There wasn’t time for a long protracted goodbye. The Zephyr One jumps were getting more and more erratic, which is how you’d ended up in this situation in the first place. If you woke him, there would be more questions. If you left a note, there was only evidence of your presence.
You climbed off your seat cautiously, trying not to make any sudden movements, then pulled on your boots. He looked so peaceful but you wished you could see his eyes one last time. You shook your head, trying to push away the sentimentality. It had been a day, you’d known him for less than a day, you couldn’t be this mushy. May would be disgusted by your behavior. You ought to leave. You were going to leave.
You dropped to your knees and leant over the sleeping Steve. You stroked the hair away from face and pressed a chaste kiss on his forehead. He felt hot, hotter than you'd expected. There was a flush on his cheek. Did he have a fever?
You were about to put your hand on his forehead when he stirred. You froze, not wanting to risk waking him. The buzzing of your phone called your attention, you needed to leave now. You didn't want to leave him vulnerable and alone but ultimately you couldn't stay. You got up quietly and padded over to the door. It locked automatically when the door was shut. Good. He would be safe from anyone trying to enter.
You slipped out of the door, closing it behind you. Then you started running hoping that no one would stop you.
"Wait, I can't believe this! It was real? It was you?" Bucky asked incredulously.
"Yeah," you sighed.
He was also convinced that the universe put him on Earth to help people and that by joining them, he would get to do it. He was wrong. He’s now twenty-nine, living in LA and has been reinstated in his job after having to sue for it. He now knows what his boss meant when he said that he would regret coming back to them. A Comprehensive List of Spideyfist Interactions (pt.7)
Hello and welcome back to: reasons Spideyfist is canon. A series where I take you through each episode of The Ultimate Spiderman and show you why I believe that Peter Parker and Danny Rand are dating in canon, or at least that they are each other’s favorites- and also give you commentary on the show itself as I do
Warnings for: episode spoilers, season spoilers, action/injury description, unsolicited commentary, probable cussing, violence, caps lock
this part features episodes 14 through 20 of season 2
S2E14 The Incredible Spider-Hulk
- No notable interactions
- Fuck SHIELD and their bullshit Hulkbusters
~
S2E15 Ultimate Deadpool
- I'm not gonna lie to you, in the process of making this post, Tumblr glitched and I lost a lot of progress, this episode and the entire episode above. I'm not rewriting it, so the gist of the first 2 minutes is: I don't like that Deadpool just stole the show and the audience from Peter because Peter is "boring." I also don't like how Fury has set up the team against Peter.
- taking deep, calming breaths Shooting your ally/trainee in the back is akin to telling them that you cannot be trusted or relied on. Fuck Coulson.
- "Not impressed." Yeah, well, you shot your trainee in the back with zero warning or previous experience. Fuck you.
- Also, you can only hear Sam and Ava laughing in the laugh track, so honorable spideypowerfist mentions. Also counts to spideyfist
- You're showing your fucking favoritism you asshole. Do fucking better
- You are spraying it RIGHT IN HIS FACE
- "Somone explain. Now." Nova goes to explain "NOT Nova" Reason number whatever why I don't ship them
- If Peter replaced Deadpool in the show does that mean that Deadpool was the leader before Peter?
- Listen, I fucking love Deadpool in the movies and the comics, from what I've heard, are fucking superb. In this iteration? No. No, I hate him. I hate Deadpool and SHIELD in this show
- There is WAY too much emphasis on this alleged agent for me to believe a word Deadpool says.
- Peter is being singled out for training and it's disGUSTING
- There are no snitches among the Ultimates. Not today anyhow
- Deadpool is a liar and master of manipulation
- My poor dumb boy
- Okay, the more I rewatch, the more it becomes clear to me that Deadpool and Peter are supposed to be parallels or mirrors
- "I'll give you 1000 bucks for your brain!"
- "Sleep them with the fishes"
- "Nice of you to finally visit my school" Forshadowing~~~
- Okay I hate him but he's funny
- SEE? SEE???
- Deadpool is scary when he's actually trying
- "How about telling me the truth?"
- Deadpool's origin story is so wack
~
S2E16 Venom Bomb
~ Is this the-? looks at the episode number Oh, no. Not yet, I think.
