The Dandori Battle Post (How to destroy the AI really)
Dandori Battles aren't really that bad, but sometimes they can be a bit hard, so here's some advice in case you're having trouble getting that Platinum medal (Spoilers for Pikmin 4's Dandori Battles Below)
Trail Run: Player with 10 Red Pikmin, Olimar with 5 Red Pikmin, Moss with Buff L.3
First of all, abuse the hell out of my favorite strat, Oatchi go do it. Just sick Oatchi on anything 10 or higher in weight, and if Oatchi has Super Buff, just sick him on whatever the hell Moss is trying to bring back. You can also try to get the nugget piles, as they quickly add to your score (Or Olimar's if he goes for them)
Battle in a Box: Player with 5 Ice Pikmin, Olimar with 5 Ice Pikmin, Moss with Super Buff Lv. 1, Intro to the Bonus Item
In this Dandori battle, Olimar doesn't understand that when a creature dies in an icey form, it won't drop it's corpse. If you get the Bulborb, it's a lockout for that Bonus Item 90% of the time. Go for the nugget piles, as Olimar doesn't really prioritizes them as much as he should. Also bully him sometimes, it's fun.
Dandori Castle: Player with 5 Yellow Pikmin, Olimar with 10 Yellow Pikmin, Moss with Super Buff Lv.2, Intro to the Golden Sniffer and Items
Olimar will not try to go for the Golden Sniffer or Items, so ABUSE THE HELL OUT OF THEM. He can still get them, it's just not at the top of his prioritizes. You most likely won't have to abuse the Bonus Item AI trick as seen later, but if you want, just get it after Sunseed Berries, those are easy to steal from him. Also, don't lower the thing near the electric wall, or even break the electric wall. Just use Oatchi, it's a waste of time. TRUST. Also, around this point in the game, you should dedicate a button to the IDLE ALERT, because hot damn it this item good. It allows you to call you're army back to you if they are at the base without interrupting the other tasks you may have active, like carrying back items or nuggets. Very good item to use.
Leafy Showdown: Player with 5 Rock Pikmin, Olimar with 10 Rock Pikmin, Moss with Swallow, Intro to the Sneak Bomb
Now it's time to bully the old man with my favorite Oatchi related strat, called MURDERING MOSS. No really, if Moss swallows something you want, just sick Oatchi AND ONLY Oatchi on her. She'll get stuck in a loop of spitting out the item, picking up the item, getting hurt, and repeat cycle until Moss dies. If you sick Pikmin on top of this, Moss with shake them off and break the cycle Oatchi created, so don't do that. Also, Olimar doesn't really seem to prioritize Bonus items on land, for some reason. If it's the Sunseed Berry, then he'll go after the ones in the water, instead of the four near his base. Dunno why he does this, but he does.
Hot Sandy Duel: Player with 5 Red Pikmin, Louie with 15 Red Pikmin, Moss with Swallow
This battle is where the Bonus Item AI stuff becomes important, as this battle can range from easy as hell to wtf nintendo depending on the starting bonus item. If it's Downy Snagret, Firey Bulbax, Sunseed Berry and/or Water Dumple, you're going to have a bad time. The one you're looking for is the Scorchcake, as Louie's AI will grab his Pikmin, run over to the creature, and press X. Most times, this ends up murdering his entire army, and if it doesn't, get Oatchi to steal the Scorchcake for you. Also never use the firestarters, Louie's AI won't either and it's a waste of time really. Don't fight the Firey Bulbax, let Louie do it for you :). The Oatchi trick still applies. Also if you want, since the Louie AI doesn't know of the Oatchi trick, you can get have him swallow it and lead it all the way over. Also start paying attention to the multiplier that some items get, as if you are beating Louie too badly, the game will pity him and give him a 5 times multiplier and you a 2 times.
Final Battle: Player with 5 Winged Pikmin, Louie with 20 Winged Pikmin, Moss with Swallow
Same everything that applies up there, but add on that the Bonus items you are looking for are either the Insect Condo, or the Portable Sunset. Both have one on the board as the game starts, and Louie most times won't go for them. If you get anything else, you'll have a bad time, especially if it's the Sunseed Berry. Make sure to Sneak Bomb Louie, and while you're at it, you can just throw a mine on top of his base, which can explode his entire army. Ignore the Baldly in the middle, trust me, not worth it. Nuggets are also back as a good way to own Louie. Keep some Pikmin back at the base, just incase Louie sends over the Sneak Bomb via Pikmin.
#pikmin#pikmin 4#dandori#dandori battle#advice#strat#strategies#I just want to share this with y'all#cause sometimes the AI do really start playing the game#Kicking Olimar's ass advice#Also Kicking Louie's ass advice#whatever you need lol#I've played Pikmin 4 too much HAHAHAHA

Having some WC gameplay shower thoughts today about how i would actually make 5 captains work so time for a bit of a ramble.
though before i do ramble i wanted to do some clarification of the different parts of WC. The tag #pikmin wratihs call refers to the entirety of it- the story. When it comes to the theoretical gameplay tho theres 2 (or kinda 3?) different parts. First part is just Olimar and Louie being rescue corps members and generally being pretty similar to Pik 4 gameplay outside no oatchi. Second part follows Olimar, Louie, Alph, Brittany, and Charlie all returning to 404 as corps members with their own ship and the gameplay is pretty original outside the general skeleton of Pikmin gameplay. in between those is a koppai focused story but that would only work if it was a pikmin graphic novel game as there literally is only actual pikmin for about 1 page lmao.
Now then on to how Iv been thinking about making 5 captains work in the 2nd half of WC:
Essentially at the start of every day it starts off in the main ship and you choose how many captains you’re bringing out into the field. More captains the merrier obviously but when you bring one out there’s a major caveat. Each of the 5 captains don’t just do nothing while left behind, they have their own upgrades they develop over the day that they’re left on the ship! Some projects might take them multiple days but regardless they’re always working towards something in their own given fields.
Said fields for each goes as following:
Louie: Food! Louie for once actually gets to subject the others to his meals he makes and each one will give a different benefit for the day, starting simple with simply moving faster or having more health, up to his more ambitious meals that can have more extreme changes to the day with their own extreme draw backs (such as a food that makes a day 50% longer but every enemy in the area respawns) He has to perfect and collect the ingredients for said meals though so he needs the off time to do so
Alph: Suit/Gear upgrades. No raw materials required but time and patience is. The suits are only just now custom made since the urgency of this mission was so high and so he’s up to the task of gradually upgrading them on the mission.
Brittany: Onion and even Pikmin improvements. Her botany might as well be used to help the little plants that help them and so she’ll work towards safe ways to biologically improve the state of your onion and the pikmin that come out of it (Such as making it passively grow pikmin or even at a higher level, flower a few of the pikmin inside at the start of a new day)
Charlie: Physical training of the captains, basically like puppy point training but it’s timed instead. Running, swimming, jumping and hell even pulling things. Dw he’ll make the captains who were out for the day pull an all nighter to learn them /j
Olimar iv yet to come up with a good one yet.,. I thought maybe the ship but it would be stupid to force people to wait to go to a new area, especially thinking about my speedrunning chums. Treasure is still all you need for power.
This whole system is basically to encourage people to play with all the characters and really plan out the day ahead. Also a way of making each play through a bit different then the last as you could prioritize upgrading one thing over another.
Now then lastly I just have a few gameplay changes; Spicy spray will still effect all pikmin in play but will not flower them. Instead nectar puddles can be picked up if you so wish and eventually used in one large burst to flower all pikmin out on the field. Ice pikmin are nerfed- they can only freeze an enemy if eaten and otherwise will just slow down an enemy while attacking and have the same pitiful damage as winged pikmin. Purples are technically not nerfed but due to the new mechanic of carrying pikmin around in the pack to go up ledges and stay together easier, they have one downside of being stupid heavy on the captains. 100 carry weight pack can only carry 10 purples due to their weight. Whites now get a buff that will passively poison enemies over time depending on how much were on them and how long.
That’s all my thoughts atm, always open to questions about mechanics or anything else really. Currently still can’t draw bc of my hand tho so no doodle for ur time <\3

The Pikmin Series
Thursday 23/2/23
Media Recommendations #45
I've been in a really compulsive mood lately. I'm pretty sure I have some form of mild ADHD, but lack the initiative to actual go and confirm this. To me, this means joy in the completion of small tasks, and a low attention span. And although I've been waiting almost a decade for the next game, I feel the series that best scratches this itch is Pikmin.
Pikmin is one of my favourite series of all time, and lately, news of Pikmin 4 has me more hyped than news of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. So in today's article, I wanna discuss what I love about Pikmin, and also just compare the different games in the series.
The Pitch
The Pikmin Games are classified as Real Time Strategy Games, but comparing them to other RTS's like Age of Empires is folly. Instead of large scale conflict on a huge scale, the Pikmin Games have you follow one guy with an army behind him, and while you can have several groups doing tasks at a time, you must physically approach each soldier to interact with them.
You control a space Captain of a tiny alien species who has landed on PNF-404, a planet of lush greens, and strange monsters. Each game has different reasons for your protagonist to be there, but essentially you are tasked with collecting things and bringing them back to your ship in order to leave the planet and go home. But you cannot do this alone. Amongst the various scary creatures that dwarf the player character, there are the Pikmin, small plant/animal hybrids that follow your every command. It is up to you to direct the Pikmin into defeating enemies and carrying your quarry home, while avoiding all the obstacles that get in your way.
The Gameplay Loop
Your Pikmin army is a fragile, but determined species that can easily die but also easily multiply. Defeated enemies or resources called Pellets can be carried by the Pikmin to their mothership, a structure called the onion, and when it absorbs nutrients, it spits out new Pikmin. Having more Pikmin is crucial because bigger items require more Pikmin to carry.
As an example, Pellets have numbers on their top that indicate how many Pikmin require to carry them. A "1" Pellet can be carried by 1 Pikmin, but a 5 Pellet requires 5 Pikmin. Small enemies might require 3 Pikmin, most larger intimidating enemies require at least 10, and if you defeat a boss, that could require at least 20. But the more Pikmin you have, the more they can carry, and this will produce more Pikmin. It is a positive feedback loop. But there is a cap. All Pikmin games allow no more than 100 Pikmin in the field at a time, but spare Pikmin can rest in the Onion, and be summoned to strengthen your ranks if others die.
In Pikmin, there is only so much you can do in a day, and this is typically between 13 and 18 minutes depending on the game and difficulty. At the start of each day, you will have to summon Pikmin from their onion to start work, and at the end of the day, you must bring them back to home base. Any Pikmin idle in the field when the day ends are left to die. Due to the ferocity of nocturnal life, the protagonist and the Pikmin's Onion leave the Earth's surface during night and take refuge in low orbit. So you must make sure you finish any tasks well before the final countdown, or risk losing tens of Pikmin who are not accounted for.
Each game has a different limit to the number of days you have to finish the game, but I will get into these differences later in this post. Depending on the state of your Pikmin army, some days may be more productive in terms of working on your main objective, while others might be spend just building up your army after a major loss. It is a balancing act.
The World
As a lover of Scifi, particularly Speculative Biology, the Pikmin series really tickles my fancy. The game's setting, PNF-404, is in fact planet Earth in the far off future. The continents have changed positions, and the climate is overall more lush and moist. But we only ever see the world at a micro-scale. This provides a unique take on speculative evolution.
When we think of how animals will evolve into the future, most popular culture focuses on megafauna, but when your player character is 2 centimetres tall, the most common type of threat will be creepycrawlies. There's quite a deep taxonomic web of genetic families with high biodiversity and adaptation radiation. The Bulborb or "Grubdog" family has about 10 unique subspecies in Pikmin 2 alone.
Starting in Pikmin 2, the Captains document each species of enemy in the Piklopedia, giving each a binomial scientific name and a general description. I've spent many hours just reading through these entries and observing the critters.
