Hah obviously I have some more specific thoughts for Nozel ships. I really hope I won't make anyone upset with these. They're just my opinions.

Nozel x Vanessa -> doesn’t make sense, compels me

Let’s start with saying this is my favourite canon x canon ship for Nozel. I’ve drawn them and read them, but let me explain why it doesn’t canonically make sense to me. 

Before I set up tumblr I didn’t even think to ship them together, because they never really interacted (correct me if I’m wrong). I only got to like them once I saw them here and read a bit about them. However it’s hard for me to picture the start of their interaction without some outside force to literally make them. Also long term relationship… but let me get to that later.

Firstly their types based on the assorted questions brigade:

Nozel: “Someone with dignified strength who can give their all for the prosperity of the House of Silva” 

I don’t think he’s saying this “just to be proper”. Nozel really cares about his house and I think that a quality of being able to take care of and represent it can make a person attractive in his eyes. 

I’m not saying that Vanessa couldn’t just that it would not really be her style. She got out of her cage and pushing her onto Royal customs would be cruel in my opinion. She could definitely not walk around in her underwear, or casually get drunk. She likes this part of herself and is happy being a Black Bull.

Vanessa: “Wild men with muscles <3” 

Yeah… That’s not Nozel (I admit I have drawn him with way more muscles than he has… It’s a hot art I’m not going to change it and yes a future Paper Hearts illustration, normally I draw him skinnier)

Why does it compel me? (Because it does a lot)

They are both one of my favourites BC characters.

Nozel is not a good boy (closeted perv let’s face it) and Vanessa is definitely up for some heated adventure. Both are very hot. She’s flirty, she’ll pull him out of his shell. They could support one another and emotionally I think they would work well. I enjoy them in fics and the stories are amazing. I love how she would flirt with him and he would get more and more bold as they grew closer. Also there is that spicy forbidden romance part.

There are actually quite a few similarities between Vanessa and Helena as they’re best friends and I enjoy how those qualities shine through her interactions with Nozel. 

I see Nozessa so much in a heated, passionate romance. It’s just long term that doesn’t sit right with me… I feel like they would need to sacrifice a part of themselves to be with the other and I wouldn’t want that. She needs to be free and Nozel is a Royal who takes pride in it, it’s not just his burden. 

Nozel x Helena -> makes sense, compels me (you said it yourself, how could own OC ship not)

Overall I talked a bit about them in my fic explanation post.

I created Helena to explore Nozel more. This is actually my first ever OC x canon ship that I've invested in, because I'm more of a canon x canon shipper. Just that I only knew of Dorothy x Nozel and Fuego x Nozel back then and they didn't really appeal to me as something to write for and have a fun story for.

Why do they make sense? 

Despite them being so different there are actually quite a few parallels between them. For example both had a situation in their youth, which somehow set them on a path. They’re both the eldest siblings. And there are few more.

Similar backgrounds for sure. Both of them are Royals and take pride in their houses. Helena will be a great lady of the house. She was prepared for this and knows how to perfectly manoeuvre in high society. She can be a great support and simply a partner to him in his duties. 

She’s his type from the assorted questions brigade. (yeah the pervy part as well xd)

Helena brings in the warmth and will provide a family atmosphere. Being the eldest of seven siblings taught her that. She “fits” in the Silva family with Noelle, Nebra and Solid. Over time she develops relationships with all of them, so it’s not just Nozel she makes sense with.

Why does it compel me?

Enemies to friends to lovers, Sunshine x grumpy, Blue x red relationship

They have so many imperfections and they mess up, but they get up and try to fix them. There's also quite a lot of plot ahead of us and I don't want to spoil anything, but what happens later is actually more determining in my opinion to how they are fit for and grow with one another.

There are also some parallels with how Nozel treated Noelle and how he treats Helena, so that’s interesting. 

Helena is a virgin, but very much not opposed to sexuality, so they have some spicy, heated moments.

I feel like they can really connect on a deeper level and I like how their story begins right with the beginning of BC. We see the whole development of Nozel and how they interact through it. For example how their relationship changed after Fuego fell in a coma. So it's not just Nozel after he went through a change and apologised to Noelle.

They compliment each other. Helena “makes Nozel have fun” and he can tone her down (this is needed at times).

