↬ READER THAT LIKES OVERSIZED HOODIES / JACKETS HEADCANON.
Tumblr media
rise of the teenage mutant ninja turtles.
request: ❝ Hi! Can I please request a Rise Casey Jr x reader headcanon where the reader wears oversized jackets and hoodies all the time? Not for any specific reason, just loves wearing jackets and hoodies. Genderneutral Reader & romantic please? ❞ —@poisonsprinkles27
warnings: none, mild swearing.
characters: casey jr jones.
writers note: oversized jackets, hoodie, sweaters, just clothes in general are the best. this request is relatable, im always wearing oversized hoodies.
readers pronouns are not mentioned nor included.
Tumblr media
✶ depending on what timeline you’re place in, good or bad. bad, he’ll worry about the weather, especially if it’s crazy hot, he’ll also worry about your hoodie / jacket being caught to something or being pulled by the loose fabric. good timeline, he’s not too worried, he’ll simply ask if you’re hot in that. he actually likes your hoodies, he likes how oversized they are, he actually has a pair of his own.
✶ casey’s clothing lean to the more baggy, such as baggy pants and shirts. he’ll gladly give you one of his hoodies or jackets. honestly, he has a favorite hoodie in your wardrobe that he probably wore without you knowing, not that he stolen it, just borrowed it. he doesn’t stop you from wearing the clothes you like.
✶ cold weathers, he doesn’t ask, well depending on how thin the fabric of hoodie / jacket then he’ll ask if your too cold in that.
✶ if you say it’s because you like oversized clothes / jackets, hoodies, sweaters, he doesn’t say anything but accept it, like I said earlier, he’s happy as long you’re happy.
✶ in the bad timeline, he’ll at least want you to tie it so it’s not easy for you to be grabbed by the kraang, he still won’t stop you from wearing what you like, he just wants you to be safe. he helps you sew the rips and tears.
✶ he’s the type to pull on the strings on your hoodie for shits and giggles.
✶ doesn’t mind if you taken one of his hoodies, he actually likes it. he likes it once you give it back and it smells like you, not that he’s weird, he finds it comforting, despite the teasing he receives from his teacher and mother. matter a fact, he’ll even let you have it. to be honest, he probably gave you some of old his jackets and hoodies that he no longer wears, or thought about donating.
✶ he probably buys you some, he assumes that you’ll like it, even it’s a plain color jacket / hoodie.
✶ casey is pretty cheesy once in awhile, he’ll get an oversized jacket way too big, yet big enough to have both of you inside of it.
✶ “wear my hoodie today and I wear yours for today also.”
✶ was confused when you tied the strings of his hoodie and yours together and pulled back only it tighten around his head, along with yours. “why..?” “It needed to be done casey.”
Tumblr media
end - casey is so fucking adorable! I was so happy to write for him even though I probably didn’t get his character correctly. casey looks like the type to wear heavy clothes during hot days, bro wears beanies.
I also wrote this late at night and haven’t slept, it’s 8 in the morning ;(. I’m sorry if there’s any typos.

I want Casey Jones from TMNT 1987 to have his own Bike too like 1990 and 2003
(So Casey Jones doesn't have to borrow the Shell-Cycle from the Turtles)

Stockman, I shrunk the Turtles! [1]
A TMNT 2k3 Borrower AU:
In which some tiny turtles make a home in the walls of Stocktronics lab, doing their best to make Stockman's life as aggravating as possible. A wandering night guard by the name of Casey Jones stumbles across them on a supply run, and the rest is history.
(All fluff and hijinks, little to no angst.)
---
The noise cutting through the thick silence of the dark laboratory was scratchy and quiet and kind of high pitched, irregular and staccato, like someone's forgotten phone left stuck on a Youtube video. If Casey hadn't stopped to lean against the railing and itch his elbow with his flashlight he wouldn't have heard it at all, booted footfalls easily drowning it out as he marched by.
But he did, and he did.
Hadn't the Head Honcho been complaining about mice or something? Casey thought to himself, readjusting his grip on the flashlight and shutting it off as he turned to investigate. If it was mice, he didn't wanna scare 'em off too early.
Casey wasn't made for sneaking, exactly - catch him in the middle of a hockey match or Purple Dragon bashing sesh and he was graceful as a prima ballerina, he swore - but as he slid through the doorway and into the darkened break room, illuminated faintly by the blinking numbers on the microwave and the light over the sink, he managed to stay quiet enough that the mice kept squeaking away.
