Hey hey! For the character meme Gideon!
hello thanks for the ask :)
favorite thing about them i love how she speaks. someone said once that everything she says is like the wrong option in a video game dialogue choice list. all of tamsyn's characters have incredible dialogue but gideon is so goddamn funny especially. like it wraps around from being cringe to being funny again. her narration is excellent.
least favorite thing about them i'm gonna say what i said for harrow, everything about her makes sense for her character and her role in the story.
favorite line given the first answer here you can imagine this is extremely difficult for me. however. i'm going to go with a decidedly unfunny one from chapter 25 of ntn because it makes me feel insane.
Nona had never seen anyone so sad in her whole short life. It made her nearly afraid to die. “Nobody locks me up anywhere,” said Kiriona.
she says!!! while locked in her corpse by her dad!! after being locked in harrow's brain for a year by harrow!! after being locked in drearburh for 18 years by the ninth!! ohhhhhhh my god
brOTP sorry i'm going with gideon and ianthe because they hate each other and i just find that endlessly amusing
OTP griddlehark sweep
nOTP don't really have one, just don't like when she's shipped with men
random headcanon after she goes to canaan house she starts getting freckles because it's her first time in sunlight
unpopular opinion idk i don't really see people talking about this much but like she's an asshole. she has a mean-spirited streak. and like yeah i guess if your opponent in the cartoonishly evil contest is harrow it's gonna make gideon look like a much better person but like. idk everyone was shocked by her being a dick in ntn but it's not really that different from how she was before?
also i really really hate the fandom himboification of her turning her into a one-dimensional horny fuckboi vehicle for harrow to have 36 orgasms or whatever. or the opposite where they make her a loyal idiot golden retriever. butches often have personalities that are not either of these things, actually!
song i associate with them it is 100% absolutely from hell with love and sweet true lies, both by beast in black. not only do they sound like songs i think gideon would listen to, like, the lyrics are so.
Killed my light To serve your delight Now see me ripped apart Ripped apart
Another voiceless cry Another hopeless try I wish you'd open your wings and take me inside From hell with love I write Confess my passion crime Cause to my heart, soul and mind, you are kryptonite Oh babe
like cmon.
Baby, baby tell me more of your lies Say you want me for a lifetime I believe you even when I know it's a lie Love's so blind Sweet true lies
AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!! thank you @oceanwrath for introducing me to these songs with your tlt art.
favorite picture of them again i can't choose just one there's so much good art in this fandom but my favorites are this FUCKING STUNNING kiriona piece by @nil-elk and this amazing one by @battletailors and this incredible piece by @notedchampagne and this one by @may12324 and this one by oceanwrath and listen ok i just really really like gideon nav 😭
thanks for the ask!

itama for the character ask?
Meme time:
favorite thing about them
He's a baby boy and original Uchiha hater uwu
least favorite thing about them
Rare boy!
favorite line
Baby thirsts for blood!!!!!
brOTP
Idk why but I enjoy imagining him with Kagami? Idk why. Is it the cute vibes with hidden murderous beast inside? Maybe?? They would fit nice together... Izuna is also more bro material?
OTP
Do I even have to explain myself. This ship. Especially Itama and the guy in the middle that is practically my semi-OC? Yeah. But then I think about Itama in any modern AU and his five sugar daddies and I have brainrots. Other scenarios also follow but we need some goddamn proper warnings for those.
I also have a certain fondness for ButsuIta (youngest son spoiled by strict dad? Yesssss), MadaIta (I don't even remember why) and Hashirama (can't escape incest demons).
nOTP
I mean, considering what I do ship already do I even have nOTPs for that guy.
random headcanon
I like to think he was Butsuma's favourite son. Also, I like to think he had more of capabilities of a battle medic, would probs have a skillset similar to Tsunade and Kabuto if he lived any longer :D Also, magpies. We all know why.
Oh also vitiligo propaganda.
unpopular opinion
Does this babie even have any unpopular takes. Look at me, I am the unpopular take. I want terrible, terrible things to happen to him, I'm sorry but that boya awakens my worst instincts.
song i associate with them
Patterns by the Band of Skulls, Silent Spring by Massive Attack, Sugarbread by Soap&Skin (VERY MUCH THIS ONE), A Folded Note by Disparition, BLVCK SATIN (DELETED SIN RMX) by BLVCK CEILING.
favorite picture of them
he is very smol, you can probs put him in a pocket (but also man when you look at it those trees are bloody massive like damn
#answers#anon#anonymous#im sorry im horrible in regards to him#i was at exactly 1.25% of unhinged in this ask#characters meme

Here is Ashlyn’s! :)
Favorite thing about them: So this might sound a little like Kourtney’s, but I promise I see them as two very distinct characters. I really love Ashlyn’s ability to unapologetically be herself. She knows herself inside and out and is so willing to go the extra mile if it is for the sake of authenticity. Integrity seems to be a common theme for her throughout the seasons. Kourtney is more about self-discovery whereas Ashlyn is more about knowing who she is already and not letting outside sources shock that system.
Least favorite thing about them: I know a lot of people were “bugged” by her season 3 but honestly she didn’t really bother me. The only time I remember getting frustrated with her was in s2 when Gina was obviously going through something and she had that line “it’s not that serious”. I have heard other people say this before and it is so invalidating. Nothing irks me more than someone thinking because they’re fine, everyone else should be too. Even writing about it now gets me heated 😂
Favorite line(s):
“I sort of forgot the documentary was even coming out *cue smile*”
When she mouths “milking?”
“I got the part! I got Belle! I’m Belle!”
“I suppose you could say that my dating pool got a little bigger… and so did my heart”
“Oh. That’s why.”
“But I think it could be yours, Anna. And you deserve it.”
“But, you know, I’ve always been interested in psychology ever since losing my unborn twin. In prison. DURING A RECESSION”.
Miss Jenn: You’re giving me uncommon depth. Miss Darbus? Ashlyn: “I’m dying. I’m deceased. Yes.” (And then her parallel to this in 3x5)
OTP: equally Redlyn and Madlyn
nOTP: Ashlyn and Val
brOTP: Ashlyn and EJ
Something I expect from them season 4 (if applicable): I talked about this before, but I very much could see the show going in a “Ashlyn accepting herself/queerness” s4 type of vibe. I think she and Red could break up so she discovers herself, but Maddox takes that as Ashlyn wanting to get with her. So Ashlyn is like “I meant time for myself… play the field ya know” but the whole season ends up being Ashlyn not being good at playing the field and Maddox pining/always being there for her. So then the last episode we either get Madlyn endgame or Ashlyn accepting herself/pursuing single life and hinting towards a future of them as endgame.
Random Headcanon: When Ashlyn comes back from CSL, she tells Red that she’s queer and then they spend the majority of their time checking out boys and girls together (with Red’s uncanny lip reading)
Unpopular Opinion: I love Redlyn and Madlyn equally. I think they both could be good endgames and I would have been happy with the show going either way.
Song I associate with them: “Home” from Beauty and the Beast. I know it’s technically in the show, but I was listening to a Broadway version of it and all I could think of was Ashlyn Caswell. That performance could have won Emmy’s it was so well done. I sob in that scene every time (especially her just hugging Gina without any words, but those unspoken words were enough to redeem their relationship… TEARS)
Favorite picture of them: she’s literally so pretty how could I choose just one 🥹

Second round of the Character Ask Game: Carlos Ramon and Questions 1, 2, 5, 7, 10, 12, 13, 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, and 30.
First impression: Don't remember, but it was definitely positive.
2. When I think I truly started to like them: When I found out Carlos was a rock nerd (in the chapter books at least)
5. Definitely Carlos/DA.
7. His entire wetland speech in "Gets Swamped."
10. He's smart, he's funny, he's brave, and most importantly, kind.
12. Bisexual. That is all.
13. Definitely his friendship with Phoebe! They were my first ever BroTP. I also like Carlos's dynamic with Tim.
20. Weird headcanon: he likes collecting shiny trinkets like a crow does.
21. Carlos is definitely at his happiest when he's with his friends.
22. Lowest point: probably when he thought he was going to lose the swamp debate to Janet (and thus have the swamp destroyed).
25. Most OOC moment: when he (and the other kids) turned against Phoebe in "Butterfly and the Bog Beast," thanks to Janet. Carlos is part of the Phoebe Protection Squad. He would never turn against her.
26. Most in-character moments: One that comes to mind is when he worries about Mikey's safety inside the computer in "Gets Programmed." Another is when he admits D.A. was right about the asteroid in "Out of this World" (after previously not believing it). Carlos might be stubborn, but unlike SOMEONE (*cough* Janet *cough*) he does know how to swallow his pride.
30. Oh boy. How do I pick just one? Almost any Carlos scene is a funny one!

Character ask: The Frog Princess, Vasilisa the Wise
Tagged by @ariel-seagull-wings
Favorite Thing About Them: Her intelligence and skill. I love that she knows magic, that she's an excellent seamstress and baker too (in the versions where she makes the Tzar's shirt and bread herself, that is), and that she was cursed because someone (her father) was jealous of her cleverness. Fairy tale princesses often earn jealousy, but usually for their beauty, not their brains. She flouts the stereotype that fairy tale princesses are shallow and only valuable for their looks, and she flouts it with flying colors!
Also, I like seeing an animal transformation fairy tale where the heroine is the one transformed into an animal and the male hero is the one who's always human. More often the reverse is true (Beauty and the Beast, The Frog Prince, Snow White and Rose Red, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, etc.); it's refreshing to sometimes see a gender-flip of the usual "animal bridegroom" trope.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: The fact that in some versions, she has magical servants make the shirt and bake the bread that the Tzar commanded instead of doing it herself. That's cheating: the Tzar's order was that his son's wives each make him a shirt and bake him a loaf of bread, not their servants. Fortunately, there are other versions where she does it herself, and those are the versions I prefer.
Also, the fact that after being so active and wise in the first part of the story, she becomes just a silent damsel in distress after she becomes Koschei the Deathless's prisoner.
Three Things I Have in Common With Them:
*I'm intelligent, or at least I hope I am.
*I'm partly of Russian descent.
*I'm a decent dancer.
Three Things I Don’t Have in Common With Them:
*I don't know magic.
*Neither my looks nor my dancing ability would make ball guests stare in amazement.
*I have a good relationship with my father.
Favorite Line:
Her advice to Ivan when she urges him to go to sleep instead of worrying the night away:
The morning is wiser than the evening.
