[Fic Book Covers 11+12/?] Integrative Approaches by Nnm / @mouseonamoose
Demonology and the Tri-Phasic Model of Trauma
As soon as Aubrey Thyme, psychotherapist, had opened her office door and seen her new client, Anthony J. Crowley, sitting in her waiting area, she was observing and assessing him. At first glance, she paid attention to the following: --His clothing was expensive and stylish; --He wore very strange but noticeable cologne; --His relationship to the seat he occupied could only, very loosely, be described as “sitting;” --He looked angry; --He was wearing sunglasses. What Aubrey Thyme, a professional, thought, upon first seeing her new client was: you’re going to be a fun one, aren’t you?
Angel-Centered Therapy Through A Multicultural Lens
“I’d love to meet with you,” Davey said, apologetically, when he had been called up by a fellow looking to initiate therapy, “but I’m all booked up for months.” “Are you sure?” The fellow said, through a poor connection that crackled. Davey had been sure. And yet. Right there in his calendar was a blank spot, just a few days away, which he had somehow completely overlooked before. “How about that…I’ve got Wednesday at eleven, if you can make that work.” “What a miracle,” the fellow said, “that would be just the perfect time.”

Someone pissed me off a couple of days ago
So! Below are several links to programs and foundations that promote adult literacy! Hundreds of millions of adults world wide were failed by their education system and now must fend for themselves while trying to read contracts and hospital bills and infographics from the CDC. But they don't have to be alone, and it is never too late to learn!
ProLiteracy: A network of educators, researchers, and advocates which provides research reports, learning materials, and other support to adult education programs. They assist with connecting volunteers to local programs and provide guidance and support to community leaders trying to use their programs' findings to advocate for social and political change.
Adult Literacy League: An adult education program in Central Florida, which aims to provide students with one on one attention to foster growth and confidence. It also offers English Second Language courses and job skills training, and each new student receives a comprehensive assessment to determine the best plan for them.
Saint Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center's Foundational Skills Program: A 100% free adult education program aimed at adults reading below a fifth grade level. It operates year round and is either in person or remote, and they now have a GED testing center that is open to students and the public alike.
Washtenaw Literacy: A free network of trained tutors for adults in Washtenaw County, Michigan.
Adult Learning Program (Las Vegas/Clark County): Free education classes to those lacking a high school diploma, those seeking to learn ESL, and adults who read below an eighth grade level. Also assists in students' search for gainful employment. Nevada got so fucked by COVID and the education/literacy numbers in the South West are grim. Please help these guys.
Hawaii Literacy: In addition to helping adult residents of Hawaii Island learn to read and write AND bridging the education gap in Hawaii's underserved children, they offer computer literacy classes, ESL classes, and a bookmobile. 1 in 6 Hawaiian adults struggle to read and write.
#Not Stories#mutual aid#adult literacy#'uuhhhggg its soooo disappointing when i meet a girl who's like 'yeah omg i luv 2 read'#'and then she only reads booktok trash and grocery store thrillers and manga'#'like come on thats such a turn off :/'#'like aren't you bored??? what about reading The Foundation and War & Peace and Grapes of Wrath where's THAT girl haha'#nobody gives a shit what sort of high school reading list gets your dick stiff! There's something about having hard bailed on the place where you grew up, like I moved away basically the first second I was able and rarely went back, but there's a fondness for some of it, and then something like this happens and
So much of what made me who I am as a person is in that place and now so much of it is gone forever, not in the regular turnover of things (I had a weird moment last year looking up something about the LA County Museum of Art and discovering that the buildings I knew had all been torn down) but just
All of it erased in less than a week
#Trees and architecture and walking and thinking out loud#Walking to a bakery to sit and talk#My love of books and the places that hold them#Escapism into stories (other people's and my own)#I wrote my first novel as a teenager set in a fantasy version of those hills that are on fire#My first job and every school until high school#Where we went to buy our Christmas tree every year#eaton fire

