Molly’s Cracker Jack Collection
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cracker Jack was a popular caramel popcorn and peanut food and every box came with a prize. Molly loved to collect and trade small toys from inside these boxes. Open the Cracker Jack Box and help Molly eat the pretend popcorn. She keeps her growing collection in an old cigar box. It includes two marbles, a ring, two tiny animals, a World War II airplane and three paper toys.
Details about Cracker Jack and how I made the collection under the cut.
What are Cracker Jack prizes?
Cracker Jack is a caramel coated popcorn and peanut mix that was first sold around 1896. It is a staple of American baseball games and other sporting events. It’s even mentioned in the song that plays at every baseball game, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame”, written in 1908: “Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack, I don’t care if I never get back”.
Tumblr media
Cracker Jack started giving prizes in their boxes in 1912, and throughout most of the century, these prizes were highly collectable among kids. Most of the prizes are plastic animals and other trinkets, as well as many paper or cardboard items like games and collectible cards. Some even included tiny books or flipbooks or dollhouse furniture. It’s fascinating to look through the years and see how things changed, from metal to plastic, the different pop culture references, the war years, et cetera.
Frito-Lay bought the company in 1997 and changed all of the prizes to flat things like tattoos, stickers, and jokes. Not the same experience at all–that’s what I remember from growing up. And now they don’t even include anything but a QR code for an online game.
Tumblr media
Research
To make Molly’s collection, I looked through the 1940s pages of a collector’s guide on Internet Archive to get a sense of what was available at the time. I took some things from the 1930s and 1950s too. I printed out some of the flat games and collected other items based on what I could find in a teeny tiny scale–these toys were already really small so it was hard to find things that are small on an American Girl scale. I also did some searching about how kids collected these, and someone said they were often kept in old cigar boxes, which might not be PC enough for PC, but I liked the idea so I made a cigar box out of a fancy cardboard jewelry box I had. (more on collecting and trading below).
I have ideas to add more prizes, like printing out movie star trading cards and coming up with a way to make pins–I’m picturing something like the doll Grin Pins.
Tumblr media
Molly Lore (head-canon)
I can imagine Molly trading away all of the warplane cards and toys to her brother Ricky for dollhouse furniture, jewelry, animals, movie star items, and so on. There were, unsurprisingly, tons of planes and other war items in Cracker Jack in the 1940s. It seemed like Molly was always getting planes and Ricky was always getting stupid doll furniture! They both liked the games, though. Molly and Ricky gave any leftover prizes they didn’t want to Brad.
One day Jill decided she was “too mature” for Cracker Jack and gave her collection to Molly, which was more annoying than it should have been, because there’s something kind of not fun about suddenly getting things all at once that you’ve been collecting slowly. Molly invited Susan and Linda over to pick through Jill’s collection, each girl choosing one thing at a time until it was divvied up. At least sharing with her best friends and not keeping it all to herself made it a little more fun.
Tumblr media
Resources:
This collector’s guide was instrumental in my research. It both gave me specific ideas and a general sense of the experience and patterns of the prizes. There were a few telling editorial remarks like this one about Barrettes on page 127: “Left a lot to be desired if a little boy got it. (Then again, I’m sure that many a little girl was disappointed to get a “war” prize).” This is what gave me the image of Ricky and Molly trading their prizes and both of them being happy about it!

Another resource I used was this selling website:
Although the search function is pretty awful, it is good for scans of paper prizes.
Here is the google doc I used to collect the pictures I wanted to print in what seemed an appropriate size: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/196ByHxFQ8G21VbtBmT5H2ZCmigQnAYsUfbzru0buivM/edit?usp=sharing

just finished watching the iwtv movie (because i refuse* to pay the paywall on amazon) (*i will end up paying the paywall on amazon :( unless someone has super legal way for me to watch the show 🥺)
review: it was good i think maybe uh like… roughly 7.629 / 10
claudia’s performance absolutely slayed she was perfect. literally giving kirsten (my best friend i am on a first name basis (i had not heard of her before today)) a 10/10.
tom and brad (<- i am on first name basis with them also) did ok i guess,, i mean they definitely got their characterisation down. louis is the perfect little miserable milk sog webkinz wall throw plushie and lestat is a massive bitch and also That Guy so i mean,, yeah. yeah they did well. that’s them. they just looked a little odd.
some of the effects were a little goofy but thats part of the fun. i love obviously plastic rat numbers 1-67 (i did not count them but there were so many) and also plastic bats 1, 2 and 3.
very funny they couldnt spring the budget for the telepathy. made the Bad realisation that this version of louis is like bella swan, so now it’s hilarious.
loses points for making the lateral incisors fangs. regains them for having bonus canine fangs as well. thats like 8 fangs each. almost overkill, but thats what vampires are built for. so it’s allowed. in my humble opinion. loses points again for i think being inconsistent with fang placement idk i was only sort of paying attention. who am i kidding i was paying attention im like 80% sure that they were inconsistent. i am also inconsistent in that ive already decided the final score of this movie in that this does not affect the score at all.
speaking of fangs they shouldve given themselves more time to get used to having fangs because sometimes the way they held their mouth looked remarkably uncomfortable. not the point. this one did affect the score slightly.
not homosexual enough. why did they give louis a wife and kid albeit a dead one what happened to his brother ? censorship more like censorSHIT !! amiright chat
crusty ass theatre des vampires. also why was lestat not there ? what was the reason
ending ??? didnt make much sense??? lestat was there immediately after??????? like within 10 minutes of louis leaving??? how did he know. oh fuck the lack of telepathy made ME forget the telepathy. but why tf was he in sanfran (<- im on nickname basis with this city too)

NYC Agrees To Pay MILLIONS To BLM Rioters In Settlement $13,000,000
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
NEW: NYC Agrees To Pay MILLIONS To BLM Rioters In Shocking Settlement
By ChrisJuly 20, 2023
New York City has reached an agreement to compensate over 1,000 protesters with a sum exceeding $13 million. These individuals were either arrested or had encounters with the police during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. This settlement, which is currently awaiting a judge’s approval, is one of the largest ever in terms of mass arrests and was filed in Manhattan’s federal court.
The lawsuit pertains to 18 protests that took place in New York City in the week following the tragic death of George Floyd in May 2020. Those eligible for the settlement can expect to receive $9,950 each. The aftermath of Floyd’s death led to protests and riots that caused at least 18 fatalities, property damage amounting to $350 million in the Minneapolis area, and nearly $2 billion across the nation. In just a few days, about 10,000 people were arrested.
The settlement provides a way for the city to sidestep a potentially costly and politically sensitive trial. This comes as numerous other cities across the U.S. are in the process of negotiating their own settlements related to the handling of protesters, some of whom caused fires, threw objects, broke windows, and damaged buildings.