From the Let's Pretend radio adaptation "The Enchanted Frog":
The soul is the thing one tries to find When choosing a mate, keep this in mind. A lovely face may conceal a shrew, Or ugliness bring you blessings true.
BROTP: Her magical servants, in the versions where they exist. In crossover land, I could also see her becoming friends with the Grimms' Frog King, or any other fairy tale characters who go through an animal transformation.
OTP: Prince Ivan.
NOTP: Koschei the Deathless, her old father-in-law the Tzar, or her own father who cursed her.
Random Headcanon: She isn't completely inactive during the last part of the story – from inside Koschei's palace she casts a spell to give the power of speech to all the animals Ivan meets on his journey so they can help him.
Unpopular Opinion: She would have made an excellent Disney princess. It's too bad that they'll presumably never adapt the story because The Princess and the Frog already exists. Oh well... maybe someday they'll adapt the Finnish variation where she's transformed into a mouse instead of a frog.
Song I Associate With Them: None at the moment.
Favorite Picture of Them:
These illustrations showing her dancing and magically conjuring up swans (or doves) at the ball in her human form:
These illustrations of her in her frog form:
And this one showing her first meeting with Ivan as a frog, with the symbolic specter of her human form looming over the scene:

-
Olaf katten
With a tired sigh, Elsa crumbled the piece of paper in her hand and threw it into the bin near the table, where the rest of the paper balls were lying. She had been sitting at her kitchen table for over an hour writing ideas for her business, like Marshall and she had agreed to do; but so far, she had nothing worth sharing.
Sometimes she wondered whether people struggled so much to put their ideas into words, or if it was only her who had trouble with it. She guessed her lack of education could be an obstacle at times. But still, this time she felt there was something else stopping her. She had ideas about her business. Several ideas in fact. But the moment she wrote them down, she began to wonder if they were good enough, or if Marshmallow was going to like them. Her knowledge about businesses was limited and the last thing she wanted was to drag Marshall down with useless suggestions. Part of her suspected he was going to agree with whatever idiotic thing she came up — just for the sake of being nice. And that was the last thing they needed. For that very reason, she was putting extra effort in the way her ideas were worded.
She grabbed a blank piece of paper ready to start again when a knock on her door called her attention. Kristoff and Anna were coming to have dinner that evening, but she was surprised they had arrived so early.
When she opened the door, she was greatly surprised to see her mother standing on the other side. “Mum?” she asked, with a smile. “What are you doing here?”
“Can't a mother simply miss her daughter?” answered Gerda as she stepped into the house. “Why don't you visit me more often?”
Elsa smiled at her mother’s playful tone. Gerda had always enjoyed making Kristoff and her feel guilty for the silliest things, and they knew exactly when she was just trying to trick them. “You changed me for some boring dinner when I did,” Elsa said with a smirk, trying to guilt-trip her just the same. “Is dad with you?”
“No, he had to work. I took the bus.”
“The bus?” Elsa had lost count how many times Kristoff had asked their mother not to take the bus on her own. It was relatively safe, but the two of them didn’t like the idea of their mother walking the trail to the cottage alone. “You should've called me. I would have waited for you at the bus stop. You know the trail here isn't in the best condition.”
“Are you insinuating I can't walk on my own?” Gerda replied, annoyed.
“No, of course not.” Sadly, it was useless to tell her mother what to do, the more they insisted on taking care of her, the more defensive she’d get. Kai was easier to deal with in that sense.
“I may be getting older, but I'm completely independent, thank you very much.” Gerda handed her daughter the purse she had been carrying and walked to the kitchen, ignoring anything else Elsa had to say about the topic.
Elsa laughed at her mother’s childish behaviour and followed her. “You don't need to get offended.”
“I’m simply stating facts," she said matter-of-factly.
“Whatever you say…” There was no point in arguing with her. It was easier to let Kristoff deal with those things. It was a good thing her brother was going to show up later that day. “Kristoff's coming with Anna to have dinner, by the way.”
“I know,” said Gerda with a smile. “He told me to come and join you.”
“Then why didn't you travel with him?”
Gerda shrugged. “He said he was coming after work. I was bored at home and I wanted to spend some time with you.” She sat down at the table and looked around, noticing the mess on top of the table for the first time. “What were you doing, sweetheart? I'm not interrupting your studies, am I?”
“Not at all.” She knew Gerda didn’t mind the mess, but she began picking up everything she had lying around nonetheless. “I was writing down some ideas for next winter season.”
“That's wonderful!” she exclaimed with a clap of her hands. “Kristoff told me you'll give your business another chance.”
“Yes!” She loved the way Gerda always encouraged her to keep working on her own business. She had been the one who originally gave Elsa the idea when she moved to the mountain. “Marshall and I will try to work together.”
Gerda raised an eyebrow. “Do you mean your friend Marshall?”
She nodded and explained, “Westergaard kicked him out for no good reason and he had no idea what to do.”
By Gerda’s expresion, Elsa noticed she wasn’t surprised by what Westergaard had done. More than once Gerda had warned her about not getting involved with Marshall’s boss. She never liked the idea of her asking him for a job.
“That's terrible,” her mother commented as she helped Elsa pick some of her papers. From time to time, Gerda peeked at the ideas written in them. Elsa didn’t really mind; if she was honest, any help her mother — or anyone — was willing to give her was welcomed. What did call Elsa’s attention was the way her mother looked at some of her notes and then smiled at her. “I'd like to meet Marshmallow one day. You seem to really like him.”
“Maybe you already know him,” Elsa said, unaware of her mother’s teasing remark. “He's lived here his whole life. The cottage he lives in belonged to his grandfather.”
“What's his last name, again?”
Elsa was about to answer when a knock on the door interrupted her.
--
Marshall fidgeted in his place as he waited for the door to open. The box in his hands moved for the third time in the last minute and he let out an exasperated sigh. He was nervous and the little beast inside the box wasn’t helping.
The box moved again and he opened the lid just enough to look inside. “Please, behave,” he said tiredly. A small paw scratched his fingers playfully, running his patience thin. “I said behave. Why won't you listen to me?”
The wooden door in front of him opened suddenly, surprising him, and he put the lid back into place.
Elsa smiled broadly at him from the door and said, “speak of the devil.” She then noticed he was on his own and asked, “were you talking to yourself?”
His cheeks turned red as a beet and he cleared his throat, trying to buy himself some time. The last thing he needed was for Elsa to think he had lost his marbles. “No,” he said. “What was that about the devil?”
“My mother was just telling me she'd like to meet you.”
“Me?” He wasn’t even sure which mother she was talking about, but he thought it was best not to ask. He had already embarrassed himself enough, there was no need to start asking uncomfortable questions.
“Yes. I told her we'll be working together.” Opening the door widely, she invited him into the house. “Come in.”
He gripped the box in his hands tighter and entered the house. He was nervous enough about giving Elsa the gift as it was. Meeting her mother was something he was not ready to do. Something told him the woman was going to read right through him as easily as Anna had done, and that wasn’t good. He wasn’t mentally prepared to explain to Elsa the way he felt. “I was just passing by. I wouldn't like to interrupt–” he tried to excuse himself, but it was too late. Elsa had closed the door behind him.
“Don't be silly,” she said with a lovely smile and then disappeared into the kitchen. “Mum.” He heard her say. “Marshmallow is here.”
To his surprise, the woman who entered the room wasn’t Anna’s mother. So that meant the old woman standing in front of him was part of Elsa's adoptive family.
The woman seemed happy to see him there, so that helped Marshall relax. As far as he could tell, she looked like a sweet woman, someone he could easily get along with.
He wished he weren't holding the box so he could extend his hand and greet the woman properly, but he was not going to risk the little beast jumping out of the box and causing chaos. So, instead of extending his hand, he nodded his head and smiled at her.
“When I said I'd like to meet him,” said the woman as she turned to look at Elsa. “I didn't mean right this moment, Elsa.” She then laughed and turned to him. “Pleased to meet you, dear.”
Her silly joke helped him relax once again. "Pleased to meet you too, Mrs. Bjorgman.
"Bjorgman is my husband's name. Just call me Gerda."
Marshall nodded. He was pleased to know her mother wasn’t a serious nor structured person. It definitely made things easier for him. He looked at her again and realised her features looked familiar, but he couldn't point out where he knew her from.
“Would you like to join us?” asked Elsa, interrupting his train of thought.
“What?”
“I said we were about to have some tea. I could make some coffee for you if you'd like.”
The fact Elsa remembered he didn’t like tea made him ridiculously happy. “I– umm… no. It's okay. I just stopped by to–” He looked at the box in his hands and wondered if it was the right moment to give Elsa the gift. He could easily keep it for another day or two. “It doesn't really matter. It can wait.”
“Don't mind me, dear,” said Gerda, interrupting their conversation. “You two talk all you need. I'll be in the kitchen making tea.” Before Elsa or he could answer, she left them alone.
A cold hand touched his arm, and Marshall was drawn back to Elsa once again. “Are you okay?”
“Yes. Of course.” He was a nervous wreck, but he could handle it.
He tried to excuse himself and apologise for interrupting Elsa’s time with her family; but before he had the chance, the little pest inside the box decided to introduce itself. The lid of the box opened, falling to the floor, and the white head of a cat showed up. It meowed once in Marshall’s direction and then it realised Elsa was only a few steps away from them, so it stretched its paw to play with her.
“Whoa! Hey, you,” said Elsa, surprised to see the cat. “I wasn't expecting you.” She stretched her own hand and allowed the cat to grab her finger. “Did you adopt another cat? Won't the Snowgies get jealous?”
“No,” he said, quickly. “I mean yes. But not for me. It's– umm…” He wondered why it was so hard to explain himself. “It’s yours. If you want it, that is.”
She blinked a few times at him. “Mine?”
Marshall avoided Elsa’s confused look and admitted, “that's what I was doing here. You don't have to accept it. I know it's a lot of responsibility…”
Elsa chuckled and said, “hey, it's okay.” She then allowed the cat to smell her hand. “It's just– I don't know what to say. Why?”
“You’re giving me the chance to stay here at the mountain and work with you. I wanted to give you something you'd like as a thank you.” He held the box with one hand and picked the cat with the other. He put the empty box on the floor and held the cat correctly as he explained, “I remembered you saying you'd love a pet of your own. That’s why I adopted him — It's a he, by the way.”
Elsa stopped for a moment before reaching out and petting the cat in his arms. “He's lovely,” she finally said with a smile.
Her grin was sincere, and Marshall let a nervous sigh escape his lips. At least she seemed to like the gift. “Would you like to hold him?”
