hey jaime, how are you??
i just come by to wish you a happy new year! (kinda late but itâs still january so it still counts đ) i hope you have a great end of 2023 :))
also with a friend we were talking and we suddenly thought abt punzel!lucas/elu and we were wondering how these two lovebirds were doing and what would they be up to now, according to you đ¤đ lowkey miss them now ngl sjdbdh (as well as the canon version of course)
can you believe this year is marking the five years of skam france s3, 5 YEARS OF ELUâŚ
BTW HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW MAXEL CONTENT RECENTLY??? well literally all january we were being fed really well (individually and tgt) đ AND WE ALSO GOT MAXEL SELFIES IN BIG 2024 I VANT STOP SMILING THINKING ABT IT (sorry iâm freaking out again sjdbdh) their friendship is just so special and warms my heart sm every time it crosses my mind đ
anyways iâll stop my rant bc otherwise i could go on for hours đ wish you a wonderful evening/day and sending you lots of hugs and strength and luck đŤśđť
Marieeeeee hiiiiiiiiii đâ¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸â¤ď¸!!! It was so nice to see a message from you! And a happy new year to you too!
I'm ok - I both can't believe it's gonna be the end of January and also can't believe it's still January đ. Work has not stopped being insane since I took over this new position but I'm thankfully still loving it. And I'm especially loving living in a place where I am no longer dealing with -40 celcius through the winter đ
. I hope your holiday season and start of the new year has been going fabulously for you!
And 5 years? 5 YEARS?! How is that even possible omg đđđ. That calls for a rewatch, I think. My babies đĽš. And the Maxel content yessss! I love you for linking posts thank you! One of my friends thankfully sends me things because I would end up missing them on social media otherwise. Honestly the joy their friendship brings me. 5 years and those boys are still tight. I love them so much. Also the fact that Rocco was looped into their little friend group and we have actual pics of Maxence with Rocco AND Axel? Truly... life has been good to us đđ.
And Punzel babies? Well, they're living their happy life together in their flat. Eliott definitely refers to Lucas as his husband even though - as Lucas insists - they're too young to get married. Eliott thinks that's nonsense because he's been waiting what amounts to their entire lives and obviously they're going to be together for life anyways. But for that same reason, he's not too fussed about it - official papers or not, they are married in his mind. They've definitely added to their little fam and have a cat in addition to their pup Pascale. The cat absolutely rules their home (as cats are known to do) and is the only one who can get Pascale to stop being mouthy (Huskies you know đ). Lucas would definitely complain the cat doesn't like him and play up that they have some sort of nemesis relationship. Only Eliott has caught Lucas curled up asleep on the couch with the kitty on his chest wrapped up in his arms more than once. Eliott would be a little jealous about the fact that he's the one who dotes on the kitty but she still seems to be an utter suck for Lucas... only, he's the exact same way so he can't blame her đ. Second to Lucas, her fave is Idriss. Because this cat has â¨tasteâ¨. I'm trying to think what they would name their kitty... probably something Rapunzel adjacent because they're saps... but I don't have a name popping to mind just yet.
And of course there are the fun dynamics of their relationship that they will probably always be figuring out. Like Lucas realizing (and relishing) in the power he has over Eliott and the way he can make Eliott's brain short circuit in any variety of ways (like saying something incredibly explicit in the middle of much more innocent activities like cooking dinner). Then Eliott will remember he no longer holds his Punzel in the 'look but don't touch' category and things work out quite nicely for both of them đ. Basically... they're living their best lives figuring out adulthood and now jobs together â¤ď¸.
Sending you all the love and hugs back!

Hi! I saw that ship poll and I know nothing about waterparks but it's always very funny to find your fandom being acknowledged in unexpected places (ie other fandoms), so feel free to tell me more about your guys, I'm curious
HELLO OMG yes okay so!! there's some insane relationship drama going on here so get ready lol
it all started back in 2009 when after some local show, awsten was handing out fliers for his own band (not waterparks yet) because he was looking for a drummer. and the famously technology-aversed otto (seriously he still doesn't use any social media at all ever) made a myspace account just to contact awsten. long story short he joined the band, but things fell apart after a terrible recording experience soon after that, and the two of them parted on such bad terms that they didn't talk for an entire year. awsten was notably very upset about this, even recalling a memory of when he saw otto at warped tour 2011 was too nervous to approach him (and still remembering the exact outfit otto was wearing that day)
then after waterparks was formed, awsten sent a copy of their first ep for otto to check out, and then after he found himself without a drummer once again, he met up with otto and long story short, otto joined the band and they fully reconciled.
now this is where the insane shit begins because awsten had this girlfriend called grace, who he started dating in 2011. the two of them broke up in 2015, and like. literally a month later she started sleeping with otto (tho notably she almost always says they only started dating january 2016, unclear if that's just to make things seem less messy or if that's when their relationship actually got serious. she very much was tweeting very graphically about her and otto's sex life in 2015 though. also somehow they're still together, but the situation's still messy enough that she's not even allowed backstage at shows). understandably, awsten was very upset by this, especially because by that point he'd started regarding otto as his best friend (referring back to the incident as his ex fucking his best friend in his book). tbh it's truly a miracle the band stayed together after that lol but they had just gotten signed so. plus awsten has never put the blame on otto or been upset with him for this, only grace. like, not even a little, it's basically like it didn't even happen when it comes to their friendship. which is very interesting because by all accounts, awsten isn't quick to forgive, and otto is an incrdibly notable exception to that. though otto being an exception is very much a pattern when it comes to things awsten does or doesn't like.
