I only caught a handful of bands and had to make the difficult choice between Alvvays and Yard Act. Although I never got to my usual front spot, I got a pretty decent view from the side for Alvvays but because of clashes only managed to catch about 1/2 hour of the set before I headed over to see Yot Club across the road at Rough Trade.
Here are a few pics and vids Track: Adult Diversion

Chroma - 'Bombs Away' Single Review (Estelle Trowill)
Pontypridd based bilingual alt-rock trio CHROMA are excited to announce the release of their new single, "Bombs Away," released on 2nd October 2024 through Alcopop! Records.
The track is from the band's debut album ‘Ask For Angela’, which was released in October 2023 and has recently been shortlisted for the 2024 Welsh Music Prize.
Commenting on the single, vocalist Katie Hall said: “Since I saw My Chemical Romance in Cardiff CIA as a 14 year old kid, I’ve always wanted to write a song for teenage girls to mosh to. Bombs Away is that song. I love going to gigs and I feel like my time getting pushed around in the pit made me fall in love with heavier music.”
“Bombs away at its core is a breakup song. It’s about that moment you begin to see the wood for the trees, with someone you’re seeing. It’s that moment you realise someone’s taken advantage of your kindness and you’re just fuming. Bombs Away is that anger and then moving on.”
The track delivers a powerful buildup, fueled by hard-hitting drums and Katie’s commanding vocals, creating an intense energy throughout. The infectious, repetitive chorus adds an extra layer of impact, making it irresistibly catchy and perfect for a high-energy mosh pit. Its anthemic quality and driving rhythm make it an ideal soundtrack for letting loose and getting lost in the moment.
‘Ask For Angela’ was recorded at Giant Wafer Studios in Llanbadarn Fynydd, during lockdown. CHROMA’s acclaimed, now Welsh Music Prize-shortlisted debut album was produced and mixed by Steffan Pringle (Adwaith, Future of the Left, Boy Azooga) and mastered by Tom Langrish at E1 Mastering in London (IDLES, Fontaines D.C, DITZ).
CHROMA have had an exciting year, recently being named one of the newest patrons of the Music Venue Trust. After a thrilling support slot with the Foo Fighters earlier this year, plus standout sets at SXSW Festival, FOCUS Wales, and shows with Bob Vylan, The Mysterines, and more, CHROMA are now gearing up to support Goldie Lookin Chain.

RIDE Shares New Single "Last Frontier" + Announces NA, UK, and IRE Tour
Ride reveals their latest single “Last Frontier,” marking the second preview from their upcoming seventh album, Interplay, scheduled for release on March 29 via Wichita Recordings / PIAS. With the launch of this single, the band from Oxford announces tours across North America, the UK, and Ireland. They will begin their tour in North America in May, shortly after “Interplay” is released, followed by performances in the UK and Ireland in September, featuring a notable show at London’s Roundhouse. Tickets will be available for purchase at 10am on Friday through their official website. “Last Frontier” showcases a gradually intensifying ethereal beat, blending a rich tapestry of sounds with timeless indie craftsmanship. Guitarist and vocalist Andy Bell comments on the song’s evolution, noting it as an initially overlooked piece from their first jam session at Mark’s OX4 Studio. It was the insight of their producer, Richie Kennedy, that recognized the song’s potential, leading to a complete overhaul at Vada studio, aiming for a raw, Joy Division-like foundation. Bell experimented with various vocal styles during recording, seeking spontaneity and innovation in his delivery. This approach, he admits, was a departure from his usual method, offering a blend of meticulous composition and on-the-fly creativity that he aims to pursue further. “Interplay” represents Ride’s third album since their 2014 reunion, marking a period where the band has spent more time together in this second era than during their initial phase as ‘90s shoegaze icons. Following “Weather Diaries” (2017) and “This Is Not A Safe Place” (2019), the album aims to ignite the band’s legacy anew, appealing to longstanding fans while captivating a new generation. The album, co-produced with Richie Kennedy and mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer, bridges the gap across their career. It reimagines the energetic guitar work, mesmerizing rhythms, and melodic allure of their early days within a broader, more vibrant sonic landscape, drawing inspiration from ’80s pop icons like Tears For Fears, Talk Talk, and early U2. Upcoming Tour Dates: 5/11 - Boston, MA @ Big Night Live 5/13 - Montreal, QB @ Theatre Fairmount 5/14 - Toronto, ON @ Concert Hall 5/15 - Detroit, MI @ Majestic Theatre 5/16 - Chicago, IL @ Metro 5/17 - Minneapolis, MN @ Fine Line 5/19 - Denver, Colorado @ Gothic Theater 5/22 - Vancouver, BC @ Commodore Ballroom 5/23 - Portland, OR @ Mission Theater 5/25 - Seattle, WA @ Showbox 9/2 - Belfast, UK @ Limelight 9/3 - Dublin, Ireland @ Olympia 9/4 - Cork, Ireland @ Cyprus Avenue 9/6 - Sheffield, UK @ Leadmill 9/7 - Newcastle, UK @ Boilershop 9/8 - Glasgow, UK @ SWG 3 TV Studio 9/10 - Liverpool, UK @ Invisible Wind Factory 9/12 - Leeds, UK @ Stylus 9/13 - Manchester, UK @ New Century 9/14 - Bristol, UK @ SWX 9/16 - Falmouth, UK @ Princess Pavilions 9/17 - Portsmouth, UK @ Guildhall 9/18 - Brighton, UK @ Chalk 9/20 - London, UK @ Roundhouse 9/21 - Wolverhampton, UK @ Wulfrun Halls 9/22 - Cambridge, UK @ Junction Read the full article