Beyond what has become of the world, we can also explore what used to be of the world. Leftovers from human civilisation, such as bricks, garden beds, and ceramic tiles form obstacles to exploration. Recognisable earthly fruit such as cherries, strawberries, and watermelons litter the forest floor. Knick knacks and junk such as AAA batteries, bottle caps, and NES cartridges can be dug up and collected. This is a world that was once lived in by humans, and like fossils, their impact is left to be found by future explorers.
Comparison of Games in the Series
At the time of writing, there are 3 main Pikmin games, with a fourth coming out later this year (thank goodness, it's been sooo long). Despite the same world and gameplay loop; grow pikmin, defeat enemies to grow more pikmin, collect thing to get to new areas and get new pikmin; each game tasks the player with a vastly different objective and restrictions on game time. Therefore, there can arise disagreements in which game provides the best experience.
In Pikmin 1, Olimar's ship accidentally crashes down to Earth and smashes to pieces. He cannot breath Earth's atmosphere, and his suit will only keep him alive for 30 days. He must spend these 30 days collecting as many parts of his ship as he can, so he has the capacity to leave Earth's orbit and warp back home. There are 30 ship parts to collect, but careful planning means you can easily get multiple pieces a day, and only 25 pieces are required. This game can feel very stressful with this looming time limit, but it is very unachievable to complete the game a few days early.
Pikmin 2 has Olimar and coworker Louie returning to PNF-404 on a treasure hunting mission. Their freight company is almost bankrupt, but junk from Earth can be sold on their home planet, Hocotate, for a fortune. There is no limit on how many days you need to spend on the distant planet, and you reach the first ending when you pay off the 10'000 poko debt. In addition, this is the only game in the series to feature Caves, underground sublevels of exploration. No time passes between entering and exiting a dungeon, but you can not go back to recruit more pikmin until you leave. Most of the game's treasure is found in dungeons.
In Pikmin 3, you take control of three spacemen from the planet Koppai, Alph, Brittany, and Charlie. Their planet is running out of food, and in their journey to find food on other planets, the three land on Earth. The three are tasked with collecting fruit, taking the seeds to grow back on Koppai, and the juice from the fruit are converted into rations for the three to continue their stay. There are 66 fruit to collect, and a few different endings depending on how many are collected.
In my opinion, Pikmin 3 achieves the best balance of time limit to challenge. Unlike Pikmin 1, there is not a hard deadline. 1 jar of juice means one day's rations. Different fruit will fill different amounts of juice; 20 grapes are needed to fill a jar, a cherry might only fill half a jar, while a watermelon can fill 3 jars on its own. Since there is a limited amount of fruit in the game, you can run out of new ones to find, but this gives the player upward of 50 days to beat the game. So unlike Pikmin 2, the time limit is not infinite, but actively pursuing the objective gives you more time.
Caves are an interesting way to pump extra challenge and content into a limited overworld, but since each floor is randomly generated, they are less deliberately complex and interesting than they could be. Pikmin 2 does offer the most main story content, and although I would like Dungeons in the next Pikmin game, I would like them better designed.
Conclusion
I am carefully optimistic for the next Pikmin game. These games scratch a mental itch no other series I've played can, and although I'm not a fan of games blatantly ripping unique concepts, it really sucks there's no "Pikmin-likes", because I would really love more of this type of game.
If you read this far, thankyou so much, this was really long. If you know any games that come close to replicating Pikmin's gameplay loop, please let me know in the notes. Also tell me what you want from Pikmin 4, I'm pretty damn excited for it.

finally beat pikmin 4 :}
spoilers under the cut as i ramble.
first off: my complaints.
biggest issue thats on my mind rn since it was effecting me just now in the final fight: if i throw my pikmin but they arent too far from me, they just come back to me??? i was trying to put them on a ledge so the final boss' heat wave wouldnt kill them. bc some of them like the purples werent thrown far, they kept coming back. that feature kind of sucks!
second: not sure why they made bootleg versions of pikmin 3 captains. i get why they werent in the game (though, they couldve been castaways with a side quest of gathering all the fruit treasures but, whatever) but i dont get why they needed bootleg versions. nelle couldve been an entirely different looking npc, yknow? one of them was even alph's brother...
third: caves werent nearly as long. aside from the final cave being 20 floors (and just like a boss rush for the most part, but also there were some like that in 2 so its fine) every cave was like 1-5 floors. i wouldve appreciated longer caves.. its definitely a possibility since you can choose which sublevel to go to after leaving a cave, so u dont have to do a long one entirely over.
also, the "only 3 pikmin at a time" was a little annoying. im glad you can have more than 3 types in a cave, at least, but you cant bring more than 3 with you which sucks. i get putting a limit, but i think a good limit wouldve been 5. 20 of each to have 100, like pikmin 2 and 3! also probably wouldve let caves be more interesting with more varieties to bring.
just a nitpick at this point but i don't quite understand the "existing enemy but just larger with no visual difference aside from size" trend. sovereign bulblax is slightly visually different, so i can accept that. but the jumbo bulborb and blowhogs, aside from different movesets, were just scaled up models. i think doing something to make them look a little different wouldve been nice, even if it was just a color difference or smth.
final complaint: i love glow pikmin but why must they replace bulbmin :{
the glow seeds are nice... but bulbmin are so everything to me. reserving glowmin 2 night time only and bulbmin in select caves wouldve been nice. i get it but also. i miss them....
---
ANYWAYS. complaints out of the way.
i thought i wouldnt like the "basically back to 1 captain" thing, but it was actually pretty good! oatchi is basically like a captain as well but with more capabilities, so i think it was pretty good. the upgrade system was also real nice imo!! with your character, oatchi and the onions, it was neat. it gives a better feeling of progression, and doesnt make things TOO easy from the beginning, getting as many red pikmin as possible to kill everything.
also i wasnt sold on the series reboot thing, but i think it works fine. i get having to reboot it to integrate the dogs into the story! (i still want to believe pikmin 3 will happen in this timeline sort of. i doubt olimar and louie would be present, but yknow.)
im also happy there were so many areas, and even with ~230 (239?) treasure types, i liked that there were a lot of repeats. without having to make so many different models, we got a ton of treasure to pick up.
the old bosses brought back were fun, too!! submerged castle 2 was really intense and fun. a little unsure why baldy long legs was back, but not shaggy... are they all permanently hairless now?
overall very good game. im not sure if its going to dethrone 2 as my favorite, but its certainly my 2nd fav! (3 being 3rd, 1 being 4th. 1 is very janky and unforgiving, so its just not as fun.)
the platforming elements brought in with the introduction of oatchi were really good. pikmin platforming.. its very cool and works really well! i was worried abt it, but honestly it wasnt too overdone, but not neglected at all. and better than pikmin sidescroller.
at this point, all i can hope for is maybe some free updates for the future... if not, hopefully a substantial dlc that would feel worth paying for. (the dlc for pikmin 3 was kind of a joke.)
dandori stages and battles, as well as night mode were kind of hard for me to adjust to, but once i got it figured out it was really satisfying. still not a big fan of vs dandori, but somehow i managed to at least get bronze and silver on the last 2 on my first try. night mode... that final stage was. a bit much. 2 proggs, 3 emperors i think it was? and a long legs??? it felt a little ridiculous, and i DID have to look up a guide, but i got it.
overall probably a 9/10 for me (even pikmin 2 isnt a 10/10, dont worry). its definitely the longest of pikmin games which i love, i was hoping for a super long game and it delivered pretty well! i think i spent close to 50 hours playing just one file to 100% completion. much better than the few hours you can spend playing pikmin 3.
now im going to start a new file, this time doing a no death run. i only lost 14 pikmin total, so i absolutely can do it!!

PIKMIN 4 BEATEN, TIME TO GIVE SOME THOUGHTS. SPOILERS ARE A GIVEN
NOTE: I have gotten all areas 100%, but have not finished Olimar's story or finished all the side missions.
Pros:
Honestly, probably 95% of the experience
After each game giving us on average 4ish areas of gameplay per game, Pikmin 4 has SIX whole areas. SIX! And none of them are like... small pseudo areas like Impact Site, Final Trial or Formidable Oak. They're ALL genuine explorable levels!
And good god, it is FUN to just be let loose in a level and get to explore it on our own! Gone is the railroading present in Pikmin 3 (and in small parts in Pikmin 2).
Everyone Is Here! (and they get their own onions too!! Though understandably the purples and white onions are locked behind some bonus content, which I haven't gotten to experience yet)
The amount of Pikmin 1 to 3 fan service is off the charts. For the most part, every single returning boss/enemy was handled in a really cool way, and even for Pikmin 2 veterans, they do manage to make the encounters feel unique.
The caves are a massive step up from 2 IMO. Now that we're no longer forced to bow to the whims of random dungeon generation, the level designs are allowed to stand out a lot more! There's also more of a focus on puzzle solving in a good chunk of the dungeons.
THAT GROOVY LONG LEGS FIGHT FUCKING RULES. I AM PUTTING THAT SONG ON LOOP. EASILY THE HIGHLIGHT IMO (even if the boss was beaten not too long after)
So many neat little quality of life improvements (pellets not switching when pikmin are beating it down, the little pause after you throw the minimum # of pikmin on an object, and honestly so many more I can't name)
I really like the item shop providing a way for ppl who struggle to make their life easier!
I found the game to be pretty decent difficulty wise tbh. Many have said it's easy, but you could absolutely do a minimal Oatchi/no items/no death run to kick it up a notch IMO. And Pikmin as a series thrives on replaying to beat your previous best, so I don't mind the "first playthrough" being a bit on the easier side
The Night missions were really neat! I think Tower Defense style gameplay suits Pikmin very well! Some of those later missions can become pretty rough if you don't have a good plan.
THE PROGG IS BACK, I REPEAT THE PROGG IS BACK. THAT FUCKER WAS HORRIFYING IN THE NIGHT MISSIONS
The final boss was really cool! Though only getting 5 reds and yellows was... weird. And I lost almost all of them in the fight. Still, super cool boss! I liked that it was more of an endurance round!
I really love that Oatchi and the captain have different properties, which means that sometimes you might want to bring one over the other in a given situation! ex: Oatchi can't go underwater, and the captain on their own can't swim
For the most part I think the order the Pikmin are introduced in is very solid! The Pikmin that were considered more game breaking, like Purple and Winged Pikmin, are only found near the end of the game.
Mud was such an unexpected hazard, but it's really cool!!! Water that captains can't traverse, that you need to use Winged or Ice Pikmin to navigate... (and maybe blues but I haven't really tested that one)
I liked the Moss patrolling and hearth gimmicks! They added something fresh and unique! I'm surprised that Primordial Thicket didn't have a noticeable Stage Gimmick but it was definitely still enjoyable!
While the caves do still absolutely have a majority of the treasures you find, I feel like the overworlds this time around give you more than enough content to explore, and don't feel barren in comparison to Pikmin 1 & 3, like 2 did!
Some cons:
Ice Pikmin... they're lil cuties and I love how their ice ability contrasts nicely with Blue Pikmin and Oatchi's swimming... but I actively tried to avoid using them for most battle encounters because they made them so easy. From the moment I saw them in the first trailer, they felt like Bitter Spray Pikmin and that was only confirmed to be true tbh. I kinda wish they would've been nerfed a bit ngl!
Now for one of my Big Two gripes: THE ENGULFED CASTLE IS SUCH A LAZY CAVE. Waterwraith comeback is really hype and all, but why oh WHY did they feel the need to literally port the cave from Pikmin 2, almost one-to-one??? It's such a baffling decision in a game that was otherwise really good about keeping its content fresh even if it was very steeped in Pikmin 2 fan-service. But nope, it had to be a straight-up copy. Why did they do the Waterwraith so dirty 😭 Its return in Cavern for a King was genuinely more interesting than the entirety of Submerged Engulfed Castle. The entire time I was playing through the cave I was just utterly unimpressed. Surprising low point in an otherwise solid set of caves IMO. The irony of my least fave Pikmin 4 cave being a port of the best cave from Pikmin 2 is not lost on me. It has "can I copy your homework?" "sure, just change it enough so ppl don't know it's copied" energy (except they forgot to change it). I didn't even mention how the cave title is just... thesaurus'd. Like bruh. Do better pls
Now for the genuine biggest issue I have with the game: the auto lock-on, which I thought was kinda neat at first. But with each passing day, the lock-on began proving itself to be more and more of a nuisance and a weirdly implemented feature. Trying to switch away from a targeted enemy when fighting a swarm of enemies is such a crapshoot, I can't count the number of times I was trying to throw Pikmin on another enemy, only to have my captain keep throwing on the current target, or just target a treasure nearby?? This is probably not helped by joycon drift issues tbh, and I'll have to try to get a New Controller and see if that helps. But I have an issue with this feature existing to begin with tbh; we already have a lock-on feature that we can toggle at will! Why does the game require Another lock on too?? Could you imagine a Zelda game where Link auto-targets every enemy he gets within range of? It's just annoying, and the lack of a toggle for this feature is genuinely baffling.
