Magic Wig
Bad Taste Party. My God, that kind of thing happened at best in the frat house 20 years ago. But this is a 40th birthday. Shouldn't you be over those kinds of parties by then. Well, it's a colleague you're competing with for a promotion. If you don't let yourself be seen there, it's only negative for you in case of doubt.
On the weekend, you rummaged through your parents' closets. And you found a really ugly old tracksuit. On the internet you ordered a mullet wig and a chav hip bag from magictransformations.com. The address was on the invitation card as a recommendation. You should be sufficiently well equipped.
The evening of the party has come. You look really ridiculous in those clothes. But for a bad taste party perfectly appropriate. And somehow you feel damn cool with the hairstyle. Hehehehe, how long would it take to grow such a hair mat? Normally you would call a cab now. But the way you look, you better take the bus. Apparently you seem authentic. The bus driver takes a particularly critical look at your ticket. And the seat next to you remains free. That you massage your cock in the bus is also really exaggerated. But fuck, it feels just awesome. And somehow also bigger than usual.
From the bus stop to the house of your colleague are only a few steps. Pretty posh residential area. You couldn't afford it on your salary. Either he has a well-off wife… Or he has inherited. No matter, you begrudge him, as long as you get the promotion. The entrance area of the house does not necessarily look like Bad Taste. The path is lit with torches. From the brightly lit house comes music from the 80s. Then let's get into the hustle and bustle. You ring the bell. The wife of your boss was probably closest to the door and opens. In a black evening dress. Could she help you? Your boss steps in. Recognizes you. And starts to laugh uproariously. Whether you might be at the wrong party. To his knowledge, the dress code was BT. He waves your colleague over. An alley of people forms, who stare at you. Your colleague arrives grinning with a glass of champagne in one hand and a bottle of beer in the other. He hands you the beer and asks if you can take a little joke with the invitation. You can't and at least want to tear the ridiculous wig off your head. But you can't. It's on like glue. As if grown on. You turn around in horror and leave the property amidst the laughter of the guests.
Completely confused, you walk to the bus stop. You search in your hip bag for your wallet. But this is not your wallet. It's a cheap piece of rough fabric. And there are no more gold credit cards in it. It's just a Visa card. And your ID, your driver's license. And a gym card. That's you in the photo. But your neck is thicker than your head. And your mullet falls luxuriantly over your shoulders. At least your address seems to be correct. Your front door key still fits, too. But there are three names on your doorbell. And on the mailbox. You go up the stairs. In the hallway in front of your apartment door leans a fat mountain bike. And from the apartment you hear loud moaning. You have to grin. Zac just can't stop himself from pumping. It's the same for you. The neighbors have already complained about that. That's why you don't work out at home anymore. Gym is still open for two hours. That would still be worthwhile. You unlock the apartment door. Zac is lying on the weight bench in the former living room, covered in sweat. You greet him with a fist bump and ask if he wants to come to the gym with you. He stands up and takes a big sip of his protein shake. He farts, laughs and says that he has a date with a chick. He's out for the day. But Bryan should still be at the gym. That would be great, that you have a workout partner. And you can go out for a steak or something afterwards.
You also prepare a protein shake, pack your stuff and go on your way. For a Saturday night, the gym is pleasantly empty. You like that. No stupid looks when you drop the dumbbells. Bryan is doing his shoulder workout. You're with him.
Good workout. Tomorrow, chest and back. Maybe arms. And then you're ready for another week as a shift worker on the assembly line. Let's see if your promotion works out this year.

2024 in Wrestling - Tag Game
Thanks for the tag @sycamoretrees ! This is a great idea! To paraphrase someone (Mark Twain maybe?): sorry for the long post; I didn't have time to write a shorter one.
So, without further ado...
MVP/Wrestler of the Year
Honourable Mentions:
It would be remiss of me not to mention Konosuke Takeshita. The man has been on a tear across three different promotions this year, including having one of the best G1 runs by a newcomer in recent memory imo. If only his booking had been more interesting in AEW...
Bryan Danielson also casually produced banger after banger and tons of great stories in his final year as a full-time wrestler. Just one of the best to ever do it.
And of course El Desperado was out there living his dream, getting his arse out on live TV and having the horniest match I've ever seen.
Winner:
Zack Sabre Jr.
