Danish national team legend and SDHL star Josefine Jakobsen announced her retirement today after battling several major injuries in recent years

Jakobsen spent 13 years in the SDHL, where she won three championships with Djurgårdens before signing with Brynäs. She finished with 343 points in 310 games, tenth all time in points in the SDHL. Her 2010-2011 season of 58 points in 28 games is one of the best in SDHL history

Jakobsen had a major impact on Danish hockey. She was the second ever Danish NCAA women’s hockey player and attended university of North Dakota. She won countless best player on team awards in international competitions and helped Denmark earn promotion to the D1A level and their first Olympic appearance in 2022. She is Denmark’s leader in games played and points.

My Färjestad players to watch. 24/25 edition.

Damian Clara (G) - 2005 Italian-born, 199cm goalie who has signed his entry-level contract with the ducks. It will (hopefully) be his first season with A-laget after backing Brynäs in Allsvenskan to promotion back into the SHL.

Stian Solberg (D) - another Ducks' draft pick (1st round 2024), probably the biggest talent out of Norway in Idon'tknowhowlong. Will be very interesting to follow him through his switch from the Norwegian (men's) league to the top Swedish league at just 18/19 y.o. He's shown he's more than capable to play with "adults" at this year's worlds.

Marian Studenič (F) - coming back to Europe after a couple of seasons in North America (juniors, then a couple of NHL starts, mostly AHL). Personally, I'd love to see a Czechoslovak connection between him and Tomášek, and maybe they'll be able to repeat and one of them wins skytteligan again, but that's bias :)

2. Favourite player: Joakim Nygård. His speed. is. incredible. unbelievable.

3. Favourite rivalry: Okay, so . Over time, Färjestad has had several rivalries; with HV71 and with Djurgården, for example. But I've got to say that my favourite one is the one between Färjestad and Frölunda. There is always an unusually electric tension when they play each other.

Honorary mention of the in-family rivalry between me and my grandparents and my aunt: Färjestad v Brynäs and Färjestad v Skellefteå are always interesting games to watch because of how we cheer on different teams in my family :) especially when Färjestad wins 😏