However, the settlement excludes protesters who were arrested in connection with violent activities — those charged with trespassing, property destruction, assaulting an officer, arson, or weapons possession. Also, those captured on video obstructing police from making arrests may be deemed ineligible.
The lawsuit lists former Mayor Bill de Blasio, retired NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea, and other police leaders as defendants. As per the settlement agreement, neither the city nor the NYPD is obliged to admit any wrongdoing. The National Lawyers Guild, representing the plaintiffs, accused the NYPD leaders of violating protesters’ First Amendment rights through harsh tactics and unlawful arrests.
City attorneys defended the police officers, stating they were responding to an unruly and unprecedented situation. They pointed out protests where police vehicles were set ablaze and officers were attacked with rocks and plastic bottles, arguing that there was no systematic effort to suppress people’s right to protest.
This settlement does not mandate any changes in NYPD’s policing practices, unlike several other ongoing lawsuits seeking injunctive relief. Earlier this year, another class-action settlement was announced that would award $21,500 to protesters arrested in the Bronx, potentially totaling around $10 million, including legal fees.
In addition, over 600 individuals have lodged separate claims against New York City relating to police action during the 2020 protests, according to the city’s comptroller, Brad Lander. The settlements in these cases have so far cost the city nearly $12 million.
The 2020 protests were a catalyst for what could potentially set a precedent for how similar lawsuits are handled in the future.
However, the ongoing lawsuits could potentially lead to further changes in NYPD’s policing practices, a city that’s been plagued with crime over recent months. Just a few weeks ago, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg confessed his own personal anxieties about crime in the city, despite his office’s attempts to reduce crime rates.
This confession occurred against a backdrop of public belief that crime is widespread in New York, a belief that contradicts the most recent NYPD statistics. “I know the statistics that transit crime is down. But when one of my family members gets on the train, I get a knot in my stomach,” Bragg said.
“I live here, I’m raising my family here, so we have a lot more work to do. We do a number of long-term investigations involving wire taps,” state the DA who indicted Trump. “We do targeted enforcement, so we are seeing the returns on that investigative work, and we’re going to do that kind of work.”

“You were recommended to me by Adams Auctions in Dublin.”
I am DELIGHTED. It would be brilliant if I can receive restoration work from the premier auction house in Ireland - and it seems like this is the first shot they’ve given me.
Wow!
Anyway…Catherine drove here, and unloaded this BIG canvas for me to re-stretch. The painting is very fun, and is by “ a neighbor artist, elderly, sort of an unconventional person…”
There’s a huge, beat-up frame which I will tackle when the painting is completed, hopefully can marry the two things together?
Started work this afternoon.
Everything that’s possible to be done WRONG - has been achieved here.
The painting is not painted on canvas - it’s some sort of heavy-weave linen?
It’s “tacked” onto the wooden stretcher bars with actual brads, hammered in halfway, then pounded flat. About a million of these.
The painting is attached to the WRONG side of the stretcher bars - the flat side, rather than the side which slopes toward the center, so you don’t see the imprint of the bars.
I’ve never seen a painting more curled, cockled or bulging.
The strainer has weird hardware rather than standard slots for keys. Made in Italy, the plastic parts do NOT hold, and just collapse inward.
The strainer bars are a solid ONE INCH out of square - in other words, they were cut wrong.
The painting is out of square - and the artist has trimmed off ALL but 1/2” of the tacking edge, so there’s simply nothing to grab with the canvas pliers.
It’s gotten damp along the bottom edge, and the paint surface is de-laminating.
It’s a wonderland…..

Idén is összeállítottuk a tavalyi év legjeit, vagyis azokat a lemezeket, dalokat és más kulturális kedvenceinket, amiket 2023-ban a legjobbaknak tartottunk. Bíró Máté, Kiss Ákos és Pintér Miklós személyes kedvencei húszhuszonháromból. Ahogyan a tavalyi évben, úgy idén is jóval heterogénebbek lettek a listáink, mint korábban, emiatt szerkesztőségi összesítést most sem készítettünk, mert nem sok értelme lett volna. Ezúttal is tartózkodtunk a szöveges magyarázatoktól, kizárólag a listákra koncentráltunk, de azért egy általános összefoglalóban mindannyian leírtunk a gondolatainkat 2023-ról. Jó böngészést mindenkinek! *** Pintér Miklós, főszerkesztő Az év lemeze: Tesseract – War of Being AZ ÉV LEMEZEI Tesseract – War of Being Ayron Jones – Chronicles of the Kid Brad – In The Moment That You’re Born 3rd Secret – 2nd 3rd Secret Candlebox – The Long Goodbye Metallica – 72 Seasons Mudhoney – Plastic Eternity Duff McKagan – Lighthouse Sky Cries Mary – Everything Goes Somewhere Temic – Terror Management Theory AZ ÉV DALAI Brad – In The Moment That You’re Born Ayron Jones – Blood in the Water Tesseract – Echoes és The Grey Mammal – Keanu Reeves The Pulltops – Seasons Change +1 Rett Smith and Jessica Lea Mayfield – Cabin Song +2 Terra Twin – Hanging Around KULT TOP …

[ fourth entry of thirty themes challenge ] published on: june 8, 2020 pairing: michael de santa & reader word count: 1.8k+ soundtrack: tombstone (2017 version), in lupin the third: the blood spray of goemon ishikawa
Stepping outside, [Name] pulled out her phone and quickly dialed the cabs company’s number. After a few rings, her request for a cab was denied, as they had every cab and driver occupied. The woman swore under her breath and started to walk away from the old factory. Perhaps, she would use the bus instead.
When rain started to pour down, she humorlessly laughed at her luck. First, I almost get dragged into some gang bullshit. Then, my car breaks down and I can only use it in a few days after it’s repaired. My old friend contacts me to come to his new safehouse or what-the fuck-ever, and now it’s raining.
A car slowed down as she stood by the road, waiting for a green light. She ignored it with a huff until the window rolled down and a familiar voice called out. [Name] finally turned and narrowed her eyes for a second before sighing and approaching the car.
‘Hey,’ the man inside the expensive car started.
‘“Hey” yourself,’ she snapped.
He rose his hand as if in peace offering, ‘Woah, calm down, alright?’ He sighed, ‘Do you need a ride home?’ His icy gaze burnt into hers and she looked down for a moment before staring into his eyes again. Nodding, he unlocked the car and allowed her to slide into the comfortable seat.
‘Thanks,’ she said, crossing her arms over her chest, ignoring the wetness from the rain that clung onto her clothes. If she had her car or any other means to get home, she surely would not have accepted his offer.
‘No problem.’
The ride was silent as he stepped onto the pedal. The lights outside seemed like a blur as he sped down the road. The radio’s volume was low, and she recognized the station—Los Santos Rock Radio. A faint quirk appeared on her lips. Seems like some things haven’t changed.