The birdies… I love my next gen trio so much. I like how they have traits inherited after both Nozel and Helena. I love picturing them as parents.

I feel like there’s more, but I’ve talked about them enough here. 

Nozel x Fuegoleon -> makes sense, doesn’t greatly compel me

As you probably noticed I focus a lot on the “Royal aspects” in the makes sense part and Fuego fits this part. They are close, clearly trust each other and they have amazing dynamics. They’re childhood friends. I’ve seen some cute arts for them and I know they’re pretty popular.

However why it doesn’t greatly compel me? (Besides the fact that I ship both of them with some OCs)

I just think of them as good friends, more than lovers. And somehow I’m not the biggest fan of how Nozel is portrayed in this relationship. He somehow seems “weak” and “needs to be taken care off”. Maybe that’s just me, but it was the vibe I got from few works (not all of them, some were cute and amazing). Maybe I somehow don’t see him have “bottom” energy, but Fuego doesn’t have it either. 

However they would support and care for one another. I also love the hot and cold dynamics and childhood friends romance.

So I like some aspects of this ship and some don’t. 

I would still put it as my second canon x canon Nozel ship.

Ok so this wikipedia article was a LOT more elaborate than I expected, I just spend over two hours going through it and making notes Nobody asked for it but here are my notes on Diomedes, theyre not consistent, i changed style and detail a few times, but alas here we go:

Dio and ody face the spy of the trojans Dolon, (hiding between corpses) he almost runs away but Athena “is fighting to be known” doesnt want someone else to strike first, so she makes Diomedes throw the spear and orders him to stop, Dolon tells them good gossip, including white horses, Dio kills him

they do some more bs, like killing people in their sleep (dio) and stealing horses (ody) dio considers unaliving more until athena suggests he may stop so other gods dont get jealous

both kings are good at being stealthy AND open combat

Rhesus horses are badass (first sign for the fall of troy), Dio gets them (bedding gift?), people without the horses and king leave W for the achaeans

Lord of War Cry

dio throws a spear at hector, apollos helmet saves him, but he mingles with the crowd, first time that Dio speaks back and calls him a dog (even the best men loose their temper at times)

Dio wins all funeral games of patroclus (though wounded) – Athena makes sure of it – draws first blood in the fight with Ajax, they stop him worried he’d kill him

kills some amazons, Achilles kills his cousin (who was a bitch), dio mourns him though and wants to have achilles punished

Dio and Ody bring Achilles son to Troy after Achilles death (bc they could not win the war without him there)

Ody and Dio sent to negoiate for peace after Paris’ death (by poised bow that the two of them stole?)

dio and ody gotta steal a statue of athena, ody disguises himself as beggar at night, dio follows later and brings the statue out

Ody tries to stab him in the back?? (to get the glory himself???) Dio catches it and ties him, and shoves him infront of himself, but refrains from punishing him because they need him (“for the greater good”)

dio is one of the warriors inside the trojan horse

dio leaves immediatly after the fall of troy (after the achaeans angered athena through the rape of cassandra by ajax the lesser) and arrives home safely (favored by the gods) Post Trojan war possibilities:

when he gets there his wife has commited adultery and keeps him out of town (palamedes brother having told he brought a different woman) aphrodite being pissed about the scratch helps her get many lovers, he has to leave again

gets kidnapped by some guy to get sacrificied to ares, gets saved by a girl

comes to the court of some other king who offers him his daughter as wife and lands, if he fights for them, so he does, and has two sons with her

he refuses to fight more trojans later on, he just wants to live in peace

birds haunt him and his men (his men cried so much over his death they got turned into birds)

The new manager, Cho Hyun-ju, says she’ll do everything to ensure your debut is successful, but it’s a long road until she gains your trust, especially when her own secrets come to light. Or, the kpop/krock/band AU no one asked for.

Warnings: Slowwwww burn. Kind of an inherent power imbalance but reader isn't taking bs from anyone, and reader is 20+. Reader is AFAB and uses she/her. She's implied to be Korean/from South Korea but no physical description is used.

A/N: So I've had the horrible idea of a kpop au for Squid Game since the first season came out. Originally I'd thought of a Sangwoo x Reader fic but it felt in bad taste at the time. Season 2 came out and I can't stop thinking about Hyun-ju so uh. You're getting this.