The source of the noise was obvious: some idiots had left some cupboard doors open, and in the dim light, Casey could just barely make out the glint off of the corners of various upended boxes and around the curves of an open peanut butter jar. No wonder they had a mouse problem!
Time to shed some light on the subject...
Like a gunslinger in the wild west, he spun the flashlight around in his hand and flicked it on, illuminating the cupboard in stark yellows and deep shadows, expecting to see little mousey eyes glinting back.
What he got instead was this:
Little green men, only a couple inches tall, frozen in terrified poses on top of and around the peanut butter jar, staring up at him. One of them had their hand shoved under the lid and appeared to be in the process of trying to yank it back out again. As the flashlight beam moved across the scene, their eyes flashed.
He'd almost think he was looking at a bunch of tiny action figures or something, if not for the way the stuck one's shoulders were moving up and down just the tiniest bit as it breathed, faster and faster in its rising alarm.
"Uh..." he said, and that shattered the moment rather decisively.
One of the ones on the ground grabbed the other by the wrist and yanked them into shadows behind the jar, and the one perched on top of the jar turned its whole body to face Casey head on, tiny face contorted in a snarl, gritted teeth and narrowed eyes that would be terrifying if its entire body wasn't as big as a fun size twix.
"Back off, big guy," it growled, and okay, that was a dude's voice. High pitched air whistling through tiny lungs, but Casey could tell. "Just forget you ever saw us and walk away and no one gets hurt."
"Raphy, get outta here," hissed arm stuck guy, giving up on the statue lifestyle and bracing his feet against the jar, tugging with all his might. "You're not gonna fight Giant Man as the Wasp, just save yourself!"
"Whoa, whoa," Casey held up both hands in the universal sign for see, no weapons, I don't hurt tiny guys, forgetting about the flashlight in the one until the shadows swallowed the cupboard again.
When he'd fumbled the flashlight back into position, the peanut butter guy was still stuck and tugging away like his life depended on it, but the growly one was gone. Vanished, kind of like a ninja.
Leaving his defenseless buddy to struggle all alone.
Casey couldn't help but feel for the little guy. He seemed genuinely scared and desperate.
"Hey, uh, little... green... man?" He said awkwardly, "Here, lemme help. I gotcha." He reached for the jar, intending on unscrewing the cap so Peanut Butter Guy could pull himself free, but as he moved forward-
Two searing points of pain on the back of his hand had him shouting and jerking it away, blinking away the shock and almost missing the growly guy flipping backwards off of his hand and over to the peanut butter jar lid.
Casey hissed and shook out the injury; was he bleeding? Yeowch.
"Thought I told you to walk away," Growly guy growled, crouching, looking all squeakily menacing. His incredibly tiny fingers were wrapped around the hilt of red thumbtacks, the points of which were glistening just the slightest bit in the beam of the flashlight. "You need another painful reminder or are you gonna follow directions like a good little guard dog?"
"Raph," the other one whined.
"I just wanted to help 'im," Casey defended himself, "Poor little guy's stuck!"
"Want me to tell you where you can shove-"
Growly's posturing was interrupted by a hand on his arm; one of the other tiny dudes, the ones that had ducked behind the jar, must have climbed up the back. "I want to hear him out, Raph," Third Guy said reasonably. "...then, if he makes a wrong move, we can get back to the stabbing."
Gee. Thanks.
They all looked at him, then. Casey even thought he saw the face of the fourth one peeking out from the darkness behind the jar.
"Listen, I-I'm not a bad guy or anything. Promise! I was only gonna unscrew the lid so your buddy here could get free. Cross my heart." He crossed his index finger over his heart to demonstrate his sincerity.
Third Guy leaned over the edge of the lid to meet Peanut Butter Guy's eyes. "Mikey?"
Peanut Butter Guy was shaking a bit, either from fear or exhaustion or both, as he hung from his single hand off the side of the jar. "'kay," he said, so quietly that Casey could barely hear it at all.
Growly stomped, brandishing his tacks like he thought they were a legitimately threatening weapon. "Give me one excuse, you overgrown bonehead, and I'll-"
"Easy, Raph," Third Guy placed a hand on the lip of Growly's shell, tugging him backwards. "Give him a chance. He can't help while we're standing here, at least, so come on."
