On 1 April 2016, a devastating fire at the Faculty Center of the UP College of Arts and Letters resulted in the loss of irreplaceable items that held immense sentimental value to me. The destroyed items were the original copies of all my diplomas, from grade school to my Ph.D. In addition, my books and other publications, medals, trophies, plaques, and certificates were all gone in the blaze.
The fire also consumed my library, which contained souvenirs from my travels and studies overseas. Books, journals, newspapers, magazines, family portraits, photo albums with friends and students, blue books, drafts and papers of former students (since 1988!), and other memorabilia that held memories were reduced to ashes. Among the lost items were an antique narra trunk that belonged to my maternal grandmother and art nouveau narra chairs from my paternal grandparents.
The fire also claimed posters and invitations from plays where many students had been involved with theater groups like Dulaang UP, UP Repertory Company, UP Tropa, and UP Playwrights Theatre (among them, Kanakan Balintagos, Eugene Domingo, Frances Makil-Ignacio, Lani Sumalinog, and Buddy Zabala, who, with the other members of The Eraserheads, took part in Kanakan’s Manhid at Palma Hall Lobby). I also lost personal copies of invites to launch books from Anvil, Bookmark, Giraffe, Kalikasan, New Day, UP, Ateneo, DLSU, and UST publishing houses. A long table from my late father's library and sketches, paintings, and other artworks created by friends, colleagues, and former students from the UP College of Fine Arts (among them, Leo Abaya, Virginia Dandan, Neil Doloricon, Alexis Galvez, Sajid Imao, Maningning Miclat, Anthony Palomo, Annie Pacaña) were also lost in the fire.
The destruction of archival data from my research projects, as well as book gifts from mentors and friends, added to the overwhelming loss. The CAL Faculty Center, which was not just a workplace but a place of creativity and community and home to many National Artists, Palanca winners, and highly acclaimed figures, is gone. Since 2016, my colleagues and I have not had a designated physical space to write, read, prepare lectures, upgrade our expertise, and connect with students, colleagues, and guests from other academic units, universities, and institutions.
The fire's aftermath has left me grappling with unanswered questions about its cause and the extent of the damage. The absence of permanent offices and incubation spaces for CAL teachers, artists, researchers, and staff members is a bitter realization. Despite the loss, I am grateful for the memories and experiences housed within the Faculty Center, and I will carry them with me as I navigate this new chapter without a physical space to call my own.
However, In addition to the individual impacts on our work and well-being, the absence of designated faculty offices and incubation spaces since 2016 has profoundly affected the overall sense of community within our college. The lack of shared spaces where we can come together, brainstorm ideas, and collaborate on projects has resulted in a noticeable decrease in interactions and partnerships among faculty members.
This isolation from one another has created a disconnect within our college community, hindering our ability to work together effectively. As a result, our capacity to engage in creative and research projects has been significantly compromised. Without these essential spaces for collaboration, we are unable to fully leverage the diverse expertise and talents of our colleagues, ultimately limiting our potential for innovation and growth.
CAL urgently needs more than just administrative offices. We require dedicated spaces to facilitate and enhance our ability to work together, fostering a more vibrant and collaborative environment. By providing us with the necessary infrastructure and resources, we can better compete with other institutions locally and globally, ensuring our continued success and relevance in the academic community.

12 Hacks to make your relocation hassle-free with movers and packers!
Home relocation is a complex and burdening process, regardless of the fact that you have been doing it for the 50th time or for the first time. Every time you do it, you regret it unless you have connected with Agarwal packers and movers to seek assistance. They offer a complete range of packing and moving services to meet almost all kinds of shipments whether it is a domestic, international, car, pets, or any other.
Tumblr media
Besides this many of you might fail while executing a move, the reason behind is the absence of planning and organization of the moving tasks. So, here today in this article, I am sharing a few effective hacks that will certainly make your relocation a healthy affair.
Here it goes:
Make notes
Relocation has numerous tasks and responsibilities attached to it which at times lets you forgot few important tasks that you need to perform therefore, to keep the record and make sure that you forgot nothing start taking notes. Write each thing and maintain a computerized record as it will help you keep things much safer in comparison to taking notes in a diary. Also, papers can be lost that may give you a headache.
Sort the articles out
Make a list of the items that you wish to take along, discard, sell out. Avoid adding any extras in your list as it will ultimately cover larger space in the transportation vehicle along with few extra expenses. Therefore, keep the size of the consignment limited.
Create a budget
Get the idea of the moving expenses online if you are moving for the first time, you may be aware in case you have moved your home earlier. Frame a budget based on the same and make sure you have adequate funds available otherwise it is recommended to arrange them beforehand.
Start planning further
Secondly, finalize your destination place and know the rules and regulations of the country or state you are planning to settle in. This will help you to easily cope up at a new place with all regards.
Moving your beloved pets
If you have any pet and want to take it along with you at your new place then you must go through the rules and regulations applicable in that particular country. Also, consult the specialists before finalizing your decision to relocate your pet along.
Collect essential documents
Before leaving your older place, do not forget to collect your prescriptions, certificates, your kid’s documents from their school, and other essential papers. Keep them in a separate folder that you will be carrying along all the while.
Book a professional
To make sure that you experience a successful move, look for moving experts. Search for various companies online and shortlist at least two companies that you think are best amongst them.
Tips to opt for the right company:
Gather as much as information you can by surfing through the official websites of both the companies.
Check ratings and read reviews posted by other customers.
Keep an eye on their social media platforms and read the comments posted by people.
Ensure they have proper licensing and certifications.
Know about the services along with the prices that they charge for offering them.
Inspect the transportation vehicles and check what all safety amenities they have enabled for their customers.
Know about the customer support offered.
Keep an eye on the cost computation techniques along with the factors considered.
After, the examination has been completed for both the companies from your side ask for the price quotations from both of them according to the articles that you want to move. Later, opt for the one which you think completely fits in your budget.
 8. Decide your moving day
Consider all the relevant factors such as verify from your workplace, talk to your family members, and then finalize a final date to relocate. After deciding, inform the same to your moving partners so that they can make the preparations accordingly.
Notify utilities
Utility services such as gas, water, electricity, internet, etc play a major role while relocating, thus do not forget to inform you about your moving plan to the service providers. Ask them to cancel the subscriptions with effect from the decided day to relocate.
Get the address updated
Once your new residence is finalized, get that address updated at all the places including banks and other legal documents. Also, let your relatives know about your new house.
Keep a check at your new place
After you have completed all the tasks related to your move there is still something essential that has been left behind and that thing is the condition of the new home in which you are planning to settle. Have you checked the arrangements there yet? If no then you must keep an eye on the arrangements and another important stuff present there. Try to speak to the service providers there to get the gas, water, internet, electricity, and other connections. Make sure you got these facilities before time. This will help you make things simpler for you as well as your family.
Throw a farewell
Once all the tasks have been completed by you throw a farewell party for your near and dear ones. Plan it before your moving day as it will give you a long-lasting effect of fun and entertainment.
