The blind child slowly start to wake up and whimper to feel their body is sore all around and hear faint voices from all around yet dripping of water that echo out. The child forces themselves slowly to get up to stand up but grab their left arm to feel a shot of pain but the child focus on walking in one direction in hopes of finding their family and the more they walk the more their body feel sore but their ears wiggle to hear footsteps and a young voice calling and they know that voice and smile.
Wind: blind!!! Were are you?!!
Blind: wind!- big brother wind!! Ober here! Ah!
The child try to walk again but trip on a rock and fall hard on the ground as the footsteps that belongs to wind is running to were blind is. Once wind ran over and see blind on the ground he ran over to help them up and check them over yet is hug them close to.
Wind: blind! Your safe!-
Wind stop to see blind left arm and knows it's broken but he tears up glad that their okay. Wind place his hand on their cheek as the child relax to be near their big brother.
Wind: blind....your arm is broken....I have to-
A roar goes through the whole cave tunnel and wind and blind turn to were the roar is but wind bring blind behind him to protect his already injured little silbing as he pull his sword out.
Wind: what was that? We have to find the others.
Wind carefully grab blind hand to walk them away from were the roar came from in order to find the chain but do to the cave tunnel it's hard to find them and worse theirs monsters in this tunnel.
Wind see that there electronic slime monsters block their way and wind tsk, he have to think of a way to defend them while keep blind safe due to their condition.
Wind: just when we are looking for the group, this happens.
(..... Believe it or not- this has nothing to do with the other one.... unless it does and you didn't specify and I happened to read your mind weeks later because I did not read these until I answered them ^.^*)
Wind bite his tongue, catching himself before the a curse leaves his mouth. It's not something he's used to doing but ever since the child has joined the group, the other guys have been even more on his case about it. He finds himself doing it subconsciously now.
He stays put and tries to look through his weapons to see if there's anything that he can particularly use against the electric monster that block them. Wind doesn't want to get any closer than he has to. Part of him fears that the child would follow him blindly- no pun intended.
Or if something were to sneak past Wind's defenses and strike the child? The child wouldn't know what hit them.... literally. Goodness, what is on his mind right now?
Welp, he still has his boomerang and his hammer. He can stun them all relatively at once then smash them all. It's not as long range as he'd like it to be but it give both of them a fighting chance.
"Stay here, kid." He pats their head. "I got this."

So I started a master mode melee terraria playthrough a week ago
To quote myself from last week:

And so they did. Most of the first few hours of this were spent running from enemies, hiding from enemies and waiting to respawn. It was particularly difficult spawning on a windy day. I've never seen those dang dandelions before but they were the bane of my life.

I seem to keep making underground bases, and I happened to spawn near a nice cave so I knew what I had to do.

In master mode you drop all your coins in your inventory, so it took me absolutely ages to even save up for a piggy bank.
After a while I was finally able to start getting some good weapons. I got an exotic scimitar after the dye trader had a tragic accident with some boulders I placed. I found a mace from a chest which turned out to be really strong once I crafted it into a flaming mace. I was even able to buy a katana from the travelling merchant. But things didn't start getting much easier until I got my hands on an ice boomerang. I'd originally gone down there looking for an ice blade but this got the job done too. I was finally able to mine in a bit more peace and get full gold armor.
I decided some basic jungle stuff would be good to get next so I set up a house in the jungle to save time getting back when I had to respawn/magic mirror out.

