Episode 5: WELCOME!
Beyond the Star, produced by HYBE Media Studio
BTS continues to break records with Butter and Permission to Dance.
Whereas Dynamite was intended to be a feel good song for the fans during trying times, Butter was a little more intentional. BTS did not think they would release another single after Dynamite and the BE album but the pandemic was wearing on so out of many songs that they were sent to consider, they chose Butter. Namjoon rewrote most of the rap and the rest, as we keep saying, is history.
Butter broke Dynamite's Youtube premiere record of peak concurrent viewers with 3.9 million as well as other viewer number records.
Butter debuted at #1 on the BBHot100 and charted at #1 for 10 non-consecutive weeks. "Smooth like butter" became the catch-phrase of the summer of 2021.
And FINALLY, BTS heads to Los Angeles at the end of November 2021 for their first performances with a live audience. The world is still trying to emerge from all the covid restrictions but this is their chance. The U.S. has opened the doors and they go for it.
They will be one of the first artists to perform at the brand new SoFi stadium.
They are going to give it their all because things are still uncertain. Performing concerts with live audiences, being able to perform physically after such a long break and the fear or dread of NOT being able to perform again with an audience was the biggest thing weighing on them. Yoongi seemed optimistic and Namjoon said he hoped so but was afraid of having his feelings hurt again.
They realize their bodies are aging and that before the pandemic, as we know, they were driving their bodies into the ground physically with their grueling schedules.
It was 2 years between performances with a live audience – Love Yourself/Speak Yourself in Seoul, October 2019 to PTD LA, November 27, 2021.
Watching them prepare, as a group, for a major concert is awesome. These behind the scenes are very precious because they now know what it feels like to go through the motions of a live performance WITHOUT an audience.
The quality of their preparation and rehearsals increased. They had time to talk about the performance and production. They changed some things that they previously did during concerts. They said their energy levels were even higher than ever.
(PTD concert remix of Fire needs to be released this year. Just sayin.)
After they finally perform in front Army, they have mixed feelings. Relief, excitement, trepidation that this might be the last time. It was still a time when they didn't know if they'd get to perform again after PTD LA. One thing we learn is that they realized if they didn't get to perform once back in Seoul, that would be it for three years because of enlistment. Enlistment was the wall they faced every single day.
But as we know, the Seoul shows did go on in March 2022 and the Las Vegas shows in April and we also know how the rest of 2022 went.
We see them enjoying some free time in Los Angeles while in-between concerts, something they never got to do before. I think they made the free time a requirement when doing concerts. Their bodies needed to rest.
We see them win AOTY at the AMAs.
It is more serendipity because Namjoon mentioned a little bit before in this episode that he'd thought about quitting until he realized they belonged on that stage and knew that's what had to happen. Jin says the previous 2 years were a time for them to reorganize themselves and they were able to release Dynamite, Butter, Permission to Dance and reach even more overseas fans and make their concerts even more exciting.
Jungkook says they were not expecting to win AOTY at the AMAs. Winning Artist of the Year at the AMAs enabled them to view it as yet another door opening to their future.
Holding sold out concerts in huge stadiums, performing at the top of their game, winning huge awards at western award shows, these things legitimized them being asked to represent their country at the UN and other global and international diplomatic conferences.
I know... they were asked to do this BEFORE they won the Artist of the Year at the AMAs, and BEFORE the PTD shows, and it is because of what they'd accomplished before those things, but it further drives the point home that BTS will continue in the future to be a big player in the music industry worldwide and they already know this.
Jungkook says they aren't sure what the future holds yet but ignoring what's happened is not an option.
Tae says they want to remain the artists who impart a positive influence.
They have finally realized what their purpose is and they are realizing the influence they wield.

Now that chapter 2 is mostly over for all the members but Jin (whose chapter 2 is finally starting!), I wanted to write down my thoughts on how I think each member's reputation and image changed, what I learned about them, what my perception of them is now, etc.
For J-Hope, I think this was a great opportunity for him to "free" himself from the hope persona - which is very important and true to him but also constricting - and to promote himself more as a musical artist than a dancer - despite being the main dancer, even in his BTS solos Hobi usually chooses to limit his dancing. I think Hobi showed a cooler, smoother, stylish, more mature side of himself that increased his popularity and brand and resonated with a lot of people. He also proved that he's more than capable of going solo, even if I personally have mixed feelings about his voice.
I think Suga's chapter 2 was relatively "forgettable". He already had the image he wanted, released the music he wanted, produced what he wanted, so there was nothing to prove or show. Suga dropped an album that I'm pretty sure he didn't think was anything special and then went on tour. He also had fun with Suchwita. I think most of what he did was for Army and BTS, with the exception of the tour which was also for him. I don't think his solo ventures really felt like him going solo, but more like a side job. He did well, but I'm not sure his popularity, reputation, or image changed substantially - I mean, no more than expected.
RM had a pretty wild chapter 2. Through Indigo he explored a more artistic and uncensored side we all knew of, but it was in the build-up to RPWP than he started to express his opinions more freely. His amazing and diverse collabs also helped show a cooler and trendier side of him. RPWP was the game changer though. I think RM finally "escaped" his BTS leader image and mainstreamed this sexy, quirky, artsy, smart yet unserious image which he already had but the GP didn't know. Music wise, he's the one who did the most, showed the most, and had the most incredible material - even if his music isn't mostly to my taste. He's the most natural soloist along with JK imo.
V chose a path similar to Suga's. He did a lot of variety, which we already knew he liked, hanged a lot with the Wooga Squad, who we already knew, released a few songs in a style we knew he liked, did lots of photoshoots and work in fashion, which we also already knew he enjoyed... I don't think V took chapter 2 very "seriously" in the sense that he didn't strategically try to brand himself differently or find his own voice. He might've even released Layover a bit more for us than himself. He already had a strong brand and didn't change it. I think his popularity decreased a bit comparatively to Jikook because he was very lowkey.