He turned to glance at her for a brief moment, ‘So, where do I drop you off?’
‘Sandy Shores,’ she crossed her arms and leaned against the seat.
The older man chuckled, ‘Why am I not surprised you chose that place? Somewhere far from civilization, but close to crazy drug dealers?’
She turned to look at him, giving a humorless quirk of her lips, ‘Why am I not surprised you chose to live among the rich fuckers in Los Santos?’ His smile fell and he frowned, gripping the wheel tighter. ‘No, really, it suits you. That's where most assholes and snakes hide, around luxury and fake people and their plastic surgeries.’
‘[Name], I—’
‘No! Shut the fuck up, Michael!’ She snapped, turning her torso so she could stare at him furiously as he drove in the highway.
Michael sighed but remained quiet, allowing her to continue, ‘You expect us to just forget about it? Brad is in prison, from what Trevor has told me, you turn out to be alive and living the fucking American Dream, and we…’ She took a deep breath, rubbing the bridge of her nose.
The woman looked out the window for a moment, staring at the moon. ‘I… I mourned you. We all did. And turns out you were alive, out here.’
‘Look, [Name], it's complicated,’ Michael glanced over, trying to make her gaze meet his icy stare. ‘I just want to apologize for the trouble I made you go through. I'm sorry for making this so… painful to you.’
There was a knowing tone in his voice, as if there was a secret only both of them were aware of. She ignored his comment and focused on listening to the radio. But, it was not long until she started to ponder about something else—a friend.
‘What about Brad?’
‘What about him?’ His voice got rougher.
‘Does he know? That you're alive?’
‘I honestly don't know.’
‘We’ll need to find a way to help him escape,’ she mumbled. With a sigh, Michael looked at her from the corner of his eyes before shaking his head. ‘What? Did you expect me to just let him rot there?’ [Name] crossed her arms, raising an eyebrow.
He did not answer; instead, he just focused on the road, eyes narrowed and hands tight around the wheel. The woman turned away, staring out the window, as the voice of the legendary vocalist of Queen echoed through the vehicle.
She recalled the old times, when the gang was still together. Brad, Lester, Trevor and Michael; they were more than just allies to her. They were close friends. She trusted them with her life, and they trusted her with theirs. They were like…
A family. My family. But it had been torn apart, years ago. Perhaps, there was still hope to reunite it. She knew that Lester and Michael were well and safe—and her heart trembled at the thought of them, of him, being gone. Brad just needed to be rescued from prison.
‘How’s Trevor?’
‘He’s fine. He got himself a new “business”.’
‘“Business”?’ Michael echoed.
‘Gun trafficking and meth,’ she shrugged. ‘Welcome to Trevor Phillips Enterprises, my friend. Though, Lester has probably told you. And I’m sure he has more details about the business as well, if you’re that interested.’
‘Are you two still in contact? Does he ask you to help him out in his “business”?’ She remained silent, frowning. ‘I’ll take that as a “no”, then.’
‘We kind of parted ways, after your… “death”. Back then, when you and Brad got shot, as you know, both of us tried to fight the cops off.’
Trevor gripped his gun with a desperated look, ‘Ain’t gonna leave you, Mikey!’
‘Go!’ Michael pressed a hand against the wound, grimacing. Brad groaned weakly beside him. ‘God, I'm not gonna make it. Fucking gonna bleed out.’
‘We’ll get both of you out of here!’ [Name] tried to approach the two, stepping out of the cover.
‘No, stay back!’
Just as he said that, a bullet hit where she would have stood next. A shiver went down her spine; she would have been dead if she had continued. ‘I’m not gonna leave you here, Michael Townley! I can’t—’
‘Just, go!’ There was a hint of fear in his eyes; was he afraid of dying right there and then? Or was it fear for something else?
The sound of the sirens increased, and [Name] felt like the world was coming to the end. There was little possibility of her and Trevor surviving and escaping the police. But, what about Michael and Brad? Her heart ached and her hands shook.
‘What the fuck are you doing, just standing there?!’ Trevor’s howl made her snap back to reality, ‘Fucking shoot! Kill those motherfuckers!’
‘Fucking hell!’ She yelled before aiming at the nearest officer. Before even making sure he had dropped dead, she moved on to the next. Everything was a blur, as her eyes watered. Is this the end?
Michael hissed in pain, and pled them to leave. Brad was silent, and she feared the worst. However, she could not look away from the enemy; she continued shooting and shooting. The police officers kept falling, but more kept arriving to fight against her and Trevor.
‘[Name]!’
They were running out of ammunition, as well as outnumbered; two criminals against what seemed like hundreds of cops. She spared a glance at Trevor, who quickly reloaded his weapon, shouting swears and growling. His gaze would have scared her, once. However, in that moment, it did again—there was only pure rage and bloodthirst.
‘[Name]!’
She moved away from the window with a jump. Michael was giving her a worried look. The woman sighed and glanced away, ‘Sorry. I was just… thinking.’ He did not press further.
They were slowly approaching Sandy Shores, and she felt that same asphyxiating sensation on her chest. That same anxiety that had tormented for years. [Name] found it so hard to believe he was really alive. When she heard that he was alive from Lester—when he sent those pictures—, she thought for sure they were fake. Yet, there was hope in her heart and she agreed to work on whatever he was planning if what he was saying was indeed true.
And so, her heart was beating rapidly as her hand reached for the doorknob. Swinging it open, she found herself in shock and awe—perhaps happiness and bitterness. The same man she had mourned and loved for years was standing right there, in front of her. He looked different, but the woman saw Michael Towney. Except, he was now De Santa; and the truth broke her. Knowing that he had been so close, while she spent almost ten years mourning and crying and destroying her life (or what was left of it) because of a man who had lied to his partners, his friends.
Despite her anger, despite every twisted and bitter thought in her head—
Fuck.
The woman groaned and rubbed the bridge of her nose. ‘Something the matter?’ Michael quickly looked in her direction.
‘No,’ she waved her hand. ‘I’m… tired, that’s all. It’s been a long day.’
‘Yeah, I bet,’ he chuckled.
‘You pop out of nowhere. How did you expect me to react?’
He was quiet for a moment, before sighing. ‘Well, definitely not as calm as you were. I expected you to punch me or something.’
She nodded and scoffed, ‘Well, I definitely wanted to punch you.’ The woman placed her hand on her chest, ‘But, I decided to be a professional.’ The man shook his head. ‘No, really. Not only were we doing business, I thought of Lester’s poor asthma.’
‘Right,’ he said.
As they approached the location, she quietly indicated him where to turn. In comparison to the city, Sandy Shores looked miserable. It did not mean it was any safer than Los Santos, but she felt better when being by herself and surrounded by people who seemed to resemble her kind.