the whole time they've been friends, awsten has regularly made "jokes" about how hot he thinks otto is. both on twitter and also in real life. i actually got to fucking witness this in real life during a show because the venue was called 'meetfactory' and the previous show's venue was called 'the hole', and awsten made a joke like "i told my mom about the names of these venues and she was like 'what kind of places are you going to??' and i said don't worry, otto always brings condoms :)" and i instantly took fifty points of psychic damage. but truly he talks wayyy to much about how hot otto's abs are and just about how hot otto is in general. and also they've always been very affectionate, holding hands and sitting really close to each other and stuff like that. awsten has said multiple times that he hates it when other people touch his face but he happily lets specifically otto do that all the time. then there's the play-fighting, where awsten will climb into otto's bunk and drag him out and they'll wrestle for (i quote) "i dunno, 45 minutes". insane shit. awsten brought this up when he was asked the question "what's the most romantic thing you've done for someone" btw
there's also the song pink, which has been heavily theorized to be about otto for a multitude of reasons, not least of all that 1) otto sings backing vocals on it 2) one of the lines is it's just that it's not fun when i find out / you're playing for the other team which. y'know. gay. and also the whole song is about pining after someone from afar and 3) awsten has always been verrrry cagey about just what exactly pink is about. he absolutely refuses to say. and also they have barely ever played it live
there's a more detailed explanation of everything here, complete with citations and photos and all that lol
and actually we as awtto nation have a fun little underdog backstory ourselves! awsten/geoff used to be by far the more popular ship for most of the band's history. when i first started reading awtto fics in 2019, there were around 60 fics with awtto at most, and 200 or so gawsten ones. and a lot of them (for every ship) were intentionally bad shock-fics (there's a story there that i won't get into). then in 2020 one person started a movement to turn awtto into the more popular ship (because it's better <33), and people started joining in really quickly! we had a lot of fests and stuff and it was an awesome little community, and then only a year and a half later, in january 2022, we actually succeeded! with the person who started it all being the one to post the fic that broke the tie. and we're still in the lead to this day, despite the fact that the fandom has kind of fizzled out by now compared to what it was like back then, for various reasons. but it was some of the most fun i've ever had in a fandom ever <33
#awtto#lavender rambles#i feel like this is long and rambly enough for that tag lol#thank you for this ask anon they do in fact still live in my brain after all this time <33#asks#anonymous

limbus company is ! a mobile game. made by project moon who also did lobotomy corporation and library of runia (i have played neither but both are fascinating games) and limbus company is set. i think AFTER lobotomy corp but im not really sure tbh. you don't have to play those other games you can just play limbus but im sure there's references and stuff that'll miss but who cares abt those dsjgs (also u can play limbus on pc too its on steam. also there's apparently crossplay so u can have the same account on mobile and pc)
anyway ! its a gacha (of course) and you got these like... 8? i think? lil dudes that you collect alternate forms of called "identity"s and tbh i don't get it but yanno. at least you only got 8 people so its easier to choose who to focus on ksdjghsd. the only ones i remember the names of are Faust, Don Quixote, Sinclair, and uhh Ryoshu? i think is her name? i literally don't even remmeber the name of one of the people that is my faves. rip. its not ryoshu btw its a different guy.
ANYWAY. the game is kinda. brutal? a little disturbing in a manner of speaking? like the first event in the game is you waking up with memory loss and your head's been replaced with a clock, and you can rewind time to revive your 8 little guys but it causes the mc immense, agonizing pain that is described in Detail the first few times :) (its not that bad tbh) and also ur stupid little guys like to kill each other. its mean. my least favorite dude killed sinclair just bc he was trying to make them stop fighting and i will never forgive him (sinclair is my fave btw hes wet and pathetic) but dw they're all fine.
uhh as far as i've gotten it really isn't that bad beyond like. some disturbing descriptions/imagery (mostly just. blood. also your car eats people.) so its not tooooooo bad? but still smth to be aware of and im sure there's other stuff i just haven't hit yet.
its fun. has a neat combat system. the story is also really nice bc you get these little bite-sized bits of story, then get to do a battle, then get a lil more story, which really works for my adhd brain bc im not forced to just sit there and read..... also i'll find u the card of my other fave dude that i got yesterday. i got lucky and got the exact card i wanted lmao
^ there he is. hong lu :) in the background is yi sang (black hair) and rodion (brown)
also here r some sinclairs (i WISH i had that second card... i wonder if i can get it somehow... btw thats don quixote beside him wearing the silly lil hat)
also i probably explained everything terribly but its fun i promise
DAMNNNN omfg that sounds so fun ... i love it :D

I didn't want to derail the previous post but the ugly stepsister (her name is Doris btw) in Shrek is a very interesting character to me and it's not as black and white of a situation as the OP of that post suggested in my opinion.
now the reading of doris as a simple 'man in dress' type transphobic joke is a pretty obvious one and I can't say for certain that the creators' intentions weren't simply to mock that idea in the same way as we've seen hundreds of times. I think it's a perfectly valid reading and I can't fault any trans person (especially a non-british trans person, for reasons we'll get to) for taking her as simply an offensive insult.
however, there's a few factors in the Shrek movies that muddy the waters in my opinion. firstly, while she isn't a main character by any means, she is certainly more fleshed out and has more personality than any one-shot transphobic visual gag such as the Arcane example. secondly, as far as I remember, she is largely accepted as part of the cast of freaks and weirdos that comprise the main characters' friends and allies. I'm not going to rewatch all of Shrek just for this post but I don't recall any characters, or at least no heroic characters, reacting with any kind of disgust or shock at her appearance or questioning her gender identity in any way. I can't say for certain that my memories are accurate but I do believe that her portrayal is surprisingly positive given the stereotypical character design that would lead you to expect any number of awful cliche 'jokes' at her expense.
finally, and this is something that may only be apparent to british viewers (I don't know how widespread this tradition is elsewhere), she appears to be a clear reference to the tradition of the pantomime dame.
I'm gonna try and keep this brief: pantomime, or panto, is a british theatre tradition that takes place around christmas in which fairy tales are enacted in a very strange, colourful and comedic way with recurring gags, audience participation, and a number of unusual traditions, including the pantomime dame.
essentially more or less every pantomime production traditionally includes at least one male actor in drag, known as the dame. the dame's exact character varies between plays but she is frequently a very important part of the story and one of the main sources of comic relief.
I can't deny that the pantomime dame is occasionally a transphobic joke in and of herself, but the tradition is also closely connected to other forms of drag performance in the UK, and expressions of queerness in general.
now I'm aware that shrek is an american film but to me even as a child it basically went without saying that doris was a reference to this history, especially considering cinderella's ugly stepsister is a classic role for the pantomime dame.
as I said you wouldn't be wrong for seeing doris as simply a cruel and thoughtless joke at the expense of trans women, but for me personally her presence in the film is a lot more complicated and interesting than that and I honestly kind of like her as a character. maybe that has something to do with her having different voice actors in the US release vs in the UK, as a british voice actor (in this case jonathan Ross) would certainly be familiar with the pantomime dame as a n archetype and would likely have had it in mind when performing the role.