On a similar note... why oh WHY do the small mushrooms on mold not have targets?? It's such a weird issue; none of the other hazards have this issue.
Collin honey I love you but if you tell me to whistle a Pikmin back from hazards like a second after I already did, I will lose my shit
I don't really mind the chatty captains as much as many ppl do, but I absolutely do mind them constantly telling me what to do in every single situation ever. Some of the prompts can be helpful like "did a Pikmin die somewhere??", but you don't need to tell me that the weak spot is the tail. I KNOW. I'VE DONE THIS 5 TIMES ALREADY. PLEASE LET ME DO MY JOB
They put in another treasure that takes 1000 pikmin.... It wasn't quite as bad as the Doomsday Apparatus though, since you can go directly to a sublevel with many candypop buds unlike in Pikmin 2, and you CAN get the Purple Onion too (but it's so out of the way that you're better off just grinding tbh).
That Empress Bulblax fight in the last cave genuinely felt like something out of a Kaizo hack. It felt weirdly finicky and I had to restart a bunch of times because I was too slow to get on the geyser and 90% of my pikmin got squished. It's far more difficult than any other encounter in the rest of the cave and felt out of place.
Why they make you fight ouppy :(((((((( Moss bby I'm sorry
Some things I wish had been included (which may or may not exist in the 2% of game I have left to peruse)
After the story made such a big deal of all the captains that got shipwrecked on PNF-404, I am a bit disappointed that there was no meaningful explanation as to what makes shipwrecks so frequent? Or how Olimar got leaf'd to begin with? Or what the fuck Louie was doing to begin with?? Seriously wtf Louie??? (I'm just asking Nintendo to make the Umibozu theory canon /j)
Enemies respawning in the overworld. One of the things I loved doing in Pikmin 2 as a kid was going around after 100%ing the game and clearing the whole areas of all monsters to grow Pikmin, over and over again. It would've been fun to have that again in the game.
The co-op from Pikmin 3 Deluxe, obviously. The game being only 1 captain does make this a bit tricky, but I really thought they'd at least let someone else control Oatchi since he's basically a 2nd captain! I am more lenient on that though because of just how much content we got in Pikmin 4. I certainly won't give the game 1 star over it because that just feels really pointlessly petty??
I will however give the game 1 star for not giving us a level editor of any kind because I am pointlessly petty /j (Ok but seriously Nintendo if you give us a Pikmin 4 cave creator as DLC I will never ask for anything again)
SPOILERS END HERE
tl;dr: The auto lock on is a bit of an annoyance and really detracts from the fun at times, but I think I can safely say that this was my favorite game in the series. This is what Pikmin 2 could have always been, if it had been given better hardware/intentionally designed caves. It's probably the longest game in the series though, which might make repeat playthroughs a bit tougher to go through. But with how much fun I had, I might go for it!

new ask game send me a 🌻 and ill just tell you whatever the fuck i want
Nintendo is a bunch of pussies and deserved to be dragged for the fact they won't bring back the F-Zero franchise. Like, they say 'oh its hard to restore the brand when so many people like Mario Kart' but bro...I can think of so many ways to revive this shit from small to large. Here's a EASY way to garner attention to F-Zero. Listen closely--
PORT F-ZERO GX TO THE SWITCH
Bro, so many people are learning of old games like Banjo Kazooie just through virtual console. HELL THEY PORTED PIKMIN 1 AND 2 FOR THE PIKMIN 4 GAME!!!! There's no reason to do Capt. Falcon dirty like this.
There's a ton of people that just have shelves of racing games and it's not all just fucking Mario Kart (my boyfriend has so many of them I can't even count bro) so reviving F-Zerio wouldn't be so hard ESPECIALLY since it plays SO MUCH DIFFERENT from Mario Kart. Instead of relying solely on stats and luck with items and some skill, F-zero will force you to learn the track, carefully select a character and have them adapt to a cup or have a certain character for whatever cup you choose and you gotta rely on your wit and split second choices because if your ass don't know the lay out????? Youre flying the fuck off and DYING you will see your character crash and BURN violently and that goes hard as fuck. Speed is THE game here; your memory of the track gotta be second nature to guide you as you speed through that mfer.
And to add on the aesthetics of being far future with comic book esque heroes, villians, weirdos, aliens, assassians, AND LITERAL CAR SATAN is metal as FUCK. If you don't think that goes hard pls exit and head over to Weenie Hut Jrs.
But since it was developed by old Sega and Activision before they lost their competitive nerve we will probably never get anything like it again...(Or another good Monkey Ball, Space Channel 5, Jet Set Radio, etc etc...)
TD;LR: Nintendo is cowards bring back F-Zero I'm sorry Mario Kart is a classic but NOTHING makes your blood pump like a clutch ass race in F-Zero GX.
#ooc#bro I paid $72 for a new copy of this on the gamecube#my oldest sister got it for $20 before influencers decided to artifically hike up the price of old games >:(

Pikmin, Persona, Pokemon. Sonic's an honorable mention because it's so hard to choose between that and Pikmin, but with Pikmin 4 coming out, it takes priority.
The Sonic fandom is how I met one of my oldest friends. We met during a youth softball game, they were holding a tails plushie, and we started talking and the rest was history. There were so many sleepovers where we'd sit at the Wii, and load up one of the Mario & Sonic Olympic games. We both loved the dream trampoline event in the London 2012, but dream figure skating was a close second in Vancouver, along with dream snowboarding. I remember those interactive quizzes on Quotev, where there was a whole story about ending up in the Sonic universe and what hedgehog fell in love with you. I loved those stories. But one of my real introduction to the Sonic franchise was the Sonic X cartoons on Saturday morning. I'd beg my parents to record them, and I watched them whenever they aired live. My introduction to the Sonic games however, was with the ds version of Sonic colors. I saw it in kohl's, and it was 20 dollars. I begged my mom to get it for me, and after some hassling, she did. I remember getting stuck on the globetron fight for 15 minutes before I beat it. Ironically enough, the globetron fight was were I farmed extra lives, I got so good at it. I finished all the tropical resort missions, and it was the only zone I ever did that for. Gosh, I remember how teared up I was at the ending where yacker is telling the wisps about sonic. I was crying and so sad because I thought that yacker would never see sonic again. But when the wisps came back for later games, I was overjoyed! Even though yacker never really made another appearance, I was so happy to see the wisps again! And the ending and boss fight! I wasn't a big fan of the DS terminal velocity, but the final DS fight with the Nega Wisp Armor had me emotional as all heck, I don't even remember what I was feeling. That game was my childhood, and my 3ds has a bunch of hours on it for good damn reason. If one day, I don't have anyone, I'll still have Sonic and everything that he taught me. And I'll keep the blue blur in my memories until I'm gone from this earth.
Pikmin 3 deluxe has most of my replay time, simply because I just love playing it. The music is great, the visuals are awesome, and I enjoy it so much I did a presentation on the music for a college class of mine. It's just... soothing. And also stressed as heck on ultra spicy difficulty. But I love it. I'm always trying new things for my save files on it. I even tried speed running it. It's taught me better time and resource management skills than any class I've ever taken.
Persona... man what can I say? I started my introduction to the franchise with persona 5 strikers, and I'm getting royal's switch port soonish. The music really helped me survive a ton of stuff in my life, and I empathize so much with the themes of rebellion and questioning authority. I always loved the music. But it's the message that the game brings that really made it stand out for me. I was so excited to see the switch port for Persona 5 Royal, because we have an xbox, not a ps4 or ps5, which persona 5 was an exclusive for.
Pokemon. Ah, good old faithful. For background, my parents never let me watch or play and sort of pokemon media. They didn't like it, and they thought it would corrupt me. Well, I can't say they were wrong, but I learned more from pokemon than my parents ever thought. I learned a decent amount of my morals from pokemon, and that series taught me how to be kind, it taught me how to be compassionate to all living things, and it taught me how to be confident in the face of bad odds. I started my introduction to the anime with a snippet of the black and white anime, which I caught on public TV before my parents changed the channel, but I started my introduction to the games with Pokemon X. God(zilla), I will never forget Pokemon X and to this day I will tear up and cry hearing the theme of Professor Sycamore and the theme of Snowbelle city. Professor Sycamore was my introduction to the pokemon world, and he will be my favorite professor in Pokemon until the day I die. Then I got Sun and Moon, Alpha Sapphire and Ultra Moon, and Sword, and the franchise sucked me in. Nowadays, I don't have the luxury of time to keep up with pokemon, but I'll never forget the first memories of opening my 3ds to pokemon, and the wonderful adventures I found in the Kalos region.
Games have always been a big part of my life. I'm glad they've always been there for me.
Which one would you pick?

Pikmin: Global Survey: Alph(a Wraith)
So one of my friends wanted to make a bunch of shitpost nintendo game ideas for something and he accidentally timed it right at the start of my pikmin hyperfixation so i went way beyond it and accidentally just made an entire pikmin AU essentially, it was meant to be pikmin 5 (and beyond) but for the sake of not retroactive consequences when/if pikmin 5 comes out i will call it Pikmin: Global Survey because the plot is pikmin 4's research team (plus other people) trying to explore as much of PNF-404 as possible to study stuff
so i'll start talking about it with the darkest & most serious idea of them all that started as a series of jokes and ended as the set-up for one of the funniest ideas i've ever had, what happens to alph
when i was writing the google doc from before i was taking this even remotely seriously i just wrote in the character section "Alph is dead." to explain why i brought back brittany and only brittany besides her just being my favorite of the koppaites (there was an entire gag planned where charlie was busy in a war in pikmin 5, mentioned being MIA in pikmin 6 and then pikmin 7's credits shows he's somehow on PNF-404 like pikmin 4 does with louie but that's the end of the series so he never gets an actual role), but then i realized i could work with that and it spiraled from dumb joke to extremely screwed up plotline
so the idea became like, for whatever reason koppai is going through a civil war after pikmin 3 (which i think takes place after pikmin 4 and i will treat it as such), and one of the sides decides to go to PNF-404 because they don't want to be in koppai anymore and they know there's food there as you can tell they didn't really think about it, and among other people charlie & alph are sent to get them to not do that but those 2 in particular are incredibly terrified of what's going to happen to all those people because they've seen all sorts of monsters, the plasm wraith in specific being yea, and given that they had siblings in pikmin 4 they could've heard about other shit like the water wraith which doesn't help
go fucking figure they crash, and alph and his ship lands right in front of the formidable oak (no idea where the other crew members went and it doesn't matter), and he's obviously panicking, and then the plasm wraith rears up behind him, clearly remembering him as one of the people who took olimar, and skewers him
with such a death you won't be surprised he comes back as a ghost, specifically the Alpha Wraith (i don't know if he counts as an actual wraith but what else would you call him, the Alpha Spirit? ...wait that doesn't sound bad actually), which is a bunch of concentrated alpha radiation (i love puns... does that count as a pun i don't know definitions) vaguely in the shape of a monster soul but with alph's face, hair and ears (but made of the radiation still obviously), and since he was the keen engineer in life he can control machinery & metal in general (he can probably like levitate metal around and assemble it into stuff but i haven't thought about it enough) but inhabiting anything for too long causes it to rust so he constantly has to jump around or stay vessel-less (i looked it up and radiation can actually cause rust but idk the details), but he obviously would prefer not just hanging out because radiation, if someone touches him that'd be bad, and by the time the research team finds him he's completely destroyed the spaceship he showed up with and i haven't figured the rest out from there besides him joining the team sorta lol but brittany is obviously very conflicted about the news because on one hand alph is dead but on the other hand he still exists sorta (but can't be taken out of pnf-404 because of course)
now for the actual reason i'm posting this, all of that leads up to this one idea for a gag comic that i was mentally assaulted with that i unfortunately cannot bring to fruition, where like, alph is obviously still not on good terms with louie after pikmin 3, so louie walks into whatever ship he's using and watches in terror as it begins to read out AM's hate monologue from I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream, louie stares up in terror with his horrible bulging eyes, while alph & brittany lose their shit in a nearby bush watching this happen
so this is a desperate attempt to see if anyone sees this and brings that to life because if you were there at the time and saw my reaction when that specific thought formulated in my brain it'd look like a ghost strangled me but if you saw my oatchi wraith post you know i am not particularly capable of creating it myself, so here we go
if anyone is interested in more ideas from this entire au almost-fanfic thingy whatever you'd call it i have a lot more to talk about with this idea but i don't think much of it is anywhere close to alph's part in most departments lol, sorry for the rambling & tangents but if you thought i was rambling too much in this post you're really in for it when/if i get into the other plot points

(63-64) Pikmin 4 / Olimar's Shipwreck Tale
It has been 8 long years since Pikmin 4 was “almost complete.” It still feels unreal that I can say that I played and finished Pikmin 4. It's a great game but it’s not close to being my favorite in the series.
