We received this video this morning, and it absolutely broke our hearts. To see a dog this terrified, and in such bad shape, we can only imagine the hell that she has lived through. She was given the name Kimmi by the shelter, and we were asked if we could help her and pull her to safety. Kimmi is suffering terribly from a skin condition called demodex mange, and she is a bloody scabby mess. She showed up on someones property late last night, and animal control was called out to get her. Her condition is horrifying and it took some time for her to get in this bad of shape. She is absolutely terrified of people, and she " gator rolled" when the officers leashed her to get her to the truck. For those of you who are not familiar with this term, it is when a dog is so scared and not familiar with being leashed, that they roll around like an alligator on the floor, which usually indicates that they have no experience on a leash. Someone did a number to Kimmi, both physically and emotionally. We are left to pick up the pieces, and take this shell of a dog, and make her whole again. We know that this will not be an easy road, but we are up for the challenge. Kimmi has been failed miserably by people, we will show her that not all people are monsters. Kimmi needs to have her medical needs addressed right away, and she will go directly to our partner vet to start this recovery process. She will most likely need time to trust, and training to build her confidence back up. All of this will be costly, and we can really use your help.
