Listen I am a faithful person. Zayne will likely forever be my favorite unless he does something completely unforgivable (I am a a03 reader, my standards for that are HIGH) but also ik myself very well. If they ever put a long hair male lead into this game I might crumble like a wet blanket 😭.

Something that I've noticed ever since the Smiling Critters were introduced is that they can so easily be paired off into complementary duos, ones that are specifically designed to teach children fundamental lessons about life and self-care from two different angles. It's really interesting to me.
Like obviously you have Dogday and Catnap, with their sun/moon, dog/cat dichotomy, that stress how important it is to have fun and get things done during the day, but also that it's important to wind down, relax, and get a good night's sleep.

Bubba Bubbaphant and Craftycorn were introduced as a duo in the Smiling Critter show's intro, and their dichotomy is quite obvious. They are basically the right and left sides of the brain personified. Bubba is the left side of the brain, logical, analytical, focused on math and science. Craftycorn is the right side of the brain, creative and imaginative, focused on the arts and self-expression. They represent learning and academia in all its forms, the different ways people engage with and understand the world.

Hoppy Hopscotch and Kickin' Chicken form the sportsmanship duo. They are both portrayed as enjoying sports and the outdoors, but in different ways that highlight the different ways sports can be played and enjoyed and also what it entails to be successful at them. Hoppy Hopscotch may be loud and impatient, but she is also a team player, shown in her willingness to slow down her fast pace to make sure none of her friends are left behind. Kickin' Chicken, on the other hand, is laid-back, relaxed, and chill, the described "cool kid" of the group, but he's also described as having a ton of perseverance, more of a "slow and steady wins the race" type of person.

This leaves Bobby Bearhug and Picky Piggy as the last pair. Fittingly, these two are all about how to meet the fundamental needs of yourself and others. Bobby teaches children how to nourish themselves emotionally through showing and receiving care from others, while Picky teaches them how good food is important to nourish the body and soul. Depriving oneself of either of these things only makes oneself and therefore everyone around one miserable, because those fundamental needs are no longer being met.

Like fr, this is some pretty genius marketing right here. You have enough characters that every kid will have their favorite, but not so many that any would get lost in the shuffle, because the lessons each one of them would teach would be integral to the group as a whole. It really makes me that much sadder we saw basically nothing of the Smiling Critters during the game itself, because Mob Games struck gold with this concept, only to ultimately do nothing with it. :/
But I guess that's what fandom is for, eh?

Body swap through time Kakashi and Tobirama at like, ages 12/13ish
Kakashi wakes up as Senju Tobirama at the height of the Uchiha/Senju conflicts
Tobirama wakes up as Kakashi in the lead up to the Kyuubi incident
They're actually alarmingly similar in skill level and personality, so they're able to get away with the switch on a surface level, even to those who know them well. But problems very quickly arise when it comes to fighting or anything that requires knowledge of history
""Tobirama"" taking to the field with a totally different skill set and jutsus than he's ever used before (Izuna is taken so off guard, it gets bad, fast)
""Kakashi"" suddenly does not seem to respond to any ANBU signals or codes, and where as before he was a shoe in for becoming an ANBU captain he suddenly seems to be fucking up at every other opportunity. You'd think the guy WANTS to lose his job with how suddenly awful at it he is, but he's Kakashi. There is no world where that kid fucks anything up on purpose
They're both definatley in a "holy shit I can NOT tell anyone ab this" position— Kakashi would probably be fr killed as an imposter, and while Tobirama would probably be ok (especially since Minato would be in charge of his detainment n stuff) he doesn't know that?? As far as he's aware, he is in enemy territory and will act accordingly.
Kakashi doesn't know how tf to interact with Tajima or Hashirama, but especially Tajima. He probably uses the wrong forms of address for people bc Tobirama uses more old fashioned honorifics than Kakashi is used to (Anija/Chichuie vs Nii-san/Otou-san)
Kakashi refusing to kill Uchiha bc like, village loyalty fuck you. Also just in general he probably has feelings ab killing anyone with a sharingan on multiple levels. But not just not killing them but going out of his way to help— these aren't his Uchiha, yeah, but it definatley fucks him up to see ANY uchiha die when all his life Uchiha = konoha = his people
Oooo, Kakashi instinctivley channeling chakra through Tobirama's eye after a solid couple years of getting used to the sharingan, possibly accidentally doing,,, something there. Idk what tho but SOMETHING
Meanwhile Tobirama is in that stupid fucking village of his brothers (that he will not shut up about, especially at that specific age) and its???? Real??????? It worked?????????? Huh.
He's surrounded by Uchiha and can't find any Senju (Tsunade just left the village rip Tsunade) but if he investigates it looks like the Senju died out naturally? Impossible, it has to be some kind of Uchiha plot—!
Hes also struggling to come to terms with there being a STOLEN SHARINGAN IN HIS FUCKING EYE !!!!!!!! Made extra super fucked up by the difference in intense hatred and taboo of bloodline theft in modern/warring era (with it being even more taboo in the warring states, like THE ultimate evil to any shinobi)
Maybe he, as Kakashi, is supposed to go to like special Uchiha class where they teach him ab the Uchiha n stuff bc of the eye, and Tobirama is sitting there eating all this shit UP (enemy intel!!!) But also, like, lowkey brainwashed kid brought up to do nothing but kill this one specific group of people, literally being forced to at least pretend to embrace their culture. He's in such a unique position to learn from and about them, and it'll probably end with him being some kind of sympathetic.
It helps that in modern Konoha, where the Uchiha may be considered overly traditional/religious, that's actually just Tobirama's normal. So there's also this added layer of "being around the Uchiha feels the closest to home / least strange than being around literally anyone else" which just pisses him off even more tbh
I'm tempted to say that somehow Rin is still alive just so I can have that one specific Rin and Kakashi queerplatonic codependent relationship from my other post, and then Rin being the one to finally notice that Kakashi isn't Kakashi anymore
Both Tobirama and Kakashi kind of piecing together the life stories of each other, immersed in eachothers histories and paths without ever directly interacting even once. Constant wonderings ab what the other boy was like / might do here, and if they're really so similar that no one has noticed the switch and all those implications (bc on one hand, that's good!! But on the other hand uhh— has anyone at home noticed...? Bc if not, fucking ow??? But also like, probably for the best tbh.)