It's what I expected it to be, Pikmin 2 but better. The only issue is that I never liked 2 as much as the rest of the games. It takes away the time management element of the series, which is why I loved the first and third games. Pikmin feels less enjoyable without it, at least to me.
Caves have been brought back, and they're pretty good here. Pikmin's 2 caves sucked, mainly because of all the bullshit thrown at you. Pikmin 4 tones it down which I greatly appreciate. They feel way better designed compared to 2 due to the addition of puzzles to solve and layouts that don't feel randomly generated.
Dandori battles are weird. Not the Pikmin 3 mission mode ones. Those are great and are still insanely replayable. I mean the CPU battles. They're fun, but way too easy. The CPUs are dumb so it's barely a challenge to win. In fact, one of the ways they tried to make them harder is to just give the CPU way more Pikmin so they can have a fighting chance against me.
Night mode was surprisingly more enjoyable than I expected. I was really disappointed that they made night mode into its own separate mode instead of incorporating it into the main game. I still wish it was that, but turning Pikmin into a zombie horde mode was way more fun than I expected. Some of the later missions get really tough and they even threw in bosses exclusive to that mode to add even more chaos.
The one big disappointment I have with Pikmin 4 is the music. It's really forgettable. As I'm writing this I can't remember a single music track that wasn't ripped from a previous game. I had a feeling the music would be like this after the demo, but I hoped the later areas would have more exciting tracks. But nope! It's just generic-sounding atmospheric tracks that have plagued Nintendo games since Breath of the Wild's release.
Now while most of the issues I have with this game are minor and barely affect the actual game, there is one problem that I can not tolerate. The auto lock is awful and caused so many preventable Pikmin deaths. It would always switch targets while I'm trying to do something and it's the most infuriating thing ever. The previous games' controls were fine, so I don't get why they made playing this game such a pain in the ass sometimes.
So overall, did the 8 years feel worth it? Of course it did. I got exactly what I expected. It may not be my favorite game in the series, but that doesn't even matter. I had a great time with 4 despite my problems with it.
Now Nintendo better not announce Pikmin 5 until the game is ready to release! I don't want to relive the nightmare that was waiting for this game to come out.

...
....
....
Now onto this game's side mode, which I personally consider to be its own separate game!
Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is the biggest surprise this game gave. It brings back the time limit from Pikmin 1 which genuinely shocked me when I found out. I thought Nintendo would never bring that back due to people finding it too stress-inducing. But they did and I couldn't be happier.
Now like Pikmin 1, it's not too strict. I had a few days left to spare when I finished it. Here's the thing just the inclusion of the time limit completely changes how I play the game. Every decision I make feels important because you have to make sure you don’t waste a lot of time. It also encourages me to replay the mode to master it, seeing how few days I need to beat it. I honestly see myself replaying the mode multiple times which I can't say for the main game.
This music in this mode is also weirdly great! The music actually feels like Pikmin music. I don't know why they shoved all the good music into the side mode, but hey I'm not complaining. I'm gonna be playing this mode more often anyways so I'm glad the good music is here. They even brought the boss theme from Pikmin 2 back! It's the remix from 3... but it's still better than the main game's boss theme!
They also brought back Swarm from Pikmin 1 and 2! It works exactly the same as it used to! It makes gathering things so much more convenient since I don't have to rely on the awful lock-on. It's weird how the base game doesn't have Swarm available to you. But hey it's another reason this mode is better.
I don't know if preferring Olimar's shipwreck tale over the base game is unpopular or not, but whatever. I think it's great and now joins Pikmin 3 and 1 as games I consistently replay whenever I am in the mood for it.

Note: This post is adding on to a Supper Mario Broth blog tweet. Feel free to visit the attached link to view it.
Supper Mario Broth On the My Nintendo website, the user's Mii will be engaged in a random activity on the top of the page. One of them is painting; clicking the Mii will reveal one of 8 paintings that appear with varying rarities, 5 of which are related to the Mario series.
This is not where the Mario references end in the "Mii Stage", as the My Nintendo website calls it internally. (Since I could not find this section of the My Nintendo website referring to it by any specific name elsewhere, this is what I will be calling it from now on.) There are many more to be found in the activities acted out by the Miis. Of course, it seems many qualities of My Nintendo are based off the Mario universe - the logo is shaped like Mario's hat, the platinum points have a Super Mushroom on them, and the gold points have a Super Star on them. However, the references go deeper than that.
But first, you’ll need a Mii. If you do not have a Mii in your Mii Studio, this sign will be sitting in the middle of the Mii Stage, bouncing up and down occasionally. Clicking on it takes you to my.nintendo.com/mii, which redirects to studio.mii.nintendo.com, the Mii Studio. This event is called “Mii unset”.
Here’s the full sprite, extracted from the (US English) site data:
And now, from the original tweet that sparked this post, here are all eight paintings extracted from the website data, thus being the highest quality versions of them.
Additionally, a behavior in this activity that was not mentioned by Supper Mario Broth (due to it not pertaining to any Mario reference in particular) is that while the Mii is painting, they will stop and think every three to four seconds. And once they are clicked on and present their painting, they'll assume a proud pose.
And here are the sprites extracted from the site:
As mentioned, the "easel" activity is not the only one to contain references to the Mario universe. The next one is the most interesting, known as "game". This activity has the user Mii playing a video game on one of three randomly chosen systems (technically four, as I'll explain in a moment): a NES, a SNES, or a Nintendo Switch. The game they're playing is randomly chosen depending on the system. Clicking the Mii will turn off the game, and the Mii will turn around furious until you click again to turn it back on, where the Mii will resume playing. The possible games on the NES are Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, and Ice Climbers.
The games on SNES are Super Mario World, Super Metroid, and Super Mario Kart.
The Nintendo Switch only has one game, Splatoon 2, and unlike the other games, the image on the screen isn't a regular in-game screenshot, but a promotional screenshot for the game.
Unfortunately, due to how the files work for this event, I can not be sure there isn't some extremely rare game I simply haven't come across yet. However, I can say that I spent a good few hours refreshing the page and didn't come across any more, so I believe it's safe to say there aren't any.
Now, 7 games may seem like an odd number, but in fact, there are 10. Take a look at the extracted sprites here.
Notice how you can see all the available systems here - the NES, SNES, Switch, and one more: the Famicom. The images that appear on the Famicom's screen are exactly the same as the NES ones, but are still stored as separate images, bringing the total to a round 10. If you live outside of Japan, you will likely never encounter the Famicom sprites. They only appear when you're logging in from Japan, and the NES ones will then also not show up any longer. However, I am based in the US, and couldn't get these sprites to load. This isn't the first time Nintendo has done this NES/Famicom location-based swap, either. It's happened many times before, even in Wii Music with the NES horn instrument. Instead, an anonymous user was able to help collect screenshots of the Famicom using CPU Mii Abby.
Next is the balloon activity. Here, the user Mii will be tied to three balloons, and flailing in a panic.
Clicking them once will pop the blue balloon, clicking them a second time will pop the red balloon, and clicking a third time will pop the yellow balloon, and the Mii will fall. Once it lands, it will strike a landing pose.
However, on a rare occasion, the yellow balloon will be replaced with a Boo enemy.
The first two balloons will function normally, but clicking on the Boo will instead make it fade and float away instead of pop.
Another rare event can happen once per day. Similar to the Boo, the yellow balloon will be replaced with a platinum point balloon, along with a thought bubble containing a platinum coin, and popping it will reward the user some platinum points.
However, whenever they land, they will instead strike a different pose, and hold a platinum coin.
The stage will then fade to white and the user will be rewarded with 10 platinum points. Here’s the extracted sprites:
Next, we have the fishing activity. Sometimes when this is encountered, the user Mii will have a thought bubble with a platinum point inside.
Though most of the time, the Mii will not have the thought bubble.
Every now and then, the user Mii will make a surprised face. If the user clicks the Mii during this time, then they will catch something.
If the user clicks the Mii any other time, the Mii will attempt to catch something anyways, but will pull up with nothing. Clicking again will make the Mii put their line back in the water.
If the Mii catches something with a thought bubble over their head, they will catch 10 Platinum Points.
Failing to nab a successful catch with the thought bubble over their head will not result in any penalty.
Any other time, a randomly selected object from these four will be caught instead. The first object is a boot.
The rest of the objects are Mario-related, starting with the Cheep Cheep enemy.
The next is the Blooper enemy.
And the last is Mario's cap.
Here's a dump of all of the sprites.
And last for Mario references, the "plant" activity. This one contains the rarest event of them all, along with a Pikmin reference. The most common event for this activity is a basic looking plant.
You can click on the user Mii to water the plant as many times as you'd like, but nothing will happen. The plant will just bounce in a small animation.
Here are all of the normal plant's sprites in its animations.
A rarer event can occur in this activity where instead of a basic-looking plant, a red Pikmin head will appear instead.
Like the plant, you can water the Pikmin as many times as you'd like. However, whenever you water it, it will peek its head out for a bit, also spraying some dirt particles.
Here are all of the Pikmin's sprites in its animations.
And lastly, the rarest event I've seen in the Mii Stage.
This plant may appear empty, but once you water it...
...a vine from Super Mario Bros. will sprout out from the pot, and won't stop until it's off the top of the screen.
Here is the image used for the vine.
And here is a dump of all of the other sprites in this activity.
But we've made it this far. Why stop at the activities with Mario references and just talk about all of the Mii Stage activities? There's only three left, so let's get through them!
In this activity, your Mii will appear holding either a red or black 3DS. Clicking them will cause them to disappear in a puff of smoke, and teleport somewhere else on the Stage. This is seemingly all it does.
There's this one where your Mii will appear on a ladder wiping down the gold points jar with a cloth.
Normally, your Mii will appear behind the jar, but sometimes will appear in front of the jar instead.
This activity doesn't seem to do anything, as attempting to click on your Mii will simply bring up the gold points menu as if your Mii wasn't there.
And lastly, the first activity many will see that appears weekly. The user Mii will run from the left and right sides of the screen, chasing a rolling platinum coin.
Clicking it will reward you with your weekly sign-in bonus of 30 platinum points, and the user Mii will dance in place, holding a platinum coin.
Here is a dump of all the sprites for the weekly activity, mostly consisting of Mii (female, lime green) animation poses:
And to close this lengthy post out, here are the loading sprites for the Mii Stage...
...And my recreation in .gif form.
Thank you for reading.