Tbh the whole 'bloodclan bans families and hates Cat God' thing really reminds me of the anti communist bullshit I was fed in highschool history class.
Every day I count my lucky stars that I got educated in a well-funded school in a blue state. My teachers were shockingly good in hindsight, I didn't get half of the same propaganda some of my friends in other states got.
#One of the coolest things that we did in my high school history class was#My teacher actually taught us the dawn of the soviet union and the rise of stalinism#AND THEN pulled out a book they had to read in their college course!#Which taught the SAME story from the other side. Exactly as a teenager in the soviet union would learn the story#It blew my third eye RIGHT open#And I think it became downright formative because I've never been able to look at the concept of history lessons the same way#Both the American story and the Soviet story framed their home nations as the righteous entity#And I guess the narrative concept of 'framing' had never felt SO REAL before#Same events just described differently... how much can change from wording#And later that year when I learned about the american whiskey rebellion I thought of a farmer uprising in the soviet union#Yknow. Thinking about it. I wonder if this at all contributed to why I made the Educator role...#Tomorrow's history is today's politics lads. Don't forget that.#And they will laminate the shit and the mud along with the truth.#Bone babble

i keep getting tiktoks of these younger gen z kids referencing a time they did something relating to fandom in public and now they're embarrassed by it and everytime i see one i sit there thinking over all of middle and high school and having genuinely 0 moments that i feel embarrassed by, like i definitely did a lot of shit these kids would be embarrassed by but i think these are all just really fucking funny
also photographic evidence of the kinda kid i was. these are from 2014/15 when i was in 8th grade
-desolation row one shot(still on wattpad gerard way/reader smut)
-twerk it on (mcr crack fanfic no longer on wattpad but i have another fic in my library called twerking in taco bell which definitely ALSO used for my reading log)
-frank iero must die(a serial killer/assassin frerard fic, still on wattpad)
-hair (really vague maybe a phanfic? nowhere in my wattpad library rip)
my binder i used in 7th grade i had a blue one that looked pretty similar to this for 8th grade but idk where it went, also the parts i scribbled out are my full legal name i had written on it. i wrote it normally and then the big spot is where i wrote my name REALLY BIG in elysian code from the vladimir tod books. also the lines are from when i used an exacto knife to cut up some papers and forgot that my binder was underneath
in conclusion yall can now see why im so shameless about talking about shigaraki the way i do
#base line i started sobbing IN THE MIDDLE OF MATH CLASS and had my phone taken away bc i was watching the mv for the ghost of you by mcr#i went to school with cat whiskers#me and my bsf made a presentation about an imaginary trip to the planet uranus and we filled it with so many memes and butt puns she started#laughing so hard she couldn't breathe and i had to do the entire presentation alone and we got a standing ovation#my 8th grade science teacher hated us#another time same class we had an assignment where we had to make a bunch of words with the periodic table and we did shrek and lucifer one#after another and when we turned it in our teacher read it and immediately told us to leave💀💀#same class again different friend we saw NA on the periodic table and started singing nanana by mcr and got sent out of class bc we started#laughing so hard we couldn't breathe#high school i would eddie munson on the lunch tables#found that aspect of eddie so relatable#filmed youtube videos at my old hs that STILL EXIST ON MY YOUTUBE CHANNEL#id honestly have them up for anyone to see but my old bsf found them extremely embarrassing and she thinks i deleted them#i used to go to school with a whole library in my backpack like the entire pjo/hoo series of unfortunate events harry potter etc#my backpack had a bunch of doodles on it and it said battaco big asf and it was an inside joke with my friends for years bc of it#i also used to go to school dressed as frank iero/gerard way/etc#pete wentz eyeliner#larped with the anime club in this little corner outside of the library bc it had a bunch of trees and a 6 ft long stick that we took turns#holding and screaming YOU SHALL NOT PASS‼️‼️#the middle school book club had movies days on fridays and when people tried to vote to watch the lighting thief movie i stood on my chair#and spent so long bitching about how bad it was that we had to do the movie the next monday bc people needed to go home and the librarian#could not stop my righteous fury#a teacher assaulted me trying to get me to stand for the flag so i dead weight dropped on top of him and then ran around the class to stay#away(real hard to do in a small music classroom) and when i got tired of that i beat him up a little and i didnt get in trouble bc he was#really embarrassed i got the drop on him(bc i had tiddies)#that man hated me for being trans#really got mad at me when the pledge started after that and id get up and salute while singing welcome to the black parade#was also genuinely bad at soccer that my teacher sent me off to other teachers when our class did soccer bc the only time i ever got the#ball i kicked it into the wrong goal#i got more stories but i ran out of tags :(