‘There,’ the woman pointed at a small, white house. It was not in any better condition than the others, but as long as she had a roof over her head, she would not complain. The man stared at the house with what seemed to be disgust, but he quickly wiped that face off his face. The car slowly stopped by the house and [Name] spared him a glance. ‘Well, thanks for the ride.’ She quickly opened the door and exited the car.
‘Wait, [Name]!’ Michael called. She froze mid-way of closing the door and leaned down to stare at him in confusion. He looked away for a moment, as if sheepishly, before turning to her again, ‘I need you to keep this a secret—especially from Trevor.’
‘Really? You want to continue this lie for how long, exactly?’
He sighed, annoyed, ‘It’s complicated. And you know Trevor. If he finds out—’
When he finds out, she thought. ‘He’s gonna be pissed.’ He went silent. She shrugged, ‘Well, it’s not like we are still in contact, but… sure. Even if I don’t approve.’
‘Thank you,’ he smiled faintly. ‘Look, I, uh… I’ll keep in touch.’
She nodded and forced herself to bring a smile to her lips, despite the painful sensation on her chest, ‘See you soon.’ The woman closed the door and stepped away from the car, watching longingly as he slowly drove off.

Page 3: Control freak Tom Cruise is a basket case after he couldn’t charm Cher into leaving their steamy fling out of her upcoming memoir and the image-conscious actor was so panicky over Cher spilling their sexy secrets that he personally called her -- they had a strong physical attraction when they met at a White House event back in the ‘80s and eventually they hooked up and it was very hot and very intense and over in a matter of weeks but it left a nice impression on Cher so she only has good things to say about their relationship but what happened between them could prove very embarrassing if it got out and Tom doesn’t want that to happen -- unfortunately for Tom Cher wouldn’t say anything about what she intends to write and wouldn’t promise to leave Tom out and that’s made Tom even more paranoid and he’s wondering if he’s going to have to take legal action
Page 4: Kanye West is keeping a secret divorce diary to use against wife Kim Kardashian and its potential dishy dirt has her famous family quaking in their boots -- Kanye’s convinced Kim’s about the kick him to the curb and is putting together collateral to crush her and her family is the couple spirals into a $2.2 billion divorce, Jennifer Garner at 48 is flaunting her best body ever and her motivation is to compete with ex-husband Ben Affleck’s 32-year-old girlfriend Ana de Armas because Jen was tired of hearing how Ben’s fallen head over heels for Ana and wanted to remind him what he’s missing -- Jen’s always been very confident of her looks but she decided to step out of mom mode to remind everyone how hot she still is
Page 5: Devastated Lisa Marie Presley has been relying on an old pal Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan to repair her shattered life in the wake of the suicide of her son -- Lisa Marie and Billy were spotted together at Graceland not long ago and he’s been a huge source of support for her -- though they were rumored to have had a romance in 2018 Billy’s fully committed to his baby mama fashion designer Chloe Mendel and Lisa Marie would like nothing better for them to make beautiful music again but she knows he’s taken and she needs his friendship more than ever.
Page 6: Ambitious anchor Gayle King is calling the shots at CBS This Morning after executive producer Diana Miller quit in the latest backstage shake-up; there was tension between Gayle and Diana and now Diana is gone -- it’s like the show gave Gayle the keys to the car and even if she runs it into a ditch the network gives her more power -- Gayle also clashed with former co-host Norah O’Donnell who successfully snagged the anchor chair at CBS Evening News but Norah hasn’t wowed in the ratings and it’s a matter of time before Gayle gets the coveted job
Page 7: The mystery over the fate of country great Kenny Rogers’ body has left his own family members in the dark -- sources close to the singer said he’d been cremated while others charged his body is still on ice and Kenny’s body is missing as far as most people are concerned and there’s no place fans can go and pay their respects -- it’s most likely he’s been cremated and the ashes have yet to be scattered but there have also been whispers in certain circles that he could have been cryogenically frozen to preserve his body for a later date, many of Hollywood’s biggest names are abandoning Tinseltown to escape the COVID-19 pandemic and a collapsing entertainment industry -- Julia Roberts hightailing it to San Francisco and Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson getting citizenship in Greece and Pierce Brosnan put his Malibu mansion on the market and Jim Cameron is peddling his prized L.A. compound
Page 8: Frustrated Jon Stewart’s plans to reinvent himself as the next Steven Spielberg have flopped and he’s pretty unhappy about it and he wants to be viewed as a respected serious filmmaker but he’s hit more roadblocks than he ever saw as a comedian or talk show host -- he was left fuming when Irresistible his latest outing as a director was met by mediocre reviews and limited to pay-per-view and streaming services last summer even with box office draw and best buddy Steve Carell in the cast -- he could snap his fingers and get any TV project but he’s setting his sights much higher and he’s walked away from millions of dollars to go back to TV because he wants to prove he is a creative force in the film industry
Page 9: Frustrated Brad Pitt is threatening to have ex Angelina Jolie dragged to jail if she refuses to end her harassment campaign against him and hash out a divorce and custody agreement and he’s had it with Angie’s intimidation tactics and is fed up with being labeled a bad dad and it’s no exaggeration to say Brad’s scared of Angie and he wants professional witnesses around them at all times when he attempts to see their children but for Brad though it would be the ultimate revenge to see Angie led away in handcuffs, Nashville legend Travis Tritt is trying to keep up with country music’s up-and-comers by getting a lift from plastic surgery and recent photos show the 57-year-old almost unrecognizable with a line-free face and skin as tight as a drum -- Travis is getting ready to put out his first album of new music in more than ten years and it’s hard to blame the guy when he’s completing against singers 30 years younger
Page 10: Hot Shots -- Julia Garner got a touch-up on the Staten Island set of Inventing Anna, Reverend Run visited a mural of slain Run-DMC bandmate Jam Master Jay in NYC’s Hollis Queens, Vanessa Paradis and daughter Lily-Rose Depp in Paris
Page 11: Lovestruck Chrissy Metz is already talking marriage and babies with newly unveiled beau Bradley Collins but she has a history of falling for guys fast which has previously been a recipe for heartbreak and while nobody’s doubting Bradley’s intentions there’s a lot of confusion about why they kept their romance totally hidden until now, the devastating fire that tore through Rachael Ray’s home has made her reassess her life and she and husband John Cusimano are now considering adopting a baby -- losing so many of their possessions in the fire made them realize they weren’t all that important anyway so they bulldozed the house and are rebuilding and the word is they’ll add a nursery
Page 12: Straight Shuter -- Danny Trejo cuddled a rescue pup (picture), Lizzo is the first plus-sized Black woman to ever grace the cover of Vogue but pulling off the shoot was a challenge with most designers unable to find clothes that fit her, Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are very private and they’re livid with Lance Bass after he confirmed that they had another baby, when he was NBC’s biggest star Matt Lauer conducted almost every high-profile interview and now editors and doing a lot of cropping and zooming to preserve archived footage while removing Matt