Jungkook... well, he exploded in popularity. He had his BWL moment in Dreamers and L&R, his Dynamite in Seven, and his Butter in SNTY - kinda. His songs are GP friendly and in English, so they had a lot of impact, and his CK campaigns were genius marketing because they helped build this image of a sexy, attractive, gender nonconforming guy who can be both gender neutral and conventionally masculine. CK is also accessible to a lot of people so he got his face (and body) plastered all over the world. The collabs helped some too. Jungkook really committed even if at first he wasn't sure about releasing an album. I think he grew the most as a performer. He has continuously showed growth over the years, but imo he grew the most during the pandemic and chapter 2. His singing and dancing became more refined and unique, his stage presence and stamina improved. He was on fire with SNTY. Jungkook's vocals, dancing (eg. the sultry, relaxed hand movements he does now), stage presence, visuals, attitude, etc., all reached another level, an iconic level. Jungkook really changed his image, beginning in 2022 when his lives become so unfiltered - he sang his heart out, shared his life, didn't censor himself as much. I think Jungkook changed a lot - dropped the veil a bit -, and his music was a natural progression of him letting more of himself show. At first I didn't get it, but now I think it all fit JK really well - even if I don't/didn't like all of it. He's so effortlessly confident and comfortable on stage now, though. He might not have grown as a songwriter, but he grew so much as a performer, which is his art.
Lastly, Jimin... he surprised the most tbh, but in a negative-ish way. I had huge expectations for him and felt disappointed with his solo chapter. His image changed a lot, but in his case I loved the "old" Jimin better... I wanted something like Filter and Lie, I wanted him to show amazing dances and visuals. But he really went on a different route. He focused on singing and music the most, investing a lot in writing his own stuff, which is great but a bit unexpected. He focused a lot on inner reflection and less on his idol self, which up until then I thought was what he wanted us to see the most. And by becoming less "idol-like", he changed a lot. His choreos are more relaxed and less attractive now imo, and he engages his dance crew a lot whereas before he mostly carried his dances alone. He also showed us a much shier and reserved side of himself. His vocals changed too, or at least how he sounds in songs... I know Jimin had a lot of success, but I was surprised by how "unremarkable" I found him as a soloist. I thought he would set the world on fire, but he didn't take many risks on stage - his songs were risky, but not his performances or styling - or stand out that much. During Face he even looked a bit uncomfortable. He shines in BTS, but I don't believe Jimin truly shined on his own - not like he could've. I find his image less attractive and marketable now than pre-2022 Jimin - and that's okay but I lost a lot of interest in him as a performer. I used to love his fancams, but now I don't really care. He's still the cutest and loveliest, but, selfishly, this is not the artist Jimin I wanted.
Anyway, I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this!

Ok, I swear, this one's for the people who DON'T follow K-pop, and only know BTS as some Korean boyband that uses a lot of autotune. Just to highlight some things I'm currently enjoying the hell out of from their careers. Lemme start with some context.
So in Korea, Idol is a job above and beyond just performing onstage. You are meant to be a product. An object for adoration, specifically trained and cultivated to create the sort of parasocial relationship that sells out shows and merchandise. It is fucking rigorous. It usually involves substantial economic hardship unless and until you're one of the handful of groups that makes it big. It's also blatantly predatory, and idols are chosen when they're literally kids, at most 18 usually.
Your contract with the label frequently specifies that you're not allowed to swear, smoke, date, or generally do anything not squeaky clean anywhere you might be seen, which, since they've got cameras shoved up your ass and bolted to your bed, is everywhere. Merely touching a person of the opposite sex can set off a whole scandal and get you (or the poor unfortunate you breathed near) a huge pile of hate. They're also perfectly aware that they're "just" idols, just boybands or girl bands, to a lot of people, and not considered serious musicians, even in their own country.
Idols also have a pretty short shelf-life. Korean beauty standards are, as far as I can tell, even more youth-obsessed than in the US. The oldest female artists are like, 34. There's like, one woman over 30 for every twenty under 20. Men's careers often founder on their mandated military service, which is roughly two years (depending on branch). They've got to serve that by the time they're 30.
BTS got extensions, because they're a statistically significant percent of the entire South Korean GDP. But now the elder members have got to do their service, no way around it. Kim Seokjin (Jin) went in a couple months ago, Jung Hoseok (J-Hope) a few days ago. So the group is on hiatus, there's no helping it.
That was the background. What happens now is the fun part.
The Korean government played politics, bouncing back and forth on "should idols big enough get exemptions" for years, specifically namedropping and using BTS as a political toy. BTS themselves didn't comment on any of it, and played their cards very close to their chest and said nothing about their military service. Then they did a huge concert in Busan, Korea, where they resurrected an old rap cipher which involves chanting "Fuck you I don't care, you can't control my shit", performed it with such fire that it looked like they were legit about to start a riot, and then the next week announced that they were going on hiatus and Jin was entering the military.
Since then, let's see: nearly every member has at least posted a shirtless photo, and the three youngest members have done entire photoshoots (and in one case a music video) shirtless. Jimin released a single titled "Set Me Free"--not terribly subtle--and a photoshoot he made a point of saying he'd designed from the ground up, which is SOAKED in queer symbology. I have to emphasize that these choices are all MUCH more significant than they would be in the US. Min Yoongi put an entire album full of rage and violent imagery and painful intimacy and swearing, and smoked and shot people and performed self-harm in his music videos. J Hope released an album full of dark driving rhythms utterly unlike his previous work, and broke sales records as a solo star at Lollapalooza, even while still singing and rapping primarily in Korean.
Some of the members are quieter, clearly a bit unmoored without the thing that has shaped and dictated their entire adult lives, but they're also shrugging off the idol image with deep relief. Namjoon is philosophizing and being extremely frank about mental struggles and crying on camera. Jungkook is having regular almost uncomfortably intimate lives, where he just sings along with the music or folds his laundry or even just smiles sleepily at the camera for a while. Who the hell knows what Taehyung does. Exactly as he pleases, probably, but definitely while wearing thousands of dollars of fashion and looking like the prince of the dark sidhe.
I was looking forward to this. Not to the military service, of course. As a non-Korean, I'm well aware that it's none of my damn business, but of course I don't like it. But I was looking forward to these guys slipping the leash and having lives and careers beyond the chains of idolhood. And it's been pretty awesome so far.

I'm here again BPP! This time I'd like to ask for BTS dream collaborations I loved your answer of Cirque du Soleil for Jimin! It was original and went outside the box and yet I can't think of a better match for him.
What about for other members? When BTS returns in 2025, who do you dream they work with? Whether music or dance.
