Tbh, I've never understood the hate for Christmas decorations left up year round, especially just lights. If it doesn't look ratty and gross, who cares about shiny, colorful ribbons or evergreen wreaths? (Honestly, I dont even care if it looks ratty, cuz it's not my life and potentially makes my house look better by comparison.)

Yeah, lights up year round are just a nice decoration, honestly. 

As regards ratty decorations, I think the issue is that it might make your house look better but it also makes everyone’s house worth less money. We’re stuck in this weird terrible system where the appearance of every individual house contributes to the home values of the entire neighborhood, so even if you don’t care that your neighbor’s house looks like crap, it’s taking thousands of dollars off the value of your own home when it does. People get really shirty about that, rather than about the general crapness of the overall system. And “leaving holiday decorations up” is an indicator to some that the person doesn’t care about the appearance of their home, which implies eventual yard/home ugliness, which circles back to the “home values” thing. 

I don’t mind twinkly lights or wreaths, and I bought my home to live in and not as an investment so the home values thing is unpleasant but not enough to make me be a dick to someone over it, but I do admit I don’t want to see Santa in someone’s yard in July. Though that’s not exclusive to Christmas decorations, I’d be the same with fourth of July flags in December. It’s just boring to look at after a while.

I totally based how I played Patience off my memories of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. :P And thanks to @ageorwizardry for alpha-listening and asking about the pronunciation of ‘row’ as in the British word for an argument, which led to me looking it up and finally learning that this word, in fact, rhymes with ‘now’ and not ‘know,’ which is how I’ve been saying it in my head for like over 20 years. And having to re-record the bit, lol.

I giggled to myself way too much when I was looking for images of piles of paperwork for the cover and saw the one I chose, with the yellow tabs. Not bananas! But a fun callback to copperbadge’s banana story, and played into the title I made up for this post chain/story.

Tea or coffee: ahhh, if I had to choose between the two I suppose tea is preferred??? (But honestly. I'm down for a good smoothie more than anything)

In the light of day, his own bed is also just a naked specter. Bodies have slept there before, he realizes as he takes in the pale blue drapery. Fucked there before. It makes him feel small, evanescent in their stories, like this house is saturated with a human presence he never had to inhale out in the open plains or mountains of his treks.

Get used to this, he tells himself, smoothing down his hair and taking out the vial. He winces as he dangles it close to his eyes. 

This world is never going to slow down, and now you’re part of what put it into motion.

That is not an apple corer. That is a torture device cleverly disguised as a kitchen implement.

It’s fucking awesome is what it is. I cook with apples like twice a year and I’m still considering buying one. It leaves so much more pulp on the apple than I ever have peeling by hand, and it cores and chops it at the same time so you just slide it off, hack it into quarters, and dump it in. Fantastic.

It smelled fantastic for hours yesterday. I can still get whiffs of it when I walk in the kitchen, it’s GREAT.

Look, this is quarantine cooking, we work with what we have! (I did actually have apple cider vinegar and vanilla, I just figured it was a good chance to test out the vanilla vinegar.)

I fully understand that the preponderance of evidence is that George Lucas put absolutely zero thought into what Naboo’s culture was actually supposed to look like outside of what we see on screen, but as far as unintentionally effective worldbuilding goes, establishing that Naboo a. has a tradition of electing literal children as figurehead rulers of its planetary government, and b. apparently also has a tradition of assassinating these children with sufficient frequency that dressing up a bunch of other children as decoy targets has become standard operating procedure by the time of Padmé Amidala’s reign suggests that maybe the fact that this random backwater is a breeding ground for Sith Lords isn’t as unlikely as it initially appears.