“Umm… I'm not sure how to–”
“He's really friendly. Here.” While he waited for her to pick the cat, he thought it was funny how nervous she looked, as if the cat was a fragile object she could break if she held it the wrong way.
“Hi,” said Elsa with a soft voice once the cat was in her arms. “What's your name, little fella?”
“He hasn’t got a name yet,” Marshall explained. “He's been living with me for a week, but I wanted you to name him.”
“He's too cute. I'll need to find a fitting name.”
The cat bit and licked her fingers and then tried to play with her hair, making Elsa laugh. Her smile became impossibly bigger and Marshall beamed back at her. “Do you like him?”
“Yes! Thank you so much, Marshmallow.” All the nervousness he had felt disappeared when he noticed her excitement.
“I've already taken him to the vet,” Marshall said as he got closer to them and began scratching the cat’s ears. The little pest — as he liked to call him — had caused so much trouble in his house the previous days, he found it strange to see him so calm in Elsa’s arms.
“Are you sure you don't want to stay?” asked Elsa, making him aware of the fact Elsa’s mother was still waiting for them in the kitchen. “We're having dinner later tonight.”
He knew she was trying to convince him to stay. She knew food was his weakness. But he wasn’t ready to share a family meal. Deep down he knew it was ridiculous to be nervous about meeting her family but he couldn't help it. “Maybe some other time. I really need to get going.”
“Okay…”
He smiled at Elsa once again before cupping the cat’s face and forcing it to look at him. “Don't be a pest and behave, alright?” he told the cat before he leaned down and gave the animal a kiss on top of its head.
Right at that moment, Gerda came into the room and exclaimed, “oh, would you look at that! Where did he come from?”
Choosing it was best to leave before Gerda started asking questions, Marshall bid his goodbyes. “Okay, I'd better go. Gerda,” he said, turning to the old woman in the room. “It was a pleasure to meet you.”
“You too, dear.”
He walked towards the door, but before he could leave Elsa stopped him.
“Come visit us one of these days,” she said with a tender smile that disarmed him completely.
“You can count on that.” He wasn’t going to admit at loud that he was hoping the cat could be another excuse for him to visit Elsa more often.
--
After the door closed behind the tall man, Gerda was surprised to see Elsa stay where she was, looking longingly at the wooden door with a smile on her face.
More than once Gerda had heard Kristoff and Anna talk about Elsa and Marshall’s relationship, but never had she imagined Anna’s claims were so close to the truth. She even remembered taking sides with her son once, saying it was improbable Elsa felt something for the mountaineer. But now that she got to see them together, she wasn’t sure she had taken the right side. She had to admit she was curious to know the way her daughter truly felt about the man.
“Will you take care of his cat?” asked Gerda, unsure of what to say without sounding too nosy.
“No,” Elsa said, as she turned around to look at her mother. “He adopted it for me. Isn't he adorable?”
Gerda couldn’t tell if she was talking about the cat or her friend being adorable, but she thought it was best not to think too much about it. She was more surprised to see her daughter so excited about having a pet. She still remembered how nervous Elsa had been around Sven at the beginning, always fearing she might hurt the dog. “Are you up for it? You used to be apprehensive about pets.”
“I've got to admit I'm quite nervous,” Elsa said sincerely. “But Marshmallow knows I've wanted a cat for a long time. I have no excuse not to accept it now. And look at him, it’s hard to say no.”
Gerda chuckled as she looked at the cat in Elsa’s arms. It truly was hard to say no to a cat like him. Beautiful white fur covered his body, except for his paws and ears where the fur was a dark brown colour. He looked like a really friendly animal and the way he tried to play with everything around him made him even more adorable.
“Sven loves you,” said Gerda as she walked towards her daughter. “I don't see why this little guy wouldn't love you too. You shouldn’t be nervous.”
“Do you think he minds my cold hands?”
It was painful for Gerda to see Elsa so concerned about her powers, even when she had no reason to be. The cat seemed more interested in attacking her sleeve than anything else. “He looks comfortable if you ask me. I wouldn’t say he minds.”
Luckily, Gerda's answer seemed to help Elsa control her insecurities. She made sure she was holding the cat correctly before asking, “Is tea ready?”
“Mmm?" Still distracted by the cat, Gerda took a moment to understand what Elsa was talking about. "Oh, yes, it is. I came to tell you that… It's a shame your friend couldn’t stay a little bit longer.”
"Marshmallow's like that. He comes and goes all the time. You'll get to talk to him some other time."
Noticing the cat was getting tired of being held, Elsa picked the box Marshall had brought with him and put a cushion inside to make a bed for the cat. It didn't take long for the animal to find the spot comfortable and fall asleep.
Once the new member of the family was comfortably sleeping in the box, Gerda went into the kitchen to serve their tea. Elsa followed her and finished picking up her things.
"I can't believe he took the trouble to find a cat for me," said Elsa after they had finished their tasks and they were sitting down, enjoying their tea.
Gerda noticed Elsa was still very much distracted by the gift Marshall had given her. And if she was honest, Gerda found the whole situation endearing.
When Kai and she had adopted Elsa, they knew things were going to be different for her. Her life wasn’t going to be exactly like Kristoff’s. But, even if at the beginning that had proved to be true. Little by little Elsa was developing the social skills she hadn’t had the chance to develop during her childhood.
Every year, Gerda noticed the way Elsa tried to improve and become part of society, as if her powers weren’t there. The young woman still struggled a lot with them, and every mistake she made was a huge step back in her learning process. However, that year Elsa had had the chance to spend her time with people outside the family and that had helped her grow a lot. Anna and Marshall had, in their own special way, helped her overcome her mistakes and learn from them in a way that was completely different. Both of them got her out of her comfort zone, forcing her to face new challenges, and learn how to interact in the real world.
Marshall, in particular, was Elsa’s best and worst companion. He was exactly what Elsa needed to overcome her fears and learn to deal with her powers and a healthy social life. The fact he didn’t know about her powers made it a bigger challenge; but still, she kept trying and learning with him.
All in all, Gerda was happy Elsa had found a friend outside the family. The only thing she worried about was how he was going to react the day Elsa finally decided to come clean about who she was and what she could do. That made the whole situation worrisome, especially if Elsa was developing feelings for her friend without noticing.
The last thing Gerda wanted was to ask inappropriate questions about her daughter’s life, Elsa was an independent adult after all; but if she could spare her daughter future pain and heartache by doing so, then she was willing to do it.
“May I ask you something, dear…” Gerda said, cautiously.
Elsa chuckled, surprised Gerda was asking for permission when she usually just said whatever was in her mind. “Sure. Anything.”
“Do you love him?”
Elsa stopped for a moment to think about her answer. “Not right now. But I'm sure I'll love him soon enough. He's perfect, don't you think?”
Gerda gaped at her daughter’s answer. Never, in a million years, she’d have expected Elsa to be so straight forward about her feelings.
“What?” asked Elsa, not understanding her mother’s astonishment.
“I wasn't expecting such an honest answer.”
“What?” repeated Elsa.
“What are you talking about?” Gerda said, hoping they were talking about the same thing.
“The cat.” Elsa looked at her mother and laughed. “What are you talking about?”
If Elsa hadn’t been her daughter, Gerda was sure she would have thrown something at her. Only Elsa could think she was asking about her feelings for a cat. “I was clearly asking about Marshall.”
“Oh…” exclaimed Elsa when she realised what her mother had been asking. “No! I mean, it's not that I don't– But he's not–” she struggled to explain herself. “Stop asking weird questions.”
Gerda’s frustration disappeared in an instant when she noticed Elsa's embarrassment. She didn’t want to make fun of her, but she had to laugh at Elsa’s mortified expression. “It's a completely normal question, dear,” Gerda explained in between chuckles.
“Why do you ask?” Elsa asked, trying to avoid the original question.
“You used to call him almost every day when you were living with your brother. You seem genuinely happy whenever he's around. Not to mention you tried to convince Anna and me you weren't even friends, when it is clear you spend a lot of time together…”
“That has nothing to do with-”
“I'm starting to think Anna may have been right all those months ago," Gerda continued with a smirk. "Maybe you don't consider him your friend because you wish for him to be more than that.” Gerda knew she was putting Elsa in an uncomfortable situation, but sometimes that was exactly what she needed to understand things around her.
“You're being ridiculous.” Elsa didn’t look at her mother, showing how embarrassing the conversation was for her. "I do consider him my friend. I wasn’t sure he considered me his at the time, that's all.”
“Are you sure you don’t feel something for him?” Noticing her daughter’s unamused expression, she clarified, “I’m not trying to make you uncomfortable, Elsa. I’m just asking…”
Still not meeting her gaze, Elsa said, “You know I don't date.”
Gerda smiled tenderly at her. “Dating and having feelings for someone are two different things.”
“You and Anna need to stop spending time together,” she murmured.
Gerda tried to cover the smile that drew on her face. "You haven't answered my question, dear.
"There's nothing between Marshall and me."
Maybe she was reading too much into it, but Elsa's avoidance was in itself a confirmation of some sort. Maybe it was too soon for Elsa to realise, but there was something there.
Of course, there existed the possibility Gerda was mistaken and Elsa only felt admiration or respect for her friend, but it was best for her to keep an eye open. Especially if Elsa ever decided to tell her friend about her powers.
Regardless, Gerda thought it was fun to push the conversation a little bit further. "That wasn't the question."
Elsa let an exasperated sigh out, but before she could answer, a scream coming from the living room stopped her.
--
One of the things Kristoff loved the most about his girlfriend was her energy. The girl could spend the whole day studying or working, and she still had enough energy left in the evening to do something fun or entertaining. It was something he had always admired. But there were days when he felt Anna's overenthusiasm was too much, even for him. That evening in particular, was one of those days.
"Can you please slow down?" asked Kristoff as he tried to catch up with Anna, who kept walking in front of him at a fast pace.
"I can't," she said, turning around to look at him. "I'm too excited!"
"I know you're excited about the letter and whatever it is your mother sent Elsa." Anna had talked about a special gift on their way to the mountain and he knew she couldn't wait to give it to Elsa; but still, there was no need to walk the trail at such speed. "But we'll get there eventually. Slow down."
"Stop being so dramatic," complained Anna. "You can easily walk faster than me."
"You haven't been moving ice bags all day."
Anna stopped just enough for Kristoff to catch up with her, and then began walking at a fast pace once again. "You're an old man trapped in a young man's body."
"A handsome man's body."
She rolled her eyes at him. "Hurry up!"
