You're not wrong, but all the gods are terrible in Blood of Zeus. It's why Gaea goes scorched earth.
Actually, I'd argue that we only see a case for the older Olympians* being terrible and even then, it's not all of them: Poseidon, for one, is a really good example of someone who understood that mistakes were made, that something had to give, and was more that ready to set old conflicts aside in order to move forward in the wake of Zeus' death. Hera also seems to be genuinely reflective and apologetic for the crimes she wrought and wanted, more than anything, to be given the opportunity to make amends for her actions by doing the one thing everyone thought she never could; give up her power.
Going down the line, the talking point of "oh, all the gods in Blood of Zeus are terrible" becomes weaker and weaker: Apollo's only actual crime is being too filial/his contempt of Hera, but he shows more compassion and understanding than anything - both while comforting Electra about the nature of her son and by welcoming and supporting Heron, Hermes is also similarly shown with a very strong familial loyalty, but prioritises his work above all else, Hephaestus is a councillor and assistant, Athena is protective and shown, not only rallying together her siblings in order to properly inform them of the nature of the foe they were facing (even when they had been on different sides of the Hera/Zeus conflict and even when it casts Hera in a good light and plainly makes it known that she's being framed) but also getting Persephone to fess up her part in the scheme without resorting to violence.
The only gods that were portrayed poorly in Season 2 were Ares, who feels like he'd be better off being called Damian Wayne with how intensely he's preoccupied with blood purity and being Zeus' legitimate son, Aphrodite who sides with him (but even then is shown feeling ill at ease at going along with his treachery prior to the Eleusinian Stone trial), and Demeter who is so far removed from simply 'being an asshole' that she's hurtled headfirst into being a sadistic supervillain.
(Of course Hades is also a tyrant and an asshole but I also consider him too wishy-washy and inconsistent to figure out what angle they were trying to take with him. I can't think of him as good or bad, merely confusing)
Anyway, I think people hold on to the idea that the gods in BoZ are all assholes too closely because Heron and Seraphim, our main characters, hold on to the idea that ALL gods are assholes due to being the pawn of -counts on fingers- exactly two of them. With the exception of Ares, all of the other gods have been nothing but welcoming and supportive of Heron! And what Hades does to Heron in S2 has nothing to do with his feelings about Heron himself but rather with his own goals and desperations that have been multiplied by Demeter's machinations and his own frustrations at being unable to keep his family together.
#But yeah I don't agree with the reading that all the gods in boz are bad and terrible at all#It's literally just a handful of them#The others aren't perfect by any means#They still hate each other and have mad generational beef due to the constant eye for an eye lifestyle that they live#But that's where Gaea comes in - that's where Heron comes in#The gods - all of them - need to learn how to forgive#Just like Heron had to learn to swallow the pain Seraphim caused and let go of it so he could wholeheartedly help and mourn his brother#Gaea went scorched earth because Hades killed her messiah and without him the girlies won't ever stop fighting#ginger chats about greek myths#Greek mythology#boz#blood of zeus#apollo#athena#demeter#hades#persephone#hermes#heron#Anyway hope this helps <33

âForever Phunky:â Dumpstaphunk Bassist Nick Daniels III Dies at 68
Dumpstaphunk bassist Nick Daniels III died April 26 at 68 from complications of multiple myeloma, NOLA.com reports.
The band plans to continue because playing live âis going to help us get through this,â Ivan Neville told the outlet.
â(Daniels) was an incredible musician and singer, but more importantly, a kind, inspiring and supportive person,â the âextremely heartbrokenâ members of Galactic said in a statement.
âThank you, Nick, for the gifts you gave us.â
In addition to co-anchoring Dumpstaphunk with fellow bassist Tony Hall, Daniels collaborated with the Neville Brothers, Dr. John, Allen Toussaint, Etta James, Boz Scaggs and others.