Five years. You’ve been in trainee hell for five years, learning the ins and outs of PR, songwriting, language, appearances, how to fucking smile at a camera when all you wanted to do was sing and play guitar and look out at a crowd with more people than you can count on your hands. All for your dreams to be stolen away, packed up in bags and expedite-shipped to the United States. 

If you could go back in time to tell your past self to save herself the trouble and give up music altogether, you’d consider it. Or at least tell her to flip off the agency scout the second he approaches. Sure, you’d still be busking on the street, but you’d be spared this bullshit and continue life with hope still. You don’t want to be an idol. You want to be– you are a musician, and the evidence was going to be your debut.

Your band, 4tune, is slated to record your debut in a month, and begin promotions just a couple months from now, but thanks to your no-good-money-stealing-piece-of-shit ex-manager, the money set aside for appearances and advertising is no longer in the company’s bank account. With grim faces, you, your bandmates, and a few members of the company higher ups gather around a table in an emergency meeting.

“It’s ridiculous,” Se-mi crosses her arms across her chest, huffing her bangs out of her eyes. “What a coward.” She stands, crossing to a floor-length window and staring at the skyline of Mapo-gu, disbelief written on her face. 

Your mouth forms a thin line. “Who just… takes the money and runs? How was he allowed to take all of it anyway?”

“That’s all we know,” the CEO, Hwang In-ho, murmurs. He laces his fingers together and scans the rest of the band’s faces as you take in the not-quite-death-sentence he delivered your group. “We’ve got the police in South Korea and the United States investigating, but they haven’t found him yet.”

“So what does this mean for 4tune? I mean, are we… still going to debut?” Young-mi asks. 

“We don’t have a manager, we don’t have money, we don’t have a debut.” Jun-hee puts a hand on her forehead, closing her eyes in exasperation. 

“Actually,” In-ho raises a finger. “We do have a new manager for you. She couldn’t make this meeting, but she’s coming up from Busan after lunch. You’ll meet her tonight or tomorrow.” He leans forward in his seat, and rests both arms on the table in front of him. “Rest assured, you will debut.”

You can’t help but feel your lips curl into a sneer. A new manager? Who’s to say this one won’t make off with whatever scraps of money are left? You hear Se-mi scoff from the window, her thoughts echoing your own. Jun-hee looks hesitant, but Young-mi looks up at In-ho with hope.

“What’s her name? What’s she like?”

“Cho Hyun-ju. She’s an old acquaintance.” Looking over the group’s faces, In-ho stands, and begins to make his way to the meeting room door. “I’ve known her for a long time. She’s a good person.” Hardly glowing praise, but you suppose anyone would be better than the ex-manager. The other company members follow In-ho out of the room, meeting adjourned, leaving just your group members with their thoughts.

Your gaze lingers on the frosted glass door they left from. “Great. A manager, but no money. She can drive us around and shit, but we have nowhere to go. What’s the point?” Your words are bitter, spat in sorrowful resignation. 

Young-mi, ever the optimist, takes your hand in her’s. “Let’s give her a chance. In-ho sajangnim vouched for her, I say we see how she clicks with us before giving up on her.” She smiles meekly at the other members. None of you share her optimism, but with a shared side eye, the rest of you begrudgingly hear Young-mi out and agree.

“Fine,” you offer. “But if she does anything remotely shady I’m clawing my way out of this contract.” ꕤ

Despite the sudden wrench in 4tune’s future plans, you all have a schedule to uphold, so you go through the motions as if nothing was wrong. After a short break for lunch, language classes, pose training, you finally make it to the only part of training that doesn’t feel like a chore: rehearsal as a whole band. 

The rehearsal space is intimate; a small room with warm wood-panel flooring and a three-person couch in the corner. Se-mi’s drum kit is already set up on the drum rug, as is Young-mi’s keyboard and three amps, one for Young-mi’s bass, one for Jun-hee’s guitar, and one for yours, as well as a vocal mic on a long arm. Stepping into the space brings an energy you thought would be lost following this morning’s bad news, and you place your guitar’s hard case down with a determined vigor.

You unlatch the case, and pull out your guitar, a Fender Lite Ash Telecaster. The strap rests perfectly on your shoulder, the neck fitting perfectly in your left hand, a guitar pick in your right. The quarter-inch cable plugs into your guitar with a satisfying click and the amp hums to life when you switch it on. You set upon tuning your guitar, but it doesn’t take much adjustment for any member of the band, and soon your group is playing the first notes of what will be your title track for your debut.

