Realistically, Bowser would be the one to propose first. Not only that, he'd do it sooner rather than later. Maybe even before the two of you would officially l court one another, or very soon after unless you voiced the fact you'd want to take everything slowly. If you haven't, he'd jump right into it. If you have, he'd wait right up to the point you'd say you were ready. Not a second longer.

Not because he is impatient - though he is impatient - but because he is just that eager to be with you and he just knows you are the perfect match for him.

He wants everyone to know that.

We know he falls in love strongly. And, once he loves you, he won't let go, so he doesn't understand why he'd have to wait to get married and officially have you as his royal consort. He wants you to be by his side as the second monarch of the kingdom, and he wants all the neighbouring allies and foes to know that you are his, now with an added ring on top.

And in terms of the actual proposal - it would be extravagant as there is no amount of gold he wouldn't spend on you.

Though he'd usually shower you with gifts, from delicate clothes and finely crafted jewellery to the most flavourful desserts, coming up to his proposal you'd notice a lot more of them. There'd be a lot more boxes wrapped in clean paper, with ribbons of all sort of colours wrapped around them. He'd leave them in your room and hide them in all the places you frequented.

All until he proposes.

He'd make sure that you were having a good day, preparing all sorts of events for you to take part in by yourself. A shopping spree if you enjoyed those. A buffet prepared in our name with all your favourite foods. Guards would escort you outside the Dark Lands so that you could spend the day in a more scenic environment.

All so you're distracted, giving him time as he prepares flowers and goes over what exactly he will say to you.

He'd make a grand entrance, all proud of himself. If you're uncomfortable with too many people, he would keep it as private as possible. He'd minimise the amount of guards with him, though not by much. After all, Bowser is a proud king. He'd want people to know of his proposal and he wants people to witness his love for you.

If he knows that you're comfortable with people and crowds then be prepared because the only thing that could rival his proposal would be the wedding itself. He'd have music playing as he enters, his back as straight as he could get it to seem all regal in front of you, even though his eyes would deceive his character. He's too madly in love to hold back on the heart-eyes.

Be prepared for the worst pick-up lines possible, because even though you're both already established as in love and in a relationship, he will use them.

Honestly, it'd probably be Kamek's suggestion.

It would be a love confession unlike any other.

His love is for you and you only, meaning that the only person he fears a negative reaction from is you. He feels no embarrassment from the way he acts and the way he makes it clear to anyone and everyone around that he loves you. Only your opinion matters to him.

He will sing for you in that gravely voice of his, present you flowers, and he will get you the shiniest ring he could get.

Depending on what your style is like, the type of metal the ring is made from would be different.

He could have presented you a black or silver-like metal ring that mimics the hues of the spiky bracelets he always wears. He could have presented you a typical golden ring with any form of embellishment to give it the depth you deserve. He could have presented you a rose gold ring. Literally any ring you can imagine if that's what suits your interests. And, no matter the base of the ring, they all would be encrusted with matching gems and precious stones.

Whatever ring choice he settled for, the wedding ring would be far richer. No penny will be spared.

And speaking of no penny spared - the wedding would be quick to follow and it would be the grandest event of the times.

All of your clothes would be custom made, matching in all the possible ways. The accents would be either your favourite colours or they would be the colour of your eyes if you so wished it. Any ribbons would be in that colour. Any embedded gems and sewn in sequins would all follow the colour scheme you select.

No matter your choice, Bowser will be all the more enamoured.

He'd prepare a special venue somewhere within his domain to ensure that everything would be perfect. It had to be perfect. Bowser would not have it any other way. Not for you. The time of day must be perfect. The weather must be perfect. The decorations much be perfect.

Everything would be meticulously picked out in a way he knew fit your liking.

And speaking of meticulously picked out, all of the music would be written by him and prepared perfectly for you. Though he wouldn't play it himself as he'd obviously be at the altar, he'd have the most skilled musicians of his kingdom recite it instead.

And, since all the titles to his melodies would be themed around you, he would expect pure perfection.

Or else he would end up short of a few musicians.

In terms of the guest list, Bowser would invite everyone - or at least everyone of significance. His allies would all get invited. King Boo, King Bob-omb. Bowser would even invite some of his enemies just for the sake of pridefully showing off his new consort-to-be. Anyone you'd like would be invited, be that family or friends - their status doesn't matter to him - all with front seats at the reception.

The enemies do include Princess Peach, Mario, and Luigi.

Bowser would have been extremely worried and stressed before you walked down the aisle. His cheeks would show a bright flush from past the scales and his brows would be knitted and crossed across his face, twitching with anxiety.

What if you changed you mind? What if you didn't want to marry him?

His eyes would be all over the place, skimming the crowd in anticipation, right up to the point when you showed up across the room and the music started playing.

Then he'd be utterly awestruck.

His eyes would go wide, taking you all in and watching as you walked towards him. His maw would be left lightly agape, and his breath would be stuck inside his throat as he visibly followed you with the turn of his head. Even when you finally stood in front of him he'd feel like he's in a dream, leaning in to get a closer look and slouching more than usual to be all the more nearer.

This would be one of the first and only times Bowser would stutter. He doesn't know what to say, and all he'd have is this goofy smile paired with half-lidded heart-eyes. in that moment, for him, there'd be just you and him. How he appeared to the onlookers did not matter to him. He only cared how he'd look in front of you.

Oh, and Kamek would be the marriage officiant.

You'd say your vows whilst Bowser's tail would wag like the tail of an excited puppy.

He'd lean down for you to kiss him and grin even more when you did with a shine in his eyes, heart hammering loud enough for you to hear. There'd be plenty of times when he'd look back at the guests in attendance with a proud look in his gaze like: "Everyone look, this is my consort. They're my spouse now!" He'd be so happy with himself. He'd be so happy to have you.

Now, the wedding ceremony would have been held outside the castle, but the after party would be held within it.