âForever phunky,â Tipitinaâs posted on social media. âWe love you, Nick Daniels III.â
Lettuceâs Adam Deitch recalled the musical tutelage and good humor Daniels bestowed upon him, while Anders Osborne eulogized the bassist as an âextraordinary musician and (the) kindest human.â
âIn the crazy world of New Orleans funk, Nick Daniels stood tall as a voice of reason and wisdom,â Papa John Gros said in a statement.
âAnd just like his bass playing, he knew when to drop the hammer and slap sense into the truth. I loved being with him onstage and off as his groove was oh, so strong. Nick Daniels was one of the greats.â

Hello :) please can I request headcanons for the male characters of Blood of Zeus where they fall for Heronâs childhood best friend whoâs a demigod. Season 2 of BOZ was absolutely amazing and I wish it was as popular as it deserves đđ
S2 was such a ride and I loved it so much!
Masterlist 11
Apollo tries to impress you with his charm and wit, asking his brother what you like and how you are as a person
Ares is certain youâll fall for his rugged good looks and roguish charm, despite your aloof attitude around him
Hermes tries his best to be the absolute gentleman around you, even when heâs blushing around you like crazy
Dionysus thinks youâre absolutely delectable and tries to be suave around you, offering the ritualistic wine for your taste
Seraphim thinks youâre a good match for his brother but feels a twinge of guilt for the budding feelings he has for you, always staying near to protect you
Meanwhile Heron acts like a protective big brother around you

Hi, do you accept headcanons requests? If you do, can I request a yandere apollo BoZ headcanons? You are one of the few writers I found who wrote yandere BoZđ. But you can ignore this if you don't want to!
I'm glad to help anon <3
Yandere apollo x reader (headcanons) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
you won't have any chance at freedom if you manage to catch his eye, after losing three lovers in the past he's not about to lose his precious darling once more.
he will kidnap you to Olympus no matter what you or the other gods say, it's too dangerous for you to be alone in the mortal realm and he cant be with you at all times because of his duties as a god so this is obviously the only option.
he will be so comforting after he has you on Olympus, giving to cuddles and kisses, giving you only the most elegant of clothes all matching his of course and even introducing you to his siblings.
Don't mistake his kindness for being soft, if you fight enough you may get a glimpse of his anger and that is not something you want to see.
if you manage to escape him and any siblings of his that may be platonic yandere's for you as well, you won't make it too far because he will track you down through any kingdom or place you hide in and when he gets you back he may not be as kind as he was before.
he will drag you back to Olympus and punish you there, he would never hit you or say anything degrading he loves you too much to do that, he will guilt you though, talking endlessly about how you hurt him and caused such a commotion on Olympus all for nothing.
if you refuse and put up a fight while he tries to bring you back to Olympus you may find yourself in a more dangerous situation as he won't tolerate your disobedience, so you may end up with a few burns from his powers.
after any punishments you receive from him, he will comfort you, feeding you grapes or your favourite food, and making sure you get some rest. healing you of any burns or injury that you had both from running away and from him.
he will want you to be close to his sister and his brothers, mostly Hermes and Dionysus but wouldn't mind too much if you made friends with Hephaestus or Heron. however, if you are caught even talking to Ares then a fight may break out between the two men and he will leave your side again to make sure that Ares cant even go near you.
Zeus will be the last person he lets you meet, he thinks that youre beautiful and he fears that his father may begin to notice to and put you in Hera's line of sight just like his mother once was.
overall he isn't the worst yandere to have, just don't disobey him or play on his jealousy because it wont end well.
and he will make you immortal, that is one thing that you will not fight him on because he will use force if he has to, he won't lose you.

Zeus is a shit parent, obviously. His brothers are better parents obviously.