***
Where to start…
First off, have you noticed that Jimin likes choral voices?
It's one of the most interesting signatures of his musicality, in my opinion. I wonder if other people have noticed how often he chooses to infuse his personal creations with choir music, relative to other k-pop idols. Friends was Jimin's first 'official solo' creation (yes I know it's a duet but he's the primary producer), and it was the only track besides ON on MOTS7 to have a full choir. Set Me Free Pt 2 famously starts with a haunting choral voice and it's centered throughout the song.
Perhaps two times isn't enough to establish that he has a preference, but when I heard Closer Than This, and saw that Jimin yet again included a live choir for a song that very clearly doesn't need it, it confirmed things for me.
Anyway, I like that Jimin likes choral voices. For that reason, I’d love for him to make a track like Touch - Epilogue (choral version) by Daft Punk and collaborate with them for it as well. Leaning a bit heavy on the French influence here, but I’d also love to hear Jimin with Angèle.
Actually, now that I've written that I can't get the idea out of my head. Imagine Jimin on a song like Veridis Quo and Bruxelles je t'aime.

Sorry, I'm getting carried away. You actually asked about the other members not Jimin. I'll rattle off a few artists I like who I think will be good matches for the members, excluding Jimin.
In fanchant order:
Seokjin - Meaningful Stone
Yoongi - DPR Ian
Hoseok - Hyukoh
Namjoon - (this one's a bit iffy but still, Arcade Fire)
Taehyung - Chappell Roan
Jungkook - Justice

who is your fav group?
despite being a skz fanfic blog, my ults are bts and seventeen LOL
who was your first bias?
jungkook and he has been my ult bias ever since ..... like oh my god that is my malewife babygirl apple of my eye schnookums pookie boo boo bear
who is your current bias?
any real one knows they bias the entire group, however..... from groups i keep up with the most, they are: jungkook, wonwoo, dino, jihyo, annnnd felix annnnnnd lee know
why are they your bias?
generally speaking, anyone i bias is 10000% bc of their personality and who they are. i don't think i have a type per se, but i just love each of them for who they are :3 iiii have been with a lot of these groups since debut, so i feel very lucky to witness these people grow as professionals/artists, but also evolve as people :D
who is your bias wrecker?
every bts and seventeen member is my bias wrecker ........ but since i am an skz blog, idk sometimes is mr bang chan but then i rmr how cringe he can be and wake up. JHJNKDSHFKS usually hyunjin though. very beautiful man, hard to resist i may add. also wooyoung from ateez. he is very annoying (in an endearing way!)
who are members that aren’t your bias wrecker that you are currently obsessing over?
........... KWON SOONYOUNG.... I WANT U SOOOO BAD........ literal sweetie pie i fall in love with him quarterly
when did you discover the group?
uh... most groups ive been with since debut and have listened to them since debut? i think? i think the only real exceptions are like skz and ateez.. i liked them since debut music/performance wise, but i didnt truly get into them til way later (tldr: my abusive ex bf got mad at me for liking kpop and ....yea..................... anyway!)
have you been to one of their concerts?
i have only been to a topp dogg concert in 2015, if you even know who they are you're a real one. HOWEVER!!!!!!!!!!! i am seeing ateez this summer and i am so excited!!! <3
what are your fav songs by them?
from bts: coffee, tomorrow, boyz w fun, JUST ONE DAY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, miss right, truth untold, and idk i like pretty uch all their music lol
from svt: KIDULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KIDULT KIDULT KIDULT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also, a-teen and ready to love are fire.. again i love all their music thats why theyre an ult lol

♡ : which member(s) are you currently obsessing over that aren't your bias/bias wrecker?

Nothing | MYG
Pairing: Yoongi x Reader
Genre: smut, crack, DadYoongi!AU, BadCop!AU
Rating: M (18+)
Warnings: weapons - guns, shootout, someone gets shot, mention of blood, swearing, switching POVs, allusions to murder, Jimin's got a filthy mouth but probably not in the way you'd hope, tattooed Jimin, Jungkook in a police uniform, a lil' pining if you squint, Yoongi is not a good guy here and neither is Jimin (ymmv)
Word Count: 1.5k
Disclaimers: NSFW, obviously I don’t own BTS - they just inspire me
Summary: Everything is falling apart. Will you be left with nothing?
A/N: The calvary has arrived! For both Yoongi and OC. Uhhhh also there are multiple shots fired, and no one here is a Stormtrooper so targets do get hit. 😬
Thanks to @hesperantha for alerting me yesterday to this incredible artwork by artist VermillionOrchid (not sure if they'd like to be tagged in fanfic, so I'm just linking to their gorgeous work!). Max, I was so inspired that I wrote a whole new chapter, so thank you! 💜
Unbeta’d as usual. I’d love to know what you think - my inbox is always open! 💕
Part 3 💵 Bad Cop Masterlist 💵 Part 5
The Bureau taught you many valuable lessons during your time at the academy. But there was one simple instruction that stood out above the rest: keep calm. An agitated agent is a dead agent. No matter what, always keep calm.
Try telling that now to your heart.
With a little exertion, you manage to free your hands from Yoongi’s rope. It takes considerably more effort to turn away from where he’s sprawled on the cold cement. Long lashes flutter against pale cheeks as he slumbers, knocked into unconsciousness by your hard head. His flawless skin is marred by splatters of dried blood, like stained porcelain. But you know he’s not as delicate as his beauty would have you believe, so you force yourself to get up, dashing back into his house. You hurriedly dress and grab the box from the safe, stuffing it into the tote bag you sling in your cover as a teacher. On your way back to the garage, you spot Yoongi’s holster, and swiftly pluck a pair of handcuffs from it.
As you’re crossing the kitchen, there’s a rap on the back door.
You peek out the window over the sink. A shiny black and white police cruiser is parked in the driveway.
Yoongi drives an unmarked car.
Shit.
Slipping your handgun out of your bag, you hold it behind your back as you peer through the peephole, thankful that Yoongi’s paranoid enough to have installed one in his back door. A worried pair of doe eyes greet you. Jungkook is standing on the other side of the door in his uniform, hand resting on his gun where it sits on his hip.
“Oh thank fuck,” you sigh as you usher him in. “I thought you were off tonight?”