Page 14: Crime
Page 15: Rock guitar god Eddie Van Halen who tragically died after a brave battle with cancer wanted to be buried with one of his Frankenstrat guitars that he created to define his signature sound -- Eddie felt like he owed his whole life to that instrument and he loved that thing as much as his family, Perez Hilton dished he kissed notorious skirt-chaser John Mayer in a New York nightclub and the lip-lock happened right in front of John’s then girlfriend Jessica Simpson who didn’t seem to know whether she was incredibly embarrassed or really turned on
Page 16: Cover Story -- explosive new autopsy evidence proves superstar Whitney Houston didn’t have to die -- eight years after she passed mysteries about her final moments and blatant blunders at the death scene point to murder and a shocking coverup and now investigators are demanding a new probe into the 2012 tragedy in a Los Angeles hotel bathroom and for Whitney’s body to be exhumed -- a private eye believes the autopsy proves Whitney was murdered but the case was never pursued because she was dismissed as a druggie and she was marginalized by law enforcement as a dead drug user
Page 18: American Life
Page 19: Horror movie legend John Saxon’s family started battling over his fortune even before he passed on July 25 -- in legal papers filed in May his son Antonio claimed the actor’s third wife Gloria Martel had been pocketing money against John’s wishes, Netflix faces criminal charges in Texas over the controversial film Cuties -- according to court documents a Tyler County grand jury indicted Netflix claiming it knowingly promoted visual material that depicts the lewd exhibition of the private parts of a clothed or partially clothed child younger than 18 -- Netflix said in a statement that Cuties is a social commentary about the sexualization of young children and this charge is without merit
Page 20: Suzanne Somers recently cheated death when she and husband Alan Hamel fell down a flight of stairs at their Palm Springs home and although Alan wasn’t seriously injured the terrifying spill left Suzanne in agony with two displaced vertebrae and forced her to undergo delicate neck surgery but she said the surgery went off without a hitch and promised she is on the mend, Hollywood Hookups -- Sofia Richie has unfollowed Scott Disick on Instagram, Zac Efron hopes to marry Vanessa Valladares, Sharon Stone and Mindy Kaling are both on the market
Page 21: Twelve years after she was placed under conservatorship Britney Spears remains unable to sign her own name on official documents -- Britney recently made moves asking to allow a different financial group to step in and help run her life as well as gain more freedom but lawyer Andrew Wallet said Britney to this day does not have the capacity to sign documents and make decisions for herself and she is susceptible to undue influences, the audience for the Saturday Night Live season premiere came away with more than just a few yuks they also received $150 because to get around New York State pandemic guidelines SNL gave each guest a parting gift of $150 paychecks as if they were employees, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may soon have a new neighbor in heavy metal maniac Tommy Lee -- the drummer was recently spotted checking out a $2.3 million three-acre plot next to the rogue royals’ $14 million home in Montecito and he was obviously pumped about living there but building the tattooed rocker’s home would mean tons of truck traffic and hopefully Harry and Meghan don’t get upset with the building work he’s planning
Page 22: ABC is reeling from a barrage of allegations from employees and on-air talent who’ve blasted it as a toxic and racist working environment -- the network which is owned by the family-friendly Walt Disney Corporation was rocked when Sunny Hostin the popular co-host of The View accused company executives of institutional and personal racism in her memoir and in later interviews about the book

Select L.A. County/California Races, March 3, 2020
Hi friends, it’s me again. I am here to offer my opinions on how you should vote. As before I am up front about my biases: I am a Warren supporter, I live in L.A. and I am actively pro-density (Yay SB50, you deserved better) and pro-transit. I live in the east Valley, so I tend to focus more closely on the issues that directly impact my side of town, though I try to keep an ear out on things countywide.
Last time I did this a couple of folks reached out to give me gifts to say thanks for doing this guide. This year, I would encourage anybody who wants to say thanks to donate $5 to Fair Fight,  a group founded by Stacey Abrams to fight voter suppression in the 2020 election. We’re gonna need all the help we can get in November to defeat the GOP, and Abrams is doing it in a smart way.
Other voting guides
This is my voting guide and reflects my general opinion on things. However, I am indebeted to many other guides, including the Knock L.A. Voter Guide and the L.A. Podcast Voter Guide for their takes. I don’t always agree with them, but both of these are invaluable resources for the progressive voter in Los Angeles.
L.A. City Council
This year the even numbered seats are up for re-election. Half of them are effectively uncontested, a couple are very much contested, and two are free for all because of term limits.
CD2: Ayinde Jones
Look none of these candidates set my heart afire. I work with Councilmember Krekorian’s office a lot (remember, I live in the east Valley) and he’s a competent politician with a ton of endorsements and community ties, I have no illusion he’s going to win his full term comfortably on March 3. However, I believe it’s good to encourage competition, and Ayinde Jones did a good (not great) job at the candidate forum I attended hitting on themes of how the parts of CD2 north of Victory are being left behind as the area evolves. I wish he were better on S50, but then again all three candidates were opposed, so that’s kind of a wash. I look forward to hearing more from Jones in the future.
CD4: Sarah Kate Levy
From a paucity of options to a surplus of options next door. CD4 is currently represented by David Ryu, a politician who came out of the Neighborhood Council system and went on to become...a city hall politician. Both his opponents are great. Nithya Raman is the founder of SELAH, a group that does amazing work helping the unhoused in Los Angeles, and recently led Times Up! Hollywood for a year. I’d vote for her in a heartbeat, but I am encouraging people to vote for Sarah Kate Levy for two reasons: first, Levy is unabashedly supportive of SB50 and we need this kind of leadership, and second I am hoping these two excellent women will get so many votes that they overwhelm Ryu and leave him in third place. Fingers crossed.
CD6: Bill Haller
This is another shoo-in. Nury Martinez is the City Council president and has the backing of the County party and all the local clubs. I am endorsing Bill Haller because he supports an agenda that includes more public funding for affordable housing, more and better transit, and climate justice.
CD8: Marqueece Harris-Dawson
There are no other candidates in this race, so congratulations on your re-election Councilmember Harris-Dawson.
CD10: Aura Vasquez
This is an open seat, and the smart money has Mark Ridley-Thomas as the frontrunner. Ridley-Thomas is a current member of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors (more on them later) who is termed out of that position. I’m endorsing Aura Vasquez, a progressive activist with ties to Mid-City who has served as a commissioner for LADWP and led fights for renewable energy, banning single use plastics, and housing affordability in her community.
