𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 would be 100% confident that he’ll bag you no sweat– so he put off the planning till 3 days before valentines.

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 then starts panicking.

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 paces around the room, digging for anything he could give you or use as an ask-out

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 realizes he has nothing (bc he’s poor as hell.)- maybe a few fancy perfumes from Vein, but they’re all opened 💀

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 gets lazy and throws them in the brown paper bag he got while grocery shopping anyway

buuuuut 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 realizes who he’s confessing to (the love of his live who he’d be very depressed over if he fumbled)

Soooo 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 he calls up Vein and he’s basically crying over the phone over how you’re going to reject him and how he’s too poor for you (there is not a big wage gap between you two 💀) Vein thought he was drunk…

Vein finds the situation pretty amusing, but he wants 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 to be happy so he sends over a goooood chunk of money 

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 had originally wanted to spend his own money so that i’d be 100% his work to confess, but then he counted his money and took the funds dreadfully

Vein asks him what he’s gonna get you, and 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 ends up going running on a list of all your favourite things. He didn’t realize he was doing it, he was really just brainstorming aloud. 

Usually Vein’s the expert when it comes to all things fancy, but 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 takes the lead this time, dipping into all your favourite stores buying restocks of all your favourite products (that you never mentioned…?)

Before 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 realises, he’s spent all the money Vien gave him (which to be fair wasn’t that much…?) 

Soo 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 goes back home to start arranging everything!! 

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 Carefully padding your gifts with pink tissue paper, handwriting a letter, making sure the folds are neat and sharp, wrapping everything with ribbon.

Annnnd before he knew it, 𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 fell asleep. On your gifts.

𝚇𝚒𝚊 𝙵𝚎𝚒 woke up realizing he doesn’t actually have a plan.

𝕃𝕀𝕌 𝕏𝕀𝔸𝕆 / 𝕏𝔸𝕍𝕀𝔼ℝ

𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 started casually dropping questions like “are you running out on any products?” and “What are your thoughts on these flowers? They rot pretty fast, but they’re beautiful while they last” months before valentines. you’ve completely forgotten about them

Other things like your favourite foods, plushies, and in general what sort of things you’d want 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 knew already, picking out gifts was no sweat

𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 started stocking up on gifts and making reservations way before you even thought about valentines

𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 bought you a fancy dress for the occasion too! And ofcourse it matched his suit.

On the day, 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 either made you breakfast himself, or doordashed it if he couldn’t make it

You had bought a few things for 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 too, and handmade some others. You knew it wouldn’t be anywhere near the value of the hundreds he’d spend on you, but still– you had to do something.

But in 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘’s eyes, the bouquet and plushie you got him were everything. He toned down his smile to a normal one so you wouldn’t think he’s that down bad for you (he is. He very much is.) He really couldn’t hold back his smile, kept looking at the plushie and squeezing it while it’s hand like it was a mini you. Omg he’d take such good care of it.

𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 did all the stuff the ideal boyfriend would. 

Cute dinner date (candle lit at your favourite fancy restaurant), pulled out your chair (like the gentleman he is), takes the prettiest photos, wiped crumbs off your lips, gave u his jacket when you got cold, everything. 

You felt like your face was going to overheat and die.

But really- 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘 was much more giddy than you were. Just better at hiding it.

And ofcourse 𝙻𝚒𝚞 𝚇𝚒𝚊𝚘's pride was inflated a bit, knowing how fast your heart was beating

(this is a side note, but he’d literally know exactly when ur uncomfy bc of his ability)

Ended the day either gazing at the stars on a picnic blanket, or just watching a movie at home. Because obviously he prepared two plans, depending on how tired you felt at that point ;)

𝕍𝔼𝕀ℕ

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 remembered to plan something once he heard some of his workers gushing over what their boyfriends were going to do for valentines, or who they were hoping would ask them out

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 wasn’t a huge festive person (unless it was for ‘Cannibal Appreciation Day’ which he took a weird amount of happiness in- and you didn’t even know about until he asked you to celebrate it with him) given his busy schedule, but he knew you were, so 𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 figured it be worth taking a day off from work.