“I swapped shifts with Taehyung. He had some hot date or something,” your partner replies, walking in with his gun drawn and sweeping the room, making sure you’re safe. Any other night, you’d mock him for being overprotective, but the way your heart still rattles in your chest keeps your lips sealed. “You okay?”
You just nod, not wanting to talk about what happened. Not wanting to remember. “Come on, he’s in here.”
Thankfully, Yoongi hasn’t moved from where you left him. Quickly, the two of you roll him onto his stomach and snap the cuffs onto his wrists, binding his hands behind his back. He groans as you turn him, but otherwise doesn’t stir.
“So now what?” Jungkook asks, hands on his knees as he kneels across from you.
“Now we bring him in. Did you get the lab results back yet?”
Jungkook licks at the corner of his mouth. A bad sign. You’ve been his partner long enough to know all his tells, as much as he’d petulantly insist that he has none. “Yeah, so… all that work to convince Taehyung that I ate the dumplings, instead of smuggling them out of the crime scene, and it turns out that Yoongi only laced the eaten one with the poison because none of the others had any traces. Not a single drop to be found.”
“Goddamn it.” All that effort, for nothing. You’d been hoping for a smoking gun in the form of a poisonous dumpling, but of course it couldn’t be that simple. Still, it had been better for your lab to run the tests, rather than rely on the lab in Yoongi’s precinct. God only knows how many people there are in his pocket. Anyone there could fake the test results for the right price. And Yoongi’s got money to burn.
Your partner hums in agreement, running his hand through his raven hair. His baby face made it so easy for him to infiltrate the police department, effortlessly selling the lie of a young cadet fresh out of training. But the scar running through his right eyebrow tells a different story. It heralds him as a warrior who has fought many battles, faced death countless times, and won. The scar reminds him who he is when he’s in uniform, staring at his handsome face in the rearview mirror of his police car.
But Jungkook knows that if he’s a warrior, he’s Achilles. He can only pray that no one ever figures out his heel.
As though you can read his thoughts, you catch his eye and smile, but it’s weak, a half-hearted attempt at reassurance that misses the mark, and it only makes his chest ache.
Jungkook gazes at the kingpin lying on his stomach on the garage floor. He’s seen firsthand how intimidating the man can be. He doesn’t seem so threatening now. “Even without the dumplings, don’t we have enough to put him away?”
“I hope so. I mean, I know Namjoon’s been working on obtaining the financial records I requested, which hasn’t been easy since Yoongi apparently discovered how to use shell companies in the last year since his empire expanded.” You glance at the still sleeping man, missing the way Jungkook watches your face. If you know all his tells, he surely knows yours, and right now the way you chew your bottom lip makes his stomach twist. “And I’m sure we–”
You both straighten up as you hear it. A door closing in the house. The back door?
Jungkook’s hand is already on his hip. “Da-som?”
You shake your head. Yoongi’s daughter isn’t home.
Jungkook’s gun is in his hand. Yours is as well as you follow him back into the house, one careful step at a time. There’s no one in the kitchen.
You motion to your partner, pointing to yourself, then at the ceiling. He nods, understanding your plan to split up and check the floors of the house separately.
“What the fuck?”
The two of you spin, following the sound of the exclamation to the blond man standing in the doorway to the living room. He wears a white button-down with the sleeves rolled up, snake tattoos winding down his forearms to his hands which are gripping a giant duffel bag. There’s a loaded holster tucked under both his arms.
“Whoa, whoa, don’t shoot!” the man yelps, dropping the bag as he raises his hands above his head.
“Who the fuck are you?” Jungkook shouts back, but you don’t need him to answer.
“Drop your weapons, Park!” you order him. Goddamn it, you’d completely forgotten that Yoongi had called for a cleanup earlier.
Jimin merely smirks, arms still in the air. “Fuck, I knew that call was for you! I told Yoongi he was making a mistake, dating you. He should’ve gotten rid of you after the first fuck.” His dark eyes skim your figure so slowly, so blatantly that your skin crawls. “Guess the pussy was just too good.”
“Shut your fucking mouth and drop your weapons!” Jungkook growls, taking a step towards the blond. Despite the anger that radiates from your partner, Jimin doesn’t flinch.
“Relax! I’m just going to reach… for… my… guns,” Jimin speaks in a low, soothing tone, dragging out his sentence as he gingerly lowers his hands. You and Jungkook follow his movements closely with the barrels of your guns.
In the blink of an eye, Jimin draws his weapons and starts firing.
You dive behind the kitchen island as Jungkook lands beside you. “Shit!”
“Fuck!” he concurs, head slamming back against the wooden cabinets as bullets continue to whizz by above you. Jimin cackles wildly, shooting holes in Yoongi’s tastefully decorated kitchen. Jungkook leans around the corner, firing off a few rounds.
“This guy’s a fucking maniac!” your partner yells over the barrage of bullets coming from the blond.
You shimmy around the side far enough to aim a few shots at Jimin, who promptly hurdles over Yoongi’s couch, seeking cover. Silence. He’s reloading.
Because the two of you are deep undercover, there’s no one else nearby for you to call for backup. Even if you sound the alarm now, it’ll take too long for the nearest team to reach you. So it’s up to the two of you to end this.
A frustrated wail sounds from the garage. Yoongi’s awake. Your seditious heart stirs again at the anguish strangling his voice. “Jimin! Get me the fuck out of here!”
The blond leaps to his feet and bolts for the garage door, sending another deluge of bullets your way. You and your partner huddle against the island until the shooting stops. A quick glance at the door finds it ajar.
“We gotta go,” Jungkook is already on his feet, tugging you to yours. Any second now, Jimin will have Yoongi out of those handcuffs, and then he’ll find you, and then he’ll - he’ll -
“Hey!” Jungkook is gripping your face. “Come on, we have to go! Now!”
The two of you scramble out into the driveway. Footsteps pound behind you. Jungkook throws his arm around you, shielding you as best he can as you reach the car.
A shot rings out. Jungkook’s eyes go wide as he falls to his knees.
You scream.

GADDAMN JUST LEAVE ME ALONE SUSAN
Whether I'm neuro divergent or neurotic is really none of your business. But feel free and diagnose me.
Do I have an irrational fear that someday the Fandom will be overran by one member's solo stans and hooligans- YES.