It’s an upbeat song, and the lyrics are inherently hopeful and optimistic. You feel the stress pouring out of you as you hear how well the band plays together. From the wailing of Jun-hee’s guitar, to the machine-like precision of Se-mi’s drumming, to the effortless jumping from keys to bass by Young-mi, pride fills your heart knowing that you’re collaborating, and creating something beautiful in spite of everything going wrong.

You play rhythm guitar and sing. Closing your eyes, you pour your heart and soul into the high-energy chorus, the softer verses, and everything in between. As the outro plays out and you all play your final notes, a soft applause that crescendos into a quick flurry of claps breaks through your reverie. 

You hadn’t noticed when she came in, but at the door stands an unfamiliar woman. She’s tall, and seems a bit younger than In-ho. Her hair is cut at her shoulders with blunt bangs reaching her eyebrows. She’s dressed well, and she’s not standing timidly per-se, but there’s an awkwardness to how she holds herself, like she’s unsure if she’s allowed in this space.

“I’m sorry,” she smiles at the band. “I was told you were in this practice room and I heard you playing. You all sound amazing.”

Young-mi smiles back. “You must be the new manager! It’s nice to meet you! I’m-”

“Young-mi, right?” Young-mi nods. The woman turns to the drumset, “You’re Se-mi,” to the lead guitarist, “and Jun-hee,” and then she turns to you, and says your name so tenderly, so kindly, every fiber of your being is shouting at you to give her a chance. “And yes, I’m Cho Hyun-ju, your new manager.” ꕤ

Rehearsal stagnates after Hyun-ju’s arrival as the band seems more interested in the new arrival than playing, but you keep your guitar plugged in and guitar strap on. Young-mi puts down her bass and steps away from her keyboard to approach Hyun-ju immediately, Jun-hee following soon after. You pluck out a few notes here and there, trying to at least try to get through your part of the next song, but after Se-mi stands up from her drumset, you give up trying to continue rehearsal.

Hyun-ju seated herself on the couch in the corner. Jun-hee and Se-mi stand in front of her, and Young-mi sits beside her. “I’m excited to work with you all,” Hyun-ju half-bows in her seat. “You sounded amazing playing just now, your debut will be a hit, I can just feel it.”

“We’re happy to have you here too. I’m sure you’ve heard but our last manager flaked out on us.” Se-mi explains. Hyun-ju hums a condolence, eyes casting down to the ground. “We’re almost ready to record our album, so I’m sure you’ll have a lot to do coming up.”

You clear your throat, walking over to the group. “What experience do you have managing?” You don’t mean for it to come out as harsh as it does. It’s supposed to be a light conversation about her work history, not an interrogation into her credentials. Hyun-ju’s face falters at the stern tone, and you kick yourself internally.

“Managing specifically, I've done most of the tasks individually before. That is, things like schedule management and driving and the like. I do have experience in the music and idol industry outside of management.”

You try to school your expression, you really do, and you pull your lips into a not-quite-smile that ends up looking more like a grimace. “Well then,” you push out, “I’m sure you’ll do fine.”

SCREAMS thank you for the Salesman/Gi-hun headcanons!!! I rlly wish there was another ship name than Saleshun, since that’s super close to Salesjun, which is Salesman/Jun-Ho. Either way— do you have any more headcanons for those two (Gi-hun and Salesman?) do you think the Salesman would try to get Gi-hun into the games, or keep him as far away as he can? How would Jung-bae or Gi-hun’s mom react to this weird freak suddenly being around Gi-hun all the time, like a weird stray dog?

Gi-hun x Salesman Headcanons

This will be continuing off the headcanons i made in this post:

-The salesman would likely keep him away from the games, mainly because he thinks Gi-hun wouldn’t win and just leave upon a majority vote. Salesman also would have a feeling he’d come back with a vengeance. Not worth the trouble. He has his own games for Gi-hun, take that as you will

-Gi-huns mom is heavily disappointed in Gi-huns relationship choices, but the salesman gives Gi-hun money to take care of the both of them so whatever works. he’s an adult and shes too tired of this bs too care.

