[ jess's eye twitched at the red light on their stem. why was their eye so sensitive to the light now...? they had so much time to adjust to it. how were they going to do when they were out???

regardless... nobody else was in there. yonny probably did go out at some point, so maybe they'll run into them when they're out. ]

im. dizzy, but im definitely alive. if i knew you were looking i wouldve reached out, im so sorry,,

and... someone who knows their way out showed up a bit ago to help, but i. think they walked here. i dont trust that we would all be able to walk all the way back to the base, were all injured, and that's assuming its even in the same spot. im pretty sure my ship is still in the arcadia but i dont think everyone can fit in there. would you be okay with taking some of us back? and. maybe telling me where the ship is now?

[ as the two spoke, jess listened to the best of their ability. they were... worried. not just about how well quince will do at getting them all back safely, but for them. they'd lost so many of their own squad of pikmin. they were, unfortunate as it was, very easy to take down. any help was appreciated, and they were the last person that'd deny them of the job, but... it was still questionable. how safe was it for them? how long were they even going to last? ]

[ every part of jess visibly loosened when the pikmin said they knew how to get out. it meant they could leave, the others could get the help they needed. they could see the sky again. they could help and be useful and try to make up for all of this lost time.

...and. everything they did.

as they shifted to sit up more after being tugged at, they pondered the question they raised. what... did happen to their helmet? all this time without it, and they still couldn't recall losing it. but they at least knew why they couldn't. ]

to.. my helmet? 'm not sure. i think it.. was shattered at some point. while i was in here.

[ they waved a hand around their head, almost as if feeling for the helmet, before their hand moved to their throat. ]

and- i dont think i. have? to breathe anymore? its weird. it still burns when i try, but... it doesnt exactly hurt when i dont, so..

[ jess looked down at the clothes the pikmin was wearing. though blurry, that... certainly was a rescue corps uniform, complete with a blinking lure— antennae. it was an antennae, they're fine, they had one on their helmet before it broke too. it's okay.

...they did need help. if not them, then the others in the cave. they sat up more. ]

[ no part of jess seemed or felt okay. though their uniform was back on to prevent the dirt floor from irritating their wounds further, therefore covering them, their head was still visible. dried blood still clung to parts of their face and in the knots of their hair, and they looked exhausted. not to mention the bloodied bandage over their eye and cheek.

but they weren't thinking about that, really. they didn't even seem to register what they said at all. or the fact they had a rescue corps uniform on as well. ]