#shrek#arcane#drag#pantomime#im sure I've written something about this before#if not on tumblr then elsewhere#but the discourse does seem to come around every so often and i do find it very interesting

I see youâve read/seen a lot of interpretations of this story. I am only familiar with Magnificent Century, Falconerâs book and Kadin, written by Bertrice Small, whose books are very enjoyable if you donât take them seriously. It makes me wonder, how do the depictions of HĂźrrem and SĂźleymanâs story youâve read compare to each other?
Heh, I haven't seen/read all that much in its entirety. Aside from Magnificent Century, I've read Pavlo Zagrebelny's novel, Colin Falconer's book, Demet AltÄąnyeleklioglu's "HĂźrrem", have watched "HĂźrrem Sultan", the Turkish 8-episode long miniseries aired in 2003 and am familiar with the brief summaries of some early plays of HĂźrrem's story, described in "Roxelane in European Literature, History and Culture".
As works of art, I enjoy all of these for what they are. There is stuff each of them did right and each of them did wrong in adapting this story in their respective formats. I understand the corners some of them had to cut (though HĂźrrem Sultan 2003 cut way too many corners), I understand (most of) the compromises they did in order to present their own themes and voice.
Say, Colin Falconer's book truly is a satire that I could never take seriously in terms of HĂźrrem and SĂźleiman, but it did something no other interpretation did plausibly enough in my eyes, and that is: showing precisely how SĂźleiman fell in love with HĂźrrem and fell out of love with Mahidevran. We got a decent presentation of what he likes in both of them and what does HĂźrrem have more of. Now, is it also because she somehow dares to enjoy sex unlike the other girls, aside from the other obvious traits of hers like giving good political advice, playing instruments and making him laugh? Yes, of course, because it's "The Sultan's Harem" by Falconer and I expect nothing else. But the process was at least gradual enough and we had enough of his feelings presented and enough chamber scenes that contrast both of them for me not to question it at all. With the other interpretations, something was missing for me - it was all either very forced and plot-convenient (like in DA's book, where Valide loved Mahidevran and YET, wanted to introduce HĂźrrem to SS and THEN telling herself she played no part at all in SS's falling out with Mahi, we also had Mahidevran that is very extra and taking no crap at all, beating her maids with a stick every time she got angry, and THEN we have her saying that she was never once jealous, never this temperamental since HĂźrrem, which is very unbelievable in her case, AND we have SS saying that he has never felt joy since the death of prince Mahmud from the book's equivalent of GĂźlfem, which... then what were you doing with Mahi for so many years, you unbelivable hypocrite?), either very sudden and not fleshed out at all (like in the 2003 series, where we had a literal 1 year time-skip the second after HĂź entered the harem and then she went to SS's chamber and.. that was basically it, they became pretty much inseparable since then.). To be honest, Pavlo Zagrebelny hits way more marks in this, compared to all these examples, but the way the beating happened and its part of the falling even more in love process is... less than stellar. MC's problem is that the reasons he fell in love with HĂźrrem were far more implicit than explicit until.. season 4, basically, these precious scenes where they laughed together were reserved only for the first earlier episodes and then the "concubine arcs" came, which also did a lot to blur their "amazing love". The plays at least take the standard approach (love at first sight after HĂź being presented to Valide and/or HĂź winning him over), but yeah, Falconer's take takes the cake here, despite of all the negative implications.
All these interpretations aren't that big on historical accuracy, since while they follow the same framework, they are more than willing to detach from the known facts and/or chronology when the plot, themes and character motivations demand it. Pavlo Zagrebelny placed Bayezid's execution way earlier, when Hßrrem was alive, for her tragedy to become even more heartbreaking. DA had Hßrrem have an affair with a wealthy merchant in the name of Frederick (which happened.. a while before Selim's birth, of course, so there was some doubt Selim was Frederick's...) and Iskender Pasha's (their equivalent to MC Iskender Celebi) wife be infatuated with Hßrrem. Hßrrem Sultan 2003 for some reason had Mehmet be sent to Amasya instead of Manisa. Which is the most historically accurate?? Probably none. Hßrrem 2003 and Pavlo Zagrebelny's book are pretty up there, however, because Bayezid's execution was the only time I recall they did some change, but I could be wrong. (at least that was the only glaring, major change) Hßrrem Sultan 2003 was more of a documentary series than a serial drama, tragedy or the like and we could say it is more accurate in comparison to the others, but for its own 8 episodes it doesn't stand out as much. But, oh no, don't get me started on the plays, because they're more ridiculous than even Falconer. Like the one with the outrightly soapy twist where they have switched the children, so Mustafa turns out to be the son of Hßrrem (she's even called Regina there!), but Hßrrem learns it only when she had already played her part to kill him. Those are truly peak comedy! 𤣠The harem titles are a mess everywhere, though. And no version of the story, Zagrebelny's aside, gave Hßrrem's haseki title the gravitas it got historically, with Mahidevran even being a Haseki both in the 2003 series and in DA's book, so fans, this isn't Magnificent Century's invention, thank you very much.
The portrayal of the various characters mostly depends on which side the writers are on and where they want to put nuance. Pavlo Zagrebelny, with his work being rooted completely in HĂźrrem's favor, has the rest of the characters aside from SĂźleiman very antagonized to mirror the toxic Ottoman system Anastasia (yes, HĂź is Anastasia Lisovska there) has found herself in, but I think they're nuanced enough to be realistic, unlike the satirical caricatures and one-dimensional archetypes Falconer cooked up. Demet AltÄąnyeleklioglu had more than decent characterization overall, despite of some failings here and there. (like her Mahidevran being a mixed bag that is guilty-pleasure material, Ibrahim's motivations being too vague at times, regardless of his depth and their Hatice being.. Aybige 2.0, which is also 2003 Ĺah Sultan, by the way.) HĂźrrem Sultan 2003 had a problem with this, because of its more documentary nature. It only shows the historical events in depth enough to say "Well, that happened!" and nothing more. Is it because they had to compress time or rush stuff when the show didn't succeed as much as they expected it would? Is it because they found themselves lacking time to flesh out the characters and put them through arcs post-E05? It is because they didn't want to touch the issue of Mustafa's death yet, so that's why it happened so ridiculously and came out of absolutely nowhere? Nobody knows. Still, I think Magnificent Century succeeded to have almost everyone get a glimpse of spotlight, while these interpretations were more focused on one particular story, giving much less attention to everything else.
