I'm gonna go with a small fluffy ask. Tony Stark wearing pink bunny slippers. And why not holding a stuffed animals as warm bottle (*whispers* I have a fox and a racoon). I mean... Isn't it fucking adorable, cute and soft? Now, if you have to put in a relationship, maybe some winterironwidow ? Or ironwidow brotp, winteriron... well, you know me 8D. The thing is, when Bucky bought the slippers, he didn't really consider that they're bright pink, have huge, cartoonish eyes painted on and little, flappy bunny ears.

He just... thought they looked soft. And they are.

(They're so soft, Bucky spends twenty minutes just standing in the middle of the store, petting the bunny ears. And when an attendant comes up to him and hesitantly asks if he needs help, Bucky just blurts out "I take them" and that's that.)

And look, it's not that Bucky didn't want to keep them because the slippers are the softest thing he's ever touched and he loves them. He'd totally keep them. But he's been out shopping for a reason and that reason was Tony.

Tony whom Bucky needs to get a Secret Santa gift for. Tony who has pretty much everything and can buy even more.

Tony who deserves soft things.

So Bucky gave him the slippers. (The were the wrong size for him to wear anyway.) And he didn't realize how they would look to others until everyone opened their present and Clint cracked up so hard, he almost fell off the chair.

(Until Natasha stretched and accidentally kicked him out of it.)

And well.

It was too late to take them back so Bucky didn't. He just... didn't look Tony in the eye and pretty much got out of the common room as fast as possible. Without making Steve worry, that is.

With any luck, Tony would put the slippers away on some forgotten shelf and no one would ever mention them again. Then maybe the urge to bang his head against the wall -- or steal the slippers back -- would fade.

It hasn't so far but Bucky's trying to adopt a more optimistic outlook on life.

And if the eggs he's serving Clint are ice cold, that's certainly a coincidence. Bucky would never be that petty.

It's very gratifying to watch him choke on the first bite though.

Although when Bucky turns around, he realizes that may have less to do with the eggs and more to do with Tony. Who has just strolled into the common area, dressed in a greasy t-shirt, sweatpants and the pink, fluffy bunny slippers, looking utterly unconcerned by his team mate's gasps for air.

"You're wearing them?" Bucky doesn't mean to ask -- doesn't mean to make it sound like an accusation -- but the words don't ask for permission. They just... streamroll right ahead.

"Yes?" Tony blinks up at him, a little confused. "They're comfortable and pretty. Why wouldn't I? And before you ask, Barton: no, I don't share."

The Chain (Quill and Rocket brotp fanfic)

A/N: I DO NOT own “Guardians of the Galaxy” - Stan Lee/Marvel and James Gunn do! Please enjoy my first ever GOTG fan-fiction! I love all of those precious dorks, but this work is about Rocket and Quill. Enjoy!

Important: there’s many parts where it’s italicized to show Rocket’s thoughts/flashbacks (so you don’t get confused, re-watch Vol. 2 because I’ll be transitioning between the scene that Quill and the others leave to go to Ego’s planet (where he and Rocket bicker some more) and the scene that Rocket is forced to leave him and Yondu on Ego.

Summary: Rocket recalls the time he ordered Kraglin and Drax to start the engine, even at the cost of leaving Peter and Yondu on Ego, at the Ravengers’ funeral for Yondu. Peter is there to remind him that they’re still a team.

PART I

“Is Quill back?”

Rocket stared at the scene in front of them all - Yondu’s old Ravenger buddies coming to mourn the death, but celebrate the life of their friend. 

‘Stupid blue idiot. . . ‘ Rocket thought sadly.

“ROCKET! WHERE’S QUILL?!”

There was a time that he wouldn’t have cared about that stupid guy, there was a time that he wouldn’t think twice about leaving Peter and the rest of the Guardians on a destroying planet - there was a time when he would have saved his own skin. But Rocket isn’t that guy anymore, no matter how much he likes to think he is. And it may have just taken an argument with Quill over batteries, a deep to Terran talk with Yondu, the destruction of Quill’s father and death of Yondu to make him see that. 

“WHERE’S QUILL?!” 

“He didn’t chase them away,” Rocket mumbled, doing everything he could to choke back the lump forming in his throat and the tears building in his eyes. “Even though he yelled at them.” 

“Hope daddy isn’t as big of a dick as you are, orphan boy.” 

“And was always mean. . .”

“What is your goal here? To get everybody to hate you?”

“And stole batteries he didn’t need.”

“. . . Cause it’s working.”

