Donald B's in the place to give me the pace; He said, "My man JD is on freebase." The boy JD was a friend of mine, Till I caught him in my car trying to steal a Alpine. Chased him up the street to call a truce; The silly cluck-head pulls out a deuce-deuce. Little did he know, I had a loaded 12 gauge; One sucker dead, LA Times front page.

Ethics and industry
Greetings everyone!
Today's main topic will be the music industry and a specific group in the early 90s: NWA!
NWA is famous for provocative tracks such as **** tha Police released in 1988 or Boyz-N-The Hood (1987). NWA comprised DR Dre, Eazy E, Ice Cube, DJ Yella, and MC Ren.
We are going to talk about their authenticity and how they somehow tricked the industry into letting them express how they feel.
It's no secret now that the music industry is all about money and manufactured culture, indeed as their main goal is to produce and sell they often disregard their artists' values and ethics which is the case for many artists nowadays. I thought that NWA would be a great example for artists who had fame but did not give up on their values. Let's not forget that RAP (rhythm and poetry) was considered as a subculture as it did not relate with society's principles in a way but its authentic bone was a major plus for most music enthusiasts! For example **** tha Police, by NWA, was a major source of political criticism, yelling out for police brutality and racism: "And not the other color so police think They have the authority to kill a minority"
Different Radios and TV channels such as MTV refused to diffuse this song regardless of its success! They were also forbidden from performing this song in various concerts but they still did!
It shows in a way that even if the music industry tries to regulate and brush under the rug real problems and real ethics, some artists still do express them

“Baby it’s cold outside is a rape song!” Bitch we radios still played R Kelly songs despite FUCKING FOOTAGE of him raping a teenage girl. Ugh, boondocks was a good middle finger to how my community acted
Also…do people forget that 40’s-50’s people were tongue in cheek about their sexual desires? You can easily pick up the innuendos if you remember pre sex revolution dynamics
Why do I got better critically thinking skills than grown ass adults? WHY, WHY, WHYYYY

Bored as hell and I wanna get I'll So I went to a place where my homeboys chill The fellows out there, making that dollar I pulled up in my 6-4 Impala They greet me with a 40 and I started drinking And from the 8-ball my breath start stinking Love to get my girl, to rock that body Before I left I hit the Bacardi Went to her house to get her out of the pad Dumb hoe says something stupid that made me mad She said somethin that I couldn't believe So I grabbed the stupid bitch by her nappy ass weave She started talkin shit, wouldn't you know? Reached back like a pimp and slapped the hoe Her father jumped out and he started to shout So I threw a right-cross cold knocked him out
Cause the boyz n tha hood are always hard You come talking that trash we'll pull your card Knowing nothing in life but to be legit Don't quote me boy, cause I ain't saying shit ____________
Eazy was the only one of the bunch that didn't sell out in the end, at least between him, Dre', and Cube.
MC Ren is low key enough that he doesn't pop up too much, so he may or may not have.
Eazy didn't know how to lay low, or wear a condom.
Cube doin the 'no vaseline' attempt at a diss track just sounded like him crying through gritted teeth, and the Antisemitism wasn't cool either you'd be dead if a Jewish dude hadn't picked y'all up and fought to make you famous.
I have a strangely high level of respect for E, him and Ice-T from that particular genera.
Shock -G too, but Digital Underground wasn't gangsta. Humpty Dance could fit in with the subject matter too though.
tangent over ________________
This is why I have so much trouble with people bitching and moaning about misogyny and shit in tv and movies an screaming and yelling about how women need to be treated as more than sex objects,
Then comes Cardi B to save the day in the CA wildfire season

they just want to be offended at things they don't understand, or care to look into.
None of the subject matters are anything new either, just stopped trying to be clever and dropped all subtext now.

Quick question, do y’all remember the movie “Boyz N Tha Hood?” And do you remember the guy dooky? (the one sucking on a pacifier, in the wheelchair.) Did his character have AIDS? Because I remember them talking about it in the scene at the cookout, I just wasn’t sure. It still some scenes from the movie that makes me shiver a little bit; and I grew up in the hood, so that says a lot.
I don’t remember that I need to rewatch it’s been so long since I’ve seen it!!!

