(forgot to post this here sorry) so hard being the only bravelands fan on earth 💔💔 seriously though it’s so heartbreaking to read a book with so much potential and have absolutely no fan content of it despite how much insane potential there is to make even angstier animatics than the existing wc ones. so many wc fans pass bravelands up because “it can’t be as good as warriors”. like yeah it isn’t. admittedly, it is better. the pacing is better, the characters have some level of depth, it doesn’t just follow one group and their incredibly repetitive “child has a vision of a prophecy and has to save the clans” storyline (I promise I’m a massive warriors fan but come on it’s flawed guys) and dude this book is sooooo much more intense. I haven’t listened to it on audible once without tensing every muscle in my body and tearing up. READ. IT. also sorry for not coloring the lineart I got lazy.

Started re-reading Bravelands recently so here's Swift and Valor. I have…mixed opinions on Swift, but I do like Valor a lot. I also feel that with this image I'm somewhat improving on my lions, I'm actually kind of pleased with how this came out for once.

Firepaw and Greypaw sleeping together.

I did this fanart piece of Firepaw and Greypaw becoming friends and sleeping together in the apprentice’s den after Firepaw was free from his Kittypet collar and was accepted to train as a new warrior’s apprentice before being called Rusty but after he was accepted into Thunderclan he was given the name Firepaw by the clan leader Bluestar to train as a new apprentice in Thunderclan.

Firepaw and Greystrip become close friends and they sleep together in the apprentice’s den making Firepaw think “Thunderclan is my home now”.

I’ve been rereading my first Warriors Cats book in the series called “Into the Wild” because I know that’s still a well-loved series written by the Erin Hunters which they also written book series like “Seekers Bears”, “Survivors Dogs”, “Bravelands” and “Bamboo Kingdom” which I read most of the “Survivors Dogs” books and just read the first “Bamboo Kingdom” book in the book series but I plan on rereading the “Survivors Dogs” series and the first “Bamboo Kingdom” book that I own and someday getting more books that follow up in the “Bamboo Kingdom” series as well.

Although I also plan on going reading the “Bravelands” series which is a series of books about African animals and maybe also the “Seekers Bears” series as well.

I think the various of book series that the Erin Hunters have written starting with “Warrior Cats” are real good books to read that it’s a hard book to put down because of the story telling that goes into all the book series that the Erin Hunters written to this day.

I’m inspired by the storytelling of the different animals surviving in the wild and trying to find food and all that jazz, it makes me want to write my own stories inspired a bit after the Erin Hunter book series and I’m also inspired by the “Cartoon Saloon” movie “Wolfwalkers” and the movie “Avatar” not the one with the Airbender but the one with these blue people known as the Navis that fight to save their home from the Sky People which I saw the first Navi Avatar movie but haven’t gotten to the second one yet and I plan on watching some Natural Geographic, Disney Nature and Discovery+ documentaries about animals out in their natural habitat because I love learning about our world especially our natural world around Mother Nature itself.

Reading the Erin Hunter books and watching documentaries on tv really helps me to respect nature more even so going to my local zoo as well and it inspires me to want to make animatics, comics, artworks and literature stories around animals living, growing, eating and surviving out in the wild instead of just focusing on stories that take my main oc Adean the purple dragon’s point of view although I might build on to the comic series of “Adean the Dream Guardian” where she is actually a Chinese zodiac dragon guardian while her sister Kristy is the Chinese zodiac tiger guardian because really I was born in “the year of the dragon” while my sister was born in “the year of the tiger” would fit great for storytelling behind my two characters Adean and Kristy who are sisters with my webcomic series “Adean the Dream Guardian” be a story about the two sisters and one being a shapeshifting dragon girl and the other one being a shapeshifting tiger girl.

Speaking of sisters I’m actually going to the zoo this morning with my sis today and we’re going to see the animals this time especially the new red pandas that are at our zoo now.

