im so glad i found out you hate bridgeshipping. when i got the notif i almost had a heart attack and thought you supported incest or something. its great i didnt have to unfollow you. also. opinions on mayskew?
bridgeshipping is problematic because hes minor-coded and therefore its immoral to ship him with the other minors lol (not even getting into the evil alter drama :/ )
mayskew was such a good ship i cant believe skew left him and married ethan later it was so fucked up tbh. like ik ethan cheated on skew and skew on ethan but i wish they could just have a fucked up polycule together. river scene its the way you are

Burdensome Divinity
A PCFC fic for the background characters
A paper-sheet masked god shook the ground in their wrath, whipping the air into a frenzy as they spoke and pushed back against the more minor divinities they surrounded themselves with.
Whatever caused their ire and wrought madness that was splintering the earth and crystalizing it into sharp points, it was absolutely incomprehensible.
Sitting in the shade of an azalea tree, the hardwood-hearted flora remained unshaken by the tantrums of the gods.
Taking shelter in that unmoving shade while also watching the raging divine-brought disaster that would last a single day before being undone was a ‘cat’ and a ‘cat’.
Hardly cats sometimes, maybe one a cat and the other a non-cat, and often not the only cats present. But in this shade and at this time, it was just these two that were subjected to bearing witness to the gods once more.
Observing from a distance the flurry of activity as blue-haired goddesses and armor-wearing gods circled within the eye of the storm. Mice and beasts running about below in the most high stakes game of “the floor is disintegrating underneath us” while their divine counterparts leapt through the air on moving would-be projectiles.
It was a lot. The gods were a lot. Everything they did was a lot.
The platinum-blonde cat blithely asked “Does becoming a god seem worth it at all? So much power, and all of it to just drag everyone into their fits.”
The purplish cat paused before speaking, amethyst in paw gone untapped into yet, “No. I wouldn’t even accept it if it were offered to me, I don’t care for godhood.”
She hummed in response; a nonverbal acknowledgment, a noise of agreement.
(Godhood would be a lot of responsibility, have a lot of drawbacks with few to no returns… it’d be absolutely tiring.)
Two cats in the background in companionable silence. Listening to whatever was recorded on a purple crystal shard, letting attention drift away from the a common event of deific hostility to a fallen azalea bloom.
(All they had to do was be present, to be nearby to see miracles, and fill the emptiness.)
Neither were gods in this world; both held power over nothing and no one, and there was no corner of their beings that wished to change that.
The long and intense life of a god was not a boon; more like an over-romanticized burden whose weight was underestimated. Or perhaps it was a ridiculous thing for people to fight so hard to attain when it would do nothing but bring new and harder problems with more demanding solutions.
(Perhaps the stars would never know their names, acknowledge them in their distance from the light of gods, but there was peace to be found in silence when that silence was shared by many.)

omg omg omg did u guys catch the latest pcfc episode? i was NOT expecting the jenna lore drop today... the last of the jernmas... what even is a jernma? this explains why bridge has always called her jernma, he's the only one who knew what she truly is and he's been hinting at it all along. i'm a little worried about jenna's plans to use goop to protect herself from the microwave, what if bridge finds a microwave that works on goop? so much to consider!
also excited for the jenna poizon teamup!! i'm so happy the writers are finally giving jenna more friends and enemies and lore i cant wait to see what they do next. i really hope they explore this storyline more and don't just leave yet another plot hole lol

do you care about bridge or do you feel like you *have* to care about bridge since bridge and evil share a body?
That's a bit close there, only I can call him Evil. Understood? Evil Alter to all you guys, anon or not, I have my ways of finding you if I wanted to.
...
What? He looks off to the left. I'm not being too much.
...
Fine, I'll answer the question.
It started off as the second. Mostly keeping Bridge safe to keep Evil safe. It evolved. Bridge can be... good company. Something of a friend, I suppose.

none of you fucking freaks understand canon. the prison arc was an important learning curve. skew's character is fucking complex okay? he didnt just start out evil their enitre society was fucked up like that. did we watch the same media even?? its not like the other characters are forgivable either. ethan commited some fucking warcrime or the other off screen, mary literally turned evil??? and dont get me started on elo. fuck off and delete your tumblr so i dont need to be plagued with your existence. blocked.
dude I fucking hate skew and all his fans. Like, he’s literally toxic, manipulative, and a general FREAK? Why would anyone like him? They just ship skew with people for the toxic yaoi and that’s horrible. These people are into manipulative boyfriends. They’re gonna end up with a stalker someday and get their asses murdered if they keep this up. Skew fucking sucks. I hate him so fucking much I can’t even put it into words. All the horrible things he’s done… and yet people still like him? It makes me sick. Dni if you support him even after everything he’s done.