Am 12. Januar erscheint das neue Magnum Werk "Here Comes The Rain"
Magnum veröffentlicht neues Studioalbum "Here Comes the Rain" am 12. "Here Comes the Rain" wird am 12. Januar 2024 über SPV/Steamhammer in folgenden Konfigurationen veröffentlicht: - CD+DVD ("Live At KK's Steel Mill") DigiPak - CD Jewel Case Version - Limitiertes Box-Set - 2LP Gatefold, 140 g, stabiles babyblaues Vinyl, bedruckte Innenhüllen - Herunterladen / Streaming - Exklusive CD/LP Bundles mit einem Shirt nur im Steamhammer Shop - 2LP Gatefold exklusive farbige Edition nur im Napalm Shop Nur für UK: - Exklusive CD/LP-Bundles mit einer signierten Fotokarte nur im Townsend-Shop Tracklist: 1. Tinariwen - “Anemouhagh”
Tinariwen, the legendary, Grammy-winning Tuareg collective will release their new album, Amatssou, on May 19th, 2023.
Amatssou by Tinariwen
Amatssou by Tinariwen
Amatssou by Tinariwen
Later this month, Tinariwen will embark on their first US tour since 2019, beginning on May 27th at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music and including stops in Los Angeles, New York and more. A list of full dates are below and tickets are on sale now. For decades, Tinariwen have remained ambassadors for the Tuareg people, a way of life in tune with the natural world, which is under threat as never before. Throughout Amatssou — the legendary collective’s ninth studio album — Tinariwen set out to explore the shared sensibilities between their trademark desert blues and the vibrant country music of rural America. Recorded in Djanet, an oasis in the desert of southern Algeria located in Tassili N’Ajjer National Park, with additional production on two tracks by Daniel Lanois (Brian Eno, U2, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Peter Gabriel, Willie Nelson), Amatssou finds Tinariwen’s signature snaking guitar lines and hypnotic grooves seamlessly co-existing alongside banjos, fiddles and pedal steel. Though Tuareg culture is as old as that of ancient Greece or Rome, the songs of Amatssou speak to the current and often tough reality of Tuareg life today. Unsurprisingly, there are impassioned references to Mali’s ongoing political and social turmoil. Full of poetic allegory, the lyrics call for unity and freedom. There are songs of struggle and resistance with oblique references to the recent desperate political upheavals in Mali and the increasing power of the Salafists. Tinariwen’s message has never sounded more urgent and compelling than it does on Amatssou.