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 saw no need to busy his hands, so he told his assistants exactly what flowers to get (including how many, the ribbon, wrapping, and which florist to get it from), where to book reservations (in the best tables of course. And he would’ve rented out the restaurant, but he knew you’d feel awkward just staring at him in a completely empty dinner, and feel bad that he’d literally ruin every other couple’s plans 💀) and everything else

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 went to buy a perfume for you in person (since you don’t truly ‘understand a scent’ unless you smell it for yourself) (his words not mine). 𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 knew exactly what scent he was going for. A base note of Vanilla, a heart note of Cinnamon, and a headnote of Lemon. 

Or if there was something else that screamed ‘you’, he wouldn’t be able to resist buying it for you. 

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 ended up putting in a custom order, just for you. He admitted that he probably shouldn’t be doing everything less than a week before the big day, but with enough money anything is possible.

He reviewed the (very big) bouquet once it had arrived as well, just to make sure it was good enough for you.

𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 had everything had been set up. A fully glammed out limbo, and Blackcard(s) ready for you. Now he just had to wait til tomorrow, show up at your door and oh so charismatically as you out.

Yup, 𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 was done for the day. So he packed his bag and prepared to leave the office. Uuuuunntill one of his assistants said someone had requested his ‘immediate presence’  

So 𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 irritatedly threw on a smile and opened the doors to the small room (that wasn’t meant to be a meeting room- it was more of a closet? But his closets are huge so it’s not that bad)

“Hm? Who wanted to see me?”

The door was then slammed behind him by the previous assistant. Vein flicked the lights on immediately, to know what the hell was going on.

He then had a heart attack and died. 

Boohoo.

Kidding (i love vein guys pls believe me).

It was you! With a bouquet of your own flowers and a small gift bag. Standing awkwardly in the middle of the room.

A few moments of silence followed, while you tried to find your words and 𝚅𝚎𝚒𝚗 looked at you with utmost curiosity.

"Awww!! Did you do all this for me? You really didn't have to~" "I felt like I should- since you do so much for me... Don't think too much of it."

He ate the flowers.

A realisation that about LINK CLICK that ruined my day: (SPOILERS FOR S2)

There are probably multiple timelines where Lu Guang is wanted for the Murder of Cheng Xiaoshi (and Qiao Ling) because the timelines most likely don't just stop when Lu dives and the police don't know he to can go into photos so he was the last one seen with them and then just disappeared which is prime suspect material then even if he is hurt or some of his blood was left the police might see it as the others fighting back

Also the studio was mostly likely demolished and replaced in alot of these timelines because it be really hard to sell because 2 people died in it

Finished Season 2 rewatch!

All the issues I had with this season originally are still present but with the full context of the season the worst parts of it feel more tolerable

Over-analyzing the Yingdu Chapter [PART 3]

They've already told us the synopsis of the Yingdu Chapter, but this is just scratching the surface. This is how I think the plot will go down:

The chapter will start with the flashback of Cheng Xiaoshi's death and how Lu Guang went back to the past. At the same time, we'll probably see the scene of Liu Xiao pointing his gun at the grown man and asking about Cheng Weimin.

Now, this is where things get confusing cause... what's the deal with Cheng Weimin? It's not confirmed, yet very evident that this man is Cheng Xiaoshi's father, but why would Liu Xiao be looking for him?

Well, I have three guesses:

1. Cheng Weimin has powers like his son.

2. Cheng Weimin had powers but gave them to his son before dissappearing/dying.

3. Cheng Weimin pretended to have powers but in reality it always was Cheng Xiaoshi so, to protect him, Cheng Weimin and his wife disappeared.

The third option is my favorite because there's a text in the teaser that says this:

It seems like a message directed to Lu Guang and it's either from himself from the future or it's from someone else who cares a lot for Cheng Xiaoshi, for example, his parents.