Hereâs the examples of the ones from blood of zeus (from the main 3 godly children that were on screen, srs the others got nothing)
Apollo - kept Zeus from getting caught by Hera, probably preventing the conflict from happening earlier, and yet no thank you or nothing, not shocking Zeus is a dick. Saved Hermes from probable death from a dangerous job and got tossed into the fucking ocean, a sun god, in water. Poseidon being the better brother, and brought him to OlympusâŚâŚ.. Zeus said and did nothing, probably still pissy at Hera for shanking him in the neck. Probably deals with Hera being pissy he and the others are Zeusâs bastard children
Hermes - literally delivers all of his messages and findings on top of delivering souls to Charon, again, no appreciation. Definitely deals with Hera calling him a bastard child. Agreed to spy on Hera, who probably knew that was gonna happen, and nearly got killed (probably murder attempt) by Ares for it (thank you Apollo). Immediately ran up to Olympus, after that (possible) murder attempt to save Zeusâs ass from getting killed by Hera, he definitely wouldâve got stabbed again. And bc itâs Zeus, no appreciation.
Ares - the punching bag of Zeus, âoh Hera found smth out must be Ares, let me throw a lighting bolt at him and find outâ. No you idiot, Hera found out by herself and was already aware. Always on his mothers side because 1) his old man canât keep it in his pants and 2) (hc) he probably had to deal with the aftermath of finding out her husband is a cheating dick each time.
Now Hephaestus was barely on but heâs clearly under appreciated, that mf Zeus was destroying his robots left and fucking right as a lesson, on the other hand his owl robot (forgot the name) is so fucking cute.
This is just the examples from BOZ, I liked the show overall but making Hera the antag and a jealous bitch was a bad choice. You couldâve made her the villain because her husband, whoâs also her brother, fucking assaulted her and she married him to hide that fact. Also the fact her husband canât keep his shriveled dick in his fucking chiton. :) fuck you Zeus.

I just know that Apollo's character in BoZ i relation to Perse would be one the girlies would cry over.
We first get him acting like a typical god, checking her out any chance he gets and getting glared at by her parents, so we assume his crush on her is mostly physical, not that serious, played for laughs, etc
We get deeper in the show and see that yeah, It's very serious but also concerning because while Perse is seemly clueless about his feelings he's very much showing signs of dangerous possessiveness over her (always being one step away from losing it all and cursing her suitors and being told more than once by Hermes to not be like Hera)
Perse gets pregnant with Heron's child and Hera is trying to recruit Apollo to join her side so you think "This is it, he'll betray them all because the woman he loves is pregnant with his half-brother's baby" and most viewers wouldn't exactly blame him if that happened, but it just... doesn't??? He blows up on Heron, their relationship is fractured beyond what can be fixed, but he never betrays them or even does anything that close to lashing out at Perse, in fact he's even more gentle to her and that's so cute
Anyway, Apollo would be that guy everyone thought would be a Severus Snape type of asshole but he's pretty fucking cool
đđđ I imagine a scene in which she is sleeping, and he sits near her to watch her and make sure she isn't disturbed (he glares at Heron the whole time).
And like, I can also picture a scene of him and Zeus and he unleashes a bit on his dad too (âYou brought that mortal here đšâ)
Watchers who don't know that much of mythology do not get why he's so tame around her, but mythology obsessed people are crying their hearts out in front of their screen.

If Hermes ever worked up the courage to tickle the main three (assuming theyâre at least slightly ticklish SOMEWHERE) do you think heâd succeed?
Assuming he does, I can totally see him having to go for unconventional spots or something (like Poseidon having ticklish shoulder blades, etc.)
(Also I LOVE your blog, you are so talented.)