Take a final home tour and re-examine everything once again, look into every room because a single mistake can cause huge destruction to your overall shifting plan. If you are confused then it is better to seek help from any of your family members or friend who have some kind of moving experience in his/her past life.

Interview with a Queen “groupie”
Cross-posted to AO3. I encourage you to leave any comments you have there.
---
I compiled this interview following a long email exchange with J, a very sweet lady who went to Ealing Art School between 1972 and 1974. She knew all four members of Queen personally and was part of their larger circle of friends.
First off, you may find this hard to believe. I don’t blame you. But I assure you I’m not pulling your leg. As well as the pictures I share in this post, I have seen current pictures of J (which I will not share to protect her privacy). There is no indication as far as I am aware that she isn’t who she says she is.
Nastally, hold up. How exactly did you find this lady?
She found me. It turns out that she has been following my story Dawn of Aquarius for quite some time. The story is set in 1969. A lot of research about the era went into it, because I wanted to portray that time period - and Freddie’s and Roger’s surroundings - as accurately and realistically as I possibly could. That was what drew J in. She tells me it brought back a lot of memories for her. One of the reasons I love DoA so much is the nostalgia, she says, which genuinely means the world to me. Eventually, she talked to me in the comment section. Of course, I freaked out!
And then, I asked her for an interview, to which she replied: I will give it a go, but you must remember that I am 65 and there were great drugs in the 70s, and at 16, away from home, I had a lot!
And so...
Here’s what is IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND when you read this interview.
These are one woman’s 50-year-old memories and subjective impressions. J has been incredibly kind to let me pick her brain, trying to recall everything as best as she can. In her own words:
Just remember that when I answer the questions, it is from a 16-year-old who is 9 years younger than Freddie and a little girl with no family and friends in a strange country trying to fit in. The only reason I was there, was because some hippie thought I had a unique art style.
---
Tumblr media
J as a teenager.
[I have edited the interview together from our long, and somewhat messy at times, email exchange. Typos have been fixed and some punctuation added for clarity, but I have not changed anything J has written to me. Again, bear in mind these are personal opinions and impressions.]
Tumblr media
So, J, how did you end up at Ealing Art School in 1972 and what was it like?
This was the painting done for the Australian school-leaving certificate.
It placed first and gave me a scholarship. I could pick France, the USA or England. As a dual citizen of the UK, the choice was easy. The scholarship paid for board and fees, so had to be and sell whatever for spending money.
Tumblr media
This picture is from the dorm. We all had a 10pm curfew and a very thick rule book that, I am proud to say, I broke every one of them, one by one. The rooms were on the 1st and 2nd floor. We were on the first floor, rooms one side and admin staff the other end. We had two bathrooms for 18 girls. One of them had two baths. The walls were your standard half wall, so it was a given that if you had a bath you run the risk of having a bucket of cold water dropped on you. Downstairs was the kitchen and lounge room.
I want to ask you a few things about life in London in the early 70s, to get a picture of what it was really like. For example, was there alcohol at the music gigs you went to?
If it was a school, church or community hall, no. If it was a pub, yes.
Did you and your friends drink as much then as young people tend to drink now when you all went out?
No, we didn't. I think it had a lot to do with money. We didn't have the disposable income, and it was unheard of to still be living at home with the parents after the age of 20.
Was weed and LSD as big and easily accessible as depictions of the 60s and 70s would have us believe?
The drugs! Got to have drugs. Pot (weed) was easy to grow, very cheap. Used to smoke it in bongs rather than joints, more bang for your buck. Trips [LSD] were cheap, I think. About 2 pounds and you were on the high for over 24 hours with no sleep. My drug of choice was hash. Either the oil or the block. It was a nice high, but you could not function well. But if you listen to the music of the time it really does reflect what it was like, to have a group of friends over for a session. Having said all that the most outlandish and shocking drug I ever saw anyone use was the birth control pill. Didn't you have to hide that stuff away?!
Can you tell us some 70s slang that isn’t really in use anymore? What in the world does “ultra-blagging” mean? (As written in a letter penned by Freddie to his friend Celine in 1969.)
Abso-bloody-lootely!
Man, I thought I was the bees knees to be on a scholarship in London. But that didn't stop me from jigging or having a skive day. They were the days that I blagged my way into a pub, had too many lagers and ended up chundering in the gutter. That was how you knew your night was ace. I would get a right bollocking if anyone found out. It would be a bugger when all that you could find at a car boot sale was chavtastic, but sometimes you could be Jammy Dodger and tickety-boo you find something brilliant. Bob's your uncle. Anyways, I need to see a man about a dog.
[It seems to me that J uses a bit of Australian slang here, like chundering, which makes sense because she is, after all, Australian. She also provided the translation:]
Cheers
J
It would be my honour.
I felt very privileged to be given a scholarship that let me study in England. But being so young and having no family to guide me, it was often tempting to not turn up or give a false excuse for being sick. (I had a lot of food poisoning). These would often happen if the night before I had been drinking beer and ended up vomiting outside the pub. But in my young mind that was a good night. If any of the teachers found me drinking I would be in a lot of trouble. Often I would have to say I was holding it for someone else. Not having much clothes with me, I would buy them second hand from church jumble sales or other students and, yes, Kensington market (the market). Some of the stuff would not be very tasteful or in good condition. But sometimes you would find something that was cheap and in good condition. I will stop this text now as I must go to the toilet.
PS: Ultrablagging sounds very Freddie. Blagging was used, but not ultra, meaning to persuade someone to do something or act better than you are. They were always rock stars.
Sincerely
J
[It was at this point that I realised I was talking to an absolute legend. She also told me then that the majority of her old photographs had sadly been lost when her house was flooded in 1988, including most of the photographs from her stay in London. Noooo! :(]
When you went out to dance, did you have only live music? Were there DJs yet?
You know, that is hard. We did not have a DJ. Sometimes there would be a band. Often we looked for places with a band or the jukebox. I think pubs closed at 10pm and some stayed open to 12 or 1, but public transport stopped at 9. So if you had not arranged a lift then you had to make the last bus. Most of the time we would be heading back to someone's place to get stoned and then crash there. In the morning you would have to work out where you were. When I got back to Australia, the discos were all the rage. They could have been in London too but it was not cool to like disco.
How many people would show up to Queen’s gigs when they played in pubs or at, for example, the Imperial College?
Depending on the location and the night: 10 to 1000!
So how did you first meet the Queen boys?
I was at the pub talking about a band we saw last week when Brian stuck his head into our booth telling us he knew a better one. Thinking about seeing them at the stall... Roger not often, Freddie quite a lot. Often on different stalls, I think that is why I can't remember the name. [The name of the stall. Other sources confirm that Freddie also worked at Alan Muir’s stall, for example, selling shoes.]
How well did you know them?