Bowser would have had one of his largest ballrooms prepared, matching the decor of the wedding itself and making sure it all ties together with the grey and black bricks of his castle. Everything would be perfectly polished, clean, and tidy. Nothing would dare be out of place as the two of you celebrate. There would be not a single spec of dust or ash in sight.

During the actual party, the only time he'd be separated from you would be when he's discussing something with the other kings, whether that be them congratulating him or having polite conversation. Whatever it would be, his eyes would never leave your figure, following your movements with ease.

And when he's done entertaining them, he'd come straight to you.

At first, the other guests wouldn't know what to do. They'd want to talk to you, congratulate you on your wedding or catch up with you if they're your friends, however they'd be too frightened of Bowser's huge figure looming behind you like a protective boulder.

Only when Peach takes the initiative and walks up to the two of you does the rest of the crowd relax. She'd congratulate the two of you, politely bowing with a soft look in her eyes as she addresses you. The two of you would talk all whilst Bowser leans in defensively like he's daring the princess to do anything.

He'd want to be anywhere else than near Peach.

Yes, he wants to show you off to the princess, however he doesn't want you to think he still harbours any affections towards her. He doesn't. He only loves you, and he doesn't want you thinking any less of him for being this close to his past obsession.

It takes a while for him to ease into the conversation, keeping to single animalistic grunts and rumbles whenever Peach would try and converse with him.

When the Mario Brothers come up to the three of you - or two if you opted to leave Peach to ease Bowser's nerves - he'd tense.

His fists would clench in a silent way of controlling himself, though with how close you'd stand to him you'd be able to hear the rumble of flames bursting inside of his chest. It'd take a little while of you absentmindedly stroking his arm to relax him back down, but eventually he'd be able to stand still and simply enjoy being close to you, even with his enemies so close to him.

Overall, the evening would be beyond pleasant.

The two of you would dance together, Bowser absolutely taken by you. The two of you would eat the towering cake, feeding him some whilst completely disregarding the eyes of the guests. In general, you'd have a great time.

Bowser and you met at a ball. He attempted to crash it and kidnap Princess Peach. You were a royal guest invited from another country in hooes of building political relationships.

I'm not going to say it was love at first sight because honestly it wasn't. He thought you were attractive but not enough to refute his affections for Peach.

It took a number of different encounters, one of which included an accidental kidnap by koopas who had assumed you were the princess merely because you were in her room at the wrong time. It's what happens when rooms are dark and you are snooping for political affairs.

You were only locked up for three hours honestly and you were treated well so it was a little disappointing to say the least when you found out you weren't the one being kidnapped by an obsessive and tall king.

When you do realize you feelings for one another it's only because of Mario being annoying and loud. Honestly. Bowser has shown up to another one of peaches many parties and Mario was yelling at him to leave, finally having enough yous stepped forward and gave that short Italian man a peice of your mind.

Having defended him in public, this is what cause bowsers attention. Wow. What a royal. No one had ever stuck up for him like this before. Definitely not someone who had such a high reputation in aristocratic society.

Soon the clown car came to a stop and Junior looked down and smiled at me "Don't move I'ma get my papa!" Junior said cheerfully as he jumped out of the clown car disappearing from my view. "PAPA!" I heard Junior yell "JUNIOR!!!" a load voice roared I froze 'this isn't real this isn't real this is a dream.. come on y/n wake up!' I thought to my self as I closed my eyes as the ground began to shake.

Bowser quickly ran to his small son he gently scooped his son up into his large hands and gently held him close to his snout. "Boy where have you been?! You've been missing all day!" Bowser growled as he pulled his son way from him to look at him. "Sorry Papa.. it's just I wanted to find you a perfect birthday present and I did!"Junior said happily as he jumped down from his father's hands and quickly ran to his clown car. "She was very nice to me, she's really pretty too and she knows my name!" Junior said with a smile "She?" Bowser asked as he walked closer to his son's clown car, Junior smiled as he tipped his clown are and a young pudgy woman rolled out and landed right in front of Bowser. Y/n looked up and her e/c eyes locked on Bowser glowing lava red eyes. Bowser had to admit she was pretty/cute. All the koopa guards ran over and pointed their weapons at y/n making her freeze up as she looked around in fear Junior growled and ran and hugged her back "Don't hurt her!" He growled as he shot a small fire ball at one of the guards. "LOWER YOUR WEAPONS!" Bowser growled making all the guards jump before they lowered their weapons for their king. Bowser leaned down and stuck out his large hand to y/n "I apologize miss." Bowser said gently y/n slowly grabbed a hold of his first finger as Bowser pulled her up to her feet. Junior smiled as he stayed on her back. "See papa I told you she's pretty!" Junior said with a smiled as he rubbed his cheek against hers. "Yes Junior you're right" Bowser said with a smile y/n blushed and smiled back "thank you King Bowser" y/n said. Bowser was shocked she was polite to him not begging to be let go or calling him a monster plus junior seemed to like her and she didn't seemed bothered that he was on her back and she never took her hand out of his. Bowser was definitely keeping her. "I've never seen you before where did you come from?" Bowser asked the young woman. "I don't know how to really explain this but I'm from another universe where I come from y'all are from a video game. The last thing I remember was falling asleep in my chair then waking up here.." y/n said as junior climbed off her. "You can stay here with us until we find you a way home." Bowser said without a thought. Y/n looked surprised "you would allow a complete stranger stay with you?" Y/n asked "Yes, a young woman like yourself doesn't need to be all alone in the woods, something could get you and I could never forgive me self if that happened." Bowser said as his eyebrows frowned. 'King Bowser is asking and not forcing me to do anything.. huh.. This might just be a trick for my to stay with him but he does have a point I don't want to be alone in a place I've never been..' y/n thought to herself "Ok as long as your ok with me staying with you." Y/n responded Bowser smiled and gently cupped both of her hands "Wonderful!!!" Bowser cheered as he brought y/n closer to him junior cheered as well. Bowser is 10ft 2 ins this koopa is very tall just one of his hands could hold y/n perfectly. "Kamek!!" Bowser yelled soon the wizard came flying into the room "Yes your highness" Kamek bowed before locking his eyes on the human woman in his Majesty's arms "We have a guest please go set up a comfortable room for her" Bowser said happily. Kamek was surprised but didn't complain his Majesty was happy and he swears if his eyes could they would be hearts they would be. "Yes your majesty." Kamek bowed before disappearing. Bowser gently picked up y/n and placed her on his shoulder then picked up junior "Come I'll show you are the castle so you don't get lost!" Bowser said as he started to walk deeper into the castle

Bowser was done showing y/n around the castle it was late now junior was sent to bed little bit ago. Kamek came to tell Bowser to tell him her room was done. Kamek lead Bowser and his guest to the guest room.

