Is my wishlist for a new skylanders game controversial?

Every past game in order with buffs from later titles.

No more emphasis on toys, instead it’s focused more on gameplay (characters are unlocked either by having the old toys or getting the soul gems in game, but you can still buy the toys in stores.

New story after imaginators with four new core skylanders of each element with new form of chaos.

Added clothes as well as hats.

The portal is optional plugin/bluetooth device (on nintendo switch, it just uses the toys like you would use the amiibo, and you can use nintendo switch amiibos as characters.)

Nuzlocke mode built in.

All four difficulties unlocked from beginning.

Online co-op up to eight players/battle mode up to eight players/ racing mode up to eight players

All imaginator types/trap team traps are available at the beginning.

Any skylander can be played at any time in any game.

Soul gem already unlocked if you have the toy.

You get to choose one core skylander of each element (of the original 32) with variants (many new variants) to start off in spyros adventures (all games are played in sequential order).

Art style consistent of SSA.

Variants are a toggleable option and you don’t even have to have the toy.

Improved combat system based on strategy but keeps the main beat em up premise (elemental matchups, armor acts more as defense, clothes and hats also key in.

Old Friend [Skylanders Spyro's Adventure - Screenshot Redraw]

This is what happens when I'm left alone to my own devices. I do a screenshot redraw of one of the gayest scenes in Skylanders Spyro's Adventure (/vpos)

Comparing the two side by side, I feel like I didn't quite capture the same energy as the actual screenshot, but I still had a lot of fun drawing this. The lighting is a lot more dramatic than I'm used to and it's good for me to go out of my comfort zone with stuff like that.

Anyway, you should tune into my streams. They're very fun, if I do say so myself XD

Vinestaff doesn’t have anything against modern medicine…BUT if you ask her for medical advice, 9 times out of 10 she’ll be like “have you tried rubbing moss on the wound?”

Skateboard once crashed into a wall so hard, he got his horns stuck for a solid half hour. They don’t really talk about it anymore, but every now and then one of his gang members will bring up ‘the mach 3 incident’ and Skateboard will get all mad.

Sometimes Subspace will witness his Biografts doing peculiar things after matches, his favourite being when one of them came back to the lab wearing some shoes. He still doesn’t know where the shoes came from. (Based off of Bio’s more inquisitive lines.)

Pwnatious is TERRIFIED of little critters. Like full on standing-on-top-of-a-chair behaviour if he sees a rat or something.

Carnage is the Glumshanks of Phighting (this only makes sense if you’ve played Skylanders)

Boombox’s gear is just an ordinary boombox. It’s not even modified; he just found a way to weaponize it in order to participate in Phights.

Phighters with ‘consumable gears’ (Shuriken, Scythe, Medkit, Subspace, etc) naturally know how to craft more ammo/shurikens/whatever. But Subspace doesn’t have time for that, so that bag of his acts as a duplicator.

uhh essentially, the Underworld is the ‘core’ of the Skylands, with enough condensed and squashed energy that not only does it bring the dead back to life, it also creates a gravitational force that holds all of Skylands together, so that’s pretty cool

hm, don’t have much else besides the fact that I think it would be funny if the magic volcano and the Core of Light were on opposite poles lol

Introducing Mori, the Spirit Tracks Link in the silly little AU called Hearts Linked Together, in which I remix the Zelda timeline and bring together as many Links as possible. Instead of going by titles or themed nicknames, these Links go by their surnames. It's been over a year since the last one, I think!

This Link is fantasy-Japanese, descended from those that survived the Great Flood and migrated back to a desolate mainland. His eventual contributions pave the way for Sheikah and Zonai tech.

As a person, Mori fits pretty well into the "mad professor" stereotype: he's always chasing new ideas, excited about building them from whatever he has on hand, forgetful about paltry things like food and sleep, and excited whenever someone wants to listen to him. He isn't a great teacher, but there are, especially later in his life, a lot of people who want to learn from him, so he does his best.