Third Guy hopped off the peanut butter jar and Growly followed after a moment of hesitation, a leap that seemed almost disproportionate to their size. They landed on a nearby box, where Growly continued to wave his tacks around, spinning them in his teeny hands.
Okay. Guess they were doing this.
Peanut Butter Guy screwed his eyes shut as Casey's hand drew near. "S'okay, little guy, I'll be gentle," Casey assured him before shoving the flashlight between his teeth.
He grabbed the container on the opposite side of its unfortunate passenger and wrapped his palm around the lid. A slow, careful twist later, and the tiny green dude hissed and dropped, landing on the ground with an almost inaudible thump.
Between one blink and the next, Shadow Dude was at Peanut Butter Guy's side, inspecting his itty-bitty splayed fingers. It was really only then, squinting down at the two of them, that Casey realized they had three fingers on their hands. Not to mention those little round things on their backs, which almost looked like turtle shells? He just kind of stared, holding the peanut butter jar with both hands, his flashlight between his clenched teeth, a little fascinated and a lot confused.
[Where it all started.]
[more to come!]

MIGHTY MORPHIN POWER RANGERS / TMNT II #1-5
December 2022 - May 2023
By Ryan Parrott , Dan Mora, Raúl Angulo, and Ed Dukeshire.
Tumblr media
It's the sequel for the miniseries that was successful enough to have action figures!
The Turtles and the MMPR band together to stop Krang and Rita Repulsa, but a betrayal by their human ally leaves them without powers. And then things get creative...
Tumblr media
SCORE: 8
I just want to put in writing that true leaders admit when they are wrong, so the dialogue above is not worthy of Leo.
Alright, let's move on to the actual story...
Tumblr media
I was running against two challenges while reading this story.
I am pretty ignorant about Power Ranger lore. I have watched some episodes, a movie and the horrible reunion special, but other than that, I may miss some references.
It has been a long time since I read part one, so apart from certain elements of that story that I remembered, I was kind of constantly catching up.
And you really need to have part one fresh in your mind to read this one... they are basically the same story.
Tumblr media
A thought occurred to me while reading this... what is going on with Casey Jones?
He used to be the not-very-bright American hero (think of Jack Burton from "Big Trouble in Little China." And that kind of adaptation used to be the case. But lately, Casey has been a little less temperamental, and sometimes smart enough to avoid getting into conflicts (think of the Rise movie, the IDW version and its spin-offs, like this one).
Classic Casey wouldn't have gotten himself in this situation. But given how much this universe borrows from the IDW continuity, I guess that Casey would behave like this.
Tumblr media
Isn't it great when you find four morphin' devices that match the colors of the turtles?
Tumblr media
The Turtles and the Power Rangers being able to morph all at the same time was already great, but the book manages to surprise with yet another creative twist... that I'll explore after the break...
Tumblr media
Although, if you have already seen the covers, then you know what's coming...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the book really came together at this point. With (a very 2012 inspired) Splinter coming in to teach the new mutants how to fight with their new bodies.
Tumblr media
And then this happened... man, those toys will sell themselves.
Tumblr media
In general, the art in this book is stunning. It may not be high art, but it does what it needs to do, beyond expectations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shredder also gets a chance to morph again (it would be a crime if he didn't).
Tumblr media
The zords in general look amazing. I guess if you are a MMPR artist, you really need to know how to draw robots... and humans.
Tumblr media
So yeah, it seems like part 3 is to be expected... and I am okay with that.
The only thing that felt weird to me, is how the Turtles and the Power Rangers seemed to hang together all the time, despite this story taking place weeks after the first one. But given that this is a different universe, I guess anything is possible?
Reading this story made me think hard on why I decided not to buy the crossover figures... maybe if there is a wave for this sequel, I may consider getting some dimension X power rangers... we'll see...

Who Now?
2012 Au where pretty much everything is the same except none of the guys actually knows who Casey Jones is.
They're fighting Bebop and Rocksteady and Raph hits one of them into a wall. He gets back up and says something along the lines of "At least you aren't Casey Jones." Raph finds this to be a bizarre comment, but no time to wonder because they're back to fighting. Maybe it's some weird human saying.