Just looking at your tumblr account. [she has had a look at my blog, where somebody asked if ‘groupie’ meant she had slept with the band] No, I never slept with the boys. I would not say I was a close friend, but I started at Ealing Art College in ‘72 and moved in the same circles. I loved the music and could be called one of the first groupies. I had to sneak into the pubs because I was 16. Roger always teased me for being so young. They all did seem to be one very large family, not just the band. It was a group of about twenty regulars, both male and female. Everyone knew that Fred was too gay to function. We were all at the gay rights march in London in 1972, had to run after the march. Lots of sharpies [Australian slang: youth gang, thugs] wanting to bash us. Back then I was in every protest that was going, student union rights, even the secretary protest. Just part of the times, stick it to Man or Woman. I left London in ‘74 for Australia, been here ever since and lost track of the boys but have never stopped being a fan.
What do you remember about them? How would you describe their personalities?
Don’t let the trolls hate me, but I did not like Brian. I found him to be rather full of himself. Space was a subject you never brought up around Brian or you would die of old age before he stopped talking. He was always the first to speak and start a conversation and then quickly passed you off to John, who was always tired and shy. Roger was also quite shy at times. He was very self-conscious of his looks, as he felt being pretty, nobody would take him seriously. Fred, well, he was not yet the big star, so I think he was working on his stage persona. When talking to groups at parties, he had the best stories of things that had happened to him or close friends. They were very funny and very descriptive. He was the life of the party. When he had a few to drink or was the centre of attention, he would take a cigarette out of the closest person’s hand and start smoking. Now remember this is the point of view of a 16-year-old girl that was a fish out of water, trying to fit in and not having much worldly experience.
It is said that Freddie and Roger were very stylish. How did they dress in everyday life?
Fred would do his hair and makeup to check the mail. Yes, he was always turned out, but so were a lot of people. Freddie did go over the top with hats, scarfs and jewellery. With Roger, it is a surprise he was able to have kids his jeans were that tight. And his shirts were always open unless he was in a jumper. I think it could have been so that you knew he was male, as it was the start of the unisex clothing. When I travelled out of London I realised it was a London thing. When I got back to Australia everyone thought I was a show-off.
There are some disagreements about how tall especially Freddie was. I know this is a difficult thing to try and remember accurately. But do you remember?
Freddie was taller than me but everyone was. Roger was shorter than Fred, but I never saw Roger in platform shoes. I did meet up with the band by chance at Sydney airport in 1984, said ‘hello’ but they did not remember me, or if they did then they did not say anything and I did not want to be a dork. At that time Fred was the same height as me (5ft 8in/1.72m), Roger was taller than me. It made me think at the time that he had a growth spurt! John was shorter than me and Brian has always been tall. [I have a feeling the platform shoes - or lack thereof - played a vital role here! Although 172cm for Freddie seems likely.]
You said everyone knew Freddie was “too gay to function”. Attitudes towards homosexuality have changed so much that it can be hard for us, now, to fathom what exactly people must have thought of him. Was it more of a joke that he was so camp? Was it something he would have been teased for? Also, he had a girlfriend. Did you ever meet Mary or the other girlfriends?
In 1972 a whole group of us - and I am pretty sure that Fred, Roger, Brian and Tim were there - were in a gay pride march. [Since then, J has found and showed me a picture of a boy she thought was Tim Staffel, and it wasn't, so Tim was most definitely not there. Whether Freddie, Roger and Brian really were there or if J is misremembering, who knows?] Us youth believed you could not choose who you fell in love with and if it was same sex, so what? However, if it was two girls then it was every guy’s duty to change her!
It was also a time that the gayer the guy was, the more the girls were interested. Also, if a guy was gay then you did not have to worry about him and he was a good person to take with you if you were going out drinking. However, the police, parents, teachers and anyone of authority were horrified and treated them badly. I did meet Mary a couple of times at pubs and once after a gig. This is just my opinion, but I found her a bitch. It could be that I was so young. It could be that I was very Australian. It could be that she felt threatened as my accent was a magnet to people around. And the boys (Queen) were no exception. Brian had a cousin in OZ and was always asking questions. I remember that my close group of friends thought that Mary made the perfect girlfriend for Fred as they were as fake as each other. Having said that about them, I often wonder if I would think the same now and if my perceptions were just because she would not give me the time of Day. Chrissy and Jo were a lot of fun.
This was before your time, but I read that Freddie's nickname at Ealing Art School was ‘Freddie Baby’. Any ideas how this came about? His showmanship or maybe personality traits?
I don't think so. There were an older crowd that would talk like that. I think the slang ‘baby’ was a 60’s thing, like groovy baby.
How long, roughly, did Roger and Freddie have their stall? I can't find anywhere when it closed down. What did it actually look like? Was it a sort of wooden stall type of thing? Or an actual room? What were some of the other things people sold at Kensington Market? Mostly clothes or all sorts?
The markets were little divided shops. The back was brick and the walls wood. I have been trying all day to remember the name. [Of the stall.] I think it was something hard to say. More often than not it would be Freddie's dad in the store. It was still open when I left. Roger and Freddie were both in the store on Saturdays and some Sundays. There was a girl, I think Jill, who was in the store more. And during the week it could be anyone. You name it and you could get it at the markets. Second hand or designer clothes, shoes, jewellery, pot and assortments. Hair cuts, food, bric-a-brac.
Wait, wait. What? Freddie’s dad? Really now?
Yeah, it was an older Indian man. so we just assumed it was his father. It was my understanding that he started the stall then the boys would work it as the whole markets were set up for younger people, but if needed he would work there. I don't think the boys would be able to pay the rent on their own. [I have since found out that the stall closed in late 1971, and Freddie continued to work at the Market until '74, for Alan Mair and possibly others. So the stall J witnessed wasn't their original stall - explaining all the different people she saw there - but she had no way of knowing that it wasn't.] They always had incense burning that was very big in the 70s. I still occasionally bring out the sticks, but it does not last like the candles and diffusers of today. If you could get in touch with Robert Daniels, he ran ChaChaDumDum it was the stall across from Freddie. He would know the dates.
[J says it’s this look, in a picture she happened across while looking at my tumblr] Yep, that is the one. It usually means that he does not believe or agree with something that was said and is working out how to respond, or he has lost the plot.
You mentioned Roger seemed shy to you at times. Was he also quite charming? We read a lot about what a chick magnet he was. Was this the impression you had?
My favorite subject! I had a thing for Roger. Everyone has a type and mine is the blue-eyed blond. Now, before you ask, was he brunet? No, he was a mouse/dirty blond. If it was summer he would have blond streaks mostly at the ends. He knew he was pretty and was always dressed in the latest fashion and had the current hairstyle. So, being my type I was constantly watching him. Everyone slept around during that time. I did not notice Roger doing it more or less. 80% of the time he was with Jo. Yes, he was a chick magnet, but he did not do the chasing. He was always very polite to everyone. If it ever looked like there would be any conflict he would be the first to leave it. It was not that he was a coward, just not into conflict. If he saw anyone that needed help he was right there, and often had to have Freddie's back. I never saw him in a fight. He could always talk his way out of things. He was also very patient and would listen for hours to other people talk. However, he would get this vacant look in his eyes at times.