He does care about helping people as a concept, but he's much better at helping and caring about individuals than the collective whole. Trust doesn't come easily to him. He'd rather do everything himself when it comes to executing his visions, but nobody can build a railroad alone, so he's had to attempt to learn the difficult lesson of delegation and, yes, trust. He does sometimes forget that he likes riding trains as much as he does designing new ones, but he manages to get out every so often.

The one thing Mori does purposely for his appearance is dye his hair light blond. He's bad at keeping up on it, but it's a rebellion that he hasn't grown out of yet. He's a dominant personality, though he sticks his foot in his mouth a lot. He ends up arguing and yelling instead of debating, half the time.

Mori loves forging new frontiers—mostly on paper, but there are a few periods of his life where he spends several years out and about, exploring. The memory of the Great Flood is still alive in his culture's legends, so when Mori discovers the Skylands and the Depths, he's a big supporter of building into them and exploring them, partially for the value of knowledge and partially as places to go if a calamity ever strikes again. He builds the first Guardians and Divine Beasts, though they're simpler, steam-powered versions.

He's just an excitable nerd with some real skills in his chosen fields.

Spyro: What's the matter, is everything alright?

George: It's Ghost Roaster, he's stuck.

Spyro: Is that true, Ghost Roaster?

Ghost Roaster: I'm afraid so.

Spyro: I see...

Spyro: Alright, guess we're putting you down.

George: So how do you fix- W-what?!

Spyro: Gill, get Cali, we're putting him down.

Gill Grunt: Alright!

George: Gill, wait! Spyro, what's gotten into you?! What're you saying??

Spyro: George, what's gotten you so worked up?

George: What's gotten me-? You're gonna put down a teammate because he got stuck!

Spyro: ...Yeah.

George: Why?!

Spyro: Oh, George. I know all this might seem a little odd to you, but this is just basic procedure.

George: What do you mean "basic procedure"??

Spyro: Well, a Skylander's portal traveling is meant to be almost second nature, but if they get stuck during that process... we kill 'em.

George: You phrased that like- like it explained anything but it didn't.

Spyro: George, I know this seems harsh. It might even sound cruel! But it's just the way things have to be. Ghost Roaster understands that more than anybody, don't you, Ghost?

Ghost Roaster: (casually) Yep, just basic procedure.

George: Wait, you're actually okay with all of this?

Ghost Roaster: ...Yeah.

George: But- but you're gonna die!

Ghost Roaster: Yeah, but it's basic procedure.

Spyro: It's basic procedure.

George: (getting increasingly distressed) What the fuck...

Cali: Got here as soon as I could!

Spyro: Great! Did you bring the stick?

George: The stick?

Gill Grunt: For putting Ghost Roaster down!

George: Jesus Christ- or whatever you guys believe in- You guys are gonna beat him to death with a stick?!

Spyro: ...Basic procedure-

George: Stop talking about basic procedure! Don't you see how insane this all sounds?!! I mean, put aside the fact we're killing the guy, you guys have all kinds of weapons and tools and laser beams, and you guys are using a special stick?! A special stick?!!

Spyro: Yeesh, George, relax! We don't have some sort of "special stick" for things like this, that's barbaric!

Spyro: It's just gotta be a big one! Like this, here, see? (holds up comically large stick)

Ghost Roaster: Now that's a beating stick!

George: THAT DOESN'T MAKE IT ANY BETTER!

Spyro: Really, George, would you rather we use a small stick? That'd just be cruel.

Ghost Roaster: Dick.

George: Guys, come on! Seriously, just- just come on! Listen, back on Earth, when someone has something wrong with them we don't just kill 'em, we help them! Now I'm sure if you guys just give me a chance, I can help Ghost Roaster, we don't have to kill him! You guys are always on about the sanctity of life and the importance of keeping people safe, why not this? Come on, what'dya say?

Spyro: ...But that's not procedure.

George: Oh, come on!

Gill Grunt: It's just not how things are done.

Cali: And I've already got the stick...