- Saving the teammates like a boss!
- The nightmares Peter must have every time he faces the Goblin
- In the fight, Danny strikes after Peter, which counts
- Danny and Peter are standing RIGHT next to each other after a battle againnnn
- Peter WANTS to be able to take the win, but he knows his adversaries too damn well for that
- Hey, they're standing right next to each other again!
- Peter doing his best with Harry when he's Spiderman
- Ock just gets weirder and weirder looking the more time goes on
- They're gonna study the fucking symbiote but not try to find a cure for Osbourn?
- Infectious Venom disease!
- Goblin being absolutely AWFUL to Venom
- Where's the team in all this??
- One of the worst things you can do to Doc Ock's character is pretend he's evil for fun. This show doesn't do that, but the fact still stands
- And again I say, people forget that Peter is an accomplished chemist just the same as he's a wonderful hero
- Because you're Spiderman and Spiderman is a hero and you're a wonderful, selfless, brave person, Peter Parker
- Peter and Ock working together lmao
- Peter’s a goof, I love him
- At least Peter gets his damn props
~
S2E17 Guardians of the Galaxy
- Oh!! This episode indirectly has big evidence!!
- Peter using his abilities to shove garbage into the can
- PETER SEES A TALKING RACCOON AND ASSUMES HE LOST IT OMG
- Okay, so remember how in The Journey of Iron Fist, Peter follows Danny to his home country to find out what's going on and get Danny back? That's not exactly what's happening here. Peter was accidentally abducted in this one
- Peter was so fucking respectful and kind when regarding Danny’s home country and turf, but when it's Sam, he's snarky and complains the whole damn time
- Rocket is just so fucking casual about this
- See, even under attack, Peter is complaining about Sam getting him in trouble!
- Peter demands answers from Sam, he didn't do that with Danny, he was very calm and respectful when asking for answers with Danny
- Peter doesn't listen to a WORD Sam says ever, he's oblivious and not a good listener, reason number whatever why I ship what I ship
- It's literally only after he figures out Earth is a target that Peter decides to work with the Guardians
- Peter gives these "Ki-ya!" shouts that sound almost exactly like Danny’s
- This episode and The Jouney to K'un L'un are literally parallels
- Even if he doesn't LIKE Sam, Peter still considers Sam a friend, still loves Sam as a brother
- Peter didn't accept Danny going back to K'un L'un for a single second, but when Nova says he wants to stay with the Guardians, Peter accepts it without hesitation
- And then once Sam's back on Earth, Peter's right back to fucking with him like nothing ever happened
~
S2E18 The Parent Trap
- No notable interactions
-One of my favorite things that Luke does is he just fucking throws people for funzies. That's his whole thing, he THROWS people when he's fighting and needs to team up
- We're going through the team's backstories this season, which I think it's fun, and it's actually kinda funny
-Yes, Peter, 'parents' parents
-They're so fucking biased against Peter and it pisses me off
-I love the way these guys protect and look after each other, it's super cute and lovely
-See this is what happens when you start harping on your teenage heroes. They start ignoring you and don't listen when you try to offer important information
-Luke wanting a perfect reunion is so fucking relatable
-Spiderman only calls his friends by name on missions when it's important or in an emergency, the team members who know his identity don't call Peter by name unless off mission
~
S2E19 Stan By Me
-No notable interactions
~
S2E20 Game Over
-Danny talks about how fun the LMDs are and Peter immediately starts going into detail.
-I love that the team gets to go all out here
-Danny wants to retreat, Peter says "looks like we're gonna have to 'assess' with our fists" which I count because Peter's not the kind of guy to retreat even if it's deadly and he talks like he was going to agree
-Annd we're in a slow zoom (in the ready room lol) and Peter and Danny are sitting right next to each other
Seven Sentence Sunday
Thanks @sugdenlovesdingle
This is another 911/Marvel crossover I'm playing with. Currently the only ship I'm set on for sure is Phil Coulson/Clint Barton. I also don't know how to count.
~
"What happened to you being the one with it together and I'm the walking disaster?" snarked a voice from the doorway of Buck's hospital room. He looked up in surprise at the voice.
"Clint? What are you doing here? How did you even manage it with all the mess? Isn't there some evil guy to stop from destroying the world?" he tried moving to face Clint better and winced slightly.
