馃摢 #bookmailisthebestmail There is nothing like the feeling of opening a package that you KNOW contains a book you've been excited about for a long while. I was introduced to Josie Silver's writing via the #bookofthemonthclub. I fell in love with her book, One Day in December, to the point that I own multiple print copies, a Kindle version, and an Audible copy. When I read the synopsis for this story, I just knew it was something I had to read. To say I was thrilled to see it as a featured March selection is an understatement! I also pre-ordered the Audible version. Now I just need the family to go to sleep so I can binge this book. After all, Saturdays are for sleeping in! 馃槈 . . . . #books #bookstagram #bookofthemonth #josiesilver #thetwolivesoflydiabird #ballantinebooks #penguinrandomhouse #reader #readwhatmakesyouhappy #mimireads2020 #mimireadsromance #bookish #booklife #booklove #botmshelf #fiction #hardcoverbooks #mimistbr #mimiskeepercollection #mimireads馃摎 https://www.instagram.com/p/B9aV7MTnmZw/?igshid=1q29hdp5uitud

I was sitting in Cafe Nero today reading Maze Runner (our BotM) and the barista got super excited about it so I'm passing my copy on to him afterwards!

Did you figure out the solution before it was revealed in the story?
Book of the Month August 2015 - Question 6.
Brin- Honestly I didn't, and I was frustrated no end by it because it was retrospectively so clear! I think the fact it escaped my notice just proves how clever the book is. I adored the ending!
Laura - I also had no idea of the solution. I think that I must have been a bit brainwashed because I was beginning to think the Nollop sentence was perfect. But then I am pretty rubbish at puzzles I was just glad they got the solution in the end.聽

Book of the Month Question 3: How did you find the pacing of the novel?
聽Laura: I found initially it was slow to start but the more the letters dropped the more frantic it became. I actually finished reading the whole book in less than two hours because I felt like I was racing the letters!!!
Brin: Much the same as Laura. Slow start but when the third letter fell it was like someone had hit the gas and we were flying down the literary road at breakneck speed. I really loved the pacing of the book, even the slow start. It was my favourite aspect of the story as a whole. It was exactly the right length.

Book of the Month August 2015 - Question 1; Was there any point in the novel that you found the use of language difficult to take?
Brin: In the last few letters, absolutely! I found myself having to speak the words outloud to understand what was being said because of course as more letters disappear more words become spelt phonetically. I was on a crowded train when I read it though which made it pretty embarrassing!
Laura: I actually found the flowery prose at the beginning of the novel harder to grasp. It seemed super old fashioned, in keeping with the feel of Nollop, but it was a bit of a shock because I wasn鈥檛 expecting it. I also found the dry language of the council edicts quite difficult. More so as the letters were removed.