George: Holy shit, well what kind of procedure is this? How often has this happened??

Spyro: Hmmm, twice I think? Yeah, I think it was twice.

Gill Grunt: Three times technically, but it was with a lead pipe one time, which was controversial.

(The Doom Raiders teleport in on the Portal)

Golden Queen: (evil laughter) I was wondering where you fools were holed up!

Spyro: Golden Queen!

Golden Queen: Your day of reckoning has finally arrived! Now begins the end of the so-called Skylanders! Doom Raiders, attack!!

Dr. Krankcase: Here we goo-

Dr. Krankcase: (suddenly starts glitching out on the portal) Oh- oh no- oh-god oh shit-

Golden Queen: Oh, come on, is he stuck?! Oh yeah, he- he's stuck, definitely stuck...

Golden Queen: Alright, gotta kill him.

Ghost Roaster: Hey, that's a twofer!

Golden Queen: You guys got a stick?

Spyro: Yeah we've got it-

George: Spyro, are you serious?! They're the bad guys! Why the hell are you giving them the stick-

George: (pinching bridge of his nose) -it's the basic procedure...

Spyro: It's basic procedure.

OKAY SURE. so i will tell you a bit about skylanders. the protag of the skylanders games aren't actually the skylanders. since you can swap to any skylander at any time, you can't really give them this unique role. actually, YOU, the player, are the main character. you are a Portal Master who uses the Portal of Power to bring skylanders back to their home dimension of skylands (putting the toy on the portal) after they were banished to earth and turned into statues (toys.) by the villain. so frequently people in the story will refer to The Portal Master. it doesn't actually play a role in the story that much but ive always found it neat that the sort of meta-element in toys to life is there. there's no Infinityster in Disney Infinity, no Amiibo Lord in amiibo, no Dimension Keeper in Lego Dimensions... but for skylanders, the actual act of putting the toy on the portal is incorporated into the story of the game. i think that's such a cool way to do it.

ANYWAYS. skylands is your typical Fantasy Land brimming with magic. there are other Portal Masters in skylands but theyre mostly gone. as of right now the only ones are you the player, this old guy named Master Eon, and a Dark Portal Master who is the villain of the games named Kaos. basically if invader zim was human. i do mean that literally. the big macguffin centerpiece of the magic in skylands is called the Core of Light so the first game starts with kaos destroying that. and it's up to us the portal master to send skylanders back to skylands temporarily in order to stop this looming threat.

throughout the series you also need people to bounce off and follow in cutscenes, so you do get a trio of deuteragonists as well! flynn, an egotistical pilot, hugo, a nervous scholar, and cali, who's spunky and helps train skylanders. they're pretty cute i grew to love them as time went on

anyways yeah thats basically the story. the Good Guys try to stop the Bad Guy from whatever New Macguffin pops up, which is typically tied into a brand spanking new line of Collectible Toys. capitalism rejoice.

skylanders giants (game 2)- kaos tries to revive this lost ancient civilization full of EVIL ROBOTS (COOL AS HELL) named the arkeyans. some really big skylanders called the giants got banished by the arkeyans a long time ago. i really like the arkeyans, i think the concept of skylands having this fantasy-robot ancient civilization instead of a future civilization is just. chefs kiss. the arkeyans dont exactly go away in the series either, cos even though they never get a major role again, you still see them in setpieces and stuff. my favourite level in the next game is an ARKEYAN GRAVEYARD. LIKE HELLO!! THATS SO COOL

this is the old arkeyan king, with his Iron Fist of Arkus, but FUN FACT, THERE ARE A FEW ARKEYANS WHO ARE SKYLANDERS!!

that first guy, krypt king, is all the way from game 4. so yeah the arkeyans are always subtly there. love it love it.