Ghouls on vacation
Totally not inspired by me going to the seaside over the weekend. Not at all.
HEADCANONS UNDER THE CUT, LET'S GO
AETHER
gets everything set up
if there's a Papa nearby, he will make him sit down and rest, no buts
he'll go swimming, but will not put his head under the water. And he'll do at least one dive-bomb to soak any unfortunate soul who is close enough
he'll read crime mistery books while lounging on a deck chair (bonus point if there's a beer in his hand)
he has the Dad™️ fit: flip-flops, swimming trunks (with palm trees or dolphins or pineapples on them), an open hawaian shirt and the sunglasses and baseball cap combo
RAIN
knows how to surf
idk how or when or where he'd learn, but he DOES
also the sun brings out his bioluminescent spots (the biology probably doesn't check out but idc, I headcanon that he has bioluminescent freckles and the sun brings out freckles so)
(in his human glamour), he doesn't tan a lot (I might be projecting but it's *MY* headcanon and *I* get to choose the bitch that will simply not tan 😤)
if possible, he'll unglamour just to dive as deep as he can go
he's the bastard that brings out the pretty rocks and seashells
might also befriend a fish or two while he's at it
he pulls the "my hair is wet so I have to shake the water off OH NO I WAS STANDING TOO CLOSE AND SOMEONE GOT SPRAYED this surely was not on purpouse I would never 🥺👉🏻👈🏻"
PHANTOM
he'd be a bit scared to go in at first, but ultimately would get coaxed into it
he swims by doggy paddling for the better part of his time at the beach. He knows how to swim, that's just more fun to him
builds sandcastles (and honestly slays at it)
hates the feeling of salt in his hair after it dries, so Cumulus brings a water bottle along so he can rinse it out when he gets out of the sea
he gets HUNGRY after a swim
tries to dive along with Rain, but isn't able to go as deep since he's not a water Ghoul. He will, however, make it his job to point out pretty seashells and demand Rain gets them for him
SWISS
an absolute heathen in the water
he'll creep up behind people (mostly Dew or Phantom) and push their head under the water
he steals a bucket from Phantom and uses it to absolutely SOAK Aurora with the water he scoops from the sea
he tans both in human glamour and in actual Ghoul form
also knows how to surf (dude bro energy fr fr)
he'll be a menace and playfully tease and torment everyone but as soon as someone tells him to stop, he'll be on his best behaviour
reminds everyone to drink water (resorted to throwing a bottle at Rain's head one time cuz he would ignore him and refuse to stop swimming. Rain listened immediately)
DEWDROP
hair in a high bun IMMEDIATELY, will NOT let them get wet
unless Swiss pulls him under, but that usually warrants Swiss getting chased up and down the beach for 15 minutes with a fuming (HAH) Dew behind him
he'd bring a sunshade umbrella to stick in the sand (and then not use it cuz he likes to bask in the sun)
he'd also join Phantom in his sandcastle endeavours by digging a moat around the structure
will swim, but only for a little bit, he'd rather make himself sizzle in the sun
he doesn't really tan, but also doesn't get a sunburn (something something fire Ghoul)
Cumulus still manhandles him into putting on sunscreen (as she does with everyone)
MOUNTAIN
THE SUN MAKES HIS FRECKLES SO PROMINENT AND EVERYONE LOOKS AT HIM LIKE 💖👄💖
usually throws his hair into a haphazard bun and leaves it like that for the entire time
he jumps into the water EXCLUSIVELY by diving headfirst
he doesn't mind the salt on his skin after he dries off, he's used to the grime from the greenhouse and the gardens anyways
he tans, and the freckles on his shoulders/back/collarbone get much more visible as well
his cheeks also get a bit pinker from the sun and everyone calls him adorable because of it
will observe the local flora and fauna, he just can't help himself honestly (and he WILL tell Rain all the sea life fun facts he knows)
drinks only water, but occasionally he'll treat himself to a pre-mixed cocktail if Cumulus brings any (she always does)
CUMULUS
mom friend fr
brings an extra tube of sunscreen (both for the body and the face) just in case someone forgets
manhandles EVERYONE into putting it on
also brings some extra towels in case someone gets theirs wet by accident or forgets it completely
she packs snacks and fruit, as well as drinks (the cooler bag carried by Aether, of course)
she likes swimming, and doesn't mind diving or getting her hair wet (her hair gets really curly and fluffy when it's dry and everyone thinks it's the cutest thing ever)
reads romance novels
she steals the sunshade from Dew, he doesn't need it anyways
helps people to brush out their hair if they need it after a swim
the only person who could convince Rain to get out of the water immediately
CIRRUS
Rich Wine Aunt energy and she shows it
black bikini with a black sheer robe over it
big sunglasses and a big ass hat as well
she doesn't really go swimming a lot, she preferes to tan
reads horror novels on the beach
usually drinks a cosmopolitan cocktail while she lounges, sometimes (although rarely) a beer
she keeps her hair down for the added Dramatic Effect
she keeps everyone (or at least the Ghouls not in the water) cool with her air magic (Dew asked her to stop doing that for him cuz he likes burning in the sun)
will not tolerate being bothered in her peace (she will, actually, but she'll be extremely annoyed about it)
SUNSHINE
much like Dew, she loves to bask in the warmth of the sun
her hair gets hella curly and bouncy from the salt water
she has a whole "after tanning" routine so her skin won't get messed up
also she tans quite a lot
uses a tanning jam
likes to nap under the sunshade with Cumulus
she puts on headphones, plays some music aaaaand she's dozing off
the third surfer of the group (YES I'M HAVING "MALIBU RISING" BRAINROT IT'S SUCH A GOOD SUMMER BOOK)
makes necklaces out of the shells Rain picks up (if she manages to convince him to give some up)
star shaped sunglasses
AURORA
helps Phantom build sandcastles
also brings pretty rocks (and steals shells from Rain when he's not there) to decorate them
she LOVES swimming and diving
"her hair turns bright pink in salt water" ~@ligovskaya (okay Barbie mermaid toy moment 💅🏻✨️)
she does her nails on theme (either to do with the sea, the beach, fish, so on and so forth)
is in the process of learning how to surf and is being taught by Sunshine
she likes to listen to music but like on an ipod shuffle with wired headphones
has heart shaped sunglasses (got them from Sunshine cuz she decided that she's adopting Aurora as a sister, therefore they have to match)
she has the cutest, frilliest pink bathing suit (she's a pink girlie to me)
uses a tanning jam as well, but mostly because it smells nice
okay, this is it for now, I will gladly do other Ghouls or Papas if you guys want, you can pop into my ask box as well :3