Kamek bowed before zooming off on his broom "it's late in the morning we'll share breakfast. Have a good night miss y/n" Bowser said as y/n looked up at him "good night king Bowser thank you again" y/n said with a tired smiled Bowser nodded before closing the door y/n kicked off her fuzzy slippers and hopped into the bed and it felt like heaven her eyes grew heavy before she passed out.

Bowser smiled to himself as he walked to his own chambers he was definitely keeping the young woman.

"I-It's just that.. well.."

"Spit it out already!" his temper simmers just as quickly as it spiked when he receives a smack to the shoulder, not really hurting him, but it sends the message.

"Nevermind!" The magikoopa considers whatever it was a lost cause and poofs himself out of the room with a cloud of pink smoke. "You didn't have to yell at him. Whatever I was talking about isn't that interesting."

A clawed finger finds its way under your chin and carefully turns your head up towards him, connecting his intense gaze with your own. "As if. Now, you were saying?"

King of the Koopas ||| Bowser x Reader

Some fluffy headcanons for Bowser inspired by his character model in the new Super Mario movie. (Because I paid a bit too much attention to him when I first watched it).

Warnings: Spoilers for the movie if you count description of Bowser's character model as a spoiler. There's nothing beyond that.

A/N: I may have one group project and one coursework due this week, alongside a seminar on Monday and an exam on Tuesday - buuuut my love for Bowser prevails.

Bowser has multiple small scars all over his body - from his legs to his arms - all from his previous battles and any other accidents he's been in. Notably, there are a couple of small marks near the right edge of his jaw. They're mostly unnoticeable, however there is a pale shine when they catch the light, especially firelight and any hot glow emanating from the falling streams of lava.

Bowser had forgotten about them. To him, they are just one of the many cuts and bruises he's gained from fighting. They're just insignificant parts of his body. Not only that, he wouldn't see them often unless he was to look into a reflective surface, which realistically he wouldn't do that commonly unless he needs to boost his confidence and pep talk himself.

But, once you notice, you won't forget.

He wouldn't know how to react when you kiss him there.

At first, he wouldn't assume much of it. A kiss is a kiss and he will take anything he can get from you with how touch-starved he is. From your gentle caresses to your undivided attention. He'd revel in the way you tilt and angel his face, and will get all flustered and smitten and every other love related word.

However, even through his heart-eyes, he would take note of you kissing that one spot if you chose to make it a habit. It would take a while, but he would pick up on it and he'd eventually ask why you choose to kiss that spot every time, only to be surprised when he finds out it's all because he has scars there.

He would completely melt if you were to kiss any other scar on his body, especially any on his arms where he can see you.

Tough-guy who? Not Bowser. Not when he's with you.

And there would be no poker-face. He's bad enough at masking his emotions as is. If you were to look up at his face, you would see him grinning like a lovestruck teenager.

Oh, and speaking of shiny and reflective things: his scales reflect light. A lot.

The ombre of green scales on his shoulders have an almost iridescent sheen to them. They reflect the environment very well, glowing golden in the firelight and purple in the night sky. Some of the scales are glossier than others, and there's a pattern of mismatched reflectiveness.

And sometimes the scales look like scattered stars around his body.

Because of their position, it would be another aspect of himself Bowser doesn't really pay attention to. Not only are they just like any other scales to him, and he has plenty of those, but he wouldn't pay much attention to the appearance of his shoulders and neck. I doubt it would even be something his eyes flicker to when looking at himself in the mirror.

Which is why you mentioning them would throw him completely off course.

His eyes would be wide, and he'd do his best to look at the scales on his shoulders, angling his head to see what you see. He wouldn't understand why you find them so interesting, and would be too stunned to fully take in your explanations if you chose to compliment him.

You find his scales fascinating? But they're just scales... And you say they shine like stars? But diamonds can do the same thing...

He wouldn't understand at first, until he realises you like them because they're beautiful in your eyes and they're a part of him.

And then cue the tail wagging, because he would be the giddiest Koopa in his entire kingdom.

And another thing - if him lacking a pokerface wasn't obvious enough - his eyes glow with his emotions. Though it's mainly visible with ones of wrath and anger, they do glow. And there are stages to it. They go from his normal crimson coloured eyes and carefully climb up levels of brightness. They become a copper orange and increase in saturation to mimic the tones of molten rock.

It's almost like he takes the phrase 'seeing red' literally.

It's that glow that lets you know whether your attempts to calm him down work. If you coo at him, gently stroking and patting his arms to place him back in reality, you'd know of its effectiveness almost immediately. If it works, that dangerous glow would sizzle out, and he'd look at you with the most endearing eyes, completely forgetting what made him so angry.

There'd still be smoke puffing out of his nose, but the absence of the glow would tell you that he sees you, and that he's in control of himself.

If your attempts to calm him down don't work, you'd know to give him some space and wait patiently for him to calm himself down. He would, eventually, and he'd come straight to you.

It's also what lets you know if something you said upset him. Not like he'd ever direct his anger at you, though. It's always good to know.