Donnie sneaks out to 'borrow' from a computer store and while he's picking the lock on the back door, a voice behind him hollers, "CASEY JOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNEEEEESSS!!!!!" Something hits him right between the eyes, and when he looks around to see who's there, the alley is empty. Another small rock hits him at high speeds every time he tries to pick the lock until he gives up and goes home.
Leo gets into a rooftop fight with Karai, and he's gaining ground. They're exchanging insults/banter and as she gets more and more frustrated, Karai angrily wishes she was fighting 'that stupid jones kid' instead. At least he didn't have any proper training. Or did that make it more humiliating to be beaten by him? Leo asks who Casey Jones is. Karai spits, "Oh, like you don't know." No. No, he doesn't.
Mikey is on a pizza run and he's got his hands full of boxes, turning to make his way up to the rooftops, when he hears a voice from inside the pizzaria shout for Jones to hurry up. He whirls around, nearly losing his grip. He's gotta see this guy if he can- he and his brothers have a bet going on about him- but it's too late. The door is closed.
This keeps going on through the seasons, escalating to ridiculous proportions. Every new person who knows who Casey Jones is is immediately interrogated mid battle. Even the Kraang know him, for shell's sake! Even April says he's real! He's fought every enemy in the book, and apparently he's beaten/sufficiently frustrated all of them! The Shredder curses his name!
And then when they finally need to flee the city and the Farmhouse Arc is about to start, and they have no safe ride to speak of, a van screeches up beside them, smacking the Shredder across the road. A lanky, drowned-rat-lookin teenager hops out waving a hockey stick, shouting at them to get in.
They do, and Donnie asks for his name. He says they've already met. Donnie says no the fuck they haven't. Oh, the kid says, then I'm Casey Jones.

Note
Let's hear the whole gang, not just Leo, too! Just a couple each is fine, but we can't leave them out! :D
Alrighty! Here’s a link to Leo’s headcanons in case anyone missed them!
Raphael
To help with his temper tantrums as a kid, Splinter found an old drum set and put it together for Raph. He told him anytime he feels angry he can bet the drums. At first it worked but over time Raph actually started to learn how to play the drums and got good at it. His brothers enjoyed hearing him play so much that they begged to their dad to find them instruments for themselves to also learn how to play.
Raph loves watching Spanish soap operas. He watches them so often that he has become fluent in speaking Spanish. Often his brothers will walk in on him watching his soaps, screaming at the characters in Spanish for their dumb choices.
Donatello
Donnie has secret storage areas and safes hidden around the lair to keep things away from his brothers, mainly sweet treats, snacks, and rare collector items.
Donnie knows how to speak Japanese (not as fluent as Leo though), French, Latin, knows Morse cod, and also knows sign language (though it’s difficult for him since he only has three fingers)
Michelangelo
Mikey has no sense of privacy and will go through his brothers stuff whenever he’s bored or is looking for something he knows they have that he wants to “borrow”. This can sometimes lead to many confrontations and blackmail opportunities from the secrets or embarrassing things Mikey “accidentally” finds in his brothers’ rooms.
Mikey’s love language is giving gifts, making snacks and sweet treats he made himself to give to Renet. He always makes her special snacks or delicious bake goods to eat while she goes on a time traveling trips.
April O’Neil
April refuses to talk to the Utrom Rook. She reminds her of her old friend Irma and brings back too many memories she doesn’t wish to relive and feels uncomfortable around her.
Despite have the ability to read everyone’s minds, April has a huge sense of privacy and refuses to read the turtles or any of her friends thoughts. She feels it’s an invasion of their privacy and breaking their trust by looking into their minds without their consent, the only time when she does read anyone’s minds is for missions.
Casey Jones
Casey’s parents are divorced, his mom left his dad for another man when he’s was little. Casey and his little sister now live with there dad, but sometimes they go and visit their mom who lives out of state (whenever there’s an ep that Casey is not in, this is my headcanon to where he is during that ep, he’s visiting his mom)
After Karai kissed him while she was under the brainworm’s control, while he did enjoy and it spark a new attraction towards Karai, Casey felt he broke “the bro code” for kissing his best friend’s sister, so he never told Raph or any of the turtles about the kiss.
Karai
Karai likes to help Mikey with his pranks on his brothers but will deny any involvement in the scheme when asked or accused.
Sometimes Karai would go to Leo and ask him to tell her stories about their father, wanting to know how Splinter raised the turtles and what kind of parent he was like. Sometimes Leo also tell Karai stories that Splinter used to tell him and his brother when they were children.