Are you kidding me, OF COURSE Hermes has tickled the three of them just so he could say he did, he is obsessed with bragging rights & also causing trouble. & itâs my blog & I make the rules, so Iâm saying yeah, they are ticklish I donât fucking care if theyâre big scary gods who are all powerful & âuntouchableâ if they can get hurt they can absolutely get their shit wrecked
Ok so blood of Zeus might be clouding my judgment a lil bit, but I feel like he wouldnât be that mad if Hermes tried. Heâs his son, so he can have a free pass every now & then. Zeus is more amused by his antics than he likes to let on, & heâs kinda curious to see how far Hermes is willing to go with a joke, even if itâs at his own expense. If he manages to get a really bad spot, he will immediately turn the tables, but that just lets Hermes know that he was letting him do it all along so heâs not REALLY as mad as heâs pretending. & Zeus totally uses some of his lighting when heâs getting revenge, so Hermes definitely paid the price
Fuck you Poseidon, Iâm making him the most ticklish out of the big 3 because I think itâs funny & heâs a lil bitch who deserves it đ Hermes loves how easy it is to get under his skin & annoy him, & he gets soooo pissy & fed up when he tries to tickle him. Heâs so defensive & tries to use his trident to block him, but Hermes is always just a lil too fast & zips around to poke at his worst spots & send him into a fit of giggles. Heâs got this really deep rumbly laugh that gets louder the longer it continues. Hermes will try to make air bubbles in the water when he flies around him & that alone really tickles, so add in some mischievous hands to the mix, & Poseidon really canât do anything but laugh. Afterwards tho, he will absolutely try to strangle him or maybe even use his trident calm DOWN Zeus, I barely scratched the bastard!
Again, boz got me tweaking my characterization, & since we havenât really seen Hades in epic, Iâm gonna lean on that & some other characterizations Iâve seen. But Hades is more quiet & calm than his brothers & even when heâs annoyed & pissed off, he tries to appear cool & collected, so it takes a while for Hermes to really get under his skin with his normal methods of bothering people. But Hermes had kinda psyched himself into believing that thereâs no way Hades is ticklish, until he accidentally tickled him & now he never knows peace. He claims heâs just trying to lighten the mood, he needs to smile more, etc. etc. & Hades honestly doesnât mind it as much as he thought he would. Probably because itâs Hermes, & he knows thatâs just his way of having fun. & hey, he realizes that heâs rarely happy & when he is, it doesnât last, so the fact that Hermes actually wants to check in on him & make him feel better is kinda comforting. So for the man in charge of ruling over the underworld, he can appreciate being made to laugh against his will, as long as itâs a rare occasion & Hermes keeps his fuckinâ yap shut
Iâd love to write more fics with the gods, whether it be for epic or boz! Right now I only have 1 boz fic written, & I have a Poseidon & Odysseus prompt as well, but Iâd love some more! & thank you so much, thatâs so sweet!! Iâm so glad you like it! These were so fun to do, thanks for sending them in!

Trans Heron headcanons Pt. 1 đłď¸ââ§ď¸âĄď¸
(Image credit to BoZ, edited by me)
⥠His mother was surprisingly supportive, even if she didn't fully understand how he felt. It definitely took her a while to get used to the idea of having a son instead of a daughter, but loved him the same and even helped him choose his new name.
⥠Apollo was the one who helped him transition after S1. That is why in S2 he wears a shirt most of the time, even if the scars don't bother him.
⥠Before he could transition, he got his period when he was in Seraphim's ship. Evios and Kofi, though confused, went as far as to help him get some cloth he could use as a pad so he'd not bleed all over his seat.
⥠Seraphim was surprisingly supportive as well, in his own way. He at first referred to Heron as a woman, but was corrected by Hera ('The bastard is now a man'), and he frankly couldn't care less. He'll never admit it, but when he called Heron by his chosen name and refered to him as a male, the look of surprise and almost thankfulness on the demigod's face made him soften a bit. Just a little.
⥠When Hermes said 'I've always wanted a little brother' for the first time, Heron got emotional and cried.
⥠BoZ!accurate Ares would not misgender or deadname him. He has his limits even with the people he hates.
⥠Since his mother passed away, he stopped caring properly for his periods until Alexia came along. She made him learn how to make pads, to monitor his cycle and how to relieve painful cramps.