i need to know your thoughts on bridge
(@axopostssometimes btw i just cant ask as a sideblog)
I think that bridge is a good morally grey system, and fits in among the cast as someone that may not be trying to become a god but instead is trying to find acceptance among people that match and can even outfreak him
I think that really does a lot to set him apart from others, and really paints a stark contrast between Bridge and the other alters—like Evil Alter who actually IS trying to achieve godhood by ripping it out of some other god’s being and Seawatt who already has a sense of security in his identity and doesn’t need acceptance from the other cast members
(This personally helps make sense why Skew likes Bridge and hates Seawatt and has no opinion on Evil Alter—Seawatt doesn’t need him! But Bridge and Evil Alter both have something to gain from Skew and that reassures Skew that they won’t leave him.)
I loathe his infantilization though—I get that Bridge is younger mentally in comparison to Evil Alter and Seawatt, but Bridge isn’t a 5-year old, Bridge is self-sufficient and could emancipate himself and be perfectly fine (in fact, i personally suspect and headcanon that he IS already emancipated from parental care) and his autism is NOT a good reason to babify him.
Bridge even when he’s the one in front does a lot of crimes and atrocities, not just Evil Alter. (Seawatt is surprisingly the least problematic alter.)
#pcfc#pcfc bridge#pcfc analysis#pcfc evil alter#pcfc seawatt#unreality#does this make ethan’s flirting with bridge a bit odd knowing what bridge is looking for? maybe#but I’m not gonna crucify ethan/bridge shippers— or any bridge shippers for that matter.#call me problematic idc#no comment about the mutual unhealthiness of skew and bridge’s relationship—platonic or not

bridge is a great and complex character: the analysis
yall have a hard time actually understanding what’s going on in the show. sure, it’s silly, but the characters are really well developed and everyone seems to ignore it (even the self-proclaimed sane ones)
anyway, bridge is great. he is very accurate system representation that we need. first, if yall remember that episode in season 3 where he had a complete breakdown. it was a harsh reality check. even though the systems in this show are generally chill with their system and don’t have many negative side effects, that breakdown showed very clearly how sometimes systems just break down. all the alters went through a shift after that. the shift is visible if you’re paying attention.
now, seawatt and cyn. seawatt is a much more fleshed out character while cyn is more one-dimensional. i personally like that cyn is more one-dimensional. it shows that the creator took time to realize that not all systems are the same, and it really shows how bridge is a polyfrag system. not all alters are created equally. some only really like bugs, and that’s fine. and seawatt’s interactions with everyone shows that he’s as much as a host as bridge is. seawatt has change, he shifts when he’s bitchy, he has people he prefers talking to, he has likes and dislikes. even the amount of source separation is done right.
and how bridge acts at times shows how systems can regularly experience denial. there’s no “original alter” or “core” but bridge seems to have been the host for their entire life, so it’s natural that bridge feels more like a “core” even if those don’t exist. and the way he will suppress switches and sometimes seem to ignore the other alters is a great way of showing that.
anyway, ramble over. i’ll have some more fanart soon!! probably of cyn or ethan, i love those guys<3

I think the Halloween Special’s characterization is canon, even if the plot line is not. And this is important for the character of Dolphin.
(Analysis below)
I know that a lot of people are eager and happy to consider pcfc’s Halloween special—Revealing the Trout-pocalyse—not canon both because a lot of the main cast was put into the background and a whole slew of the throwaway background characters became the main cast with some notable exceptions
(like, God [Mary] and Yuri God [Niki] were present but not a lot was seen from the mainstays like Elo, Skew, Bridge, and Ethan and so on so forth)
And because of the whole “everyone died in the end” nihilistic-type ending that makes the practically-movie-length-special a ‘pointless waste of time’
But I think this was the writers’ way of trying to softly test out how audiences would react to an expansion of the cast (the fandom reacted poorly) but this means that the characterizations in the Halloween special may very well be canon. Which means… I don’t want to see any Dolphin apologists!!
(That is a joke, the type of dolphin apologists i don’t want to see are the people going “she never did anything wrong and it was the writers who maimed her character”, and to them i say… you wouldn’t have been shocked by the ‘Steals Skew’s Godhood’ arc if you cared to watch the special.
She can do catastrophic damage and do it for fun just as much as Skew and Mary often do in every episode and I’d like to see some critical thinking about her actions from before that pivotal arc. Everyone talks about how the fandom mischaracterizes Bridge, but no one is talking about how infantilized and sanitized the fandom made the ‘God of Mercy’.)
The Trout-pocalyse was foreshadowing for Dolphin’s character, and the fandom just wasn’t paying attention.
