Something very special came in the mail today, something I ordered several months ago, which I figured would arrive during a time of celebration:

Don't get me wrong, I'm super happy. This robe is incredibly well made. It's vibrant. It's soft. It's literally made of dreams.

I refuse to call this my breakup robe.

I ordered it because, to me, this robe isn't about Ed and Stede's breakup. It symbolizes the growth and love they both share. It represents the times when Ed allowed himself to experience softness.

This robe is my battle robe, truly. I'm wearing this bad boi as I make calls, write letters, and type up a million billion comments and emails. This robe symbolizes a time when our fandom has formed a united front. This robe is filled with love and tenderness and toughness.

Anyway, I got really emotional when I opened the package today and saw this familiar fabric. Sending you all love as we keep fighting the good fight 🖤⚔️

That thing for me is still Our Flag Means Death. Those cheeky little queer pirates have been living in my brain since last March. And the amount of fantastic fanart and merch that has come out because of it? Immaculate.

I am genuinely heartbroken at the news that Our Flag Means Death isn't being renewed. We were so close. We did so good. We are good.

I read the news while AT WORK. And now I'm crying in bathroom AT WORK. It's a weirdly isolating kind of pain I'm feeling right now knowing that no one in my physical life understands this pain, this devastation, I'm feeling.

Thank you all for providing this safe space ship to laugh and cry together.