- would definitely try to get into your interests despite how out of place he seems

- honestly feels extremely protected around you, can be as carefree and optimistic as he usually is knowing you have his back if anything happens

- as different as you two dress and look and as confident as he is in himself, he did have his moments where he’s worried he doesn’t match you enough or isn’t what you want back before you two got together

- had a phase where he tried to wear more black, more leather, wore your accessories and chains and such

- overall it took you comforting him and saying that he was more than enough for him to go back to his usual nature

- will love keeping your hobbies and interests around the house, whether or not it matches his own furniture or displayed interests

- to double on feeling safe around you, he’s very heavy on cuddling and holding onto you whenever he can

Bowser x female reader

Silence filled the large open area where the mushroom kingdom edge meets the dark lands. Bowser stood at his full height at 10 ft 2 inches glaring down at the Mario Bros and Y/n with a cage with peach in it beside his knee. "Choose Mario. Peach or y/n. Choose y/n you'll never see peach again, choose Peach and you'll never see y/n again and all you have to do is sign the paper for a peace treaty" Bowser said with a smug smile with a paper and pen in hand. "Mario!" Peach cried "Mario don't we can figure something else out!" Luigi begged his brother. Mario looked at peach, Bowser and then y/n "Mario-" y/n started before she was harshly pushed down In front of bowser's feet. Y/n slowly pushed her self up on to her knees looking back at Mario as he signed the paper before looking up at Bowser. He smiled darkly before leaning down opening Peach's cage, she quickly crawled out then got up and ran into Mario's arms. "In you go dear" Bowser said gently curling a large scaly finger under y/ns chin. Tears rolled down y/ns cheeks before she crawled into the open cage, she sat down and locked her arms around her legs to her chest. Bowser shut the cage door before picking up the cage "Y/n I -" mario started "save the sob story Mario." Y/n snapped. "Thank you for the peace treaty" Bowser said with a smile looking down at the girl in the cage in his arms as he and his troops started to walk back to his castle.

Donkey Kong X Queen!Reader

Oh. my. god. This one is so long.

Summary: Donkey Kong meets you, a Queen from another kingdom, and is head over heels for her royal highness.

Meeting

• Mario, Luigi, Peach, Toad and DK were exploring other parts of their world with their karts, mainly since Mario and Luigi were still pretty new to the place.

• And with Bowser being gone?

• Literally the perfect time to go for a little wander.

• DK originally wasn't going to go, but he couldn't resist annoying Mario. He would playfully criticise the way Mario would try to flirt with Peach, and Toad would immediately interrupt by saying Mario was doing a great job.

• Luigi would try to hide his laughter while Mario looked at him, unimpressed.

• While all this was happening, Peach just lightly blushed.

• She couldn't lie.

• She liked the short, red plumber.

• The group came up to a kingdom that Peach knew well. It was your kingdom!

• It was an elegant sight. Citizens of all different species were greeting everyone they saw. Some danced, some sang, it was clear that everyone loved their home.

• And in the middle of all the houses and people, stood a grand castle. It was decorated with your favourite colours and ornaments.

• While being heavily fortified, it was a welcoming sight.

• The group tried to take everything in, but there was just too much to see.

• Peach led them towards the castle down the same path she had taken multiple times before.

• Once at the castle doors, the guards stood strong, about as tall as Donkey Kong was on his knuckles.

• They recognised Princess Peach and bowed respectfully before letting the group through the doors.

• The interior was even more magnificent than the exterior. There were stained glass windows of you and the rulers before you.

• Peach pointed at the one of you, "that's Queen (Y/N), the current ruler of (Kingdom Name)."

• The one thing the group noticed about your window was you were by yourself, while the other windows had the previous royal couples on them.

• The couples stood side by side while you stood proudly with your signature weapon in hand.

• Before they knew it, the group had reached the throne room. Your throne was decorated accordingly to match the rest of your home.

• In the centre of the room was a circular display of all the kingdoms. You looked over it, your back facing the group. When you heard footsteps, you turned and smiled brightly at the sight of your friend.

• You and Peach reunited with a hug while everyone else took in your appearance.

• Whether you were wearing a dress, or a suit (or both!), you looked powerful with your weapon in it's designated place on your person.

• Mario, Luigi and Toad watched you with admiration, ready to show their respect with a bow.

• But Donkey Kong?

• He couldn't move.

• His eyes were wide and his body was still. He could barely focus on his breathing.

• And the worst part was... Mario noticed this.

• "Looking a little bit stiff there, pal."

• "Mario. Shut the fuck up."

• Peach introduced you to her friends and they loved you. You were so welcoming and kind, almost the same as Princess Peach. However, they did notice you were a little more reserved and serious.

• You gave them a quick tour of the castle and pointed out sections of the kingdom.

• Everyone admired each thing that you pointed out.

• Meanwhile, DK was admiring you.

• While the others took in the scenery, his eyes kept focusing back on you.

• And he didn't notice that you were doing the same.

• When you noticed his eyes were on you, you stuttered before looking away.

• You tried to hide it, and you did pretty well.

• If it wasn't for Peach seeing right through you.

• You would glance at DK when he wasn't looking.

• On occasion, you would take a quick look at his arms.

• That was a mistake.

• Now you couldn't think straight.

• After the tour, the group went their own way to explore further, and they eventually went home.

• Before they left, they thanked you for a wonderful time and you smiled warmly.

• DK thanked you personally while the others were heading towards their karts.

• He held your hand and gently touched his forehead to the top of it.

• "I was nice meeting you."

• DK never really had a way with words when it came to formalities. Sure, he was pretty good at playfully flirting, everybody knew that.

• But he couldn't really speak to a Queen the same way he yelled out to his fans.

• Yet, you still blushed at his simple statement.

• "It was lovely meeting you too."

• Your voice was like silk to him. He practically melted right there.

• And he knew he would be back.

• And you did too.

Meeting Again

• DK pretty much memorised the way to your kingdom by taking mental notes on his way back home.

• He couldn't stop thinking about you. And your kingdom, to be honest.

• There was something so comforting about it, and about you.

• So, a few days after his first visit with his friends, he chose to go back by himself.

• The second time travelling to your kingdom didn't seem nearly as long as the previous time.

• Once he reached the doors, the guards stopped him.

• Without Princess Peach there, he didn't have authority to just waltz on into the castle.