But there's more to this than fear I assure you. I'm not one to be driven by fear. if I did I wouldn't be blogging about B. T. S for God's sakes!
And yes. I'm aware not all OT7 follow the members equally. There are Tae stans who follow all but Jimin. Jimin stans who follow just Jimin and Jungkook and some stans who don't follow any of them at all because they are on their personal accounts.
I took that into consideration too so power down.
And please I am not favoring Jikook because I ship them. I literally did the math there. If you assume that every member has a few bot accounts that reduces the gap between Jimin and Jungkook to almost zero!
While the gap remains significant compared to others.
The less gap between members, the more a sign that they have mutual followers. Did you fail in math?
The gap between JM and Namjoon is significant but not quite if indexed as a percentage of the total follower gap ratio between the members.
And yes. There's strength in numbers and I'd be a fool not to acknowledge how much leverage, social proof and power comes with a higher fanbase or following even on IG.
And yes I recognize IG is not the main or only proof of following for the Artists which is why I specifically said I was referencing IG or exclusively mentioned their accounts on IG.
Having such high numbers come with perks.
Tae stans were able to single handedly stall Hybe from trademarking borahae because Tae was the inventor of that.
That's power right there!
Imagine what else they can do if they put their minds to it!
PJMs couldn't even get Hybe to apologize to Jimin for not telling him about the whole Marvel Eternals Friends gig. Let me not mention the flight thing too. Or the voice training. Or the constant anxiety out of fear he could get fired from his job at anytime
And that was not from lack of trying.
So forgive me if I feel the need to 'compete' for those numbers- how else will I get Hybe to NOT TREAT JIMIN LIKE SHIT???
I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO BULLY HYBE SOMEDAY TOO YOU KNOW?🥺
TAE STANS ARE SO BADDASS😭😭😭😭😭
They bullied us all and got JM STANS to hate eachother. I know a lot of PJMs and Jikook stans that's fled the Fandom from bullying while tuktukkers stick together and regenerate like roaches as they eventually go solo cos no one hates Jungkook more than a scorned ex Tuktukker🥲
Jokers hate each other more than tuktukkers and are always pandering to them- well this is the results. Hope yall are happy now pick mes😊
Pick me. Choose me. Love me.
This is also not to say JM is entirely at the mercy of the company either. Or that he or any of the members are tanking. There's more nuance to it.
And no. This is not a comparison of who has a bigger social dick, this is a comparison of who has a bigger nuclear weapon for the WAR THAT'S COMING.
BTS are powerful as a group. Let me not remind you Hybe butt shook once when they thought BTS was finna sue them!
"After reading the reports, we proceeded to confirm with the BTS members and their parents. It was revealed that the parents visited a law firm located in Kangbuk two months ago to ask about some issues regarding the exclusive contract (video content business related information). Their visit did not proceed any further, and the law firm also did not formally give them legal advice."
Not only can BTS sue Hybe. Hybe cam sue BTS TOO!
And hybe is equally growing larger and more powerful and pushing resources into other artists who can equally rise to fame and power and compete. So don't make this an Army on Army crime thing.
I only made those comparisons because I noticed the Fandom is growing alot when I was on YT and so I went to see their accounts on IG to see if same was reflected. It reflects for Tae and not necessarily the others. Allow every member is growing gradually too.
BTS official account has 68M followers accumulated from years ago. If it's that deep you can simply compare each members following to this number and index it as percentages to give you a clearer picture.
They've crossed so many milestones that took others a decade to accomplish and they are doing all this in under a year. We need to be sucking their dicks not bash them.
Just saying, it's nice to have ammunition in your purse when you go out.
And frankly it's my page and I can do whatever I want
Someone said JM has the most engagement.
I don't know how engagement is measured when we can only like their posts. And most of these trackers compare Like, comment ratios. I've seen others try to use this to invalidate those results. But JM is brand reputation king for a reason and I don't know how people keep underestimating him for this.
If you could see the amount of shares and saves on his posts you'd marvel. High engagement for him could mean he gets the most shared posts, most saved posts, most shared to stories, shared to apps other than stories or IG and ofcourse- the most likes to follower ratio.
If I have 50 followers and all of them tend to like my posts at any given time that's a 100% engagement ratio.
If 45 people out of my 50 followers like my posts that's a 90% engagement ratio. If 35 people like my posts there will be a drop in my engagement ratio as well.
Thus, the more followers a person has the lower their engagement ratios tend to be. 47% engagement for JM will look somewhere around 30% engagement for someone with followers higher than his follower count- even though the same number of people could be engaging with them equally.
This is not a pissing contest.
They are all doing great.
But yea, I'm looking at the 68m 0T7 and where they all went. I expect each member to have this for base followers at least and not the gaps I'm seeing 😣

New Taennie Photo Discussion
All right, so I kind of ran out of things to say on this topic this morning, but I’ve gotten several more asks about it since then. What I’ve decided to do is essentially organize and facilitate the conversation in a way that doesn’t really require me to share my thoughts or let the whole Taennie topic take up a lot more space on this blog than it already has.
So, below the cut, I’m going to share the asks I’ve received on this topic since earlier today. As long as everyone keeps it civil and whatnot, feel free to join the conversation in the replies if you like, or you can send your own asks and I’ll do my best to add things to this post in a way that is easy to follow. Hopefully this is a solution that will work for everyone. If I have anything to say, I’ll add my own notes, but for the most part, my plan is just to share other people’s thoughts without really adding much, if anything, of my own.
Anon 1:
The first Taennie photo dropped when Hybe was under fire for a bullying controversy in a new gg. And now this second photo drops right after Blackpink has their first comeback in years and when some of the fandom has been agitated about new death threats. feels like media play to me, distract everyone with something shiny and get publicity for it
Anon 2:
Taennie pic real or not, let us not forget that he "accidentally" followed her on ig back in dec. That alone is very sus already.
Anon 3:
I really don't know why this is a debate if the pic is real? Of course it is real but both are merged. Easiest way to see, the whole cut of Jenny's body is edited and merged with Tae's picture. Look at the top hair part in Tae's and stylist noons's case, you could see Tufts of fine hair in the mirror. On the other side, Jennie's hair is cut too clean, but too out the illusion and hide editing they tried to draw black fine lines. Zoom it and you'll see. Infact her upper- right side hair is cut flat but to cover up they added black. This somehow shows the editor is a right handed person as it is easy to edit the left side easier than the right side coz of restricted hand movements. To me it looks like where the editor placed Jennie there was something else and that's why we can see the extra ling-thin shadow (maybe a potted plant). Funny thing is they tried to edit the shadow to look like it comes as hair strands but as her hair is not longer we can surely say it's not her hair just poorly done editing.