Trans fem 2012 Casey Jones Coming Out HC's
I love how I either see Casey Jones as trans fem or trans masc, it just depends on the version of him LMAO
He realized it when he had that body-swap incident with April
Like, he had some moments before where he questioned himself, but swapping bodies with April was an "OH" moment yk?
I believe Casey's mother isn't mentioned in this series, he doesn't seem to be close to his dad, and his little sister probably wouldn't understand, so he didn't turn to his family for advice or anything like that
Personally, I hc Mikey as genderfluid, so I feel like Casey would go to Mikey for advice first
Raph and Leo were sparring, April and Donnie were working in Donnie's lab, Splinter was likely meditating somewhere, so that left Casey and Mikey alone eating pizza and watching one of Mikey's shows
Mikey's chowing down on his pizza and Casey's just blurts out "So how'd you know you were genderfluid?"
Cue Mikey almost choking on his pizza (they were WAITING for this moment)
Casey immediately feels less nervous as he talks with Mikey about his gender and how he wants to be perceived, etc.
Mikey doesn't push Casey to try out new pronouns just yet, as he knows it can be overwhelming at first when coming out and discovering who you are
Finally comes out to Raph, April, Donnie, and Leo later
Obviously they were very supportive and excited, April told Casey if he ever wanted to borrow some clothes, makeup, etc. from her, he was welcome to
Raph and Leo gave him a big hug, followed by Raph punching Casey in the arm playfully and smiling, Donnie was like "I knew it!", and Mikey patted him on the back saying "welcome to the club"
He felt so accepted already and wanted to cry, but didn't
Splinter told Casey he was proud of him and that's when Casey finally spilled some tears
They all had his back. <3

Tw/ blood, major character death
A lot of people have hcs that Raph & his mother died before Jr was born, and honestly I see it and I loved it at first, still love it actually.
But just thinking about Casey, being 13, going through hallways, people passing by him holding a bunch of medical supplies, trying to find Raph after he had just went on a mission. He was excited since he wanted to show what he had fixed. He doesn't find him, yet when he does, he freezes.
He freezes as people, the ones with lots of medical stuff in their hands, rush past him. He drops his weapon as stares at Raphael. His whole body is covered in injuries yet Jr doesn't focus on that. No he focuses on his shell. His shell broken to two pieces, almost ripped off of him.
He can't help but stare at it, before his eyes glance over to Raphaels. Raphs eyes, once shining with hope and happiness, once filled with determination, dull. His eyes are dull to the point he doesn't even believe it's Raphael. But it is. It's Raphaels eyes.
Someone is screaming, other people are yelling and racing towards Raph. He feels arms wrap around him, detaining him from getting closer, his vocal cords will most likely be damaged after this but does he care? No. No he doesn't.
Raphs dull eyes stare at him, he reaches his hand over to grab but the body whoever is detaining him pulls him back. They scream to him but all he could hear is that ringing.
The ringing with the ground crushing under the mechanical krangs feet. The lasers hitting the ground making a large sound that shook the earth. He feels the air, he smells the air, the air of rocks, fire and death.
He feels Sensei grabbing him, pulling him towards the green glowing portal as he kicks and screams. He screams for her to come back, for her to come with them, for her to be safe.
He screams for his mother.
Yet, she stands there, with a large mechanical bō, borrowed by Donatello. She looked at him, smiling widely with tears in her eyes. She's happy. Yet, the glint in her eyes, tells him she's sorry, she's sorry for what she's doing.
"I'm sorry, Junior."
"Live on the Jones name for me, okay?"
"I love you"
He screams for her.
He screams for her but all she does it look away.
Those dull eyes of Raphs, the glint in his mothers eyes?
All he does is cry.
Cry, scream and kick like a child he is.
A child he'll forever be.
He'll need to grow out it.
Everyone dies eventually, that's what Michaelangelo says.
Everyone dies eventually.
And he'll need to get over it.
He'll get over it.

ROTTMNT: You Are Not Alone
Leonardo awakens in New York with his apprentice, Casey Jones, and a plan.
The origin story of my Rottmnt AU, Retired Leo. It's based off the movie and borrows a few scenes and lines but mostly it's its own story. Updates will be every Saturday.
--
Chapter 1
“Sensei! Sensei!”
