one of the comments on the "tag all batcest as mature/explicit" was basically "I agree, the filtering feature on AO3 isn't the most intuitive" which is just patently untrue and actually got me kind of heated. It's just not difficult to figure out that the "exclude" feature excludes those tags from the search results. Also, there's a feature right on the filtering bar that explains how to use it. It is literally so easy to learn how to use it and if you haven't then that's just willful ignorance

There’s actually several of us discussing this topic in the server right now. We mostly seem to agree that that OP is being ridiculous. The filtering/tag system on AO3 is fairly comprehensive and easy to use. There’s even a lovely feature for excluding tags. I, for one, am not going to tag my fics “batcest” when they’re already tagged to hell and back with appropriate tags, including incest when world appropriate. 

Additionally, if the fic deserves a G rating, it gets a G rating, regardless if it’s BruJay or JayDick or SladeJay or Gen. 

If you’re old enough to be on the internet on your own, if you’re old enough to be on AO3 or Tumblr, you’re old enough to curate your own experience. To not know how to tag and use tags and blacklisting and filtering etc to exclude or include the things you want to or do not want to see is negligence on your part.

 As a content creator, I have a responsibility to tag appropriately. Which I do. As a content consumer, you have a responsibility to pass by what you do not want to see and to not regulate my creation.