In fact if you look at the whole picture, you can see there is strange line/glow surrounding tae and stylist noona. That's the brush we use to make the foreground compatible with the background. Iphone pics are crisp and don't have these strange glows.
This whole thing make sense if either it's Tae's picture and she got edited in or both got edited in. To me Tae's picture is more original but as I said, editor edited around tae as well to clean up and blend with the ground.
I am not a professional but have been editing pictures for my projects from last 6 years. To my eye, my observation makes sense.
Anon 4:
Isn't it funny the supposedly real pic got leaked when blackpink has a show and damn TEA accounts spreading info of Tae going to NEWYORK from last one week, enyphen member going into scandal. Someone is hell bent on proving tae is straight and is dating Jennie. It's funny watching this in solo era.
Btw if anyone can shed light on if any BTS artist has been linked with other Celebrity (entertainment business) and HYBE refuting rumours?
That’s it for now! If I get more, I’ll add them to the post. If you are one of these anons and you come back, feel free to let me know your number -- and if you want to respond to one anon specifically, you can let me know the number you’re talking to, and I’ll do my best to figure out a way to organize this post so that the “conversation” flows.
Updates Added:
Anon 5:
Im sorry but u cannot convince me that taehyung isnt gay, whether or not hes with jungkook, taehyung is not shying away from showing who he really is. That man cant even pretend to act straight at all, wasnt he the one who said “first thing i notice in a gurl is her brand of clothing” …. I mean, okay taehyung say less i guess… also wanting kids ≠ straight
I definitely don’t disagree, anon.
Anon 6:
Well, I gotta say, this whole photo thing really makes a me sad for Tae. Here’s a guy who makes friends so easily, who people gravitate to, and who probably has just as many female friends (famous and non-famous) as male friends, but god forbid he ever be seen with any female without people assuming he’s dating her. I guess in a way it’s the same with men he hangs out with but of course heteronormativity plays a role. Regardless anyone who leaks pics without consent is an absolute cretin.
I agree with this too!

Ankles bound, arms spread and unable to move, his voice grew raspier as he kept hollering after help. He had no clue where he was nor how he’d even gotten there. Pitch black. He couldn’t see anything and the only thing he heard was the sound of his own decreasing voice and the shackles that kept him in place. Although he wasn’t able to use his sight, the unbearable heat made the situation worsen. Sweat dripping down his temples as well as his back, Jungkook felt uncomfortable. He had no idea what time it was, let alone how long he'd been held captive.
“Namjoon?” He kept yelling after his bandmates, they were the few memories he could recall of before awakening. “Hyung!”
Defeated, he hung his head and attempted to catch his breath whilst slightly tugging at the heavy chains. He noticed a light begin to glow from below him, a square shaped box lighting up. Gazing down, he bewilderingly frowned at a pink stuffed animal approaching the screen, gasping lightly when he recognized the bunny as his creation for ARMY’s.
“Jeon Jungkook, I’d like to play a little.” The distorted voice of someone using a voice altering filter said. “You claim you love your devoted fans. For years, you have been beloved by many, but how much do you care for those who have devoted their lives for you?” A loud buzzer went off and he hastily glanced around when the place he was being held lit up. “Take a look inside.”
Jungkook blinked repeatedly to adjust to the rapid change from dark to light, and in front of him was a glass window. A flickering light turned on from the other side where he could make out two women; they stood bound and gagged. Disturbed by the vision of them standing on a plank with what appeared to be a noose loosely tied around each of their necks. Both sets of eyes lit up when they adjusted to the light in the room and recognized him. They began to scream at him for help, their pleading voices muffled through the glass, but filled with utter dread.
“You may know these women; they certainly know you, Jeon Jungkook. To your right is your most problematic sasaeng known by her fansite name headliner_jk and on your left,” his gaze moved to the other, who appeared to have wet herself in fear, “meet Carrot NUNA. Both of these women have gone above and beyond to capture your every little move and it is safe to say that they are known as horrible people who deprive artists like yourself of a moment of privacy. Jeon Jungkook, you have a choice to make here.”
“You sick fuck! What is this? Let me go!” he shouted at the screen below him while attempting to rip himself free of his confinements.
“If you love ARMY's, you love all of them, even the bad ones. There is a handle on each side of your hand, and you can only hold on to one, choose one you want to save. If you decide to do nothing, those chains keeping you steady will begin to move apart, eventually ripping your arms from your torso. The choice is yours, Jungkook, save a sasaeng or don’t. You have three minutes.”
The screen turned off and he immediately cursed after the creepy voice that was using his BT21 creation, Cooky, as a puppet for this diabolical game. The same buzzer went off and the timer began to tick seconds away off the clock. Simultaneously, the plank the women were standing on began to move, depriving them from having something solid to stand on, and eventually hanging them when they should lose that last bit of footing.
Whimpering, they called after him to the best of their abilities, and as much as discontentment and disgust oozed out of him, he hastily grabbed each handle on either side of his muscular thighs preventing their planks from retreating. Grunting, he cried out at the sting of his arms being pulled slowly.
Images then appeared on two screens on either side of the glass where the women appeared to Jungkook. To the right was the woman known as headliner_jk, and images of him slid through the screen on her side, showcasing the footage from when she had recently stalked him. He glanced up at her, teary eyes gazing back at him as he recognized the intimate pictures she had taken of him when he was not aware.
The chains pulled at him, and he screamed in agony as the excruciating pain overwhelmed him. The veins in his arms popped, as he tried to fight the pull. His gaze caught the other screen and images Carrot NUNA took kept appearing, equally as damaging, equally an invasion of privacy.
The timer blinked and the chains kept pulling at his arms. A minute and a half remaining and he couldn’t decide which of the two sasaengs he should help. Were it completely up to him, he would loosen his grip on both handles and watch as they struggled with their feet dangling until they eventually died. But he was, unfortunately, not programmed with such a vindictive personality. BTS loved ARMY’s, even the bad ones, as much as they didn’t want to. But the rotten ones, well, they helped him and his bandmates recognize the good ones; luckily for them, the good outweighed the bad.
