⟡ okay it's never established in the show that isaac has a car or a license

⟡ so he would hitch rides from scott (especially during szn 3)

rarely would he get a ride from stiles, but they would bicker the entire time and almost crash because of it

they only ride together if absolutely necessary

⟡ but if scott or stiles were unavailable, you would give isaac rides back to the mccall house

it was convenient since you lived down the block from Scott

⟡ when isaac first joined the pack, the two of you weren't on the best of terms but overtime eventually warmed up with one other

hitching rides with you definitely helped smooth things over

⟡ but then isaac found himself wanting to get rides from you over scott

scott noticed and was suspicious of his sudden change in attitude but didn't say anything about it

⟡ you found isaac's company pleasant in your car the more you spent time with him

⟡ after allison's death, the both of you found solace and comfort in each other presence and would take long drives late at night to get your minds off of things

⟡ sometimes, you guys would just go out and drive to a random parking lot and end up having really deep conversations with one another, bonding the two of you even closer

the pack picked up on the closeness of the two of you and started to make bets on when the two of you start to date

⟡ and even when you guys got together (it was a month after they made the bet and Lydia won), you were still the designated driver of the two of you

⟡ anywhere the two of you went together, you drove

it didn't matter if he wanted to take you out and planned the date, you drove regardless

⟡ you didn't mind driving everywhere. if anything, you prefer it

you tried teaching him how to drive, but he almost crashed a couple of times, and you didn't want to damage your car and have to explain to your dad what happened

⟡ you have asked him when he plans to get his license

he responded with a shrug, "Why would I when I have you." he said with a smirk on his face. you rolled your eyes at him.

but when he turned eighteen, you forced him to get his license.

anytime he does, you complain about his driving

you're the better driver out of the two of you

he says it's so not fair because you'd been driving longer than him

he hated the nickname at first, but he secretly loves the nickname

Matt sighed in irritation, “He had this first edition Spider-Man.. Or.. Was it Batman..?” He scratched at his temple in thought before shaking his head, seemingly deciding that the specifics didn’t matter, “We were gonna make a trade. But then I’m over there and I hear music in the backyard.. And when I go back there, everyone’s having a good time. I see Sean, and he throws Jessica in the pool. And then Bennet goes in-”

Each of their faces flash in Amber’s memory as he says their names �� The team photograph from the 2008 yearbook was practically burned into her brain by now. That group huddled together in the front row, smiling faces pressed close, championship medals hanging around their necks.. Those had been Lahey’s favorites-

They were all dead now.

“-And then Camden..” Matt continued, “Isaac’s jarhead brother? He grabs me. He thinks it’s funny.”

“He threw you in.” Scott deduced.

Amber loathed the brief flash of pity that swirled in her chest, “Matt, he couldn’t have known-” She said as gently as she could manage.

“I yelled that I can’t swim,” Matt interrupted her sharply, “But nobody listened. I went under. I swallowed water.. And no one cared.” His words are barbed, sticky rage coating every one, “I see these bodies, under the water. I see Jessica’s got a hand down Sean’s swim trunks. Tucker’s grabbing Kara. And I’m drowning. I’m dying and they’re all laughing. And then all of sudden I was just.. Laying by the pool. And Lahey is right there above me and he says: You tell no one! He tells me: This.. This is your fault!” Matt’s voice cracks around the words even as the anger in his eyes intensifies, “And, What little bastard doesn’t know how to swim? He told me to say nothing. To tell no one.. And I didn’t. I didn’t tell anyone. But then I would see them around town, at school, and they wouldn’t even look at me.”

Amber looked into Matt’s eyes, saw the way they had darkened and clouded over with his building rage, and realization set in inside of her with a sort of finality. There was truly no getting through to him. Nothing they could say would ever be enough to talk him down from the ledge he’d dragged himself onto. Trauma was a tricky thing, like that. It wedged itself deep inside of you, manifested itself in ways you couldn’t predict or rewrite. And Matt’s trauma had buried itself so far down that angry thorns had twisted their way around it, sharp barbs pricking at the scabbed over memories whenever he moved just right. Those thorns had caused all that pain to bleed internally. It bled, and it bled. Until that pain and fear had fermented into something worse, something ugly, something dangerous.

Blind fury.

“I’d wake up in the middle of the night gasping for breath,” Matt continued in a rush, words tripping over one another in his haste. Tears shone in his eyes, big and welling at his waterline even as his lip pulled back in a snarl, “And my parents? They thought I was asthmatic. Th-They even got me an inhaler. They didn’t know that every time I closed my eyes I was in that pool. Every time I closed my eyes I.. I was drowning.”

Amber swallowed down around the lump that had suddenly found a home in her throat, and the bile on the back of her tongue tasted an awful lot like chlorine. She blinked once and she was back in that pool with Stiles and Derek. She felt the cloudy pool water stinging at her eyes, felt the way the pressure had built up and pressed against the insides of her skull when her lungs screamed for oxygen. She remembered the defeat of taking in that first gulp of water and the way it burned in her chest. She remembered the ache in her tired muscles finally relaxing as her spotty vision went dark. She remembered gagging and retching around the water as it came back up and then the coughing that immediately followed as she fought to bring air into her lungs. She remembered Stiles saving her the first time around, and then Scott an hour or so later when she very nearly had it happen all over again.

