Formwork Traveller (FT) is used for in-situ concreting of segments using the balanced cantilever construction method. The FT load capacity is designed based on the segment weight. The Fast Split system is used to assemble one pair of FT on top of a hammerhead with limited length. The FT self-launching is done with the help of hydraulic cylinders, following the orders of the launching sequence. The formwork traveler can be also used to cast the mid-span stitch segment.

Historical Bridge Awareness Month was created to draw our awareness to preservation and appreciation of historical bridges. You can check online resources such as an interactive state map of bridges to find any historical bridges in your state.
In honor of Historical Bridge Awareness Month, we wanted to share historical photographs of the Clifton Suspension Bridge in England from our Special Collections. Completed in 1864, the Clifton Suspension Bridge links Clifton in Bristol to Leigh Woods in North Somerset in England. Construction began on June 20, 1831, and the bridge design was created by William Henry Barlow and John Hawkshaw, based on an earlier design submitted by Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The total length of the bridge is 1,352 ft (412m,) and the height is 331 ft (101m) above high water level. Brunel died in 1859 without seeing the completion of the bridge.
The bridge is known for the first modern bungee jumps, which were performed by the members of the University of Oxford Dangerous Sports Club in 1979. (information taken from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clifton_Suspension_Bridge)

Baakenhafen Bridge forms the main link to a major new harbour development in Hamburg, spanning the Elbe River to connect the northern half of HafenCity’s Baakenhafen quarter with its southern part. After winning an international design competition with architects Wilkinson Eyre, BuroHappold Engineering undertook full engineering design for this deceptively simple looking structure. CHALLENGE Flexibility and sustainability were vital to the success of this project. The bridge had to sustain multimodal forms of transport, while also blend seamlessly into the surrounding cityscape. SOLUTION Working closely with the architect, the BuroHappold Team designed an elegant bridge that has three spans and a total length of 170 metres. We used advanced analytical methods to develop and test the design, which conceals transverse ribs and geometrically complex stiffened girders, for structural strength and flexibility, within the steel deck to create a visually fluid superstructure. VALUE From the outset, our engineers placed flexibility and sustainability at the heart of this project, ensuring the final bridge could sustain multimodal forms of transport while also blending seamlessly into the surrounding cityscape. Since the Baakenhafen Bridge opened in August 2013 it has gained significant recognition, culminating in a RIBA International Prize in 2014. The project was also a finalist in the prestigious German Bridge Construction Prize awards.