• After he asked (very nicely, in fact), they walked him to the throne room, which was where you were, sitting in your grand chair.

• He smiled and his eyes beamed.

• Why was he so excited? So eager to see you? Why had the thought of you stayed in his mind for days?

• You saw him, your eyes widened. It seemed you were having the same dilemma.

• It was him! The person you couldn't keep your eyes off during he and his friends visit!

• But why was he here? Was there urgent news? Had Bowser escaped from his tiny prison?

• "Donkey Kong? What are you doing here?" You truly wanted to know.

• His name... you said his name! You remembered his name!

• "Well, I uh... I'm here because..."

• He was frozen. He was fumbling over his words. How was he fumbling over his words?!

• You saw his discomfort and asked the guards to leave.

• That seemed to relax DK. Was he nervous? You guessed that might be it.

• He exhaled once he noticed it was just you two.

• "I actually don't know."

• Well, then.

• "I guess I... you seemed cool so I wanted to see you again."

• Sure.

• He travelled alllllll this way because he thought you were "cool".

• Yet, you took it as a compliment. You weren't going to judge him for his reasoning. You were just happy to see him, if you were honest.

• "I'm glad I made a good first impression." You laughed.

• He scratched his neck with a anxious smile.

• "Care to take a walk?" You suggested getting out of the castle, or at least out of the throne room, thinking it would put him at ease.

• He immediately accepted your invitation.

• As you walked, he told you about his kingdom while you told him about yours.

• You explained your duties while he explained his fathers.

• Although you were around same age, how were you a Queen while he was a Prince?

• How long had you been Queen? How long had he been the champion of the Jungle Kingdom arena?

• What was it like being adored by your subjects, while he was adored by fans?

• Countless questions, so many answers, non-stop talking.

• Your conversation had started out a little awkward, but you two quickly became comfortable in each others company.

• The biggest thing DK took note of was how quickly your speech and body language changed. You seemed much more relaxed after leaving the castle and embracing the nature around you. You spoke so fluently, so elegantly, so passionately.

• DK could listen for hours.

• And for hours, he did.

• Time flew and before you knew it, a couple hours had gone by.

• He knew he had to go, and you knew too.

• Before parting, he presented the same gesture he gave you the first time you met: his forehead to the top of your hand.

• Except this time, he added a small kiss on your hand.

• Heat rushed to your face.

• And he was gone.

• These surprise visits continued. Each time, it was in your kingdom. DK had insisted.

• Then there were letters.

• Then there were gifts.

• And eventually, during a day where you spent the visit in your room, you sat on your bed, reading a book, while he laid on your floor, staring at the ceiling.

• "I think I like you."

• What the fuck.

• No warning. Just like that.

• You looked down at him, his eyes still observing the ceiling.

• He didn't feel the need to hide it anymore. His heart had been beating so fast it had started to hurt. He had to tell you.

• You ever so slightly smiled when he glanced at you, unsure of your reaction.

• "I think I like you too."

Dating

• In the early stages of your relationship, all your dates were in your kingdom, or somewhere near by.

• Picnics, kart rides, relaxing in your room, and anything that gave you alone time were the main types of dates you had with DK.

• Kart rides were one of his top favourites.

• They were either you two using your own karts, or you shared his.

• When you're using your own karts, it's always a race.

• There's no worries, no responsibilities, just peace.

• When you're sharing his kart, it's always a simple drive with your head on his arm/shoulder.

• Sometimes you like to stand up and hold his kart for balance. You're surprisingly good at stabilising yourself, even at such quick speeds.

• The first time you did this, DK almost had a full panic attack and practically begged you to come down. You promised him you'd be fine, and you were.

• But that didn't stop his secret worrying.

• He knew you were capable. He just cares a lot <3

• After the first couple months of you officially dating, you asked if you could visit his home.

• But DK was hesitant.

• Not because he was ashamed, no, not at all! In fact, he was excited to show you off, whenever that would be.

• It was mostly because he didn't know how his father would react.

• A kong and a human?

• It was rather an odd combination, you had to admit.

• But you assured him if his dad didn't approve of you, you would leave immediately. No hard feelings, whatsoever.

• It took a little convincing, but he eventually agreed.

• He first wanted to tell his friends, mostly Peach.

• They had noticed he went on "trips" more often after he had met you.

• Peach was the one who guessed that he was visiting you, so she wasn't all that surprised when he confided in her.

• She was surprised, however, when he told her you two were a couple.

• DK didn't know what reaction he would get from her, but he definitely didn't think it would be squealing.

• Thank GOD no one was around to hear.

• Specifically Mario.

• DK actually kept Peach updated on how your relationship was going.

• She gave him advice on what you liked to do <3

• On your first date in the Jungle Kingdom, DK obviously had to give you a tour.

• At first, he didn't show any signs of PDA, so you didn't initiate any.

• Until he eventually went "fuck it" and put his arm around your shoulder to give you a kiss on your cheek.

• He introduced you to Diddy Kong and his dad, Cranky Kong {more details in the next section} and once you became familiar with them, Donkey Kong's nerves vanished.

• Afterwards, it seemed silly to him on how anxious he was.

• You told him you understood how he felt and gave him a light peck.

• Holy. Shit.

• He's so glad he brought you to his home.

• Now you can hang out here too??

• Any of your dates in the Jungle Kingdom consisted of more kart racing, and even exploring the massive garage where all the karts are built.

• DK actually helped you build your very own kart to keep in his kingdom :)

• He made sure the guards in his home knew of your importance.

• Importance being your status of "Queen" and status of "Donkey Kong's Girlfriend".

• He made sure you were treated as well as how you were treated at home.

• Once everyone he wanted to tell knew about you, he had no shame with giving you love in every possible place.

• In your kingdom, the amount of PDA he gave you was up to you.

• But in his kingdom?

• He wanted EVERYONE to know.

Meeting His Father

• Cranky Kong wasn't a fan in the beginning.

• A human with a kong?