Aside from Falconer's take, I liked all the HĂźrrems in the fictional interpretations I have read /seen. As I said, DA's HĂźrrem is perhaps the one I could see as the historical figure - both nuanced and realistic. She has been taught haremly manners back in the Crimean saray AND engrained in the life of the wild animals in the forest before that since the age of 14/15, which creates a juicy combination of wit, charisma, lost innocence and character depth. Her motivations are particularly interesting - what is driving her her personal determination to be remembered for what she is and what she does, not what she used to be, which is an empowering catalyst to her will to survive. We see how she does all these little steps to get to the top, detaching from her past as a result, and that is shown throughout the whole story, unlike in Magnificent Century, and she wants to do it, unlike Pavlo Zagrebelny's character. This determination of hers to become something remarkable is moved by all the trauma she had experienced and she constantly has to fight with the belief that one could never go past where they've come from. She, like Meryem Uzerli's HĂźrrem, is both emotional and smart. Honestly, her hypocrisy and the ways in which she manipulates could get to my nerves and I can't really root for her, like MC or Zagrebelny's HĂźrrem, but she truly is a fascinating character. Zagrebelny's character is also very sympathetic, with her getting higher and highter positions, but never forgetting where she came from, never forgiving them for taking her childhood away from her. Her story is probably the most tragic one right from the start, since the more she rises in the hierarchy, the more she remembers her own background and this palace truly feels like a cage for her, taking so much of her strength to keep it all together. I feel the funny side of her character is focused the most on out of all the interpretations, because of the numerous scenes she laughs (also because she feels cold and that's the only way she knows how to diminish it and lighten up the mood in the cold palace) and because the very first thing the harem remembers her with, is her laugh that contrasts with all else. Her ambitious hatred for SĂźleiman could be very overplayed, especially near the end, but I let it slide because it works more often that it doesn't. (and the most powerful poem in the book wouldn't have existed, if it weren't for her hatred for SS!) HĂźrrem in the 2003 series is fine, but underwritten, like literally every other character there except Valide Hafsa, but she is harmless enough and her best moments are with SS and that's a rare and precious thing to have. The plays have HĂźrrem portrayed mostly in extremes (with some nuanced takes here and there), but the ways some of them establish her character can be very unique and imaginative. (like the one in which they did that through an in-depth interview with her!)
Sßleiman is... there, but that's to be expected, since these aren't his stories. The most fleshed out Sßleiman is of course, MC Sßleiman from our beloved Halit Ergenç. Whether we like him or not, he had a well-developed character arc and was very well written and deconstructed. Next to him is probably Zagrebelny's SS, but outside of his love for Hßrrem, I feel he is characterized more through descriptions of his historical campaigns and of his actions for the state than dialogue. The others weren't as memorable, but I give 2003 SS props for not acting like a total douchebag after the beating.
#magnificent century#ask#minetteskvareninova#i could go on and on for all the characters#but that would turn out way way too long#btw i don't remember the exact names of the plays I refered to#because gosh that book has summerized soo many

I love the Otaku todoroki and Bakugou hc's! Maybe part 2 where they meet the characters voice actor and they look EXACTLY like the character and the bois are like đłđłđł HAVE I BEGGED GOD ENOUGH FOR HIM TO TURN MY ANIME CRUSH REAL and maybe the voice actor asks them out on a date skskskâ lol love your writing! (you don't have to do this btw, just a suggestion! đ)
My first thought was the webtoon True Beauty đłđł I don't know if you guys know it, but itâs a great story (and free to read online!) and the author is kinda infamous for looking exactly like her MC!! Though Iidaâs VA, Kaito Ishikawa, đ đ looks exactly like his character IMO!!Â
A/N:
The headcanons in question are here, and since the character is already referred to as [Name], Iâll be referring to the voice actor as [V/A] only, but itâs still the reader đđ.
âShitty Half-and-half.âÂ
âBakugou,â Todoroki replied, turning fully to face his former classmate. Several years had passed since they both confronted each other over Todorokiâs [Name] acrylic charm, and even now, both Pro-Heroes deep into their careers, their love for the anime character never waned.Â
The series had finished up during their last year at U.A., leaving both boys a mess while Aizawa could only wish that he was able to nurse his headache with half a bottle of ibuprofen. Todoroki mourned the fact that they were able to defeat the last arcâs antagonist at the cost of [Name]âs powers leading to their ultimate retirement and Bakugou raged from the ambiguous epilogue where [Name] was seen laying their head on the protagonistâs shoulder while looking out into the sunset. Â
âDonât play dumb with me, you damned trust fund kid,â Bakugou spat, pushing himself off the spot where he leaned against the wall and striding over to the taller male. He had filled out in the past several years, nothing but toned biceps and broad shoulders. âYouâre thinking exactly what Iâm thinking.âÂ
âWhat?â Todoroki asked innocently. His time with Uraraka had paid off, but the cutesy look would only let him get so far. Bakugou was eye-to-eye with his âeternalâ rival. Todoroki had only gotten taller recently. Still slender and toned, he was nearly his fatherâs height and had already surpassed Natsuo.Â
âMight Con.â Bakugou really had grown from the way he didnât rage from Todorokiâs feigned ignorance. âYouâre going to be there arenât you?âÂ
Todoroki froze.Â
The blond smirked at his expression. âI know for a damned fact that your manager scheduled your panel at the exact same time my panel is held ââÂ
âWeâre hosting the panel together with Midoriya, Bakugou ââ Todoroki tried to say. Â
âAt the exact same time as [Name]âs fucking seiyuuâs autograph session, huh?âÂ
At Bakugouâs words, both boys were at a standstill.Â
Due to the popularity of the anime, the voice actors were going to have their schedules jam-packed the entire con with panels, interviews, and meet-and-greets, but due to scheduling conflicts, every voice actor was allowed only one autograph session at a time. Bakugou didnât care about any of those other shitty extras. He only wanted to meet [Name]âs seiyuu.Â
The voice actor was infamous for hiding their face during the animeâs run, only doing radio shows or paper interviews. They cited that since they were still a minor by the time the anime came out, they wanted to preserve their privacy, but now that they were of age, they were going to reveal their face at the con for the first time.Â
But they couldnât make it. Their entire Pro-Hero career was stabbing itself in the back.Â
He held a hand out.Â