Going back to the plot...

Lu Guang has the nightmare, sees Vein and the messages for him to go to Bridon. There'll probably be a lot of reluctance regarding if they should go or not, ultimately taking the journey because... Well, because we need the story to move forward lol.

When they arrive to Yingdu something tells me that initially Cheng Xiaoshi won't find anything about his parents, which leads to this scene of him looking sadly at a picture (of his parents?) I would like to make a small parenthesis to point out that we DON'T know if in this part of the story CXS already has knowledge about his powers or not.

This part were he's looking sadly at the picture could mean one out of two things:

1. He has his powers and dived into the photo but found nothing.

2. He doesn't have powers and he simply didn't find any useful clues outside of the photo.

I honestly think that they will have their powers already cause it's a plot device, it helps advancing the story and solving mysteries/conflicts. Unless they decide to make CXS awaken his powers in here, which could be really cool too.

Getting back on track...

Cheng Xiaoshi doesn't find anything useful and Lu Guang is probably relieved because that means that they can go back home, but then the antagonists appear. I don't know how or why because, well, we haven't seen anything about it and I would just be making completely blind suppositions lol.

Tho, something worth noting on this scene is that, by the way the camera moves when focusing on CXS, it seems like if someone was... Watching him? Probably one of the trio. I could be totally wrong.

So yeah, long story short, they have to stay in Yingdu for some reason involving the antagonists and they get entangled in dangerous situations such as the previous seasons. One of the texts mentions: "The two had a quarrel that shouldn't have happened". I honestly don't know what this could mean. Is it referring to Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang as a pair or is it a one vs one? Let's wait and see.

So... This is where it gets tragic. Brace yourselves!

At the very end of this video that Bilibili and the Link Click official Twitter account uploaded two months ago, we get a small preview of the Yingdu Chapter.

And what's so relevant about this? Well, at the very end we can hear a gunshot and Cheng Xiaoshi groaning in pain before dropping to the ground, then we hear Lu Guang calling his name and another gunshot.

I'm sadly sure that CXS is going to die again. Why? Because it just doesn't make sense that they went through something so important and dramatic during Yingdu for them to never talking about it beyond mentioning a trip abroad. This is gonna sound bad, but it's the easiest solution the writers have to prevent plot holes.

Cheng Xiaoshi dies; maybe even Vein and Xia Fei die too? I kinda have the feeling that something big is gonna happen because of this text in the teaser:

The letters are yellow, a color that represents Cheng Xiaoshi. It could be him asking Lu Guang to go back in time to fix things, to which Lu Guang answers:

Lu Guang gets CXS's powers, goes back in time again and we'll arrive to the present time line... Maybe)? This I don't know because there's symbolisms of multiple attempts. A good example is this scene in the VORTEX/Overthink music video:

But yeah, who knows, this is all very speculative cause they haven't shown us a lot.

Probably the "trip abroad" that they mention on season one is not Yingdu? Maybe they do go on a journey, but something more happy like those images they've shown us of CXS and LG riding a car, with beach wear. Idk guys, I'm just trying to find a bit of happiness in here lol.

Anyway, the only thing I have for certain is that the Yingdu Chapter is going to HURT, just like the rest of the donghua.

Finally got my hands on Link Click: Bridon Arc/Yingdu Chapter Ep. 1!

as of YE4, here's my understanding of the timelines so far. this is just from lu guang's time hopping experience. I still think time itself might be broken. years still don't line up, things happen in the incorrect months, etc. we are not fixing those. we're just looking at lu guang's diving points, and how we got from S1 to yingdu then back to S1 again.