-Jung-bae side eyes them HEAVILY. He can see the salesman is weird and always up to no good. He speaks to Gi-hun about it but Gi-hun doesn’t listen. Gi-hun is far too addicted to their love game and having a cute guy at his fingertips.

-Salesman is a guard dog

-Salesman makes him WORSE. really feeds into his addiction. only good he does is makes sure some of it goes towards improving gi huns and his family’s life

-Salesman once caught Gi-hun feeding a stray cat and nearly lost his composure

-The salesman, for the most part, successfully lies and manipulates Gi-hun about his job

-they love their slight height difference

-the salesman is also strangle good with cats, so they foster cats together

-gi-hun lowkey knows the salesman has an odd job so he tries to investigate but is heavily sabotaged

-gi-hun is always giggling around the salesman. man is like a school girl lmao

-salesman is his usual stoic self around gi-hun but sometimes he can bring out a reaction or emotion

-the salesman has a 20 step shower and grooming routine while gi hun uses the basics. sometimes the salesman tries to get him to try it, either by showing him or doing it to him himself (inspired by a recent inhun post ive seen by theadorelocksly)

-their dates are almost always gi-hun yapping or doing something while the salesman just watches him and gives his small remarks

-it takes a while but the salesman finally opens up and starts talking about himself more to gi-hun

-gi-hun is a romantic and the salesman is smooth, as i said before, but not necessarily the same type of romantic

-very much more of a toxic, addictive relationship than any type of normal one

Mouthwashing and fandom discourse as a whole.

So I recently explored the tag for Mouthwashing after watching two no-commentary lets plays of the entire game. I'm seeing a lot of posts pointing out how annoying it is that this game has a fandom and that this fandom is doing fandom things and stanning/"uwu-ing" characters from this incredibly nuanced, raw and not-fandom friendly piece of art. To paraphrase someone I just saw "you don't want mouthwashing; you want Among Us ocs but darker". And

for a moment I wanna talk a bit about how I absolutely agree with this statement while also talk for a moment about how and why fandom and catharsis fan fics exist and shouldn't be shamed inherently. Or, I guess, not in theory.

The "come on! Stop trying to make everything shippable/cutsey/memey/have a happy AU and face unpleasant emotions someone's trying to tell you about!" is SUCH a vibe with me. I felt this way in the 9 fandom a lot as a kid and that was just 9. Mouthwashing is like 9 on bathsalts emotions and theme-wise. It's a game where you play as both the flawed but caring captain of a doomed ship who's life becomes a Johnny Got His Gun-nightmare, and also a deplorable, hateful piece of garbage who got himself and his friend in that nightmare situation to begin with. Both characters, moreso Jimmy but Curly too, are the causes of their own misery. They're complex dealing with one of the two committing SA and doing nothing really about it/dodging the responsibility and humanity needed to support the victim whom they've wronged.

I fully admit it's groan-inducing seeing people be shipped up Anya with anyone on the ship considering what happens to her. On a pure pr level I think it would be illegal even since romance between coworkers in a workplace is considered conflict of interest/harassment as it so often is. (NOT that what Jimmy did to Anya is 'romance'. I'm talking about the shipping of Anya with the other three guys. I know there's people out there who do ship Jimmy/Anya; you don't have to tell or show me I believe you and also I already hate it.) It's ALSO groan inducing to see people ship Curly and Jimmy considering all Jimmy does to him- and just the fact that this incredibly tragic, toxic one-way-gone array friendship is reduced to "toxic yaoi teehee". It's annoying AT BEST.

I get the hostility towards fandom-tastic stanning and fandom behavior in general...the issue is it's still hostility and I wish some of you guys got that.