When they got to Elsa's cottage, Anna climbed the steps two at a time and went straight to the door, not stopping to knock. Kristoff tried to stop and warn her about entering the house unannounced. "Knock on the door, Anna. The last few times I entered her house without knocking she almost killed me."
She shrugged, not giving it much thought. "She knows we are coming."
"Fine. Don't listen to me, but don't–" Before he finished his idea, Anna entered the house ignoring him altogether. "Why do I even bother?" Kristoff wondered out loud.
Kristoff got to the door, but stopped when he noticed Sven smelling the front steps. Something was definitely calling the dog’s attention. Probably a squirrel or something, Kristoff thought to himself as he returned where Sven had stopped. He pulled from his collar to take him into the house. The last thing he needed was for Sven to get lost, trying to chase wild animals in the forest.
Putting up some resistance, Sven didn't obbey Kristoff and tried to continue smelling the front steps and everything around them.
"Sven, what's gotten into you? Come on."
It took a few tries for Kristoff to finally get Sven to move and get into the house. When he did enter, he thought it was strange to find Anna standing by the door.
"What are you doing here? I thought you were in a hurry."
Anna didn't answer. Instead, she put her hand on top of his arm to call his attention and pointed towards a box in the living room.
"What?" he asked, not understanding what he was supposed to look at.
"That box just moved."
"Don't be ridic–" he tried to say, but the box Anna was pointing at moved at that exact same time. "What the hell is in there?"
"Do you think it's a rat?" Anna whispered. "Ugh! Do something!"
"It must be…" Kristoff was glad he was still holding Sven. He knew his dog was going to run straight to the rat as soon as he noticed its presence, and that would make catching the rat even more difficult.
He looked around and tried to find something heavy enough he could use to kill the rat, or at least knock it out.
The box moved once again, falling to the floor, startling them both. "Grab the box," he instructed Anna as he walked to the fireplace to grab a log.
"I don't want to!"
"Just do it. We can't let it escape."
Anna walked to the box carefully, trying her best not to startle the animal inside. When she got close enough, she jumped over it and held the box against the ground. She could feel the animal moving inside, and shivers ran down her spine.
"Ew! It's still inside!" she cried in disgust.
"Just held it there!" Kristoff yelled back as he tried to hold Sven back.
At that moment, Elsa and Gerda entered the living room in a hurry.
"What the hell is going on?!" asked Elsa, looking at Kristoff angrily. Kristoff knew he was a dead man for entering the cottage unannounced once again.
"There's a giant rat in there!" He pointed to the box Anna was holding with disgust.
"Rat?"
He walked towards Anna and held his weapon high in the air. "I've got a log. Where is it?"
"No!" yelled, Elsa, standing in front of Kristoff. "That's not a rat! Give me that." She took the log from his hand to make sure he didn't do anything stupid. "Are you crazy? It's just a cat!"
Anna sighed, relaxing and letting the box go. "That's a relief."
The cat inside the box saw its opportunity the moment Anna let go of the box and escaped, running towards Elsa and Kristoff. To the animal's bad luck, Sven was in that direction too.
Elsa and Kristoff both realised what could happen if the cat got close to Sven, so they yelled at Sven not to do anything.
Their cries only startled the cat, making it run behind the couch. They had the opposite effect on Sven too, who started barking at the cat and pulling from Kristoff's hold.
"Kristoff, stop Sven, will you?" said Elsa while she tried to find the cat and put a stop to that chaos.
"I'm on it!"
"Sven, stop," said Anna in a serious tone, calming the dog in an instant.
Brother and sister looked at each other. Not once in all their years taking care of Sven had they been able to do something like that. "How did you do that?" asked Kristoff, baffled.
Anna ignored his question and walked where Elsa was. She had already found the cat and she held it in her arms. "Is the cat okay?"
"He's fine," she answered with a nod. "I think our screams frightened him more than Sven did."
Kristoff kneeled down and scratched Sven's ears while he continued to hold him. He wasn't barking nor trying to attack the cat, but he didn't want to risk it. "When did you adopt a cat?"
"Marshmallow gave it to me."
"He gave you one of his cats?" He couldn't believe Marshall had actually gotten rid of one of the Snowgies. More than once he had explained they were part of his family, and he wasn't planning on letting any of them go.
"He'd never separate the Snowgies," said Elsa. "He adopted this cat for me."
Kristoff looked at her and then at the cat in her arms. He knew Elsa liked cats, even more than dogs – with the exception of Sven, of course. But still, she had always felt insecure about adopting one herself. Marshall showing up with a cat put Elsa in a compromise for sure. "Pets are never a good gift."
"Unless you want one." Anna gave him a warning look that clearly said she wasn't going to let him ruin Elsa's happiness.
Ignoring the couple's silent conversation, Elsa explained why she wasn't surprised he had chosen a cat as a gift. "We've talked about pets before. He knows I love cats."
As if on cue, Sven whined at Elsa and she laughed at the poor animal. "No offense, Sven."
"What are you going to do with it?" Kristoff asked, still curious about the fact his sister was so comfortable with the animal in her arms.
"What do you mean what I'm going to do?" She held the cat closer, proving she didn't want to let him go. "I'm going to keep him."
Getting closer, Anna moved her fingers in the air for the cat to play with. "He's really cute," she said with a smile as she watched him try to catch her fingers. "What's his name?"
"I don't know. Marshmallow gave it to me half an hour ago. I haven't come up with a name yet."
"Maybe you could think of something you like and name him after that," suggested Gerda. It was clear the cat was going to stay, the sooner they found a fitting name, the better.
"You mean like… food?"
"Not everything needs to be about food, Kristoff." Anna rolled her eyes at her boyfriend. "Oh, oh!" she exclaimed, calling everyone's attention. "I've got the perfect name for him right here."
Elsa gave Kristoff a curious look, but this time he couldn't help her. He was as confused as she was.
"Ta-da!" Anna announced as she took a book out of her backpack.
From where Kristoff was standing he couldn't see the cover, but Elsa's incredulous expression told him it was something she recognised perfectly well. No matter how much he wanted to ask what the book was about, Elsa's watery eyes stopped him.
He watched his sister sit down on the couch, with the cat still in her arms, and look at Anna in disbelief. "Is that? How- Where did you get that?"
Anna showed her sister a huge smile and handed her the book. "A family friend owns a bookshop. She helped mum find it." She waited for Elsa to let the cat go and grab the book before she asked, "is this the book you loved so much as a kid?"
"Once upon a snowman…" Elsa said as she read the title of the book out loud. "I can't believe it."
Finally understanding which book it was, Kristoff looked where his mother was standing. Gerda seemed as surprised as he was, but she was a lot more confused as to why Anna was giving Elsa the book in the first place. That's when he realised she didn't know Elsa and her biological parents were writing to each other.
"So?" Anna asked, still waiting for the confirmation her mother had found the right book.
"Yes," answered Elsa, still not believing she was holding her favourite book once again. "This is it. This is the book. Anna this is– I don't know what to say." Finally taking her eyes away from the book, Elsa looked at Anna with the biggest smile Kristoff had ever seen and opened her arms to give Anna a hug.
Anna said as she sat by Elsa's side and accepted her hug.
"Thank you. This means a lot to me. More than you can imagine."
"You should be thanking mum and dad," said Anna, still hugging her sister. "He came up with the idea, and mum spent a long time in Helga's deposit looking for it…” She let go and looked inside her bag for a second time until she found two letters. “They send these letters too."
Kristoff smiled while he looked at Anna and Elsa talking about the book. It was nice to see his sister so happy. Yet, he couldn't help but feel bad for Gerda. He knew how many hours she had spent looking for that book. How many times she had asked him about it and what he remembered, so they could try to find it. Sadly, she'd never been able to find it.
Once again he looked where his mother was standing, hoping to meet her gaze, but to his consternation, she wasn’t in the room anymore. Deep down he knew there was a reason behind his mother’s sudden disappearance, and he felt a sinking feeling in his stomach.
“Elsa,” he said, calling his sister’s attention. “Can you take care of Sven for a moment? Maybe introduce him to your cat so they can be in the same room together?”
Surprised by the sudden request, Elsa handed Anna the book and walked to where he was standing to hold Sven by his collar. “Sure. I have to do it sooner or later,” Elsa agreed. “Would you help me Anna?”
“Of course!”
Kristoff nodded at his girlfriend and left the dog in Elsa’s hands. He knew Sven was going to listen to both of them.
--
It took a while for Anna and Elsa to get Sven and the cat to meet each other. Either the cat kept moving, trying to get away from the dog; or Sven tried to bite the cat’s tail.
Elsa had to keep a tight hold on Sven’s collar whenever Anna got close to them with the cat in her arms; but after several tries, both animals understood they had to trust the girls and stop resisting. They looked and sniffed at each other for some time, until the cat understood there was no real risk and decided to start playing with Sven’s tail.
Elsa was apprehensive about letting Sven go at first, but after a few minutes, she understood it was no longer in Sven’s plans to hurt the cat.
Cat and dog began to play, finally allowing the sisters to sit on the couch once again. As soon as Elsa was sitting, she picked up the book, a smile drawing on her face as soon as she did.
“You really are happy about the gift, aren’t you?” asked Anna.
She traced the cover with her finger, copying the shape of the snowman drawn on it. “I drew this snowman more times than I can count.”
“Have you still got the copy that you made?” She seemed eager to see Elsa’s work.
“Weselton took it from me.” Elsa looked down at the book in her hands, thinking about that day. He had entered her room and just ripped the old paper sheets off her hands. “I guess he must have thrown it away.”
Disgusted by what she was hearing, Anna asked, “Why would he do that?”
Elsa didn’t feel like sharing too much about it. That copy had been the only thing remotely similar to a toy she had had back then. “He didn't want me doing anything except using my powers whenever he told me to. Playing with a piece of paper reminded him too much of the fact I was a kid, I guess.”
Anna tightened her fist until it turned white. “That bastard.”
Elsa looked at Anna and offered a sad smile. The last thing she wanted was for Anna to make a fuss about something that had happened over twelve years before. “There’s no point in getting mad about it now.”
Anna found her gaze and opened her mouth to offer some comforting words, but Elsa stopped her. “Tell Agdar and Idunn I really like the gift.”
“I will…”
Elsa knew Anna was still worried about what she had shared with her, so she tried to change the topic of conversation. “You said you had the perfect name for the cat… What did you mean by that?”
“Oh, yeah! I almost forgot,” she answered, taking the book from Elsa’s hands. “Look, the name of the main character of the book is Olaf. Don’t you think it’s a fitting name?”
“Olaf?” said Elsa as she looked at the cat playing with Sven.
