JD Dancer Appreciation Vol. 6: XuXu YunLing ✨

The incomparable XuXu YunLing has portrayed so many iconic coaches in so many iconic maps that this is only the first of what will likely be many posts about her contributions to the Just Dance franchise. I was blown away by just how many of the games’ most iconic coaches she’s brought to life, including the All-Mother herself! She’s only been with the franchise since JD21 and has already been part of so many amazing maps - I can’t wait to see what future JD games hold for her!

alright chat, we’re starting a new series on this account called movie of the month, where i draw a jd doodle inspired by my favorite movie i watched that month, whether it be a first-time watch or a rewatch! (i’m also starting from january because that was when i made this account)

i did not watch much in january and this movie is really niche but it was honestly pretty funny so uh. yea ^w^

I’ve been imagining the dynamic between Skarlett, Felicia, and Darius and had these ideas.

Skarlett found the two of them when they were still animals, both of them being injured. She nursed them back to health and transformed them into humans to serve her.

Felicia was grateful to Skarlett and felt like she owed her services in exchange for her saving her life. She admires Skarlett a lot because of her power and knowledge, and wishes to be like her.

Darius, on the other hand, despises Skarlett. He feels like she’s holding the life debt over his head and keeping him trapped in a world he never asked to be in. He also understands that if he goes against her, he won’t know whether or not he’ll make it out alive. So he bides his time and plans.

Felicia and Darius have a sort of relationship you’d have with your coworker. They’re fine with each other and they’d go to a tavern together sometimes, but they wouldn’t really call each other friends. Darius holds negative emotions towards Felicia for sucking up to Skarlett, often referring to her as ‘Boss Witch’s little lap cat’.

Eventually, after years of working in the shadows, Darius destroys potion alley and rejoices over the remains. He probably kills Skarlett and maybe even Felicia depending on how dark I want the story to be.

I have a few thoughts

first off, it's in potion alley, so instant connection to bloody mary and boss witch

I feel like the coaches wouldn't have the best relationship with each other

the magic aura around darius doesn't appear on felicia or boss witch, so I think he might be more powerful than them??

he doesn't seem to have the same witch vibes as those two, either

of course, we have to think about the Leda of it all because you can't just have a bird motif and dark flow, right?

the choreography at points really feel like he's being controlled, like a puppet on a string

I think it's a pretty good theory that he's being controlled by night swan like the just dancers

but that raises some questions, a. why would he not just be a regular night swan army soldier, and b. why would he be in potion alley of all places?

I think it may be more likely that he has no connection to the main lore, and can simply just turn into a bird, like how felicia turns into a cat

still, it's fun to think about

I headcanon that Boss Witch and Lilith are sisters.

They were super close when they were little, but BW got sick and tired of being compared to Lilith. All of it festering inside, making BW vow not only to be the most powerful witch in the danceverse but that she would overshadow the power of the Maneater herself.

who do you think Jack knows/ outside of Cygnus, Night Swan, and the other just dancers. And what are his dynamics with those coaches outside of the aforementioned Night Swan, Cygnus, and the just dancers?

felicia: she’s the old creepy witch that lives down the street that all the kids are scared of. as a kid, jack never really feared her, partially due to her already knowing night swan and being close to the family. they bonded a lot more once jack got older, and he would often visit her when he was able to

boss witch: felicia’s wife. jack usually sees her when he visits the potion alley and despite being not as close, they get along just fine

darius: idk how he’s even related to the witch wives but i think he would lowkey creep jack out. he just has that silent stare that would make jack want to steer clear

luke cypher: they’re best friends in pedestals so i don’t see why they wouldn’t be best friends in general fanon. they’re both performers with quick, snappy senses of humor to me so i think they would get along right away

Si'ha and Traveler couldn't trust anyone, except for Almathea, so they decided to investigate on their own. Traveler would go to Eternyx to get a “tracking spell” and Si’ha would investigate who would benefit from Leda being brought back to Earth. 

Traveler never went to Eternyx because he didn't see anything interesting in the place. Leda, unlike him, always had curiosity on how the people from there were, mainly because she wanted to know more about dark flow users. 

The reason Traveler went to see the witches to get that spell was because they were “protectors” ( if someone wanted to enter certain parts of Meloisa they would first need to pass them, in this case, they were guarding the entrance to the UnderWorld from Eternyx)

Protectors can’t leave the place where they were assigned nor enter Melosia Realms without a reason and these 3 specifically were the best at unusual magic. Also, let me explain them:

Felicia: A werecreature that got inside Melosia Realms by being a prodigy in enchantments. She stands out for her great knowledge and quick memorization of spells, a walking encyclopedia when it came to that subject. However, she has not been able to perform many of these spells due to not having access to certain materials.

Darius: Capable of multi transform to different animals, even so the animal he normally uses is the crow. His magic is very rare since normally the power to transform into an animal requires having inherited it or being very close to the flow, neither of the two options were in Darius' case. 

He was able to sneak into Melosia Realms and learn for quite a while until all three were caught.

Aurora (who later becomes Boss Witch): She has great power, she was introduced to Melosia Realms as an apprentice and was destined to be paired with Felicia. She brought Darius as a trusted partner in exchange for getting as much information as possible about shapeshifters like him. Her charisma is what saved her and her companions from being expelled when Darius was discovered.

The place where they were assigned to be is one far from the cities of Eternyx, the high ranks did not want them to be totally unpunished so that was their form of punishment, in addition to being the only ones who are not allowed to ask for extra information from Melosia.
