And, bc this is already in my mind, I didn't really think to elaborate on it, given how much vedic astrology exposition I would have to do. But, I am itching at the seams to talk about it, so prepare for a long ass essay under the cut, ig

DISCLAIMER: I am not trying to say that any of this is REAL, I am simply pointing out coincidences and patterns that are interesting to me. While I believe in astrology, I don't expect others to, and I'm uninterested in arguing about the causes, effects, and underlying meaning of any of this. I just find it interesting

Basic thing is that Dan has Ketu (South Node) in the first house, and that is interesting, because Ketu is quite an invisible planet. Like, what it rules is authenticity, purity, soul purpose, divine inspiration, isolation. When you think of a planet like this, it's almost impossible for it to get famous, if that makes any sense. Fame would ruin the purity of a planet like this. The ideal expression of this planet is as a saint or a monk, away from the world.

Fortunately, this planet is always expressed to the masses through its opposite, Rahu (North Node). Rahu is a planet that rules glamour, the material world, fame, the occult. Rahu and Ketu are two halves of a whole, often symbolized by an immortal beheaded serpent. Ketu is considered to be the body of the serpent (lacking senses, but has the ability to move using muscle memory), and Rahu, the head of the serpent (ability to speak, think, see, focus, but unable to act). Having Ketu in first house means that Dan's Rahu is in the seventh house, the house of the partner.

Because Ketu is associated with purity, it's also associated with loss, fire, and doom. Kind of like, it burns down whatever is in its way, and what remains is the purest form of the object (According to hindu mythology, the material world is not real, and ashes, then, show the inherent nothingness of the world. brand appropriate for Dan). This is where we get into Dan's first symbolic brand, which is "danisnotonfire". With this branding, Dan sort of erases the effect of the firey nature of Ketu, and increase his Rahu. Funnily enough, according to the Vimshottari Dasha system, his Rahu dasha (activation period for Rahu) began in April 2009. I couldn't begin to make this shit up, because Dan started his twitter account in May 2009, a month after his rahu dasha started. This dasha will end in April 2027, btw.

With Rahu being in the house of the spouse, this name is also what attracted his partner to him (Phil has pretty significant Rahu in his chart, as well, which is why he is indicated by Rahu in Dan's chart, but Dan's Rahu is stronger, just harder for him to access, since it is not HIM). This partner also brought him fame and material gain.

Because Rahu is associated with glamour, it's also associated with inauthenticity, hoarding (material resources are simply not real), anxiety and, also... fun. Ketu is all about purity, doom and gloom, and meditation, but Rahu is about stimulation. If you get too into it, and base your life on it, it becomes anxiety inducing, but if you treat it as a video game you can log out of anytime, it starts to become fun and enjoyable. Unfortunately, this is very difficult for most people to do, because Rahu is the material reality that tries to trick you into thinking it is the most important thing in the world.

Rahu and Ketu require for there to be a balance, basically, for their ideal expressions, because excess of Ketu brings depression and inertia, while excess of Rahu brings anxiety and overstimulation. They are natural cures for one another. Rahu and Ketu are also not real planets, and they are mathematical points that are meant to show the timings for... eclipses. Yes, a classic Dan Branding!!!!

The best way to deal with Rahu and Ketu is by enjoying Rahu, and then burning down the Rahu with Ketu whenever it gets too anxiety inducing. So, when Dan got tired of the inauthenticity of Rahu, he basically burned down the danisnotonfire brand, to be more authentic to himself. And, during this time as Daniel Howell (his true self, in a way), he posted less, and he came out as gay to be true to himself (Ketu authenticity).

Because he actively tried to strengthen his Ketu during this time, he also lost a lot of projects he meant to do (ketu rules loss, if you guys remember), and had a bit of a difficult time. Ketu isn't an easy planet to deal with, AT ALL. Strong Ketu means dealing with constant failures, dislike from other people, and being forcibly isolated in many ways. That said, Ketu is still a force to be reckoned with, and if something is successful even when Ketu is strong, it's considered extremely important, materially as well as spiritually, because it is divinely guided, and Dan executed some of his absolute best work during this time, as well, as is natural for ketu.