Anna opened the book and pointed to a picture in particular where the snowman from the story could be seen. “He kinda looks like him.”
“The cat?”
“Yes!” She got up and picked the cat with one arm as she showed the book with the other. “He's white and he's got brown paws. They look like Olaf’s arms, see?”
“I see what you mean…” said Elsa, looking at the cat and the picture from the book at the same time.
“Besides, he looks like he likes warm hugs too, don’t you Olaf?” Anna hugged the cat close to her face and he rubbed his head against hers.
“Olaf…” Elsa tried the name at loud. “I like it.”
“Wait,” said Anna, all of a sudden, giving Elsa the cat. “I've got an idea. I'm sure I had it here somewhere…” The girl rummaged in her backpack once again until she found a bright orange handkerchief. “I never use this. I’m sure it’ll suit him.”
She got close to Elsa and Olaf, and tied the piece of cloth around his neck. “See? It's perfect.”
The orange piece of cloth fit perfectly around his neck and it was a great contrast with his fur. “What do you think, Sven?” Elsa asked when she noticed the dog was getting jealous of all the attention Olaf was getting.
The dog barked a few times and tried to jump on Elsa, making her regret asking. “Okay, easy! Careful, Sven.”
--
A new chapter! And I didn’t take three months to update this time. Yay, me! I hope you guys enjoy this chapter even though nothing extraordinary happens. Well, Elsa gets a cat, which for her is a big deal. But you know what I mean… I had Olaf’s appearance planned for a really long time, but I kept postponing it for one reason or the other. I hope you like the role I gave Olaf in this story.
Anyway, let me know what you think of this chapter and the characters' interactions. I think it’s pretty obvious by now how crazy Marshall is about Elsa, but well, Elsa keeps living in another dimension and she doesn’t notice. Only time will tell if she realises or not. She’s got other things in her mind right now, we can’t blame her.
As always, I’m really grateful for all your amazing reviews and all the love this story gets. I read every single review and treasure them a lot. I’ll get back to all of you who took the time to leave a review, I promise. And those who leave reviews as guests, I’m sorry I can’t reply, but you rest assured I love your reviews too!

...So...about Lie Ren...
I never thought I would say this but…I want Lie Ren to be the one to save Oscar from Salem.
At this point, given a bit of evidence from the last episode, I’d like to think that Ren may be the one person capable of doing this. The thing is, he’ll have to do it on his own and will be forced to leave Jaune and Yang behind to go off on his own.
And not going to lie to you folks, I want Ren to abandon Yang and Jaune and go save Oscar by himself.
The show has already highlighted for me how much Jaune and Nora care about Oscar’s wellbeing. Nora was so relieved to see him return from the slums, that she was the first and only person to actually hug him when he arrived at the bar.
Mother-trucker, Jaune went to sleep still thinking about poor Oscar and worrying about his well-being, hitting my squiggly heart right in dat Shovel knight BROTP feels.
The only member of JNR who hasn’t proven how much he cares for Oscar is Ren. I’m not saying that Ren doesn’t care about Oscar. I’m just saying, there hasn’t been any major opportunity for him to display it like his other two comrades. Until…now.
Let me tell you why I think it’s perfectly possible for Ren to save Oscar. In the last episode, during the chase scene with George, I saw two pieces of evidence that highlighted Ren’s capability. Not only does his Tranquility semblance make him undetectable to the Grimm but as demonstrated in the last episode with George, his weapon upgrade enables him to latch onto any kind of flying Grimm and hitch a ride.
We also saw that in the last episode, Ren felt the most bothered about being forced to rescue Yang and Jaune at the expense of losing Oscar. We even see his line of vision focus on Oscar during the chase. From this moment, I got the impression that Ren was more than determined to save Oscar.
They had ONE chance to save Oscar and it was all foiled because Ren had to save Yang and Jaune. So this gives me an idea.
We’ve seen huntsmen hitch a ride on a Grimm before---particularly a Nevermore in the past. We saw both Ruby Rose do this during the V4 Ruby Character Short and Maria Calavera during V6CH7.
That being said, imagine if…Ren decides to abandon Yang and Jaune at the outpost in the middle of the night and go off on a solo mission; making his sworn goal to bring Oscar back. We then fast forward to early morning after where Ren is standing on a lonely cliff now overlooking the giant Monstra hovering above the storm clouds.
After traveling mostly on foot for most of the night, Ren’s next objective was to scope out a method of getting up to the flying whale, when he spots a flock of Grimm flying up into the storm. Perhaps they were Nevermore or more Kevins since they appear more common in Solitas.
This is when Ren gets the brainiac idea to use his weapon to hitch a ride on one of those Grimm, steering it in the direction he wants it to take him which is straight up to Monstra. And since his semblance makes him invisible to the Grimm, Ren is allowed to fly his captive Grimm exactly where he needed to go without the detection of other Grimm.
Once he’s landed safely inside of Monstra, Ren shoots the Grimm stead to kill it and quickly goes into stealth mode. Now in the belly of the beast, Ren uses his skills. Perhaps this may even force Ren to utilize the aspect of his semblance that’s been teased from the last season.
I’d imagine that the inside of Monstra will be like a labyrinth to anyone entering. So what if…because of his semblance, Ren is able to “lock on” to Oscar’s aura with enough concentration and focus. And it’s through this newfound ability that Ren is able to hone in and find Oscar easily.
And from here, this is where the main escape begins. But overall, Ren is able to save Oscar on his own and the two are able to return back safely to the others.
I know this is just me mainly speculating here. I’ve had many folks come to me with the assumption of Oscar either being saved by Neo or of his own fruition.
And while both are good concepts, I think what this squiggly Pinehead wants to mainly see now hopefully is Ren being the one to save Oscar somehow.
After the negative way the show kind of painted him in the last episode, I want to see Ren do something absolutely amazing.
Speaking of, it may rant a bit right here---I was actually bothered that the accredited writer for this last episode--- Eddy Rivas had Ren snap at Jaune by using the info of him “cheating his way into Beacon Academy”. Not only was this uncalled for but...correct me if I’m wrong but if I recall, wasn’t Jaune’s “secret” something only two people knew back at Beacon?
Jaune told this info to Pyrhha Nikos and then it was overheard by Cardin Winchester who had been eavesdropping on their conversation on the room and later Cardin used this info to blackmail Jaune into being his slave during the Jaundice three-parter.
As far as I’m aware, there was never any further confirmation that Jaune also entrusted this info to Ren and Nora. If this was retconned in any other form of RWBY canon media (like the novels or the DC comics) please let me know because otherwise...this is an error??
Ren was not the teammate of his team who Jaune told his secret to in confidence. That was Pyrhha. Sure I can make the innocent assumption that Jaune probably told this to Ren and Nora afterwards offscreen however...this secret was such a personal thing to him that I figured only Pyrhha and Cardin knew since they were the only two confirmed to know in the canon. Ren was never confirmed to know according to the canon but I guess Double D needed Ren to know this detail otherwise this moment wouldn’t have worked. But I dunno. It felt off to me (like many things about this episode but I digress.
Please, if Lie Ren is to do one redeemable badass thing for this season outside of “brooding” and “pushing everyone away” like Yang implied (the big hypocrite), then please let him be the one man army who single-handedly braved the storm and fought against all odds to rescue his youngest teammate and friend from the depths of Monstra and return them both safely home.
If there is ONE person I want to see save Oscar now, it’s Ren. Let him do this noble thing and let him do it on his own.
I’m sorry. Call me nuttier than a nutcracker but at this point, Ren should honestly ditch Yang and Jaune and go off on his own to get Oscar. Nothing against Jaune and Yang is genuinely driving me up a wall right now with her characterization for this season but…I think what Ren will probably need to do right now is take a similar route as his female half---Nora.
In V8CH3, Nora said that she doesn’t know who she is without Ren. And it wouldn’t surprise me if Ren might feel the same way too. He’s never done anything on his own, outside of saving Nora back in Kunoyuri.
And since that fateful night, he’s always had Nora by his side. And ultimately the two of them gained more friends to love and care about. But I think what Ren needs right now is to move like Nora. Do something that only he can do.
And I think at the moment, the only person who may have a sliver of a chance to help Oscar is Ren. Yang and Jaune will only keep him back, sadly to say. While I understand that it will be a suicide mission for Ren to go get Oscar back on his own without backup. But nevertheless, is it wrong of me to say I don’t care.
I want to see this happen for Ren. I think proving himself and doing something noble on his own---something that he KNOWS he can do and manage successfully on his own without anyone holding him back or standing in his way to distract him from the main objective…I think that’s what Ren needs.
So many things have gone wrong for the teams. They need a win at the point and if Ren can provide that in the form of saving Oscar, it could work. But this is just me.

Dragon Colds & Rose Petals
Love Like Dragons AU
Bevie | Huma (implied) | Gildry | Mal & Audrey BROTP
—
Evie Grimhilde was a happily married woman. She had been for nearly three months now, and it was marital bliss. But there was a small part of her that was still a lonely, single, Dragon mom. So when Ben walked in on her that day, struggling to keep the human thermometer in Mal’s mouth to take her temperature, he laughed.
Mal, her best friend and a five year old Isle Dragon, had been sick for the past two days. Evie wasn’t sure what brought it on, as Audrey - Ben’s Aurorian Dragon - didn’t seem to have anything. And of course that small, single, lonely dragon mom part of her reared it’s head. What if Mal was terminally ill? What if she died? What if Evie would wake up tomorrow and her best friend wouldn’t be there? It nearly sent her into hysterics. Coddling the cranky, tired spike menace was the only thing that could calm her.
Naturally, Mal hated it.
Ben, thankfully, was a level headed man, and he rescued poor Mal and quarantined her in another room. He then held Evie to his chest and quietly stroked her hair as she rattled off every possible dragon disease she found on the internet and their outcomes.
“I have a friend who’s a vet,” Ben told Evie when she had finally calmed down, holding her close as to keep her from spending the night with Mal - who was no doubt sleeping, “she comes and looks at Audrey every few months, I’m sure she’d be happy to give Mal a checkup,”
And so Evie agreed that a vet visit would be the best option, rather then trusting DragonMD. Of course, she wasn’t aware that Ben and this ‘vet’ were very close friends. Let alone that this ‘vet’ was a woman who he was apparently quite comfortable with. Uma was a pretty, muscly, dark skinned sort with long turquoise and white braids. She stood at least a head above Evie in height, and when she pictured a ‘vet’, Uma was quite far from what she was imagining.