• And with you being a Queen, no less. There wouldn't be any time for you two to hang out anyways, would there?

• Until DK told him you had actually been dating two months prior to telling him.

• Cranky Kong was both baffled and disappointed.

• The father and son actually got into an argument about you.

• Neither of them knew you were standing in the doorway, eavesdropping.

• You walked up to them, mid-argument.

• They both quietened and watched you.

• DK looked at you worriedly. He didn't want you to be yelled at or insulted by his grumpy dad.

• Cranky kept his angry expression.

• "Sir. I don't want to be the reason your family falls apart."

• Cranky's gaze softened.

• "It was a pleasure meeting you. And it was such a joy meeting your son."

• The way you spoke so formally yet with such emotion.

• "Thank you for opening your kingdom to me for this time." You curtsied/bowed and squeezed DK's hand before turning to leave.

• Cranky's hardened expression dropped.

• You were so respectful, so understanding, so calm.

• So... not like Donkey Kong.

• DK froze as you left. You seem to have that effect on him.

• He turned to his dad. So much hurt, written so clear on his face.

• Cranky looked at him, then to your disappearing form, then back to his son.

• "Go get her."

• DK raced to bring you back to the room.

• Just from that small, stressful interaction, Cranky Kong was impressed.

• You impressed the King.

• ...And now you're besties <333

Kids?

• It was never really DK's goal to have kids.

• He never really thought about it.

• In a way, he already had a kid. Diddy Kong was a menace.

• (Speaking of, Diddy immediately liked you)!

• But if you ever did become pregnant, DK would tell you the decision was ultimately yours.

• If you kept the child, he would be the BEST dad.

• He would want his kid to have fun every second of the day.

• He would constantly fall asleep with the child on his chest and snore very, very loudly. Yet, the kid would stay asleep.

• Expect two sets of eyes staring at you in the morning.

• If you didn't keep the child, DK would love you just the same.

• All he needed was you.

• You being happy and healthy is all he could wish for.

• You would spend the rest of your days with just him.

• Going on adventures, ruling over the two kingdoms, side by side.

Marriage

• You chose where the wedding was.

• DK's kingdom? It was during the day.

• The wedding was huge.

• It was more of a party.

• Mario, Luigi, Toad, Peach, everyone you invited had come.

• His fans went absolutely crazy.

• The first time they found out he had a girlfriend, the entire kingdom wanted to know more about you.

• When they found out you were a Queen from another kingdom, they wanted to know even more about you.

• In a nice way.

• Where was your kingdom? What did it look like?

• Although you were a Queen, you acted no different to how you were without the crown.

• You were so kind, so soft, and your presence was silencing everywhere you went.

• In a good way :)

• Although you weren't considered weak, you were still smaller than the Kongs, so it seemed everyone was careful around you.

• The citizens loved you, the guards protected you, and DK assured you they would've acted the exact same way even if you weren't royalty.

The sun was just about to set while you and Donkey Kong were on a drive. This was one of the times where he drove while you relaxed in his lap.

You felt so content with the wind in your face and DK's hand resting on your hip.

Your eyes had been closed for a while with a small smile on your face. You felt the temperature drop just slightly and you blinked and noticed the sun was almost halfway down.

You chose to stand on DK's kart, just next to where he sat, like you always did.

Taking in a deep breathe while holding on tightly so you wouldn't fall, you admired the view as DK kept the kart steady. A small bump in the road approached you and DK casually wrapped his arm around your leg and held your thigh to give you extra balance.

You looked down and smiled at him. He cared about you so much and he showed it through these small gestures. It was his instinct to protect you at any given moment, even if he didn't notice what he was doing.

With one hand, you ran it through his hair, as a thanks. He leaned into your touch and relaxed his head on the side of your thigh that he was holding on to.

These were definitely one of your favourite moments with your dearly beloved.

You and Dk had kind of a rocky start when you first met.

He was just so…out there.

And you were not.

So there were definitely a lot of walls to break before you guys even developed a friendship.

You met at the arena when mario was going to fight in order to win an alliance with the Kong army.

You were sitting up on the balcony with Cranky Kong and peach.

Dk hadn’t even noticed you at first.

He was too busy trying to gain his dad’s attention while showing off his muscle.

Then his eyes shifted in your direction.

And when he saw you he was just struck by your beauty.

“Hey…Hey whats your name?”

You looked around to see who he could be talking to before it hit you like a ton of bricks that he was talking to you.

He smiled at you and winked before turning his attention back to his brother.

He was here to fight after all.

After that event it kind of felt like Dk followed you everywhere.

And you didn’t mind, you were just wondering why he had chosen you.

You just chose not to respond to his complement because you honestly didn’t know what to say, but that didn’t seem to stop him from keeping his mouth closed.

You didn’t even talk to him much, he did all the talking and you sat back to listen to him.

During the events of helping Peach take down Bowser, Dk stayed right by your side.

Seriously he never left once, he was always there.

Mario picked up on what this “smash monkey” was trying to do and he really wasn’t a fan of it.

And the fact you seemed perfectly fine with it bothered him even more.

So whenever Mario would try to separate the two of you and keep you close to him, Dk just wouldn’t have it.

He would snatch you back from your brother and keep you next to him, where you belonged.

You really didn’t like it when they fought over you, but you understood Dk was probably just happy to have a human friend so you didn’t mind.

It was a completely different story from his perspective.

He just had a really really big crush on you.

He just didn’t understand how could a girl as beautiful as you be related to someone as annoying as Mario.

Even though you didn’t talk much, he still loved being around you.

But sometimes it did worry him a bit.

Did you secretly hate him? Were you in love with someone else? All these thoughts ran through his head so finally he decided to ask you about it.

So when you and Dk got swallowed by the giant eel after the big battle at rainbow road, he figured this would be the time to ask.

“Do you hate me?” He asked, breaking the silence.

You looked up at him and raised a brow.

“No.” You responded before looking back down at your feet.

Then why do you never talk to me? Did I do something to upset you?”

You sighed and shook your head.