So I was almost done with this base. I'd gone back and grabbed a piggy bank when I got yet another "evil presence watching you" notification. I did what I'd done with the last few and fled to the underground to stop the eye spawning. I gathered a few more jungle spores and stingers, and noticed I had quite a lot of money on me so, thinking it was late enough to go back to the surface, I went back up. I'd just plonk my piggy bank down and deposit my money.
I was wrong. The eye was on me as soon as I got up. There was no chance of placing the piggy bank so I began my mad dash back to my main base. I ran through the forest, through the desert and through another forest. I was able to safely deposit my money, so now there were no consequences to fighting back.
It was almost 4AM by the time it finished me off. I didn't have the DPS to do it yet. So I got back to farming stuff in the jungle. I got an amazon yoyo. I also fought my way through my first blood moon in the world but then lost the 4 gold I'd got from it dying stupidly right before the night ended. The zombie swarm I'd decided to fight picked up all my stuff and promptly despawned. I was getting stronger though. Especially with my new thorn chakram. I'd just need to set up a nice skybridge and I'd be good to go for king slime. A bit more grinding couldn't hurt, though.
I was back getting more spores, vines and stingers when I got the message again. "Frick it," I decided. "Let's see how low I can get it with my new stuff." So I magic mirrored back to the tree, deposited my money in the piggy bank, had a coffee for the plenty satisfied buff, swapped out my accessories for maximum speed and waited for it to show up.
Once again, the boss roared to life and I began to run back to the world spawn, making sure to stay a bit closer to it this time so I could continually pelt it with my thorn chakram. About halfway through the desert I decided to try pulling out my yoyo for some damage, and boy did it shred through the thing. It hit its second form as I arrived back at my base, and it wasn't even halfway through the night.
The second phase was intense. I stayed near my base to avoid zombies, but it was still difficult evading some of its chain dashes. I just kept hitting it with my yoyo when I could, and the NPCs in the base helped a bit too.
Its health was getting lower and lower, but its dashes were getting faster and faster. I couldn't aim with my yoyo any more. I was only getting in one or two hits per series of dashes. There was no way I'd get it before it got me. I swapped back to the thorn chakram. That seemed to hit it more, and of course there was the poison debuff too.
It hit 200 health and started dashing like mad. There was no evading it anymore. I had to kill it before it killed me. It hit 100 health. I hit 50. I kept throwing. It kept charging. I was one hit away from death. I was going to lose. I was so close.
Turns out it was only one hit away from death too, and I hit first.
That was probably the most intense eye of cthulhu fight I've had in terraria ever. One of the more intense boss fights too. It was dead fun though. I guess my skybridge will be built with plant pots all the way through! I think it's probably a good time to grab a slime hook, and try and smash a shadow orb so I can get the goblin next. Especially since I already have everything I need for lightning boots.

Pitch: What if Link traded his sword for a broom?
My expectations: If I'm not mistaken, the Anodyne series is well regarded. I've played a chunk of both games and liked this one better than its sequel, but I still found it underwhelming. Were my first impressions correct, or will it finally win me over today?
Review:
In the original The Legend of Zelda, protagonist Link stabbed Zols and Kees with a sword.

Anodyne’s protagonist, Young, stabs slimes and bats with a broom. Not, like, the sharpened handle of a broom. He just walks up to monsters and stabs them with bristles.

All subsequent, top-down Zelda games had Link swing his sword in an arc, which not only looked less awkward than the slow stab, but added nuance to combat. I won’t go into a thorough analysis of Zelda combat through the ages, but while I’ll concede that cloning the first game’s basic sword attack is a valid choice, it’s an odd one. It worked in that game because the sword was one of many tools, meant to be used in concert with shields, boomerangs, and bombs. The sword could shoot laser swords.

In my time with Anodyne, Young picked up keys, health pips, and eventually a pair of jumping boots. I explored vast swaths of the world, conquering dungeon after dungeon, and everywhere I went, I stabbed the same slimes and bats with the same broom.

It’s a dreary, wearying slog, tragically devoid of nuance and wonder.
+ On rare occasions, fighting monsters, solving puzzles, and collecting keys in a dungeon creates a sense of progress, and a fleeting glimmer of Zelda magic shines on Anodyne. + In addition to functioning as a broom, the broom can be...a broom. Puzzles that involve sweeping up dust and depositing it elsewhere are generally successful. + Simple controls. + Occasionally gets dark and weird. More of that, please!
– If you're ripping off Zelda, rip off Zelda! Where are all the items? – To quote that Zelda commercial, "Which? Way? To? Go?" I want to get a little lost in a game like this, but give me some direction. The map and the fast-travel system are invaluable, but they're not at all user friendly. – Combat stinks. Movement is generally is slow and clunky. – Miserable music that sucks all the joy out of adventuring. If the rest of the game were oppressively depressing, maybe it would work. Instead we have a light, goofy, broom-stabbing Zelda adventure that's determined not to have any fun.

