so there are a few things at play here. first of all, brit’s husband was a hardcore trump supporter rather than just someone who’s not a democrat. keep in mind that this happened in 2019-20, and if you read any of her interviews from that time, you’ll see excerpts where she was legitimately tearing up when discussing the state of the country. i’m sure she feels just as strongly about it now, though the political climate is different, and she likely has reasons to be more discerning with what she shares about her political views. however, a close friendship with someone you’ve known from childhood vs being in the same circle as your partner are two completely different social dynamics. the latter affects your partner just as much as it affects you. you kind of have to play nice with certain people in your partner’s life (not saying that’s the case with the mahomes), because that’s unnecessary tension you want to avoid when it relates to people you don’t see 24/7. when it comes to an extremely close personal friendship, it can be harder to ignore certain values because the connection is deeper, and you only think of it in the context of how it affects the two of you rather than any other people in your life.