Tumblr media
And Freddie would either click his fingers, change the subject or just give up. I don’t think that Brian noticed, and it would be fair game for John, he would see how far he could push it. Roger liked to drink a fair bit and when drunk he would be hanging all over Jo. If she was not there then he missed Jo. If, however, he thought that he or his friends were not being respected, then look out! It was a verbal volcano heading your way. That is what happened to me one time. I was trying to talk with my friends close to where a drunken Roger was and I yelled at him to shut the hell up, you wannabe blond. We/I coped a mouthful back, all in the same sentence, that finished with: Sorry, I didn't realise you were on your rags (period)! I have to have the last word, so I told him the truth: I don’t get them yet! (I was a late starter.) He went so red in the face and called me JB [jail bait] from then.
You also mentioned Roger’s cat Ziggy having kittens. I read about this but never when exactly it was. Do you remember?
I think it was winter ‘73. I remember being cold when he was asking around the pub. [To find homes for the kittens, I gather.]
Is it quite strange reading fictional interpretations of real people you knew? When did you first find out there was Queen fanfic?
No, we used to make up stories about people all the time, a verbal fanfic. Was looking up Adam Lambert and came across the fanfics. Some had me in stitches! Others, like DoA, had me hooked.
Please, allow me to be a little self-indulgent at the end. What's one thing I got totally RIGHT in DoA?
All the Ibex stuff.
What's one thing I got totally WRONG in DoA?
Roger did not have a temper, and I don’t know what the go with his father was, but he would talk about him quite a bit and was always visiting his mum. [Absolutely fair, not only did I change the timeline of Roger’s parents divorce in DoA - for lack of information at the time - but also created a completely fictional narrative around it for the sake of storytelling.]
Tumblr media
J, thank you so much for all this, sincerely. Can you tell me a little more about yourself? Are you still an artist?
I don't paint or draw any more. At the age of a 50 the doctors operated on an aneurysm or three, and now my eyesight is very bad, I have no fine motor skills and a tremor. I was married in January 1984 and have just celebrated our 37 year anniversary. I have one daughter who is 30 and two great, although tiring grandkids. A girl, 11, and one boy, 5. I have lived my life as the average middle class Australian with great memories. Talking with you has helped me a lot to remember a time when the world was mine for the taking. When I returned to OZ I started nursing, met my best friend, and we planned that once we graduated we would go back to London to study midwifery. But I fell in love instead.
J's wedding in 1984. As you can see, she found her own blue-eyed blond.

Upon request, J has shared some of her past and present artwork with me.
These are from her time at Ealing Art School:

These were done later, back in Australia:

J: Did this just before Christmas as you had inspired me. It did not require fine motor skills!
Tumblr media
So there you have it! I hope you found this little glimpse through a 16-year-old girl’s eyes as much of a fascinating read as I did. I urge everybody one more time to remember that J did not have to share any of this, and I think we all owe her a big thank you for delving into her memories. She is likely to see the responses on AO3, so I have comment moderation enabled there as I will not let anybody harass this lovely lady. The tumblr she created is @since72, but she isn’t really an active user and also very new to it all. Again, I can only urge everybody to be respectful.
If you have other burning question for J, feel free to leave them in the comments on AO3. I will either pass them on, or she may want to reply to them herself directly.

Re-introduce yourself
Our introduction is extremely structured and the flow has always a format irrespective of Nationality , culture or race.
As a child you are taught to say your name . Every time someone visits home or you are meeting someone, the excitement is to share your name. Yay ... joyous moment. Soon another step would be added once you are getting prepared for the schooling, your name, parents name and the place you live. Phew!! you must have been asked millions of times to master it . The game has just begun. Every-time another dimension will be added . Your school , standard, in case you are captain in sports , drama , magazine etc etc. Then by the age of 18 years, you will start mentioning your percentage of marks , your parents background, the certificates you hold . By the time you are being interviewed for your career, you are a bunch of certifications and degrees and nothing else.
Remember your first visiting card , that had your name, designation with that Company logo . Even in social functions you carry it and distribute them like toffees .
In case, you choose to become self employed you will put up website, your office board with your name, educational qualifications, credentials and the skills that you have and you would offer !!
Oh , if someone who choose to be a family person like my mother or my aunts then observe how they introduce themselves. I am so and so wife , my husband is so and so . Soon will get graduated to be the mother then she will add that she is mother of xyz kids .
No worries, I have done all . Here I am not going to ask to read Robert Adams , Ramanan Maharshi or Nisargadatta Maharaj . In very ordinary way let me prick you to get the momentary taste of the teachings of these beings.
I was in Singapore, it must be some eight years back or little more. After long day at work wanted to carry my dinner from the nearby Indian food joint which served nice vegetarian meals. I ordered and was waiting in the lobby there. Those days my phone addiction was not there , was looking around to the hustle and bustle of the night life of the place. It was my first visit alone in that city , the curiosity level was higher. The man sitting across seems to be waiting like me for his food pick up. When the eyes met , he bowed gently and smiled. I reciprocated, out of courtesy. My order came, he made a wave to me and I waved back . Simple over.
Next morning at the breakfast table in my hotel , suddenly someone knocks my table and I look up to see the familiar face of the last night . He smiled and asked if he can join the table, again out of courtesy I nodded. I prefer not to speak with anyone in the morning as ritual, my way of energy management for the upcoming day. Nonetheless here is a day where breaking the norm is all you have . He seem to me from south east Asia so was not sure of his age, their skin and overall structure camouflage the age process well . Still went ahead and predicted, must be in his late fifties or more. Soon he mentioned he is from Malaysia and is here on a conference. I quickly pasted my trademark smile on my face and nodded. When he asked what bought me in Singapore, I had to make an effort to say a word. I uttered ‘Work’ . He immediately mentioned by Company’s name, that was a surprise for me. Quickly noticed from my laptop bag hanged my ID card the logo peeping out. I smiled again. He mentioned how he has travelled worldwide and learnt so many things from different cultures. I heard all of them , nodding my head and occasionally saying few words ( read mumble). When his breakfast was over he was a fast eater or I was slow , he handed me his card. It just had his name, contact number and email. A golden shining card and in black ink those three things appeared . No logo , no designation, no company. This was different!! I must have been looking at the card with some astonishing manner that Mr Kheo ( Yes that was his name) came closer to my ears and said , I am not even those written words on the card. I was a while ago a person who spent a great time with you . Next moment I shall be one with someone else. My identity cannot be contained in a small piece . He winked , waved and was gone!!
I had no clue whatsoever he said and shocked with what happened at that moment. Yet I never got over the statement. Every time since then whenever there was an introduction, I always remembered Mr Kheo , because his introduction bought a discomfort yet I saw something, unexplainable joy in his eyes.
The thought that kept appearing within me , is it possible of being stripped of all the accomplishments and identities which he would have invested and acquired in lifetime, he was completely okay not to highlight. In the world when we are all looking to grab every bit of spotlight, he wants to be invisible. Did not make sense to me. He spoke perfect sense in his narrative in the breakfast, his articulation was impressive, well choosen words and sentences of expression, he was no ordinary. Yet and Yet !!