Like it or not (you don't have to like it) fandom culture is inevitable to some degree. You can and should complain about your hangups but that's all you can do besides avoiding tags and just not engaging with that side of the fandom at some point. Save your call-outs and rage for when you see active deplorable bs being committed that people are excusing for dumb fandom reasons, like lolicon, hatespeech or harassment. There's a difference between someone who draws r34 v Shadbase. For profandom types you out to face the fact that yes- maybe NOT EVERYTHING is meant to be shippable/memed. Maybe try practicing that a bit. Yeah it's mostly harmless and makes you feel happy, but considering how people outside of your hyperfixation-of-a-hyperfixation is a thing. Asking to care or think about others once in awhile is not an attack on you as a person, believe it or not. The thing about the "don't like, don't read" argument is it goes both ways. If you're truly a "good fan" like you say you are than you have to realize that people will not like your problematicisms. Learn to interact with characters and stories without the possibility of shipping sometimes- or at least understand that that's the crux of what makes a story like Mouthwashing engaging, even if you also partake in the fandumb and AUs on the side. You can call Curly your babygirl and ship him or make him happy all you want but PLEASE acoknowledge that the game doesn't woobify him or excuse what he did to Anya as well. You can make some kind of AU scenario where Jimmy gets out somehow and becomes/is a slightly better person for all I care...so long as you PLEASE remember that he is canonically a r@pist and awful. Also, even if I'm okay with your fan decisions, note that myself and others are still going to be critical and be upset that you wrote it at all because of what kind of character Jimmy is. 'Critical' =/= declaring something evil.

Fandom behaviors are not souly a destructive parasocial outcome of brainrot; they're also a natural reaction to what happens canonically and the emotions you have to experiencing a story. It's normal and rational to sympathize and love Curly and despise and hate Jimmy. You can love/like/enjoy a problematic-to-DEEPLY DISTURBED-character based on their complexity in canon. They are fiction. They are not real. The reason you are so invested with them is because of that complexity and yes because they are fiction they are your 'toy' and you can doll them up in any kind of speculative AU crap you make. That's fanfiction, baby. Make yourself a fixit fic if you really want

BUT-

remember: it stays as a fixit fic. DO NOT cross the streams, or insist that your active misreading of the text is the same as the text itself. EVER. You should care about your special interest's escapism as a means of self-care. What you shouldn't do is demand that EVERYONE ELSE LOVE your coping mechanism and that any complaints by people on their own terms on their own blogs is #badfaith or an inherent attack against you. It isn't. You'll know when it is an attack against you and that's when you, the profandom-type, need to be prepared and save your call-out posts and blocklist for.

To me that's the fragility to fandom debates and fandom as a whole. You can not/should not police or control an entire group of people and how they perceive or interact with media. That's not fair and it's definitely not sporting or decent of you in a community. You have to share your community -your fandom- with people who hate ur fav and people who love your least fav. Agreeing to disagree means not tagging your nOTP as their shipname or by tagging your shipname loud and clear. It means filtering out posts with those topics but enjoying and/or reblogging the fandom takes you do share with your fellow fandom-mite that obviously posts abt those topics.

-itysg: many of you might know this one already as it's in an a/n, but i originally entertained the idea of having ajax and zl adopt ruu thanks to some abyssal energy nonsense. i ended up ditching that route bc it would've had to have started when they go to tsurumi? but if you'll remember, ajax then was in no state to support a kid with the magnitudes of baggage that ruu would have at that point, so no.

-cyanide: i don't think there was anything major i ever changed abt cyanide, believe it or not, at least not that i can remember now. the more interesting part abt it is the fact that it got written at all, bc as i was developing wips and seeing which i would pick next, not only was cyanide not my main idea, it was also one in like. twelve. i have SO MANY zhongchi longfic wips. so many. some came up during cyanide and some during babysitting, but a good chunk all sprang up together with cyanide's original draft, so. i had sort of set it aside and was focusing on the True childe suffers fic, but ended up reaching a point there where like. i was kinda following canon. and unlike in the thomato fic that's similar to this wip, i couldn't wrap up childe's situation as swiftly as thoma's, so i started waiting for updates and then that sort of got the fic stuck in a cycle where i know damn well childe's plot in-game is going to be fucking wild and shit kept happening to him (hi inazuma, hi scarascratch, hi fontaine) and i added it to the wip and then i waited for more etc etc. idk. i picked up cyanide as i paused that one and sort of went 'huh ok this one is interesting' i still want to write a beta design childe fic at some point but who knows if i'll ever get around to it (that was the one). i also have a hanahaki wip but the thing is he bribes baizhu to take the flowers out like first scene and the actual plot is emotionless childe navigating all the bs that happens to him while zl tries to figure out when things went so wrong. there's also like two mafia wips that are just variants of each other. there's two mirroring timetravel wips bc i couldn't decide who i wanted to timetravel lmao. there's a different transmigration idea more along the lines of eoos (childe gets into the actual game no weird timeline shenanigans like in cyanide). that's not even the half of it this ship has an absolute chokehold on my writing brainworms.