“Uma!” Ben greeted with an open hug, “thanks for coming,”
“You’re lucky, Ben. I just got back into town,”
“Uma works in freight,” Ben explained to Evie, resting an arm around her waist as Uma pulled a rather large black duffle in behind her, “she travels a lot; it’s why you didn’t meet her at the wedding. Uma, this is my wife, Evie. I wrote to you about her,”
“Yeah; all good things thankfully. It’s nice to finally meet you,” Uma replied, Evie smiling in kind and taking her hand in a firm shake. The grip was incredibly strong, and the skin on her palms was callous, “Ben, I hope you don’t mind. But I brought Gil.”
“Who’s Gil?” Evie asked, brows popping up. She expected Gil to be a person, or perhaps a child. Having a large, horn-backed dragon wander in with a rose in his beak wasn’t what Evie expected at all. Like the day she had met Audrey, the girl yearned for her sketchbook, “oh my goodness,”
“I told you. Uma is great with dragons,” Ben laughed, “this is Gil,”
“My boyfriends dragon, actually,” Uma told Evie.
“I’ve never seen anything like him!” Evie exclaimed, jostling as ‘Gil’ nearly knocked her over when he came to bump the side of her leg with a wing.
“Sorry,” the sailor groaned, rolling her eyes as she grabbed the dragon by the back of the neck, “he’s really good with people, and gentle as they come. But he’s just so big,”
“What kind of dragon is he?” Evie asked, kneeling down to have a better look. Gil, unlike both Mal and Audrey, was built like a narrow turtle, and was armored like a tank. He had short legs with four toes each, and an articulated shell covering his nape, all the way down to his back legs. His tail was stubby, but sprouted four impressively long spikes, and his face was wide eye’d with a beak rather then a toothy maw. Gil’s wings, Evie noticed, folded inelegantly against the outside of his shell, a bit like messy accordion blinds. No doubt they were quite large in order to help such a bulky creature fly.
“Gil is a Coastal Dragon. They usually live out by the sea, in the sand,” Uma explained, heaving the creature to the side where he flopped to his belly unbothered, still holding the bright red flower in his beak, “Harry picked him up when he was traveling, and he’s been with us ever since. He’s a lazy beast,” Uma complained, tapping the creature’s shell with a boot, “doesn’t do jack-shit other then lay around all day,”
Evie couldn’t help but laugh at this, only to jump as Gil made a noise. It sounded almost like a tired, sad foghorn.
“He’s been crying like that all morning,”Uma drawled, “the minute he figured out I was coming here, he wouldn’t let me leave without him,”
“Why would he do that?” Evie asked, frowning slightly in confusion as Ben rubbed the back of his head and Uma glanced at him expectantly.
“Princess! Your boyfriend’s here!” Ben called out, his voice echoing through the tall vaulted ceiling of their house. Puzzled for a moment, Evie turned as Audrey’s birdsong reached her ear. It only took a second before the pink bullet - wings fully outstretched - glided into the room. Gil, who had previously been laying down, leapt up faster then Evie ever could’ve imagined for such a stocky beast. His accordion wings unfurled like a whip, and Uma tugged Evie backwards a step as he gave one powerful flap and was in the air.
“Sweet Merlin, he’s massive,” Evie breathed in wonder, watching as Gil captured Audrey in a mid-flight embrace, enfolding her between his arms and resting his large head on her crest, “are they...?”
“Together,” Ben confirmed with a nod, “it was a surprise to us to, once we figured it out,”
“Gil is romantic, the big lug,” Uma chuckled, placing her hands on her hips as Gil transferred the rose he’d been keeping to Audrey, who somehow managed to tuck it behind her ear flap in a very teenage-girl like manner, “he gets it from Harry, I think. Sorry about your rose bushes, Ben.” Uma admitted, grimacing slightly as Ben merely chuckled.
“It’s alright. The gardeners will take care of it,”
“Right then. So, you told me you had a sick dragon here?” Uma asked Evie, “and it’s clearly not Audrey,”
“My dragon, Mal, has been sick for a few days now,” Evie told the woman, returning to fretting over her best friend, “She’s really dull and tired, and even more cranky then usual,”
“Hm, that could be a number of things,” Uma pondered, heaving her black duffle up over one shoulder, “what breed is she?”
“An Isle Dragon. At least I think she is. I got the egg as a gift. Mom didn’t ever tell me where she got it from,”
“Well, let’s get to it then. I want out of here before Gil starts mimicking Audrey’s love songs,”
And so the trio left the foyer, heading upstairs into the large upper floor. Ben had made Mal her own special quarantine room. Audrey’s claw marks were all over the door’s painted exterior, showing where she’d been trying to get in earlier.
“I’ll have to talk to that girl,” Ben mumbled at reaching the door, ruffling his hair and groaning at the idea of having to fix the damage. Audrey wasn’t normally destructive, and Evie thought maybe she was coming down with something like Mal had. But Uma merely shook her head.
“It’s only natural,” she explained, opening the door and flicking on the light, “Audrey and Mal have probably already formed a family unit. It’s normal for one dragon to comfort another in times of pain or illness,”
“But Mal and Audrey quarrel constantly,” Evie complained, “they never get along,”
“Maybe so, but Dragons aren’t solitary in the wild. They build family units to survive. You did the right thing though, keeping Audrey out of here,” Uma admitted, kicking the door closed with a boot. Mal was laying in her basket, snoozing the day away unbothered by their entrance.
“I’m going to go call mom and dad,” Ben said to Evie quietly, “see if I can’t get someone down here to fix the door, and the bushes. You’ll be ok here with Uma?”
“Yeah. Love you,”
Sharing a quick kiss on the lips , Ben gave a half wave to Uma before skirting back out the door and vanishing.
“You two are good together,” Uma commented a little while later, removing a stethoscope from her bag and slinging it around her neck, “I was surprised when Ben said he was getting married,”
“Oh?”
Sinking down onto a low stool, Evie watched as Uma very carefully checked Mal’s heartbeat, “why do you say that?”
Uma switched the stethoscope for an ear tool as she began checking Mal’s ear holes.
“I dunno; it just never seemed like he could find the right fit. Hell, even we tried it out once,” Uma admitted with a laugh. This caused Evie’s stomach to drop like a rock. She didn’t mean for the green eye’d monster to make an appearance, but she couldn’t help it. After all, it had only been a few months, and she was nothing like Uma.
“Uh...why didn’t it work out? You and Ben?”
“Ah, we aren’t anything alike, really,” Uma said, satisfied with Mal’s ears and digging around in her bag for a moment, “I was always gone, you know? And of course Ben has his parents business to worry about. He needed someone who could keep up with him. Ah,” finding what she was looking for, Uma removed a small ‘T’ shaped device from the bag, “let’s just take the temperature,”
With a beep, Uma looked at the little digital screen and nodded. She put her tools away, removing a stuffed toy from inside her bag and tucking it under one of Mal’s fat arms.
“You, Evie, seem like just the right type for him,” Uma insisted with a sharp nod, rising from her place on the floor and wiping her hands on her jeans, “as for Mal, I suspect a cold is to blame for this. Where does she normally sleep?”
“Uh, up in the rafters above my bed. She used to sleep next to me, but I share a bed with Ben now. Audrey usually sleeps on her perch,”
“Ah. I suggest maybe installing a heat lamp up there, or building a nesting box. I think she’s getting to cold at night. Dragons are sensitive to that sort of thing,”
“I didn’t know,” Evie admitted, “thank you, Uma,”
“Anytime. I love Dragons, and Ben is still a great friend so I’ll help him out when I can. Anyway, Mal should be back to her normal self in a few days. Keep her warm and eating normally, and if anything changes, call me again and I’ll come back,”
“Can Audrey be allowed back in?” Evie asked, holding the door open for Uma to leave as the girl shook her head.
“No. Keep Mal in here and resting until she’s closer to her normal self. No need to risk Audrey catching whatever she has.”
“Ok. I can do that,” Evie nodded, following Uma back downstairs. Ben was standing in the yard out front, looking over the trampled rose bushes. Audrey and Gil were cuddled up within the broken branches, warm and content in a nest of prickly thorns and velvet petals.
“I think Gil might be more romantic then you, Ben,” Evie joked, looping her arm through her husbands as the man made an offended noise in his throat.
“So you want rose petals?” He asked, “I can do that,”
“Mhm, whatever you say,”
“So how’s Mal? Everything ok?”
“She’ll be just fine,” Uma restated, “Evie knows what needs to be done. As for you, Harry wants to get together at some point for a guys night.”
“Will do. I’ll call him and Jay when I have time,”
Bobbing her head in understanding, Uma gently prodded Gil with a toe through the nest, causing him to lift his head groggily.
“Alright, big fella. Kiss your girlfriend goodbye, we need to get going,”
Gil gave a sad little moan and Uma shook her head, “no complaints. I’m the captain here. Now kisses, and let’s go,”
Evie couldn’t help her little ‘awe’ as Gil reluctantly gave Audrey a little cheek nudge before standing and romping out of the bushes unhappily. Ben picked his own dragon up from the thorns, cradling her like a baby as she wailed dramatically.
“Do you cry like that every time I leave the house?” Evie asked as Uma hauled Gil into her Jeep, leaving poor Audrey heartbroken and hanging limply off Ben’s arm.
“No,” Ben insisted, using his free hand to grasp Evie’s as he gave it a squeeze, “I’m even worse.”

A/N: So...this is officially an AU! I’m calling it the Love Like Dragons AU. Basically Auradon is just a normal city (no prince and princesses, no pirates, ect.). Ben is the heir to his wealthy parents business rather then being a King. And the only ‘magical’ thing in Auradon is the dragons part of it. If you have any questions or suggestions for the AU, ping me :3

Isabella!! For the character ask
Bless your heart, I love you, thank you.
Favorite Thing About Them: Isabella is such an adorable bean and such a potent badass. Every time I see her in an episode, even for a moment, the enjoyment just increases. I guess you could say that I appreciate that she’s...a girl. She’s not a tomboy, not a girly-girl, not some kinda stereotype even though the show makes you think that at first, she’s just a girl. A girl who likes selling cupcakes, singing songs, being cute, all the stuff girls are stereotypically known for to the point of pink being her iconic color - and then you see her doing stuff like making a manly announcement about a truck rally, taking on Buford, being incredibly competitive and loving extreme sports, earning insane, non-conventional patches, FIGHTING ROBOTS, she’s a flipping beast. And she does it as HERSELF - there’s no one telling Isabella she shouldn’t like pink or should conform to one line of thinking. Heck, her whole shtick is just having a crush on a boy - and even though fans may complain about that, and even if the universe seems against Isabella at times, her friends never show disdain toward her feelings, it’s never implied that Isabella is WRONG for doing or liking things. She’s just...being her. She’s a girl - and a girl can like dolls and they can like bb guns. Heck, Isabella’s the character who made me realize how stupid labels really are, and that I should just focus on being me instead of trying to avoid being a stereotype.