⥠Evios sometimes jokes about Heron 'stealing all of his testosterone' when he transitioned, and jokingly asks for some of his height.

Blood of Zeus season 2
I was waiting for the premiere of the second season of Blood of Zeus mainly for Hades and in general I like how the show presented him and his relationship with Persephone but there is some stuff related to other gods that I donât like.
Spoilers undercut.
First and foremost, the show really did make Demether dirty. Iâm disappointed with her role in the story and how she treated both Hades and Persephona, the beloved daughter. I guess I would feel much better if she supported Hades for Persephonaâs sake first and foremost and not for getting power. I would totally root for Demether wanting to be part of their family and have a chance to see how her grandkids grew up in better circumstances than being forced to be far away from their mother for 6 months each year (something she herself experiences when Persephona is going to Hades). Especially if that would demand from her and Hades to put aside their differences or work through them to find a sensible common ground and not go for manipulation. Like her lie that Hades abducted Persephona. I donât mind ruthless Demether but there is a difference between a grieving mother willing to starve the whole world just to get her beloved daughter back and a power-hungry goddess willing to kill mortals and make her whole family sick just because she wants to rule now. Nope. This version of Demether is not for me.
My second big NOPE is for Ares. Iâm not surprised they picked him for the asshole brother for Heron to confront, because letâs face it, Ares is always the first choice for a jerkass god. And look, if this was our first introduction to his character, then sure, I would not think much about it, because Ares is Ares, whatever, while enjoying his good look. But the thing that doesnât sit well with me is the discrepancy between this jerkass and his first season persona, who was much calmer, serious and grim - he was dangerous, but he didnât feel that much arrogant or into women or entitled the way he was in the newest season. And I admit, it feels to me like watching a totally different person that just happened to have the same handsome face as the previous incarnation. Which is what kinda ruined my joy of watching the show, because Ares was the other reason I bothered to watch Blood of Zeus in the first place.Â
Hera too is different but her change makes a sense given what happened in the previous season and what she lost. Ares feels like the case of switching personality for no reason beside the fact that plot demanded it. But at lest he is still the mama's boy. Ares and Hera have this protective side toward each other, and I appreciate those moments.
A minor reason for disliking Aresâ role is the feeling how Ares and Hades visually share a lot similarities (short hair, dark colors, similar helmets) that made me joking Hades was Aresâ favorite uncle to the point he imitated his dark style (pissing off Zeus along the way most likely). I knew the chance BoZ would go with that route was very slim but still what a shame! Though fine, I will admit it: Hades beating Ares was funny to watch.
On second thought, my main complaint about Hades is that though I love how he is presented as a god with a strong sense of justice, it feels he wasnât feared enough by other gods. Show the man some respect!
Oh! The nice thing worth mentioning is that BoZ remembered about and actually used Hestia in the show. Good for her! She deserves all the attention.

THE QUEEN IS HERE!!! (and the others too, I guess)
Spoiler Alert!!!!!
(but if you ignore the warning you might have a little treat đ)
Let me scream right off the bat because Queen Demeter is slaying in episode 6. I love my queen <333
Also, Demeter and Hades teaming up for Persephone and revenging the gods who wronged them? It's unexpected but understandable. They both love Persephone and cannot share her in peace, so they will rule together and all have their time with her. The scene tries to make Demeter look like a pestering mother-in-law but I'm all rooting for her. Her voice and sinisterness is sooooo good like YES MOMMY PLEASE BURY ME đđđ
Okay, now let's talk about Heron. I love that he doesn't forgive the villagers who mistreated his mother but still have sympathy for the innocent women and children. If they made him forgive them easily I would scream but turns out no, BOZ did good with this one.
Heron powering up last minute to beat the Keres is cliche but I'll let it slide because I have other matters to nitpick (also Alexia snapping Heron out of his lightning intoxication reminds me of Katara calming Aang down from his Avatar state). And Heron threatening the last Keres? Gary Stu but still badass AF. Home boy is not letting people stepping on him anymore but he still cares for the people.
