the elden ring DLC coming out reminded me I've actually had a larger er piece sitting around uncompleted for *checks watch* 5 months so was fun to revisit that a little today hahaha

Ok but what if it WAS that miquella was in love with godwyn. Like, godwyn WAS his first choice for elden lord/king consort. But then ranni killed godwyn, so miquella decides to just FUCK UP RANNI'S BROTHER in the worst possible revenge way like "fuck you ranni, you send my eldest brother into an unnatural undeath, I send your eldest brother into an unnatural in death OH AND ALSO I'm gonna steal his true death, I'm going to pluck his soul out of the erdtree and corrupt it, I'm going to shred him of everything you knew and loved about him and make him my mindless puppet, and then I'm going to use him to replace the man you killed in my godawful plan to take over marika's godhood FUCK YOU"

Really like.....makes the "here I abandon my love" thing make more sense in a super fuckin emo teenager shit... Like "wah, my bf is dead I don't even need love anymore better just cut it tf out of my soul"

Really makes siccing malenia on a non-cooperative radahn make more sense too... Like, radahn doesn't want anything to do with miquella but miquella can't find and hurt ranni so he is enacting his revenge against ranni on him instead

Makes the "miquella awaits thee, promised consort" into the threat it reads as

(the last coherent words radahn hears before he goes mad with scarlet rot)

I mean I bet everybody loved godwyn, but I bet miquella looked the most like him. I bet miquella held as a secret envy and admiration in his heart that if he had not been born cursed, if he were allowed to grow up, he would look just like godwyn, he would be just like godwyn, loving and beloved by all. When ranni killed Godwyn, it was like she killed the man miquella, by all rights, should have been.

Or maybe miquella just has an eldest-brother fetish and so when godwyn got taken out, he just jumped down the line to the next eldest brother

I thought I would only be taking a casual trip through Limgrave and the nearby woods - do a little clean-up, stomp through some low-level dungeons on my way towards whatever comes after Raya Lucaria.

I was expecting something a little better from the elden ring dlc story, in regards to miquella. This wasn't satisfying.

ah. ok. so from what I'm seeing from some shadow of the erdtree spoilers, fromsoft has doubled down on some incredibly troubling tropes that were already present in the main game and that they really should know better than to employ this way. there's some really ugly history attached to the themes and ideas they're presenting here, and playing it this straight is both irresponsible and annoying. disappointing at best, objectively not funny.

the fact that they decided to publish this dlc during pride month, though? fucking hysterical