Anyway, Dan's new return to youtube is marked by... DanandPhilGames, the channel where he is with Phil, who represents his Rahu. With Phil, he can gain a lot of success, because Rahu allows you to do the fun and silly projects that Ketu will never let you do.

Rahu is inauthentic material life and also fun, ketu is authentic spirituality and also depression, Dan's Ketu is him by himself, and his Rahu is Phil. Dan's eclipse shirt brings balance to his Rahu and Ketu, his danisnotonfire brand reduced the impact of Ketu into his life, and also got his partner into his life, and the DanandPhilGames brand does a similar thing as danisnotonfire did.

Ao3 Donation

Yesterday, after logging into my Ao3 account, I of course saw they were having one of their bi-annual drives and decided to contribute. I set it up as a recurring yearly payment. Now, as a fandom vet who used what was once twitter until Elon Musk got his grimy hands on it and dubbed it 'X', I know there's a bunch of Anti-Ao3 people who disparage donating while using the damn site! I also frequent the Ao3 reddit so I've seen it discussed and I'm ready to give in my two cents. "why donate to Ao3 when you could donate to (insert cause here)?" How do you know people aren't doing both? I'm a woman, LGBTQ+, Animal lover, and have a husband with depression and heart-failure. Can you guess where I might toss a few when possible? Or what I might share even when I can't if I run into a donation link? I am also however, anti-censorship and a fandom nerd. Therefore, I believe OTW dose important work too. This year, the choice cause for those attempting to shame drive participants is Palestine, but remember when it was people affected by the Covid pandemic and essential workers? My husband caught covid, had a heart attack, and was in a coma for a while (this is how the aforementioned heart-failure). I was not allowed to see him. During this time, it was insanely hard to get out of bed and, as an essential worker, go to work. Ao3 has helped me through some incredibly tough spots and personal life tragedies including this one. This one though is why I'm tired of seeing anti-posts. You clearly don't even care one iota about the people affected by the cause you claim. If you did: You would support it without shaming over a hobby these very same people might engage in. Its also incredibly hypocritical btw to do this while using the site. They cost money to run. Have you ever spent a single dime on any kind of recreation yourself? Unless your answer is 'no', you don't have a leg to stand on even without the above when it comes to telling anyone how to spend their money. ENOUGH VIRTUE SIGNALING! THANKS!

As we've been speculating this whole time, we're going to be dealing with an ahamkara next season! Not the egg from Mara's room from Lost, btw; this is a completely new egg and it's not corrupted! And as suspected as well, we'll need the Wall of Wishes and there was a pattern for the final wish in Savathun's wings:

It's a really cool wrap-up that gave us a lot to speculate during the season and didn't do any weird plot twists for the sake of plot twists. It hinted at ahamkara and it gave us ahamkara! Wild stuff going into the next season obviously. We still don't know what it will entail exactly. Dreaming City has to be involved somehow, but since breaking the curse would mess up gameplay, I don't think we'll be doing that. But still! Can't wait.

Alright I'm not one to talk about drama more than once because I just really don't like to interact with that sorta thing, but there's been an update that's almost comical in how it was handled

Basically this guy on twitter, Jay, essentially created an account either today or in the last two days, then posted a PDF saying a bunch of stuff that boiled down to "Nuh-uh, it's not our fault you didn't ask to be paid and also we definitely didn't do those things you said, this is all YOUR fault"

And literally only showed screenshots that corroborated their story, which could EASILY fall apart once the other party shows screenshots that show the other half of it

(I would recommend reading the PDF for yourself btw because that's about all the detail I'm gonna give on it here)

Then he logged into the Quackity Studios account specifically to follow this obvious burner account and retweet the PDF (Only for someone else I assume, to just straight-up delete the retweet pretty soon after, because it's not there now)