âIf one of us canât see [Name]âs voice actor the other canât.â
It was otaku solidarity. Â
After a pause Todoroki reached out and shook it once. âFine.â The two boys dropped their hands as fast as it came.Â
Yeah.Â
Not.Â
Todoroki Shoto:Â
Tries to go incognito, but he sucks at it.Â
Heâs wearing shades indoors to hide his heterochromia and his scar, a bucket hat to hide his half-and-half hair, and heâs wearing regular, but not so inconspicuous clothes.Â
Once he gets to the front of the line, he nearly drops his gigantic load of [Name] merch. If it werenât for the fact that heâs a Pro, he wouldâve needed a wagon to carry the entire thing.Â
His face immediately flushes.Â
Youâre wearing glasses and a large sweater while smiling and waving happily at the last fan that walked away. His mind is seeing every equation. You look exactly like the High School spin-off your mangaka made after the protagonist wished that everyone was able to live normal lives. Â
He stutters out, âC-Cosplay...?â softly the moment he gets to your table.Â
This dude is blushing so hard his face is as red as his hair.Â
Were you a secret love child, perhaps?Â
You brighten up and laugh. âOh, wow â you have a lot of merch,â you laugh and he nearly swoons. âAnd oh, no! I just look like this normally.âÂ
He mentally thanks his mom for giving birth to him.Â
You compliment him on his casual Idol!Shoto cosplay and heâs so embarrassed that he nearly lets go of the left side of his Quirk.Â
âYeah! You make such a handsome Shoto!â You use your [Name] voice to say, âI love you, Shoto-kun!â and he nearly dies right there.Â
He uncharacteristically even puts his face into his hands ;; and just screams internally.Â
You hold up your pen and look at him with such wide eyes and ;;; YOUâRE SO FUCKING CUTE!!Â
None of the fanfictions have ever prepared him for this.Â
[âSo who should I put these out to?âÂ
He inhales once and quickly goes, âTodoroki, please. Written with the character for âa roaring fire.â I have admired [Name] since their character introduction arc and felt a bond from [Name]âs tragic history and my own. I hated my father for the longest time and wanted to forage my own path similar to [Name] and they gave me strength ââ]Â
You fight to keep the largest grin off your face, but then the door busts open and in walks Ground Zero. The security are all scrambling to stop him, but he barrels through them like dominoes.Â
[âHALF-AND-HALF!!âÂ
âOh, Bakugou ââÂ
âI FUCKING KNEW THAT YOU WOULD BE HERE WHEN YOU DIDNâT SHOW UP TO YOUR OWN DAMNED PANEL!!âÂ
Bakugou takes him by the collar and his shades and hat falls and everyoneâs immediately fangirl shrieking as Bakugou forcefully drags him away.Â
âWait, Bakugou â ! My dakimakura â !âÂ
âFuck that!â]Â
After his panel, heâs smugly going through all of the merch you were able to autograph with Bakugou sulking in the corner because he managed to go and Bakugou didnât and he nearly drops his figurine when he realizes what you wrote in the corner of the box.Â
âYou seem pretty cute, handsome stranger! ;) XXX-XXXX-XXXXâÂ
He discharges his Quirk and Bakugou could be heard shouting, âWHAT THE HELL, HALF-AND-HALF!â in the background.Â
Bakugou Katsuki:Â
He doesnât even bother hiding the fact that heâs there. Everyoneâs so stunned by the fact that the Ground Zero is just storming through the autograph session that the autograph line splits like the Red Sea and he goes right up to you.Â
When he sees your face he just stops in his place and he does the face above for like five whole seconds.Â
Did he die and go to heaven?Â
WAS THAT NOT T H E [SURNAME] [NAME] SITTING IN FRONT OF HIM???
AND YOU LOOK SO SOFT!! Who gave you the motherfucking right to look so cute??? You look exactly like the panel in volume twenty-one, page 105 where [Name] were first seen wearing glasses. (Yes, ofc he remembers the exact page and volume. What was he, a fake fan?)
He didnât have a thing for megane đłđłđł until [Name].
[âYou...You fucking look exactly like [Name],â he manages to stutter out.Â
You blink out of your stupor at the Ground Zero at your autograph session because your manager just elbows you at your side and you nod quickly like an idiot.Â
âY-Yeah!â You laugh nervously. âHahaha, I guess thatâs why they chose me to be the voice actor, you know because the voice matches the face â or-or is it the face matches the voice??â The two of you have matching red faces. âI-I even have a Quirk like theirâs!â You hold up your hand and activate your Quirk slightly and he goes still.]Â
H-His wifu/husbando... in the flesh...Â
All those years of reading metas and watching analysis videos and calculating the compatibility of your Quirks are coming into fuCKING FRUITION!!Â
And he just grabs your hand out of nowhere, running on pure instinct, wrapping his hand around yours in a vice grip like a claw game and the both of you freeze.Â
âS-So what would you like me to sign??â you say quickly because heâs holding up the line, but everyone else is watching his go down like a soap opera.Â
He asks you to sign the manga. The first volume, the volume where youâre introduced, and the last volume.Â
[âThey fucking did [Name] dirty in the series finale,â he says while you sign the manga for him. âThey donât belong with the pissy protagonist.âÂ
âYeah?â you ask, looking up at him. You gesture for him to lean closer and he does while you whisper in his ear. âBetween you and me I donât ship them either.â You lean back in your chair. âI donât think the mangaka developed their relationship enough for me to root for them. Personally, I think that that they should just settle down with someone whoâs going to make them happy and protect them â âÂ
âI can do that.âÂ
âWhat,â you blurt out.Â
âWhat,â he replies.]Â
Heâs in such a daze that when Deku and Shoto barge into the autograph signing and drag him away he doesnât even fight back.Â
HE WANTED SENPAI TO NOTICE HIM BUT NOT LIKE THIS!!Â
Even through his panel that he nearly missed btw heâs so confused. Equations are spinning around his head.Â
When he finally has free time and looks at the manga you signed, it read, âGround Zero, youâre my favorite Hero! Glad you liked the anime! Wanna talk about it some more? XXX-XXXX-XXXXâÂ

Mark Forster's role in the Ace Attorney franchise
Okay, first off:
I'm not a fan of Mark Forster's music, please don't take this post the wrong way
There might be some aa trilogy spoilers
Also, I admit this title is pretty bold for what I'm going to say on this topic, but I watch The Voice of Germany with my sister every week and one of the coaches is Mark Forster who I only know like five songs of in total, but his song "Au Revoir" (which is actually a terrible song btw. It's so catchy, I've had it stuck in my head since I woke up this morning and it ruined my day.) kind of reminded me of the whole "Prosecutor Miles Edgeworth chooses death." thing, because the only thing I knew about this song was the refrain:
which would be roughly translated to:
"There is nothing that's holding me back, au revoir / Forget who I was / Forget my name / It will never be the way it was before / I'm off / Au revoir"
But as I looked further into the lyrics I found out there is a "rap part" which tells you about the places the lyrical I will go to when they're away and it contains a passage that adds a beautiful twist to my theory/headcanon (I'm not sure what to call this yet).