The timer kept ticking away, precious seconds disappearing as he grew more and more indecisive. Choose one to save and live, or do nothing and die. It was not an easy decision, tears ran down his cheeks at having to play this role of God. He never wanted to be responsible for someone else’s pain, had spent years being responsible for their happiness, but he was given no choice. Do nothing and lose his life, lose the ability to make others smile... or make a tough decision and live with it for the rest of his life.
Both women cried out after him as their feet barely scraped the remaining wood beneath their feet. His strength was giving out and the deafening pain of his arms made it impossible for him to think straight.
Choose one. Which one?
Both images appearing on the screens were equally damning. They had managed to find and capture private moments of him. His gaze caught a glimpse as a frame slid into view that headliner_jk captured of him: Jungkook, golden maknae of BTS sat in his computer chair, masturbating to webcam girls.
A sense of shame and embarrassment overcame him. The images that were being displayed were all private and he wondered how they had even gained access. It was less of the act he was doing than the violation of his privacy that was upsetting. He was a young man in his prime; this was nothing out of the norm for other men his age.
His eyes then fell on Carrot NUNA’s screen as a picture of him getting a blowjob from a black, female escort appeared. He remembered this vividly, several months ago he had decided to give in to his fantasy and experience the pleasure he watched on his computer screen.
Why she hadn’t used this against him was baffling; she had plenty of time to have sold those images to the highest bidder. His eyes fell immediately onto hers and she pleaded with him not to choose her.
As the pain became overbearing, his hands grew weaker and the strength to hold onto both handles became too much. The mixture of the women’s sobbing cries and the deafening tick of the timer reaching its end made him scream as he made the decision and pulled back one of his hands.
All sound ceased and the only thing that filled the room was the cries of one of the women and his grunts as he held tightly onto Carrot NUNA’s handle. The strangled gasps and choking whines from Headliner pulled his gaze up to the woman as her legs bucked out, struggling to find footing that was no longer there and air that was nowhere to be found. It didn’t take long, before she finally gave in to inevitable strangulation of the noose.
A long moment passed after the chains around his ankles and wrists loosened. Carrot NUNA jumped down as her confinements loosened as well, maneuvering her way into the room with Jungkook. She ran into his arms, gratitude pouring from her mouth at being saved, promising to destroy all the footage she had, but he quickly shoved the woman away from him. His eyes glared, honed in on the woman he chose not to save, her body gently swaying in the air.
A door behind him opened, and a large neon sign showcasing the word EXIT lit up above it and he swiftly made his way through it with his surviving sasaeng. But the door they went through didn’t provide any clues to where he was; it was pitch black on the other side. Obstacles and locked doors made Jungkook feel as if they were mice caught in an impossible maze as he attempted to guide himself and the crying woman behind him away from where they had started.
Would he ever escape this nightmare?

Hi there - it's the Muggle! :) Thanks for the enthusiastic invitation to share some thoughts! Why don't I start with my Muggle impressions of Jungkook since you brought that up on your blog? Please feel free not to post this or edit out anything you wouldn't want on your blog. I'm still basically a stranger in a strange land when it comes to BTS and K-pop in general. I don't know the customs, taboos, and shibboleths, so I never know when I might put my foot in it!
I should start by saying that prior to July 14, 2023, I didn't know who Jungkook was. I didn't know the names of *any* BTS members. I couldn't tell them apart. I couldn't have picked one of them out of a lineup. I knew *of* BTS. I'd seen a few of their music videos from my YouTube recs, and I'd seen them perform on TV a few times -- mostly late-night talk shows.
In May 2019 they did a live performance in NYC's Central Park for Good Morning America. I live in NY and that appearance was a local news story, because kids were sleeping out on 5th Avenue for days to get in. So I think I wound up watching it just because it was in the news. I can't even recall if I watched it live, or later on YouTube. They did "Boy with Luv," which I sort of recognized, and "Fire," which I didn't know at the time. It was...a magical performance. It put such a smile on my face and I thought the audience was as enchanting as the band themselves. There was just something so joyful and unique and *special* about it. It stayed with me enough that when the pandemic hit the following year, I would sometimes pull up that video to watch again.
That explains why I tuned in to see Jungkook on Good Morning America this July. Once again, I only found about out it because it was a local news story: people camping out on 5th Ave. for a chance to get in. Sadly, the live broadcast never happened because there was a lightning storm and the park had to be evacuated. GMA aired a pre-recorded sound check instead. And that may have been why it felt like something was missing? I thought Jungkook looked very young, and very cute, and quite nervous. And I thought he looked a little lonely without the rest of the group. It may have just been me, mentally comparing this performance to the 2019 one. His energy seemed off, but you know...it was a sound check! And you can see the sky literally turning black behind him! They might've already suspected that the broadcast was going to be canceled. And the weather was overall humid and revolting. So, not the best conditions, especially for making a solo debut. I literally thought, "Poor kid!"
From there I watched the "Seven" video, the non-explicit one. I thought it was a perfectly OK pop tune. Top 40-ready. Again, I thought Jungkook was very cute and very young.
Then I heard there was a second, explicit version of "Seven," and I just thought...well, of *course* there is. Because this artist *is* very cute and very young and sex just seems to be the hackneyed shortcut to "maturing" a young artist's image. I didn't -- and don't -- know how much of that is coming from Jungkook himself and how much is direction that *this* is what he needs to do to differentiate himself from BTS and present himself as a pop star in his own right. Personally? I didn't feel like it suited him. Not because it was too sexy but because it was so..."Oh, *this* again." It just felt very...ordinary.
Writing this out made me realize that this is the dilemma facing an artist like Jungkook. How do you show that you're a grownup artist in your own right if people look at you and see "young" and "cute?" I can't answer that. I just feel like there *has* to be a more creative way to do that than just raunching things up.
I don't know what to say about "3D" because I can't get back in that 100% Muggle mindset anymore. I have more familiarity with who Jungkook is, so I know that's coloring my opinion. If anything, I now feel disappointed that this seems to be the direction his first solo venture is taking. If before it was, "Oh, *this* again," now it's more like..."I *know* there's more to him than *this*."