"Yeah, well I had to check on the baby Agent that felt it would be a good idea to try fighting a Tsanumi. Something not even Thor does." Moving quickly Clint helped adjust Buck's position with minial pain. Clint was no stranger to similiar injuries. "Did the head injury make you forget the rescources I have at my fingertips?"
"You mean the resources I have at my fingertips and allow you to use on very rare occasissions?" A man in meticlous suit that both drew the eye but also made you write him off as not a threat entered the room giving Buck a smile even as Clint pouted. "Good to see you mostly in one piece Mr Buckley."
"Hey, Phil, it's good to see you too. Even if you had to bring him with you."
Clint sticks his tongue out at Buck while Phil hid a small smile.
Guarded Heart
Summary: Y/N is the daughter of a powerful mob boss who only cares about her horses and making it to the Olympics but her father expects her to marry an equally powerful boss to help strengthen his business. Bucky is looking for a wife to help his business and give him an heir but already has a long term girlfriend, Natasha.
Bucky Barnes x Reader, Bucky x Nat, Reader x Thor
Chapter 14
Warnings: Angst, swearing, death, violence
Notes: Sorry! Please don't hate me.
Bucky had a black and white tailing him, sirens blaring, megaphone demanding he pull over but he ignored all of it, only caring about getting to Y/N before....he couldn't even let himself imagine the possibilities. He tried to calm his breathing and focus on the road. He wouldn't do Y/N any good if he got himself into an accident before he could get to her.
He saw flashing lights ahead of him, police and fire dept, thankful that they were already there. Bucky pulled over and jumped out of his car, looking frantically for any sign of her.
He let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding when he saw her, sitting in the back of an ambulance, Val right next to her with an arm holding a blanket around her shoulders and the other hand holding an oxygen mask to her face, as Y/N stared blankly into space. Val's shirt had been torn and a bloody bandage was wrapped around her left bicep.
Bucky almost ran through the police tape and a young uniformed officer tried to stop him, earning a glare from Bucky.
"I'm sorry sir, you can't come in. Police business."
Bucky snarled "Do you fucking know who I am? Are Fury, Coulson or May here? You better-"
"Barnes!"
Bucky looked towards the voice and saw Captain Nick Fury, Detectives Phil Coulson and Melinda May in his wake.
"What did I tell you about terrorizing the 'boots? Leave the kid alone." Fury looked to the young officer "Don't worry kid, Barnes is alright. That's his fiance in the ambulance, let him in."
Bucky nodded at Fury in thanks and raced to Y/N's side. "Hey doll, you alright?"
When she didn't respond or react at all he looked to Val questioningly. She shook her head, not wanting to get back into the details in front of Y/N.
"She's in shock" Val told him softly "It was pretty bad. Physically she's fine but....."
Bucky nodded "Right. I'll be back" and went to talk to Fury.
Fury was talking to someone on the phone and Bucky started looking around while he waited. There were a few bloodied white sheets covering the remains of the fallen. He shook his head, they should have waited until Dreykov was handled to move her or at least had a couple of other cars around her. Or something.
Bucky heard Fury's voice going up before he ended his call and muttered "motherfucker" before he noticed Bucky was still there.
"So what happened here, Nick? Val called me so I know they had a flat and Thor had to stop." He stopped for a moment after mentioning his name and looked around for the hulking blonde. When he didn't see him he looked at Fury who grimaced and shook his head.
Bucky felt his heart drop "No wonder she isn't talking. Thor was probably closer to her than anyone. It's bad enough she has to deal with losing her father, then her arm but he was her main support, rehabilitating is gonna be much harder for her."
Bucky looked around and saw her, still unmoving, unseeing and he swore "Fucking Hell! You have Coulson and May keep an eye on Y/N and Val. I'm going back to the warehouse"
Fury raised an eyebrow "I didn't hear a damn thing about any warehouse but don't worry, we've got her." And patted Bucky on the shoulder.
When Bucky got back in his SUV he called Steve who answered on the 3rd ring "Yeah Buck? We're a little busy over here. What's the word?"
"Things are handled here, it's not great but she's ok, physically at least. Do me a favor and keep Dreykov alive for me, I need to have a talk with him."