"I'm sitting on the Mayan throne in the jungle / [...] / The phoenix is taking off now"
You see where I'm going with this? I know, it's not Phoenix who's leaving and I know the lyrics refer to the Maya Civilization from Mesoamerica, but I thought it was a funny coincidence, that not only does the word "Phoenix" appear in the lyrics of this song, but so does "Maya".
So when I first saw this part of "Au Revoir", I started imagining how Miles Edgeworth would listen to this song and like dramatically sing along to it and start crying or something, but this only posed another question:
How could this scenario happen? How and why would he even come in contact with this song?
My first guess was, Miles probably went to Germany after he left his note, because he grew up there (I think), when he had been adopted by Manfred von Karma as a child, and he heard the song somewhere in the radio because in Germany they blast Mark Forster's music in almost every public space, so there is no escape from it ever. I tried to find out, during which timespan Miles left America, just to make sure if there was a chance that he actually could have heard it on the radio.
In the Ace Attorney wiki this timespan isn't clearly mentioned, but since the last case (Rise from the Ashes) from the first game is set in February 2017 and Edgeworth returns to America in March 2018 I'm guessing, this is exactly the time window in which he's in Germany* (minus some days/weeks of course, because I don't think he'd just leave on the exact same day he had his last trial in America). *to make this easier for me I'm just assuming he spends the entirety of his travels in Germany
But this brings me to my problem, the German Charts of 2017/2018.
As you can see, the only songs by Mark Forster that were in the charts while Miles would be in Germany are the ones above. This means that it is highly unlikely that he knew of "Au Revoir" from the radio, because why would they play this old song if they could also play Mark Forster's more recent songs that are popular right now?
But when exactly was "Au Revoir" popular enough to be in the German Charts?
During my research I looked up these years, too, and it came down to 2014 (the year "Au Revoir" was released) and even a year later in 2015. So there is no way he could have known of this song if his most recent stay in Germany was in 2017, right? (I mean, unless the German people he met then, had literally no taste and forced him to listen to it.)
But I have a pretty simple and logical explanation on how he could have still known of this song, even though he probably wouldn't have heard it in Germany in 2017.
I tried really hard, but I couldn't for my life find real data on Mark Forster's demographic, so just believe me if I tell you that his demographic is mostly preteen and teenage girls. Also, it's worth mentioning that Mark Forster's music is pretty much only known in German speaking countries like Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Now, let's take a closer look at the years, in which Au Revoir was most popular: 2014 and 2015
Who could Miles Edgeworth possibly know, who in 2014/2015 is 1. German, 2. a teenager and 3. a girl? The answer is quite obvious:
His younger sister Franziska von Karma.
Considering that she was either 14 or 15 when "Au Revoir" was released, she fits Mark Forster's demographic perfectly and although I'm not 100% sure if she was in Germany then, I still believe, she must have had at least some connection to Germany in some way, maybe a German friend who she still was in contact with or maybe she had access to German tv, maybe German YouTube channels or social media. And don't get me wrong, I love Franziska von Karma and I wouldn't wish anything bad on her, but at the same time I strongly believe that she'd be the kind of girl who'd have gone through a Mark Forster phase as a teen.
Now remember that I, myself, have a sister. I know what siblings do to annoy each other and I just know from the bottom of my heart that if Franziska really was a fan of Mark Forster's music, she would blast it on any opportunity she'd get. Or she would at least talk about him and his songs with her brother. Believe me. If Franziska really listened to Mark Forster, Miles would have known of him, too. There is literally no other way. (For reference, I know every 1D member's name, birthday and relationship status, although I literally do not care about any of them at all, only because my sister is obsessed with them and talks about them 24/7. Meanwhile the only MCR member I know, is Gerard Way, even though I listen to their music on the daily.)
So here is my conclusion.
Miles Edgeworth definitely listened to "Au Revoir" by Mark Forster on the plane from Japanifornia to Germany and he also definitely cried, after he made sure nobody could see him (especially during the part "Der PhĂśnix macht jetz 'n Abflug"/"The phoenix is taking off now"). Also, he probably listened to the song multiple times during his stay in Germany and you literally can't prove me wrong on this. I mean you could try, but I invested way too much of my time in this to actually care about another person's opinion on my shitty headcanon.
Also, the moment Franziska met Phoenix and Maya, her memories vaulted her right back to her Mark Forster phase and her hatred against Phoenix wasn't solely based on the fact that he was accountable for the conviction of her father Manfred von Karma, her hatred was also ignited by the fact that she probably had "Au Revoir" stuck in her head because of these two for the rest of the day and I just know that this must have completely ruined it for her.
Also, unrelated to anything I've said prior:
Klavier Gavin would definitely collaborate with Mark Forster on at least one song and however severe Franziska's Mark Forster phase might have been, I am convinced Klavier would have outdone her by far. I haven't played AJAA yet, but as much as I've gathered from the fandom, he's like a weeaboo but with Germany, I think? I'm absolutely sure, he wouldn't ever miss a chance like this.