skylanders swap force (game 3)- the dev studio switches from toys for bob to vicarious visions, and to reflect that, there ends up being an entirely new Locale and Supporting Cast. flynn takes a vacation to the Cloudbreak Islands and meets some new other furries. these islands have these four Elementals who can do a magic eruption thing at a volcano. very powerful-old-magic of them. the swap force are skylanders who can swap tops and bottoms (the NFC tech on these were actually quite impressive) and kaos' plan ties into the gimmick because this magic volcano blast that banished the swap force way back when is happening again and he wants to use it to Turn Everything Evil with evil crystals. lovely

skylanders trap team (game 4)- NEW GAME NEW GIMMICK. basically back in the day there were these Really Big Bad Villains called the Doom Raiders who get locked in prison with this nigh-unbreakable material called Traptanium. but kaos is an idiot who breaks them out because he knows no peace. the skylanders this time are called Trap Masters because they all have traptanium weapons (crystal weapons that kinda rocks) and another gimmick is that they sold these little plastic traps in stores and had a new slot in the portal where you could capture villains and play with them and theyd commentate on how you did. toys for bob is also back so they went back to the original supporting cast but they did add some new faces

there the doom raiders are ^ thats kaos in the middle btw. neglected to show you him but there he is. i think their designs are pretty cool. i like them :] this is the game that got me into skylanders but my little brother had been collecting them since spyro's adventure

skylanders superchargers (game 5)- so uh. this game's gimmick is Cars?

yeah. but also for some unexplainable reason, the plot this time is about THE END OF THE WORLD. the literal embodiment of darkness (...creatively just called The Darkness yeah i know.) has Reawakened and is basically using kaos as a pawn to destroy skylands to harvest its Surplus of Magic so he can use it as fuel to CONQUER other worlds. greater-good-of-bad type of thing. but kaos is REALLY hung up on that fact. because he really wants to RULE the world, not destroy it. for some reason. almost like he was an unloved child who finds solace in evil and was always seeking that twisted sort of validation and belonging. who knows. who knows. not me. maybe im looking too deep into this. he fires the only person whos ever stuck by him but when the world is Almost destroyed he realizes his mistakes and turns on the darkness and helps defeat it basically. and that means all his dark powers are gone but he says he'll work as the skylanders' Evil Consultant. basically antihero-redeemed. i kinda love that. and i realize how similar this sounds to a plot of a certain movie to Those Who Know. which may explain why i love this game.

skylanders imaginators (game 6)- WHY IS THIS SERIES STILL GOING THAT WAS A PERFECT ENDING. anyways the skylanders brand has for a while now been selling us junk that Arent skylanders figures. in trap team there were the traps in superchargers there were cars. and now. These

now YOU can create your OWN SKYLANDER! WOWWWWWW!! idk im over it. imaginators you are nothing to me. they did also have a line of regular figures to pick up called Senseis. those were cool. kaos finally got a proper figure. that was cool. but the plot has kaos going back to his Old Ways and using the magic you use to create your own skylanders to create his own evil doomlanders. and by the end he goes super saiyan. and he becomes tiny and they lock him in a jar. and that's how the series ends now. thanks imaginators.

they also have a core lineup of original skylanders (like the aforementioned stealth elf! and spyro and eruptor and shit) who would tag along with you on levels to get Synergy with the brand-new netflix series Skylanders Academy. yeah sure who even cares anymore. (IM SORRY I DONT LIKE IMAGINATORS. I AM NOT IMMUNE TO MY OWN PROPAGANDA)

This might be a tid bit dark to bring up but I just noticed that the Skylanders books didn't hold back that the Skylanders were this close to nearly killing Kaos but had to be reminded not to.

There was Spyro wanting to leave Kaos to be buried alive in the Machine of Doom

Then there's Stump Smash who wanted to shatter Kaos' petrified form in a rage in Stump Smash crosses the Bone Dragon.

You can even see the illustration for it.

I can't help but imagine how many Skylanders want this guy dead but can't due to being held back by moral code and trying to follow Master Eon's example.

But I have to admit there's something neat about the Skylanders having those thoughts to want to get rid of Kaos in a more permanent fashion but chose not to go through with it.