Much later in my years or rather recently the fragment of the introduction was becoming clearer in my life. Books , teachers explained the I AM. Who Am I !!
Here is a point , after reading hearing how do I implement . Unless I understand deeper within all those are simply intellectual. Who Am I ? The name appeared, my position, my relationship, my freaking everything appeared. I had to start from scratch. I started my introduction rather re-introduction and I could not , it was a struggle. Here Stubbornness nature comes handy, I do not easily give up.
It was like when you have invested a lot of time in making a something and you thought that its great, suddenly you realise all was a mistake, you keep doing the same mistake thinking that it will miraculously change to magic and success. It is not easy to erase it, too much ego is attached. My identity.....
I wrote my introduction the one which was taught, started writing my name , names of parents, my educational qualifications, my jobs that I did so far , positions I held , Cities I lived , the relationship I have and had , the houses that I own , the finance that I built so on , I made a list .
Then I took every line and questioned Am I that ? Paused, looked within, on the surface I was , waited soon it dissolved. I strike the moment I felt I was not . Every time I was striking I noticed the tremor in my hand and fingers, even there was a refusal. Striking my qualifications was tough followed by my relationships. I sensed my investment there . After few period all was canceled, I felt empty, naked as if someone has just robbed me of everything that I had ever gathered in my life so far. Tears rolled down , uncontrollably crying like a child gripped with the fear was being invisible. So much effort has been made to make myself visible and here I am erasing it all .
Mr Kheo and I stood at same space in that moment. I closed my eyes , experienced what could be the oneness the great teacher spoke about or is it much deeper, I am not sure yet I knew the joy within me. Who Am I ? I see the I and the I sees me. I am one .
Being empty is also being full. Empty of fear full of joy , the gift that we are all born with sometime lost in transit.
Even today when asked to introduce myself, I begin by saying my name is so and so and to earn my living I extend my service to xyz Company, I play the role of a daughter, sister, mother and friend along being colleague to many . Once you have understanding of that I AM , the framing of your sentences changes forever. In my corporate life I do sometimes have to follow the framework, yet I know my awareness is enough to make it impersonal. Once one has been in that rabbit hole, life is never be the same.
I know Mr Kheo would never know that what he offered on that breakfast table and here I am, forever grateful. A regret I carry that I was not careful of keeping that card that eventually transformed me, I could have written him my story too. The only was to give back is to share here and if anyone can find themselves, that would be my offering.
Today, start by reintroducing yourself.

Chapter 54 - Sports Festival: Awards Ceremony
AO3 - here
Fanfiction.net - here
So...uh, I accidentally hit post on AO3? So you're getting this a day early? ^___^;
Thank you everyone for your comments last chapter! I was a little worried about writing a satisfying last match especially after the confrontation. I even had to take a break from writing that part to work on future parts just to refresh my brain from writing fights. Which helped a lot and let my mind stew on it in the back of my mind to come up with more ideas. And thus last chapter was born. So yay to y'all liking it! :D
With chapter 54 we finally have arrived at the award ceremony! :D We have quite a few pov changes this chapter. Parents, Heroes, students, and a Villain.
Warning for swearing for Bakugou and the Villain this chapter. Also warning for teasing near the end of the chapter. From "So...if we're best friends..." to just before "Hitoshi merely hummed in answer...".
Also, we got fanart!! :D I made a fanart section to the discord so if you make anything, please share! I will love any and all that you give me. ^____^ Anyway, thank you so much CyreneHime and Canon on discord for the arts! I've added the links to them in chapter 6.
Also also! I was looking through my sports festival pictures and decided to make a tumblr post of the various team flags the students made for the festival. I added the link to chapter 35. I did say I would make one for the team chants and I will but I'll need to go through my closet to find them.
Anyway! Check those out if you'd like and let's get on with the chapter! :D
Linktree to all the things!
End notes for the chapter are under the line.
Well that was an array of reactions. First off, good parent Inko and Hisashi being proud of their son. Second, the students being proud of their placement or mostly. Bakugou certainly isn't but his inner voice isn't going easy on him. I hope you liked my version of his reaction though 'cause the canon version where he's basically foaming at the mouth is just wrong. Calm the fuck down, explody boy. Third, Aizawa hates life and judgmental people and wants to yell at all the idiots. While Awkward Might is awkward. Fourth, Shiggy makes an appearance again and has shown interest in Izuku! Watch out broccoli boy! Handy man's got his eye on you. Fifth, the crowd. Gods that hurt to write. I don't want to but I feel that's how the world would react in this AU. Izuku is challenging long standing social norms in regards to quirks and power. He's got an uphill battle ahead of him but what else is new. Guess he'll just have to keep trying.
So Bakugou is very much still in trouble. Aizawa is keeping an eye on explody boy. And Izuku sort of tells Hitoshi what happened though more of a summary than anything. He's still feeling overwhelmed by the confrontation so doesn't want to talk about it. Hitoshi is a good bestie and hugs are just freaking necessary sometimes, ya know?
Just a reminder in regards to Present Mic announcing like that, back in chapter 34 that was what Izuku asked him to do. To wait until he either lost or won first place. :P
Fun Facts About Japan:
Once the sports festival is done, the students form into their groups before the podium and the judges. They do have judges that come to be unbiased in the points. I would guess people from another school or part of the Board of Education. Based on my experience serving as judge for the English speech contest the next city over at one point and that same city would send judges to watch our students. To be as fair as possible. Anyway, at the reveal of the winner, they like to be all dramatic about it. The schools will show the scores putting one number up at a time. During the entire festival, the points would be updated and reach the triple or even quadruple digits on the school's scoring system. For the final score, the schools I went to would put the ones place first followed by the tenths and then the thousandths place if there are multiple teams in the same thousandths or they will put the tenths place followed by the hundredths then thousandths if there is a clear winner. For example from one of my schools' reveal:
Blue: ---3, Yellow: ---6, Red: ---5, Orange: ---9 Blue: --83, Yellow: --36, Red: --35, Orange: --89 Blue: 1-83, Yellow: 1-36, Red: 1-35, Orange: 1-89 Blue: 1383, Yellow: 1336, Red: 1435, Orange: 1289
They really like building up the tension. XD Of course the winning team freaks out. The team leaders get presented a trophy by the principal along with a certificate. Typically when receiving anything anything in Japan, whether a certificate, business card, book, trophy, etc., you grasp it with both hands. I believe the right and then the left. Then both parties give a bow before the giver lets go and the receiver keeps it in their hands. If it's on a stage, the receiver would then turn around to the crowd and bow to them before leaving the stage. So there's an award for the winner of the sports festival but there is also an award for cheering. Whichever team showed the most spirit and enthusiasm in their cheers both during the cheering competition as well as from the sidelines during the events. So the cheering part is very important along with the events.
Once the awards are handed out and the principal, a few teachers, and the team leaders make speeches, the students get in their groups for group picture time. There are photographers there the entire time btw taking toooooons of pictures of the events and the students in general.
