Strange the Dreamer
Tumblr media
Dates read: 07/22/24 - 08/08/24
“He wasn’t an alchemist, or a hero. He was a librarian, and a dreamer. He was a reader, and the unsung expert on a long-lost city no one cared a thing about.” • It’s a rare treat to read a book that is unlike anything I’ve ever encountered before. I could go on and on about the impacts this story had on my fundamental understanding of craft. How the lyrical prose and intricate world building were but a few things that cemented this as a perfect five star read. But if I did then this post would be entirely too long.
Instead, when you go to pick this one up, I recommend knowing as little as possible and enjoying the dream. • E’s rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

My brain is too fried for book reviews, but I wanted to post something, so here's my latest #bookhaul instead 😅 I don't buy many physical books, but when I do, they're almost always Filipino-authored ones. May naligaw na Japanese-translated book, pero I have my eye on that title for a while and nagsale si Fully Booked kaya pinatos ko na. --- Musta naman kayo? ü What have you been reading lately?

"Saints of Storm and Sorrow weaves an unforgettable journey into a world where gods walk among mortals and even the quietest whispers can spark a revolution. The thrilling action and complex characters provide a springboard from which Buba masterfully delves into the nuanced relationship between the colonizers and the colonized. Lush, vibrant, and spellbinding—this folklore-inspired fantasy gripped my imagination (and my heart) from the beginning and never let it go." Kyla Zhao, author of Valley Verified and The Fraud Squad
A great blurb from the lovely @kylajzhao Author of the Fraud Squad and Valley Verified, I couldn’t be happier to have a friend like you in my corner, yelling about each other’s stories at midnight will be something I always cherish. Publishing is such an arduous journey with a dozen ups and downs and I don’t know where I’d be without amazing authors like you always ready to cheer on the successes of others.