It had to be him, didn't it. First Brit and only the second non-Japanese wrestler to win the G1. First foreigner to win a Wrestle Kingdom main event. Champion of the world and of my heart 🧡 And every step of the way he's risen to the occasion, never disappointing in a main event position and stepping effortlessly into the role of champion. Long may he reign!
More after the cut!
Match of the Year
Look I can't possibly be expected to pick just one match, especially when I barely remember what I watched last week, let alone at the start of the year. So here are 6 matches that I enjoyed a lot, in no particular order.
ZSJ vs Gabe Kidd - NJPW G1 Climax 34
Everything I love about British wrestling and Japanese wrestling rolled together into one match. Two tough bastards beating the shit out of each other, with some flashes of technical brilliance.
ZSJ vs Bryan Danielson II - NJPW New Beginning in Osaka
I love a wide variety of types of wrestling, but if someone asked me which was my favourite, I would probably just show them this match. Intense, technical and violent, with a beautiful flow to it. Just magic.
Hiromu Takahashi & Jun Kasai vs Minoru Suzuki & Takayuki Ueki - Hardcore (Lego Deathmatch) - Despe Invitational
I am a strong believer that comedy wrestling is just as capable of greatness as 'serious' wrestling. This is a prime example. Everyone played their roles to perfection. Hiromu busted himself open on a railing before the match even started. Minoru Suzuki underestimated Lego. I don't think I stopped laughing the entire way through.
Chris Brookes vs El Desperado - DDT Wrestle Peter Pan
Extraordinary. Pro wrestling as art. Pro wrestling as a love story (or perhaps a 'lust story'). Would honestly have been *less* horny if they'd just stripped off and started having full-blown sex in the middle of the ring. It's rare to see violence and blood conveying affection/sexual attraction rather than hatred in wrestling, but wow did they ever here.
Hangman Page vs Swerve Strickland - steel cage match - AEW All Out
An interesting comparison to Chris vs Despe! Similarly bloody, similarly horny, but here the message is very much of obsessive hatred, however much they also clearly want to fuck each other. The ending also made me feel profoundly uncomfortable in a very effective way.
Will Ospreay vs Michael Oku - Rev Pro High Stakes
The best match I've ever seen live. It's testament to how good it was that I was prepared to miss the last train home rather than miss the end of it (thankfully they wrapped it up just in time!) A beautiful blend of drama, emotion and plenty of cool movez. Plus one of the best, loudest crowds I've ever been a part of.
Favourite Feud
I struggled with this one a bit, because 2024 was the year I stopped watching AEW regularly, and NJPW a) doesn't do feuds in quite the same way and b) was a bit light on big rivalries this year, imo. Still, there's one feud that immediately stands out...
Hangman vs Swerve
When they went back to this rivalry again so soon after their initial 2023 feud, I was a little concerned, because I thought there was no way it could be topped (pun only slightly intended). ...and then Hangman burned down Swerve's childhood home... A perfect blend of classic American wrestling melodrama, strong bloody violence, and psychosexual insanity. I thought it was really clever how they swapped the face/heel roles round while still making the characters feel authentic (please take notes MJF and Adam Cole).
Favourite Tag Team/Faction
Struggled with this one as well. My only regular promotion now is NJPW, which isn't exactly a bastion of great tag wrestling... I'm also generally just not a huge tag team guy.
Hon Mens:
Bullet Club War Dogs have been enjoyably camp and pleasingly violent, but the focus on Jake Lee joining really soured things for me, as I find the man incredibly tedious.
LIJ have also had a banner year as well I think, with the Naito/Hiromu stuff and Tsuji's rise. But Bushi is still there, so I can't in all good conscience pick them (joke) (mostly)
Winner:
Ichiban Sweet Boys (Robbie Eagles & Kosei Fujita)
I just love this pairing. Eagles is one of those wrestlers that I've always liked but never loved, but he seems to be having so much fun with Fujita, and it's just infectious. And Fujita is one of the most exciting junior prospects in NJPW in a while I think. Looking forward to their title reign a lot!
Favourite Show
Mention, Honourable:
Rev Pro High Stakes in February is probably one of the best live shows I've ever been to. Great atmosphere and a stacked card, with pretty much every match being enjoyable (and the Anthony Ogogo match providing a perfect opportunity for a piss break)
Winner:
Despe Invitational
In a year when AEW seemed to lose a lot of what made it fun for me, it was such a pleasant breath of fresh air to watch a show where 'fun' was the guiding principle. Literally every match on the card was fun in a different way: from the insanity of the Lego match, to the ribald joy of the main event, to the token 'sensible' wrestling match in the cooldown slot that a comedy match would normally be in. I have never laughed so much at a show I don't think. Despe is a genius.
