i figured out a reason my Nana makes me uncomfortable.

Everytime I've done something this morning she's sounded disappointed.

And its felt like shes been guilt tripping me.

And then makes me second guess myself by asking me over and over if that's what I want to do

Recently a month or two ago, my mom was doing my brothers hair. It hurt a lot because he doesn't do it the way hes supposed to.

My mom started talking about Nana hitt7ng her with the comb. he said that sounds abu$ive.

And she agreed???

I don't really understand at all what she was trying to say here. I've never heard anything about my Pop Pop doing that or anything similar to it.

And yesterday me and Nana had a pretty good conversation. But I forgot to wear the pajamas she got me.

My dad has also told me she makes him uncomfortable too so?..

I never like the “humans are just an everyman” thing in sci fi or fantasy settings where every other sapient species is famous for some special physical characteristic or specialty so I think there should be more sci fi settings where it turns out one very useful thing about humans is special; something we consider really normal. Like maybe we’re somehow by far the fastest runners among most alien worlds, who also think we’re lying when we say a lot of our planet’s fauna can run faster. Note that I’m talking about us having ONE famous gimmick that puts us on more or less “equal” footing though. The first time I shared this opinion on tumblr it spiraled out of control into a huge viral “humans are terrifying space orcs” thread and that was SO not my point :(