Leonardo’s eyes snap open then immediately slam shut. It’s so bright. And loud. Why are there so many voices? And what’s that rumbling?
He cracks open his eyes again and the first thing he can make out is the concerned face of his apprentice, Casey Jones, staring down at him.
“Sensei, are you okay? Can you move?” he asks frantically, his voice barely audible over the surrounding din.
“Casey, what-?” Leonardo starts to reach for his aching head and realizes that he’s squeezing something- an orange ninja mask.
And it all comes rushing back to him.
He shoots up and immediately winces from a stabbing pain in his side. He grips the lower left side of his plastron, remembering his injury, and looks around.
They’re in the middle of New York City, on Times Square. Hundreds of people and cars are going by. The bright lights from the surrounding buildings illuminate the darkness of the night.
It’s a sight very familiar to Leonardo, but one he has not seen for many, many years.
“We made it,” he sighs and looks down at the orange mask in his grip. “Mikey did it.”
“Come on-urgh!” He tries to stand up but falls back to his knees as his injury throbs.
“Sensei!” Casey exclaims and grabs the large turtle mutant’s arm, steadying him. “We have to tend to your wound.”
“Not here,” Leonardo hisses, nervously eyeing the passersby. “We gotta move.”
He drapes his arm around Casey’s shoulders, letting the teen support him as they hurry off the streets.
“Luckily, people are used to weird stuff on Times Square.”

I'm back to ask you random things :D
What if Casey went blind or deaf while on portal or in a fight? How would the others react? How would Casey feel? How would is dad and little sister react? Would he continue to go to school, or to the lair?
What are your thoughts?
Thank you for the random ask!
Oh man yess.
So I've been losing my hearing for a while now.
(That's what I'm calling it no one fucking knows what's going on with that yet.)
So this just yess.
Also to preface this I'm not an expert on any on of this.
.
I'd say for Casey it'd be due to head trauma.
Casey gets into so many fights. He's been knocked around a lot, especially for the only person on the team to not have any kind of healing factor.
Hell he's already got a metal plate in his head.
Casey is a regular guy (as regular as Casey Jones can be), he's human.
He can't just take all these hits without suffering consequences.
So at first he starts hearing a ringing sound.
Doesn't think much of it. It's New York, it'd be weider if things were quiet.
It comes and it goes, he doesn't think much of it.
But as the fights continue and things start to get worse.
For a while Casey doesn't notice.
And neither do the turtles.
The ringing starts keeping him up at night.
Casey starts missing things in conversations, asking them to repeat things.
They think he's just not plaything attention.
Casey talks louder than usual which the others think is just Casey being Casey.
But it's really because he can't tell how loud he's being.
Casey finds himself looking at people's lips to figure out what they're saying but they just assume he's flirting.
Casey starts to notice but he feels self conscious, he's the great Casey Jones afterall he can't be seen as weak.
The truth comes out in argument.
Casey's not sure who started, anger is pumping thro his veins and he cannot and will not be stopped.
"Cos I can't hear you!"
And than there's silence.
And the shame kicks in.
Casey can't fight his way out of this.
So he runs.
It's April who finds him, a note and pen in hand and he knows Casey knows has to face the music.
She hugs him, holds him and reminds him that he's not alone.
He cries at that.
The others are all confused and apologetic.
And saddened that Casey never told them he was struggling.
Donnie researches alot, upgrading Casey's T-Phone to transcribe his calls (show it in text), vibrate rather than ring etc.
There's always a pen and paper available just incase.
Leo helps him train to use his other senses, and makes sure every episode of space heroes they watch has closed captions.
It's April who goes with Casey to the doctor when his dad won't show up.
Casey's dad believes Casey's doing it for attention, taking any response Casey makes to him that Casey can hear him fine.
Angel gives him a big hug and tells him she loves him.
She makes a little pouch for his hearing aids, and happily calls them "Casey's ears"
Casey's hearing aids are black with skull charms hanging off them.
They are upgraded by Donnie and help to block out background noise so be can hear the others.
They don't fix everything and Casey gets headaches from wearing them for too long.
When that happens they have "hearing breaks" , where the group just sit in quiet and just be.
It's relaxing for them all and helps Casey feel less fatigued from having to pay so much attention.
Casey has and will turn them off, take them out to avoid lectures.
Which he definitely gets after the whole keeping head trauma and injuries to himself.