And THEN, the person who originally brought this whole thing up made a response doing EXACTLY that thing I said before (Showing the other screenshots that the PDF didn't show because it wouldn't match their story)

AND THEN JUST CASUALLY THREW IN A "Oh and btw, I have NO clue who this Jay person is"

The absolute irony here is that this guy could've been waved off as some rando, if he hadn't specifically logged into the Quackity Studios twitter to interact with his account. But instead he did exactly that, which 100% confirms that there are people on the admin team who are aware of what's going on, and are actively trying to cover it up, even trying to downplay it to the current members of the Admin Team. They literally just added credibility to the Whistleblower's statements

There's just something about the fact that this guy is obviously pretty frantic in trying to cover up what's going on. It's almost funny to me in that it has absolutely failed and will inevitably backfire (And technically already has a bit) because it's just so obvious that this was all done incredibly hastily. Like he's scrambling to do damage control now before he can get found out. Which again, only serves to prove he has something to hide

this isn't strictly disventure, per se, but close enough for me to complain about it here. can we just...NOT have the spinoff tomjake thingy? like, don't get me wrong, I love Tom (I mean he's mentioned in almost every damn take I send here lol), and my general opinion of Jake has gone up somewhat. but I am so done with these mfs on screen at the same time. if they really wanna do a slice of life type thing, it'd be really cool to have an episode or two focused on a specific character or small sets of them.

for example, I think I remember a greeting someone bought and posted on YouTube where Tom mentions saving a cat and naming it Gabs, so like, an episode with Tom and his cat would be nice! or Rosa Maria and Sofia (plus Lake, probably), something like that. for God's sake, they could do something with Drew!

Patrochilles crawled into my brain and sleeps there. Prior to them, I can't say I had much interest in Greek myth. I played Hades, someone suggested I read tsoa, I read the Iliad, became obsessed with Ajax somewhere in the middle of that, and two years later, here we are (366k words on the archive???). I like to joke that the muses still wake up every few years and target a random person with "Okay, it's your turn to make sure his glory is eternal like we promised" and then go back to sleep. And possibly the one I got was confused and hit me with the Ajax beam, too.

I also think when Troy (2004) came out, the muses had to work overtime to fix that egregious error

I'm mostly joking. I tend to think of these Greek heroes as the OG comic book characters. Over the years, so many authors have taken a crack at them with their own biases, preferences, and interpretations. Some shit gets retconned. Some new stuff gets canonized. People debate over it. Except those debates end up on jstor instead of reddit or twitter or whatever.

Obviously, though, as one of the current people writing about these guys, I'm right and my cultural biases have no role in influencing my perfect understanding of their characters (/s).

It was interesting going from Hades game, where Patroclus is so snarky and dry, to the Iliad, where when he finally speaks, it's to literally cry with tears streaming down his face to Achilles. I was thinking to myself, well, I'm fine with Supergiant inventing this part of him and I'll keep it for myself. And then he had the best trash talk of all the Achaeans. I had actually put my book down to text a friend "the trash talk in this book absolutely sucks; humans clearly didn't have that down yet" and then the next line was Patroclus telling everyone to shut the fuck up because he was with me on that one. And then he wrecks Hector's shit verbal-style while blind and dying. Love that guy.

Anyway this is all to say many interpretations are good! Except for Troy (2004) and the one where Achilles considered Patroclus his mommy. It's cool to see how people take small details from a 3k yo book and turn it into full characterizations. Less cool to learn just how badly Ajax's original story got warped. I'm super happy these guys inspired me to write so much in the past couple years and that the fandom has honestly been one of the most interesting and engaged that I've come across.

As for the archive-lock, I tend to keep my active WIPs open to guest readers and then lock them after they've been finished for a little while. It's probably not terribly effective, but my hope is this limits some of the constant scraping being done of the archive.

I use Clip Studio more often, but from time to time I also use Paint Tool Sai 2. As for brushes, I juggle around a lot of brushes but the current ones I'm using are:

It's one of the base brushes CSP comes with. It's in realistic brushes. I usually use it for coloring or simple shading