Checkpoint and important updates 2!!: Electric boogaloo!!
Heyo guys!! Long time no talk. So, I’ve got some cool update stuff to show you guys. I’ve been doing a lot of blog “housekeeping” since the end of the last event. (don’t worry it hopefully won’t be boring update stuff lmao as it includes some new supplementary content). So, first and foremost, thanks to the inspiration from @koppais-smallest-nerd I’d like to let you guys know that I am now adding screen reader access to all future posts!!! This one included. At the bottom of each post under the, “read more”, image descriptions for all images will be added! Screen reader accessibility will also be added to all previous asks on the blog. However, getting through all of them will take a tiny bit. As, of this update, the first 4 asks have had image descriptions added. As well as all the supplementary content in between where applicable.
I’d also like to show you guys some supplementary content for the blog. Between these dashed lines are in character day 1 log entries written by the rest of the crew.
———————————————
———————————————
I originally wasn’t sure if I wanted to put these extra day 1 logs on the main blog or not. But, I’ve decided that all supplementary content that may be story related will remain on the main blog for the foreseeable future, while BTS content will end up on PNF-404-Plus.
That being said since the end of the 1st event and my time away from the blog a lot has been going on when it comes to the blog.
For one the entire desktop version of the blog has had a large overhaul. A new theme has been added to the main page.
But, not only that but new side pages with supplementary content have been added!! This includes an event list, a bio page for the crew members of the S.S Drake, a Piklopedia page for the new Piklopedia, and a music page to top it all off!!
The Event List will show each new event as they are added! You can click on the current known events to go directly to all posts tagged with that event tag. Speaking of which all Event 01 posts have now had their tags updated with the Event 01 tag making it much easier to navigate.
The new Crew Members page has bios for all the members currently on the mission or known in the story so far! These Bios are pretty in line with cannon with some fanon, and light headcanon added in for good measure. I recommend taking a look as it does have some interesting info in there. Also quick note: all of these bios are written as if it is prior to the beginning of the blog.
Then there’s the Piklopedia!! Here you can read each of their findings as they explore PNF-404! Currently the findings will be on each area they explore (not each creature they find) as they haven’t found any new creatures yet. There is also a map of places they’ve discovered and more!
Lastly, a new music page has been added. On this page, I’ve created event-inspired music playlists. Some of the songs have been mentioned in the past. But, here you can listen to them all in one place and see which songs are for which part of the events. As well there’s a secret songs playlist. This playlist has nothing to do with the blog directly but is filled with music given to me by people I’ve met from this community while I’ve been here!! Currently, there are 5 songs there, however, there will be more added in the future! What makes it secret is that you won’t know who gave me the song XD. (well unless you’re the one who gave me the song lmao) who knows if you’ve ever shared music with me before you may find your song there!! (There is also one song I’m sharing with you guys in there too so have fun figuring that out lmao. )
As well the table of contents has been once again updated with a lot of this new stuff as well as some other new information!! As for mobile users as of now, all of this is on separate Tumblr pages. However, in the near future, I will be uploading much of this stuff , such as the Piklopedia entries and Crew Bio’s, as individual posts! However, in the meantime, if you feel like you can always check out these pages on your phone browser instead if you’re a mobile-exclusive user. (Though some pages don’t look as good on phone)
Welp, I think that’s it as far as updates go!! I should be back with brand new ask posts soon (likely within the next week or so!) so keep a look out!! I’ll see ya guys again soon and thanks for reading!!!
{{ Screen reader image description is under “read more”}}
In the first image, Alph’s Day 1 Log entry is shown. His log says, “To think I thought the first day would go well. Then again I didn’t think I would get sucked out of the ship either so maybe I should stop being so surprised. At the very least Louie and I were able to find our way back despite some obstacles and I was able to fix the ship in time. Though if it weren’t for Chunks we would have never found the pikmin we did. That little guy sure saved the day.
However, Then there's what happened to Brittany… To see her in a situation like that... I can’t even bear to think about it. Tomorrow I will be checking over the entirety of the Drake to make sure a crash like that doesn't happen again. I can't help but think that the crash was due to me overlooking something during maintenance... However, The only thing I can do now is to make sure something like this never happens again for all our sake, especially Brittanys’. “ It is then sighed by Alph
In the second Image Charlies Day 1 Log entry can be read it says, “I should have been on top of things. As this crew’s captain, everything that went wrong was under my watch and things should have gone much smoother. That being said I am very glad that all of my crew have made it out alive. Though I am still worried about Brittany. If only I was able to keep her safe…
But, at this point, we all must press forward. We have a task to complete and after seeing how devastated some areas are, we must get to the bottom of what’s wrong with PNF-404. Nothing will get in my way, not with my steely fists that is!!” It is then signed by Charlie
In the third image Louies’ day 1 log entry can be seen it says,
“
Going back to the pikmin planet wasn’t at the top of my list of things I thought I’d be doing anytime soon. Yet somehow I find myself back here and stranded again…. At least I wasn’t fully alone this time…
Alph and I eventually found a pikmin that we later named Chunks. He sure acts differently in comparison to any other Pikmin I’ve seen before. But, even still, if it weren’t for Chunks, we wouldn’t have been able to help Brittany or find any other pikmin for that matter. So, we should thank him for that.” It is then signed by Louie
In the fourth image the updated version of the Project: PNF-404 Tumblr is shown. It now has a bright cyan futuristic aesthetic to it. In the fifth image a picture of the new events page, listing all the past and future events planned so far is shown. It has 1 known event Titled Event 01. The other 3 are titled Event unknown. In the sixth image, the new crew members’ character page is shown. A picture of Olimar is shown along with a description of his traits and a biography. It reads as follows,
CAPTAIN OLIMAR
AGE 38
ALIAS(ES)Olimar
SPECIES Hocotatian
GENDER Male
TITLE(S) Employee of Hocotate Freight, Xenobiologist
AFFILIATION Hocotate Freight, Planet Hocotate Government
Fatherly, well-meaning, and resourceful, for an almost 40 year old Hocotatian he has a lot of bravery and guts. Olimar first and foremost loves his family and cares deeply for others around him. A Hardworking employee of Hocotate Freight and family man, Olimar tends to try and stay level-headed while looking out for others.
Having been one of the first to visit the Pikmin planet Olimar has extensive knowledge of the planet's life. Lucky for him he just so happens to have gone to college for xenobiology. Many of his findings can be found within his many log entries known as the Piklopedia.
But, for as much as Olimar tends to be on top of things, his trips to the pikmin planet have had him face many dangers and life-threatening events. Though these issues are not something he brings up…
In the seventh image, The new Piklopidea page is shown, In one section it displays a map of PNF-404 with 2 marked locations. The first of which is highlighted in blue is named the “Silent Stream” the second, is highlighted in orange, Its title is “Glacial Gardens”. To the right of that is a description introduction for the Piklopedia. It says” To help ensure the progress and success of this mission all crew members must write down their findings in this log. Overview:
CAPTAIN Olimar: Writes In-depth biological analysis of fauna and how the ecosystem affects said fauna.
LOUIE: Writes about Recipes and ingredients that can be found in each area. ALPH: Looks at the area with the eyes of an engineer. He uses this insight to discuss the benefits and flaws of what he’s analyzing. BRITTANY: Uses her botanist skills to look into the flora of the area along with talking about the aesthetics of things and adding in her own general opinions.
CAPTAIN CHARLIE: Writes about combat strategy and how one can use the environment in an area for a tactical advantage.
To the left is a map showing the current locations discovered by the crew. The one highlighted in orange has yet to be explored.
The final image shows the new music page! 6 playlists can be selected on the left each having 5 songs. To the right is an image of the event 01 cover art. With (from left to right), Brittnay, Charlie, Olimar, Louie, and Alph all looking up with a distressed expression on their faces.

Ducktales: New Gods On The Block! Review or THE INCREDIBLE STORKULES: COCKBLOCKER OUT OF MYTH!
We’re back, and i’m doing away with intros, for now, i’m trying to see if offering people a bit of the review makes them more receptive to reading it and now we’re nearing the end of this hellyear, and the trump presdency, i’m going into this one with a ton of energy, so let’s get quackin!
We open with the Scrooge and Kids on a quest to get a golden helmet he’s been after for years and has been one of his lifelong goals using a carefully crafted plan with all the kids skills needed. Okay i’ll admit that last part is unique to this show: given how interchangable the boys are outside of this continuity, I assume he’d just throw them at the monster like Pikmin as a distraction while Donald grabbed the helmet and just grow new ones in his vast venture bro style clone mine if they happen to die. Thankfully there’s no Child Death but there is Child Failure as the team comes back sad and defeated and doubting themselves.. Della having a confetti cannon ready to celebrate dosen’t help. Though it does bring me to the subject of Della being out of focus this season. It’s a mixed bag for me: On the one hand I do get it, as she was the main focus of last season, even more than Louie, and now we’ve gotten to know her, she can sit back and play more of a supporting role, especially since Donald , who himself was more of a supporting character the past two seasons, is now getting more screentime and Beakly’s getting fleshed out more. Their trying to balance a rather massive cast, so it’s natural the one whose already got a ton of focus at this point would take a back seat and all around the show’s done a far better job giving everyone screentime this season. Launchpad has been lacking of late but given a Darkwing Duck spinoff is probably in the cards, and he’s had tons of episodes at this point compared to Donald and Beakly, i’m understanding of it.
On the other.. there’s still a lot of stories to tell with her: We still haven’t had her deal with Scrooge basically erasing her for a decade at all nor Donald hiding her past from the kids.. he had reason and all, but he still made their mother a stranger to them. They had no stories, nothing to really go on for 10 years. That’s gotta have impacted both the kids and gotta hit della hard at some point that her father-uncle and brother both just kinda.. erased her to the kids. Plus we don’t know how she’s been adjusting to have a life OUTSIDE the kids especially since she’s been sitting out so many adventures, likely to let Scrooge have time with them and be a good daughter and mother and what not, but still there’s a LOT of ground to cover they simply haven’t yet. The Donald and Della plot we did get, while glorious, didn’t really add anything to either’s likely strained relationship and it’d be nice to give the two a subplot to work this out. Granted this might all be coming in the Castle McDuck Episode for all I know, but I can’t pin all my hopes and dreams on that one. And this all COULD’VE easily happened off screen.. but it’s something the audience really wants and needs. I’m not sure if we’re getting it and that worries me. But again theirs a large chunk of the season to answer this if this is the last one, and another season possible if it’s not, so i’m willing to wait for it. I’m just getting impatient is all.
That being said this episode makes up for the Della Deficet as she’s one of the main driving forces of this side of the episode. I’ll get into that more in a second but Della’s been on the rare misfire adventure and knows Scrooge’s stages of grief and that he’ll come out of it with a better plan. Unfortunately for the kids that plan dosen’t include them and Scrooge runs off to assemble a better team leaving the kids utterly devastated. One of the other main driving forces besides depressed children and the greek gods is scrooge being really bad with people, but i’ll get to that.
Point is the kids understandable emotional devastation and Della trying to mom for all of them at once because Launchpad had to get to his other job and is taking Beakly this weak to teach him and Drake how to raise a child, is interrupted by said Zeus ASSHAT RAPIST OUT OF MYTH! Along with Storkules COCKBLOCKER OUT OF MYTH and Selene, DELLA’S FIRST TIME WITH A WOMAN OUT OF MYTH! There here because Zeus has lost his powers, as the Gods all collectively decided he was a dick and voted him out of office.. er stripped him of his powers. Sorry an asshole, narcacistic, sociopathic racist getting removed from his position of power happening a few days after the election was called.. the timing just could not have been better. But yeah Zeus is out, roll credits. Join me after them and after the cut for the rest of the review.