Steve sighed "I can't make any promises but I'll do what I can." And the call disconnected.
Bucky looked back at Y/N, she still hadn't moved, seemed almost catatonic. He shook his head, fighting with himself over his next moves. He felt like he should be there for her but right now she probably wouldn't notice and he still felt a strong need to hurt Dreykov and Pierce for what they had done.
He finally decided he would be more useful here. One more person wouldn't tip the balance of the fight but maybe he could be there for her. If nothing else he could make sure she gets home safely and that her house was secure.
He climbed out of his SUV and stomped back to Fury "Nevermind what I said, I'm staying with her."
Fury shrugged, indifferent to the man's internal struggle. As long as Bucky didn't interfere with their investigation he didn't care either way.
"Looks like someone threw some nails on the road about half a mile back, causing the flat. Then while they were stopped a car drove by shooting, Thor hit them first but they hit him, repeatedly. That's the black sedan across the street. Registered to Pierce industries."
Bucky looked over and nodded, then looked to Nick to continue.
Fury nodded "At least 2 more cars drove by. Val hit one of the drivers, that's the car on its side, in the middle of the road up there. Also registered to Pierce. Seems sloppy using cars registered to his business." He pointed.
Bucky looked where he was pointing and grunted "Unless he wants everyone to know he was behind it. Where's the 3rd car?"
Fury shook his head "Val said she saw it but was hit in the arm and knocked back. Couldn't see them by the time she got up."
Bucky took a breath "Any shooters found alive? Someone we can talk to?"
"No. They're all either dead or took off. Once we get this mess cleared out I'll be going to talk to Mr Pierce about his cars involvement."
Bucky scoffed "With any luck he'll be dead by days end."
Nick gave him a dirty look "Dammit Barnes you know I can't know that shit. I don't want to hear it out in the open like this." He paused for a moment "What are you going to do with your girl? She needs to be checked out."
Bucky thought for a second "I'm taking her home. To my parents. I don't know how safe her house is without Thor and I don't know who of her father's men can be trusted. My mom and sister are there and it's like a damn fortress. Plus it's closer.
Think you could give us an escort? I need to get her there as quickly and safely as possible."
Nick nodded "Let me call some patrol-"
Bucky cut him off "No. I don't know who on the force I can trust. I need you, Coulson and May."
Nick gave him a look and started to speak but Bucky cut him off again "Please Nick? She's been through the wringer and I need people I know I can trust."
Nick rolled his eyes "Fine. Get her to your SUV and lets get this done."
"Just give me a minute" and Bucky stalked over to the ambulance where Y/N and Val hadn't moved.
Val looked up at him and shook her head "Nothing yet, she hasn't moved or spoken."
Bucky sighed "Alright well we're going to my parents place with a police escort." He looked at Y/N and spoke softly so he didn't startle her.
"Hey doll, it's Jamie. We need to go someplace safe so I'm gonna take you to my truck and we're going to my parents. Mom and Becca are already there and it's very safe."
Y/N finally reacted and looked up at him whispering "What about Thor?" Tears filling her eyes.
Bucky swore softly "I'm so sorry sweetheart but he's not coming. He-"
"He's dead isn't he? He was just trying to protect me and it's all my fault. I just wanted to go home." Tears ran down her face and her body shook.
Bucky tried to rub her back but she flinched and he backed off. "No Y/N. It's not your fault and I promise the people behind this will pay but right now I need to get you somewhere safe." he held his hand out "Please come with me so I can take care of you."
She shook her head "I can't just leave him here and I don't care if I'm safe. What does it matter if he's gone?"
Bucky was desperate "Please doll, I just want to take care of you."
She looked at him, shook her head and tried to speak but the sobs overwhelmed her. She finally relented and took his outstretched hand and meekly followed him to his SUV, letting him help her in and fasten her seatbelt. Val climbed into the back seat next to her.
Bucky looked at Fury who nodded and he started the SUV when he saw 3 black and whites turn the lights on. Fury pulled out in front, Bucky followed with May next to him and Coulson behind. He called his mother to let her know they were coming and ask her to call Dr Cho to meet them.
They drove as quickly as traffic allowed before finally pulling into the Barnes garage.