the important things we learned from YE4 are:

lu guang was supposed to meet liu xiao somewhere else (not the bridon airport)

vein kills cheng xiaoshi some time after the doudou case, but before lu guang gets stabbed by red eyes

cheng xiaoshi in S1 did not discover his abilities through the yingdu event

possible timeline of events

original timeline (timeline A) happens. presumably, the overseas trip still happened and cheng xiaoshi discovered his dive ability there with lu guang by his side. house of the hotheaded probably were not messing around back then.

potentially, though not certainly, cheng xiaoshi dies at some point (not due to vein) and lu guang dives back in time to prevent this. this could happen once or multiple times (timelines A-1 to A-n). I don't actually think this is the case. I think vein killing cheng xiaoshi is the first time he dies, because lu guang gives a lot importance to 091305. however, I'm open to the possibility that cheng xiaoshi could've already died before vein got to him (I'm thinking of the many injured xiaoshis in the XƎTЯOVerthink video, so this bullet point is just to cover those possibilities).

at some point, lu guang is able to reach the first half of season one events (timeline B, potentially still timeline A). for the sake of this post, let's call it timeline B. they do the emma case*, the ouyang case, and the doudou case, among many others. they have NOT done the xu shanshan case yet. or if they have, they did not do any of the liu min-related plot yet.

by now, either in this timeline or in previous ones, lu guang has already met liu xiao. (YE4 lu guang suggests that they weren't supposed to meet liu xiao in the airport, so they must have met somewhere else).

the date is september 13, 2021. still in timeline B (season one first half), someone enters the time photo studio as a client. later on, vein kills cheng xiaoshi and qiao ling. and xiao li too, I guess?

lu guang may have dived at least twice to try to prevent this specific event, but still failed (timeline B-1 and B-2) (this is just to cover the animation discrepancies in the vein attack). it'a also possible qiao ling died in these timelines instead of in timeline B, as a result of lu guang trying to change things.

at some point, he dives into the sunset photo he took during the time he met cheng xiaoshi at the basket ball court. the year is 2019, somehow, instead of 2018. we now enter the yingdu timeline (timeline C). house of the hotheaded trio are messing around, cheng xiaoshi discovers how to dive for the first time alone (without lu guang). lu guang is tired, traumatized, and has no control over these changes.

this one is speculation, since we don't know how yingdu ends yet. but I think it's highly likely that lu guang will dive one more time to burn the bridon photo (timeline D) so cheng xiaoshi wouldn't have to experience yingdu arc.

it's important that cheng xiaoshi avoids yingdu for S1 to happen (again).

because lu guang avoids yingdu arc, cheng xiaoshi learns about his dive ability later in life, post-university, likely through lu guang himself so he could control the situation. we see this in both his nightmare in YE4 and cheng xiaoshi's flashback in S1E6.

this would also explain how cheng xiaoshi in S1 didn't know he could clap by himself into a photo until S1E9, since he had always assumed he needed lu guang to activate his powers.

and finally, this would also explain how cheng xiaoshi still doesn't know what happened to his parents. he believes they'll still come back one day, which is why he refuses to move out of the shop.

cheng xiaoshi and lu guang still go to some overseas trip (qiao ling mentions this in the doudou arc) but it's not clear if they still went to yingdu. maybe they went to a different country? or another set of events happen instead of what we saw in yingdu?

the year is 2021. we re-enter the events of season one, but this time from timeline D. but with drastic changes, because lu guang isn't the only one messing around with timelines, apparently.

some changes in timeline D from timeline B:

in april, someone spied on the time photo studio trio and created dossiers/files about them. most likely candidate is liu xiao.