That's it for this chapter! This marks the official end of the sports festival arc (thank goodness), but not the end of this day. Izuku is just so busy all the time. Next chapter we have Izuku reflecting on what happened, best friend Mei, people being idiots, and friend times! ^___^ Until then, thanks for reading and report any typos or weirdness!

For everyone who participated in 007 Fest, we hope you’ll take this month to have a rest, drink some juice, eat a snack, and catch up on your sleep. Fest drop can be a thing, so take care of yourselves!
And, when you’re ready, it’s also a lovely time to catch up on some reading and art from your fellow Fest participants and let them know what a good job they did during 007 Fest. August is a great month for commenting, reblogging, or even rec-listing your favorite fancreations that might have gotten lost in July’s flood of content. We’ll be resuming Supportive Sundays as well, and that would be a perfect opportunity to spotlight something you loved.
 007 Fest Wrap-Up
Don’t forget to make your 007 Fest master posts! For competing participants, you need those to fill out the 007 Fest Survey, which is how we tally your team’s points. For Civilians, we love seeing your brag sheet anyway, and hope you’ll take the time to give us your feedback!
You have until August 7th to complete your master post, tally your points, and submit them through the survey. More info on end of fest proceedings can be found here.
007 Fest Prizes
If you haven’t volunteered a prize for the 007 Fest prize drawings and you would like to, send us an email at mi6cafemod(at)gmail.com. Prizes can be anything! You can donate a drabble or a sketch, a ficlet or a fanart, a poem or a podfic. You can also donate crafted items such as soap, bags, bookmarks, etc. Or if gift certificates are your thing, we’ve had some of those in the past, too!
Whatever you can donate, know that any participant would be happy to receive a Fest prize from you <3

New to the story?  Read from the beginning.  PART 1 is here
///////////////////////
Kurin smiled, “Did you give helmswoman Darkistry the idea to ride the eye of the Coriolis storm north?”
“No, Little Fish, that was her own idea, and an excellent one.  At that time they did have to hide but I could not allow them escape over the Dragon Sea to another fleet.  I still regard the Naral fleet as my fleet and it had done a terrible injustice.  If the fleet was not given the opportunity to undo the injustice, a new Captain of Captains could arise.  War and ruin could follow.  It has before.”
“When and where did you have your talk with Barad and Tanlin?” Kurin asked Mecat.
“In the eye of the storm, as the Grandalor rode it north.”
“Besides barring them from flight,” Kurin wanted to know, “what else happened during that talk?”
“I found out why the Lady Tanlin was so highly regarded by such a rough-cut crew.  That led me to give her a Dragon’s Gift.”
“What was the nature of the Gift, if you will tell us?” asked Kurin with high interest.
“Singularity of self, acceptance of loss, internal peace, an end to nightmares. She deserved no less,” said Blind Mecat quietly.  “She made many hard choices.  The Wide Wings, Skye and Thunderhead, got included in the Gift by accident.  That may have far reaching ecological consequences.  I urgently wish to find out.”
“I think that you will have that chance, Mecat,” said Kurin.
Turning to face the Court, Kurin paced as she talked.  “The incident with the Fauline is now closed and all the charge of piracy dealt with. We have the word of Dragons who were direct witnesses.  By the Tenth Great Law the facts as described by Captain Barad are incontestable.
“The matter of the poison plot has been exposed, not as the action of a whole ship, nor even of a large cadre, as it indeed did appear.  It was the work of a very limited circle.  It is probable that at least one murder, Master Selked’s apprentice, Merk, was committed solely to reduce the size of the circle even further.  Captain Barad, having changed his mind about the plot, tried energetically to prevent harm to me or any other.
“Mister Morgu and Silor Elon, who are being held prisoner aboard the Grandalor for Council trial, were the sole attackers.  On them alone lie the charges of murder, attempted murder and mutiny.
“As to the matter of unlawful flight, it was the Council itself that broke the Second Great Law.  The Grandalor had both a duty, now discharged, to seek proper justice and the necessity to preserve the lives of the innocent against the blatant injustice involved.
“Neither Barad nor Tanlin can be held accountable for the piratical attack by the Longin on the Grandalor.  I personally ordered the counter attack in defense of both the lives of the crew in my care and the ship itself, my sole property.  Effort and care were exercised to minimize the damage to the Longin while still putting her out of action.”
That revelation caused consternation among the Court and spectators.  A shocked Sula demanded, “You ordered the attack on your own ship?”
“The ship that I grew up on, yes,” said Kurin softly.  “And it was the hardest thing that I’ve ever done.  I had to, Sula.  These lives were in my hands.”  From her pile of notes, Kurin pulled out the book entitled ‘Grandalor Adoption Register.’  She handed it over, with the simple explanation, “I’ve confirmed the whole lot, personally.  There’s not one person on board, except for the two prisoners, who did not adopt in.  They did it after they knew what kind of trouble they were in.  Captain Barad had saved many of them and they were determined not to let him down in his need. Barad and Captain Tanlin have that loyalty from their entire crew.  Few Captains do.”
“I petition the Court to dismiss all current criminal charges and actions against the Grandalor, her crew, officers and Captains.  They acted as reasonable people.  Their assessment of the situation was proved accurate on all counts but one.
“They had no need to flee from the Honored Huld and the Soaring Bird.  He was seeking to enforce their rights and would have fought Sula herself if necessary to do so.”
This bombshell caused consternation among the audience.  The Great Sea Dragons were regarding each other and nodding their agreement.  It made sense of confusing reports from Iren’s Orcas.  Sula turned to Huld and said, “You said that we must pursue.  That’s part of the reason that I did.”
Huld thought for only moment before saying, “Indeed, necessary it was. Injustice obvious was.  Rights protected and enforced was need. Found them not.  Error found you for yourself and correction made without help.  Way of adult, not child.”
Sula turned to Kurin and asked, “How did you know?”
“I long ago asked him what Honored meant,” Kurin replied.  “If what he told me were true, and I believed him, then he could not act in any other way.”
Sarfin concentrated on the petition that accompanied the revelation.  He consulted Sula for a few minutes of whispered conference.  Both gestured and remonstrated, at the last asking, “Captain Farrol, do you have anything further to add to your case?”
“An hour ago, you could not have changed my mind about Barad or any from his ship.  Guilty, I would have said.  Since then, I have heard Dragons testify in Court.  I have heard things that make sense out of things that I have accepted without question.  We, the Court, still have much business to address.  The Grandalor case though, I concede. They are innocent of these charges.”
Sarfin stood and raised his hands for silence and got it.  “The decision of the Court in this matter is final and may not be appealed.  The Grandalor and her entire crew as represented in this document,” he held up the ‘Grandalor Adoption Registry’, and her Captain at the time of the charges, are innocent.
“I am not done.  Captain Barad shows many qualities that are, now that we understand them, admirable.  He has saved lives that would have been lost.  He is right.  We did not look into many matters as well as we ought to have.