Okay since we’re sharing our DILF experiences let me join the girlie circle. Please don’t judge me on the first sentence of my experience because it’s not as bad as it first sounds 😭
I
I … I slept with my ex boyfriend’s dad … THIS WAS FOUR YEARS AFTER MY AND I BROKE UP AND HIS DAD AND MOTHER DIVORCED WHEN HE WAS A CHILD AND HIS DAD AND I WERE BOTH SINGLE AT THE TIME PLEASE I’M NOT A TERRIBLE PERSON 😭 Plus I was 24 at the time and he was 49, this was in February
When I first met the DILF back when I was with my ex I had thought he was handsome in an innocent little ‘oh so that’s where my (then) boyfriend gets his looks from ☺️’
I broke up with my ex a couple months during the first covid lockdown and four years later I was at a bar and the DILF was there too and we remembered each other and shit he’s really handsome and we ended up sitting sides pressed against each other his face so close to mine it was a mutual leaning into kiss each other, I couldn’t stop myself 😩 I know it was so wrong like that’s my ex boyfriend’s dad but in that moment I was doing it for the plot okayyyy like hey he’s a handsome single man and I was a single woman so yeah I continued to make out with him
Then I let him take me to his place and I went 48 hours without wearing any clothes literally he took me to his place Friday night and I spent the entire weekend up until Sunday night in his bed / sofa / kitchen counter and only put my bra and dress back on the Sunday night I headed back home (he ripped up my panties so I never saw them again, really hot but kinda sad because they were really pretty panties 🥺). Best 48 hours of my life omfg I don’t regret it 😩 I know it’s sounds awful like my ex’s dad but we were both single and he had me seeing stars and CRYING from how motherfucking goooood he did me, I yeah …..
I have never ever everrrrr told anyone this because I know how terrible it sounds, I haven’t even shared it with my best friend, this is the secret I’m taking to my grave (we all have that one thing we’ll never tell another soul) but it feels nice to share it in some form as a kinda get it off my chest thing
Okay girlies this is fun sharing our spicy personal stories hehe it’s like we’re at a sleepover 🩷
girl why are you feeling guilty?! it was four years after your ex and you broke up, this is completely fine LOOOL
but also not you living your ultimate y/n lifee OMFG I am so jealous fr😭😭
Not you arriving on Friday night and not leaving till Sunday night 😱😭 NOT PUTTING YOUR CLOTHES ON TILL SUNDAY NIGHT AJHHHHDJDJSJSJSDJ girl this man made you see stars omfg YASSSS
And I totally get doing things for the plot and this is like the juiciest plot everrrrrr omfg I love this for you!!!

Okay guys, I actually managed to have a civil discussion with someone on Arcane twt who disagreed with me! Everybody cheer😭😂🤭
But fr tho, I admit that I did quote twt that person in bad faith. A friend of mine made a joke about how Caitlyn wouldn’t have missed(iykyk) and this person’s response rubbed me the wrong way. Think something to the effect of “violence is never okay. Shame on you for joking about this.” So, I saw his response to my friend’s tweet and decided to ask him who he thought the “true villain” of Arcane was. I had a feeling what his answer would be.
He said Silco was the main antagonist (fair enough) but then, ofc, he started talking about how, ultimately, “both sides” were at fault for all that’s happening in the show. Now I know that one’s opinions on the media they consume aren’t necessarily a 1 to 1 with their real life politics, but for the sake of the argument, I’ll ask: what’s this obsession that we, as a collective, have with making things more complicated than they should be?
A lot of times, situations really are messy and complicated. But in this instance, I don’t think that’s the case. I don’t think the situation between Piltover and Zaun is complicated at all. I see an oppressor (Piltover) being responsible for the centuries long disenfranchisement of the oppressed (Zaun). Then here comes Jinx, who has been victimized by Piltover for her entire life, becoming radicalized against them, and being violent towards them.
The idea that “violence is bad; full stop” is very dangerous. Violence against an entire group being conflated with violence on an individual level is not good. For example, let’s talk about stealing for a second. Is a poor, starving person stealing from a store that upcharges on necessities “wrong”? In my opinion, no. Is a corporation stealing wages(which is actually the most common form of theft) “wrong”? Absolutely! Now, if you wanna be technical, both examples are “in the wrong”. However, let’s be real here: one of these things is a hell of a whole lot more “wrong” than the other.
But to bring it back to Arcane, why is this idea that “the situation is so complicated, there are no good sides” so popular? There absolutely are! Violence against an oppressor is not a bad thing! I, a marginalized individual, am not anywhere close to being “just as bad” as the mfers responsible for my oppression!!! Why do so many of us feel that way? That doesn’t even make any sense! Stop feeling bad for people who don’t give nary a fuck, nor a shit, nor a good goddamn about you AT BEST! And at worst? They will GLEEFULLY partake in destroying your community!!!
I know the show is ultimately centrist asf(and therein lies the problem) but still!
Anyways, I say all that to say, it’s fine to disagree with people, cause I was able to have a nice discussion with this person, despite vehemently disagreeing with them. But like, I really wanna know WHY these people think the way they do. How could the situation between Piltover and Zaun be thought of as anything but chickens coming home to roost? If you’ve been paying even the slightest little bit of attention to the world we’re living in, and everything that’s going on rn, how could you not apply those same principles to the show?
#arcane#arcane discussion#my two cents#my thoughts#we all know that an oppressed vs oppressor struggle can’t be complicated right#it doesn’t get any simpler than that I fear#let’s be real#stop having sympathy for the powers that be

I gotta know your thoughts what do you think a nortalice vampire au would be like?
Lemme cook ya something YUMMY MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAH okay here goes 🤞hopefully its yummy lol
I love that Norton has a Vampy skin so -throws him back in that skin for this- lool
finds the key ingredients: -tragedy ((((all made to look like his parent's death and his almost death look like an accident and probably forcefully turned by dumbass Benny who was promising a better life -screams into a pillow- this round it being Norton who brought Benny into the life of his family (cause of the promises of better lives) which then ultimately ruined the family. something nice and heavy and awful to blame himself for) ((will there be an au where Benny isn't bad? dunno LOL maybe one of these days BUT NOT THIS DAY )))) ✅ -sealed away (after everyone realizes he can't be controlled and tried to blow it all and himself up), so he has that claustrophobia and fear of complete darkness ✅ -is starved from being sealed away for so long ✅ -Grumpy, jaded, and angry with a 1000 yard stare ✅ -only talked to the spooky green eye before he was sealed away (is also the only one who could talk to the spooky green eye) ✅ -When he is accidentally let out, he has abilities that wake up within him and now has access to what Fool's Gold can do. But super out of control until he gets that hunger under control first ✅ -instead of a bat form he has his Fool's Gold like form ✅ -sprinkles a little Case of Vanitas in there with- able to see some memories of those he takes blood from. Likely how he sneaks a peek at flashes of Alice's past after stealing some of her blood in a vial. So he sees those memories when he is alone. -I am also getting a sense that he doesn't like drinking blood from the source. He likes to drain it collect it in containers and drink it later so he doesn't feel as disgusting or disgusted. He seems like a guy who collects and saves rather than takes and wastes.
Now as for who let him out, -points- Orpheus LOL
Orpheus likely makes a deal with him, 'meh I need people killed and you need blood sooooooo, what do you say?' and boiii does Orpheus deliver 🙃 BUT when Alice arrives in place of another, things get tricky. Cause now Norton has different instructions for this one. To mess with her so Orpheus can swoop in and be a hero and friend to get her to join him again like in childhood. Norton doesn't EFFIN CARE 🤣 and is just expecting to be given extra blood in place of what he is loosing in letting Alice stick around longer, but he ends up caring which is alarming to Orpheus. A vampire getting his dead heart to care again rarely turns out well for those in the blood business/deal with them pff. And I bet there was more to the deal, that its a bit more binding than anticipated so this could cause some huge problems.
I am sure Alice will figure it out lol 🤣👏👏👏
but before that I am sure there are some scenes like:
-Norton with Alice and placing his hand in line with the sun to show that it does hurt and he does this to feel something, er rather, a different sort of pain than the constant gnawing sort that plagues him 24/7 Then making a dry joke about how he is afraid of the dark yet stuck in it.
-Alice finding out that Norton is haunted by the people he successfully blew up, haunted by the innocent and the guilty but it all feels the same. Then finding the spooky green eye and wondering whatever that is and what is it doing. She can sort of hear its whisperings but not like Norton can. The fact that she can kind of hear anything from it at all is impressive in its own right lol
-Both Alice and Norton feeling gentle touch for the first time in ages (this goes for og Norton and Alice also honestly -cries-)
-Also Benny gonna return fr fr so that won't go well cause I have him mondo baddie in this lol
Its all very interesting veerryy interesting lol