*emma's case should've happened in september (during the third fiscal quarter), but it happens in april. it's up in the air if emma still died in timeline B or not, and if the liu siblings were involved originally or just now in timeline D. if emma did die originally in timeline B, cheng xiaoshi might not have noticed yet before vein killed him. also, I think it's interesting that in S1E1 lu guang said, "you didn't do anything stupid, right?" when he saw emma's death on the news. he was asleep when cheng xiaoshi sent the text, so he wasn't able to keep him in line during that particular moment of the dive. did cheng xiaoshi send the text in timeline B?

doudou's case, which they also previously solved by september (since they solved it before cheng xiaoshi's death via vein), is now solved in october. in the grand scheme of things, this one is actually... fine? doudou has been kidnapped for three years so it's not time sensitive when they save him a month early or later. how they found out the case may have been different in the two timelines though. it's possible the dad just found the time photo studio a month later than usual. why though?

lu guang also somehow avoided the vein attack node in this timeline.

new events take place in timeline D that lu guang hasn't done before: xu shanshan case that leads to red eyes, and the entirety of season 2. lu guang gets stabbed and he thinks, for a moment, that maybe he really can change a death node with this event. this should take them all the way to december 2021 or january 2022 (most of S2 happened in october, then they spent two months in the hospital after the tunnels).

if the above events are correct, there are four open-ended questions left:

I am not entirely sure, but I am open to the possibility that there's another dive that happened during season 2 (did lu guang ever use his hospital picture from the episode hostage?)

which of these dives does the S2 finale dive refer to?

there is one mystery that I don't know where to place yet: someone is clearly diving as cheng xiaoshi during yingdu arc (timeline C). we don't know how, or who (we assume it's cheng xiaoshi for now, because that's the simplest answer, but that's not confirmed. we just know his eyes are gold in the vivian case). if so, why? yingdu shouldn't have led to S2 because YE4 implies that it's important that S1 cheng xiaoshi did not discover his dive powers in yingdu. so why dive back to the yingdu timeline? does the yingdu arc function like season 1, where we'll revisit these scenes again in another timeline? why? I wonder if this is how lu guang decided to get rid of the photo.

as always: why is time broken? 2018 is now 2019. april is september, and now september is october.

mmmkay lmk if I missed anything else. but yeah, I think lu guang must've gone through the first half of S1 twice already. I wonder how far along cheng xiaoshi was in his character arc when he died. if he did the earthquake arc by then, he should've started his journey of accepting "past or future, let it be."

The camera at the start of the OP is the same one Lu Guang has in his hands when he first met Cheng Xiaoshi.

Butterfly motif number 1

~ white butterfly right before Cheng Xiaoshi drags Lu Guang.

~ white butterfly symbolizes purity, healing and innocence in English. Seeing as Lu Guang gets dragged outside of his body as a younger version of himself, this is likely referring to the first timeline.

~ Butterflies overall symbolize love and romance in Chinese folk tale, which adds a lot to the common butterfly motifs.

Liu Xiao was holding open the very end of the collection of ‘Sonnets’ by William Shakespeare

~ the final Sonnet, Sonnet 154 is about unbreaking love

~ Sonnet 154 is a retelling of ‘Cupid and the torch parable’, the moral of said story being, quote, “without trust, there can be no love”

~ Sonnet 154 is often considered to be a pair with Sonnet 153.

A feather falls into (what we can assume to be) Cheng Xiaoshi’s blood

~ feathers have many spiritual meanings, but the most accurate to assume one for this context would likely be the association to otherworldliness or heavenly messages.

Everything in Lu Guang and Cheng Xiaoshi’s room burst into photographs, most of which being of jobs they’ve taken, while Lu Guang stands in the middle of the room, shielding his eyes with his arm.

Directly after the previous excerpt, there’s a montage of Cheng Xiaoshi and Qiao Ling just having fun, not much to add to this one other than it pulled on my heart strings a little bit.

We see Lu Guang standing still in a bunch of colored different settings, back to the screen. It goes to the basketball court where he and Cheng Xiaoshi met, of which was greyscale, he wipes his eyes with his arm, visibly sobbing before an arm (presumably Cheng Xiaoshi’s) grabs his wrist and drags him away, the entire scene gaining color.

What we can assume to be Lu Guang’s notebook’s pages flips backwards, all of the pages are the exact same words, until it finally reaches a different page. Atop said page is a bookmark of sorts with the word ‘Rewind’ written on it in large, clean letters, different handwriting from the journal, they look printed.