Even without words Leo has mastered the I'm not mad just disappointed aura.
Raph is always their to lift him back up, he played drums once and Casey got ecstatic cos he could hear it and they have jamming out sessions.
He also stands by Casey's left side in fights because its his worser side, to defend him and keep an eye out for danger.
Mikey is the one who starts making little gestures to help Casey understand things.
And Donnie realises they can borrow elements from ASL.
Because the turtles only have 3 fingers they can't learn regular sign language.
So they make their own.
Little gestures and movements that translate to words and sentences.
It also comes in handy when they need to be stealthy.
April and Casey also both learn regular ASL from books they've found at the Libary and teaching each other.
Casey's a bit self conscious about signing in public, we'll aware of the stares but being with his friends lessens that feeling.
He prefers to sign and speak at the same time even if it took a while for him to figure it out.
The others also try to remember to face Casey when they speak so he can attempt to figure out what they are saying.
Casey is absolutely shit at lipreading and hates it.
He does manage to get an interpreter for school which does help and April is right there to help tutor him so he manages.
Casey's dad did try to destroy his hearing aids in a bout of drunken rage but Casey managed to hide them before he could.
He tries to sheild his head because of the head trauma he's suffered, and luckily he sheilds the hits but gets hurt.
He ends up going to the lair for the night, dropping Angel at a friend's house.
Donnie patches him up, Mikey holds him, Leo is pacing and April and Raph are contemplating murder to whoever did this.
Casey ends up in tears, he knows he's not faking it... He needs his hearing aids, he does he's not faking.
He says so in a broken whisper and everyone embraces him.
Casey's got a long journey ahead of him but he's not alone.
He never will be.

SAY LESS I'M HERE
Okay, so I call it the Universal Misplacement AU (or UMAU for short lol) and it's called that because Casey's "twin", Rose, is originally my Rise of the TMNT OC (Rise is the version that got me into TMNT) and when I started branching into other versions, I originally started with Rose dimension hopping and in the 2012 crossover, she and Casey became accidental twins because they look a lot alike and are Batshit Insane. And eventually this turned into a whole separate idea where Rose got teleported to the 2012 verse when she was pretty young and got adopted into the Jones family and was raised as Casey's twin. She's Fae, which means that a single multiverse can't have more than one of her, and her prematurely discovering her Fae magic (not that she was old enough to know what the fuck it was) is what got her to the 2012 verse.
But onto the actual AU! Rose was raised as Casey's twin sister. Those two are as thick as fucking thieves but anyone who doesn't know them might think they hate each other because bodily threats is their main love language. Their dad has made the joke about the Cain Instinct being the only instinct those two know on more than one occasion. Rose is on the boxing team in addition to Casey being on the hockey team, so the twins are athletic, reckless as hell, and bisexual (Rose is canonical, Casey is headcanon).
When Casey first starts out on being a vigilante, it does not take long for Rose to find out and she demands that she join him. So now they're badass vigilantes, Casey even snuck her a goalie mask she promptly painted pink and black to match. They have a list of plans they've labeled via the alphabet, wherein one plan aliterates with a letter of the alphabet; i.e Plan F is Fuck It, We Ball, Plan K is Keep Away, and my personal favorite, Plan M is Molotov Cocktail.
Rose's main weapon are the brass knuckles she totally didn't smuggle into her room (/sar) but has borrowed her brother's baseball bat lol.
I can't stress this enough, because i'm Emo about it; just because they threaten bodily harm and insult each other on a daily basis does not mean they don't care about and love each other to their very souls. Yk how Rose is Fae? During season 2, the closer they get the Kraang invasion, the more Rose's powers start to act up, because they're responding to her big emotions and the stress that follows. So, during the farmhouse arc, she and Casey put in a bit more effort in trying to understand her magic. And in doing so, a few days before Leo wakes up from his coma (which, idk if you've talked about Van during Leo's coma, but I would love to hear about the angst that comes with it), Rose and Casey have a very emotionally vulnerable and intimate moment in that they well and truly spill their hearts out.
Casey, to me, is a reflection of Raph in that he's a protector. This boy loves his family to point where he's willing to do Violence to keep them safe. And that includes his twin, very much so. When she gets overstimulated to the point of a meltdown, or is understimulated to the point of floating away in the clouds, he is the rock that keeps her tethered and he likes it. Because it means he can make sure she's okay that much easier.
