My newest DnD character, Twentyfive! (full name 25883519) (Their shortened name is a reference to the enneagrams 2 and 5). They're a lawful good warforged marine fighter, looking for a new purpose after the end of the Great Reef War and hiding secrets from their past.
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A digital drawing of a robotic humanoid made from bronze that is partially patined green. Their arms are oversized and they have glowing green lines on their skin, with matching glowing eyes and tubes down their neck and torso. They have a cloth-wrapped greatsword slung across their back. They have no nose, and their jaw is bulky and hinged. The name "25883519" is written on their arm in common, and they also have a glowing tattoo of a ship helm with a star in the middle. Next to them is a drawing of their greatsword, with a dull-colored steel blade and gold-colored handle. Their name is written in the top of the page. / End ID]

happy last day of january!
before i get into the whump posts, an introduction: my larp characters. these febuwhump writing experiments will all focus on one of the above.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Left - Pravde, a faceless nightblade (kind of like a warforged assassin, for the dnd folks). talks like siri, or tiktok's ai voice. has no memory prior to their "rehabilitation" by a psionic wizard. tasked by their employer to eliminate all elemental creatures after a few too many investment property losses.
Centre - Anaranë, who you may recognize! a hobling ranger with a background in competitive gardening. currently the head of the town apothecary after being strongly encouraged to leave her home city due to her explosive temper. she's the only one with in-game experience so far, so her prompts will heavily reference larp plot (sorry)
Right - Rowan, a wood fae druid focusing on sigil magic. he's new, i don't know much about him yet, but i hope to learn through writing! raised by a caravan of ajaunti nomads. casually follows the bronze dragon kaltraxis, of community and meeting needs, which suits his laissez-faire attitude towards property ownership.
i'll do my best to tag each post appropriately for content, but please let me know if i miss something!

Right, well I’m moving here, at least for a bit, time to yell into the void. Here’s a rant/info-dump about D&D and my apparent naming convention. TL;DR at the end if you just want the punny names without the backstory.
Friend of mine invited me to a dnd campaign, my first ever. I’ve seen/listened to some podcasts and shows, plus played BG3, so I get the gist of how the game works (but also knew to temper expectations, not expecting Matt Mercer performances while I can’t even do voices). While I’ve found I’m kinda bad at roleplay (can’t do voices as I just said, and I feel like my characters’ personalities just end up being me without much extra flavor) and therefore am bad at making joke characters, I’ve found my calling by giving every character a punny name.
So my first character was a dragonborn sorcerer. He was a silver/bronze, primarily silver with bronze accents. The silver is almost white, and he got the name Albion. Swap the o and n and you get the idea. (He never got a proper last name, I just never bothered to give him one. in universe he was a bastard child so ehhh maybe that somehow ties in? He’s prob not coming back to the party)
He got swapped out for my current character, an Aarakocra artificer, because A: our warforged needed a healer (potions don’t work on him), and the party needed an off-healer before the cleric joined, B: the party was more chaotic than it made sense for “relatively chill merchant who’s greatest crime was smuggling and tax evasion” (our Dwarf fighter burned down the orphanage that had their son, who was taken from them due to mental instability after their spouse died, and killed a few dozen people including their son. Their reaction in the backstory is “oops”). ANYWAY BACK ON TOPIC: his whole deal is he’s an escaped slave, where he was originally sent into these places called the Burned Lands, sites of probably an ancient war with magical radiation. This is partially an excuse to just give the guy horns because they look cool as shit. Anyway his wings were… “removed” by his captors to prevent escape. At some point as a child, he got injured in an explosion, losing his arm and eye. However, being pretty resourceful by now (and lucky enough to find some Forerunner equipment, the people who probably did the war), replaced both. So now he’s got a robot arm, arcana eyepatch, and at some point he fashioned a glider pack that might eventually upgrade to a jet pack (originally I basically just didn’t want a ranged character with flight because I know that can break some fights and didn’t want to make my dm focus on that, plus extra angst, but kept the wings in the form of a constant slow-fall). Now he’s basically (supposed to be, if I could roleplay better) a sorta Adeptus Mechanicus type, believing in the strength and certainty of steel.
His name is Errk Gearwing. His last name came to me a while after the first, and I’m canonizing that after escaping he found work and when needing a last name, the dwarf doing paperwork came up with it on the spot.
I have a backup character, another Dragonborn, this one a Paladin. I don’t have much backstory for him yet, haven’t even run him by my DM. Basically, he’s gonna be a H U G E dude, with a STR of *19* (I got some stupid good rolls), but a dex of 8. Think im gonna roll with he’s also got prosthetic arms, but while Errk is both surprisingly practiced in medicine and machinery, this guy’s arms are a lot less precise.
His name is Auris. Again, color theme: gold Dragonborn.
TL;DR: so far my DND characters are
1: a white Dragonborn named Albion (Albino rearranged),
2: a bird artificer that replaced his wings with sci-fi fantasy tech with the last name Gearwing,
3: a gold Dragonborn with the name Auris (Au, Aurum, Latin for gold).

