El segundo libro de la saga Reckless, una aventura desarrollada en un mundo fantástico a través de un espejo, donde esta vez nuestro protagonista, Jacob Reckless, intenta encontrar la cura a una maldición consecuencia de las aventuras del libro anterior, y al igual que el primer libro, acompañaremos a un buen numero de personajes a una carrera contra reloj, con muchos peligros y cosillas/criaturas mágicas en el camino.

Y bueno, como hace meses que había leído el libro 1, no es sorpresa que no recordara mucho de lo ocurrido ni a algunos personajes 😅, lo bueno es que este libro se encarga de recordarte un poco lo que sucedió para que el lector no se sienta tan perdido, sin dejar de lado esa esencia enigmática y peligrosa que tiene ese mundo mágico y, por supuesto, con más referencias a los cuentos de hadas que no dejaron de sorprenderme 🤩.

Los personajes siguen siendo igual de geniales, los nuevos realmente fueron singulares, quizá Zorro (Fox) mostró mucha vulnerabilidad a comparación con el primer libro, pero para esta trama, era necesario. Esta vez mi personaje preferido fue un antagonista, Nerron, siendo el rival de Jacob, me ha gustado bastante el paralelismo entre ambos a lo largo de los capítulos 👏.

Y al igual que el libro anterior, el ritmo de la historia es rápido, no se desvía de los acontecimientos principales, van contando las consecuencias en el mundillo luego de lo sucedido en el libro 1 y, al mismo tiempo, cuentan parte de su pasado histórico, demuestra ser un mundo muy bien construido, la verdad; Ademas de tener muchos detallitos mágicos (en serio, me recuerda tanto a los detallitos que hay en ‘hora de aventura’ pero menos infantiles y chistosos) .

Había olvidado lo mágico que es la prosa de la autora, sentir que se lee poco y se avanza un montón, me enganchó y emocionó muchísimo, sobre todo por ese final tan AAAHH💥, estoy encantada, ya quiero leer el siguiente libro 🙌.

*phew!* . After almost three weeks of having this book with me, I have finally finished reading the story. . This time around, I kept on reminding myself to stop focusing on the #JesperWylan tandem and pay more attention to the going-on in the novel. Oh boy, was I glad that I did. . This book has a lot of excitement and mystery with bittersweet tones woven into it as the story progresses. . It’s exciting and puzzling at the same time because the plots that Kaz Brekker makes in the story will make your brain think and will surprise you every single time. . It is bittersweet in the sense that some beloved characters, unfortunately, died in the end, which makes you love and hate the author at the same time. . Finally! After weeks of having this book with me almost wherever I go, I have finally finished reading it. . I don’t know, but there is something about this book that doesn’t click with me, and yet I can’t seem to put it aside and list it on my “Did Not Finish” pile. . Maybe because I wanted to read more about how the homoromantic relationship between Jesper and Wylan bloomed (which is one of the reasons I picked this series) than how the story of the heist that the gang would be doing would go, or perhaps I wanted to read more action and fighting scenes than read the backstories of each character. . Boy, what a busy week we’ve had, and because of that, I almost didn’t have that much time to continue reading this book at night. . The story of the Effigies continues in this book. This time around, secrets are slowly revealed and the protagonists cannot trust the organization they’re working for, even each other. . Full of puzzles, mystery, and betrayal, this book is a must-read for lovers of magical girls. . P.S. People are saying that this series feels like Sailor Moon meets Pacific Rim, but for me, it feels like the love child of W.I.T.C.H., Power Rangers, and Hunger Games. I cannot put this book down. Heck, I even tried fighting my sleepiness during my transit rides just to keep on reading this one. . It’s either because of how refreshing the way the story was written or I am simply amazed that the author has a Ph.D. in English, but either way, I was sucked into the world of the Effigies and the phantoms they fight and kill and mysteries they solve. . Unlike the other stories where people get their supernatural or elemental abilities because of genes, the protagonists in this series got theirs because they were randomly chosen by their predecessors—including the memories that they and their predecessors have. It’s like the Avatar meets the Hunger Games. . Note to self: never try finishing a series on your birthday week. . Honestly, it took me more than a week just to finish this book. I have been busy most of the time and cannot simply find some time just sit down on open the excitement on these pages. . More poignant and more exciting than the last two, the story of Alina Starkov ended in this book. Every single page makes the reader want to know what would happen next and what questions would finally be answered. .
