Speaking of spam Here's a lifehack that has made my Daemyra fanfic reading so much easier. Typing "Otp: true" in the filter box. It's the ao3 function that cuts down all fics to those who mention that one specific pairing.

Yes I've missed out on on some amazing fics that also add tags of Aemma/Viserys or Alicent/Criston as secondary pairings (or trigger warnings as is any ship involving Alicent). Since "Otp: true" only narrows down to fics that tag only one pair specifically without room for negotiation. But it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make to skip the spamming number of Aemond x Mary sue fics that overcrowd the Daemyra tag on AO3.

So if you ever find yourself having a bad day and absolutely thinking about leaving a mean comment on someone's backyard for purposefully tagging every couple under the fandom sun just to get their favorite pairing some attention then hold your horses (had it happen to me a while ago in the Klaroline AO3 tag, I endured an entire Delena fic thinking Klaroline was going to show up somewhere and it was mentioned in a cursory way at best... I didn't leave a mean comment but just know Whoever that author was, I hope they get hit by fanfic karma )

And you're one of those people who is occasionally annoyed at the way some writers just tag all 8 Bridgerton pairings when most of them are mentioned in a few sentences at best.

Use "Otp: true" it will cut your available fics in half yes, but I guarantee. Authors who only tag one pairing seriously mean business and are not playing around.

And some days you just want to log in your AO3 account and have someone tell it like it is. One pairing in the tag. what you see is what you get. Straight up. No hesitation.

I say this knowing I'm writing a fic that's got at least 3 Bridgerton pairings tagged and Otp true would exclude me from most searches. But even then. I know some of you need this tip. .

So go forth use the ao3 filters liberally my friends.

Note: yes of course we all want to support our fellow writers in their budding forays into the writing of original characters and multiple simultaneously happening relationships and I'm not saying don't read fics that have tags that take up an entire screen and read like something a spam bot would create. But some days. When life gets hard. You just don't feel like reading anything but a fic exclusively dedicated to your main ship. And that's really something universal

Summary: As the second son of a Duke, Klaus Mikaelson has the means and all the time in the world to indulge in every manner of wild activity with very little respect for the regiment of polite society. That is until his brother decides he's had enough of his vulgar ways and gives him an ultimatum. Caroline Forbes is a young debutante in search of true love and adventure. Except her aunt wishes for her to marry a somber Viscount who's already buried three wives. When their paths cross, they realize they might yet strike a deal that could satisfy their relatives and benefit them both.

Chapter 4: Thin Ice ✨ "Good morning, Your Grace," he greets his brother with a solemn nod, dripping sarcasm, before flopping down on the chair across from him. "To what do I owe the dishonor of being summoned to your illustrious presence?"

Usually, when Elijah wants to talk and meddle with his private business, he shows up at Klaus' place uninvited and unannounced. A message to meet him at his gentlemen's club is a rare occurrence, and all the more worrisome for it. His first instinct was to send the messenger back with a simple note saying No, thank you. But curiosity ate at him, even if he knows, for a fact, he's bound to regret it. He always does.

Elijah folds his newspaper carefully, and then pushes a glass of sherry across the table towards Klaus. He looks from the glass to his brother, eyebrows arched.

"Elijah, I'm scandalized," he marvels, sipping from the drink. At least they serve good liquor at this place. "Sherry at 10 in the morning. I should’ve worn my satin breeches for the occasion."

"I'm merely adapting to my audience," his brother delivers in a bored tune.

"Whatever happened to make you fun? Did someone die?"

His brother crosses his legs, brushing an invisible fleck of dust from his impeccable trousers. "Caroline Forbes."

A trope which you are virtually certain to hate in any fandom.

I appreciate the “virtually” lmao. Outside of like... really egregious stuff (one that comes to mind as a recent example is That Subplot in Bridgerton...), I tend to be well, but what if... about these things.

One trope I reaaaally hate across the board is “female character is pressured/forced/exhausted into settling with her Relentless Pursuer”. Haaaaate it. Especially with female leads. Even in the cases where I’ve appreciated a Relentless Pursuer ship, I didn’t actually want them to pair up and be endgame, just for the female character in question to reap the benefits of such a ship while hopefully avoiding the drawbacks lol.