Bucky told Val to wait with Y/N while he made sure everything was clear. Once he was sure he took Y/N into the house. Helen Cho arrived right after and followed them up.
Dr Cho checked Y/N out, made sure her left shoulder was healing well and gave her a sedative to help her sleep.
Winnie Barnes had drawn a warm bath with some lavender bath salts to soothe Y/N and some comfortable clothes for her to put on after. Becca led her to the bathroom and helped her undress and into the bath. Once she was done Becca took Y/N to Bucky's room, where Winnie had already turned down the bed and had turned on the electric blanket to warm it up.
Y/N looked up at her "I know it was all my fault. I'm sorry your family was dragged into this." Then drank the tea Becca brought up and laid down on her right side.
Becca covered her up "No. It's Dreykovs fault, you've just been caught up in the crossfire.
Do you want me to stay with you?"
Y/N shook her head "I'm sure you have better things to do. I just need to be alone and get some sleep."
Becca nodded and went downstairs to find her mother and brother at the dining room table. "She's not doing well. Told me it's all her fault and apologized for getting our family involved." Becca looked at Bucky "She knows its not her fault, right?"
Bucky sighed "I'm sure she does know, she's just in shock and not thinking straight. Her trainer, Thor, was killed protecting her and she's not taking it well." He paused "They were very uh close."
Winnie nodded, understanding. "We will just have to be here for her. Have you spoken to her mother? If you haven't then someone needs to let her know. Nevermind, I'll call her"
She left the room to make the call and returned a few minutes later "Becca. Can you make sure the guest room is ready for company. Y/N's mother is on her way. James, you'll have to sleep in the den or double up with Steve."
Bucky groaned "Fine but only for her"
His phone started ringing and he looked at it before answering "Dad." And left the room to take the call.
Five minutes later he returned "Dad needs me. I'll be back when I can. Please take care of her for me." He kissed his mother on the cheek as he left the house and told Val to keep watch inside while his men Morita, Dugan and Falsworth were outside.
Bucky pulled his car out of the garage and said a little prayer that Y/N would be alright.
Rewatching The Avengers (2012) for the millionth time thoughts:
I miss Coulson SOOOOO FUCKING MUCH (but still not enough to sit down and watch Agents of SHIELD, apparently)
Dr Selvig looks like my dad and also he makes me want to watch Mamma Mia, also for the millionth time
They really made Steve say some corny ass shit in this movie (‘there’s only one god, ma’am, and he doesn’t dress like that’ 😑) but I’m not mad at it
Again, going back to Coulson, I LOVE that Pepper and Tony are both invested in him continuing the relationship with the cellist
Steve actually paying Fury the ten bucks is adorable
Loki’s hair is greased, spiked, and slimy for 100% of this film
God, this film makes me ship Clintasha big time
They just work so well together! And care! So much!!!!
I can’t say for certain that Steve and Tony did fuck during the course of the film, but they most certainly wanted to the whole time
ScienceBros my beloved tho ♥️
During the battle scene, the growing friendship and camaraderie between Nat and Steve is probably my favorite thing
But Bruce slowly puttering up to the scene on a small motor bike after is pretty great too
I JUST LOVE ALL THESE PEOPLE SM GODDAMN
A/N: This was inspired partially by a dream I had. As this is My Marvel DR this will not be in MCU chronological order. In my reality the snap/blip only lasted a year on earth but 5 in whatever dimension they were sent to. And the years are different.
Lilianne Liandre' glanced up in the vicinity that she knew Bucky Barnes would be, watching her from a rooftop, and smirked.
"Like what you see Buck?" She asked over the comms her tone teasing.
"What's not to like?" Her boyfriend quipped back in amusement.
Lilianne just lightly laughed as she walked down the city streets of New York, seemingly window shopping. Knowing she looked good in the ripped jeans with the red fabric peeking underneath that she'd changed into earlier, seemed Bucky appreciated the view as well. "Keep your mind not in the gutter Bucks...we're on a mission remember?"
"Oh I know, I can multitask." Bucky teased back.
They were actually on a mission for SHIELD, seemed like they had another bomber in their midst, this one had an alien weapon with them. Damn how were they finding these? How many did those guys drop after the snap anyway?