🌈🌍🐉 for Carmen and Ismene?
Oh man. Big night for women with issues!!!! I went through a full spectrum of emotions answering these, thank you
[prompt]
🌈 - Do you associate any colors with them?
Oh for sure. On both counts, haha. I feel like this is a thing for most of my OCs- at least, it’s a major point of trying to like. Visualize a design for them when drawing. At any rate.
Carmen has always been strongly associated with red to me. It’s a very vibrant, strong color, and it’s also a very heroic and regal one. Maybe it’s just the kinds of books I read as a kid, but when I think of kings and knights, I think of crimson and scarlet and all that jazz. She’s proud, principled, and aspires to be a paragon of what she considers virtue. I’ve also always portrayed her with a rose as an emblem- a romantic symbol. Of course, the obvious flip side of that is that there’s a lot of negative association with red as well- fire and blood are the obvious ones here. She’s not fiery in the sense of raging passion or blistering anger per se, but more like… a destructive flame that would burn everything to ashes, maybe. Someone with burning ideals and zealotry so hot that it’s searing her too. Of course, the less fanciful aspect of the red is that it’s a color that was also associated with the chivalric order she was a part of in tabletop (also an anchor point of the rose). Carmen’s kind of a funny character for color though. She’s been around in some form or other for ten years or more at this point, and she’s always had the red association. It’s something that’s kind of transformed over time.
Ismene is an easy purple. And one day I swear to fucking god I will manage to color some of my art of her. Although I guess it wouldn’t be posted here so uhh maybe it doesn’t matter. Anyway. Purple. Regal and mystical. That’s the kind of vibe that I always want her to give off as a first impression, so purple is an obvious choice. I think there’s also something to purple being a kind of cool, somber color- she’s become a more mischievous character than originally planned, but I think it’s right for her to have a certain self-serious gravitas. This is a bit of an open and shut one I don’t have much more to say ^^;;
🌍 - What are this oc’s religious views?
Oh good god.
Carmen’s religious views are Very Different in Wrath from her original tabletop iteration (where her schtick is generally kind of inverted from part of Wrath), so I’m going to preface this by saying I’m answering for the Wrath iteration of the character. Carmen is a dogmatic atheist. You know the goofy edgelord atheist dialogue in this game? Honestly totally on point for her. She doesn’t believe that people should rely on the gods, and she believes that gods are ultimately all self-serving and tend to use mortals as proxies for their conflicts and the most extreme expressions of existence. The affairs of mortals should belong entirely to mortals. She’s not a person who sees the good gods as fundamentally better than the evil. In the end, they’re still imposing the same manipulative systems on their followers. They still inspire violent, irrational conflict. And they don’t “inspire” their followers. They breed helplessness. They make people reliant, cause them to wait and pray for salvation instead of searching for it themselves. The gods are cowards and parasites. And one day, it would be nice to see them torn down from their thrones.
I had to look up/double check FR lore for this one, which was half the time spent on this whole thing if I’m being real with you. Anyway. Ismene’s upbringing obviously meant a lot of exposure to gods of knowledge, and she tends to regard these deities with a reasonable level of respect. Knowledge, to her, is the highest power; those who reign over it are the highest Powers. She identified particularly strongly with Savras, Alaundo’s patron, from a precocious age- one of a number of ways she has taken aspects of the life of the one true prophet for herself. This seemed like a bit of childish fancy when she was young, but the release of Savras during the Time of Troubles gave it more gravity- another uncanny bit of foresight from the girl. For her, it seemed a sign in and of itself- thought not a person of deep devotion, she quietly claimed the returned god as her patron, developing a personal belief that her prophetic abilities had been an omen of his return and deepening her sense that she was personally connected to Alaundo. In the years between the Time of Troubles and the revelation of her Bhaalspawn heritage Ismene developed a conviction that she had a destiny to take up Alaundo’s mantle as a true prophet of Savras in the new age. Her personal dedication to the god is partially responsible for her aversion to outright lying- to speak untruth is anathema to the All-Seeing, though she never quite internalized his dedication to wholly avoiding misdirection and deceit. The revelation of her divine blood shook her faith deeply- in some form or other, her abilities originate in truth from Bhaal. Of course, with pride and precocious self-importance as the origins of her devotion to the Lord of Divination, she’s certainly able to adapt to the idea of being a demigod given time. I don’t want to say more when I have yet to y’know. Finish the original Bhaalspawn Saga. But I certainly have an idea of the trajectory of a hubristic young wizard who gets to live with the smug satisfaction that she can outfox a god.
🐉 - Very serious question… are they more like a dragon, or a unicorn?
Carmen is an easy dragon. It’s the fire thing. And the knight thing. What’s the opposite of a noble knight? That’s right, a dragon. And also being very cool despite objectively killing a lot of people, which isn’t so awesome.
Ismene is like a unicorn because she’s just so goddamn special. I wrote that sentence as filler for later but you know what? I’m right. What else needs to be said, really. And also it’s the princess-y thing. The maiden-y thing. The magic-y thing. Like. Y’know.
#somehow I have a penchant for making female characters who are pretty sure they could fight a god and win.#hot?#I'm allowed to call some of Wrath's atheist dialogue silly because I'm an atheist and I was once fifteen#I'm not even saying this as a criticism I remember some of it being really fucking funny. I miss having my screenshots...#anyway this solidified some ismene lore that had been brewing for a while by forcing me to look at the way some things fit together#I'd already had 'savras follower?' and 'sees self as uniquely connected to alaundo' down as loose ideas#and I could kind of see. how that might be coming together.#and here it is. the logical conclusion. local teenager thinks that she really is the second alaundo.#it really kills me that gorion's ward is so young#ask game#carmen regis#ismene#lizrich#I'm going to go lay facedown on the floor.