Good FREAKEN evening Tony! Played any viddy games recently?
good FREAKEN evening anon! recently i replayed DQ Heroes: Rocket Slime! which is possibly one of my favorite games of all time and is DEF a comfort game. (Funnily, I've never played any other dragon quest game. At all. lmao.) It's like the perfect DS game. it's mostly a casualish action game but has a huge jrpg feel to it. tank battles have a lot of variety of gameplay styles (this time I went shield and boomerang heavy). grinding items in it is just brain numbing enough that it's perfect for watching something in the background. If anyone wants to play something one-of-a-kind, I'd reccomend *cough* ...purchasing a copy.

Yeah, but 'walrus rules' isn't a set of rules for walruses, it's more of a, well, how to put this?
I'll explain it this way:
You're just walking along. A wet halibut, small, weighing only about 50 lbs, whacks you in the back of your neck, sending you toppling comically over a bush.
Your several extensively dictated coffees spray forth in a multi-hued wave of doubly wasted effort, the drink caddy strained beyond tolerances. Your head whacks into the lamp post, not hard enough to injure, but hard enough to create a loud, bell-like ring as the hollow metal post reverberates. The halibut bounces off you, landing with an almost cartoonish "splat."
With that sound, a simple act of piscine assault transforms into a display of Clouseauian humiliation that robs you of both dignity and the whole carpool's morning caffeine. Slime drips down your bruised spine. Four coffees intricately and uniquely prepared to taste almost exactly the same swirl down the stormdrain along with the thirty bucks they represent.
You lift your head in bafflement, half-concussed, to see a convertible with the top down, a walrus waves a second boomerang-like fish in one flipper, and bellows "WALRUS RULES!" before the vehicle peels out into the distance, the elf behind the wheel turning only to give you the finger.
Your report to the police is unappreciated.

I love metal hands as much as I hate them. At first I thought they were metal like metal dragon slimes, but nope, they’re metal like metal slimes. When they’re not busy spamming Whack, they’re fleeing at 2 HP. I’ve still managed to kill a fair few, though, and that 34k EXP sure is sweet. I’m very glad I gave El dual-wielding earlier, but I still need Erik and his double boomerang + metal wing back.
Also I just need Erik back. I miss him…

Week 8
This week focused on a new team assignment. We were to come up with a complete design and prototype on Gdevelop that's playable and has in-depth gameplay to some extent.
The team inspected the previous individual assignments we did and decided to build a platformer game as it was easier and more viable in terms of its completeness.
Settings: A cowboy who uses boomerang travels to a dungeon to save his peer Bill ("adapted from our group member Ellen's assignment 2 idea").
I think it's a bit odd but boomerang is a good idea as it has two travel tracks in the designer's aspect.
Idea: the player has three attack methods corresponding to different enemies (yes, similar to what I had in the week 2 blog, a counter-chain mechanic).
Weapons:
Boomerang (pierces through enemies and return, deals light damage twice)
Sword (Breaks after five hits, effective towards spiders (I kind of took this from Minecraft's enchantment "Bane of Arthropods")
Molotov Cocktail (yes, it's pretty weird to have a Molotov cocktail on a cowboy's hand while he's in the dungeon)
Enemies:
Spider (weak against sword)
Slime (weak against Molotov cocktails)
Skeleton (weak against boomerang)
Meanwhile, skeletons are expected to have longer hitboxes so players don't use swords to attack skeletons. A similar design applies to the other two mobs.
Terrain and Biome: ● Spikes ● Webs (Slows the player) ● Fire pit/trap ● Arrow trap ● Trap doors
We didn't put much effort or time into the Part A submission as other assignments are due at the same time. I think the game's playability seems pretty mediocre, it definitely needs to extend in terms of uniqueness and having positive feedback points.
