There's basically 2 artists that I follow, and whenver I need inspiration I dig through to try and find something to mimic and recreate with what I am capable of.

This image is how I found one of them and it's the one image I always come back to them for. And with the most recent render with tree's and geometry nodes, I felt like I had a shot of making something close.

I found some tricks and ideas for the cel shader for zelda, which I showed off in a previous post. It's just a lot of thresholds for the light to follow. I did touch it up a lot from where I found it. The shader can now support multiple light sources (I tried adding colored light support but that was getting weird artifacting) and is much more seemless with moving lights around.

The grass was one big geometry node. I build out a ton of blades and then deform them in a direction to try and get a good looking lean on them. That with a low-ish f-stop to blur them out with depth of field really helps out.

I finally dug around and found a good cloud shader start. I tweeked it around and had something that I deemed usable for this (people who publish shaders really dont simplify their code and there's a lot of mathematical steps they dont need). I did have to render it separately, clouds really like being raytraced and the cel shading requires blender EEVEE which doesn't really support it as good as I want it. This also meant I could do some post processing on the clouds to try and make the style match the rest of the scene.

There's a good chance I deal with more BOTW shaders next. There's still a whole lot that I want to do with the art style but I need to remake a lot to fit the style alongside it. Any ideas on what to make next is always appreciated.

And as always if you want the file/parts I'm willing to send them over and help you out.
