It was 15 years ago: Emmylou Harris’s All I Intended to Be was released on Nonesuch. You can hear it again here.
A stellar cast of musicians and friends join Harris for this Brian Ahern-produced set showcasing her gifts as  songwriter, song finder, and interpreter. Guests include Dolly Parton, Vince Gill, Kate & Anna McGarrigle, and members of the Seldom Scene.
"Like cool water on a hot day, Emmylou Harris's bruised-angel voice remains a welcome balm," says the Boston Globe. "Harris has meticulously written and chosen a group of folk and country songs that support the nuances of that voice perfectly."

Greta Garbo by Cecil Beaton, 1946
"After dinner I told Brian Aherne that it must be thrilling to have Garbo staying in his home. “My dear boy, it’s not at all a thrill,” he said. “It can be goddamned embarrassing. When I go down to the pool in the morning to have breakfast, she’s already out there sunning herself, stark naked. I never know which way to look.”

A brilliant behind the scenes picture of the 1987 News At Six Christmas party, courtesy of Michael Lucas’ Twitter! ❤️🌟

The Christmas party was an unforgettable scene of friendly chaos in A Model Daughter! Emma Freeman left much of the scene open to improvisation from the cast, and it was filmed over nine hours. It was incredible that the cast kept their energy going for that long, and even went out for Chai Hansen’s final filming day drinks afterwards!

In perhaps an ode to the upcoming S3’s Logies, the camera crew awards ceremony was hilarious. Damo won Most Out Of Focus Shot after buggering up the focus on a shot of Bob Hawke casting his vote at 1987’s federal election so badly that it was unusable, and good old Brian won Most Idiotic Injury. Turns out as he was rushing to cover a world peace vigil, he knackered himself so badly on a barricade that he had to receive medical attention for an hour! Uh oh!

Cheryl made a delightfully cheeky aside to Dale about doing Helen’s wedding makeup, and a compliment from Brian to Cheryl about her costume led to things becoming rather cosy between them! Looks like Cheryl won that night too, and that vomit Esky came to good use! 😉 Ross also had the time of his life that night too; hosting the awards alongside Dale, and pouring beer all over himself! I mourn the loss of the scene of him and Brian tearing a Christmas tree apart that Michael alluded to on his Twitter! That would have been so great! 😂

We saw a momentous reunion between Dale, Tim and Ross; the Russell Street gang were back together, and Ross kissed Tim’s cheek with great gusto. Gosh they’re such lovely mates, these two. As for Gerry, he immediately clocked that Tim was the cameraman from Dale’s past that Dale had told him, and told Dale that Tim is “clearly still interested in [him].” Maybe these Christmas celebrations had to go elsewhere, and as the three would discover in heartbreaking fashion, Dale doesn’t really have a sort of place, and life isn’t as merry as it might appear.
What was your highlight of the Christmas party? Cheryl and Brian getting together was a wonderful surprise for me, and I especially loved the awards!