Breakout (ish) Star
Honny Mens:
Will Ospreay. Hear me out on this one, okay. I know Ospreay has been a global star for years now, but 2024 was the year he finally found success on a massive stage. Not everything he's done this year has been totally For Me, but there's no denying that he's knocked it out of the park in AEW. I'm so happy for him!
2024 was the year I started watching DDT regularly, and discovered the joy of seeing Takeshi Masada in increasingly LGBT situations. With only 2 years of wrestling experience, he's already so impressive, not just in terms of his wrestling, but also his charisma and character. One to watch!
Winner:
Yuya Uemura
It may seem strange to pick someone who spent half of the year injured, but if the metric for "breakout" is 'opinion of them at the end of the year vs opinion of them at the start', then Uemura is the clear winner for me. After a lackluster performance at Wrestle Kingdom and in the months following, I was almost ready to write him off as having come back from excursion too soon. But then he had an absolutely incredible G1 run where he blew me away with how mature and intelligent his wrestling was. It's such a shame he got injured, because I honestly think he'd be in the mix for NJPW MVP now if not. Very excited to see what he does when he's back!
Horniest Moment
Oh man. So many contenders. A good year for horny wrestling!
HonMens:
Hangman and Swerve's promo where Hangman said "I want you on your knees"
Yota Tsuji vs Yuya Uemura - hair vs hair match - NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo.
Seemingly only @sycamoretrees and I watched this one, because I've never heard anyone else talking about it. But wow is it horny. If you're a fan of men being pulled up by their hair to crotch-level... absolutely do yourself a favour and watch this one.
Whatever toxic throuple Mariah, Toni & Mina had going on in AEW
ELP vs. Takeshita - G1 Climax
Winner:
Chris Brookes vs El Desperado
It had to be. The horniest match ever wrestled. 6 stars. 10/10. No notes.
Most Anticipated in 2025
More DDT!
One of the best parts of wrestling in 2024 was getting to watch more DDT (thanks @sycamoretrees !) It's quickly become my favourite promotion. I intend to watch even more in 2025!
Takeshita in NJPW
I was so excited when NJPW announced that Takeshita had signed a contract with them. Cannot wait to see what his NEVER reign looks like. So many exciting match-ups!
The Rise of Gabe Kidd (hopefully)
Gabe has been so exciting to watch in 2024. And his big match with Kenny at Dynasty (which I still haven't seen yet!) is going to get even more eyes on him. I'm hoping that 2025 is the year he really starts to get a proper push. Would be great to see him challenge for (and win??) a major belt at some point!
ZSJ: Forever Champ
Was so pleased that Zack retained his title at Wrestle Kingdom! Really excited to see what's next for his heavyweight title reign, now it's clear he's going to be more than a transitional champion.
Okay. Phew. That's it. Now to tag some other people.
@thewaythroughthewoods @livelaughlariat @unpairedbracket – no pressure, but I'd love to read your picks!
Anyone else who wants to be tagged, consider yourself tagged! Go on! Treat yourself!

Last lap commentary of Monza GP 2024 by Števo Eisele, Josef Král and Pavel Fabry:
the whole english translation inspired by @sedicii is under the cut!
ŠE: We’re in the last lap, friends. Charles Leclerc in a Ferrari, again it reminds me after the amazing but truly unbelievable win in Monaco, when he overcame a huge curse, a jump into the sea followed. I have no idea what kind of surprise they could prepare here in Monza, if he doesn’t jump into the crowd, because on the finish line straight, I already see the huge Ferrari heart, the huge fan signs. Charles Leclerc experienced this here in 2019 season, it was his second career win. And in this moment Charles Leclerc is already in Ascari Chicane and he is aiming for seventh career triumph. Tifosi can feel it, friends, there is only one last turn in front of Charles Leclerc, who is heading for – dare I say – surprising triump on home soil. Almost unblievable stuff and in a moment it will be reality, the Monegasque Prince is conquering Monza. Italian Monza was a witness of a magical performance.