-jadeite: to elaborate on the previous post which i assume inspired this ask, the first draft of jadeite actually didn't go too far. zl comes to in a hospital in the harbor bc czl had been about to go to a job interview for wangsheng, and as soon as he got to the door and said hi to hu tao a car veered off the street and nearly killed them. czl shoved hu tao out of the way and that's how he dies. originally in the hospital it was gonna be xiangling and xinyan w hu tao bc they came to check on her when shit happened, and they don't really explain much of anything to zl before leaving him. he spends the night in the hospital sort of figuring out how the TV works and going thru the same thought process as in actual jadeite. he gets discharged and is kinda out on his own for a bit (where childe sees him) before ht calls him for the parlor incident. childe isn't present for that in this draft. that's all the first chapter lmaooooo there wasn't all that much after that honestly. a bit of a second chapter and some plot points, but i hadn't thought about it too much (i was writing cyanide at that point). once i came back to it like towards the end of cyanide i sat down and thought through the actual plot and what i wanted to happen and started modifying the first draft into something else, and then i frogged that second draft and the first into what you guys actually got to read

-every good intention: i started writing this immediately after parade of providence and i think you can tell, esp compared to ysmms which was before kaveh's release and therefore before my descent into 'oh god why' territory around his characterization. even before his hangout in 3.7 i could already tell something was off, that final convo on the interdarshan event was like- he's on thin ice now. so i have to confess that i didn't plan to write a third chapter at all. didn't even plan to post it bc it was two chapters of nothing but angst and i figured most people wouldn't care to read it (or might even incur some attack from fandom youngsters). it was going to end with the to-do list and an ambiguous/open end on what happened to alhaitham. but then i couldn't get the brainworms out of my head and i ended up deciding to post it (partly because i was so baffled and disappointed in the fandom about their reaction to that last scene in the interdarshan), but in order to get people to read it, i added the third chapter and the happy ending. one of the bookmarks from someone says something like 'just read the first two chapters' and honestly yeah i never read the last chapter anymore. it was supposed to end at the second, the third is there entirely to appease and entice the to-be audience and going by how many read it compared to two vowels it feels like it actually worked LMAOOOO so yeah let me leave the confession booth now don't shoot me haikavetham shippers i was with you once 😂

I really like all of these ships 😍 Overall I'm a big fan of "canon" stuff.

Finral x Finesse -> makes sense, compels me (I’m jut not that greatly passionate about them right now)

They obviously make sense from the canonic standpoint. Finral really likes Finesse and he tries to fight his “curse” to be with her. They are cute and adorable. I am including them in my fic. 

However I admit I used to be more passionate about them before joining the fandom, not sure why. Maybe because I got to know some cute OC ships such as @cloverkingsmith Nita (I love her so much). 

However I am hoping that once I get to writing them I’ll recover some of that passion, because I want Finral to be happy and Finesse is really sweet.

Lumiere x Nero -> makes sense, compels me (I’ll make an art of them for BC ships)

It makes so much sense. They are super cute together. Canonically they support each other so much and in my opinion are perfect for one another. It’s sad that they did not get a happy ending. It compels me of how they bring out the best in one another. Also they are just adorable. Nero being the “though” one and Lumiere a sweet cinnamon roll. 

@meircury makes some awesome arts for them and hopefully soon I’ll make my own.

Yami x Charlotte -> makes sense, compels me

YES. They were my favourite BC ship for a while. They’re dynamic is just so sweet and funny. Canonically they make a lot of sense with Charlotte’s apparent crush on Yami and how he saved her. Yami is oblivious, but now that he knows I really hope they will talk and sort this out. 

They compel me for so many reasons, both being captains, the beauty and the beast vibes, just how different they are, but how great they can be together. 

My first BC ships art was for them and they will appear in Paper Hearts at the right time.

Shipping should be fun, for the shippers and the shipped. I'll never try to policing feelings or thoughts but the fandom needs to learn to behave. If your emotions or thoughts make you a hater, you need to step back (and go to hell maybe). On the other hand, critical thinking is fair game and I would like to address two rebukes against Nic I've seen a lot lately: the hic given by relationship with a big age gap and the gaslighting towards fans.