When Peter said that to him before he left with Ego and the others, though Rocket bottled it as he did with all the rest of his pain, those words struck him. He didn’t want to lose these guys - they were the only friends he had. No, they are his family. But refusing to show how he felt even with only Groot and Nebula around, he continued to fix the Milano. And yet here they are, standing together and watching the Ravengers show their respect for their fallen leader, their friend. 

“Well, of course not,” Peter said finally. Rockets ears perked up for a split second, relief taking over his regret. Peter understood. Even though Rocket didn’t say it fully, Peter knew what he was trying to say and for that, Rocket was grateful. 

With Quill’s music playing over the speakers, the firework show in front of them for Yondu, and the unspoken forgiveness, Rocket let those bottled emotions break. With his friends behind him, all supporting, all understanding, all there for each other, Rocket understood. He knew what Yondu meant when he said “The only family I ever had.” No way was he going to do something to threaten their family ever again. With all this in mind, tears freely fell from his glossy red eyes.

“He said ‘Welcome to the frickin’ Guardians of the galaxy.’” 

PART II

“What thing of mine are you taking apart this time?” Peter entered the space Rocket was in, in the Milano (which they just retrieved from Berhert). 

“Just some useless junk. Nothin’ from that bin there, so don’t worry,” Rocket mumbled, focused on his project, but he pointed to the drawer that Quill used to keep the gift that his mom gave to him before she died.

“Right. . . “

“Hey-” Rocket began, but quickly stopped and clinked away at the machinery in his hands again.

“. . . Yeah?” Peter said after a moment of Rocket not saying anything.

“About the other day, on Sovereign, and Berhert. . . I was a dick,” He stammered, and stopped working.

Quill realized what Rocket was doing here, he was saying something he’s not used to saying. He’s taking a big step. 

“Meh, so was I,” Quill said, lifting Rocket’s spirits in an unspoken way. A way that lifted the blame and guilt off both their shoulders and threw it away. “Just don’t steal any more batteries, ‘mkay?”

Rocket chuckled, “I’ll try to resist.”

“Oh, and one other thing.”

“Hm?”

“Quit trying to take over piloting while I’m flying,” He lightly and teasingly elbowed Rocket when he squatted down next to him.

“As long as you’re not being an idiot.”

“Deal. Same goes for you,” Quill stood up and Rocket followed his lead.

“Oh, and Quill?” Rocket said as they started walking towards the front of the ship.

“Uh-huh?”

“Next time an unhinged, maniac celestial bastard waltzes over to us, says he’s your daddy, and asks you to go with him to his planet, don’t.”

“I can do that,” He chuckled. If Rocket had said a comment like that a few days ago, a bickering battle would have occurred between the two, but after what they just went through, he decided to let it slide. Instead, he clicked on “Southern Nights” on their way to the others in the front, knowing it would keep Rocket’s spirits high for the time being.

Clintasha. I just don't ever see it for them. I mean, I can fully get that they might have fucked, either as a trust thing or because they didn't have anyone else or as a post-mission adrenaline thing and they absolutely have unbreakable bond of love but can't see them in a relationship romantically. I don't read anything that ships them.

Phillinda. I know, this is sounding like 'no ship but Phlint!' but even that aside I just don't buy them as having any chemistry? They just feel like real deep almost soulmate buddies and I love their banter but sexually I don't feel any sizzle for them. Could just be my Phlint specs though, I don't ship Phil with anyone but Clint!

As I said before Dagur/Eret from HTTYD really floats my boat, they're just two big handsome idiots and I think their personalities compliment each other so well.

Aside from there I guess it's not really obscure but I have a total soft spot for Brutasha. I totally fell for their chemistry in Avengers and AoU (and in Ragnarok come to that) and don't buy into the rhetoric that the writers used Nat as a 'reward' for Bruce in some way. I absolutely could see why she would like Bruce and admire him and I really think Infinity War and Endgame should have acknowledged it at least. No, actually I think they should have been allowed to be happy. Nat gives orders to a blue robot lady and talking racoon, she would totally have been down for snuggling up with Professor Green. And he clearly still had feelings for her, I hate that it was just abandoned. Thank god fic is there to do the job.

favorite thing about them: I really like how hes written both as a Cool Mentor Dude AND just a Cool Regular dude. Hes a good teacher but hes never as untouchable/unapproachable as some other Jedi mentors, hes just a guy! I think ive talked about how well rebels handles ptsd in the past, and Kanan is a really good example of someone who was forced to grow up too fast and only recently started to feel safe enough to process that. Its really obvious that hes just copying Depa sometimes. Also hes super fun to bully a little
