I hope this answer doesn't sound too bad but, i think social apps can be used to spread awareness. Like how many other social medias have been hiding and removing Palestinian content. Honestly i'd say that as long as you dont buy nitro, it should be okay.

The fact that Joost got disqualified yet we still don't fully know what the hell happened yet is super sketchy...

Also the fact that one of the most (if not the most) beloved songs this year got disqualified is a really, really bad move on EBU's part...

it's ridiculously stupid they've already lost about 90% of dutch viewers with this move and I'm sure they'll lose many international viewers as well because Europapa was so popular. This whole scandal is so ridiculously hypocritical and it looks and feels like a total setup. It feels entirely manufactured both to turn our eyes away from the cruelty in Rafah and to boost Israel in the final results.

They won't tell us the full story because they know it's unfair and hypocritical, Joost does not deserve any of this and I am so so saddened to see him turned into a scapegoat at the event that he's worked towards for years and years.

Today I canceled a membership to a service I actively use for the first time.

Discord, as you probably know if you're reading this, changed the layout without input from the community at large and without the option to change it back. Right as my Nitro membership renewed, go figure. Now, my phone's performance is significantly worse, and I'm experiencing more than a couple of bugs. They're lucky everyone I speak with regularly uses it, else I'd say boycott it until they change it back.

So the discord update for usernames is officially released. If you don't know how/why this is dangerous here's a tweet to start it off (and if anyone has more to say/add to this, please do so) :

Now, stalking is not only mentally damaging, it also has the likely chance to becoming something even more serious like a case of kidnapping or even assault of some kind. This can be especially dangerous with LGBTQIA+ youth, as typically those who are young don't know what to do and are too scared to do anything until it escalates to something horrifying.

Not to even mention the possibility of impersonation with how the update is being released slowly, someone who relies on their social media platform can have their chosen alias / handle stolen, and without the four number system (#____) someone can easily impersonate them without needing to pay a dime. "oh but what if the CC has nitro?" Okay? It's just 20 USD for a single month, and nearly 100 USD for an entire year; anyone with a well-paying job that gives a livable paycheck could get at least the months worth of nitro and have enough saved up for another month. There are content creators or people online who make money via their artwork/artistic labor like myself.

I do not have the following to keep up that 20 USD a month or that 100 USD yearly. Had I not taken my chosen handle as soon as I got access to the update, someone who knows me and wishes to scam people who may be looking to contact me could be scammed.

And if I don't have the following for the money, I sure as hell don't have the following to spread the word that there is an impersonator out there. Meaning my reputation as an artist could be ruined in that scenario, irreparably so.

And let's start on how Discord wasn't even MEANT to be social media; it was just meant to be a CHATTING APP FOR FRIENDS AND COMMUNITIES. No public posts, no stories, no nothing that every other social media has except for DMs.

This update is absolutely abhorrent and dangerous for those who are currently being stalked, or could be, as well as small artists/creators out there.

Boycott Discord Nitro. Stop giving them money. Make them have to go back to what worked before and was safer for everybody.

u reblogged my thing about discords thing and were all screwed man lmao they specifically made it so u cant go back to the old layout but you can go to settings, Appearance, then the New Layout section and Give Feedback and we can all bumrush their feedback tellin em how bad it is, thats what i did

Is it weird that I still want to watch Eurovision tonight? It's only to see how everyone handles Joost being disqualified, Israel in general and the whole voting section (and for Norway, Croatia and Estonia, I love their entries).

Trust me, I understand why people will boycott it (and rightfully so), yet I still want to see how it all will go down (I won't vote, never have anyway).

It's not weird, it's like this giant blazing dumpsterfire: hard to look away.

For me it was very hard to decide to boycott because Eurovision has been such an important staple event for me for years, and this year for the first (and last) time ever I've been following every Eurovision development very closely from the very beginning. But watching the first semi filled me with so much guilt and shame, and watching the second wasn't enjoyable at all for me. So I finally decided not to watch the final, to boycott for real.

AND THEN the whole Joost ship came crashing down. And now I'm so very glad I don't have to watch this shit show anymore.

I understand wanting to watch the drama unfold and wanting to see how your faves do in the final, but I can assure you that it will not be a fair competition, and after the loss of so many viewers who have left because of Joost the results are very highly stacked in Israels favor. If you can I do want to urge you not to watch the final, don't give these people your money, and definitely do not vote.

You can read about all the drama later and I know of at least one person who will be streaming the final illegally tomorrow so you could watch that if you truly want to see. I can't stop you, but at this point it's just not worth it to watch.