Back with more LEGO DND, now for our campaign with the amazing @narsh-poptarts as our DM. From right to left, we have @anxiousartist0’s centaur Atlas, @moriafriend’s warforged BAJ-510n (“Artie”), and my characters (who were also designed by Narsh) the grey fox shifter Stick and the bronze drake Bug.

My latest D&D character: Mékōn. She’s a warforged ranger and a gardener. She fights by shifting her hands into garden shears and keeps a neat collection of herbs and plants inside of her head.  Thanks @xiphosuras for inviting me for the game! I had a lot of fun :)

I’ve amended Death Dancing on a Wire, as a contender of the next fic after ‘The Heavenly Body’ Case File in Question. Gladiator!AU-esque, in a steampunk kinda kingdom where they use animatronics for entertainment, because there’s a whole thing about using humans were inhumane. There are still human slaves and whatnot, because a lotta rich people here are still cruel. Using robots are still a new thing, and they’re experimenting strong versions for combat. Sun and Moon are experiments for a bronze warforged (Sun) and a steel warforged (Moon). William Afton, is an inventor who designed Sun and Moon and is showing them off in the stadiums. Scumbag, has a lotta slaves, and you become one because you were caught stealing from him. There’s a travelling circus around the kingdom with a mysterious ring master that people don’t know who it is. Animatronics hear that this circus, albeit using robots as actors, is a safe haven rather than a slave drive. Sun and Moon are plan on running away to this circus...and then you’re added to the slave system.
...would they take you with them?

Commissions for @staggeringsmite of @swarmkeepers’ PC, Sum and Aierdyn.
[Image ID: a digital painting of Sum, a warforged shown in three quarters profile from the shoulders up on a teal background. They are raising their hand so that the palm is facing towards the viewer and half of their face is obscured. It is made of matte metal of varying shades (dark grey, light grey, brass and bronze) as if it was assembled from mismatched pieces of machinery. They have a bright orange glow emanating from the gaps between their chest plates, which also casts faint light on their arm and neck joints. Their eyes, made of goggles with several interlocking gears and wires, and their mouth which is a small mesh-filled slit also emanate a faint red-orange glow. On their exposed palm is a small white scratch.]
[Image ID: a digital painting of Aierdyn, an earth genasi shown from the chest up on a pale blue background. They are looking up at the viewer and have their arms pulled in tightly to their sides. She has tan skin that has patches of pale purple and red discoloration, as well as patches of amethyst geodes across their face and neck. The right side of their scalp is completely covered in amethysts. She has dark purple hair and bright purple eyes. They are wearing a cream tunic, a green cape, and have a gold amulet with a salmon gem inset in it.]

Dnd stuff part 2
Zane: Warforged - Beast Master Ranger
Literally made a dnd-sona. His animal companion is his falcon. He has the same backstory as he does in real life. “I wish to be accurate to myself, if I am to be roleplaying in this game.”
“Warforged are made from wood and metal, but they can feel pain and emotion. Built as weapons, they must now find a purpose beyond the war. A warforged can be a steadfast ally, a cold-hearted killing machine, or a visionary in search of purpose and meaning.”
Jay: Bronze Dragonborn - Maverick Artificer
Jay had a dnd phase so he knows what he’s doing. Still, seeing as all his friends seemed to be playing characters accurate to themselves, he figured he would join in. Bronze dragons have an affinity to lightning and the ocean, and are considered more benevolent than some other dragons. His character was raised in a small community of other Dragonborn by the resident smiths. He left in search of greater purpose and new ideas to help the world with his inventions, promising to come back home soon.
“While often dismissed by other artificers as eccentric amateurs, in their refusal to follow established tradition, a Maverick may stumble on remarkable breakthroughs—though their idiosyncratic techniques can rarely be replicated by others.”
I LOVE JAY'S LIKE. A L O T
And Zane's!!! Super cool and clever!!!