Finally, here is the song this whole post is about:

"El opened the âdoorâ to Willâs mind and unleashed the repressed memories of his father."
I think you might be right about this, though I haven't worked out the exact connection to my own version of the theory yet.
"That manifested into the upside down- and all the monsters that inhabit it."
I think I might disagree here - I do think it plays a part, but I think being in the Upside Down is generally a metaphor for being in the closet. (By the way, have you seen the script for the S1E2 scene where El hides in the closet? They describe it as "DARK". (In caps.))
And I think the monsters that inhabit it aren't all "monsters," as Dart illustrates, and as we'll see soon. But to some of the characters, they are. It's like Owens referring to the Upside Down leaking into our world as "weeds." What is a "weed" and what is beautiful is in the eye of the beholder. Having said that, I just came back to this section after reading the rest, and if what you're talking about does become canon, this obviously becomes way more complex.
"In one of the stories there was a boy named Duncan who could âopen portals to other dimensions and periods of timeâ."
This sounds like what I think the show is doing!
"Will created everything the demorgorgan, the mindflayer, demodogs, etc- and his âstoryâ is very susceptible to other peoplesâ suggestions ."
Not sure I agree here - I see these as more symbolic than happening BECAUSE of the game.
On the other hand, I wouldn't die on this hill. It's totally plausible, I just don't see it as conclusively shown compared to foreshadowing/the insane craftsmanship the show's writers are exhibiting. Not sure how to distinguish between those two possibilities just yet.
Btw, "the Demogorgon is attracted to blood," what is that on about?
...
Really interesting zombie and bite observations. And the Thing. I need to unpack these...
...
"And Dustin says â No, No, fireballs you summon an undead army.â"
Like the one in Season 3?? Holy shit, @strangerthings4theories
...
Re: the lightning, how would you tie in the "sexual electricity" that Steve refers to in S2E6?
Because Dustin outright confuses it with weather phenomena, I'm pretty sure it's tied to the UD.
...
Re: the scarecrow. The thing that jumps out to me is this is something that looks scary but isn't an actual threat. Again, maybe my own internal biases, but feels more compatible with the closet and coming out?? Not sure...
...
"We've seen this with soldiers." That is a curious line, not sure what to make of that either... And they refer to the Hawkins lab workers with flamethrowers as "soldiers" too, not sure what this represents.
...
Old memories at the back of Will's head: could be memories about reality? About "now?" (Not the 1980s?)
...
Definitely agree there's a parallel between Steve and Barb and the hanging on... And Billy! I didn't make that connection, holy crap. Nice catch. Seems really clear in retrospect, not sure how I didn't.
...
Yeeeeahhh you're starting to convince me about the Lonnie abuse aspect at least. Definitely those trunk parallels also make sense. And the sticky stuff on trees.
...
Re: Will and secrets: Will lies. A lot. Throughout the show. Including about whether he's okay. He may be used to that?
...
Not sure about the shed scene, I don't remember any blankets, etc. I've actually ironically watches S1 the least for hints so far... (Ironically because I like that season the most)
...
AHHH "they basically become him" <- Max expresses that explicitly to Lucas in S2, she doesn't want to become Billy (like her father)
...
Ahhh there's too much to comment on. I think a lot of what you're saying is dead on (though you're saying a LOT so it's hard to comment on everything :p)
...
Yup you mention Will lying too.
...
Ooh, nice catch with from Heroes: "the shame was on the other side!"
...
Oh God, this was so long. I'm going to try to do at least one of these a day, @kaypeace21, but will stop here for now. I definitely think your theory has legs, especially the abuse part. I think ours can possibly co-exist as well. Will take me a bit to process though, so probably even more reason to spread it over time.
Will created the mindflayer & Upsidedown theory
I wanted to explore this theory again after the recent release of âWill byers: secret filesâ (which is Willâs cannon journal). Essentially, to keep a very long story short.El opened the âdoorâ to Willâs mind and unleashed the repressed memories of his father. That manifested into the upside down- Â and all the monsters that inhabit it. So lets begin.
Will has always been hinted to have powers.
In the 1st episode, Will wins Dustinâs xmen comic in a bet- and Dustin later asks the gang âDo you think Eleven was born with powers like the xmen?â While in the last ep of s1 (when Will returns) Dustin says to him âsheâs like a wizard.â COUGH âWill the wiseâ , Willâs alter-ego who happens to be wizard. Mike even corrects Dustin and says sheâs not a wizard. So the fact that Dustinâs Gf references Wizard stories relating to Will is kind of brilliant! Her room references 2 stories Wizard of Oz and A wizard of Earthsea.
In âthe Wizard of Ozâ- the land of Oz (the upsidedown) was a figment of Dorothyâs (Willâs) imagination.Â
-âA wizard of Eathseaâ- Is about a male wizard Ged (Will) who casts a powerful spell, but the spell goes awry and instead he releases a shadow creature! The new Archmage, Gensher, describes the shadow as an ancient evil that wishes to possess Ged. But the âshadowâ turns out to be a representation of the darkest aspects of his personality.
-âNever ending storyâ( the song susie sang , from the movie of the same title)- In the story the land of Fantasia represents humanityâs imagination and is thus without boundaries. However âthe Nothingâ (the upside down) which has taken over Fantasia is a manifestation of the loss of hopes and dreams. The monster even bites Atreyu (Elâs) leg. An Empress later tells Bastian (Will) that as he follows Atreyuâs (Elâs) story, âothersâ (El/atreyu and the rest of the st cast) are following Bastianâs (Willâs), making them all part of the neverending story. And that they were all wrong - atreyu isnât the chosen one, but sebastian (the human with the power of imagination, a bowl cut, single parent household, and who in the novel temporarily went evil after losing his memories)- aka Will.
