Home of A. A. Milne (Winnie-the-Pooh’s author) and Brian Jones (Rolling Stones)

            Cotchford Farm is in the village of Harfield, East Sussex, south England. It is close to Ashdown Forest and belonged to A. A. Milne in 1925 where he wrote his Winnie-the-Pooh books, inspired by the landscape and his son Christopher Robin and his toys including a toy bear called Winnie.

            The next owners were an American couple, the Taylors who installed the swimming pool in 1969.

            In 1968, Brian Jones from the Rolling Stones’ purchased Cotchford Farm in Hartfield, East Essex. Jones drowned in the swimming pool in 1969, aged 27.

            The house was then purchased by Alistair Johns in 1970. The house was put up for sale by Harriet Johns in 2012 and failed to sell, it was put up for sale once again in 2016 and sold in 2017.

I'm so broke that literally every dollar helps.

“As Tears Go By” is a song written by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and The Rolling Stones’ manager Andrew Loog Oldham. Marianne Faithfull, Mick’s soon-to-be girlfriend, recorded and released it as a single in the United Kingdom in 1964. The next year, The Stones released their own version, which was included on their album “December’s Children (And Everybody’s)” and as the B-side to their single “19th Nervous Breakdown.” This song became “a metaphor for being old” according to Mick and was “the least Stones song” according to Keith. This symphonic ballad contrasted greatly with their previous blues-derived rock hits. The song is simply about the narrator being stirred by the simple things in life, something riches can’t buy. Here is a clip of The Stones performing the song on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1966, overdubbed by their studio recording.

Lewis Brian Hopkins Jones nació el 28 de febrero de 1942 en Cheltenham, Reino Unido. Fue una figura clave en los primeros años de la banda, marcando una huella imborrable en los álbumes Aftermath, Between the Buttons y Their Satanic Majesties Request. Su talento multifacético lo convirtió en el guitarrista rítmico y el multi-instrumentista más destacado de la banda, influyendo profundamente en el sonido único de los Stones.

A pesar de no ser reconocido como compositor y de no haber cantado en ninguna canción, su creatividad y su habilidad en los arreglos fueron esenciales para la identidad sonora de la banda en sus primeros años. Sin embargo, su vida estuvo marcada por un comportamiento errático y tensiones dentro del grupo, lo que llevó a su salida de la banda en 1969, pocos días antes de su trágica muerte a los 27 años, convirtiéndose en parte del célebre Club 27.