ŠE: McLaren absolutely and totally messed up, Piastri and Norris will have sour faces on the podium but all the attention and ovations will be dedicated to this man, Charles Leclerc wins second Grand Prix in 2024 season, after Monaco, it is the second sweetest victory on home soil and tifosi clap, marvel and it will surely come to tears of joy as well. I am looking at Pepa [Josef Král, also a Ferrari driver].
JK: (laughter) The tear almost slipped off but hats off to Charles because this was legitimately his race, his achievement, what he showed – and i reminded that many times – that we need to wait till the end of the race, that Ferrari might go for this surprising strategy and they can take it away from everybody, but really hats off to Charles at how he managed to drive it to the end. When we see the stands, I think they will all be gone. He made no mistake and he stole it from anyone else.
ŠE: And especially from McLaren. That will be one hell of a debriefing when they analyse this Grand Prix. How they threw away another win, I don’t know what number this year.
[Charles and Bryan and Fred team radio]
PF: No need to translate, right?
ŠE: Not that we know Italian.
JK: Charles thanked everyone, the whole team for conquering Monza, so he‘s absolutely delighted, of course that the upgrades worked, that’s an amazing work of the whole team.
PF: Didn’t Bedenetto Vigna speak for a while there, gratulating Leclerc on the radio?
ŠE: For sure there was Fred Vasseur.
PF: Uh huh.
ŠE: He congratulated Charles Leclerc even for the triumph in Monaco. Leclerc thanked the team in Maranello for the upgrade which worked fantastically. And it is a good message for the rest of the season, friends. Again we were saying that McLaren has it in the bag, all chill, but the nerves will be there. Piastri looked all set for the triumph, but they used what? Papaya rules and those led them from front row lock out to p2 and p3 today.
ŠE: Charles Leclerc, on totally destroyed 38 laps old hards brought once again the joy and love to Ferrari to Monza, to a circuit where in the last 15 years, Ferrari got only two triumphs and that is just Leclerc today and in 2019.
[Charles radio]
PF: And the appreciation of the strategy and how the car worked today very strong, grazie, grazie, grazie.
JK: I really like when you don’t have the car to be winning titles, you win Monaco and Monza.
ŠE: Not too bad.
JK: Not too bad, exactly. Maybe that was the strategy Leclerc appreaciated? No, of course he meant today’s strategy.
ŠE: But last week Alonso in an Aston said that in the nearest GPs, we will have to keep an eye out on Ferrari and we looked at each other like „what does he know again that we don’t“ and her eis reality, because I would like to stress this, Ferrari today won thanks to its speed, strategy and a fantastic driver, no safety car, no weather, no luck, Leclerc achieves another fantastic, fabulous triumph, he is defeating an almost undefeatable McLaren!
ŠE: In a special overall, race suit, with a special livery and carbon number sixteen.
[mechanics chant „un capitano“ at Charles]
ŠE: Charles has a nickname captain too? That’s not a very popular nickname in Slovakia [political joke]. Leclerc is receiving congratulations, from his brother as well of course.
ŠE: All weekend, he had to answer questions „what about next season? what about Lewis Hamilton?“ but this is how you get fans, this i show you get trust in your own team and look at [McLaren] at the sour faces. Well, thanks, guys.
PF: Well, today, papaya is just a faint shade of red.