Lili was tasked to stay on the ground, undercover and let Coulson know if they found anything, while Bucky was scouting from the rooftop with a sniper rifle. In case anything went sideways which it usually did.
The streets were sectioned off by construction tape and signs. People wouldn't know it was SHIELD and they wouldn't get hurt either.
A low whistle sounded, seemed like Bucky had found something or someone.
"What is it?" Lili questioned over the comms.
"Back entrance of that shop, looks like we found the bomber." Bucky answered. "Want me to take care of it?"
Lili shook her head, "No. You may hit the weapon. I'll handle it." Lilianne snuck around the building, using her abilities to stick to the shadows unnoticed.
The bomber, male early 20's, looked up then as she came up behind him, the weapon he was hiding let out a high pitched screech then and Lili dropped out of the shadows holding her ears. As the guy looked at her, raising a gun.
Lili managed to shield herself with her shadows just in time as the gun went off.
Bucky saw her fighting the guy, surprised he had gotten the jump on her, he slid down the roof, using his super soldier speed to rush the guy and hit him in the face with a vibranium fist.
Helping Lili up, he looked at her in concern. "Are you ok?"
She nodded back, putting her black Marvel cap back on. "Yeah I'm alright."
"Who was that? How did he see you?" Bucky wondered with a frown.
"It wasn't him, it was that." Lili replied, pointing to the alien weapon that had fallen out of the guys jacket. "It could sense I was there."
"How?" Bucky wondered.
"I don't know." Lili engulfed the sizable alien artifact within shadow, placing it into a bag. Careful not to touch it. "That'll be a job for Fitz Simmons. I'll call in agents to detain this guy."
She starts to reach for her phone when an older male voice answers seemingly out of nowhere. "No need. We got this." Phil Coulson stands there smiling at them.
Lili smiles back, "Hey Da- I mean Agent Coulson. Their all yours." Lilianne stops herself from calling her adopted father that, needing to be professional.
Coulson puts a hand on her shoulder, "They know your my daughter Shadow no need to be so professional." He grinned. "Save that for when were at headquarters."
Lili nodded, giving a small smile. "Thanks Dad."
"We'll take things from here. Given its Lili's birthday tomorrow You two can take some leave, Bucky don't you have a birthday also?" Coulson questioned, looking at Bucky.
Bucky nodded back, "Yes Sir." A bit more serious around Coulson, given that was his new boss.
Coulson raises an eyebrow, "104 now isn't it? You look good despite it."
Bucky couldn't suppress a smirk at that. "Yep. Thank you sir, cryo sleep will do that."
Lili grinned at the banter between the two, seeing Bucky relax. "Well we should head on home, cmon old man."
Bucky gave her a look at that shaking his head.
"Have fun you two." Coulson grinned as he picked up the bag and walked off.
They reached Bucky's motorcycle as Bucky started it, getting on and Lili took the backseat, her arms around Bucky's waist as they drove home.
Well okay home was actually Bucky's one bedroom apartment. Which as he unlocked the door to let them inside, Lilianne could see wasn't much of one....as she looked around, taking off her hat and quirking an eyebrow. "I see not much has changed."
Literally nothing had. It was still simple, clean...ish and well pretty bare actually.
"Hey I'm a minimalist." Bucky shrugged as he turned a light on.
Lili gave him a look, " There's minimal and then there's...this." It didn't look like he rarely if ever lived here to be honest. "Bucky do you sleep out here?" She gestured over to the blanket and pillow over by a chair on the living room floor, next to a small tv.
Bucky took his own cap off, running a hand through his hair, "Yeah so? I find it more comfortable."
"More comfortable then a bed?" Lili asked skeptically then noticing the scrutinizing was getting on Bucky's nerves, she changed the subject. "Sorry I just..."
"It's not like you've never been here before." Bucky remarked looking over at her.
"It was when you first moved in, I thought you were still settling." Lili shrugged. "But hey it's better than staying on plane." She remarked.
Bucky scoffed, "Right. That plane might as well be a suite. But...did we really come here to talk about my decorating habits?"
"Or lack thereof." Lili teased. "No we didn't."
Bucky walks over to her, putting his arms around her waist. "Good. I was hoping you would say that."
"What exactly did you have in mind?" Lilianne smirked up at him flirtatiously.