“No you didn’t…It’s an issue on my part.”

His face contorted from one of worry to one of confusion, He didn’t understand what you mean’t.

“I’m just not good with other people. It’s not that I don’t like you, i’m just nervous around everyone.”

He didn’t understand how you felt, but he didn’t need to understand to help you.

He grabbed your hands in his very large ones and squeezed them reassuringly.

You blushed as he stared at you with those big eyes you just couldn’t bring yourself to turn away from.

You really were not expecting that.

You and Dk came in as the fight was still at its peak, so you helped out by fighting some koopa troopers who just so happened to be in the way.

The fight at the Mushroom kingdom looked like it was about over, You and Mario found Luigi and had your moment as you were reunited, the same went for Dk and his dad.

Everything was fine until Bowser released that giant bullet onto Peaches castle.

Mario stepped in and led it away into one of the pipes which seemed like a smart plan at first, but it ended sucking all of you in with it.

You all landed in Brooklyn and Dk made sure to keep you in the backlines.

The two of you had been through so much together, he didn’t wanna risk loosing you now.

But when Dk has his little brawl with Bowser it wasn’t looking too good for him.

Bowser had him up in a chokehold and was getting ready to punch the life out of him.

You needed to help but you didn’t have anything on you so you grabbed a brick from one of the buildings that had been destroyed and threw it at bowsers head.

He dropped Dk and slowly turned his head towards you.

He huffed and angrily ran in your direction but before he could get to you Dk pushed him out of the way.

“(Y/n) go get the star!” Dk yelled and nodded over to the star.

You understood and ran as fast as you could over towards the star but sadly Dk wasn’t able to hold Bowser off forever and Bowser came after you once again.

He caught up to you and grabbed you by the collar, throwing you back with intense strength.

Dk caught you in his strong arms and didn’t let you go.

He wouldn’t let you go. He couldn’t let that crazy turtle freak hurt you again.

“You’re okay I got you.” He comforted as he stroked your hair with his finger.

You clung onto his big fuzzy arm, shaking violently as a few tears escaped your eyes from the fear you just felt.

The rest of the fight you and Dk sat back to let Mario handle it since you had done all you could do by that point.

The conclusion to the battle was sweet, Bowser was defeated and everyone was happy.

You decided that you didn’t want to stay in Brooklyn anymore, Instead you wanted to go back to the Jungle Kingdom with Dk.

Your brothers chose to stay in the Mushroom Kingdom meaning they were always close, which you were happy about.

Dk and you got together(obviously) and ended up having a pretty successful relationship.

Sure it took a lot of effort to get to where you are now, but you’re so happy you put forth that effort.

Dk is pretty happy you got together because he was really wondering if that crush would ever go away.

Random relationship headcanons about Bowser because I have a lot of totally normal thoughts about him. Enjoy <3!

Despite how mean and tough he is to his minions and his enemies, he never shows that same sort of attitude towards you at all. It can be very jarring to see him shout and boss around his minions one moment and be sweet and gentle with you the next.

He understands his appearance and strength are intimidating, and so he is always sure to be extra loving towards you. No matter how much you reassure him, he'll always secretly worry that he might scare you away one day.

He is a big fan of PDA and will be clingy and touchy, not caring who is watching. If you voice complaints or tell him you're uncomfortable, he will listen... and just hover around you instead. He just likes being close to you!

If he feels like he isn't getting enough attention from you, he will pout and sulk about it. Maybe huff and puff about it dramatically. Getting hugs and kisses will make him quit the act immediately, though hehe.

Bowser loves showing that he is able to provide for you and protect you. Any meals, clothes, etc. you could want will always be given to you. Any time you feel scared or worried about something, or maybe put into a dangerous situation, he will be right there to keep you out of harms way.

I don't really think this needs saying, but he is very protective of you. He always keeps a close eye on you and isn't afraid to swoop in whenever you need his help. He also doesn't take people disrespecting you lightly and will punish anyone who does so.

It's really important to him that you get along with Jr. and the koopalings, and so he will suggest doing activities all together. Seeing you play and talk with them all makes his heart grow.

Whenever you are the one who initiates any physical affection or you praise and compliment him, he can't help but turn red. He's not really used to receiving this type of attention at all, and it makes him feel good when you remind him that you love him and want to be with him. Physical touch and words of affirmation are his love languages

He adores holding your hand and carrying you in his arms. When you two have a quiet moment together, he will gently take your hand into his claws, giving kisses on the back of your hand. Being the size he is, it's very easy for him to lift you up and carry you, and he will do it all the time.

This does mean he will pick you up at random points of the day by surprise to see your shocked reaction. He can't help but find it cute, especially if you pout and scold him about it. He just loves to tease.

He has so much love to give, and he's such a hopeless romantic. No matter how long you two are together, he will always be passionate and romantic with you. Once you two start dating, you'll never be able to get rid of him. You practically have him wrapped around your finger hehe.

A/N: Soft Bowser anyone? Thank you for requesting this because it was a blessing to come up with! I mixed in sleep too since it felt fitting and followed the train of thought, so I hope you don't mind. Plus, I hope you don't mind how I rambled and went into way too much detail.

It took Bowser a while to settle comfortably with you in his bed. He wasn't sure how to lie down at first. Obviously, he can't sleep on his back because of the shell, at least not as well as he'd want. It's not that it's a terrible choice, but moving in his sleep becomes an issue. He'd much rather lie on his back when he is awake or when the bed is soft enough to sag underneath him in a way that doesn't leave him in an awkward position. Otherwise, when he does fall asleep, he wakes up with sore muscles and irritating aches.

Aches that remain throughout the day because massaging rigid scales to relax the muscles in his arms and legs is positively difficult.

The only other real options are his stomach and his sides, none of which are any comfort to him. At least before you appeared. His weight made sleeping flat down on his chest uncomfortable, but the best choice given his horns that liked to prod and get stuck on the fabric of the pillows and bedsheets. Once again, however, little to no chance at moving, meaning that there was always quite a bit of pains when he awoke again.