CD12: Loraine Lundquist
Dr. Lundquist rules. She takes public transit to debates, she is an honest to goodness scientist, and she nearly beat a Republican in what is the most conservative district in L.A. during a special election. I have donated money to this lady because we need to win this one. Her opponent, John Lee, wasted no time in trying to block housing for the homeless in his district and in attacking a successful safer streets project on Reseda Blvd. The city has a chance - a really great chance thanks to the realigned municipal elections - to toss out the worst possible councilmember in favor of the most progressive voice, don’t mess it up.
CD14: Cyndi Otteson
This race is Kevin de Léon’s to lose, but he won’t commit to serving a full term since he really wants to be mayor. I say let him have his spare time to run for mayor and select Ms. Otteson, a grassroots activist who has the support of the UTLA and who is the only voice in favor of the Colorado Blvd alignment of the NoHo to Pasadena BRT project. Transit equity matters, and Ms. Otteson deserves your vote this March.
LAUSD School Board
Deferring to the teachers’ endorsements on this one.
Board Seat 1: George McKenna
Board Seat 3: Scott Schmerlson
Board Seat 5: Jackie Goldberg
Board Seat 7: Patricia Castellanos
Glendale City Council: Dan Brotman
An environmental activist with progresive views, Brotman will be a useful voice in Glendale’s city hall.
District Attorney: Rachel Rossi
George Gascón and Rachel Rossi will both be light years better than the current county D.A., Jackie Lacey. Both have promised to make substantial reforms in the office. I am really torn on this one, since I think Gascón’s experience as a Deputy DA in San Francisco is a big deal, and since he has the backing of the County Party. I am endorsing Rossi in a tilt-at-windmills hope that somehow she and Gascón make it to the final ballot in November and give us a thoughtful debate between a career prosecutor bent on reform and a public defender whose goal is reform about methods and ideas. Anyway, don’t vote for Jackie Lacey is all I am saying here.
Superior Court
Voting for judges is stupid. We shouldn’t be doing this, but since we have to, I’ll make some suggestions. My math is based on other progressive endorsements, Party endorsements, and reverse-engineering some well known conservative voting guides to, if nothing else, make sure I am not voting for their endorsement.
Office 17: Shannon Kathleen Cooley (the race is uncontested)
Office 42: Linda Sun
Office 72: Myanna Dellinger
Office 76: Emily Cole (Cole is a prosecutor, but her opponent is a man who literally changed his name to “Judge” after serving as a judge in Stanislaus County)
Office 80: Klint James McKay
Currently an administrative law judge, he impressed Public Defender Union representatives with his thoughtful and articulate answers to their questioning.
Office 97: Sherry L. Powell (Powell’s opponent ran as a conservative Republican for state assembly in 2018, this is a defensive vote)
Office 129: Kenneth Fuller
Office 131: Michelle Kelley (the race is uncontested)
Office 141: Lana Kim (the race is uncontested)
Office 145: Troy Slaten (Slaten’s opponent has a troubling history of misconduct and should not be elected to a judgeship)
Office 150: Tom Parsekian
Office 162: David D. Diamond
L.A. County Board of Supervisors
The Supervisors oversee policy for the County, including all unincorporated areas, the LASD, County Health services, etc. For a county of TEN MILLION PEOPLE, there are only five supervisors, so they have a hugely outsized influence.
Seat 2: Jorge Nuno
A lot of progressives are endorsing Holly Mitchell in this seat. Me, I just can’t go there when she’s speaking at events for Livable California and when she gave a floor speech opposing SB50. Though he’s the front runner, Herb Wesson doesn’t deserve your vote - he was City Council president when the homelessness crisis exploded and he’s done little to address it. Nuno is a progressive and has an ambitious platform.
Seat 4: Janice Hahn
She’s solid, and nobody’s pushing her from the left.
Seat 5: John Harabedian
Kathryn Barger, the incumbent, is a Republican who supports Trump’s immigration policies. John Harabedian is a solidly Center Left Democrat who has the backing of the county party and who could, in this presidential election year, win an upset in what is traditionally a Republican stronghold of L.A. County. Vote for him.
County Ballot Measures
Measure R: YES YES YES
This will provide crucial tools to the already existing civilian oversight committee for the LASD, including subpoena powers. It also requires the commission to study ways to divert offenders from jail. You need to vote yes on this.
State Ballot Measures
Prop 13: Yes
$15B in bonds to invest in public schools and “local control” to allow local school districts to issue larger bonds. The only real opposition is from the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, a revanchist organization that is singlehandedly responsible for much of our state and local problems in the past few decades. Don’t listen to them.
Congressional Elections
Despite some misgivings, I am generally supporting the progressive challengers here to hopefully lead to a Progressive/Center Left election in the fall.
CD 25: Christy Smith

CD 28: Adam Schiff
He’s not the most progressive guy in Congress but he’s been critical to holding Trump accountable. He’s earned this vote.
CD 29: Angelica Duenas
Tony Cardenas is a bit of a non-entity on the national stage but he does good local work and he was an early vote in favor of impeachment. The rape allegations against him which troubled me last time were dismissed with prejudice in 2019. Cardenas has a progressive challenger, Angelica Marie Duenas, who has run in the past as a Green Party candidate. I don’t trust her decision to abandon that label and come into the Democrats after getting drubbed in 2018, but overall I like her ideas and I’d be happy to see her and Cardenas in a runoff this year.
CD 30: CJ Berina
Brad Sherman is an okay Congressmember. CJ Berina is a young, progressive challenger who’s attracted the attention of the Sunrise Movement. I’d vote for him to try to push the GOP out of the runoff and make this a race between the Center Left and the Progressive Left.

Jimmy Gomez is solid; let’s push the GOP out of the runoff though by supporting this progressive.

Look this is getting waaaaaaaaaaaaaay into the weeds. What I am going to say is this: I know that a lot of “progressive” slates are out there and I encourage you to try your best to vet them. In my district, one of the candidates is somebody I know personally - she actively campaigned for Jill Stein, she circulated the decades-old “Clinton Death List” to voters, and she pushed Pizzagate theories. I am not voting for this person, but she is endorsed by “Progressive California” so...just be careful.

Debunking
We’ve talked about this scene before- the Kurt rant given by Santana. Naya just said she was uncomfortable and she mentioned that Chris was upset. sugdendingle just posted that Chris “liked” her Tweet where she called out how much she didn’t like it.  She added a second comment that includes:
sugdendingle
None of the other cast were personally attacked in the ways Chris was and to the extent Chris was. I don’t know what Ryan Murphy’s issues were with Chris but he clearly he had some....I’m talking about real life here. About how Ryan Murphy and his writers used the character of Kurt to personally attack Chris Colfer on a regular basis and it’s clear Chris agrees to some extent as he liked my tweet.
That scene in season six was one of the worst examples but hardly the only one. Chris not being traditionally masculine was like a running joke on that show. As was remarks about his voice, his appearance, his sexuality, how he danced, etc. Yes other characters faced insults but it never got as personal as it did with Chris and it wasn’t as extensive either. The insults to Kurt went on right to the end of the show you can’t say the same for the other characters. It’s just really sad that Chris had to endure a work enivorment like this especially considering he was bullied when he was younger.