So yeah the Gods are fed up with him, and Selene and Storkules are there to pick a worthy inheritor to his Laurel Wreath, his lighting bolts, and his collection of playboys he keeps alphabatized in his mancave.. also his mancave will also go to the winner. Storkules however, having a one track mind, notices Donald isn’t there and goes to find him. The kids are all eager to try but Selene is there for Della, which they all agree makes sense: I mean she has the disposition and sexual appitite of a green god but without all the rampant sex crimes and murder, and given most of them have clearly copped to the times except Zeus, that’s a plus. Plus she and Selene have already been together before so the fact they can smooch into infinity along with all the fun stuff is a nice bonus. It’s not like Storkules isn’t selecting his candiate soley with his 13 inch penis, so ther’es a precident. But Della, seeing the kids clearly need this more than she does, convinces her once and future girlfriend to let them try out. I really do wish we got more of the two this episode but what we get is great, and Selene reluctantly agrees after Della makes the valid point their STILL more mature than her dad. The fact Zeus punctuates this by getting into a “No you” contest with an 11-12 year old probably helped. As for where Donald is he’s preparing for a date with Daisy! Horay. I’ve been waiting for Daisy to come back since the last time she was here, and Donald has naturally been considerate: Setting up a bunch of hearts, flowers, some punch that is likely just box wine and sprite, he has a budget and throwing all his garbage in the pool with bricks because he’s still Donald. Romantic, a good dad.. but still a disaster of a person who dosen’t know quite how to live like an adult... which naturally I immensely relate to and hope i’m lucky enough one day to have a lady or fella to hide all my garbage from. I mean i’m probably dying alone, but that’s likely my old buddy crippling depression talking. Oh you old scamp.. please fuck off an die. But enough chilling looks into my psyche, point is Storkules barges in to ruin it, and eat his carefully made grilled cheese. As though Storkules may be incredible he’s also STORKULES, GOD OF NOT REALLY READING THE ROOM. Daisy comes in, and we find out it’s their second date.. and i’m assuming their first wasn’t that time they ended up in a direct to video sequel to Die Hard that’s still far better than Die Hard 5.. then again a colonoscopy is preferable to that movie so I Dunno. But she’s nice, friendly, if put off by the big sweaty man suddenly in their date. Storkules COCKBLOCKER OUT OF MYTH, does not help matters by, upon hearing that seeing how in love they are, and finding out it’s the second date assumes their getting married and hugs them in THE SWEATY ABS OF STORKULES. Do me next.
Back at the God Tests, god I love a job-ish thing that lets me say that, Louie is up first, and being Louie has thought up a plan that benifets him wether he wins or looses but one that has serious underlying issues he hasn’t thought of. Naturally it turns out to be a gold touch which, as with Midas, works out about as well as you’d expect.. with Dog Murder and mass murder to follow. Selene undoes it, So Louie gets nothing. And yeah this has been a major issue this season that while I talked about it back in “Let’s Get Dangerous” bares repeating: Louie feels like he learned NOTHING from the events of last season. He still likes, he still dosen’t think plans through, and he still cheats. In contrast Dewey DID grow from his season.. it’s subtle, he’s still the same loveable trainwreck and pre-teen Hank Venture he’s always been, but he no longer hides secrets or family stuff and is more of a team player. Still an egotsitical one, but it’s there. But Louie.. hasn’t changed at all. He’s still conviving, still thinks only in short term.. it’s only once or twice like with the Impossibin the events of last year really seem to have sunk in. It feels like the writer’s couldn’t figure out how to write a smarter Louie and just gave up. It’s really disheartning especially when most other character development, subtle and otherwise, sticks.
While Huey sweats over his turn and Della tries to encourage, we cut back to the date which is going okay, Daisy’s trying to roll with it but Storkules, TERRIBLE WINGMAN OUT OF MYTH really isn’t good at talking Donald up or letting them get to know one another. While things breifly get better when Daisy brings up her career and Donald talks it up like the loving soon to be boyfriend he is, Storkules FUCKUP OUT OF MYTH screws things up by saying, when she explains to him she hasn’t made any Toga’s because she works primarily in dresses that she can “work up to them eventually. “ As proof this is the best Daisy she dosen’t dump Donald immidetly despite none of this being his fault and him trying to explain he didn’t invite him, but instead just makes an angry, and understandably so , face and goes to powder her beak.. which is clearly code for “Scream Obscenities into Donald’s Mirror for the next ten minutes”. Which if it already wasn’t abundantly clear they were perfect for each other this would be the clincher. Donald wants Storkules to go and TRIES to tell him, but Storkules just assumes he wants him to make a big romantic gesture for them and goes to “let Cupid’s Arrow” strike her. Donald understandably wants conformation he doesn’t mean that literally. Spoiler alert: He does.
IT’s Huey’s turn next at playing god and he decides to be God of Intuition, gaining future sight so he can know everything and prevent tragedy. We instead get a damn funny scene where after adjusting to his powers he tries to prevent a breakup.. only to play both parts himself and cause it anyway. Just some great acting from Danny Pudi there. We get some more as Huey slowly melts down from the information, traumatizing a kid and nearly getting beat up with a guy who wants to “Beat up the freak for making everyone uncomfortable” which..
Yeah it’s not acceptable for what looks like a grown adult, or even a Teenager if that was an intent, to whale on a CHILD, let alone ANYONE for being “a Freak”. I mean yes Huey did screw up big, not mass murder bit but still.. but he’s still a fucking child. As someone who was prone to breakdowns at that age, and up to present day... I take this personally, especially since I see Huey as high functioning autsitic. So this hits home as i’ve had many people just tell me to get over it instead of trying to help. So yeah fuck this guy, take off that Gizmoduck shirt you do not deserve it. We fans do though, I hope that becomes real merch.
But yeah Huey failed and Zeus is gloating..mostly because in his already considerably warped brain, he thinks that if they all fail he dosen’t get it. Selene explains basic logic to him: If they fail to find a new god here, they’ll just keep looking. Zeus naturally has a tantrum as Scrooge enters, wondering why the kids care about god powers and Della, being a supportive mom, tries to get him to encourage them. He instead focuses on his team. Again, we’ll get to him trust me. Selene also calls her dad out on the fact he hasn’t done anything good since defeating the titans centuries ago. Naturally being THE GREATEST SHITHEAD IN ALL OF GREEK MYTHOLOGY Zeus takes the exact wrong lesson from this and calls his brother Hades to whip up a titan for him to fight because that was her point and not that your an irredemible dick tip who their desperate to replace and who was dethroned because no one liked you, not even your horrible presumibly now ex wife. I mean unlike DC Comics Zeus he’s not planning a cou but only because he has no powers. Hades however is well aware his brother has no powers, as the gods have been talking about it and laughing about it because Zeus sucks eggs. Also Hades has a great goth look and personality here as well as muscular arms to hold my bi ass at night. A-Plus character design. I may also have a thing for goths and emos I never realized I had. Just an observation.
Back at the boat Donald and Daisy are enjoying drinks, which again has to be wine.. I mean again box wine, Donald needs a lot of booze after a hard days nearly getting murdered and Costco has great deals on it, but still booze. They cuddle a bit and it’s fucking adorable.. and Storkules WHO JUST KIDDNAPED HIS COUSIN CUPID AND STOLE HIS SHIT naturally ruins this moment by first trying to fire one date rape arrow at them, then takes donald’s rampant headshaking no as a sign to fire all of the arrows... with Daisy ending up in the water and unsettling the garbage. Granted Donald COULD’VE prevented this by explaning things to her.. but i’m betting he didn’t simply because he’s.. tired of this shit. He’s tired of adventure, tired of it intruding on his life and just hoped Storkules was gone and out of sight and didn’t have a chance to prepare for that till it was too late. NOW Daisy storms off.. but unlike say Cabs Daisy, whose a living nightmare, or Comic Daisy, whose not a great person but has her moments depending on the comic, she has VALID REASON. Donald lied to her about garbage and dind’t just take it out like a normal Duck, and didn’t just outright yell at his friend to leave on their date, a friend who just attacked her and already insulted her. IT’s understandable, especailly given a line coming up she’d WANT to leave and leave Donald behind. Donald however is naturally miserable and it finally gets through Storkules thick skull he messed up and he runs off to cry while Donald miserably floats among the garbage and my heart both relates to that nad breaks seeing it. I mean .. Daisy meant a lot to him: After years of presumibly avoiding dating, or if he did not doing so for long, to focus on the boys, after a year of putting their needs ahead of his and living with his demanding uncle, of being dragged out of a normal if miserable life and into a less miersable but adventerous one he didn’t want, of being stranded in space and on an island wondering if his kids would be okay.. he finally not only has time for himself, and his sister back after years of thinking her dead and thus someone else to take care of the kids needs for a while without feeling any guilt over it or worrying about them, but found someone special. She’s talented, beautiful, charming, and understanding. And most importanlty she LISTENS to him and throughly likes Donald for who he is. And he looses that only PARTLY due to his won incomptence but mostly because someone he already barely allows in his life came in and ruined it. Once again the adventure and everything took something from him and while not nearly as big as loosing his sister, it still fucking hurts to once again have one small bit of something just for himself, one bit of normalcy, one person who loves him for who he is now through and through.. and it’s seemingly gone. It’s why I like this relationship even if this part panes me: Donald can FINALLY be happy... finally have someone who genuinely cares about him. This also boils down Storkules character and why I don’t ship the two of them: He’s a good god, he’s brave, compasionate, carring, and generally wants the best for donald and does genuinely love him.. but he also dosen’t care really what DONALD wants half the time. He’s the embodiment of Donald’s biggest gripe with his life: No one listens to or repsects him or what he wants. Storkules wants Donald the adventurer, Donald the brave, Donald the undaunted, DONALD THE IDEALIZED VERSION THAT ONLY EXISTS IN HIS HEAD. He dosen’t really get Donald isn’t the same person, and even that person wasn’t into him. Not because he’s a man, like his sister Donald could easily be bi or pan.. but because he’s just SO MUCH and Donald’s family is already SO MUCH.. and that was BEFORE the kids and the launchpad. Donald has made peace with adventuring but it’s still clearly not his faviorite thing while for Storkules adventure and experince is his life. Storkules needs someone like him and Donald needs someone down to earth, someone who can HANDLE the amount of chaos that follows him and the famly, but someone whose .. normal. And Daisy is that. If you ship then fine fine, but I just don’t because they just don’t go together and both deserve a partner they can truly be a partner with, not someone they clearly don’t understand or someone they DREAD visiting. They both deserve better than that.
Back on the god plot, it’s Webby’s turn as she becomes Goddess of Friendship. And helps the mood at the pier by spreading sunshine.. and then deals with the pier’s greatest menace and my honorary uncle, because he’s really not much worse than some of my actual uncles...
GLOMGOLD, SCOURGE OF CHILDREN’S KIDDIE RIDES. Because of course a seemingly regular habit for Glomgold is hogging a children’s ride he somehow fits into. Of course it is. It’s cheap and he’s not the best human being but I love him anyway. Webby heats it up to scare him then tries to get the kids to hug before having a breakdown at everyone not being happy. This does fit with her personality.. I didn’t think so at first but thinking back her first response in any friendship crisis is to panic and overreact. Her reaction to her best friend telling her she may have to stop sleeping over with her and her sister/webby’s giflriend because of magic danger is an implied death threat. She’s getting BETTER with people, but she still dosen’t have the life experince to fully deal with it and naturally upon seeing things get worse and worse goes on a lighting filled rampage Selene thankfully stops and likely undoes. Though Glomgold is likely on the moon now. He’ll be fine.
Dewey is last and auditions.. but forgets the god part and fails which fits him perfectly and is a great bit. The kids have all washed out and are depressed about it. While Della is hopeful when talking to Selene, Selene gently explains to her girlfriend she shares with a space alien that the kids just aren’t ready and that maybe the power of a god just isn’t the thing you give to a kid for a self esteem boost. Della MEANS well here, she just wants her kids, Webby very much included, to feel good and get their self esteem back after Scrooge swallowed it whole. But Selene is right that this is just too much power, and given it nearly drove Huey insane and nearly made Louie and Webby murderers, she has a point. It’s a good thought, but Selene needs an actual replacement for her dad. Sadly though this breaks the kids further after this and they slink off and Selene gets she messed up.. while she was right to reject them, she missed WHY Della was trying so hard. However credit where it’s do unlike her brother, while she dosen’t try to fix her issue, it’s likely out of emotional maturity: she knows just saying nice things to the kids wouldn’t help them or would wring hollow and their mom is better for that. IT’s things like this that are going to make her a good step mom.. yeah i’m shiping Della with both her girlfriends at once. Just because I gave up on her and Launchpad dosen’t mean poly’s off the table, and frankly selene is strong enough to win Penumbra’s favor and Penumbra has the kind of pepper and violence a greek goddess likes in her women. They’d be cute all together. I likes it.
