New to Me Games: boop. on BGA

Another abstract strategy game for the abstract strategy game gods!!

I’ve played this game a handful of times now and wow. It’s incredibly cute! The cat theme really works well for it. It’s another two player abstract strategy game (I seem to be on a two player abstract strategy game kick lately) (how many times can I say “abstract strategy game” in one post? lmao) where you’re placing kittens and cats on a quilt and “booping” / pushing the kittens and cats on the board around. You want to graduate kittens into cats by lining up three in a row of them, and then line up three cats in a row to win!

I can feel the strategic potential bleeding out of this one, I just need to play it more. I’m also interested in trying out the young player’s variant, which takes out the graduating kittens to cats entirely. I wonder if that would be a good way to get a hang of the game…!

Either way, really wanna try this one again soon. I’m also interested in BOOoop. after seeing a playthrough of it online—but sadly it’s not on BGA! It seems like a fun Halloween version of the game, but I don’t think I’ll be getting to play it in time for Halloween this year, haha.

But yeah, abstract strategy seems like my jam lately. I wonder how long it’ll take me to learn this game well enough to win it!

meanwhile, .... ! i am deep in mapping rehearsals for Callus,  studying and pouring thru my acting/theatre/drama library for the right questions (inspiration is a constant reaching and searching!!!!! go to IT!)

last night took some twists in the end, it was a crushed-up uncooked ramen-as-snack and a strawberry ice cream kind of night.

you know, the time is gonna come when i complete the month’s content calendar for art rat, finish the email newsletters, get my audiobook/ebook production schedule together, and finish writing my next play.

June was merciless and brilliant. a torrent of late nights working in art rat, getting a company together for Callus, organizing against the Pantages Theatre, re-evaluating my relationship to social media. listening, calling out, calling in, taking care of my own light and joy, and content creating my butt off, and redigging my toes into the dirt , to what’s important and what’s at stake today.

Truly, the best defense and offense is education combined with practice. i’m reading as much as i can and reflecting on my organizing capacities. and i still want to read more, and do more and there remain a mountain of books that feel urgent.

but a pit stop is a pit stop is necessary for all long treks. no matter where you are headed, how you are getting there - long trips need pit stops.

The bounce back game is strong!

there are five months left in the year. for these next five months,  i summon the eyes of a hawk the steady trail of the snail  and the tenacity of the worm.

i hone in on only absolute goals.  i keep to them like glue. i bend and dig as i need, to tap into a deeper place to move through the dark faithfully and softly.

So i started playing solmares story jar just for this niflheim story because for those who didn't know because I've never mentioned it before here the niflheim is actually my favourite shall we date game, and because sadly I was late to the party I started playing it after it became completely dead in which case Solmare if you're reading this PLEASE REVIVE YOUR OLD GAMES FOR REAL AND STOP MAKING NEW ONES.