I hope to take a lot of pictures of the animals at my local zoo and use them for reference for creating my own animal characters or animal artwork but it’s gonna be a fun day for my sister and I later this morning.

Yeah, these stories really should be seen as darker. So many of them have death counts nearly rivaling GRRM, for the wordcount. And kids die ALL THE TIME! It's just because they're animals and animals are cute that they get this reputation. Critter Fiction is dark as fuck, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

It was brought to my attention just how many animal protagonist stories i’ve read in the past year, so here’s a little homage to them. There’s eight series that I’m hat-tipping in here, some more or less obvious than others based on how much i liked them and how much room i realistically had in the frame

here's a much more recent piece that is still considered 'old' imo. Fanart for the third best Erin Hunter series, Survivors!!! (imo it goes Warriors (simply because i grew up with it and have a fondness for a lot of the characters,) Bravelands, Survivors, and then Seekers!) I DIG those funky little doggies!! The storyline is so good, and I relate to Storm HELLA HELLA. Like if I was into the whole 'kinning' thing, she'd be one of my 'kins' for sure. She's just a big misunderstood ANGEL. and yah i ship her with sunshine so so so much those two have the best chemistry helped each other grow and defended each other to the end i have so many big feelings for them   the quote that sunshine says is a direct quote from the last book i think!! i drew it in school, so i might have messed up the wording a bit, but it's the same idea

Ao longo de gerações, quatro clãs de gatos selvagens dividiram o território da floresta de acordo com as leis prescritas por seus ancestrais. Mas os gatos do Clã do Trovão correm sério perigo porque o malévolo Clã das Sombras se fortalece a cada dia. No meio dessa turbulência, aparece um “gatinho de gente”, Ferrugem, que pode vir a se tornar o mais valente de todos os guerreiros.

A série de livros foi publicada no Brasil pela WMF Martins Fontes e possui seis livros, que correspondem a série original dessa saga –  hoje já possui mais de 40 livros! A editora ainda não deu sinalização de trazer a continuação da série, mas não precisa se preocupar, a história tem um começo, meio e fim nesses seis livros.

A saga é composta de diferentes séries, sendo a inicial A Profecia Começa (composta pelos seis livros já publicados no Brasil) e depois A Nova Profecia, O Poder de Três, Presságio das Estrelas e Uma Visão das Sombras (em andamento), cada um com seis livros. Para completar ainda mais a experiência, a saga conta com spin-offs, chamados de Super Edições, que exploram um recorte temporal específico de determinados personagens.

A autora, Erin Hunter, na verdade não é uma pessoa. Erin Hunter é um grupo de mulheres – atualmente conta com sete nomes envolvidos – trata-se um pseudônimo coletivo escolhido a dedo por elas. Precisavam de um nome único para não fragmentar a série pelas estantes das livrarias (visto que cada uma foi responsável de determinados volumes) e o sobrenome deveria ficar próximo do de outro autor com temática semelhante (Redwall, Brian Jacques), Hunter se encaixava nas suas necessidades, além de lembrar o instinto primário dos gatos, já Erin era um nome neutro, não muito feminino.

Após o sucesso da saga Warriors,  Erin publicou outras sagas que envolvem animais e aventuras épicas e fantasiosas, Seekers (de ursos), Survivors (de cachorros) e o próximo lançamento Bravelands (um leão, um elefante e um babuíno que devem se unir e atender ao chamado da natureza – eu quero muito ler esse aqui).

  A coleção estrangeira

Quando encontrei o primeiro volume fiquei muito curiosa, um pouco receosa, admito… Tinha minhas dúvidas se as aventuras de um gato seriam tão envolventes quanto prometiam (eu amo gatinhos, mas veja bem, meu temor era ser muito infantil), porém foi só começar a ler e eu precisei caçar os outros livros. Se você tem um gato vai identificá-lo nas páginas e se envolver ainda mais com a história, cada jeitinho e cada gesto descrito vão ser muito familiares.