So essentially “Superman’s Nanny: Louisa Long” is a rather random DC Comics AU story that centers around a normally unremarkable & somewhat odd 32-year old Chinese American woman whose currently living in Metropolis (but was actually born & raised in Hong Kong) as she soon gets a rather strange job opportunity to become the “official” babysitter to Superman’s infant son Jonathan Kent after a particularly embarrassing first meeting with the two of them (mainly involving a particularly precious & precocious baby Jon Kent using his own X-Ray vision for the first time to see her hot pink panties) while on her way to a potential job interview around downtown Metropolis one fateful morning as super-heroic hilarity ensues!! Not to mention that Louisa herself was given some specialized “1 Hour Kryptonian Vitamins” by Superman himself in order for her to best handle Superman’s own baby son Jon Kent as his own personal stay-in nanny with some much-needed superpowers of her own!!
Plus, I could definitely see this particular character becoming a rather interesting new addition to the Superman Family as she’s now tasked with both raising & protecting a baby Jon Kent as she slowly grows more involved with the superhero community of the DC Universe through her connections with the Superman Family themselves.
~ (Fun Fact: Louisa Long’s own personal superhero costume is essentially just a XXXL Superman jersey & some hyper elastic sports panties that’s a skimpier updated version of Superman’s New 52 costume)
So overall, I was just thinking that Louisa Long’s massive physique is constantly growing & expanding with every dose of her Kryptonian Vitamins, so it only makes logical sense that she has to have a costume that rapidly grows with her!!
Not to mention that I was also just thinking about having them being made from a specialized Kryptonian metal weave fabric that would ultimately stretch and grow alongside her ever-expanding body.
Plus, I was also just thinking about having her get her own personal mentor character in the form of the highly obscure Superman character of Letitia Lerner when it comes to being the official nanny/babysitter for the Superman Family!!
Meanwhile Louisa Long’s own personal “1 Hour Kryptonian Vitamins” are accidentally making her body rapidly grow & expand on the daily basis with several thick layers of super durable subcutaneous body fat & muscle that essentially makes her have a rather gigantic plus-sized superhuman sumo-like physique as a unforeseen side effect of the highly advanced alien vitamins themselves as she continuously grows & hulks out into a super tall, strong burly giantess by the day as a result.
But when it comes to her eventual superhero name within the Superman Family itself, she's initially nicknamed “Super Nanny” after eyewitnesses reported her helping one baby Jon Kent who was in trouble. Then she's named “Super Auntie” by Jon and the rest of the Super Family & Close Friends.
Plus, sometime later on, she'll later become the “Superwoman of Hong Kong” or just simply “Supergiant” when she finally starts developing her own mythos outside of the immediate Kent Family!! Another awesome idea I just have is maybe we could even have it where she’s also the actual maternal aunt of The Super-Man of China as well!!
With her actual younger sister being revealed to be the enigmatic, stern, stoic & fiercely patriotic Doctor Omen as well (a.k.a. Super-Man/Kong Kenan’s estranged government mad scientist Mother)!!
Because I could definitely see Doctor Omen & the newly christened Superwoman of Hong Kong getting into a knockdown drag-out fight between the two of them, especially if Dr. Omen figures out the actual source of Louisa's powers and attempted to create an equivalent for herself.
Plus, I also imagine that Kong Kenan would probably look at Louisa as a proper maternal mother figure in his life rather than his actual birth mother at this point (in a very similar situation to Zuko & Iroh’s relationship from Avatar).
(Especially since Doctor Omen is more interested in maintaining law & order within the PRC & building her own Justice League like team to finally beat the so called “capitalist imperial superheroes” of The West). Meanwhile her older sister Louisa Long is just busy living her best life & saving lives in America with the greater Superman Family as both a super kind, loving & caring superhero nanny, mother & auntie while she also actively supports the independence movement of her old home of Hong Kong as the tiny nation’s premier superhero as well!!
But as a newly transformed “Pseudo-Kryptonian”, Louisa Long would probably have the same amount of superpowers as Golden Age Superman (just without the specific weaknesses to both Kryptonite & Red Solar Energy) as she’ll also gain some extra power from solar rays as well (which she does by sunbathing 3 times a day nowadays) as well as still having the weakness against magic alongside with regularly having to deal with her own personal 1 hour time limit respectively!!
~ (List of Louisa Long’s Main Powers & Abilities via 1 Hour Kryptonian Vitamins):
• Superhuman Strength
• Superhuman Speed
• Superhuman Senses
• Superhuman Stamina
• Superhuman Leaping
• Superhuman Durability
• Superhuman Agility/Reflexes
• Microscopic/Telescopic Vision
• Size Magnification
• Nigh-Invulnerability
• Skilled Martial Artist
• Heat Vision & Ice Breath
• X-Ray/Infrared Vision
Plus, she’ll probably start wearing less clothes in general to keep herself energized & sexy while also getting a awesome new semipermanent tan all over her body as, I'm just imagining her making up some stupid excuse in order to "Maximize my body’s daily sun intake and exposure" as she just sneakily finding new places around Metropolis where she can Sunbathe Butt Ass Naked.
Not to mention that I think the Superman Family themselves would find her quite the fun person to be around, as a regular…Flash/Wally West-type , as she’s just very upfront & courteous to everyone & tries to see the best in them as she ultimately serves as …”The Mom Friend” of The Superman Family, even if she’s not “technically” a mother herself but she exudes and acts upon energy befitting of a mother helping her young kids.
Also she pretty much reminds me of a female Soos from Gravity Falls (but generally more mature & moderately more book smart) as she just loves helping out young kids in need like a massive big kid herself (since I imagine that she mostly likely worked at a daycare back when she was living in Hong Kong) while also being rather awkward when it comes to normal social interactions with people around her age since she might be more intimidated by all of the “big names” of the superhero community like Batman, Superman & Wonder Woman. But yeah, I kind of figured that she would probably be a very fun-loving, laid-back & easygoing character overall even though she can be a bit of a ditzy aloof oddball at times!!
~ (Fun Fact: Louisa Long’s actual physical age is somewhere around her early to mid 30’s as I’m not really sure on what age she should be specifically yet?)