Eazy motha who?
Early life
Eric Lynn Wright, born in Compton, California on September 7, 1963. Son of Richard Wright a postal worker and Kathie Wright a grade school administrator. Growing up in a neighborhood filled with gang and criminal activity he didn’t stay in school for long. He was introduced to drug dealing by his cousin and dropped out in tenth grade to sell drugs. Not only did he make a lot of money, being in the game for so long he earned power and respect in the streets. After his cousin was shot and killed he decided that he didn’t want to be in the drug selling business anymore. Still wanting to pursue his dream of becoming rich no matter what, his love for music and rap took drove him to another career that was safe.
Career
Eric Wright started recording music in the mid-1980s. Catching the attention of Jerry Heller, with his drug dealing money they formed the music label Ruthless Records. Eric becoming the owner of the label and Jerry Heller his manager. In 1986 Eric formed the group known as the N.W.A. As the group rose to fame Eric became known as Eazy-E. They released albums such as “Straight Outta Compton”, “N.W.A and the Posse”, “The N.W.A Legacy”, and many more with the notorious rap group. They rose to fame and became one of the most influential rap groups in history. They are well known in pop culture and are remembered in rap history. The group latsted a while until they broke up in 1992 due to money dispute between Dre, The D.O.C, and Eazy. Ice Cube left over royalty disputes; he wrote half of the lyrics on Straight Outta Compton and felt as if he wasn’t getting paid fairly. The break up of the group did not affect Eazy-E’s solo career. He continued to make music and release albums that later became platinum hits, peaked on Billboard 200, and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.
Accomplishments
September 13, 1988: Eric released his debut solo album “Eazy-Duz-It” with 12 tracks including songs such as “Boyz n the Hood” and “No more ?’s”. It went on to be certified double platinum and sold over 2.5 million copies in the US
December 15, 1992: Eric released his debut EP, “5150: Home 4 tha sick” it peaked at no. 70 on the Billboard 200 and no. 15 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums
October 19, 1993: His last solo album “It’s on (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa”. It peaked no. 5 on Billboard 200 and no. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. The album became multi- platinum in the first year of its release
Legacy
Became known as The Godfather of Rap, Eric Wright was the pioneer of rap and became one of the most controversial figures in gangsta rap. He influenced many other rappers at the time to express themselves in their music. Since his death in 1995 due to aids, many video and book biographies have been made. He was on cover of magazines, on billboards, and on the news. All of his EPs and studio albums chatted on the Billboard 200 and his singles charted in the US. Eazy-E was truly The Godfather of Rap.

![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2374dfb4d779c0086590873a2d03a7f2/2f602ebb280bfebd-12/s540x810/4a8e35574a141d704dd20dfb3fe49bf961bd59f6.jpg)
Four years later upon graduation, he sold the script to Columbia. The film's title is a double entendre : a play on the term boyhood and a reference to the 1987 Eazy-E rap song of the same name, written by Ice Cube. In 1986, John Singleton crafted the idea for the coming-of-age drama Boyz n the Hood as part of his application for film school. To a fan coming up in the era of Cardi or Tyler or Polo G or Playboi Carti, the golden age is now. Boyz n the Hood follows Tre Styles (Gooding Jr.), who is sent to live with his father Furious Styles (Fishburne) in South Central Los Angeles, surrounded by the neighborhood's booming gang culture. One of the incredible things about hip-hop is that it evolves and expands faster than any other genre in music history. to Houston to Chicago, and beyond.Īs we dug and listened, we found ourselves a little less swayed by “golden age” mystique than we might’ve been had we done this list 10 or 15 years ago. and Rakim and others, through the gangsta era, the rise of the South, the ascendance of larger-than-life aughts superstars like Jay-Z and Kanye West and Nicki Minaj, and on and on into more recent moments like blog-rap, emo-rap, and drill, from New York to L.A. The result was a list that touches on every important moment in the genre’s evolution - from compilations that honor the music’s paleo old-school days, to its artistic flourishing in the late Eighties and early Nineties with Public Enemy, De La Soul, Eric B. When confronted with a choice between the third (or fourth or fifth) record by a classic artist (Outkast, for instance, or A Tribe Called Quest) and an album from an artist who would make the list more interesting (The Jacka or Saba or Camp Lo), we tended to go with the latter option. Relatedly, a list of hip-hop-adjacent albums from the worlds of dancehall or reggaeton or grime would be fun and fascinating, and something for us to revisit down the road. They are more The Warriors than Boyz In Tha Hood, but there is something. That’s one reason we limited our scope to English language hip-hop. Exhumed Films has been doing the Ex-Fest for four years, inviting their many. But the history of rap LPs is so rich and varied, we were forced to make some painful choices - there are so many iconic artists with deep catalogs, so many constantly evolving sounds and regional scenes. Two hundred seems like an almost luxuriantly expansive number when you’re making an albums list, and in any other genre, maybe it would be.