Throughout all of this, any and all appearances of Lu Guang are colored and rendered differently from the rest of the artstyle. His coloring is finicky as well.

Solely auditory aspects

“I wish I could tell you the truth”

~ There is something keeping Lu Guang from being capable of telling Cheng Xiaoshi about the time loop. (And it better not be Vein or so help me GOD)

“I stopped painting excuses red”

~ this line implies that Lu Guang, to some degree, blames himself. I believe it means that at some point he stopped blaming Cheng Xiaoshi’s deaths on the universe or things out of his control and began to blame them on himself. ‘Painting excuses’ meaning blaming it on something else, while ‘red’ refers to the danger of the world.

“Rewinding right in front of the eye”

~ someone knows of Lu Guang’s rewinds.

~ We can assume it to be one of the new evil trio, as Li Tianchen never showed any form of awareness to this fact.

~ Lu Guang has tried everything he can think of to change Cheng Xiaoshi’s fate, all of which leading to ‘dead ends’ (Cheng Xiaoshi’s death)

“But I couldn’t make it to you”

~ We can take this line either metaphorical or literal

~ On the metaphorical hand, it would simply mean that he failed, but in the literal sense it could mean that Cheng Xiaoshi was too far away to save, which also brings the question of whether thats metaphorical or literal.

“Trapped in endings I don’t want you to know”

~ I believe this is the answer to the first line, that as much as Lu Guang wants Cheng Xiaoshi to know the truth, he can’t tell him about his own deaths leading to his inability to be honest.

I finally caught up with Bridon Arc so it's time to post thoughts on it :

THE GOOD :

1 - I love that this arc is focused on LG's time traveling shenanigans and how it affects him and others and I love how the Original Trio is allowed to have cute moments again, especially since S2 was, as far as I'm concerned, Much Ado About Nothing. I've seen people worry that this arc had too much fanservice over actual plot, but I would argue that in this specific case, the fanservice IS the plot. The writers don't want you to forget, not even for one second, that Loverboy Guangguang is on an epic quest to save The Apple Of His Eye and get back his peaceful life. I understand that it might come off as too forced/strange but I believe that this is the result of S1, S2 and BA having very different groups of writers with very differents wants and goals, so there's really nothing we can do about it. I for one enjoy seeing LG's POV, no matter the circumstances, so that's more food for me

2 - The animation is beautiful and fluid and the VAs are killing it. Good job everyone!

3 - The comic con/MiaoMiao's storyline felt like a return to S1 "case of the week format" in all its beauty, which was a breath of fresh air for me given how S2 turned out. LG and QL looked gorgeous in their cosplays too.

4 - I was pleasantly surprised by Xia Fei's character, he's like a cute little puppy stuck in the PolyHouse of Nightmares. I love how he wears his emotions on his sleeve and how offended he is by Hat Guy's mere presence

5 - Vein's chara design fucks severely and I love how his default facial expression is "grinning like a Saturday cartoon villain"

THE NOT GOOD :

1 - The treatment of female characters in this arc really makes me clench my teeth. QL gets the best showing so far, but she still gets kicked out of the plot after two episodes (girl fight back!!!). Blond Lady doesn't even have a name nor did she officially appear in the story and there's like two episodes left. The worst offender is of course Vivian. It seems like the writers tried to replicate the emotional impact of Emma's storyline but failed to understand how and why it worked in S1. Poor Vivian gets killed like a dog and is quickly forgotten by CXS and the plot... The most dangerous job in the linkclickverse is being a woman

2 - Hat Guy's character just..... does not work for me. It's not like I didn't try to stay open-minded, but the more Link Click wants me to see him as cool and mysterious, the more bored I feel. The Russian Roulette scene was embarrasingly long and the soundtrack "Earth" playing in the background just made it MORE comical. I'm sorry dude, I can't buy what you're selling, come back later