-âSuspicious Mindsâ (ST prequel novel)- a psychic character named Alice, says âMonstersâŚof course my brain has them.âAs long as they stayed in there, everything would be all right. âWouldnât it?â
-âMontauk Projectâ- The original title for Stranger things was âMontaukâ- in reference to the Montauk Project. It was about experiments conducted on psychic children, where the scientists would âbreakâ them psychologically to strengthen their powers and to program them. In one of the stories there was a boy named Duncan who could âopen portals to other dimensions and periods of timeâ . However, one day âDuncan let loose a monster from his subconscious.â
Will created everything the demorgorgan, the mindflayer, demodogs, etc- and his âstoryâ is very susceptible to other peoplesâ suggestions . In the 1st episode Mike said demogorgan was attracted to blood- so when Will created it in real life, that was what it was attracted to. He also always asks his friends what he should do when facing the d&d monsters (the demorgorgan & thessalhydra) - and both times they suggested âfire balling itâ (which is all the upside-down creaturesâ weakness). In S1 Jonathan/Nancy/Steve light the demogorgan on fire. In S2 they burn the mindflayer out of Will, and burn the vines. S3 they throw fireworks (fireballs) at the monster the mindflayer created. And in the 1st ep Will is captured by the demogorgan (in the game) so he was captured in real life.
In s2 , the gang read (in Willâs d&d manual) that mindflayers (the representation of his abusive dad/the thesalhydra shown at the end of s1) could be killed by zombies. Will was dubbed zombie boy in s2, and in s3 watches âday of the deadâ (a movie about zombies) and then writes a story about juju zombies. Will says in his d&d story âit bites your arm, flesh tears- aaaah!â But instead it bites Elâs leg as she screams âah!â as Mike rips it off her leg. Than the victims of the mindflayer turn into zombies and become âthe thingâ. Because when Willâs writing his d&d story heâs sitting right next to Mikeâs âthe thing â poster. And when talking to Nancy & Jonathan he describes them as âthose thingsâ. In willâs journal it is also said âthe thingâ is one of his fav movies.
In s3, Lucas and Mike even debate which version of the film is better- so obviously the whole gang (including Will) has seen it. And in s2, he lies to his mom and says the mindflayer sketch was âfor a story heâs writingâ. But unbeknownst to him, thatâs what is actually happening. We even see in s2, the demorgogans become âdemo-dogsâ after his dog died between seasons 1-2. And in Willâs cannon journal he says he understands why Dustin is attached to it - since it reminds him of Chester (his dead dog) that he misses. In s1 Hopper even mentions the book Cujo about a violent dog, after that dog dies the owner even get a new dog named âWillieâ.
However, s3 truly reveals how powerful he is. Because itâs not just monsters he creates . But he can alter reality itself (without a monster having to do it). When Mike hijacks Willâs d&d story saying âtheyâll torch the chambers, sacrificing themselves killing the juju â. Will gets angry and yells âFine, you win.â And then Joyce and Hopper do just that- when they pull the lever, and Hopper âdiesâ sacrificing himself, and the Russians literally are eviscerated.
And In s2 Nancy describes the mindflayer (but sheâs actually describing Will).
âSo this thing is like a brain thatâs controlling everything.â
Hopper then says âSo how do we kill this thing shoot it with fireballs?â
And Dustin says â No, No, fireballs you summon an undead army.â
But Mike actually nails it on the head when he says, âIf the brain dies the body dies ⌠closing the gate will kill him(referring to Will).â
Because itâs not the mindflayersâ brain - itâs Willâs brain!
Will has a lot of powers and one is lightning/fire powers. And he accidentally created the mindflayer (since it represents the repressed memories of his abusive father and also the d&d creatures/stories) . So the reason the MF has lightning powers is because Will does.
In s2 we see the scientists investigating electronics being burned in the upside down. Similar to Joyceâs phones and the radio at school which was burnt in s1.Will caused the radio at the school to catch fire (not El). The U.S gov goes to the school-to verify it wasnât a natural cause and then they go straight to Willâs house. Brenner even goes into the Byersâ shed and says âspectacularâ- similar to how he referred to El killing those men as âincredibleâ. And we know the mindflayer is also associated with lightning/storms (but thatâs only because itâs one of Willâs other abilities). When Hopper sees Joyceâs phone he even says âstorm bq-ed this pretty good.â And in s2 a scientist said the same phrase while in the upside down. Showing a correlation between Will and the mindflayer.
In the comic we see electricity come out of Willâs hands. And he drew his wizard character with lightning (BEFORE) he went to the upside down. Â And in the comic he also gets the lights to flick (from another dimension) by closing his eyes and concentrating. Like Joyce said in the show Will did âblink once for yes twice for noâ.
Then in Willâs cannon journal âWill byers: secret filesâ. We see Will draw himself with lightning. Will doesnât consciously realize he created the monsters/upside down- but he is subconsciously aware he can manipulate lights and has electric abilities.
He draws his d&d character on a cloud with lightning and says how he can relate to El âhaving power like this⌠it can separate you. Make you feel alone. I think I know how she feels.â
Will in his journal even draws the mind flayer with red lightning, and later  uses red paper to sketch clouds/lightning and pastes a picture of himself on to it. Because deep in his subconscious (along with the memories of his father- he realizes he created the mf). And Joyce even describes the tunnels he draws as âlike lightning.â
Will (like El) has a lot of powers: Â Lightning/fire powers, seeing into the future/scrying/ intuition, mind control, creating things from his imagination/altering reality, shadow-walking/opening portals, techno-pathy, and remote viewing.
Will says heâs a wizard ( writing on a music tape in s3 âwill the wise-wizard mixâ and having his password for castle byers be ârhadaghastâ- a lotr wizard). The way they describe d&d Wizards matches Will/mf perfectly âWizards are adepts and magicians who combine according to the type of their spells. Relying on the subtle weaves of magic that permeate the universe, wizards are able to create spells of explosive fire, sparking lightning, subtle deception, and gross mind control. Their magic summons monsters from other planes of existence, predicts the future, and turns defeated enemies into zombies. Their most powerful spells can transform one substance into another, summon meteors from the sky, and open portals to other worldsâ
We also see Will has been associated with bears (along with 3 other animal symbols associated with other psychics- Terry, El, and Kali).Bears symbolically represent âwisdomâ like âWill the wiseâ. Wicca even means âwisdomâ. and in the show they are associated with the demorgorgan/upside down in s1 and 2 . Max and Nancy both compared demorgorgans to bears- and Nancy and Jonathan used a bear-trap to capture the demorgorgan in s1.
So when El tries to grab Willâs teddy bear (it was shown to be his in s1) with her powers. And Mike says âtheyâll come backâ. They might actually âcome backâ- but now be within Will. Since in d&d mindflayers have telekinesis (which we havenât seen) and the mf may have taken them .