“I drowned that night at the school pool.”

Her voice was so hollow, Amber almost didn't realize the words came from herself. When she shook her head, the world around her spun for a moment, but when it cleared, so did the worst of the memories. She looked up again and found both boys looking at her with differing expressions, though they both displayed underlying confusion.

Luna’s vision blurred, her surroundings a kaleidoscope of shadows and distorted shapes. The Nogitsune's sinister whisper echoed in her mind, a venomous lullaby that clouded her thoughts and twisted her actions. She struggled against the invisible chains that bound her, but the malevolent force was too strong.

"You can't fight me, Luna," the Nogitsune's voice hissed in her ear. "Your strength is mine to command."

In the dim light of the Beacon Hills preserve, the McCall pack gathered, unaware of the darkness that had infiltrated their ranks. Scott, Lydia, and Isaac stood ready, prepared for a confrontation, but not expecting the threat to come from within. Stiles, possessed by the Nogitsune, was absent, his whereabouts unknown and his influence on Luna a sinister unseen hand.

"Luna, are you okay?" Scott called out, his voice laced with concern. He took a cautious step forward, eyes scanning her tense form.

Before she could respond, the Nogitsune tightened its grip, and Luna's body moved against her will. With a flick of her wrist, she sent a wave of dark energy crashing towards her friends. Scott barely had time to raise a shield of alpha energy, but the force of the impact sent him sprawling.

"Luna, stop!" Lydia shouted, desperation in her voice. "This isn't you!"

Luna’s mind screamed in defiance, but her body remained under the Nogitsune's control. She unleashed another attack, this time targeting Lydia. The banshee tried to dodge, but a tendril of shadow wrapped around her ankle, yanking her off her feet and slamming her into a tree.

Isaac moved to intervene, his eyes flashing with determination. "Luna, fight it!" he yelled, lunging towards her. But Luna’s possessed form was too quick, too powerful. She caught him with a backhanded blow that sent him crashing to the ground, blood trickling from his lip.

"No!" Luna’s internal voice cried, tears streaming down her face. The Nogitsune laughed, reveling in her anguish.

"Yes, Luna. Hurt them. Show them your true power."

But Luna’s spirit was resilient, fueled by her love for her friends and the pain of seeing them suffer. She fought against the darkness, her soul straining against the chains that bound it. With a surge of willpower, she managed to seize control for a brief moment.

"Get... out... of... my... head!" she screamed, her voice a raw, guttural cry. She collapsed to her knees, hands clutching her head as the Nogitsune's presence weakened.

The shadows receded, and Luna blinked, her vision clearing to reveal the devastation around her. Scott was on his feet, holding a protective stance, Lydia was groaning in pain, and Isaac looked at her with a mix of relief and fear. But it was Isaac that caught her eye—lying on the ground, battered and bruised.

"Oh my God, Isaac," she gasped, crawling towards him. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to... I couldn't control..."

Isaac lifted his head, his eyes soft with understanding despite the pain etched on his face. "Luna, it's okay," he whispered, reaching out to her. "I know it wasn't you."

Luna’s tears flowed freely as she cradled his head in her lap, her body shaking with sobs. "I'm sorry," she repeated, her voice broken. "I'm so, so sorry."

Isaac struggled to sit up, cupping her face with a bloodied hand. "Hey, listen to me," he said softly, his eyes locking onto hers. "It's alright. We're going to get through this. You're stronger than it, Luna. We believe in you."

"I thought I could fight him," Luna sobbed, her voice trembling. "I thought I could control it." She looked devastated, the weight of her guilt and fear pressing down on her. "Knock me out," she pleaded, looking into Isaac's eyes with desperate resolve.

Isaac shook his head, his expression horrified. "No, Luna, we can figure this out."

"It's the only way," Luna insisted, her voice cracking. "The only way I won’t hurt any of you."

Before either of them could react, Scott approached from behind, his face set with a stern expression. He moved swiftly, striking Luna's head and sending her crashing into the wall. She slumped to the ground, unconscious.

Isaac screamed, "No!" He rushed to Luna's side, cradling her limp form. He looked up at Scott, his eyes blazing with anger and confusion. "Why, Scott? Why did you do that?"

Scott's expression was cold, his voice hard. "Because she was right. She's a danger to all of us in this state. We can't afford to take any chances."

Isaac's anger flared. "You didn't have to knock her out like that! We could have found another way!"

Scott's eyes narrowed, his voice unyielding. "We don't have time for 'another way,' Isaac. We need to stop this now before anyone else gets hurt."

Isaac looked down at Luna's peaceful, unconscious face, his anger slowly melting into a mix of sorrow and determination. "We have to save her," he whispered, his voice filled with resolve. "No matter what it takes."

Scott nodded, his expression softening slightly. "We will. But right now, we need to contain this threat. For everyone's sake."

The pack gathered around Luna, their bond tested but their resolve unwavering, ready to face the darkness together and bring their friend back from the brink.