Less cute is ZEUS, SCHEMING BOWL OF ELEPHANT PISS OUT OF MYTH!, who realizes his greatest gift isn’t his powers: I’ts manipulating his children.
And since he found a sad STORKULES POOR SAD BOY OUT OF MYTH. , and hears his issue, with Storkules hilarious sitting in his poppa’s lap, he spins it into getting what he wants: Saying since he and his wife, and Storkules mother in this version apparently I dunno, fell in love with battle, summoning Chronos will do just that for Donsy. Granted for most people your dad’s tale about how he met your step mom who tried killiing you a bunch and who he’s cheated on dozens of times would raise a red flag, but STORKULES IS THICK AS A BRICK.. in both senses of the word and calls forth Chronus.
Daisy meanwhile is driving her car away, but is battling with herself. On one hand she doesn’t want to play mother to a guy who can’t dispose his trash or his weird friends. On the other she admits she can really be herself around Donald. We then get the most telling line though.. “You do not need to fall for another man who needs saving!”
That.. is clearly setup for the future. It MIGHT be Gladstone but it could be anyone. Hell it could be someone entirely new. She also could have a kid like we’ve all wanted. We could get a canon version of Juinor.. not named Donald Juinor because 1) He’s not donald’s son and 2) that name’s been forever tainted and we all know which living bottle of axe body spray to blame. I.. genuinely can’t wait to find out who this is and I expect we will before the season’s up and i’ts nice to see Tress, like last time, get to dig into some emotional complexity with the character instead of just yelling at Donald or talking about bows and stuff. Here she grapples with herself as she does love Donald but the past has burnt her a lot. But as a wise pansexual once said “ But I think it's important for us to remember that sometimes, sometimes it does work out. And even though everything inside us is telling us to protect ourselves, when you've got it, don't let it go. And I am telling you, that you have got it, if you want it. “ Love is hard, love is messy, maybe that among many other things is why i’m alone. But it’s worth it when you take the time.. and upon seeing a giant monster heading for Donald’s house, Daisy realizes he is worth it.. or that frustrated with him right now or not she dosen’t want him to die. Either way she’s a coming and i’m gathering hornets in a box in ancipation of finding out who hurt her so I can mail them to him. I popped an H on there so I know it has hornets.
Back at the mansion the mood is bleak as heelllllllllll with Louie ordering pizza minus the toppings and Della’s attempt to give the kids hot choclate just getting an ow from Webby. It does make sense: Scrooge and adventuring are their lives.. if he dosen’t need them.. how would they ever do it themselves? Plus their 11 and 13 and at that age kids are very fragile so having their mentor and grandpa reject them like this really hurts, not helped by Scrooge proudly announcing his new team and trying to awkwardly bounce not getting this is his fault, though Della is staring at him with a look that just screams.
But before Della can stab her Dunkle, we cut to a depressed donald who switches from one natural state, Depression, to another, fearing for his life, as Chronus arrives and Huey rightly wonders how he’s here. The kids all defer to Scrooge while Della continues to just be the best. Seriously for the entire episode her only throught is her kids, and their emotional well being and had this crisis not popped up she probably would’ve stabbed scrooge then yelled him out for hurting her babies. She’s graduated from trying to be a mom but having issues with it due to mentally still being in her 20′s, to genuinely being GREAT at the job. Good on her. Daisy is naturally horrified to arrive to find Donald being eaten while Storkules is overjoyed. I WOULD say his stupidity’s overplayed this episode.. but he’s never displayed good judgement before why start now? It fits his character and his joy turns to distress when Chronus eats donald.. and has a cage in his tummy. with glass walls. I dunno, it’s a cool design. Daisy is understandably pissed and yells at it for eating her boyfriend, which gets an adorable oh boy oh boy from donald> Again love is rough, but one jackass screwing with you does not equate to every man or woman or person you date being a jackass. Daisy has realized this. Storkules is overjoyed, but soon finds himself and his sister fihgting Chronus and honestly both are damn impressive doing so. Seriously when the justice ducks form.. give htem a call. I mean She has moon beams and he’s a greek god.. plus Drake and Launchpad could use a third.. I mean he fits better there and Drake is already dating one manchild, and is one to a smaller extent, another won’t hurt. Just consider it shippers.. or foursies with Morgana because as this episode shows Storkules is bi as he is mighty. he’s Bighty. But the god squad fails, and gets eaten and Zeus’ time to shine predictably ends with an “I’ve failed immediately”, to no one’s suprise.
Scrooge starts working on a plan as he and Della, naturally scale the colossus. We then get the scene that’s been boiling all episode: When Scrooge wonders where the kids are, Della calls him out pointing out they’ve been plauged with doubts about him replacing them.. because he literally was replacing them, and when Scrooge is earnestly suprised by that Della points out the obvious: Their children, as I said their fragile and as Della puts it, Scrooge puts a LOT of pressure on them, something she likely knows from experince. And this is what i’ve been leading up to and putting a pin in all episode: Scrooge himself. It’s something I thought of days ago but this episode hammers in heavily: Scrooge really dosen’t have a ton of personal social skills. Sure he can work a board room pitch, lead a team of adventuerers, and run a vast empire while never forgetting the human element, for a lack of a better term, he’s not lacking in empathy or the ablility to talk to people, but when it comes to reading them it’s just surface level. He’s genuinely been show to struggle with empathy, with feeling someone elses emotions or realizing them till they’ve already been hurt. He spent a good ten years desperatley trying to bring Della back, avoding his pain and guilt instead of talking to Donald and making amends with him. His relationship with Goldie took decades to get anywhere healthy as he just put his walls up and assumed she’d never change when, as we’ve seen now, she always could she just needed a push. And when confronted by the kids he lashed out and then pushed them away instead of mending the wounds he created. Even on a much smaller level, when Lena and Violet ended up along next week he’s utterly lost when Adventure isn’t on the menu and only picks up from being baffled by two normal ish (One’s a parnaomal expert the other is the paranormal) joining him once it’s clear at least one of them fits right in with his intrests. He can deal with people on a problem by problem basis, but he’s just not good at dealing with their emotional needs or opening up. It’s why this works so well: his oblviousness fits. To him and the way his brain works, the crown is just a problem to solve and he just needs diffrent tools to fix it, not realizing replacing the kids for a mission would bother them or they’d ever think they were replaceable. Until now I hadn’t seen much similarity to Huey but both.. are just not great with PEOPLE. They put them in boxes, try to solve problems that way.. it’s just their specific issues that way are diffrent. Scrooge can anticapte the unknown and how people he’s fighting act.. but can’t anticipate personal hurt and pain well because he bottles all his up. When checking off a problem.. i’ts just something he dosen’t consider and thus his biggest blindspot, the thing he has to overcome time and time again: How his family feels and how he can deal with it. Here however he deals admirably.. now he KNOWS there’s a problem, and in a genuine show of character development over the past three seasons, he apologizes fully, saying their the best team he could ask for, better than zeus and don’t need his powers and they can get the helm together. Instead of putting up walls.. he’s letting his in and showing humility, which given Scrooge’s ego.. is a tall order. But for those kids, for his strength, it’s no small feet. Of course said speech gets Him and Della eaten, but the kids, now reinegized, ahve time to plan, with Daisy further stalling by roaring at Chronus to stop. Because she’s fucking awesome and Storkules finally gets that. The kids however take the leaves and breifly retake their powers, Dewey’s is for dance naturally, and use them together to take down Chronus, freeing everyone else, defeating the titan and throwing him back into the pits. Donald and Daisy reunite and get a RELLY sweet moment, blushing and looking lovingly at one another, getting lava on each other, before kissing. STORKULES, DOSEN’T GET THEY DON’T WANT A THIRD PARTNER OF MYTH, of course interrupts and hugs them hostage for the remaider of the episode. I’m assuming Beakly , when she got home, pried htem out and explained them not wanting a third int heir relationship to him, and it’s a weak end to the plot as Storkules learned nothing and one of the weaker parts of this episode. The rest is stronger as the kids and Scrooge plan to make another run at the helmet and Selene wonders off to “use your shower” and then order pizza.. so she basically just asked Della out. And has used her shower before.
I mean again, she can have two partners. This episode alone has earned that and they seem like they’d mesh. Penny would just have to learn some lessons about sharing and godly vagina’s is all. Nothing wrong with that. And what about Zeus.. no one asked but he gets his wreath back only to fall in the pit, with Hades naturally laughing his ass off.. and likely also taking Zeus’ laurel back. So Zeus is trapped in hell with a goth mocking him. HORAY! HAPPY END. Final Thoughts; This was a pretty good one. It does have it’s weak spots: Storkules learned nothing, the kids stories endings were easy to see coming and there wasn’t enough Dellene. But really despite that. .it’s still a solid episode mostly because it’s REALLY damn funny. The comedic timing is just pitch perfect and while like most of the plots I could see the rhythm of the donsy plot, the reasons for it were all funny and fresh and the scene with Daisy in her car was a nice bit of character building/clear setup for the future. And showing off Della’s own character developement and history with scrooge, the latter without ever having to mention it, really brought the episode up, as did the guest cast’s game voice acting and timing. This episode is far from perfect, but it’s still a fun episode that felt needed despite not being tied into the main plot: Bringing back some old friends, and having an intresting story to tell. Plus we got more Donsy so there’s that. Overall while not the BEST episode of the series, it was a funny, enjoyable half hour of television and sometimes, that’s enough. If you liked this review follow me or more, and if there’s an episode of Ducktales from seasons 1 or 2 you’d like me to cover, you can comission it for 5 bucks, 5 bucks an episode, 5 dollars off your order when you comission more than one, via my personal messages. A list of fandoms I'm in (in no particular order, will probably be updated regularly. Some fandoms are more intense and some are more casual. Depending on the fandom, I could go on and on about fandom topics for HOURS. Let's get into it!)
Harry Potter, Disney, Marvel, DC comics, Miraculous Ladybug, Avatar: The Last Airbender/The Legend of Korra, Star Wars, Literature, Winx Club, Nintendo, Minecraft, Little Witch Academia, Voltron, Coraline
Details:
Harry Potter- I got into Harry Potter in 7th grade and now I am the resident expert in my family and in my friend group. I read all the books, watched all the movies (notably the British version), and I've seen the Fantastic Beasts films as well. I've also read Tales of Beedle the Bard (the Warlock's Hairy Heart was traumatizing) along with the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them textbook (plus an updated edition). I also read The Cursed Child script and while I mean no hate to anyone that liked it, I hated what it did to the canon. I am in Hufflepuff with some Ravenclaw tendencies (I took the Pottermore quiz 3 times, 2 out of 3 I got Hufflepuff, the other time was Ravenclaw). I had a pottermore account and I was so upset when it got converted to the Wizarding World page. I cosplayed Hermione in 7th grade complete with British accent and even monologued as her for a talent show (classmates and teachers would recognize me as the Hermione girl all the way through high school). I was obsessed and I still love it even if J.K. Rowling has gone off the deep end on Twitter... yeah... my favorite character is Hermione but I also relate to Luna
Disney- there's so much that goes into the Disney part of my fandom list. I'm excluding Marvel and Star Wars from this part as they were originally separate entities before Disney got the rights to them. I have seen almost every animated Disney film ever and often use random movie quotes in conversation. My favorite villain is Maleficent, my favorite princess is Ariel (followed by Belle, Rapunzel, and Anna). I relate to so many of the characters. I'm not sure who my favorite Pixar character is though (I love Violet, Sadness, Dory, and Piper (from the short)). My favorite Disney fairy is Fawn. My favorite characters overall are Ariel and Stitch. Disney is definitely on the list as one of my biggest obsessions. My favorite movies are Lilo and Stitch, the Little Mermaid, Inside Out, Alice in Wonderland (original), and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh.