“Unfortunately, that does not excuse the civil matter of the counterfeit scrip and many other infractions of conduct.  His Master’s Certificate is revoked.  In five Gatherings, he may petition the Council for reinstatement.  During the penalty, he may not hold any position of command.
“Captain Tanlin, subject to approval by the full Council at the next Gathering, is instated as Captain of the Grandalor.
“This trial is now over.”  He sat.
Kurin stood and held up her hands for recognition.
Captain Urson sarcastically said, “What, isn’t it enough that you got that load of scupper trash off?”
“No,” said Kurin with deceptive mildness, “it isn’t.”
Turning to Captain Sarfin she stated, “There are Council charges that must be brought against the Fauline.  As the owner of the Grandalor and her advocate before the Naral fleet, I am the proper person to bring these charges for the ship.
“The Fauline dodged share tax.  She knowingly brought false capital charges against another ship. You have the Word of Dragons on those. She has willfully lied to the Council.  She could not have got to the Arrakan fleet and then to her Spring waters in the time that she had.
Kurin smiled slightly and added, “In addition, she has not yet filed the quitclaim on the Grandalor’s hull secured loan, as an integral part of her deception of the Council.  Until all the parchments are signed, the Grandalor, remains out of the Naral fleet and cannot legally collect what is due to her.  Thus, her loan reverts to the fleet and the Grandalor will cheerfully leave it with the fleet as partial payment of her fines.  That makes the entire 12,306 Skins, 209 blocks of arrears due for immediate payment.
“If they produce the quitclaim, the date will prove it to be false, because their Log will show them to be in Arrakan fleet waters at the time.  The loan will have to be paid up to current.  If the date is any other than what the Court has heard from the Great Sea Dragons, the entire document is void due to forgery and the loan must still be paid.
“However it falls out, Skua, by Naral fleet Law, must lose his Master’s Certificate for life because he willfully allowed his ship to become bankrupt.  Also by Law, the bankrupt vessel must be Scattered.”
Captain Urson slammed both hands down on the table and launched herself to her feet in a rage.  “You little Ord!  How can you do that to somebody like Captain Skua!  What did he ever do to you?”
Kurin looked at her as if she were a particularly noisome bit of offal. “To me personally, nothing.  To my fleet, he’s a liar, cheat and tax dodger.  To my friends, the Grandalor and her crew, he’s a scoundrel who doesn’t pay his debits, a rapist and an attempted murderer.  I try to take care of those that I like.”
Captain Urson was about to sit again when it hit her.  “What do you mean, rapist?” she asked uneasily.
Kurin once again spoke with that deceptive mildness that Captain Urson was now beginning to dread, “Captain Sarfin, I have a few parchments here that may be of interest.  These are fleet certified copies of unaltered Grinna Log entries.  They detail a trial held some Gatherings back.  You will find my copy of the same entries, for comparison, marked and highlighted for witness’ names and certain other information.”
She handed over another set of parchments with the explanation, “These are fleet certified, unaltered crew duty rosters for the time periods noted in the trial record, along with the whole Wohan before and after.  Please note that every crewman or woman in that whole time who is absented from duty for more than a few minutes is noted.
“A simple comparison of the witness list and the duty roster proves that this trial was never held at all.
“The charge was seduction in violation of the Marriage Laws, a potentially capital offense, if no ship will take in the one found guilty.
“Captain Macom, now deceased,  First Officer Skua Calin Grinna, Second Officer of the First Night Watch, Kotance Warn Grinna, Harpooner Miklot Moen Grinna, now dead from a Strong Skin attack, and one other conspired to the rape, attempted murder and denial of Great Law rights to one Darkistry Colm Grinna, now Darkistry Colm Grandalor.”

Chapter 12: Blood Ties
Snow cuddled against him in the hospital bed, resting her head in the nape of his neck and he gently rested his free hand on the small of her back, while the other arm was hooked up to the IV drip.
"Do you think they'll yell at me for being in bed with you?" she asked softly.
"If they do...I'll yell back, because you're exactly where I want you," he replied, as he pressed a tender kiss to her forehead.
"I can't lose you again…" she said, choking back a sob.
"You won't," he assured.
"But I did...I lost you and our daughter for twenty-eight years. The only reason I survived that was that I didn't have my memories," she sniffed.
"I know...but if you think about it, there's no magic here. We defeated her when she did have magic at first and I think we can do it again without magic," David replied.
"She runs this whole town...she got me fired with one phone call," she reminded him.
"True...but she's not the only with power," he said. She cocked her head to the side.
"You really think Rumpelstiltskin will help us? You were the one that got upset with me when I went to him when you were living down by the Toll bridge," she countered.
"I was...but things are a bit different now. We share a grandson and he's trying to be on his best behavior since Neal doesn't approve of any of his usual antics. That makes Regina his enemy as much as ours and I kind of understand him now," David admitted.
"You?" she asked skeptically.
"I scanned the book a while back and he was a poor farmer before he was the Dark One. I realized that we're not as different as I thought," he replied.
"I don't approve of all his methods or any of the ruthless things he's done...but I get why he did them now. He did them to find his son. And I think that you and I both know that I would do anything and go through anyone, for that matter, to find you and Emma," he whispered. She sniffed and kissed him passionately. Both were unaware of the eyes on them.

Emma watched them curiously from the doorway, near the nurses desk, while she waited. Her gaze was full of scrutiny and skepticism and maybe a tiny glimmer of hope that she would deny vehemently if it were to be pointed out. She almost rolled her eyes when Mary Margaret climbed into the bed with him, but then watching them together became fascinating. It was impossible...and pure insanity to think that they could be her parents. Fortunately, or perhaps unfortunately, the nurse arrived and attention was drawn to her.
"Emma…" Mary Margaret said, as she sat up.
"Uh...yeah, I'm here to donate blood. Turns out that I'm the same type as David," Emma replied and she did not miss the smile that brought to the pixie haired woman's face.
"Oh," she said simply.
"Emma...that's very generous of you. Thank you," David said.
"Yes...thank you," Mary Margaret agreed.
"Don't read into it. Having the same blood type doesn't mean what you think it means," Emma said flatly.
"Understood," David said, as Mary Margaret reluctantly got out of the bed and watched the nurse hook up an IV between Emma and David. The blonde had pulled up the recliner in the room and was now seated in it. Once they were hooked up, the nurse left and there was silence between them. Fortunately, that silence was broken by the one person that had brought them all together.
"Gramps!" Henry called, as he ran into the room and Neal could instantly tell that Emma wanted to correct their son, but didn't.
"Hey kid," David said, as he ruffled the boy's hair.
"Are you okay?" Henry asked in concern.
"Yeah...I'm fine," he promised.
"You had a hole in your side and now stitches," Mary Margaret reminded him.
"And it's just another scar to go with my collection," he said. She was about to fuss over him more, but Henry looked up at her and she hugged him.
"I miss you at school...my mom shouldn't have done that," he said.
"I miss you too, sweetie," Mary Margaret replied.
"But Grandpa Gold is going to help my dad get custody of me!" he announced. That surprised David and Mary Margaret.
"You're suing Regina for custody?" Mary Margaret asked. He nodded.