Another one is “immortal characters turned human”. I haven’t ALWAYS hated it; for example I liked Katherine’s human arc. But overall, I consider it a waste (and now that I think about it, one key different between Katherine and other arcs like this is that it was never an ~aspirational story for her, but that she considered it a drag and a punishment. Because being immortal and powerful is better ffs xDD).

A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom.

Again, nice almost.

But yeah, blood sharing. Of any kind. I love it to pieces, always have. Blade, the Buffyverse (where I got it with practically all my favourite dynamics -Bangel, Angel-Faith, Angel-Wesley...), Mad Max: Fury Road, Samruby in Supernatural, Memori in The 100, Raphabelle in Shadowhunters, Klaroline in TVD...

You put a blood sharing scene in me, from drinking to apparently freaking romantically charged blood transfusions xD, and I’m into it.

The previous evening is a bit of a haze, but he thought there had been something about the woman that left him utterly unable to resist her. Looking closely now, he cannot remember what it was. She's handsome, he supposes. But most of them are.

He could swear she was blonder.

"Greta!" he growls for his maid. The strange woman grunts in complaint, burying her face under the covers. "Time to wake up, sweetheart, the party is over," Klaus snaps.

"Up already sir?" Greta asks as she appears at the doorway. "It's still early."

"Indeed. Terribly so." He climbs out of bed, covers slipping away as he stands up. Greta doesn't even blink at his nudity. She's used to her boss' uninhibited ways by now - and more than a little intimate with the sight herself. “I need a bath,” he instructs. “Can you see this one out?”

"Don't I always?" she snides. "May I ask where you're going, sir?"

Klaus throws his robe over his shoulders, tying the knot around his waist. "Promenading."

Chapter 1: A most disturbing predicament ✨

"Your life choices, Niklaus..." He trails off, pondering his words.

"Disgraceful? Disgusting? Insulting? Go on, brother. Whatever adjective you can come up with, I've already heard it."

"Yes, it is all of that, I suppose. But right now, your life choices are also damaging Rebekah's prospects."

"I don't see how."

"Your club," he says, emphasizing his disdain for Klaus' business venture. Like half of the high society that attends brunches and balls at Elijah's estate don't also enjoy the pleasures of the flesh at Klaus' club. "It's starting to get a certain reputation. Not a good one, obviously. And as you know, our sister is going into her first season this year. She'll be introduced to the queen next week, when she will choose the most eligible of the young women debuting this season. Everyone I have spoken to regarding Rebekah's prospects has repeated the exact same thing to me. You are toxic to her reputation."

Klaus bursts into laughter. "I'm sorry, brother," he reigns himself in. "Are you trying to tell me that I should - what? Close my club and join the church choir because Rebekah is trying to find a husband?"

"In short words, yes, that's exactly what I'm saying," Elijah deadpans.

"You can't be serious, Elijah. My life has nothing to do with Rebekah's. She's got you and mother to vouch for her respectability. Every noble family has their black sheep. That's what second sons are for. You inherited the title and the duties and I - well, I suppose I inherited the time to do whatever I please."

Elijah's smile is caustic. "You are right about one thing, brother. I did inherit the title and the duties, such as managing the family's estates and fortune. This beautiful home, for instance." Elijah gesticulates towards the room. "One would say it's a bit too lavish for a bachelor with no ambitions. And it's part of the dukedom, of course. Which, officially, makes it mine."

Klaus narrows his eyes at his brother, knowing exactly where he is going with this and not caring one bit for it. "Are you going to kick me out on the street, brother? Is that what you're saying?"

"Don't be so dramatic, Niklaus. I won't kick you out. I will offer you a deal."

Klaus sighs, rolling his eyes as he raps his knuckles against the wooden table. "Is it that time of the year already, when you try to convince me of the wonders of marital life?"

"Not quite. Since amicable persuasion has no effect on you, I figured I must try a different avenue."