Marvel- I mostly get my Marvel exposure through the MCU, other movies, and animated TV shows. I have difficulty reading graphic novels so most of my comic book knowledge comes from friends, posts, or wikis. My favorite characters are Spider-Man, Captain America, Peggy Carter, and Scarlet Witch. I also like Gwenpool, Deadpool, Spider-Gwen/ Ghost-Spider, Venom, Squirrel Girl, Daredevil, Mantis, Gamora, Black Widow, Iron Man, Thor, Loki, Bucky, Black Panther, and most MCU characters. Out of the X-men I really like Professor X, Wolverine, Mystique, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Quicksilver (either version- MCU or Fox).
DC- this was the franchise I was more familiar with growing up but again, graphic novels aren't easy for me to read so most of my knowledge comes from information pages about the comics or from tv/movies. My earliest experience with DC came from the 60s Batman series, with Catwoman and Robin being my favorites. I also watched the Wonder Woman series from the 70s and a handful of CW shows, my favorite of which being the Flash and Arrow. I also managed to watch all 5 seasons of the Teen Titans Cartoon Network series from 2003. With that being said, my favorite characters are Wonder Woman, Catwoman, Flash, Batman, Nightwing/Robin (Dick Grayson), Green Arrow, Starfire, Raven, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Alfred. I also like most of the bat family, and when it comes to CW I LOVE Caitlin Snow/Killer Frost and Cisco.
Miraculous- this is one of my guilty fandoms but since this is Tumblr I'm not too worried about it. I love Marinette and I relate to her on an astoundingly deep level (minus the stalking and obsession with potential lovers, that's creepy). If I had a miraculous, I'd probably want the Ladybug one, but the Cat miraculous, fox miraculous, and snake miraculous are good too. My favorite character is Marinette/Ladybug.
Atla/Tlok- I jumped on the avatar bandwagon just when it was starting to get popular, so I managed to get through the series before the memes took over everything. Same with Tlok, although i couldn't completely avoid the spoilers for that when i started it. I've been wanting to get into the comics because of the short story comics I've read, they seem easier to read than superhero comics. My favorite characters are Aang, Katara, Ty Lee, Iroh, Korra, Jinora, Asami, Suki, Appa, Momo, Naga, and Pabu. I also like Sokka, Mai, Zuko, Lin, Kuvira, Varrick, Zhu Lee, and Azula. I feel really sorry for her and while I understand that a redemption arc would undermine the importance of her corruption arc, I still wish she could have one. I would love to be a waterbender or an airbender... maybe a waterbender raised in the air nation? Obviously, being the avatar itself would be awesome. The show has taught me a lot of great lessons and put a lot of stuff into perspective for me.
Star Wars- oh boy, talking about this one is dangerous. I've seen firsthand the horrors of the Star Wars fandom but then again no one will probably see this anyway so... I've seen all the movies and I remember watching the clone wars series with my brother when I was younger but we fell wayyy behind and it's taking us forever to get back into it. I've also seen the Mandalorian and quite enjoyed it. I like the prequels unironically, in fact, the prequels are some of my favorite movies. I especially like how they switched from lightsabers being heavy weapons to light weapons that can be used for all kinds of tricks that make for epic battles like the ones we see in Revenge of the Sith. The sequels were fun to watch but when I would analyze them along side their predecessors, I came to the conclusion that, for me, they were good to watch but did not do anything good for the rest of the franchise. My favorite characters are prequels/clone wars Obi Wan and Anakin, Padme, Ashoka, Leia, R2D2, BB-8, R4-P17, the Mandalorian (Din Djarin), and Grogu. If I had a lightsaber I'd want it to be blue, but when I was little I got a purple one like Mace Windu because it was closer to pink and I was into pink at the time. I still have that lightsaber and none of my friends have a purple one so it's one of my flexes. I feel like I wouldn't make a good jedi because of attachments being forbidden, so I'd probably become a grey jedi.
Literature- this is a broad term I use to cover all the random books and stories I liked reading and have studied. So we have Shakespeare (Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Romeo and Juliet), The Great Gatsby (bored while reading, loved to analyze), Grendel (HATED reading, loved to analyze, Grendel really needed a hug and a friend), The Crucible, Fahrenheit 451, Dark Life (+ the sequel Riptide, both are by Kat Falls good reads, sci-fi and kind of dystopian), The Once and Future King
Winx Club- I think the show is trashy but I still love watching it. I haven't been able to get through season 6 though and I hated what they did with season 8 and Fate: the Winx Saga. My favorite character is Bloom along with Stella and Flora. I prefer rai to nick. My favorite transformations are magic winx, enchantix, and harmonix. My favorite member of the Trix is Icy followed by Darcy. My favorite Pixies are Chatta and Lockette.
Nintendo- mainly Pokémon above all else, followed by Animal Crossing. I have also played (mostly as player 2 or just never beat or watched my brother play) mario games, legend of zelda, pikmin, and kirby. Games I haven't played but I just liked the characters/the lore and probably learned about through Super Smash Bros. are Fire Emblem (Lucina mostly), Metroid (Samus and baby metroid), and Kid Icarus. Pokémon is where I'm most knowledgeable but you'll most likely beat me in battle. I am however great at MarioKart and I always destroy my friends at it. Terrible at fighting games though.
Minecraft- I like playing this casually. Sure, I'll play for hours and hours on end for months, but I prefer to stay exclusively in peaceful when playing Survival mode and I don't make anything too ambitious in Creative mode. I like to write, so sometimes I'll make a rough layout of the settings of my stories in different worlds. I prefer interior design and decorating when building, and when in survival mode I focus more on mining and gathering while my brother works on ambitious building projects. I just bring him the raw materials and furnish the interior when he finishes the outside.
Little Witch Academia- this takes up a smaller portion of my fandom list because there were only 2 seasons and a couple movies and I watched the whole series years ago, but I still enjoy it. At one point I wanted to cosplay Akko, and I loved the nod at Twilight through the Nightfall series. And I especially liked the twist that Shiny Chariot was Ursula, which I suspected for some time. The blend between magic and technology was fun to see, but I was so sad that the series ended RIGHT when Akko finally showed signs of magic proficiency. Also, Shiny Chariot being the reason Akko couldn't do magic was heartbreaking.
Voltron- this takes up a much smaller portion of my fandom list mainly because I haven't even finished it. I know hardly anything about Transformers aside from the Bumblebee movie so to me I just watch it for fun. It reminds me of power rangers, star wars, and star trek, and then there's just a transformer insert. But I don't know anything about Transformers so maybe the show is more rooted in canon than I think.
Coraline- I am in a love-hate relationship with Coraline. I have watched the movie several times, I've read the book, I've watched hours of theories and analyses on youtube, I've watched behind the scenes videos by Laika, and I even wrote a script for a fan film parody. I am amazed at how original the story is and how impressive the stop motion animation is but I also have recurring nightmares from it and it scares me/creeps me out to the max. If anyone asks what my scariness limit is, it's definitely Coraline.

Oh by the way, my general opinion of the Pikmin in Pikmin 3... just in case anyone is interested. In the order you get them...
Red Pikmin: Generally speaking, one of the more important types. If you’re just exploring around, you probably want your team to have a majority of these. These are your fighters, after all, and are generally suited to fight most enemies you come across.
Rock Pikmin: ...I don’t want to use the term ‘bad’, but these Pikmin are... not great. Their strengths are that they can’t be crushed, and that they can break open crystals... and while breaking open crystals is good, you shouldn’t need the fact that they don’t get crushed that often if you’re competent. They’re also not actually that great at fighting. Yes, if you throw them at an enemy you can do a fair bit of damage, but other than that, the fact that they don’t latch on is a HUGE drawback. So basically if I do use them to fight, it’s either against Dwarf Bulborbs, where one Pikmin landing on them kills them instantly, or Yellow Wollywogs, just to be safe, since their method of attack is trying to land on your Pikmin to crush them. But generally... The only thing they can do that other Pikmin cannot is break crystals, other than that, I find them more of a nuisance.
Yellow Pikmin: I always kinda feel like these guys are fragile due to them being lighter than other Pikmin, but that’s generally not the case. You usually don’t need too many of these since you can get bomb rocks with any Pikmin in this game, but there are usually a few things dotted around the map that are too high for you to throw regular Pikmin too. And of course, if there is an electric gate or you need to link up a cable, you’ll need these guys, but generally you won’t need any more than 20 of them at a time, at most. And the times when you will need 20 is pretty few and far between, so you can usually manage with a little less.
Winged Pikmin: These guys are generally a really good idea to have around. They’re not that good at combat in general, but when it comes to aerial enemies, they’re the best option. In addition to this, they are usually fairly safe bringing stuff back to the Onion or the Drake because they fly, and they generally take a more direct route than the rest of the Pikmin can take. The only real problem with that is when you’re in the Twilight River area, you need to make sure that they’re not going to fly right into a spiderweb, but in all other areas, you can pretty much give them something to take back and they’ll be absolutely fine. These are usually the second largest section of my squad, and I usually also dedicate 5 or 10 of them toward harvesting the spicy berries for the Super Spicy spray.
Blue Pikmin: These are actually a bit of an oddity. I usually take a fairly large number of these as well, but I also generally assign them to a different captain. Since they’re the only ones that can go underwater, it is generally better to have a different Captain taking them around to underwater areas to take care of things the other Pikmin cannot, unless you want to dedicate a day purely towards doing underwater stuff. If you are planning on just doing underwater stuff than you can just fill up your team with Blue Pikmin and go ham, but generally they’re not ones that I put in my normal squad.
Just in case anyone is interested in what my squad is usually like, when I’m just looking around, I usually have 35 Reds, 10 Rocks, 15 Yellow, 25 Winged, 10 Blue, Sometimes I will just leave the blues at home and just take 45 Reds.
#out of catnip#I have feelings about Rock Pikmin it would seem#I think they're also heavier than regular Pikmin but that doesn't really come into play very often#I can think of literally two times when that's relevant

Overlord
Overlord is a game released in 2007 by Codemasters, where these gremlin things called Minions (I wish I could have played this game before my mind was rotted by Despicable Me) dig you up from their grave and decide that YOU will be their evil overlord from now on.
This game is a lot like Pikmin, carry around your horde of tiny creature things, and then have them do things. Pick things up, slaughter the wildlife, push buttons, get places you can't, the usual variety. They even sprout up out of the ground similarly.
Something nice I liked about Overlord was how they interacted with NPCs, unlike Pikmen there are quite a few villages filled with other people. These people interact with you and your minions, one may be a little sad after one of your minions break their pot to steal whatever from within, or may be annoyed by a minion screwing around with them. Also how they react to you will give you an idea on how you stand morally, which is a system I have kind of mixed feelings on.
There is a morality system in Overlord, which I've been told is similar to Fable, although I cant speak on that myself cause I've never played Fable. Kill villagers, steal their shit, you get worse. Be kind to them, don't grind their villages to dust for the fun of it? Good path... I think it would fit the game better if it weren't "You're good or you're evil" and instead have it be more like "You're lawful evil or chaotic evil", you're the evil overlord after all. Why would you act good out of nowhere? Instead of becoming a hero to the village and bringing them a new era of greatness, keep the village in juuuuuuust good enough shape so you can extort everyone who lives there for all the money you could ever want. Or just bulldoze the place if you feel so inclined.
Back on topic, your goal in this game is to kill all of the Heroes, who have gotten corrupt over the years. Which sort of works like killing two birds with one stone, get rid of the good guys AND the evil competition.
For a game made in 2007, it runs very well on modern PCs, I had practically no issues with crashing, and it ran smooth as butter. The game can be a little repetitive at points, and can seem a little hard to navigate. But for 5$, 2$ on sale (Steam prices) you cant really go wrong.