you're in an eberron campaign too?!
I was! Unfortunately it won't be finishing because we had a few players drop out (the game was great, but both players were computer-science-business double majors and 3rd year classes are murder). It was a lot of fun while it lasted though! I really love the setting and we had some fantastic inter-party intrigue going on!
I pitched the idea of playing Min, a changeling arcane trickster rouge trying to set themself up as a crime lord. "Larua the Liege of Theives" was really Min just wearing several different alter egos. None of the party knew this, even though Larua was employing all of them. They had personal beef with the Deneith house. (all of the alter ego's names were also puns, I had a whole list, I was quite proud of it)
The Totally Human Fighter literally named "Manny" was actually a bronze dragon called Ishmael who forgot who he was after PTSD in the great war, and he was just currently a goofball hoarder stuck in human form. Also the patron to the party's warlock but had no idea.
Marlowe was the party warlock, but before he made the pact with Ishmael, he was a member of the Deneith house but got kicked out. He also had no clue Manny was his patron and they bickered all the time, it was absolutely hilarious.
P1L07 (Pilot) was a warforged artificerwho wanted to learn how to fly again after the Great War ended and he lost his purpose. Bonded with Manny over war truama. Played by my IRL artificer mad scientist friend who consistently brought neat trinkets to every game, like 3D printed clear resin prescription lenses and a working light up LED lightsaber that could be programed with different glow patterns.
And last but not least, Aewin d'Thuranni - an elven wizard who solved all his problems with murder and was best friends with one of Min's alter egos, while bickering constantly with Min's other alter ego, and actively trying to assassinate the 3rd alter ego.
The gist of the plot was that we were all chaotic neutral theives who would be doing heists but we accidentally tripped into heroics by trying to stop people who were trying to restart the Great War and position themselves on top by getting ahead of the fighting.
I'm sad we'll never finish that game because I have a soft spot for those sessions, since they were the first in person games I played with my uni friends when we got back from lockdowns, and the first time I'd ever played with them in person. But the same DM has started a new game in a homebrew world called Nexia and I'm super excited to see where he takes us with that!
sorry that turned into a ramble sldkjsdlkjdfsljkfs. What's your game about?????? I love the setting of Eberron so much, I want to hear about your experience with it!

Min/Larua/Miragel/Maxk/Visige/Who Knows? :)
You ever pose in front of your own wanted poster just to see if anyone notices? (turn off your bluescreen filter or the colors in this will look weird)
Age: 20ish, totally not an irresponsible teenage but still by far the youngest member of the party (any pronouns)
Race and Class: Changeling Arcane Trickster Rouge (but nobody knows they're a changeling yet)
Stats:
STR: 8
DEX: 16
CON: 11
INT: 16
WIS: 11
CHA: 17
Goals: Become the greatest thief ever, get revenge on her ex-childhood best friend and his family, and take the first shots to stop a war before it starts.
Backstory:
As a child, Min grew up alongside Virgil Deneith, the son of one of the leaders in House Deneith, named Brutus. They were a street-rat, riff-raff, kind of kid who liked using her abilities for pranks, and often got Virgil in trouble as they went on dramatic escapades, and narrowly escaped the consequences. That is, until Brutus found out that his son was friends with a commoner and a changeling, forced Min to show their true face, and tossed her out, telling them never to speak to Virgil or come near House Deneith again. Virgil stood stilent and let this happen, and Min never really forgave him for it, when she saw him as having the power to stop this treatment.
They were later adopted by a kindly halfling shopkeeper named Mabel, who has ambigious ties to the criminal realm. Taking up the persona of Miragel - a halfling who looks like she could be Mabel's niece or grandkid - she trained under Mabel and learned magic and cunning. Through her teens, she used the shop as a front for her criminal activities as she set up essentially a multi-level-marketing-scheme with her other personalities. With Miragel, Visage (a high elf who infiltrated House Deneith), and Maxk (a half-orc fighter who's in with the assassins of House Thurani, including one of the other party members, Aewin), all reporting to a figurehead known only as Larua, the legend of the League of Thieves was born.
The campaign began when Larua recruited the other party members to join the crime ring and start investigating suspicious activities in House Deneith. In our most recent session, we discovered that Brutus is trying to restart the Great War and we've decided to try and stop it by kidnapping, impersonating, and torturing Virgil to find out what he knows. Y'know. Nothing personal. :)
The Party:
Aewin d'Thuranni - a high elf assassin/performer illusion wizard, who's best friends with Maxk and constantly bickers with Miragel, having no clue they're the same person. Solves all of his problems with murder.
P1L07 - aka "Pilot" a warforged artificer who's slowly gaining sentience after he was decommissioned following the end of the Great War. Was aimlessly wandering, trying to find a new flying ship, until he met the party. The source of 90% of our philosophical conversations and moral dilemmas, considering that the rest of the party's moral compass is a roulette wheel.
Marlowe d'Deneith - a human warlock who earned his dragonmark but then got kicked out of House Deneith for un-explained reasons and made a deal with a bronze dragon named Ishmael to get his magic powers back.
Manny the Human - a totally normal human fighter who likes hoarding shinies and is totally not an amnesiac bronze dragon with PTSD named Ishmael. Possessor of an INT stat of 5, and a complete wild card in every situation imaginable. Stubbornly refuses to acknowledge the mountain of evidence proving he is, indeed, a dragon.