Gala Moschen has become a ghost!
She haunts the library, which Julian now visits every chance he gets.
When a friend is struggling with dense prose, Gala's emotional reaction to that text faintly settles in their mind. This gives them the curiosity to try and understand again, if only to learn why she felt that way.
@rosesnink
Style inpo, and why you are enchanted by her mind

Warning: If you interact with this blog (reblog, reply, or dm me) I will find your oc and make them haunt something.
Dm me if you want to haunt something/someone specific.

Kind of like an introduction post, but I’ve actually been here for a while.
Hi, I’m Secretly-A-Catamount!
I have ASD, SPD, ADHD, dyslexia, dysgraphia, and anxiety: so no ableism, or I’ll punch you in to the sun.
I’m aro-ace, but not an arrow-ace, which is upsetting because now I can’t be a Hunter for Artemis.
I live in somewhere in the good ol’ USA (not sure how accurate that is sometimes) with my family and pets.
My Ao3 account
Here’s my fandoms (in no particular order, will be updated as I consume more media):

Hey y'all! I am considering trying listening to podfics, but I have no idea where to start. Like, I read a lot of fanfic, but idk how one goes about listening to them? Is it like an app, or a download it kind of thing, or what? Do you have any advice or specific recommendations? In the past I have really, really struggled with books on tape because I cannot focus on just listening, but I like listening to like sort of documentary-ish videos while sewing and that's just a person talking, so probably I would be able to focus on audiobooks or podfics now?
#the person behind the yarn#I have nothing against audiobooks or podfics I think they are excellent!#It's great to have options and everybody has different accessibility requirements and preferences#I think part of my strong dislike for listening to them myself though came from my oldest sibling's high school reading#they did not like reading the assigned books so our mom got it on tape and it meant the only thing playing in the car#for like WEEKS was The Old Man and the Sea#but I was not in the car every time they were! So I couldn't follow the story! and I hated only getting bits of it#and then the next audiobook was on a road trip and it was...one of the robinson books I think#swiss family robinson or robinson carusoe? one of the stranded on an island classics#but the environment of the island made absolutely no sense#and the animals they described as native to the island could not reasonably exist in the same environment#and when I (age like 11 or 12 maybe) expressed that everyone else in the car thought it was funny#but I was genuinely very upset about the book's unrealistic depiction of animals lol#anyway none of that is relevant here I just want to try listening to stories again

okay like. i haven’t read a lot. crippling undiagnosed adhd and probably memory issues have kept me from consuming books since like elementary school. i probably finished one assigned novel in high school and i finally finished a whole novel for fun last year. i’m churning through moby dick slowly atm, but as a decent editor and writer and hence someone associated with the writing community and seeing those booktok recs or whatever…
girl tell me why the first book i open. starts with a fucking. spotify playlist. like, i was Aware that these books were wattpad-level. but i didnt think it was THAT wattpad holy shit
#and i dont tend to judge music taste either#but let’s just say im looking at half of these artists on this playlist. and i can already Tell#also for context since i know people can bitch#it’s not that i DIDNT read during that time#i tried so fuckin hard to read. it’s just i would power thru a chunk. then have to put it down. and then by the time id be able to pick it#up again. i’d have forgotten everything and would have to start over again. eg i restarted the chopin bibliography i have like 3 times#i read quite a few short stories tho#the one book in high school was the wars btw. fuck i cant remember the author. timothy smth. but it was very good#anyways. just had to rant bc i wanna see Just How Bad It Is since i technically Am kinda working in a writing-community-adjacent thing#and need to see for myself. how bad this is. i just cant get past the spotify playlist im gonna cry#a while back i tried kinda reading bits of love hypothesis and god. GOD. HFNGNGNNGG#so i already have a suspicion for what im in for#but i need to see MORE of the bad smut people are calling prose or whatever#mandont