see i’m above the law bc my superior mindset (which realistically i’m sure is not uncommon) is that while davekat are the endgame couple, johndave are the beginning. they’re the foundation of it all.
(there is hella ramble under this cut man. i’m getting emotional about pixelated boys again.)
so as we all know, we start the webcomic with dave already having a crush on john. maybe he doesn’t even know it yet, maybe he does, but ultimately john is dave’s first real life gay crush and dave is john’s too but his takes a while to form. yknow i hear a boat with only ur sister and nicholas cage for three years is a great way to end up pondering the homoerotic undertones of ur closest friendship.
i don’t know if they even actually date, i can see them being just like an unlabelled kinda experimental thing, hidden away in a corner on the meteor somewhere having this vulnerable moment together of soft touches and racing heartbeats and just getting to explore themselves and their feelings in the safety and security of each other, and they don’t really know what they are they’re just them, this is just how it was meant to be with them. it’s awkward and vulnerable and stupid and soft and dorky, but eventually just very natural and normal. still mostly behind closed doors but it’s not like no one can tell there’s something there lmao.
and eventually they decide they just wanna be friends again and there’s some grief and heartbreak but when they come out the other side of that they’re closer than ever. they’re more like moirails in my eyes but they don’t call it that bc be fr both of them would rather die than let karkat win. by this point everyone knows, no one cares ofc they’re in fucking space with grey aliens who has time for homophobia. probably eridan but he actually probably is the only one who doesn’t know. i can’t see him caring enough about them to notice.
then ofc when dave realises his feelings for karkat john is his shoulder to lean on dealing with that, and when john starts thinking about june dave wouldn’t breathe a word of it to anyone until she’s ready.
#waxing fucking slam poetic over here#it might be my extensive experience covering up gay crushes but i’m getting major covering up a gay crush vibes from 13 y/o dave#yes i am deliberately skirting around jade#i love her dearly i really do but my deep dark secret is that i hate davejade more than almost any other ship#excluding the incest ones bc those have permanent top rank#on my list of most hated ships that is#that was poorly worded. i dislike the incest to be perfectly clear#even more than how much i dislike davejade. but not tooooo much more.#they really are just so sister and brother like ewwww yknow even if they’re not actually related like they’re Siblings#i haven’t finished the epilogues i know some shit happens between them n like. i’ll accept it happened but i’ll be mega grossed reading it#like they feel so related in my brain like that’s incest homie gross bro#i’ve never seen the chemistry#not in a romantic sense

Genuinely impressed by how realistic Barbie and Her Sisters in a Pony Tale (God that's an unnecessarily long title) is when it comes to horse etiquette, especially when it comes to Stacie
I rode for a good couple of years, so this is probably the first hobby~ movie I've seen from Barbie so far where I actually like,,, know a thing or two about the main subject (pretty much all of the others before it are ballet ones I think, and I never got very far when it came to my dancing lessons lol)
It's really cool watching Stacie fumble her mounting, brushing, and riding (mostly due to poor communication with her horse) and being able to actually SEE what she's doing wrong rather than just being told by the story she is, like! Sure, it's all pretty basic stuff, but it's also clear because of it that the people working on this movie were passionate enough about it to learn how to portray all of that in such a clear way, and that makes it really fun to watch!
Stacie getting up on her horse again after a bad, scary fall is a relatively minor plot-point, but it's still one I personally appreciated a lot- falling from a beast that can crush you in a second is REALLY scary, and getting back up again isn't to be taken for granted! She's shown to be really scared and a bit traumatized by the jump that she fell during, and I like that! It's more than understandable, and I admire her for giving it another shot and learning how to make it work together with her horse! It can be very easy to start to resent your horse after something like that, and she definitely starts off down that route where fear is about to get the better of her, so I'm genuinely happy for her that Barbie helped her past that hurdle. Your first big fall is the scariest and it can very easily cause people to quit altogether, but it's definitely a fear that can be conquered and overcome! I had a real big fall pretty early after I started riding, and it's to date probably one of the most surreal experiences I've ever had in my life, but I had the instructors and other kids there with me in the aftermath, so I got back on and kept riding for years after that! And I still for sure fell again after that, and eventually I did stop riding because for some reason I became scared over time, which honestly, is probably had a lot to do with the fact that I didn't have my own horse and had to switch horses a lot, and it's exhausting when you're constantly having to learn how to handle a new horse... And also that one horse I was paired with for A WHILE that was honestly probably way too small for me because I kept falling forward on her mane (which was highly unpleasant for both of us). Like, fr, horseriding truly is a rich person sport lol, it's so much easier when you just have your own horse that you can form a proper connection with!!! Anywayyy
I love that you can really feel both the stable camaraderie AND the underlying animosity born out of jealousy that, in my experience, at least, was a staple of my horseriding days, like! Everyone is there to have a good time with horses, but at the same time there's a lot of envy towards "the good riders", the ones who participate in all the competitions and are treated a bit like celebrities (and sometimes act like ones because of it), like!! Yeah this Barbie movie 100% nailed the vibe it was going for!! Financial troubles? Horses running away? Those are the sort of things that make everyone band together because ultimately, most everyone just wants these horses to be as safe and comfortable as possible!
I was also really scared they were going to make Etienne the villain so I'm glad he wasn't, even though his fat, scheming, ALSO french brother being the villain is not a much better look, but like... Good for Etienne, I like him, he seems like a good coach who has to deal with a lot of shit and takes it all with grace because he loves his job! I was really happy with the way they showed that Philippe was the outlier in terms of poor sportsmanship and desire to just profit off of horses, and that even his coworkers and family disapprove of his behavior. Like! You can win all the races, but that won't matter to anyone if you're also a nasty person to be around... Those kinds of people are very much still present in the horseriding circuits, but they suck and that kind of behavior is really not acceptable
This movie just?? Really brought me back to those days in the best way possible, it's so much fun and genuinely a good film, and like! For something with that kind of name I was expecting it to be either really boring or really lame (Perfect Christmas is the perfect example, god that one sucked), so it was a really nice treat for it to be especially good! All the sisters got their own neat plots that worked well too, I feel like I was about equally invested in all of them which was great! God, please let the other Barbie&co films be just as good!!

"The Holy Scriptures are not a single entity with a single, verifiable form existing unchanging through the centuries. The Holy Scriptures are themselves a tradition. As such, there is no coherent way to separate the tradition of the Scriptures from the rest of Holy Tradition; to separate the “textual” element of the life of the Spirit from the rest of the Spirit’s life and work in the historical community of Christ. This understanding of Scripture within the Church is not a lower view of Scripture than that held by conservative Protestant scholars. If anything, it is the opposite. It is to cease to approach the Scriptures with a grammatical, historical, critical, ultimately archaeological method as an ancient relic. It is to begin again to approach the Scriptures as a living text which participates in the life of the Holy Spirit within the Church and the world, both the same and always new in every generation."
Fr. Stephen DeYoung, "The Imaginary Original Text" on The Whole Counsel of God
Far-right Christians really do the Bible a disservice by treating it as a book God dictated and had wrote down for him. It's a living document, ever evolving just as Christianity has. It's an imperfect work written by imperfect people talking about the perfect God within the context of their time and culture. I really want to make a project out of rereading my Bible and reading it that way.
#to be clear i don't the bible is an erroneous book#but i reject evangelical notions of inerrancy and modernist literalism#christianity#orthodox#theology#bible