so I knew I had to run right over here after I saw it and tell you all about it but in magic mike xxl there’s this scene where one of the male entertainers sings ‘heaven’ by bryan adams and does this whole mini-lap dance to it (it’s so hard to explain without the video evidence lmao just google ‘magic mike xxl heaven’ there’s like a million clips of it on YouTube) and like it had me TEARING UP and honestly I was getting such Clement Novalak vibes from it I’m not even kidding-
😭 i found it on yt and watched it... quite a few times..... and idk if there's anything that screams clem more than that? like??? the like silliness but also so romantic and cheesy and just.... i love the thought of clem being so utterly in love with his girl that he doesn't care who sees, he'd do anything to put a smile on her lips :((( her laughter is his favorite sound in the world and every second he gets to experience it is just <3<3<3<3
#forever envious of the person who gets to witness clement novalak serenading them#oh what i would give to be in his arms as he stares all lovingly into them and sings me a little song#:((((( this is the sweetest thing ever#asks!#tasia <3

Release: July 28, 1992
Lyrics:
You came in
That's what my little heart was looking for
Laughter in the rain
Feeling like a fool in love again
The laughter came
When the tears stopped falling
Now all I do is just call your name
(When I say lover)
You walked in and my heart discovered
That my life would never be the same
Oh, you are my destiny
You are my one and only
You gave back joy to me
When my whole world was lonely
Angel in disguise
With your power of love
You just hypnotize
I just love the magic of your spell
How much joy we'll have together
Only time will tell
Every day, every night
Oh, I know it's so right
When I see your face
Only time's gonna tell
But I know you so well
Girl, my love's for real
Songwriter:
From the first time that I saw you
I know it was forever
This mighty love between us
Will keep us together
You're the girl God sent from heaven
I'm so glad I found you
Forever, forever, forever, forever, forever, forever
I'm so glad to be around you
You are my destiny
You are my one and only
You gave back joy to me
When my whole world was lonely
It's alright, it's alright
Do it again
It's alright, it's alright
Don't let this love end
It's alright, it's alright
Do it again
It's alright, it's alright
Don't let this love end
Brenda Harvey-Richie / Lionel Richie
SongFacts:
"My Destiny" is a song by American singer and songwriter Lionel Richie. It was released on July 28, 1992 as the second single from his first compilation album Back to Front (1992) by Motown Records. It was written by Richie and produced by him and Stewart Levine. The song had some success and even made it to the top of the Dutch singles top 100 and reached number two on the Dutch top 40. It also appeared on Richie's best albums, Truly: The Love Songs and The Definitive Collection.
AllMusic's Bryan Buss described the song as "classic, mellow Richie." J.D. Considine noted the "restrained vocals and subtle fatback groove". Larry Flick of Billboard wrote, "Brisk pop/R&B instrumentation, a la Simply Red, unleashes his most relaxed and sultry vocals in years." The familiarity of the chorus will help win friends at the Urban, Top 40 and AC levels. Far more satisfying than the previous “Do It To Me”. Fell and Rufer from the Gavin Report commented: "This fresh Richie track from his retrospective album Back to Front is a love song with a brilliant beat and is sure to be a crowd favorite."

One by one, each family member went to comfort Spring, speak any words to her as if it would be their last.
Terrance couldn't understand. Why were they just ACCEPTING THAT? WHY NOT HELP HER? Rage and desperation began to prickle at his insides. Help her. HELP HER.
Finally it was his turn, it was just Terrance and Spring inside the hut.
Looking upon her face, Terry felt sick to his own stomach and he brushed his fingers over her forehead, going to pet the little head of curly hair softly and comfortingly.
"...This can't be happening..." He muttered with tears in his eyes, shaking his head. "I won't let it happen Spring... I... I promised you... i said you'd grow up big and strong and...."
He wiped his tears and sniffled, staring down at his hands and frowning in determination.
"I'm going to fix it."
Slowly, he began to let the magic flow through his body, every inch of his being soaked up his soul and his life force, his horns glowed, his eyes lit up all the way to his hands where he attempted to push that very same life back into his little sister.
It wasn't enough, more. MORE.
It HURT the more he pushed, he felt dizzy, his own life ebbing away dangerously as he pushed more into Spring. The hut began to grow dark and dull, the flowers hanging by the door withered and died as everything around him began to be sucked clear of life.
"What in-?!?" It was at that moment, Terrance's father came into the hut, eyes wide at what he could see happening before him and in a swift motion, he lauched forward, hooking his arms under Terry's to drag him away, breaking the connection, stopping the magic.
"STOP! STOP IT! LET ME GO! I WAS SO CLOSE! SHE WAS GETTING BETTER!!!-"
"STOP TERRANCE! STOP!"
"YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND! I can DO IT! I can DO IT! I CAN HEAL HER! JUST LET ME!-"
"Not at the extent of your OWN LIFE!" Bryan cried out, tightening his hold on his struggling son and Terrance began to weaken in his arms, sniffling. "Is this what she would want?! IS IT? Think of your mother, Terrance! She can't lose you too!"
The sheep's bottom lip wobbled as he went completely limp in his father's arms, sobbing and crying as Bryan finally let go, letting Terry flop to the ground and heave heavily with tears.
"... Terrance..." A hand went to try and comfort him.
But before he could, the young ram bolted out of the hut and ran off into the fields...
