This is a blog post from one of our interns Cedar, who took part in our Pioneer Teen program this past summer: "The symbol, star, caught my attention because of how prevalent starts are in our lives. No matter what our lives may look or, or where we are in the world, we all look up at the same sky. Who knows how many other people are looking up at the same star as you in the same exact moment. Stars leave me with a feeling of interconnectedness, no matter how differing my life and my experiences may be from someone else's. We still share the same sky and the same stars." So my third semester starts here at Khio, National Academy of art in Oslo. This semester I am challenged to approach my work more academically, which definitely is my weakest point, but I’m here to learn, not impress. And it’s definitely good for me.
This semester I have two goals only: learning the technique of photolithography, and practicing connecting my work to external influences by research.
I have one spesific topic in mind, but don’t want to share it online just yet, because I am uncertain in how to approach such a sensitive topic. I have been hungry for knowledge about it for long, and that’s a good place to start.
So im starting with looking for connections between Archetypes symbology, Greek mythology and trauma treatment, looking for a way to visualize my sensitive topic.

*#hellofaquestion #thebeastandthefalseprophet #bookofsymbols* Doesn’t Revelation 20:10 talk about the beast and false prophet being tormented forever in the lake of fire? (http://ChristianityOriginal.com/Gehenna) We know this verse is *full of symbols* (There is a beast!). The previous verse Rev 20:9 shows individuals who join Satan being destroyed in fire. So this Rev 20:10 *doesn’t refer to humans.* The *beast* stands for the *political powers* of the world - governments and authorities. The *false prophet* represents false *religious systems.* Read more: http://ChristianityOriginal.com/Gehenna https://www.facebook.com/ChristianityOriginal/photos/a.763724020337694/2512321982144547/?type=3

I'm Zephan, I'm an intern at ARAS, and I'm very interested in symbols, dreams, consciousness, and art that portrays those things. I feel like dreams can act as a sort of portal into the unconscious, showing us our true unfiltered emotions and what we would call the soul. Henry Fuseli's The Nightmare is one particular work that caught my attention for the way it represents dreams. The expressions of the figures and the lighting depicted show a specific feeling and add to the atmosphere which isn't exactly "scary" as much as simply surreal. Here are some highlights of the past six months of the ARAS Pioneer Teen Internship. Some of our activities have included free draws (including the exquisite corpses above) and free writing to free up to the subconscious mind for creative activities, we also learned coptic book binding, visited the New York Public Library’s Picture Collection, and learned about the day to day activities of the archive.