"It's what he wants...and apparently, my father is a lawyer," Neal replied.
"And…Emma is filing with us," he added.
"Yes, it looks better to the courts when the birth parents file together, even if they are not together," Gold confirmed.
"You think you have a chance in our courts?" David asked.
"Your skepticism for our corrupt district attorney is warranted. But I doubt Regina will like it if I appeal to an outside court and shine the light on her and this town," Gold replied.
"Then you think you have a good chance?" Mary Margaret asked.
"Very much so…" he confirmed.
"Then Dad says I can see you both whenever I want," Henry said. They smiled.
"We'd like that, Henry," she confirmed.
"I still think we're getting ahead of ourselves. Regina is going to lose her shit when she gets those papers," Emma said.
"Which should be about now," Gold replied.

Sidney winced, as his office door flew open and crashed against the wall.
"What the hell is this!?" Regina questioned, as she stormed into his office.
"Madam Mayor…" he started to say.
"I told you to spin the bar story in a negative light...not write a fluff piece on the heroics of David Nolan!" Regina cried.
"I don't know how that article ended up in my paper!" he insisted.
"Well, apparently August W. Booth found a way into your office and tampered with your paper! How could you be so careless? How could you not notice!?" she demanded to know.
"He must have come in when I went to get coffee last night. I had the paper done then and when I got back, I published it. I had already checked everything before then and nothing was amiss," Sidney explained. Regina scoffed.
"Did you read his story?" she asked.
"Um...no, I haven't had the chance," Sidney replied, as he skimmed the article.
"Oh my...he's claiming the marriage certificate between Kathryn and David is a forgery, designed by you to keep him away from Mary Margaret. Those are some scandalous accusations," Sidney said.
"You think!?" she screeched.
"Now some of the town's opinion against them is shifting! He's a hero and she's his darling girlfriend now that is no longer a home-wrecking tramp!" Regina hollered.
"What do you want me to do?" he asked.
"Write a retraction to the story! Insist that the marriage between David and Kathryn was real!" she yelled.
"I could suggest that it's even a conspiracy to clear their names. That Mary Margaret put August up to writing the article in her favor!" Sidney suggested. Regina smirked.
"Excellent...make sure you really drive home what a lying little tramp she is," she said deviously, as a young man appeared in the doorway.
"Madam Mayor?" he asked nervously.
"What is it?" she snapped.
"Um...you've been served," he replied, as he scurried off. Her brow furrowed, as she tore open the envelope and extracted the papers. Her nostrils flared and she clutched the papers tightly.
"What is it?" Sidney asked.
"Custody of my son is being challenged by his biological parents…" she growled, as she stormed out.
"I'm going to kill them all…" she hissed, as she got into her car and the tires squealed, before she headed for the hospital.

Tamara parked her car on Main Street near the Inn and got out, as she looked around.
"This is it?" she muttered, feeling underwhelmed at what looked like a small town that had gotten left behind in time. She took out her phone and dialed a number.
"I'm here...it's all here, just like they said," she said.
"Good...find your boyfriend and make good with him and his family. Wait for further instructions," the voice on the other end of the phone said.
"Will do," Tamara said, as she dialed another number.
"Hey…" Neal answered.
"Hi sweetie...you'll never guess where I am," she said.
"Our favorite bar, having a drink without me?" he guessed.
"No…I'm here. In Storybrooke," Tamara said. There was silence on the other end.
"Neal?" she asked.
"Uh...how did you find it?" he questioned.
"Well, it wasn't easy. Do you know this place isn't even on a map?" she asked.
"Yeah…" he answered, sounding a bit nervous.
"Anyway...you weren't kidding when you said it was in the middle of nowhere. I just kept driving for a while through the woods and there it was all the sudden," she lied.
"Uh...that's great," Neal said.
"So where are you?" she asked.
"I'm at the hospital," he replied.
"Are you okay?" she asked in concern.
"Yeah...I'm fine, just visiting a friend. I have a room at the Inn. Maybe wait at the diner for me and I'll be there soon," Neal replied. She smirked and hung up the phone, before casually walking toward the diner.
~*~
Neal hung up the phone and stared at it for a few moments, wondering what he was going to do. He had told Tamara that he was going to a place called Storybrooke, Maine and that it was where his son, the one he had only just discovered lived. He didn't give her any directions or vicinity at all and somehow, she had found it when no one else, save for Emma, seemed to be able to do so. His fiance was resourceful for sure, but he was racking his brain as to how this was possible.
He hadn't told anyway, especially Henry, that he was engaged and he wasn't sure how his son was going to take it. Add to that, he wasn't sure how he was going to explain all this to Tamara. There was no way she was going to believe that this town was full of people from fairy tales. He sighed and stepped back into the room.
"Everything okay?" Emma asked.
"Uh yeah...just checking on a few things in New York," he fibbed.
"A job? You never did tell us much about your life in New York," she mentioned. He sighed and knew he had to come clean with her...with them all and tell them about Tamara. An outsider in Storybrooke was bound to increase the already palpable tension between them.
"Listen...there is something I need to tell you," he said, as they heard the hospital door open with a swing.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Regina cried, as she stormed in, clutching the papers she had been served with.
"Oh good...I see that you have been served," Gold said nonchalantly.
"If you think that you're going to get away with this...you have another thing coming," Regina replied.
"I believe that is for the court to decide," Gold stated calmly.
"I warn you, Mr. Cassidy...I'm not someone that you want to cross," she threatened.
"Yeah…I've seen your handiwork, but you wouldn't be anywhere without my father's manipulation. I'll take my chances and I wouldn't do something like this unless it was something my son wanted," Neal replied.
"Henry…" she feigned a wounded expression.
"You said that I couldn't see my dad or my real mom! Or David and Mary Margaret and you got Mary Margaret fired!" Henry accused.
"No Henry...Mary Margaret got fired, because she's a terrible person and unfit to be around children," Regina said snidely.
"Get the hell out," David growled.
"I would be careful with the heroics, Mr. Nolan...one of these days, you might not recover from them," she said.
"Don't you dare threaten him!" Mary Margaret exclaimed.
"I've destroyed your reputation, Miss Blanchard and I'm just getting started, believe me," Regina promised.
"Let's go Henry...you're grounded for sneaking out," she said.
"But I don't want to go with you!" Henry cried.
"That's not your choice. I am your mother and your legal guardian," she reminded them.
"She's right, kid...go on and I'll see you later," Neal said, as he knelt in front of him.
"But I want to stay with you," he said sadly.
"I know...I want that too and we'll make it happen. Unfortunately, it's going to take time," he replied, as he hugged him. Henry sadly hugged him and the others in the room, before reluctantly leaving with Regina.
"Well...that was about as bad as I thought it might be," Emma commented.
"Yeah...there's something else that you need to know," Neal said, as he prepared to tell them about Tamara, but he wouldn't have to.
"There you are…" she said from the doorway, catching him off guard again. His mouth hung open and he cursed inwardly. He had a feeling this wasn't going to go well either...