I'm not a Swiftie, but I really admire Taylor Swift's management of her image and career. I am absolutely certain that at some point, she was advised that she'd never cross over from teenage country sweetheart to megawatt popstar unless she presented a more "mature" image -- i.e., a more sexual one. She didn't buy into that. And look where she is now.
You wrote, "Do they see him as a "fuck boy", as a sexy and legitimate pop star, or as an typical bg member (ie. not a "serious artist", pandering to his "crazy" female audience)? Does this new image come across as somewhat immature and fake to them, the way it does for many of us Army who know him?"
My friend, it came across as immature and fake to me three months ago when I *didn't* know him! I saw something magical on that stage in 2019, even when I didn't know (or honestly, care) who any of them were. I don't want *any* of them to be merely a fuckboy or a sexy popstar or a "typical" member of a K-pop band. They have magic in them. They don't ever need to be ordinary.
Hi again!
Honestly, I've many complaints about Jungkook's GMA performance but it was technically only a sound check, and he had a cold, though I have complaints about Jungkook's performances in general lately.
I didn't think Jungkook came across as particularly mature, because, to me, the image he's projecting now is more comparable to Bieber or other basic white dudes. It's also very Western boy group. Jungkook is a better singer, dancer, nicer, hotte,r than pretty much every male artist, but, still, the MVs, the explicit lyrics, the choreos, his fits, his photoshoots, the collabs, etc. - the combination of all those things - paints a picture of him that is more Shawn Mendes-esque than Harry Styles, using an example of two singers with younger fanbases but with a very distinct image and reputation. What Jungkook wants is to be a Harry Styles, someone who successfully transitioned from being a bg member with a teen following (and all the limitations that comes with that, no offense to teens!), to a mostly respected artist with a mature, sexy (and progressive) image, not juvenile at all. Jungkook's image right now is pretty juvenile. It's hard to talk about Jungkook like this, but it's true. Jungkook is a smart, mature, kind, well rounded individual and artist, with the ability to approach complex topics with his music and to deliver interesting performances, but his artistic output right now does not do him justice, and tbh, he's always beeen partial to "sexy" and "powerful" performances, to his detriment - he wants to feel sexy and cool, and goes about it in the least interesting way possible with his solos (like the My Time performance, Seven, 3D).
There's nothing wrong with being a respectful basic white boy lmao (in spirit), or to be a boy group member, but what Jungkook wants is to be taken seriously, and neither of those archetypes are, nor are they seen as mature - hence Jungkook is unsuccessful in that regard. However, he is becoming a big pop star (in the conventional sense) and has more freedom now to discuss certain topics without the fans losing their shit (they still do, but mostly in a good way).
I want to ask, if Jungkook didn't impress you, and you already knew of BTS and had a positive impression of them yet that wasn't enough for you to become interested, how did you become Army?
Thanks for sharing!

So what do you think about the other survivors
“I could also start listing what I dislike about some of my peers, but we really don’t have time for that.”
For @youryingyangjesse; I used the @drowsy-dreamwalker iteration of Quentin as well as her headcanon that Yun-Jin is teaching him Korean! Please go check out her blog, it’s absolutely phenomenal. ♡
|| Mun/artist Sino here! I’m actually going to be adding a bit of information on Moon-Soo, what a maknae is, and idol culture as I’m integrating it into my interpretation of NO-SPIN below the cut, so feel free to keep reading if some of my headcanons on that interest you!
|| So, first things first! I actually am not a follower of KPOP! All of the information I’m portraying is based on research, not personal fan involvement; therefore, if any of the following information is glaringly incorrect, feel free to message me! I want to be accurate in my portrayal of these characters and idol culture, as it’s something that deeply fascinates me and also deserves my utmost respect as an outsider.
|| An idol group’s maknae, which literally translates to ‘younger sibling’, is its youngest member (e.g. BTS’s Jungkook). Moon-Soo is not a canon character, which I guess makes him my oc! My personal headcanon (and what Yun-Jin’s responses will be representing) is that there were five members of NO-SPIN (Ji-Woon included) before the fire. Four of those five were in the group before Hak was scouted by Yun-Jin, and the youngest of them all was Moon-Soo. Soo was a golden maknae, which is a subcategory of maknae that essentially means that his idol persona was well-behaved, sweet, and angelic. He was one of the few big selling points of pre-Hak NO-SPIN because of his marketable disposition. Ji-Woon did not just provide an edgy touch to the group as a whole when Yun-Jin sought his talents, but juxtaposed young Moon-Soo especially. || Fans absolutely ate up their contrasting dynamic. Yun-Jin was proud of her decision to capitalize on Ji-Woon’s differences from NO-SPIN’s preexisting aesthetic and was sure that cameras captured the golden baby and the dark newcomer’s interactions. Lee was and continues to be, after all, a smart producer. Moon-Soo was a genuinely sweet person on and off the stage; he had the kind of soft optimism that Lee usually disliked working with because it was unrealistic, but Moon wormed his way into her heart and she came to (privately) regard him as a younger brother by sentiment. As you can imagine, his death weighed heavily on her no matter how shrewd a shark of business she was and how much she was using NO-SPIN as people to generate a market.
|| I won’t add much more to this little aside. If you want to know more about my headcanons for the other members of NO-SPIN, feel free to direct questions either to Yun-Jin or to me via the ask box! Both of us are... mostly (in her case, I’m always down) willing to talk about them! And before I go, a big thank you for the incredibly kind, warm welcome to the community! I got more asks in this first week than I possibly could have imagined, and all of the lovely words and interaction make my heart absolutely soar. Sincerely, thank you again! ♡

About Jungkook's scandal. Someone leaked two pictures of him with his Tattoo artist. One, he was back hugging her and the other, they were sharing a drink. A rumor started that they were dating. Some army defended him saying they were friends, some said it's ok if he was dating her, and others attacked her. Big Hit and the girl denied the rumor and the shop Manager got fired for disclosing customer information.
Jungkook should be free to hang out with his female friend without anyone making rumors about them dating.
Also BTS are very popular and the members are smart, they wouldn't just meet their lovers in public.
And when that time comes when they decide to share who they are dating, I hope army will be mature about it.
That girl and their studio used the scandal for money, even bh threatened them later. People who believe those two really dated are probably still kids.