I can also very much relate TO her crush on Phineas - I’ve felt that same fear whenever I had a crush on a boy. Heck, my favorite Isabella centered episode, “Operation Crumb Cake” really nails down all the aspects of Isabella that I ESPECIALLY adore. Isabella’s loyalty to Phineas is just...so wholesome and loving. More on that later.
Least Favorite Thing About Them: Isabella is a feminist icon - probably more-so than even Candace, Vanessa, or any other female in the show. As a result, though it’s not TOO often, she’s usually the mouthpiece for certain propaganda regarding the whole “girls are better than boys” fallacy that seems to be littered in children’s programming, Phineas and Ferb sadly being no exception. On one hand, it can be done relatively well - I liked her interactions with Buford in “Got Game?”, as she never once implied that girls were necessarily better than boys, rather that girls COULD beat boys.
On the other hand, you have Mission Marvel, where Isabella complains that there are NO superheroines in the group, even though she’s never had a problem being the only female in the group in the past. It greatly weakens her character whenever she plays a propaganda mouthpiece - this goes without saying for any character, but a character like Isabella especially.
Favorite Line: “Oh, Phineas, yes! I've been right here in front of you all along just waiting for you to...oh...wait. You were talking about the puppet, weren’t you?”
(Much like Phineas, Isabella has A LOT of good lines that are underappreciated - “Do we have chopped liver? What do you think this place is? Chopped li-- oh, that doesn’t really work.”, “See what I mean? One woman’s capris pants is another’s...what’d I miss?”, and ya’ll know how much I love her “IT’S EXTREME!” tangents.)
brOTP: Isabella’s got a good list of brOTPs, namely with the Fireside Girls, Candace, Ferb, and of course Phineas - since I’m just gonna be gushing about Phinabella in the next part, I’m just gonna talk about the obvious:
I like how The Fireside Girls are in sync, but they’re also not perfect. They’re a clique of sorts, but not necessarily in a bad way. They still make mistakes, like pick on Ginger, and they seem to follow Isabella a little too easily, but their bond is, regardless, part of what makes them all so likable. I really wish we had more Fireside Girls episodes, because those girls deserved more development, and Isabella ROCKS that uniform.
Isabella and Candace’s relationship isn’t as forward as the others, but I really like their interactions - Isabella’s always willing to give Candace advice even if it wasn’t asked for, and Candace was so earnest in comforting Isabella when Pinky went missing and was even supportive of Isabella’s crush on Phineas even though she personally didn’t get the attraction. These two are gonna be rad sister inlaws.
Then there’s Ferb, which was a very interesting development. Isabella went from simply acknowledging him, to outright trying to push him and the others out of the picture, to appreciating him, and finally to really truly getting to know how he thinks. Ferb is an awesome wingman, and a supportive friend - he’s also a total troll, and I love him all the same.
Edit: Adding this here, I also really love Isabella’s friendship/rivalry with Doofenshmirtz, like, they were kinda hostile at first but then she became like? So supportive? She gave him a patch and everything, and I think that’s like, so important, because not many people believe in Doofenshmirtz and assume the worst, and then here’s Isabella who’s gotten to know him and believes he can accomplish his goal enough to give him a patch revolving around it - it’s so wonderful, and if we ever get more content I want them to interact again because any positive reinforcement for Doof is fantastic.
OTP: Phinabella. That’s a given, let’s all be real here. Isabella’s love for Phineas has always been a personal source of joy for me, and I hope to be as devoted as her when I find that special someone. Phineas and Isabella are just...so very in sync, and have such a great bond with each other. Sure, it’s hilarious whenever Isabella’s shot down, but what REALLY makes this ship is just their interactions. Whenever they dance together, whenever Phineas involves Isabella with a project or asks her what they should do, the puns they shared in “De Plane! De Plane!”, how protective they are of each other, how much they care for their feelings - it’s just so darn sweet.
It actually is all the stronger given how oblivious Phineas is, because that let’s you know that those gestures are ALL the more sincere. Phineas just so very deeply cares for Isabella, and Isabella cares very deeply for Phineas. I wish “Act Your Age” showcased this more instead of tearing them a part for a while, because I have a hard time believing they’d lose touch even if Isabella were to try to move on from Phineas - because their friendship isn’t just BECAUSE of Isabella’s crush, and their chemistry isn’t because of romance itself, it’s from the fact that they’re deeply connected in the most pure ways imaginable. I just...love them so much.
I like shipping Isabella with other characters, mostly OCs and...well...Buford oddly enough, but I can’t really see any of those ships being truly endgame. It’s always Phinabella in my heart, it always has to be.
nOTP: Let’s see, uh...Doofbella, Isabella/Candace, Isabella x any of the Fireside Girls, Isabella x Perry...I’d put Ferbella here, but I’m actually okay with that ship. I don’t CARE for it, but I don’t outright despise it either.
Random Headcanon: Based on the events of “La Candace-Cabra”, pulling Isabella’s dress inside out reveals that it doubles as a goat costume; she claims that all the dresses of this particular style and brand do this, and that she only has this dress because “there was a sale at the Googleplex mall”. She ultimately despises the fact her dresses have this feature, but appreciates how soft the goat-costume fur makes the outfit.
Unpopular Opinion: I kinda sorta wish that there was an episode where Buford won against Isabella? Or maybe, just put Isabella in a position where she didn’t necessarily SUCCEED against an opponent. I’d find that kinda conflict interesting.
Song I Associate With Them: “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
Favorite Picture of Them:
To be fair there’s like...too many pictures to count, but if I had to choose, it’d be this one...oh, and uh, this one too (I know it’s a gif, but c’mon, this is amazing):
Wow...I talked about Isabella A LOT. Maybe she really IS my favorite...
...nope. Still a three-way draw.

Wirt?
Sexuality Headcanon: Biromantic and asexual.
Gender Headcanon: Cis male, although he occasionally radiates AMAB nonbinary energy and even occasionally trans boy energy. I don’t really know, I wish there was more OTGW content for me to work with.
Ship: Wirt x Sara. Also known as Poetic Bee, but that’s a bad name and I’m not using it.
BROTP: Wirt and Beatrice. Even if I don’t ship these two, I love watching them interact.
NOTP: Wirt x The Beast.
Random Headcanon: Wirt’s a total theatre kid on the inside, but he’s way too scared to ever get on stage.
General Opinion: Wirt’s a great character and someone I relate to a lot. He’s very lovable, and I never get tired of seeing him onscreen.
Thank you for the ask!

*gasp* Dude, Waiting is PERFECT- it is defo one of my favorites, it does NOT need to change. And that is coming from someone who was early on the Stackson broship! I am all for loving the bromance and still enjoying the canon-like levels of douchbaggery and evilness they played with far too often on the show. I know there are tons of Theo lovers out there but I put my 1 cent (u get half off!) on Matt being the better option. Heck, he literally says that the two make a pretty good pair 0=P 1/5
Not gonna lie, I sometimes enjoy stories where Jackson is the bad guy all the more because it helps show the other side of what he could have been if the show had ever given them a chance. For me, it is not about whether Jackson is misunderstood - but about what thread you want to bring into the spotlight and pull taut. The more you do so, the more you can see all the layers begin unravel. It is a bit like examining the extremities to reach the perfect balance at the center. 3/6
I loved your bad/evil Jacksons just as much as I love your bro-awesome Jackson. I can appreciate the latter much more because of the former. But I am weird like that. Honestly, I do not think I could trust someone to truly deliver the perfect Jackson & Stiles bromance if they didn't fully understand their past and all of the ways it wouldn't and shouldn't have worked. Anyways, all of that was to say - keep on keeping on. You rock! 4/6
And your past stories rock regardless of whether you outgrow them. Obviously, if you feel inspired to follow a plot bunny you don't need anyone's permission. I fear the day your plot bunnies abandon Sterek *cries in despair* (it seems like an utter impossibility for me, they inspire me SO much.) but I am happy for the time we have had now. And, frankly, you will have to pry the OG Waiting out of my cold dead hands - I will literally fight you for it! 5/6
And while I am at it, that also goes for all of the following: Dirty Little Secret, Not So Beauty to Your Not So Beast, The Quickest Way to a Man’s Heart (is Through His Bottomless Pit), The Darkness Inside, and Magical Encounters! You may have birthed these puppies but I have adopted them and they are mine now! *blows raspberries at you* okie, bye! 6/6
Anon, I think your 2/5 (or 2/6 depending) either got eaten or you renumbered them because one was missing >.>;; But either way!
Thank you!!! I’m really glad that you like Waiting (and like it how it is) though I was definitely thinking about how it would’ve changed if I’d known of my Stackson brotp love early on lol. And you are right about Matt XD I think I choose him over Theo mostly because I never got as far as Theo so all I know is he’s an asshole but like, MANY PEOPLE ARE??? Still, I forget Theo is a thing most of the time |D ahaha
I do really like the dynamic between Jackson and Stiles in the show in general. I never got to the end (as I repeatedly say |D) but I know that later in the show they’re less hostile towards each other and idk, I like the idea of that growth. I just also like Jackson being a nice dude who pretends he’s an asshole so, you know |D
But thank you!~ I’m glad you like the fics just as they are, and I’d never like, re-write them and replace what’s on Ao3 (I am a firm believer of showing the growth/learning from mistakes so I never delete anything even if I hate it). But idk, if I ever got bored enough, or like, ran out of ideas (*hysterical laughter*) I’d consider re-writing it. It’d be the same but different so it’d be interesting. Idk \o/
Thank you so much~ You are awesome and I hope you’re having a great day! <3<3<3<3<3<3

One thing that felt uncomfortable to go along with in the CF route for me was when Edelgard lies about what happened at Arianrhod to her closest allies (Black Eagle Strike Force) and blames it on the church. Can you give some insight as to why she does this? Especially when Edelgard criticizes the church for lying to the people of Fodlan, but isn’t she doing it here?
That’s certainly a moment that is genuinely ambiguous / a valid point of criticism and something I’d laud a whistleblower for exposing if it were a RL politician, but also the sort of realpolitik / appearance management that has taken place in most RL wars.