Abby adds:
My opinion. The poor treatment stems from extreme jealousy. For many, many reasons. And of course c’s refusal to do as he’s told.(X)
Debunk #1
None of the other cast were personally attacked in the ways Chris was and to the extent Chris was. Was Chris harassed by the writers “more than any other character”?  I spent a few minutes looking at Santana’s rants-and Santana seems to be the ranter on Glee. I don’t believe her rants about Chris’s failings is any worse than she she said about Finn’s weight. Rachel or really Lea’s nose being too big had an entire episode-and several comments through the years- and Kurt staged a flashmob at the mall to talk her out of plastic surgery. Sam was called Trouty Mouth as a running joke including a song “Trouty Mouth” sang by Santana.
“Every time you open your humongous mouth to do an impression or to moisten a enormous stamp for a lazy giant you take on step closer to everyone seeing that you’re actually a dork” (X)
“I just heard the news that Trouty Mouth was back in town. I’ve been keeping a notebook, just in case this day ever came. Welcome back, Lisa Rinna. I’ve missed you so much since your family packed their bags, loaded them in your mouth and skipped town. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve wanted to enjoy a crisp pickle, but couldn’t find anyone to suck the lid off the jar. I assume you’ve been working as a baby polisher where young mothers place their infants’ heads in your mouth to get back that newborn shine. So glad you’re back. I haven’t seen a smile that big since the acclamation abominable snowman got his teeth pulled by that little gay elf dentist. Love, Santana” (X)
This gets loooonnnngggg so under a cut
This one she also hit at Tina’s Asian eyes and Rachels nose- though I didn’t include that part.
Santana: Hold up, could we all just get real here for a second? I hear that Rachel has a bit of a schnoz. I mean I wouldn't know because like Medusa I try to avoid eye contact with her. But can we all just stop lying about how there aren't things we don't want to change about ourselves? I'm sure that Sam has been at the doctor's office and riffled through pamphlets on mouth reductions. I'll bet Artie's thought about getting his legs removed since he's not really using them anyway. And I'm definitely sure Tina has looked into eye de-slanting. Tina: That's extraordinarily racist. Santana: Just keeping it real. Tina: Sorry Santana, I'm a beautiful person. I'm in love with myself and I would never change a thing. Mike: Is that why you're wearing blue contacts today, Tina? [whispers] Self hating Asian. Tina: Not too many Asian sex symbols, Mike. I'm just trying to mirror what I see in magazines. Finn: My dancing kind of bothers me. It almost killed Rachel but I like the way I look. Santana: Oh please. You have weird puffy pyramid nipples. Sam: [tries to look at Finn's nipples] Finn: [slaps Sam's hand away] Santana: They look like they're filled with custard. Or you could dust them off with powdered sugar and pass it off as some sort of dessert. Look, maybe Rachel is fine with having an enormous beak. Maybe she needs it to crack hard seeds. All I'm saying is if you look in the mirror and you don't like what you see, you should change it.”(X)
“I’ve kissed Finn, and can I just say… not worth a buck. I would, however, pay a hundred dollars to jiggle one of his man boobs”. (X)
Santana: “Please stick a sock in it or ship yourself back to Scotland. I’m trying to apologize to Lumps The Clown. I am sorry, Finn. I mean, really, I’m sorry that the New Directions are gonna get crushed by the Troubletones. And I’m also sorry that you have no talent. Sorry that you sing like you’re getting your prostate checked, and you dance like you’ve been asleep for years and someone just woke you up. Have fun riding on Rachel’s coattails for the rest of your life, although, you know what, I would just watch out for her come holiday time if I were him, because if I were her, I’d stick a stent in one of those boobs and let the Finn blubber light the Hanukkah lamp for eight magical nights.” (X)
Santana: “Why is everyone staring at me like I’m Finn and I just won a butter eating contest” (X)
She even hit him during The Quarterback “Okay, I know that Finn had his doubts about God but I am convinced that Squishy Teets is up in heaven right now plopped down next to his new best friend Fat Elvis helping themselves to a picnic of baby back ribs smothered in butterscotch pudding and TaterTot grease so this is for you Hudson” (X)
She also did a combo Finn/Sam rant “Not only am I giving you full visitation rights to the set of rambunctious twins that live on my rig cage, you get the chance to show that pastry bag Finn that he can’t mess with Sam Evans. And not just because you can unlock your humongous jaw and swallow him whole like a python…” (X)
The Kurt rant
“Kurt I took what you said to heart, and I thought long and hard about it, and it occurred to me that you may have a point. Okay, maybe Brittany and I are too young to get married. I mean, after all, that's why it didn't work out with you and Blaine, right? Or maybe it didn't work out because you're a judgmental little gentrophile with a mouth like a cat's ass. Maybe Blaine got tired of hearing your shrill, self-aggrandizing lecture about how you felt the two of you were at the very apex of the gay rights movement every time you so much as cooked macaroni and cheese together or farted. Maybe Blaine didn't want to be with someone who looks like they just removed their top row of dentures every time they smile or someone who doesn't dress like an extra out of one of Andy Dick's more elaborate wet dreams. Maybe Blaine grew weary of dating a breathier, more feminine Quinn Fabray. Maybe he finally got freaked out about your strange obsession with old people that causes you to skulk around nursing homes like one of those cats that can smell cancer. Maybe he got tired of watching you drape yourself on every piano you happen to pass to entertain exactly no one with, say, some song that Judy Garland choked on her tongue in the middle of or some sassy old Broadway standard made famous by another dead alcoholic crone. Maybe Blaine woke up one day and said, "You know what I don't want to marry a sexless, self-centered baton twirler. Maybe I need someone who knows more than three dance moves: "the finger wag", "the shoulder shimmy" and the one where you pretend to twirl two invisible rainbow-colored ribbons attached to your hips. So, you know what, maybe that's why it didn't work out. Maybe it has nothing to do with me and Brittany. Maybe it's just that you are utterly, utterly intolerable. Maybe that has something to do with it."(X)
Conclusion: Chris was not attacked more than other actors on Glee.  The writers were pretty vicious about the physical characteristics of Rachel’s nose, Finn’s weight and man boobs and Sam’s nose. They also wrote about Damian’s height referring to as Leprechaun. All are very personal attacks about the actor; not the character.  Finn’s boobs were used as fodder for humor after he died so the idea that no other character was humiliated throughout the show is untrue.
Debunk #2
I don’t know what Ryan Murphy’s issues were with Chris but he clearly he had some. Ryan didn’t write Santana’s vicious lines-Brad Falchuk did.  I spent enough time researching this and finding late-season interview is hard but earlier interviews show that Ryan really respected Chris and Kurt.