"A few things actually..." Bucky murmured, with a grin. "Like this for one." Bucky leaned down kissing her softly.
Lili closed her eyes, enjoying the feel of Bucky's lips on her and his strong arms around her as she played with his hair. "I like that..."
"Yeah? Well I do have an actual bed you know." He implied suggestively.
"Really? Wow. Progress." She teased back, smiling.
Bucky smirked, "Ha ha. C'mere Doll, let me show you." Without another word he picked her up and carried her to the small bedroom.
Lili laughed when he did so, once inside the room, just as bare as the rest of the house save for a worn dresser, some vintage collectibles on top and a full size bed, Bucky set her down and went to sit on the bed taking off his hoodie, waiting.
Lilianne grinned knowing what he was waiting for, she slowly took off her bomber jacket, giving him a show as she shook out her long dark hair with it's purple streaks, Lili walked slowly over to Bucky.
Bucky smirked as Lilianne put her arms around his neck, "Happy Birthday Sergeant." She whispered. "Happy Birthday BabyDoll." He answered back his voice low and his eyes fixed on hers.
No words were needed then as Bucky pulled her close, kissing her again more passionately then the first. His hands running over her body, settling on her rear as he squeezed, causing a moan to escape from Lili.
Lilianne ran her own hands over Bucky's chest clad in his tight black t shirt. Bucky grinned around her lips, "Damn I love how your ass feels in these jeans."
"I bet it feel even better without them.." Lilianne said softly, still kissing him.
Bucky gave her a wide smile at that. "I'm sure it would." He agreed, as he broke the kiss, standing up he turned her around, moving her hair to one side as he kissed her neck softly, down her shoulder blades, as he moved the strap of her black tank top down.
Lilianne let out a light gasp as her eyes fluttered closed, Bucky could be gentle but was dominant at the same time and she loved it. She never felt safer than when his arms were around her or his hands on her.
Bucky knew that, he felt the same. Their first time had been cautious and gentle but still spiritual once they gave into each other and put there fears aside. And after that things were never the same, now they were intune to one another as much as two people could be.
Bucky knew all her tells, and knew when to push and when not to. Lilianne was in a habit of wanting to go fast, of getting what she wanted quick, Bucky had taught her to appreciate making love, going slow and to enjoy it, that she could trust him.
Like now. They weren't tearing each others clothes off, no Bucky had more patience than that. As he dragged one hand down her arm, moving his metal hand around her waist, holding her close but not pressing hard enough to hurt her.
"Do you want me?" Bucky asked in her ear, his voice husky. Knowing she loved the way he sounded when he got more needy.
"Yes, Bucky please." She breathed out, her own voice wanting.
Bucky gripped her hips when he felt her squirm a little. "Patience Doll." He warned. Lili stopped, knowing if she got too needy Bucky would stop, like he had before.
Bucky's gentleness and going slow was almost like four play in itself. But he could go all night this way, making her feel everything.
Bucky turned her around then, cupping her face as he kissed her deeply. The coolness of his metal hand feeling good against her skin. Lili couldn't help herself as she pushed lightly against his chest, as he let her push him onto the bed.
Bucky gave her lustful grin as took his shirt off. Lili's heart beat faster as she looked at his well defined chest, one of the benefits of being a super soldier, Lili then took off her own top as she smirked down at him.
Bucky's eyes roamed over her as his hands ran up her. Lili leaned down then, kissing him as she moved on top of him. Bucky groaned, the friction turning him on even more.
"Now who's needy?" Lili remarked, as she kissed down his chest. "Can I?" She asked.
Bucky nodded, running his hands through her hair as she went lower. Kissing until she got to the waist of his jeans, she slowly took them off.
Already noticing how hard he was underneath his briefs, she smirked as she pulled those off as well. Her eyes brightening, she loved how naturally big he was, despite what others said size did matter.
Lili took him then, running her nails up his length as she heard Bucky shiver at her touch. Lili opened her mouth more as she took him in deeper. Bucky grasping her hair tighter now. His head back, breathing heavy as she continued to lick and stroke him.
When it got too much for him, Bucky stopped her, pulling her away. "Ah Doll I don't want to cum yet. C'mere."