Thanks for the correction, it does clarify a lot!
Okay I’m caught up on the readings you sent me and I’m ready to engage. I’m not really one for arguments so this isn’t a debate, just a friendly conversation! And I do appreciate your time cause I love your blog very much :)
There’s a lot I can say about this general topic but I will focus on 1) the free will defense of hell and 2) scriptural support for purgatorial universalism
For the free will defense of hell, I will start by saying that this was my view before I became a universalist. I have all the respect for this view because it’s really the only way it can be possible to have both an eternal hell and a God who is Love that desires salvation for all.
As you said the article you linked does have a paragraph about the free will defense, but I think it is better dissected in this article that considers ontology in its argument as well.
I’m vaguely recalling something I reblogged before, not sure who the original author was… but the gist that I’m recalling is the (mostly poetic) idea of the author that the crucifixion was when humanity rejected God, and the resurrection was God overturning our rejection. As Fr. Josiah Trenham shared in one of his reflections, in line with (my limited understanding of) Orthodox Tradition, the moment Christ died, the moment Life entered into Death, Death was abolished. As light fills a room when we flick a switch, the Light overcame the Dark in an instant. So I would be tempted to speculate that the resurrection itself, while it is the beating heart of my faith, was not strictly necessary for the abolishing work of Christ. I hope I’m not entering heresy territory with that one, but hopefully you see what I mean at least in a poetic sense of the resurrection being a rejection of our killing God, and the challenges that poses to a free will defense of damnation.
As for scriptural support for purgatorial universalism, I don’t think I can share anything you don’t already know, as you are clearly a very bright student of the faith. I hold close to the Orthodox view of “hell” as still the experience of the Uncreated Light, the Glory of God, and not any kind of separation from God. I think that is all we need to affirm to know that “hell” must be good. Scripturally, I think allusions to hell fire are related to analogies about furnaces, which speak of a sort of cleansing, not destruction, by fire. It’s this purifying fire that makes metal ready to be worked into shape for its purpose. I believe that God’s sense of Justice is restorative, not retributive, and so this “hell” is a corrective, cleansing, purgatorial experience and not just suffering for punishment’s sake.
Translations rendering “eternal punishment” and similar are, arguably, not preserving the Greek. I don’t speak Greek, but it’s my understanding from my studies that the Greek word used to mean “eternal” really refers to an “age,” and the very same word is used for things that are known to not be permanent. Therefore, I think we can very plausibly have a responsible reading of scripture that teaches a temporary, purgatorial process that ultimately corrects and saves all. I understand universalism was very popular in the early Church, being the dominant view for the first 500 years.
Even in C.S. Lewis’s vision, he has said that “Hell is locked from the inside.” Thus, there is room for one to finally choose to leave. I think if hell is an experience of a corrective Light, then given the infinitude of eternity, eventually God will win everyone over. To use an analogy I’m pulling from somewhere, it’s like we’d be playing a game of chess against God. God allows us to move our pieces, but being omniscient and desiring our salvation, he makes the moves that will always result in his victory. Mysteriously, this victory will always come in the form of our voluntary submission to Him, and I think the argument for that lies in the ontological reasoning in the article I shared above.
Aside from all that, my belief in universalism is often very personal. Following in the spirit of Christus Victor, I believe in the Total Victory of Christ. I have felt the impact of this Victory in my own life. Because each of us is precious to God, created by Him out of Love in His Image, God cannot be victorious if even one of us is in eternal hell. Satan wins in that case. If you were a father and all but one of your children went to heaven, how immeasurable would your sorrow be? Would it matter how many children you had that were saved? In that vein I’m compelled by an argument I’ve heard from DBH about how we, composed as we are by those around us, especially those we love, cannot be said to be truly, wholly saved if one we love, who indeed is a part of us, is unsaved.
Anyway I could probably babble on but that should pretty much summarize my points, do let me know your thoughts and if you have any questions :)
Referring to your tags, I haven’t seen you talk much about universalism (aside from reblogging apilgrimpassingby). What don’t you like about it?
Heyyyyyyy.
So, I find Universalism to be basically Candy Coated Calvinism, which i find personally distasteful. In fact me and a fried have often noted that Calvinism (in it's perspective on predestination specifically) is only really a few steps away from Universalism. The lack of free well present in the view is something that I particularly dislike. The human dignity of free will is really important to me. I understand most universalists are purgatorial universalists but even still I don't think that works either. Scripture makes it pretty clear that there will be some separation and as this is the "Last Judgement" I think it makes the most sense that whatever happens will be final. There is also the problem of the anti-evangelism perspective that is rampant in universalism (though this is not innate to universalism, and I think results in a poor understanding of what salvation is but i digress).
I side with C.S. Lewis who saw "hell" as God's "greatest monument to human dignity", allowing those who did not wish to choose Him, to be allowed to choose exile into Outer Darkness instead. I go into more depth about that here.
There is one universalists perspective that I really, really like and think that every Christian should read whether they agree with it or not. It's an article here. It's called "Is Hell Real?" and is absolutely amazing.
I feel like this was poorly written lol. Sorry about that. If you have any questions, please do ask
@colorful-cryptid I was thinking about this last night and realize i made a grave mistake: I said i do not like universalism. I desperately need to clarify that this is not true. I actually LOVE universalism and I want it to be true so desperately. The only reason I am not a universalist is because i believe it's unbiblical. "There is no doctrine which I would more willingly remove from Christianity than this, if it lay in my power. But it has the full support of Scripture and, specially, of Our Lord's own words; it has always been held by Christendom; and it has the support of reason. If a game is played, it must be possible to lose it." - C.S. Lewis (i quote Lewis a lot when i talk about hell lol). I hate hell; Jesus hate's hell. According to (pseudo-?)Paul, God desires that all humanity be saved. But my current conviction is that his desire for the salvation of all humanity, is "thwarted" (poor choice of word) by goodness which mandates that humans freely choose life or death. The article "Is Hell Real?" though does address the free will concern in a way that i find interesting so *shrugs*.
My main point is i was mistaken in saying I "dislike" universalism and should've just said I "disagree with" universalism. My bad
#christianity#faith#christian universalism#i havent addressed anti-evangelizing attitudes but id be happy to share#i am not anti-evangelizing and it does bug me that universalists often can be#but i think evangelizing has more to do with our behavior than with what we profess#although we should also profess clearly and often our belief in and allegiance to Christ