I know everyone finds him boring but I feel really bad for Heron in here. The pain of losing your dear mother drives you to want to die and join her again.
And Heron - Seraphim's reunion? Heart-warming and hear-breaking. They are similar and shared more pain than they would think.
"Only three things can cause the pain in his eyes. Love, war, and the gods. And he looks like he's had his fair share of all three."
This applies to both brothers actually. They lost their loved ones, they'd been through the war between the gods and the titans, and they were like the pawns of the gods.
The short moment Heron and Seraphim had together was golden. I love it.
Also why did they design Iris like one of the Christian angels???
No!!! Iris is one of the messengers of the Olympians, not the Primordials! She served as Hera's handmaiden!!!! WHY DIDN'T THEY LET HER BE HERA'S RIGHT-HAND WOMAN IN SEASON 1????
UGH!!!
They kinda ruin my sister trio :( Persephone and Athena, to be exact.
Why do they have to make Persephone on bad blood with Athena??? They are childhood friends (in the myths) why do they talk like they have always been at each other's throat? Seriously, Persephone has a good relationship with most other gods, why does people always think she hates them???
I get that Athena always put Olympus first like Persephone loves the Underworld so they are tensed but it would have interesting if they were torn between their duty and their friendship. But it's a me thing.
Ah, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself there. We haven't talked about Demeter trying to poison the earth yet.
I know TOO WELL the producer is trying to make Demeter the bigger bad so Hades will look better in comparison. Hades even tries to protest her evil scheme (but that will only shows his hypocrisy in the last episode, we'll get there later)
I'm mad that BOZ paints Demeter in a bad light. But you know what?
At this point, fuck it.
I will root for her even as a big bad villain. I will support Queen Demeter's right and wrong. If Hera and Seraphim almost destroys the world and y'all still love them, I will love my queen even when she tries to poison the world.
Now let me show you why the Olympian sisters are ⨠MAJESTIC ⨠when they commit crimes so ooh la la~~~
Yes, my queen. Please poison me with your plants :333
I love you too, my destructive queen of the Heavens â¤ď¸
And I love you three, my fire queen đĽ Please keep burning your enemy to ash đĽ°đĽ°đĽ°
Still hungry for more women?
The Amazonians are hereeeeeee!!!
Yeah, Heron and the gang meet them when fighting Talos. Nice nod to the mythical robot and the hydra, though the latter serves little purpose other than a little inconvenience.
But at least we have some back story of Alexia! Her moment with her aunt is brief but very touching :DDD
And it's really nice to show how the world is going upside down when Zeus the god of order is now gone. Though I really wish they would display his role as keeper of order more in SS1.
Oh, you made it this far?
Have an additional treat!
BABY ZEUS!!!!!!

Hi there, hun! May I have some headcanons for Ares (BoZ) having a amazon wife? She's a complete badass, muscular and slightly taller than he is, but sheâs also a sweetheart with who she likes/loves? Hera would love her, nobody changes my mind
I just see him as loving having a wife taller than him, especially if she's powerful - kinda like Raiden and Thrud from SNV/ROR
Awww! Ares does love his powerful women
A/N - So traditional Hellenism had Ares as the father of the Amazons, but for the sake of HCâs here, neither are related
Itâs a true match made in the heavens for the god of war and his warrior love
She can best him in a duel but also weave eloquent poetry to speak sweetly and softly to him.
Apollo and Hermes, though they give him grief, are fiercely loyal and supportive of their brotherâs love
Hera, despite her cool resigned exterior, offers the slightest bit of support for her eldest. At least he has the option and luxury of being happy in his union(s).
Bandaging each other up is a â¨love language â¨
So is sword training
Gifts are not necessary but Ares has gifted you a dagger - not too elaborate but not useless as well. Carved with runes and markings that ensure your protection