Once you’re the leader of anything, allowing panic, division, etc. at bad moments comes with its costs. Of course this is hardly a carte blanche (see: Beating down legit protesters for superficial “order”), but neither is it a factor that can be ignored completely.
At the point of the Arianrhod attack Edelgard was one month away from seizing control of the landmass and ending the large-scale fighting, having one enemy taken out (the Church) and being able to turn all her resources on the other (the Agarthans)
The agarthans at this point know they’re losing control of Edelgard and they’re not stupid enough to have any illusions about her loyalty. So they fire a warning shot to demonstrate their superior weaponry. Arundel makes a thinly veiled threat to fire it on Enbarr.
Of course at this point he basically gave away his location and allowed Edelgard & Hubert to come up with countermeasures, but they don’t want him to know that yet, their strategy involves that they keep being underestimated, let the Agarthans keep thinking that the “beasts” have no counter for the nukes pointed at their heads.
But they still destroyed half a fortress killing the ppl inside. If she reveals that she’s got a rogue faction infiltrating her ranks that’s firing frightening superweapons nilly willy, there will be chaos outrage and disunity right before the final battle. If she doesn’t make a statement at all and declares it a mystery, no one will believe it and her own faction will get the blame throughout the country. So what does she do? Pin it on the enemy she is currently fighting anyways. The purpose here is not to reveal the Agarthan situation too early so they can focus on the church for now.
It’s unclear if this was ever revealed to the public (probably not, I don’t think she’d cause a stir on principle alone) but the ending cards make it quite clear that the Strike Force was let in on the Agarthan situation later and helped her mop them up.
Yeah, it’s defamation, an indisputable textbook government cover up and maybe even technically a kind of propaganda, but her casus belli existed before it’s not like she’s basing it on the lie, and in most wars throughout history the factions have hidden or made a spin of failures & mishaps and made the enemy look bad.
There are certainly many historical examples of such actions creating problems, such as fueling lingering resentments or creating general mistrust that can led to real information not being believed etc. so it’s by no means a safe action that is no big deal and I can see how it could be a legit dealbreaker for some, you certainly weren’t supposed to be 100% comfortable with it, or anything on the CF route, everyone involves is well aware that they’re doing ugly, costly things because (or so they see it) the alternatives are all worse. In that sense it’s the most self-aware one. It’s about actually looking at the bottom line of consequences, not what makes you feel like a hero.
At the same time, doing things like that that squander her moral credibility genuinely IS a flaw in Edelgard’s leadership style - it’s probably why more ppl didn’t believe her manifesto, “she already lied to us cooperating with these shady guys”, making it look like a ‘he said she said’ situation to the wider public that can’t go & confirm the evidence for themselves. This is why Claude thinks he has a better shot at winning& implementing reforms in VW (”too shady for the ppl to get behind”) - just like Dimitri has no plans and Claude’s secrecy creating mistrust even when his secret plan is utterly benevolent. Doesn’t matter how altruistic you are if you look suspicious it will have consequences I mean that’s how she loses on the other rouses, everyone ganks up on her cause she antagonized them all with suspicious actions. I’m not saying she’s any more perfect than the other 2.
but putting that on the same scale as what Rhea did is comparing a candle to the sun.
And maybe the Kantians in the audience will disagree with me but it can be a bit unhelpful to classify different actions of vastly different consequence and magnitude as “Lies”. There is a common principle (telling things that aren’t exactly true) but different magnitude. Clearly “The Confederacy was all great and glorious” and “I totally didn’t eat my little sister’s share of toffees” aren’t on the same level of immorality.
Neither is below the “everythings fine and dandy” line but one is a lie about one incident for one clear purpose, and the other is creating a whole fake world view for the express purpose of control, maintaining harmful systems, suppressing any advancement of science & technology... for 1000 years.
Scale, purpose and consequences are totally different. The arianrhod coverup coming to light would spark controversy & discussion on wether she should have done it under those circumstances; Some might change their opinion about her but overall everyone already knew that she’s not above dirty methods. If you told the average citizen of Fodland about all of Rhea’s lies, everything they know would be wrong. They would go from Adoring & worshipping her to being very confused about what’s true.
It’s the difference between your average modern-day politician doing backroom deals with diverse industry lobbies to accomplish their other goals, and a place like Saudi Arabia.
To get perspective here, let’s look at another example: Claude’s deceptions.
He, too, ultimately wants what’s best for everyone and a lot of the time he decides to fool people to avoid fighting them, I don’t mean to bash him at all, but let’s look at his actions in and of themselves:
Look at the sequence where he, Hilda & Byleth rope the church into helping them - that’s even more outright with the slimy politician tactics: He tries to downplay alliance involvement though he is totally in control, he says that “getting the church on our side will make fighting the empire look like a moral cause” implying that he doesn’t think it is one but wants to portray it as one to get ppl’s support, we’re told he made lots of promises to the merchants to get them on his side (so like that’s literal lobbyists), he installs Byleth as a figurehead, he tells the church ppl he wants to help them get back their old power when he really wants it to diminish and to drastically reorder the society.
He tells everyone he’ll help them save Rhea but while he still has basic human empathy for her & what happened to her he makes it clear he doesn’t want her to go back to being archbishop... at all. He even does this with Byleth: “Yeah, sure, teach we’re totally gonna save her” though in their case he tries to hint that she’s not to be trusted for their own good. Despite his dishonesty, he’s actually a very good friend to them imho. (#broTP)
In the end the power struggle between Claude and Edelgard isn’t personal nor a righteous struggle - he’s just taking advantage of the chaos she caused and he needs the seat of power to reach his own goal. He thinks he can do it better and she’s in the way (and to be fair, she thinks the same about him)
It’s your classic slimy politician: “he’s pretending to be for family values etc thing but really he wants power & is in cahoots with economic interests and he won’t do what he promised” etc. ... except with the plot twist that he’s deeply good and not actually all that ruthless. In a sense he’s as much a total subverted trope as Edelgard.
So doesn’t he have the right to criticise Rhea either? Or do you see how, while not per perfect, he’s miles better and not remotely the same?
Edelgard isn’t 100% truthful, but by and large, she made her intentions very clear with the pamphlets and stuff (even if it meant antagonizing ppl who were against that) and all her soldiers generally know what they’re fighting for and are going to get out of it if they support her, or what the consequences will be if they fail, even if she kept some of the “how” to herself.
Which isn’t to say that Claude ever makes ppl act against their interests even if it’s sometimes what he sees as their interests.
Under Rhea’s rule no one knew what the government’s doing, why it’s doing it, or to some degree, even that she IS the government... for 1000 years. There’s some cult of personality going on. She probably genuinely believes that it does benefit the sheeple to be “guided” by her, but she hasn’t even told Seteth about all she’s doing, she’s pretty much accountable to no one.
In terms of honesty, we could probably rank the lords like this:
Dimitri (a few omissions at worst)
Seteth (lies mostly out of self-preservation)
Edelgard (some convenient secrecy here & there)
Yuri (about the same as El but I’d put him slightly higher for the fake betrayal)
Claude (no one rly knows what he’s up to, but he gets ppl what he promised them and doesn’t outright betray them)
(very)
(big)
(gap)
Rhea (fake history, isolationist bubble, abuse of power left & right, manipulation, will smile in your face while planning to make you a meat puppet for her mom)

Prince Adam himself!
My bratty disaster son <3
Favorite thing about them: He’s actually lowkey hilarious because of his temper and rude quips, if you find that sort of thing funny in a character like I do.
Least favorite thing about them: His complete cluelessness is the only trait that can be annoying. Not that he’s necessarily stupid, but more like he’s really oblivious and thick-headed in a stubborn sort of way when it comes to the people around him. It causes a lot of unnecessary misunderstandings and conflict. That being said, it can also be funny when played for comedy rather than drama.
Favorite line: “Then go ahead and STAAAARRRVE!”
brOTP: Well, I really like the headcanon of him being friends with Gaston previously but Gaston forgetting about him because of the curse and not being a very good friend to him ultimately. It’s mainly what chapter 2 of my fic focuses on. I also like to imagine Kuzco being part of their squad, even though it doesn’t really line up with canon xD
OTP: Definitely Fortadam, both in their human forms and enchanted versions, for reasons I’ve shown pretty clearly in my fic.
nOTP: I don’t really have any nOTPS in the sense where I hate them, but I don’t ship Adam/Belle because I have separate ships for both of them that are better. I’ve also seen jokes about Beast/Maurice and while it’s funny af it’s still deeply cursed.
Random headcanon: Maybe this is just me projecting my own self onto the characters I love, but I have strong reason to believe that Adam/Beast has BPD and I plan to make a video addressing and showing evidence of this at some point.
Unpopular opinion: His redemption was out of character, forced, contradictory, a bit offensive and he was better as a character beforehand.
Song I associate with them: Ok this isn’t a serious one or anything but Threw It On The Ground by The Lonely Island is basically his anthem xD
Favorite picture of them: I really love the torn portrait of himself that is hanging in his bedroom, it represents the juxtaposition between this beautiful Prince on the outside who is riddled with turmoil, pain and rage on the inside.
Also it might be the one time they got him to sit still long enough to have a portrait painted |D
When I went to DisneyWorld there was a BatB restaurant that had this cool-looking version of it hanging in the dining room:

SHIPPY SHIPPY times !! ✿ accepting. @voidhunting has whispered: kai'sa/sivir and kai'sa/ahri uwu
NOTP | meh | it’s ok | i can live with it | BROTP | cute | i love this ship | adorable | OTP | they look so cute together omg ,,
NOTP | meh | it’s ok | i can live with it | BROTP | cute | i love this ship | adorable | OTP | it would be very cute in k/da but i think it would be interesting in their main verses too.
I must admit that I had never thought about Sivir x Kai’Sa before today but then I found this artist who drew such beautiful fanarts of these two together and now I’m highkey in love ,,, WHY DO THEY LOOK SO CUTE TOGETHER OMMMGGG !! I don’t know who started this trend but they did god’s work, good job.
Now, as far as Ahri x Kai’Sa is concerned !! I adore Kai’Sa and I adore her lore so I would honestly love for these two to actually meet... Because they’re so different that it would be really interesting to see how they would act around one another: even though they’re both two beautiful women, they do have a ‘beast’ inside and that’s probably the one thing I adore about this possible dynamics the most. Would they become docile around each other ? Would they remain fierce and hot-headed ? GOOD FOOD, VERY GOOD FOOD !! If we talk about the K/DA verse, it would definitely be much easier to ship them !! And it could be just as interesting considering how strict the music industry can be. This, too, is a very good ship !!