First, the issue with age gap is definitely a real one. My problem is that she hasn't confirmed her relationship with Jake. What we know is what she has said in interviews: that she thinks people at Jake's age are babies / too young for her. When she's asked about her crushes, she always chooses people age appropriate and, for what we know, it would be the first time she's with someone that young. And even if she's with him, she seems to try to deviate that narrative. I mean yes maybe Jake was on her lock screen but she didn't want it to be seen. What she wanted us to see was her picture with Golda, holding her hand with intertwined fingers. What she wanted us to know is that she feels lucky when she can bring friends to events and talk with them as they are getting ready. And she made it clear that she wasn't happy with the pap pics and that DM is often BS. So, at least, she's clearly not promoting this kind of relationship. Maybe because they are not dating, maybe because she wants privacy or maybe because it could hurt her professionally. The point is: she sees the issue and is not sending the message that this kind of relationship is unproblematic.

I read also a lot, especially on Twitter, that she's not consistent and that she is gaslighting fans. It is said about two topics: her ask for privacy and the Lukola shipping.

About her asking for privacy and the way she brings Jake everywhere, and used her relationship with Luke to promote a show, I'll say what I've already said about her behavior with Jake, she won't change her behavior because of what we are saying. She's unashamedly herself, we love it when it's about her political awareness, her cute unhinged behaviors, her Queen statements, ... So we can't be mad at her when it's about Jake. If she feels she's right, she won't be afraid of the consequences, we've seen it with her advocacy for Palestinians. And she's kinda right here too, there is a difference between what is given and what is taken from you, there is a difference between stories posted by her, pics taken with her consent and stolen pics. Yes you can act accordingly to reality (and hide your bf/ rumored bf because there is no privacy when you are a celebrity) or you can act accordingly to your values and what you think reality should be. Nic has made her choice.

She's also accused of gaslighting fans about her relationship with Luke.

First I've read that she's hurting Luke when she entertains the ship while he stays quiet. It's crazy how people don't have memory when it's about sm. Luke does it too guys, and he's probably the one who keeps me on the ship because yes it's less often but it's crazier imho. Of course there are the jealousy, the staring, the check on her boobs, the bum pinching, the sneaky touchings, the moment in Brazil when he was putting Nic's hand on parts of his body that are not for friends or the infamous "I could be the Ken for hEeErr" (among other crazy things), but given the timing, let's say it was all PR (it wasn't). But after the 90 days, we had the story with the bloopers which he had to download from Twitter then cut to post as stories on IG (why Luke why?), the 3rd October post which doesn't make sense without the Lukola context, and the shared selfie. (We can also speculate about the wink to Nic biscuits'post in his Spain dump, the copy of Nic's font, the use of the Xx/xx, the "somewhere in Mayfair", his hands in HB post about Nic's fitting, ...). Yes it's less Lukola/polin content than Nic but look at his sm activity, proportionally it's huge. He barely posts about his fashion appearance, criquets about Viana, some hotel promotions and that's it, the rest is about Lukola (not even Polin in fact). So no I don't think Luke is hurt by Nic entertaining the shipping, they're doing it together.

So some fans feel betrayed by Nic because she has posted some Easter eggs implying she's dating Luke. I think it's unfair to say that. I agree she hasn't completely shut down the "more than friends" allegations. She keeps saying the same as they were saying during the tour: they are friends (not just friends) and blablabla about the unique relationship they have and that there is love, and oc no mention of a partner. So no, she's not really closing the door, but she's definitely not saying something is happening rn. And let's be honest, she has friendzoned Luke a lot. I'm the first one saying it always has been coupled with mixed messages, again not closing the door but not saying something is happening. The other Easter eggs are songs, the ring, the font, and a few posts about how great Luke is, the polaroid and the shared selfie. Nothing saying they are together rn. Everything about: Luke is important to her, and is kinda always on her mind. I'm not saying it's crazy to be a ring truther or to say the meeting with her family was meaningful, there are hints showing you could be right but you can't be sure. So you can't blame Luke and Nic if you were wrong and didn't understand their message.

I'm not a hypocrite, yes they're playing some games with the shipping, but it could just be fan service. It would be unfair to say they've said they were together.

Now why are they doing it and why don't they clarify their relationship with Jake and Antonia? Big question and that post is already way too long...