Sleeping on his side always took a lot of adjusting. At times, the hard shell would settle uncomfortably, tucking at his scaled skin, pulling down or being pulled up with the push-back of the mattress. Other times it was the horns that was the issue with no obvious way to rest his head without leaving a huge gap before his chest. Alone, he couldn't seem to find a good spot. His arm would bend awkwardly, or his head would sag with the gravity or tilt in a way to tensly accommodate the horns.

This all changes when you fall into the mix.

Sleeping on his side with you in his arms quickly became his favourite position. You gave him purpose, turning him into a large protective bolder of perpetual heat. He'd cradle you like you were the most fragile thing in the world. One arm would be curled above your head, like a wall guarding you from danger, his claws following your form but never really touching. Simply keeping you from straying away. Something that kept the warmth in.

The way it lay above you also allowed Bowser to have his head tilted in your direction always, resting on his own shoulder and observing.

His other arm would be draped over you, gently pulling you close to him. Close enough that you could hear the quiet rumble in his chest, like a permanent purr. Close enough that you could feel the warmth of flames drift from inside of him. Whatever that mysterious source of his fire was.

Close enough that you could hear the beating of his heart if you focussed enough. Not loud enough that it was the only thing you could hear. Just loud enough that if you wished, you could tune it out completely, or listen to it as if it was your own personal lullaby.

He'd always be careful when holding you like that. His sharp claws still in concentration whenever he ran them against your skin, making sure he wouldn't graze or cut you by accident. An almost new sense of control over his strength, one he hadn't shown to anyone before you arrived. He'd use the backs of them, those smooth curves that formed the long side of the arch, to caress you.

Allowing them to flow in a way that showed you he wouldn't hurt you. That eventhough he had the capabilities to cause pain, especially with how gruff and short-tempered he could be to the people below or against him, he would never be that to you.

He'd make sure that you'd know that though he was all rough and tough towards everyone else - towards you he was soft. He would never lay a claw against you no matter what.

You set off something animalistic in him. Something pure rage and fury never managed to achieve. It was that natural urge to protect, to ensare the world and hand it to you like any other gift. To keep you by him always, and to spoil you completely.

If you had your back turned to him, he would pull you up to his hard chest. At that point you would be encased by him almost entirely. His tail like a barricade by your legs. A large arm arched above your head. His other hand would be over you, or simply resting on your stomach in a way to keep you close. He'd hum or grumble or let out a small growl of content at the fact he turned himself into your armour in such a way that you could rest safely - talk safely - simply exist safely in his presence.

If Bowser was to be honest, that was his favourite way of cuddling. Holding you so close, so protectively. Holding you in a way that if something were to happen, he would be ready, and nothing - nobody - would dare lay a finger on you.

When he does lie on his stomach in bed, he makes sure to prop his head with the forearm furthest from you. It allows him to tilt his head enough to watch as you adjust yourself next to him. It gives his body enough of an angle to give you his sworn attention, and enough space to move his other arm.

In those moments, he ever so carefully cups your cheek, at least as much as he can given his much larger hands when compared to your head. Usually it's just a single clawed finger brushing against the side of your face. That, or he holds your hands in the palms of his own or even pulls you that much closer.

You are like a treasure to him, able to calm him down. He'd make sure you are comfortable, tucked in if you wished to sleep with a blanket or duvet. He'd spend hours just simple watching you, observing and memorising the way you breathe. Whenever his thoughts stray, he'd always pull them back onto you. A breath in and a smoky exhale out.

Laying on his stomach also allows for him to push himself upwards and spring to his feet the quickest if anything was to ever happen. Always ready for action and always ready to defend and fight for you.

Outside of sleep, if he just wished to simply cuddle when awake, though he would never verbally admit it, he would do so on his back. There is a sense of jovial humour in it. He'd wordlessly set you on his stomach, looking up at you with fiery eyes. His head would be propped against a set of layered pillows, angled up so even if he relaxed he would still be looking at you.

Though it's not much of a cuddle, he would keep you there. He would adore hearing your talk, or watch you sign, humming gruffly in that animalistic way to show you he was listening. In reality, no matter how much he wanted to focus on your story, whatever words you were discussing or rambling about, it would all be going through one ear and out through the other.

He would simply be keeping you there to watch you, teeth bared in a comfortable smile. Simply hearing and seeing you, and feeling your body weight on him. Knowing that you were there for him and that you chose him.

He'd also love sitting in bed with you, legs joined creating an uneven circle of pillows and blankets between them where he would place you. His huge form would sit there, head arched down and looking at you from above. If he simply wanted to know you were there physically, he would pull you into his chest, large hands on your body in a secure and safe manner. However, he understands that humans have boundaries, and he would always leave room for you to shake him off.

And if he didn't, he'd let you go instantly if he ever felt you struggle in discomfort. Learning his lesson from numerous times before that keeping you, or anyone else for that matter, against their will to benefit him alone leads to quite unfavourable relations.

In general, he absolutely adores keeping you safe - keeping you close and in his arms. He finds comfort in knowing you are so much smaller than his hulking form, and that he alone can keep you safe, even though he'd also continuously worry for how weak such a fleshy exterior is.

The thought that he can envelop you in his arms, or pick you up with ease and comfort makes Bowser humorously happy, though once again he would never admit it other than through a monstrous snort.

And here's some extra bits too:

Blankets? He doesn't use those. After all, a creature that can breathe fire can sustain its own heat. He knows that you cannot, and will always keep blankets close to his bed for whenever you choose to lie next to him. If you need something heavier, he has a duvet folded on a nearby chair he specifically requested for you. Made from a fabric that he knows you like.

Because of the shell, and more notably the large spikes on it, Bowser will never let himself be the little spoon. Never. Not only out of fear that he would hurt you or crush you, but the fact that when the two of your are sleeping - at that moment when you two are the most vulnerable - he cannot see you. He cannot keep and eye on you and he hates that. Now that he has you, he wants to make sure that you are safe. Always.
