How do you feel about trilogies? Here’s a stack of some of my favorite trilogies, including the excellent, but little known, Boy Nobody books. I am not a big fan of cliffhangers, but a book can have an open-ish ending and still be enjoyable. I liked the way Bracken’s titles worked in her Darkest Mind trilogy (The Darkest Minds Never Fade In The Afterlight) Some trilogies start off great and then have a big dropoff, like Neuvel’s Sleeping Giants. And some like Greg Iles’s Natchez Burning books make you wish for more. Iles’s trilogy is 2300 pages but it is great writing and a great story. Two other great trilogies not pictured are The Foundation Trilogy by Isaac Asimov and the Fall of Giants trilogy from Ken Follett - more big books but well worth your time. Day 4 of Indiecember Alright now it's time to continue with Indiecember with books I've read and then follow them with books waiting in my TBR still. First up is the Thanatos trilogy by @tyffany.h This is a YA/NA Epic Fantasy, and it's complete! My brief review of the first book: The story started out a bit slower paced than what I was expecting, but it was thrilling none the less. I love the main character Natylia and her friends and I would TOTALLY love to live in this wonderfully detailed world. I'm not kidding how do I get to Araenna haha! Because of what went on in the first book I have such much to worry about for Natylia and her friends and I can't wait to read what happens next. I'm 2 books in and one more to go and OH BOY! Things are SERIOUSLY about to go down. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT! Good thing I have book 3 hehe. Esa era una de las partes más importantes de ser detective: no perder de vista el arma.» La mano en la pared (Maureen Johnson) 🕵️‍♀️ Esta tercera parte, como toda la trilogía, me ha gustado mucho. Es una historia muy entretenida, con una gran dosis de misterio, mezclada con relaciones personales, además entre adolescentes, con lo que todo ello conlleva en cuanto a dudas, miedos y sentimientos. Además de tratar el tema de la ansiedad de la mano de la protagonista, lo que me parece muy acertado, porque es algo que existe y que es bueno representar en una historia que realmente no va sobre eso. También me ha gustado mucho cómo se resuelve, las sorpresas que nos llevamos y el ir descubriéndolo todo, porque creo que está muy bien conseguido. Stevie es un personaje muy inteligente, que lucha por lo que quiere, aunque se burlen de ella o la menosprecien por ello, y el resto lo mismo, dejándonos ver lo complicado que es a veces cumplir las expectativas que el resto tiene de nosotros, como le ocurre a Nate y su libro. Es un thriller que nos ofrece ciertas dosis de romance, sin ser lo más importante ni caer demasiado en ello, y que a mí es una de las cosas que más me ha gustado, lo reconozco, y que os recomiendo, obviamente, igual que hice con los dos anteriores. BOOK REVIEW: Northern Lights by Philip Pullman . So I pushed myself to read this before the tv series came out, and I’m not disappointed. I fully understand now why this is such a classic. I have fallen in LOVE with Lyra and Pan, and also Iorek! It’s one of those books where you’re instantly hooked, no having to ‘get into the story the first 100 pages’ I saw that this series made the BBC’s 100 most inspiring books list, and I haven’t even finished the series and already agree. Honestly the only let down is that I didn’t order the whole series in one go, so now I have to wait until the other 2 books arrive before I get to meet Will! . If you had a dæmon, what animal would it be? I like to think mine would be something like a hedgehog! 🦔 . P.S. please no spoilers for the tv show!