Ryan did an interview with NYT in 2010  Q:Is this story in any way autobiographical or a reflection on your own experiences growing up?
A:It wasn’t really true to my experience at all. But I know so many people that it was true to. It was very true to Chris Colfer’s experience, and working with him for the past year, he would tell me stories. It’s amazing to me — last year when we did the “Glee” tour, every time Chris Colfer came out on that stage for his bows, 100 percent, he got the loudest cheers and applause, from all groups of people. Little girls, parents. A lot of people have embraced him and he’s part of their television-going family, so to see an episode in which he’s physically threatened is very upsetting for people, I think. But it puts a face on it.
Q: It’s still rare to see gay characters on prime-time network programs, let alone one who is out in the way that Kurt is, and at a young age. Is there ever any pressure on you to tone down the portrayal of that character?
A: No, surprisingly not. Three episodes into the series last year, when we did the “Single Ladies” football number with him, he became an audience favorite and people started to write about that character and Chris Colfer. I think that character is in many ways the most important character on television, particularly for kids. When I was growing up, there was nobody like that. I think that character changes lives. I think that character launches conversation, both good and bad, and that’s a very powerful thing. I’ve done shows where if a character is a little bit controversial, the network and the studio are like, “Could you please tone that down?” They never did that at all with this character, and they were all very supportive of the story line. (X)
“Growing up in Indianapolis, Murphy sang in his church choir and immersed himself in high school musicals. His father was a semi-pro hockey player who was baffled by a son who requested a Vogue subscription when he was 5 years old and performed in his bedroom, holding a hairbrush in front of a mirror. He may not have understood his son, but he accepted him, even when Murphy revealed that he was gay at 15″.
“Having a dad that loves you as a young man is a very powerful thing that you carry into the world,” Murphy said. “Because no matter what you do, in some weird, unconscious way, if you’re a guy, you always try to please your dad. I think it’s a great thing to put on television. You’ve seen the gay character that gets kicked out of the house or is beaten up. You haven’t seen the gay character that is teased a little bit, but wins and triumphs.”
“The scene in which he tells his father was taken verbatim from Murphy's own life. Murphy felt that the scene was "a great thing to put on television", because, while gay characters are often isolated and attacked, audiences have rarely seen an openly gay character who "wins and triumphs". He further explained, "The show is about making you feel good in the end. It's about happy endings and optimism and the power of your personal journey and making you feel that the weird thing about me is the great thing about me. I've done other shows with gay characters, and I will say that in many of those cases, the gay characters didn't have a happy ending. And I thought you know what? Enough."(X)(X)
We also know that Ryan created the role of Kurt specifically for Chris.
We don’t know what happened with the fall out(s) on set. Chris said he wouldn’t work for Ryan and
“To this day, I'm devastated by everything that happened with that show." (X)
Other interring things I found:
“Over the course of six seasons of Glee, which petered out earlier this year, there was plenty written about backstage drama, fractured relationships and the death of star Cory Monteith from a drug overdose. All Murphy will offer are his own misgivings about his role on the show. "I was there with them all day long, and then we'd finish work and we'd go out and have fun all night, and I guess in a weird, twisted way, I was trying to relive the childhood I never had," he says. "I thought they wanted a parent, and they didn't. They didn't want me to tell them what to f—ing do. They didn't want me to tell them how to treat each other or what the world was like at the end of the day. I wish I could go back and do that differently with a lot of those actors. Some of them I'm still very close to: Lea Michele, Chord Overstreet, Darren Criss — but there were some that didn't work out well, and I regret that. I guess I just wish I had been able to let them figure it out for themselves."(X)
Conclusion: Ryan is a grown man and didn’t have it out for Chris. He respected Chris and used the Kurt role to tell his story of being a gay boy in small midwest town.
Debunk #3
The poor treatment stems from extreme jealousy. For many, many reasons.
Abby has claimed Ryan is jealous of Chris many times over the years-it still isnt’ true.  Ryan is a very successful producer, writer, creator.  I found a few quotes to back that up.
“It's a peculiar thing to be asked by Murphy, 50, the closest thing the TV industry has to a proven hitmaker, save, perhaps, for Shonda Rhimes. Over the past decade and a half, he's made pop-culture juggernauts out of plastic surgeons on Nip/Tuck, high school misfits on Glee and witches, nuns and nymphomaniacs on American Horror Story. And in that time, he's become a name brand himself, more famous than all but the biggest stars in his sprawling casts. The showrunner, both pop savant and provocateur, has one of the richest eight-figure deals in television and a coterie of loyalists that includes Gwyneth Paltrow(with whom he's about to pitch a musical dramedy), Julia Roberts, Jessica Lange and now Lady Gaga. He's hosted President Obama at his home for a $40,000-a-couple fundraiser, and when he mentions his friends Norman, Barbra and David, he's referring to Lear, Streisand and Geffen.(X)
"There's a limited number of creators in film or TV where if you put the title plus their name — if you say, 'Steven Spielberg's blah blah blah' or 'Marvel's blah blah blah' — you're going to get a different answer than if you don't," Landgraf says, "and Ryan is one of those guys."(X)
Chris is a successful writer and if he is successful in writing and directing the TLOS movie, he could be a power player in Hollywood. But right now- even with his Time 100 award, he isn’t anywhere near Ryan Murphy.  I suppose Ryan could be jealous of something other than Chris’s success but I have seen no evidence of that.
Conclusion: Nope.

Instructions to make Mango sticky rice sushi:
Soak glutinous rice in cold water for a few hours.
Cook both jasmine and glutinous rice (in a rice cooker or however you'd like).
Peel and cut mango into 1cm by 1cm strips. Also cut into thin slices for topping..
In a microwaveable bowl, combine brown sugar and coconut, microwave for 30s so the brown sugar is partially melted.
In a food processor, pulverize oreos into a powder. Use a bag and fists if you must.
When the rice is ready, mix in a few tablespoons a condensed milk until the desired texture is acheived. We don’t want a pudding texture, nor do we want individual grains..
When the rice is properly combined, lay out a piece of plastic wrap on your sushi mat. Spread out the rice into a square, keeping the thickness to 0.5-1cm..
Try to fill the square as much as possible, while allowing overflow space. Sprinkle the oreo crumbs on top until it’s evenly covered. Now take your mango strips and coconut mixture, and place in a line 2 inches near the edge of one side. The photo here replaces cranberry sauce but tbh coconut is better.
Roll up one side while holding onto your fillings to avoid it from slipping. Tuck it around your filling, while pulling out the plastic wrap so it doesn’t get rolled in. Continue rolling, while evenly applying pressure to the roll. Once you get to the other side, give it a full roll to regain the circular shape..
Slice (dip knife in water in between), and top with mango slices and a sprinkling of cocoa powder..