And Rose has always been a lover. She can be as sarcastic and playfully mean and petty as she wants, she loves with everything she's got. So naturally, she reflects Casey's love for her back to him. Just like how he's always in her corner when she needs it, albeit with a remark and a smug grin she immediately wants to smack off, she will always do the same for him. She wasn't born a Jones. She chose to be a Jones. And she makes that choice every single day. Casey will always be her brother, and will always be her twin. She can't think of a thing in the world that would break that.
And. During this moment. When they are baring their souls to each other after three months of worrying about their dad and little sister, being powerless to protect their city the way they wanted and unable to help one of their friends. Rose's magic reaches toward Casey's soul, the very thing that makes him who he is. And tethers it to hers. Bonding their souls for however long they are siblings. And as a physical marker of this, cause this is a Big Fucking Deal, they are given each other's eye color on their off-side. Rose's left eye turns brown, and Casey's right eye turns blue. And now that their souls are bonded, they not only have a better connection emotionally, but magically too. Because Rose inadvertently transferred some of her Fae magic to Casey.
Which of course is used for IMMENSE chaos. Poor Leo is so tired of their shit LMAO
(Also, I have to apologize for how long this ask is LMAO I have so many thoughts and concepts but these are the big ones so far (I've got a couple of concepts in the works 👀) and i love this au sm)
"She wasn't born a Jones. She chose to be a Jones. And she makes that choice every single day."
STOP RN- THIS MADE MY HEART CLENCH /POS
I LOVE THIS AU SM ALREADY !!!
I barely know Rose and yet she's won me over. I need more Rose & Casey content. AND- I wasn't expecting magic or the Fae being brought into a 2012 au but I AM SURE HERE FOR IT- THIS IS AWESOME!!!
Oh, and never apologise btw for long asks, theyre my favourite. i loved all of this sm, and i deffo wanna see what else u got in store :]]
(and yes, ive made a few posts regarding Van during Leo's coma ahah)
Poor Leo waking up, only to be met with these two whirlwinds of chaos lmaooo XD

3, 5, and 20 please!
Hi liz! I'm so sorry for the late reply, just saw this now <3
3. What were your top five books of the year?
One Last Stop by Casey Mcquiston: it takes first place because of how cute this is. Also because the characters were all written beautifully and it gives you this sense of comfort of happiness finding its way back to you through the threads of time. It reminds me of the poem to love someone is to attend a thousand funerals of the people they used to be.
Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones: a number of reasons why this was one of my top five, but mostly because it sort of reassures you that you don't have to be perfect to chase your happily ever after, or to doubt it. Cut up some suits, throw some weed killer because your heart skipped a beat, summon some ghoul bois because you're having a terrible hair day, it's life.
The Secret History by Donna Tartt: a book club read I enjoyed! It was a mess, but I loved it regardless. It was so intelligently written, and the mythological parallels, and how I had to go back to see the signs that she had thrown in the text just <3333 Made me fall out of love of the entire dark academia aesthetic though.
Devotions by Mary Oliver: a poetry collection for everyone. I've let so many people borrow it, and a lot of the poems I find myself going back to.
Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto: it counts because I picked it up again this year...twice :') it's just so full of tenderness and grief and familiarity that it's always going to be here. Love is stored in the kitchen is a sentiment that truly belongs with this book <3
5. What genre did you read the most of?
Horror ;-; I read and listened to a lot of horror genre from books to podcasts. Mexican Gothic, House of Leaves, Mabel, The White Vault, The Magnus Archives, The Antique Shop, The Mcllwraith statements, Among the stars and bones, Out of Sight, Red Valley, Alice isn't dead, Limetown to name a few. But most of them are podcasts, so I don't know if it counts or not.
20. What was your most anticipated release? Did it meet your expectations?
My most anticipated release would be Time is a mother by Ocean Vuong. Did it meet my expectations? Kind of. I love a lot of the poems in it, but maybe because I was expecting it to make me as vulnerable as Night sky with exit wounds had made me feel, it missed its mark? There are definitely a few poems that knock me out and leave me curled up on the floor, but a lot of them have certain lines that disrupt a lot of the sentimental flow. If that makes sense.
Regardless I loved it a lot. There were a lot of techniques I recognised and I liked the abruptness of some, and the reassurance of others. It's a lovely collection.