Since Durge is back in canon, I honestly think he should return in The Mandalorian or The Book of Boba Fett, maybe both if we’re lucky! He’s just an incredibly cool character with a lot of potential for a brutal, terrifying viscerality; An overwhelming physical opponent, and unstoppable juggernaut out for Mandalorian blood.
This would of course make him a suitable, consistent threat for a season, either against Din Djarin or Boba Fett; Both are Mandalorian. I can see Din fighting Durge, since Durge’s vendetta is against Mandalorian culture as a whole, so if there’s this monstrous Bounty Hunter going after hidden coverts that Din is trying to unite, that’s definitely his business. Plus, he’s got the Darksaber; It’d really help him out against such a behemoth, and we could get callbacks to Obi-Wan and Durge’s non-canon battle. Din thrusts the Darksaber into Durge, is shocked to see him laugh it off with the most menacing, demonic cackle; And then BAM, he gets decked in the face and has to adapt.
Conversely, I can also see Durge going against Boba Fett; In Legends, he aided the Separatists solely to kill Clones, because they’re all clones of Jango Fett, a Mandalorian. That makes things extra-personal for Boba, and opens the opportunity for him to explore his own feelings about his past and as a clone; If they’re already resolved, we could still have him reflect about it, and/or see a flashback showing his thought process. Maybe Boba even has to help clone veterans that Durge is hunting down; Obviously, the directors would need for ‘Boba’ to wear his helmet as much as possible, being depicted by a stunt double like Din Djarin. Temuera Morrison physically portrays the clone and voices him, and dubs ‘Boba Fett’ post-production.
Plus, not to plug my own ideas (yet I will) but; Imagine Boba meeting a clone trooper who looked at Boba and decided, why can’t I call myself a Fett too? So there’s that dynamic of this clone Fett who’s older yet younger than him, and how Boba defines his status as Jango’s son, if he has any more of a right to that title than this trooper, etc. We’d see Temuera play a THIRD Fett, interacting with Boba; That’d be a fun acting exercise. And obviously, this other Fett has to get involved when Durge appears, further discussing that clone dynamic.
But while storyline reasons are accounted for, logistics are another issue. Durge’s tentacle body would be incredibly difficult to animate, which is why it’ll be used sparingly; He’s going to be in his armor for most of the season, it’s how he usually operates anyway. Like Jaws, real-life limits ultimately make the few glimpses of Durge’s true form so much more effective and impactful. Durge has an entire arsenal of conventional weaponry, and we can see him square off against Boba/Din; But every now and then he can do a Nemesis from Resident Evil, as a slot in Durge’s wrist opens up to unveil a writhing tentacle.
Said tentacle can be used as a melee weapon, to stab or grapple his enemies with; A dark mirror to Mandalorian cables. Durge could act as an Anti-Mandalorian, fully-armored, maybe even with a full beskar set; That’d be quite the story to explore in comics or other material, or maybe it’s a deliberate plot point that Durge has someone forging beskar for him, and that’s a weakness to take care of. Maybe Durge has access to whistling birds, even, and a lot of his resources come from Mandalorian victims he’s looted for trophies.
He’d have a jetpack like in legends, the miniature ray-shields, twin pistols; All stuff from Durge’s debut, that also matches the Mandalorians. For a guy who hates them, he sure does fight like a Mandalorian, but I guess it’s a fight Fire with Fire situation to Durge. And as a dark mirror to Din or Boba, Durge is probably a character of very few words, if... Any, having him be a silent badass echoes our protagonists, and for Boba it’s like he’s fighting a version of himself from the past. I know in canon he’s talked, but Star Wars has always been inconsistent over how much Boba talks (he’s much more talkative in anything besides his movie appearances), and Durge would be a thematic parallel and foil to him, a true rival. Durge’s vendetta with Boba could also extend to having personally fought Jango, and not just his other clones.
Throughout the season, we could also see Durge’s armor get a bit more damaged, as gashes form; So again using Nemesis as an example, Durge starts walking around with more of his tentacles exposed. But it’s eventually saved for the big finale, where a huge portion of the SFX budget is poured into Durge’s true form; His armor is shattered save for the helmet, and out comes a walking, writhing, pile of worms intertwined with one another. Durge is unleashed and takes up a huge amount of space, gets claustrophobic and can extend his limbs; Imagine a horrible moment where he absorbs a hapless Mandalorian or some other mook into his body, his torso writhes, and then Durge’s body spits out just their armor. His tentacled form is embedded with the ruined shrapnel of his armor, which he swings around to add an edge to his attacks.
Durge is of course blown apart; But there’s probably a very brief end-credits scene that shows the liquid remains moving on their own, indicating Durge is still alive. This could be a setup for a future appearance in another season, in someone else’s show; Or just as a backup in general if people want to do stuff with Durge in the comics, set after his battle. Admittedly it sounds a lot like we’re kind of plagiarizing Genndy’s Clone Wars series, but it’s Legends and thus technically Disney’s; So in a way it’s re-canonizing some awesome moments? I just love Durge’s debut.
And even without his tentacles, again; Durge is a massive, lumbering giant. They might have to hire a really tall actor, and/or do some SFX work to make Durge look bigger than he is, maybe even make him a prop, or CGI. Have that dude do a Nemesis (again I LOVE Nemesis too), where he’s just effortlessly plowing through walls and enemies as an unstoppable force. Let the viewer feel terror when Durge suddenly breaks into a full sprint, when previously he’d walked at an intimidating, Horror Slasher pace; That’d be a really fun Oh Shit moment for the protagonists. In regards to Boba as a potential enemy, maybe he even references having met Durge before; Both of them being bounty hunters adds another connection, a shared criminal underworld setting to encounter each other in.
So then Boba or Din is being mercilessly chased down by this pursuer, who madly stops at nothing to mow down his enemy; Durge does insane things like fly a ship directly into a building to go after his target, swing giant debris to smash people apart, etc. He’s intelligent and so there’s the horror at seeing Durge being able to wield complex weaponry, like pulling out an entire rocket launcher and giving no fucks over the casualties he’ll blow up. Just really sell this dude as a stoic monster who won’t rest until he completes his mission, until his enemy is dead; Popping heads, raining fists, maybe dragging out a kill to display spite. Durge is utterly implacable and there’s a mysteriousness to him, because he’s a fully-armored, masked individual… Which then turns it into a borderline jumpscare when Durge unveils one of his tentacles to toss the hero around like a ragdoll.
Our hero learns that Durge is an ancient monster of legend… But he and the audience don't get to appreciate just what type of creature Durge is, until that armor starts peeling back. Thus Durge gets de-armored as I mentioned; A dark mirror to Boba losing his own armor, and/or Din’s face being revealed. But unlike those two, Durge’s face is never revealed… If he even HAS a face; I kinda like that take, even if that’s not how it was in Legends. Just sell and portray Durge as this almost eldritch, cryptid monstrosity, practically a demon that rose from an earthen grave like a vengeful zombie.
Stars Wars is a Space Fantasy, after all. Imagine letting audiences’ imaginations run wild, as we are told of a Mandalorian monster, a demon that burst from the ground, and then we cut to this imposing yet humanoid figure; What horrific thoughts are going on underneath his mask, and what horrific visage is also contained? Since Din is set up to explore the mines of Mandalore in Season 3, that could connect to a thematic backstory for Durge, who is also said to have come from the underground; Legends fans of course know how he got there.
And maybe it’ll even be outright clarified that yes, Durge came from elsewhere, was sealed away like an ancient evil, only to have escaped in recent times with revenge in his heart. If Din is looking for a ‘Dragon’ in the Mythosaur, Durge can represent another archetypal evil, like Grendel or other monsters. He’s a myth from the past returned to present-day, tying to Mandalorian heritage; So if he’s foe for Din, it’s thematic that he beats this horrific legend, in his journey to become a legend of his own. Make a story out of defeating another tale.