Lili obliged, crawling up him. Instantly Bucky moved and had her pinned under him. Bucky laughed low at Lili's sudden gasp. "My turn." He gripped her wrists with his metal hand, not wanting her to move, as he moved his other hand down her, undoing her bra, he grasped her breasts as he kissed down her neck, then reached her breasts, licking and sucking on her nipples, his tongue swirling around them slowly.
With a loud pop, he released her, then ran his hand down her stomach, kissing her stomach as he unbuttoned her jeans, dipping his hand underneath them, rubbing her over her underwear slowly teasing her as she let out a whine needing more.
Bucky stopped then, his fingers hovering over her so all she could feel was the heat of their energy between them. "Patience baby, stop squirming or I'll stop." He warned.
"Sorry I just...need you." She practically begged. Biting her lip to keep from moving.
"I know." Bucky smirked as he released her wrists, so he could take her jeans off. Along with her underwear, noticing how wet she already was. "Mmm all for me. I think I may need to test how ready you are though." With a dark glint he ran his metal hand down her body.
Lili took in a breath at the feel of the his cool metal fingers pushing into her, almost like she was fucking a toy but this was better and very much alive. She always loved the different sensation those metal fingers brought her and he knew it.
As he brought her to the edge and then stopped. "Not yet. Breathe...this is going to be awhile." Bucky knelt down then as his mouth latched onto her, Lili gasped loudly her head back at the first feel of his tongue against her.
Bucky didn't stop then as he licked and sucked her, his tongue delving deep inside as his fingers did the same, his other hand running up her clit lightly. He stopped long enough to tell her to cum. And once his steel blue eyes met her honey ones, she came hard her legs shaking and back arching as he held her down, not stopping until she calmed down.
When she finally came down, Bucky leaned over Lili, whispering in her ear, "Good Girl. But I'm not done yet." His voice husky. As without warning he slowly entered her, making her feel every inch of him as she tried to not cum again at the sheer feeling of him.
Bucky moaned, loving the way she felt just as much as she did, as he slowly stroked her with his cock, over and over again. Holding her close now, he rolled so she was on top of him as he sat up.
Lili moaned at the new sensation, he felt even deeper and harder inside her as he lifted up, she grasped him as she moved on top, kissing him deep. Bucky held her to him, slowly running his hands up and down her body,memorizing every inch of her as she ran her hands through his hair and then down his chest.
Bucky touched her face, gripping her jaw lightly, "Look at me Babydoll." His tone gentle but commanding as she stared at him. They looked into each others eyes as he touched her lips, and softly kissing and licking them as she bit his lower lip lightly.
They moved together as one, wanting to cum but not needing it. They were just enjoying the feeling of being close together again of the sensations coursing through their bodies, giving each other pleasure not searching for a climax. It would happen when it happened.
Bucky broke first as he gripped her waist, "Baby, Daddy's gonna cum. Are you ready?"
Lilianne grinned at the pet name he rarely used. "Yes cum with me Daddy." She was so ready one last push and she'd be there.
Bucky took that opportunity to go as deep as he could, practically moving her as if she was a real doll, moving her almost all the way off him only to push her back down and thrust into her as deep as he could as he came inside her with a deep moan.
Lili came at the same time, not being able to stop herself from letting out a loud cry as he fucked into her hard, gripping onto him as they came together, shaking. Black exploded behind her eyes but she managed not to pass out once the sensations died down.
Bucky held onto her his breathing heavy, his forehead touching hers. "Fuck I love you."
"I love you too." Lili murmured back.
After a bit Lili managed to roll off him then, still breathing heavy. This was more of a work out then training.
Bucky got up then, cleaning them both up as he crawled back into bed with her, covering her up with a soft red blanket. "Damn that was a great birthday present don't you think?" Bucky commented as he pulled her close to him.
"Absolutely." Lili replied sighing happily, laying on his chest. "Breakfast in bed tomorrow?" She suggested.
Bucky grinned down at her,kissing the top of her head. "Of course." He wasn't a great cook but he'd try.
"Oh I meant I'd cook, we both know your version is take out or the microwave." She teased.
Bucky chuckled, "Ha fine with me, Just means I don't have to. But for now we need sleep."
Lilianne nodded grinning. Yes they did, she agreed. Snuggling up to Bucky as his strong embrace and warmth lulled her to sleep.
