Finland might be small and relatively unknown internationally for it's cinema but there are few exceptions. One of them is Finnish director @rennyharlin who is probably the most known commercial Finnish filmmaker in the world. Renny has had a long career in the industry in Finland, Hollywood and in China. His first feature lenght film 'Jäätävä polte - Born American' (1986) was a hit not only in Finland but it's also the most wide spread Finnish film in America. Because of that fame, Renny got his chance to direct a film in Hollywood. His first Hollywood film 'Prison' (1987) had some distribution problems but luckily a year later 'A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master' (1988) came out and was a huge success. After that Renny has worked with Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis, @allstallone - Sylvester Stallone, @jackiechan and Geena Davis to name a few. He almost directed Alien 3 but that did not came through but he made the second installment of Die Hard franchise and the fourth film in the Exorcist series. Now years later Renny has returned to Finland and he's making films here with his friend and colleague @selin.markus a Finnish producer and founder of a production company @solarchannel aka Solar Films. Immigrants in the Workforce

  The year was 1620 when the one of the first group of immigrants arrived in theUnited States of America. Now in 2017, 397 years after, immigrants are still coming tojoin the fun in the land of the free. Immigrants come here to work hard and get to enjoyall the great benefits that come with living in this country. But according to the presidentof the United States immigrant are “bad hombres”. Which isn’t the case. As of 2015 theUSA workforce was made up of 25 million foreign born immigrants. That makes upapproximately 16% of workers. And that was 2 years ago; the numbers could have risen alot by now. Not only do immigrants make up about 1/4th on the workforce they also havelower unemployment rate (4.6%) than native US born citizens (4.9%) Immigrants don’tjust come here to work a low-income job; they work extremely hard to make it to the top.Most immigrants are (23 percent) immigrants are in managerial and professionaloccupations. Just because foreign-born immigrants are in high position jobs doesn’t meanthat they didn’t have to work hard to get there. And even by working as hard as someimmigrants do, they still don’t make the same as native born employ would in the exactsame position as them. Immigrant’s weekly income is about $681. Native-bornAmericans earn $837 a week, according to Goldman Sometimes they have to work evenharder than someone born here.

    Valeria Rotholc came to Miami, FL when she was 32 years old from Argentina.Back in her home country Valeria was lawyer, but when she moved to Miami she had tostart from scratch. She had to go back to school so she can get back to defending people.“It felt weird going back to school at such an old age, everyone was so young and gettingstarted, while I’ve been practicing law for years.” 

     It is very common for immigrants who have a career, like being a doctor, lawyeror teacher, come to the US and have to start all over. Even though immigrants come here to get a better life, most of the time for financial reasons, they have to get whatever jobthey can to pay the bills. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to have theopportunity to go back to school so they can work in the same field as in their homecountry.

     Marc Ballart is a great example of someone who was not fortunate enough to goback to school. In his home country of Cuba, Marc was an engineer making up to50,000$ a year. That was lot for him on the island of Cuba. But once he moved to theUnited States he had to get a job as an uber driver. Even though he enjoys working as adriver he still misses having the income that came with being an engineer. But he knowsthat he has to work hard to be able to stay living in the United States. “It’s a price to payfor freedom, so I don’t have my comfy engineering job, but I don’t have to worry aboutmy safety anymore.”Immigrants come to the United States and instantly join the workforce.

    Contrary to Trump’s believes and speeches immigrants are lazy, criminals and murderers.They’re our doctors, police officers, teachers and more. Even though they are sometimesharassed for not being born here or aren’t paid as much a native born citizens, they don’tstop working hard to feed their families. Immigrants deserve a lot more credit than theydeserve. They have to overcome cultural differences, language barriers and financialstruggles. And somehow make it look easy.