Não se preocupe se você não é uma pessoa muito felina, mesmo sem ter a simpatia pelos bichanos, se ignorar que eles arranham, dão patadas, silvam e miam, a história possui uma trama intrincada. Disputas territoriais, religião, política, romance, guerras, traição, mortes – pois é, tem mortes, sangue, o pacote completo – e tradição recheiam os capítulos e rodeiam o personagem principal, Ferrugem – que serve para inserir o leitor nesse universo, o gatinho de gente novato vai recebendo explicações e descobrindo a história de seu clã e de seus membros.

Gatos Guerreiros

O leitor acompanha o desenvolvimento de Ferrugem, de um jovem gatinho de gente, para o grande guerreiro Coração de Fogo. Como todo bom protagonista, além de possivelmente estar envolvido em uma profecia, os problemas parecem cair sobre suas patinhas. Movido por um grande coração, ele é justo, honrado, muito corajoso e carismático, mas ta odo momento ele precisa provar seu valor por não ter nascido entre seu Clã, sendo obrigado a conquistar seu espaço e a confiança dos outros gatos – de seu Clã e dos outros.

Todo o universo fantástico criado para a história dos gatos é muito interessante e cheio de detalhes, os gatos possuem sua tradição e hierarquia, tendo papéis específicos em seu Clã. Além do líder e dos guerreiros existem as rainhas, os anciãos, os aprendizes e o curandeiro. Disputas constantes fazem necessário que os gatos possam se cuidar sem um veterinário – mordomia dos gatinhos de gente – tornando o curandeiro alguém essencial e obviamente, ele cuida de tudo com teias de aranha, musgo e outras plantinhas. As rainhas são as fêmeas prenhas, que se mudam temporariamente para o berçário até que os filhotes estejam bem desenvolvidos.

O sistema de aprendizes por si só é um charme, é a primeira mudança de nome quando deixam de ser Filhote de alguma coisa para Pata de alguma coisa, para então, ao completar o treino e serem reconhecidos como guerreiros de verdade, receberem sua verdadeira alcunha. Tudo isso, é claro, abençoado pelo Clã das Estrelas, formado pelos antepassados felinos que seguiram o Código dos Guerreiros – eles se manifestam em visões, sonhos e servem como guias, quase como uma religião, ao ponto duvidarem de sua existência e ajuda – sendo extremamente venerados pelos Clãs.

O Clã das Estrelas

Por sinal, a existência dos Clãs e seu funcionamento é muito interessante. Os conflitos e as disputas territoriais, bem como os acordos e o equilíbrio de forças é sensacional, um destaque na narrativa que a torna mais intrincada e digna de outras tramas de disputa pelo poder que envolvem humanos e seus reinos. As outras séries, ainda inéditas no Brasil, dão continuidade a história dentro do Clã do Trovão – Clã do nosso protagonista – mostrando as novas gerações de guerreiros.

A leitura não é complicada, mas também não é infantilizada. Ela flui muito bem, daqueles livros gostosos de pegar nas férias para ler embaixo das cobertas com seu chazinho da tarde. Definitivamente não vai funcionar para você se seu gosto envolve apenas leituras intrincadas, pesadas, cheias de detalhes, com grandes questões e respostas filosóficas – é uma literatura juvenil, afinal de contas.

O número de fanarts que se encontra pela internet é incrível também, acho que não é para menos, já que se trata de uma saga tão grande e querida – aliás, ajuda bastante as árvores genealógicas que estão por aí. Também devo ressaltar a quantidade de fanfics, em português mesmo, produzidas pelos fãs.

Apesar de só me restar esperar que as outras séries sejam disponibilizadas, esta que já foi publicada tem um lugarzinho especial no meu coração ♡ e espero que ganhe um no seu também!

Just a quick art of Tailgrabber/Breathstealer to celebrate the release of the newest Bravelands arc earlier this week! I do have mixed feelings on her as a character, but at the same time I'm just super happy to finally have a hyena protagonist (a xenofiction rarity) this time around!
